I like when I just know I'm overall better than the survivor I'm chasing and that satisfying feeling of ending a chase quickly and maniacally laughing loud enough for my significant other to hear me from the next room.
Also, whenever I hit Jake he makes a funny sound. Brings me joy. Oh and Leatherface's mori is something to behold.

@FiftyCalReaper That is where your argument has fallacy. If this was League, or even Overwatch where I have experience since Beta to the present day, I would agree with you. The characters there are much more complex, and when playing them in an environment of team vs team, and counters vs counters, there are a lot more moving parts to consider.
Two hours even on an Overwatch hero is nothing due to that. In two hours it is impossible to determine how the character fairs against their counters, how they synergize with various other cast members and in what combinations, what positioning is best for them, what maps are best for them, when best to use their Ultimates for greatest effect, and so forth.
Killers in DbD are nowhere near as complex, nor does a DbD match have nearly as many moving parts.
Now, I never stated how viable or unviable he is. I stated that after two hours, I don't feel me spending the time on him is worth the payoff (to me) when I could instead place that time into Spirit or Hag, both of which I've played and see myself getting better mileage out of.
I'm aware that DBD isn't nearly as complex as Overwatch or League, but honestly take ANY game and compare that statement "I played this character for 2 hours" and it still looks wrong. For some reason DBD makes people feel like they should be able to learn killers super fast. And that's because yes, they all sorta feel similar as far as mechanics go. But when you're playing a different killer, I think the most important thing is the macro plays, rather than the micro mechanics, and nobody wants to change up their own personal play style based on the killer they play. They want to play every match the same general way, and if a killer doesn't match up with that, they just assume the killer isn't good. Demo's portals are actually amazing if you learn how to place them, for example. But you automatically called them cumbersome within 2 hours. You know how many gen grabs I've gotten because of those portals?
-
When I'm killer, every survivor is running meta perks and playing super optimal. When I'm survivor, my team is running ######### perks, nobody has BT, and half the time they're trolling or refusing to do gens through Ruin.
I'm Rank 1 for both roles...

@Kilmeran said:
@HP150 That's been my impression. I just bought him today and played him for over 2 hours. To be honest, his portals are cumbersome, Shred is easy to dodge, and although I got 2ks and 3ks with him, that was more on the Survivors not being the best rather than a testament to Demogorgon.
I can see where the learning curve is, but to be honest if I am going to put that time into someone I already don't normally play, it would be Spirit or Hag over him. I just don't see where the payoff is really worth the effort and time.
See, not be to mean or rude at all but you just proved my point to a T.
"I played him for 2 hours." As if that's enough time to learn how to play a new character...
If you said that in a League forum you'd be laughed out of the building. For instance, to be a top tier Riven player you probably need to invest at LEAST 100 hours and watch a few YouTube tutorials.
DBD players seem to think they should be able to pick up a new killer in less than a day and be top tier.
New killers are judged entirely on the basis of "Is this killer effective and extremely easy to use." And that's just wrong. People want new killers to have minimal learning curve and maximum effectiveness.
Sorry, not trying to be a dickhead, but you pretty much perfectly demonstrated what I was talking about in my earlier post.

dedicated servers should introduce a new punishment system for DCs.
but yeah, currently its just ridiculous how many just quit for whatever reason...
Do like League of Legends. You can't play another match until the one you abandoned is over. And the more you DC, the longer your time penalty is.
In League, if you AFK or DC from a match, you have to wait for 5 minutes before you're even allowed to jump into a queue. And then it goes up from there until you have to wait 30 minutes before you're even allowed to queue up.
-
Hahaha ######### is that. And to top things off, it's in direct line of sight of a generator.
Devs why is this still in the game? The totems on Hawkins are decent and Badham placements are solid too. How hard can it be? Not to be condescending but this is just inexcusable at this point.
Just think about the general hard work and logistics it took to add Demogorgon, Nancy, and Steve, yet they pretend like "Oh the totem spots are harder work than it appears." More like the priorities are completely twisted.
-
I'm on PS4 and play him a decent amount. Last game I played was an absolute 4K stomp. I put portals near gens, but not in line of sight of gens, so they never know if I'm teleporting to them or somewhere else. They have to guess and get away from the gen before I get there. His lunge is great because if you just queue it up like you're gonna do it, the survivor will start zig zagging like an idiot which will allow you to catch up to them because you're still a 115% movement speed killer.
Survivors don't realize how much distance they lose by zig zagging. I also play a ton of League of Legends, and everytime a new champ is released the average player base will say that they're "not that good." But then one of the pros from Korea figure the champ out and suddenly the champ is OP because people know how to properly play them and build for them. DBD suffers from the same problem, and since we don't really have crazy pro Korean teams, it takes longer for us to figure out the optimal playstyle for a new killer. So people assume the killer is bad, rather than "I don't know enough yet, and I need to practice this killer more and experiment with different perks." Demo is a lot better than people think.
-
Low rank survivors always DC a ton, because they're noobs with overly high expectations. They expect to run in and escape the killer all the time and do gens because they saw Noob3 do it. So when they get down quickly by a decent killer, they rage quit.
Once you get to higher ranks, it doesn't happen as often. Definitely not 85%.

