I would love to see a dev respond to this, have they ever considered making an advanced survivor tutorial or are they still learning how to play the game and refuse to ask for help?

Oh don't worry I have read it.
Tho for you that is your opinion and as you said to me, not a valid one.
It's not really a well build argument and just a personal preference, nothing more nothing less.
But even tho we are in a discussion section, even though you think not, I'm gonna let it rest here because there is no reasoning with you.
Because as you make it show, whether intentionally or not, what you think is the only thing that matter and is the only thing that is right.
There is no reason of having a discussion with someone who isn't open to see other reasons but their own.
So i wish you the best of luck in the future ✌️
You're wrong and the word "tho" is spelled "though".

I think he doesn't want a discussion or anything tbh, I think he's just in here to pick fights with who ever disagrees with him.
All he says that when you disagree that you're wrong and you're points are not valid.
But doesn't come with some good points why he thinks that it is bad.
So no point to have a discussion with him I think
It seems you have trouble using your eyes and maybe your brain also? I already replied to you and gave you a thorough response, I'll repost it for you in case you missed it.
"There is an objective reason for the deep wounds black screen being considered bad gameplay and it's as follows: Going down because you can't see the screen is non interactive. Plain and simple, non interactiveness is bad in pvp games, it's the reason Spirit is the most hated killer in the game even though Nurse is stronger, it's because it's non interactive. The devs don't play their own game above rank 10 so here we are, doesn't mean it's good doesn't mean it shouldn't be improved."

If you don't care about what other people have to say if it doesn't agree with you, you don't want a discussion.
The whole point of a forum is to discuss ideas, thoughts and opinions.
So, if you don't have any interest in having a friendly discussion, kindly don't make a thread at all.
Can you try using your eyes, this discussion is in feedback and suggestions, why does feedback and suggestions exist? Try answering that before you say more nonsense. I suggested an improvement to the game if you don't like it too bad. FYI you mean nothing to me and I don't care if you think I should make a post or not.

Then explain me why you are not supposed to lose a chase because the screen gets darker?
You can still see enough to let a chase last long.
You don't give me any reason why you should not lose a chase because of that.
I gave you my reasoning why I think it is fine as it is but the only reason you gave is "it's bad gameplay"
Your life is dripping away as you lose a lot of blood, which will mess with your vision.
I know you find that bad gameplay but no actual reason of why you think it is.
I play dbd on ps4/5 and have bad eyesight (yes I'm a 4 eyes 😉) and I have no problem keeping track of the killer.
The only thing that actually fade/disappears, is the red stain from the killer.
But then again, there are perks and killers who do the same thing.
But you can still track the killer pretty well.
There is an objective reason for the deep wounds black screen being considered bad gameplay and it's as follows: Going down because you can't see the screen is non interactive. Plain and simple, non interactiveness is bad in pvp games, it's the reason Spirit is the most hated killer in the game even though Nurse is stronger, it's because it's non interactive. The devs don't play their own game above rank 10 so here we are, doesn't mean it's good doesn't mean it shouldn't be improved.

And by literally I mean almost literally, but still very annoying.

An opinion is still an opinion so it is still valid.
But an argument someone make about something you can find it not valid.
But about the screen getting darker.
It was never designed for you to last long when you're critically injured, hence the "deep wound"
It is created to buy you some time to get away, but while in chase to waste time of the killer.
If you can see clearly the entire time than the meaning deep wound would be useless and should be named 3rd health state.
So yeah i agree that it can be annoying to some as they want to be able to loop the killer the entire time while in deep wound.
But it is good gameplay as deep wound gives you an chance to escape rather than instantly downed while unhooked for example.
And if the killer chooses to chase you that that is bad gameplay from him.
They just try to make it look like your life dripping away and you eventually get caught, just like many horror movies where someone tries to escape a killer while being badly injured, they go down eventually.
And tbh i rarely go down because i can't see shite, the killer will leave me most of the times.
And when they don't i make sure I wast as much time as possible as it was attended to do.
There's some problems with what you just wrote. The only thing deep wounds is "meant" to do is force a time sink, you can try to justify the black screen but at the end of the day it's bad gameplay, you shouldn't lose a chase because you literally can't see your screen.

