Sick of spooky scary solo queue being the source of all the ills in the world. You're one fourth of any given team. If you're a good teammate then you're almost halfway to having a decent team. I try real hard to be a good teammate and I have had some stellar teammates in solo. If you make good decisions then that has a big knock-on effect for the match.

So yeah, cleanse once if plague has thanat. It's not brain surgery. If someone else already has: then don't.

GWS, I never said its the source of all ills. Every survivor has too pull their weight to win but it is not something you can expect will happen all the time for various reasons. Other survivors might prioritize archive challenges, be bad at looping or just throwing in the towel early. This is going to lead to a seperate discussion from thanataphobia so back to the point. New change is still bad and so far most have ignored OP's point: it only gives good value with plague, legion and nurse so it will still most likely only be used on them.

  • Oh great idea. Except you missed the part of SOLO QUE honey buns <3. Coordinate this with your random team mates is not always possible and you still haven't even mentioned anything about the perks lack of usefullness on other killers. If I wanted tips I would have asked for it laddie. There are better ways BHVR could have adressed the problem of "Thanatophobia feel a little oppressive, especially when paired with other slowdown perks" as they stated.

You are missing the fact that people can heal and cleanse. You are welcome honey buns <3

Alright lad, legion perhaps wont be so bad. However you are missing the fact the perk is still bad on every other killer and giving plague machinegun vomit in solo que is a great idea if you want to kill your team faster. You are welcome honey buns <3

  • Talk about a knee-jerk reaction and hasty decision.

Thana was mostly used by Plague and Legion with full slowdown builds to painfully make gens take forever.

Nerf it, making it bad for every other killer apart from the only two killers it was a problem on from the begining.

After the nerf, forever plague and forever legion will still be a thing. Am I missing something? Just what is the though process with this nerf?

  • Thrilling Tremors, Dead man Switch, Dead Lock, Grim Embrace - "Pause All Progress" build

  • Very good suggestions. Calm Spirit is really bad after the update, it was way better before without the penalty. Also make it so the survivor doesn't scream from the EGC or Moris.

  • Ever been in a match against a god tier nurse and seen a team getting destroyed in a minute? There you can say "It's a waste of time for everyone else in the game". Thanks for wasting everyones time with a killer you can't do anything against. I rather move on to the next game than drag out a lost game.

  • Playing killer and facecamping the guy who tunneled you as survivor the previous game. Not so fun when the tables are turned now is it?

  • A few are still around but most have moved on to other killers because Billy got F'ed in the A by the nerf... I mean "rework". The camera and first person animations are still horrible when you play Billy. Make BHVR bring back the old animations if you want to see more Hillbillies.

  • What happened to focus on the bigger events BHVR? When will they learn and stop making promises they can't keep and admit they screwed up?!

  • Its about time Billy gets looked at. Animations and POV problems have been left alone too long. Addons needs another update, alot of useless addons which you never use.

  • Fix the animations and camera issues on Billy, make chainsaw overheat less and give back charge addons but don't make them stackable. You know its possible since they made huntress iredecent head addon unstackable with infantry belt. Right now you have to put in so much effort for a small reward and if you miss you get overly punished. Before the rework, Hillbilly would get punished if he missed a chainsaw or bumped into things. The only way survivors would not gain distance was if he had double chainsaw oils to reduce missed swing cool downs or double bump addons. This is also solved with making the addons unstackable.

  • Nothing will be done about it. Yes it sucks getting camped or tunneled. Just deal with it. If 3 gens pops and I just got my first hook, what am I supposed to do? I basically have to proxy camp the guy on the hook and hope to punish survivors altruism at that point.

  • Its anoying for sure, but as long as you don't spam click flashlight after save and tbag its not toxic.

  • Spirit, everyone knows why. Deathslinger, free zoning in chase because you exist. Twins because they have to slug, tunnel and camp.

  • Fix his POV and camera animations for gods sake. Change back his brown sparkplug addon and let him keep his chainsaw charge when he is stunned by pallets. Even with his crappy overheat mechanic, this would do so much to make him better.

  • They are either :

    A. Very confident with themselvs and have the skills to back up their perk choice.

    B. A rank 20 who doesn't know what the perk does.

    C. Doing a meme build or as a challenge from a buddy.

  • All they had to do was make the charge addons not stackable, which they clearly are able to do since the Huntress irihead nerf has been released and nerf the tuning guide, it was way too good. Now alot of addons are borderline useless, his POV is messed up and camera animations are messed up. Pretty good job so far.

  • Because unlike huntress, he gets to zone out survivors for free just by existing. If he had a longer raise and down time of the rifle it wouldn't feel so cheap.

    1. Old Hillbilly
    2. Fun gameplay, alot of mindgames, decent in looping, good map pressure, good addons allowing for different playstyles.
    3. Hillbilly got gutted into the ground, alot of mindgames are gone, he is barely a shadow of his former self.
    4. A slow drop off. I play him from time to time now and then but nowhere near as much. Before the nerf I played him all day if I could.
    5. Now I like his chainsaw cousin Bubba for chill games and memes while Blight has great high speed gameplay.

