I shouldn’t have to learn it. You shouldn’t do it. If you steal from me then be aware that I will screw you over later when you need me most. End of story. I don’t know why you would swipe it just to give it back anyways? As a joke? Power trip? Anyways, it’s weird. Stop it.
Get over yourself. It's just a game. Doing something spiteful back makes you just as toxic.

The other day I was opening a chest in the middle of the cornfield and another survivor went to the other side and stole the contents from me the second I opened it. I considered it an extremely ######### thing to do especially since it was a med kit and I wasn’t running self care. Not too long afterwards she got hooked so I did something that I never do: I ran over to the hook and tea bagged her instead of unhooking and then ran off. Somebody else was coming to her aid anyways so it wasn’t like she was put out for more than a few extra seconds. On her second hook no one came to her aid and neither did I (I instead opted to cleanse a nearby totem which was my rift objective and therefore more important). She wound up dying, as did everybody else, but hopefully that person went away with the feeling that maybe next time to not be a dick to your teammates. And for what it is worth that was the only person I treated that way. I actually died by using BT on another person hooked in the basement.
Any other stories?
I do this occasionally to people but I always give them the item after. You should learn how to animation cancel when opening a chest. It save you a couple seconds and will also allow you to open the chest and grab the item quicker than they can steal it from you. As soon as the bar fills, you press sprint and forward. It immediately finishes the chest animation.

If you've committed to a chase for more than 15 seconds (time it takes to get bloodlust) and you haven't gotten a hit or a pallet, you've made a mistake and need to rotate away to a more suitable chase or pressure gens. Don't let your pride fuel your chases. If you realize the chase doesn't favor you, abandon it immediately, and let that survivor go. Bloodlust should almost never be a reason you get value out of a chase.

Already the map is too big, runs poorly, almost every tile connects together to make the whole map one huge loop, and it is extremely hard to see auras and scratches.
Will this visual update fix any of this?
I can say with virtually 100% confidence that it won't. And in fact, I think the map will be even worse
No changes to tile spawning, no changes to the map size, even worse performance probably causing the map to be disabled again (which would be the best part of the rework), even harder to see auras and scratches.
On top of all of that they will add breakable walls and will 100% create infinites that the killer needs to waste time to get rid of just like MacMillan. And even with the backlash that map got they didn't change those breakable walls.
So after this patch with these changes, and they increase the spawn rate of those maps 1 of 2 thing will happen. Lots of killers will take a break from DbD, or they will swap to survivor and make the queues even worse.
I can only see this update being a Lose lose lose.
Lose for survivor from queues
Lose for killer with garbage maps
Lose for BHVR because more backlash and less people to buy their overpriced skins. (Even though they look amazing)
If they do basically the opposite of what I think is gonna happen then yay! Now they just have to go back to the other maps they reworked and updated and fix it there.
Bye Felicia

Ditto here. It's rare for me to see Ruin/Undying last for more than 3 minutes, and then I'm down 2 perks. I guess I'm still getting value out of it though since I'm winning so many matches, and since survivor mains haaaaate that combo.
I might give Surge another try. Ijust hate that it only eorks with basic attacks. Surge is weak enough as it is without having so many requirements.
Surge is not weak. It can regress multiple gens and save you time having to go kick them. The time spent having to not kick gens is what can make it so powerful. It's very strong if you understand how to value your time and split pressure.
-
@gatsby said:
Surge stacks with Ruin now so the two perks have great synergy on Killers that down with M1 attacks. -8% gen progress with almost every down with Ruin's 200% regression really puts an exclamation point on the sentence when you're interrupting generators. Plus, Surge sticks around all game no matter what so you still have something to work with if you lose Ruin.
Personally, I've noticed that the Undying meta has made Survivors bring stuff like Detectives Hunch more and just be better about knowing totem spawns in general. Undying sometimes just delays the inevitable because at Red Ranks the Survivors often times will often cleanse every totem and the game goes downhill pretty quickly after you super Hex reliant build is deactivated.
Surge always stacked with ruin

Killer is harder than I thought! I always feel bad if survivors end up escaping and then the bad feeling just gets worse so I play worse 8(
I'm taking to watching Otz but I don't know who else to watch because I'm a survivor main, my main issue is pressuring gens and missing during my chases (I'm not sure what you mean by macro play, please explain!)
Otz is def good, but Fungoose is one of the best and really explains split pressure and rotation. He is by far the most dominate killer I've watched. The key being getting a hit or pallet within 15 seconds of starting chase, or rotating away.