Ah ok I see the issue there yeah 😅
No problem them 👍🤘✌️
But do you actually think going down because you can't see the screen is good gameplay? I don't think that's a valid opinion, so agreeing to disagree doesn't work for me on this one.

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know we know each other?
Or at least I don't know you but apparently you know me as you are very sure I play only 1 side appearantly.
Just to get the record straith mister/misses, never assume that you know someone and what that person plays, makes you look dumb.
I play both sides and not just one side as you assume, I love a bit of variation.
You might find deep wound bad gameplay, but it is not designed for just keep doing normal stuff which you do without.
Yes the killer can still chase you and the screen gets darker the longer it takes, but you can still see.
If you keep him busy than that is good and bad on him.
But when you go down than that was bound to happen.
I have looped killers for a few minutes with a very dark screen so I know how it is like, and I have no problem going down because end of it all, you wasted his time while the rest was busy.
You call it bad and I call it good as I don't see any issues with it.
The only thing we agree on is that we disagree with each other
Sorry Dude, I thought I was messaging the other guy with the Blight profile, I asked him if he played survivor and he refused to answer.

@Dennis_van_eijk said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/254011/deep-wounds-black-screen-needs-to-go
Personally i have no problem with it.
It is meant to slow you down and to be threatened.
If you pay attention you can still see enough to keep looping the killer.
It's just not meant for you to keep doing that the whole time, otherwise deep wound doesn't make sense.
Basically you have as the name suggests a deep wound, and if not treated your energy or life slips away.
It honestly takes some time before it gets really dark and you can barely see anything, which means that you have wasted a significant amount of time from the killer already.
So yeah, I have no problem with it and it can stay as it is.
Why do people who only play 1 side in an asymmetrical game think they have the right to talk about balance, very strange. Once again the killer can chase someone in deep wounds and eventually you can't see the screen anymore, you can rationalize it any way you want but at the end of the day it's just bad gameplay.

Here we go, assuming I don't play survivor just because I disagree with your point.
The screen get's darker the more the bar goes down; so it punishes you for not mending. Even then, you're acting like you just got hit with a blooper in Mario Kart. The only time the effect is even close to being as bad you're saying it is, is if you're playing on Auto Haven and you're literally one second away from going down.
LMAO, very clever of you to bring up my assuming of you not playing survivor without actually answering the question, nice try. As for the other thing you said, Dude... It's not like the killer can chase you in deep wounds for a while and eventually it gets dark, no that's impossible. You want to try telling me I should mend while getting chased? Go ahead.
-
@QwQw said:
Ah yes, lets remove the one thing that makes Deep Wounds at least a little threatening.
Also, you're over exaggerating, like a lot.
Contrarian spotted. "A little threatening", Dude...I can barely see the screen and I have 20/20. Just curious do you ever play survivor?

Also you could use it to open up the "Secret" staircase on Midwich, there would definitely be some uses to it.

Not seeing as to why I would ever want to do that as survivor though. “Interesting gameplay” wouldn’t be as useless as that tbh, because it sounds like I would get downed right after randomly cutting my loop in half haha.

I Just said that. They said they have plans to add to it. So that means they they plan to add a new feature to the hud on the bottom left most likely. This feature probably works better on the bottom left and that's why the icons were moved to the top left.
This almost makes sense, but the survivor part of the HUD is so important information wise I don't see what could possibly justify taking it's place. What information do you think is more important?