  • Thanks to everyone who has input their opinions and arguments, I really hoped to start a serious discussion and it has kept on rolling.

The vid is just going so hard on the 'It's not that valuable' angle that it's basically making a very strong case for the removal of J-flicking. Apparently J-flicking makes Blight worse, so why would Blights not want it removed, then?

As for your argument, let me paint you a picture. You have a tool belt. You got a screwdriver on your left and a hammer on your right. Just because you have a hammer doesn't mean you need to use it everytime, especially not when you got screws on your wooden plank. Sure you can just use the hammer to force it down but it won't work that great and sometimes you break your stuff. That doesn't mean you want to throw your hammer away. You still keep it in the tool belt for the right situation.

  • My guess is Entity magic but I am scared to know the real reason

  • @MadLordJack said:

I don't think it's balanced to remove the only direct counterplay from a strong, balanced killer whilst simultaneously making him a fair bit easier to play.

Sorry, Im not sure what you mean?

this thread really shows what the DBD community looks like at its peak. Ignorance everywhere

watch the video people, he actually made some very solid points.

Thank you, atleast someone watched the video. What are your thoughts about it after listening to it?

  • @glitchboi said:

I will admit, the video is really well-made, but I disagree.

If the devs were okay with the J-flick, then I would agree. But all of his points are destroyed by the fact that BHVR does not condone the J-flick. He argued that combos were an exploit found by the devs of Street Fighter 2. The difference is, the devs of that game discovered the exploit, and chose to keep it in on their own will, however BHVR was unaware of this exploit during development of the Blight. BHVR does not want their fog whisperers to use this exploit, and told their players to not rely on the J-flick. Case closed.

Fair points. If the developers doesn't want it in the game then I hope this would have changed their minds but it is up to them what happens in the future. I'm just saying, unintentional gameplay has and can be turned into features.

  • @Bwsted said:

I'm not really inclined to give him free views, as his content often shows other bug exploits, like the locker check one and all his claim to Blight fame is based off jflicking.

In absence of a tl;dw then I'll go off the brief summary in the op.

The jflick is not healthy for the game. It removes counterplay in most situations on a killer who's already strong in the absence of this confirmed exploit.

I saw a twitch clip on this forum where he argued against Scott's video trying to present a sort of 'counterplay' to the jflick, where you fake turning around the corner and then keep going. Just in case the same argument is referenced in this video, that supposed counterplay is extremely flawed.

It doesn't work with line of sight if the Blight has eyes.

It's extremely likely to fail anyway because Blight has an almost 180° hitbox for obscure reasons. So, he can connect during the flick anyway.

All the Blight has to do is literally be patient and do an extra rush instead of jflicking immediately. The survivor gets hit if they anticipate the jflick on the first rush, or they get hit by jflick on the subsequent rush.

Even if the Blight is impatient and fails, his power literally counters holding W. So, the survivor is doomed anyway.

You want to help Blight? Then fix his collision on slams. That's what he needs.

Um not really sure what you mean, he didn't claim to fame by jflicking. He has played without using it and getting good results.

"It doesn't work with line of sight if the Blight has eyes." You could say this for any killer to be honest.

If you aren't even going to listen to the arguments I see no point further engaging in discussion with you.

  • @NoOneKnowsNova said:

My opinion on it is that it needs to go. If Blight was some B tier/C tier killer who was weak, maybe he was 110, then sure, I'd welcome this change. The problem is, even without it's debatable that he's in the top 3 killers and he's without a doubt in the top 5 killers.

The J flick removes a lot of counter play to an already strong killer. It's like if Billy could suddenly do a 180 turn mid way through his chainsaw dash. Would that be fine? Or would it be removing a lot of counter play to an already balanced killer who's A tier?

Its similar to the PH bug with Punishment of the Damned that allowed you to delay the sound of the sword digging into the ground giving the survivors, as far as I'm aware, a whopping 0.2 seconds to react. This was rightfully removed as Ph is already a good killer and this just reduced his counterplay.

Regarding the Billy argument, its not comparable since his power is an instant down, Blights power ends at the swing while Billy could keep charging, only removes a healthstate and Billy is no way near A tier anymore. We could argue about that in another topic but this is about Blight.

If you watched the video you would know Blight is not reliant on it, it is always better to out position with bump logic. Removing the j-flick removes counterplay since no one will go for flicks anymore. You argue j flick removes alot of counter play to an already strong killer. Could you further explain and give an example of this?

  • "Got a problem with the game? There is a perk for that." This holds true in so many cases. If you hate pop, use repressed alliance and try to waste the killers time sopops 45 seconds runs out.

  • Pip system is currently bugged, so that doesn't help. I had an Oni go for adept and not get achivement even though he 12 hooked us.

  • Because unlike Huntress, Deathslinger has a quick scope action and shot. This is a problem because many reasons:

Unlike Huntress, it basically has no windup time allowing for counterplay. You cannot juke a deathslinger shot, you get lucky because he aimed badly.