I actually hung in there all the way to the end and wow at the last sentence. Isn't that a little over the top?
I made it almost to the end of this incoherent rant. Props to you. I didn't have the resolve.

I know there have been many threads with feedback regarding the Rift, but I feel like I need to express my own concerns about the Rift and my future with DBD. To put it simply, the current system of near constant Rifts being active is making me want to quit playing DBD altogether. I have completed each of the first 3 Rifts with 1-2 weeks of time remaining. In each case, I completed the Archives and landed at about Tier 65-67, and was able to grind out the rest of the tiers, but it left me exhausted from playing DBD. After reaching Tier 70 in all previous Rifts, I ended up taking breaks from the game and did not play until the next Rift started (which ends up being a few weeks).
This latest Rift, however, is pushing me over the edge. Despite playing a similar number of hours and keeping the similar playing patterns (usually getting at least the 2 games min per day, and more when time is available), I have completed the Archives, got to Tier 61, and have a week to grind out 9 tiers if I want to complete the Rift. Mathematically, it would take about 20 hours in game to achieve this. This does not count for queue times, loading times, BP spending, and max XP efficiency (i.e. getting out of the game right at the 10 min mark when xp gain/second stops). I do not think this is feasible to accomplish this in a week without ridiculous sacrifices, but it is obviously my choice whether to attempt it or not. What bothers me most, though is that I'm put in this position at all.
As a big fan of DBD, I've played about 1,350 hrs over the past 4 years, and never have I felt more irritated and annoyed about the game. I've participated in all the in-game events DBD has offered, including the crazy community challenges from year 1, and completed them all. I'm perfectly willing to do limited time events, but not ones that are 70 days long and restart a few weeks later. Because of the daily nagging to play (to get the bonus XP for Survivor and Killer), DBD has become more of a chore that I feel demands far too much attention, and consequently drains my willingness to play.
Obviously to some extent this is a self-inflicted wound. Sure, I should just "not care" about the Rift, but the Rift is designed to MAKE you participate in it. Regardless of what you do, the challenge widget pops up after every game and reminds you and gnaws at you that the Rift is going and you have challenges to do/prizes to claim. Again, this is fine for shorter events that last a week or two, but the Rift has become something that I frankly hate and despise. So much so that I am going to be more annoyed and pissed off that I got so far in the current Rift and didn't quite reach the goal; which feels like my time was wasted, which ultimately makes me not want to play at all. This endless cycle of Rifts is unsustainable (for me), and I really hate it.
Please... for those at BHVR that have any empathy for people's time, stop doing Rifts to often, and stop making them harder to complete (yes the community has done the math, we know you did this on purpose).
It is sooooo easy to max out the rift. Always get it done way too fast and early. This is a troll post.

Did we really need to change this? It is incredibly loud, it drowns out hearing and as killer I can 100% tell when a gen is being worked on, seemingly from even further away. I really don’t want to hear a 1978 ford pinto trying to start up all game
They def needed to add an extra sound to replace the clinking. The new gens were too quiet with just the sparking. I actually love the new sound and makes a perk like Technician more viable if you feel the absolute need to do gens quietly.

Lately, I have seen a lot of killers complain about the game being survivor favored, while in reality the escape&death ratio is around 50&50. Even so, killers tend to think the game favors survivors. Why is that? No, it is not because they have smaller brains, no it is not because they are dumb, no it is not because they are entitled: the reason is that they feel stressed when survivors make progress. This is going to assume that it will be an average match.
Let me explain: when you down someone, chances are, one or two gens are going to be done. This puts stress on the killer, because survivors have already done 1 out of 6 of their objective (if we count that escaping after the last gen is as hard as doing one generator). Meanwhile, the killer has only done 1 out of 12 of his objective due to having 1 out of the 12 hook stages required. Then, the game goes on and in the end, survivors will have done all generators. The killer most likely killed someone by then and can catch someone else to camp and kill. This will feel bad for the killer, because they feel like they failed due to all generators being done, while in reality they have done ok by getting 2 kills. For survivor, on the other end, can still feel good even if you lose: you will still have been chased, done gens and unhooks, etc. You will still feel that you have done something and the dread feeling of defeat will not be here.
So, here is the solution: do not panic when generators get done. You can still get kills, in fact, survivors are supposed to be unstoppable for generators (if both sides have equal skill), otherwise the 2 kills 2 escapes ratio (which is what the game should be balanced around) will not be applied.
The game is 100% survivor sides. It always has been from day one. Even moreso during it's early days. This is coming from a survivor main who also is a rank 1 killer. There's nothing wrong with that. To think anything else though is just lunacy.