I picked different genres indeed. to show how different genres basically use the same style of hud anyway. you put stuff on different corners... it's normal.
also, what genre is DBD? fps? 3rd person survival? 3rd person action? I can get several more 2specific HUDs if you want...
one of the examples is dead space, another horror game. that also spreads the info around instead of just putting it in the corner, and I gave a reason for why it's better than just putting it in the corner.
btw... why is the bottom left corner objectively better than top left?
I literally answered you in the comment you quoted, reading comprehension is hard so I'll post it again.
"what makes a HUD "optimal" is having the most important information also be the easiest to notice" that's my quote BTW.
-
@Alice_pbg said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1933926#Comment_1933926
it is. because you can't demonstrate that one is better than the other.
all you can do, is say you like one more than the other.
for instance...
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/VUgC3FBzQ_0/maxresdefault.jpg
top left you have a mini map, bottom left health, top right score and bottom right ammo.
is this a bad HUD because stuff is spread out?
https://www.wsgf.org/f/u/imagecache/node-gallery-display/contrib/dr/62/ingame_4x3.jpg
on the top you have the match timer (and alive/dead players + characters after it starts)
bottom left you have an image of you + health
bottom middle there's the progress of the game
bottom right power + ammo.
again, is this bad? would it be better if all of this was in the same corner?
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9a/Dead_Space_2_Screen.jpg
now, you have the health on the character spine, the ammo on the gun and the stasis on his back to the right.
is this bad? would it be better if the info was all on the corner?
https://www.wasd.pt/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/zelda-breath-of-the-wild-screen.jpg
top left you have helth + directional buttons.
bottom right minimap, temperature, sound and time of day with weather
would it be better with everything on the same corner?
information on most corners again...
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/krQM5xG1gOg/maxresdefault.jpg
stuff quite literally all around the screen...
do I need to go on?
I'm going on anyway
https://cdn.videogamesblogger.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Super-Mario-Odyssey-Screen-23.jpg
oh look... information on more than on corner of the screen...
https://gaming-age.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Switch_NSO_DonkeyKongCountry2.jpg
oh look...no information at all until you collect something...
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/pt/5/59/Street-fighter-v-laura-karin_screen.jpg
information on the top and the bottom of the screen... on a game that demands fast reaction time to the information on screen... oh wow...
it's almost like most games put the information on more than one place on the screen, and looking at them is not hard...
but instead of showing how spreading the information on the screen is literally the normal thing to do... let's focus on why a optimal hud, is subjective.
back to the dead space screen. if the health and ammo was a number on the corner, it would probably be easier to read, so you can say "that's optimal", like I showed before, having information spread out is not an issue...but let's pretend you have a point here...
you can argue that hacing the hud work in the way it does makes you look around more, increasing a bit the horror part of the game, since your focus shifts to different parts of the screen.
so while one is easier to read, the other is more in tune with the horror feel of the game.
so go ahead. which is the optimal hud? to show it's objective, you gotta be able to demonstrate it's better than the other option in every way
You provided a lot of examples of different HUDS but did you notice the different examples are also different genres? The optimal HUD depends on the type of game, how much information is on the HUD can vary but what makes a HUD "optimal" is having the most important information also be the easiest to notice and the most important information varies depending on the game.
The game we are discussing is Dead by Daylight, and in DbD the survivor HUD is very important if not the most important information available, moving it from bottom left to top left has made the HUD objectively worse.
-
@ProfoundEnding said:
They said it's due to things that they're planning to add to it later.
The question isn't "why did they change the HUD in general?" the question is specifically "why did they move the survivor part of the HUD from bottom left to top left?"
Saying "they're planning to add to it later" doesn't answer the question so the question still stands. Why was it moved from bottom left to top left?
-
@Alice_pbg said:
optimal huds are subjective. there isn't a 1 fit for everything.

The "throw up" sound is used as a noise indicator to give away position. Much like pigs reverse beartrap, and being injured in general. Being sick makes them throw up and make more noise. I don't really think plague should get predator 2.0 for having made someone sick.

Who actually likes listening to survivors throw up? I can't imagine anyone liking it, why defend the guy trying to dump on my idea by defending the black incense addon of all things? The constant vomit i think is a bug. I’ve gone against plauge many times but I’ve never thrown up as much as I have now so I’m positive it’s a bug. It also was just happening to me and not the other survivors in the match.
Well, it was my first Dwight vs Plague game so I don't know what his normal sick sounds are if it is in fact currently bugged, that being said, I think the majority of my post is still relevant, no one likes listening to vomit sounds and a green slime trail would be better.