It gives Deathslinger inbuilt zoning just because he exists.

There is no penalty for quick aim down sighting unlike Huntress again. When Huntress ready ups her hatchet, she has a slight delay putting it down.

There is nothing you can do in chase unless you happen to be at a god pallet where he cannot shot over any obstacles or holes in the walls, and there is usually only a 1 or 2 god pallet at every map.

Pyramidhead is not fun either because his kit allows him to tunnel the crap out of survivors. He can force survivors step into his trail which allows him to ignore decisive or just slug survivors to buy more time. Its not fun dying after 1.5 minutes in a game or crawling on the ground for an extensive period of time.

  • You don't use your ears to see, you use your eyes. This is just another survivor buff for whatever reason.

  • Scream is another indicator for survivors you are using your power. It is in my opinion not fitting of his character. I can't take him seriously when I hear that goofy scream.

  • Survivors standing straight up, barely flinching looks uncanny. It looks unnatural. Old animations when they were slightly hunched over were better at conveying their scared emotions.

  • @chadbeastofprey said:

if they absolutely /have/ to keep it vertical then this is the version i like the most. very nice.

Agreed. I don't understand why they didnt keep it horizontal.

loud minority strikes again. New Billy is fine you just can't accept you can't do busted stuff with him anymore

loud minority strikes again. New Billy is bad you just can't accept you can't do most of his mind games anymore.

The one thing they needed to fix was his instant saw combo. Instead we got cool down on his power, useless addons, a silly scream when he chainsaws, no more charge on pallet stuns, bad animations and bad camera point of view.

  • Oh I didn't even think about that. Yeah this screws with tracking footsteps. Come on, its a flashlight that affects my eyes, I don't see with my ears. BHVR why is this new sound added?

  • Remember when they changed the auras for no reason and simultaniously making them impossible to see? Remember the eye straining red glare added when you got stunned by a pallet that no one asked for? Remember the annoying scream Hillbilly lets out when he chainsaws that no one asked for? The new flashlight blind sound effect falls under the "random stuff added that no one asked for" category like the other things listed.

  • Step in the right direction is what the majority would think. Left to right potrait display is what I would like. Option to toggle up to down or left to right survivor display would be nice.

  • This is better but there is still room for improvement. When the survivor is on the hook, its hard to see the hook timer. Please use another colour other than red to display it, its really hard to see. Same with the Exhaust timer symbol. I prefer the old left to right display of survivors but I have to say I don't think this new look make my eyes strained to the point I can't play the game, but we will see when the patch comes out.

  • @stargazer9 said:

I play both sides and yes. Not only eye strain but it also makes me dizzy because I have to move my eyes a lot. This is so bad. I really hope they make some changes to it :(

Same, thought when playing survivor it was way worse than killer. I think I will check out Civilisation this month and the next.

  • I noticed this too, I thought Ghostface had borrowed Freddy's magic gloves when I get hit and the killer hit the air.

  • What is the point of feedback if they are not even going to listen in the first place? Old UI was better from a gameplay perspective. Everything I need to know is in 1 place. Now the only good changes is the ability to change the UI size and survivor icons imo.

  • Eyestrain from looking everywhere, icons like exhaustion is difficult to see on first glance.

  • I had 3 games in a row with SWF full meta perks, dead hard, object of obsession, borrowed time, decisive strike, you name it. Two of them were last second flashlight/key swaps. Flashlight around every corner so I could not pick up anyone and they were deliberately bming. Next game I see 3 flashlights and I really don't want to play that match, just maybe its because of reasons like this killers lobby dodge or quit playing for a while, hence the long queue times for survivors. Just a thought.

Survivors don’t want you to camp the hook.

Survivors also don’t want you to have an incentive to leave the hook for a new chase.

Survivors also complain that repairing gens is boring, and the only fun part is getting chased.

    Go figure......

This. When someone complains about BBQ I always ask if they want to be camped on hook more if it means nerfing it.

  • Yes, they will implement you throw a hatchet and have to wait for a charge bar to fill up until you can lift your arm again. If you hold a hatchet for too long your arm starts to get tired and you suffer a overheat mechanic, I mean tiredness mechanic, and have to wait for a period until your arm is better and can throw hatchets again. After Billys "rework"(read butchering) I would not be surprised to see cool downs on every killer which nobody wanted. Of course it will be the end of Huntress just like Nurse and Billy.

  • No, personally I don't mind what platform anyone plays on. Its a stupid thing some players just think to make themselves feel better i guess.

  • Yeah so many questionable changes, misshaps and decisions its ridiculous.

  • Pyramid Head, Deathslinger, and Spirit. Just effing yuck to face them. Forever Freddy gets special mention because the matches drag on forever. Others mostly go by fast.

No. Some of us like her because she was our first character. Not all of us are toxic. Be nice to the non-neon colored clicky clicky Claudettes. Obliterate the ones who are clicky clicky.

No. I had too many instances of Blendettes taking game hostage Im just tired of it. If I see anyone playing as Claudette and not wearing bright colour pants or jacket, I am not taking any chances.