Funny cause I'm a survivor main 😉

Fungoose is hands downs the best player survivor/killer and his straightforward non toxic gameplay is so good. All about teaching and players learning. Doesn't complain, doesn't get angry, doesn't tbag, never runs items or add ons. Absolutely dominates as killer. Seems to understand the maps and game better than anyone I've seen.

I prefer pure gameplay and commentary, so Fungoose and Scorpionz are my favorites. Not that they are incapable of being funny or anything, just that the quality of their play and explanation of things is top notch. :)
100% agree! Love Fungoose.

Okay so it's okay to dc when a killer is slugging because it's absolutely annoying but it's okay to slug, camp or slug a player to death when you used all near hooks? Like, my team isn't toxic. But there are still many killers slugging and like I said. I got slugged to death because the killer knew he couldn't reach a hook. Unbreakable wouldn't help because the killer was standing in front of me. Tell me where this is fair thanks :)
Slugging is a tactic. Especially when there's only 2 left. Some builds revolve around slugging. Nothing wrong with it whatsoever. Entitled survivors cry about it.

That was me the first week, s I totally now understand why people are suspicious of UE. I tell you - learning the game was hard. I couldn't find the gens, didn't know the LOS of the killer (still don't entirely) and there was a lot of getting the helk out of dodge every time I heard a heartbeat or saw the killer. I would go cower in a corner, and go back and try to find a gen again. I swore every time I finally found a gen and was so excited and then - oh here comes the heartbeat again. hide
Second week, less and less. By the second week I was doing gens and saving teammates.
I tell you - I see a blendette I might dodge the lobby. I see two. Yup gone. It never seems to end well.
Self heal. I hear you. Wear Kindred for a while and you just wonder about the state of humanity lol
Couldn't agree more. That was 100% me in the early stages as well. I was always so terrified to go near a gen. I didn't even know I left scratch marks lol. Once I learned it was ok to not escape to have a good game, things changed.

As a sneaker, my experiences say far, far different. Mostly what kills the team - teammates that don't care about the team. Every - single - time.
Sneaking and playing stealth is a great strat for some. As long as you are using your time to do objectives. Not just hiding in a corner using urban evasion and self caring. 99% of players misuse self-care by just running off to heal when they get hit.
-
@gatsby said:
The majority of mid-low rank Survivors rely on stealth and perks like Sprint Burst, Decisive, Urban Evasion, Spine Chill and/or Self-Care. They DO NOT want the Killer to chase them and are willing to waste tons of their time avoiding them. Its just true. I can usually tell within the first two minutes what ranks people are just based on their playstyle. Survivors that aren't objective focused with their time management aren't very good and unfortunately that's A LOT of people.
It shouldn't matter a ton if the Killer will chase you. Avoiding gens, spending tons of time trying to heal and letting people hit struggle phase is more detrimental than ANYTHING the Killer could do to you. It also just builds bad habits that are hard to break
Completely agree. Only 3 things you should really ever be doing. Gens, in chase, or unhook. If players would just do gens instead of hiding or healing, they would escape almost all games. That strat plays right into the killers hands. Why play stealth and hide? Because you know you are bad at looping and will get downed right away. How do you overcome that? By practicing chases and not hiding. Bad behaviors are enforced when these bad players spend time hiding and manage to escape even tho they probably didn't do any objectives. These are the absolutely worst players you could ever match with. I know right away when I'm on hook and I see zero players on a gen that we will not escape. If the killer isn't chasing you, you 100% of the time need to be working on a gen. Killer can only chase one person. Even if your a bad player and aren't sure what to do, if you just work on gens you help your team tons and are valuable. Claudette's are the WORST! Lol