Re-buff survivors, nerf killer perks. They already have Kindred, it doesn't help. Give survivors a way to turn off killer auras by buffing distortion to unlimited use. This should be an option in a horror hide and seek game. The auras and slowgen perks is what pushes killers over the edge. Lack of map defenses for survivors that are less than experts is an issue too.
You think DBD is hide and seek? LMAO, just another useless survivor crouching around instead of doing gens, thinking this game is a marathon when in reality it's a sprint. The longer the game goes on the more favored it becomes for the killer, I hope I never have you as a survivor teammate.

You're joking right? You got caught, your on the hook. You can't do anything for yourself. Your entire life depends on your teammates. It's an Asymettrical game, you can't face the killer alone. Period. In all 1v1 situationst he killer should be stronger than you. You have to rely on your team to play better than you if you REQUIRE to use hooks to escape.
If you don't like that, don't play an Asymetrical game, maybe CIV 5 is more your speed.
My whole point is that solo matchmaking sucks and you can't rely on your teammates, this BT buff wouldn't fix that but it would help a lot. You seem pretty dumb for not realizing this.
-
How can anyone argue for a counter to hook farm into mori it blows my mind, SWF ALREADY HAVE 4 BT"S, let solo have some anti tunnel insurance without using nonsense DS+Unbreakable combo.
-
@TheButcher said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1633802#Comment_1633802
Yeah and you're not entitled to a free protection hit. You realize the killer is a person too. If your team is bad and can't make safe saves against unique killers that affect the terror radius (or perks), that doesn't mean the perk needs to be changed. The players need to get better.
"You can't rely on your teammate to make BT work so you should bring DS every game"
Why not just have BT work for your unhook and not have to use DS?
-
@EvilJoshy said:

Again, the problem isn't the perk. It works fine the way it is. SWF is OP as sin but I don't feel solo needs a buff. Solo can always git gud. SWF more likely needs a nerf or killer needs some sort of buff when facing a swf.
"I don't feel solo needs a buff"
This quote means your opinion doesn't matter, cheers.
-
@Science_Guy said:
What you're describing is the exact reason why DS still exists. BT is already strong as is.
DS is a dumb perk that doesn't just counter tunneling but also counters the killer playing well in general. DS should be reworked and BT should be enough.
-
@Slashstreetboy said:
Just...no. Currently there is a plethora of ways (perks) the Survivors can use to negate Killer play, we don´t need more of those.
I agree though that solo should recieve some buffs to bring them closer to SWF. As someone who has never played as SWF before I know the ins and outs of frustration that comes with it, but getting tunneled off hook is more often than not the correct play for the Killer. This is why DS is so popular, as it forces Killers to play suboptimally.
Qeueing as Survivor you have to accept that this is a possibility, just like getting slugged or Moried.
Qeueing as Killer you have to accept the possibility that you will be forced to run around a car 12 times before the pallet is dropped, you could be sent to Ormond and hence be forced to kick 35+ safe pallets, that hooks will be prevented via flashlight, sabo or bodyblocking, that 4 Survivors use DS+UB and hence rendering you with basically no options, etc etc.
DS+Unbreakable is a stupid combo that you shouldn't have to rely on and gets countered by mori's.
Swf groups already all have BT, If you're playing solo and you bring BT you deserve to have it work for your unhook.
Sorry but you are completely wrong, this BT buff would help a lot for game balance.

Here's another quote by me explaining the same thing again:
"Sorry if the title isn't clear. YOU the player are running BT, when YOU the player gets unhooked YOU the player receive the BT effect from your own perk, if the person unhooking you also has BT it wouldn't stack, it's just regular BT for yourself if you run it regardless of the unhooker having it."

The 5th comment on this post was made by me, you clearly didn't read it. here it is:
"I don't think you read/understood what I wrote.
I'm saying BT should work on the person getting unhooked if they are running it. BT should only activate on the person getting unhooked, I'm not suggesting they revert it."
You clearly don't "want to understand" at this point I think you're a troll.

Not lying, i miswrote that.
I did mean those who are weaker against BT, my bad.
From what i understand is that you can potentially make both players invulnerable during 1 unhook.
Sounds like a buff to all Survivor players, solo & SWF, to me.
In fact, SWF could assign a specific Survivor or specific Survivors to run BT, one who would mainly do the unhooking & then unhooking them also activates it, and the remaining Survivors can then have a free spot for another Perk.
It's not a buff only to solos as far as you present the idea.
Dude how dumb can you be? I've already answered your points earlier in the post (including the one you just made). I'm not wasting anymore time on you, maybe someday you'll learn how to read what was already said before commenting on an ongoing discussion.

No need to be rude and lying.
I didn't say Killers can't play around BT, the first time that was said was in this comment of yours.
I said some Killers are affected more by BT than others.
And then some of those, in their current state, really don't need to see this huge buff in BT, especially when you say that SWF triggers every BT anyway.
"Your change would maybe make it a better experience against those that can ignore Borrowed Time, but then what about those who can't?"
That's your quote, now who's lying?
Try to understand (maybe by reading what was already said) this change is a buff only to solo que survivor which if you hadn't noticed is a complete mess. This doesn't buff SWF they all have BT anyway.
-
@Boss said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1419023#Comment_1419023
Survivors always have the right to just leave, no matter how free the unhook is, let's not forget that.
This buff won't only just make BT-weak Killers weaker, it'll make SWF in general way stronger.
This Perk was ran by practically everyone at the time, and for good reason.
I prefer not to go back to that stale, easy-save state of the game, especially not since you also don't propose the one-time-only part of the Perk that it had in its original state.
LMAO, did you forget to read before commenting? What exactly do you mean by killers not being able to play around BT?
I'll copy paste my earlier post for you:
" In SWF they already have BT every unhook. Get a free hit on the unhooker chase him down and ignore BT and DS by ignoring the guy off the hook, it's just standard efficient play that you have to do to win against good groups.
Saying BT shouldn't be as strong for solo is the same as saying killers should be rewarded for dicking on solo survivors by not playing around perks."
-

Whether it "should" be like that or not, it's the opposite of what they want it to be.
They want Borrowed Time to be this selfless sacrifice, to put yourself in danger while giving the other player a better chance at getting away.
Your change would maybe make it a better experience against those that can ignore Borrowed Time, but then what about those who can't?
Those Killers who can't are another reason why it was changed.
"They want Borrowed Time to be this selfless sacrifice, to put yourself in danger while giving the other player a better chance at getting away."
From a gameplay standpoint this statement is really stupid, a current problem in this game is groups being too strong and solos being too weak.
Solo players don't want to do the whole selfless sacrifice etc because you can't rely on others to to do the same. What happens when the gens get done and the killer has NOED? Well with SWF they look for the totem and then try to save, what about solo que? Solo players will just leave through the exit and let their teammate die LOL. There's a difference.
You can't make this blanket view rule about a perk when survivor games can be so different based on who's playing. I had to call you out for it.

I'm having trouble understanding your post OP. Are you saying that the person running it gets the Endurance buff when they get unhooked? Because that would be a good idea, being able to protect yourself from greedy Survivors is always a good thing.
Sorry if the title isn't clear. YOU the player are running BT, when YOU the player gets unhooked YOU the player receive the BT effect from your own perk, if the person unhooking you also has BT it wouldn't stack, it's just regular BT for yourself if you run it regardless of the unhooker having it.

It would still be too big of a buff since every survivor and their mother would have free endurance on every unsafe unhook.
In SWF they already have BT every unhook. Get a free hit on the unhooker chase him down and ignore BT and DS by ignoring the guy off the hook, it's just standard efficient play that you have to do to win against good groups.
Saying BT shouldn't be as strong for solo is the same as saying killers should be rewarded for dicking on solo survivors by not playing around perks.