Really, correct me if I am wrong, the control of the match is determined by whichever one can pull through first.
No one is in control at first. You get two hooks and only one gen has been done then it's obv the Killer is in control more right now.
You get two gens done and one hook is all the killer has got off then the Survivors are in control right now.
Really WHO is in control can change depending on how the game goes.
Jesus it's like talking to children. Ok let me explain as explicitly as I can since everybody here seems to be good at missing the point.
I'm. Not. Talking. About. All. Games.
I'm talking about specifically going against a very skilled 4 man SWF. A Rank 1 killer against a very skilled 4 man SWF will lose most of the time. Period. Watch Otzdarva, Puppers, Monto, EdgarAlanBro...doesn't matter who. They all agree because they all know it to be true.
If 3 different survivors are on 3 different gens, by the tie you get one hook, at least 2 gens will pop. This

Again they won't always win. It's not a game where survivors always win. If you got skill against the other player and know what you're doing then surely to god it's a good match and you get two kills or three at least. That alone is a WIN
Agree to disagree. You seem to be under the impression that the killer is in control of the match and that isn't the case.
The killer simply takes advantage of mistakes the survivors make. I get 4Ks all the time. All day long, all night long. But a 4 man Red rank SWF with good game knowledge will have complete control of the match and that's for the simple fact that it's a 4v1 at the end of the day.

That is not entirely true at all my guy. If you're a good killer it won't matter how good a survivor is. Same with the 4v1 system. If you're good at the killer you play and you're good at knowing what to expect you'll win however not even game is meant to be one by the killer and same for survivor lmao the game is balanced in that sense.
A 4 man team of very good survivors will always win. If there's 3 survivors working on 3 different gens every time you chase somebody, there's literally nothing you can do about it. If they gen tap gens you kick, repair gens instead of healing, and then pop Adrenaline, you'll be lucky to walk away with 1K. I'm a rank 1 killer and I'm good at what I do, but basically any full time streamer with thousands of hours into the game will tell you the same thing. There are certain matches where the killer can literally do nothing to prevent a 4 man escape no matter how good you are. No amount of "gen pressure" will cut it, because you can only be in once place at one time. Killers like Freddy and Billy can help with this, but the gens will still go just as fast if they're all working on different gens at the same time, and good SWF teams understand this concept.
-
A full team of skilled Red rank survivors on comms will beat the best killer in the world any day of the week. Survivors don't need anymore powers. Besides, that wouldn't make sense within the lore. The killer is supposed to be strong and scary, it isn't supposed to be a level playing field. That's why it's 4v1. Survivors also have a good amount of strong perks. Those are your powers right there. Dead Hard, Head On, Balanced Landing, DS, BT.
-
I mean...you can adjust it. I turned mine on pretty high for killer because way too many people are good at 360ing on PS4

I know I’ve been trying to play survivor for an hour and it haven’t found a game that hasn’t been cancelled yet.
It seems a lot of plays are DCing in general which is disappointing. I hope this becomes banable soon.
Even if it's bannable it will still happen. So it's not really a solution. I think a timeout would do a lot of good. First DC times you out for 5 minutes, and the timer goes up progressively the more you DC until you're timed out for 30 minutes. But...it'll still happen regardless.

Double blood points, plus party streamers. Why DC? When I see a survivor DC when somebody put up party streamers, I literally just start laughing maniacally. It doesn't bother me at all.
Word of advice. You'll have more fun in life when you realize you can't control other people's actions no matter how much you want to. No matter what BHVR does, people will always DC. It happens in every single multiplayer game. It happens in League of Legends a lot and you can't even surrender in that game until the 20 minute mark, so just be glad trials on DBD don't last very long. Move onto the next match.
-
Damn that's cool to see. I play on PS4 and I was honestly quite curious what the player count was. We got 120,000 new players? Awesome. I felt like we got quite a big surge of players with Stranger Things. I've recently gotten two of my closest friends into the game and they actually love it and are getting into the lore and everything.
Nice to see new breath being breathed into this game. Also, I've only been an active player for like 2 months haha, I was originally hesitant because I thought the game was dying or would die soon and didn't want to get invested but that doesn't seem to be the case.
-
I don't take matches seriously at all during Blood Hunts. So I picked up clown for the hell of it and actually ended up getting a bunch of 4Ks and 3Ks.
I went strictly anti gen with him. Pop and Thrilling Tremors were amazing and I wasn't even running ruin.
Use the add ons that expand the toxic gas, and I was also using the add on that increased the effect duration of the gas. I was ending chases QUICK, bonking survivors on the head and disabling their dead hards. I had a game where all 4 survivors had dead hard and I didn't see it go off a single time.

Oh a fellow PS4 player? :)

The vast majority of my matches were just farming and trolling. Whether I was survivor or killer, we farmed and played around and got soooooooo much BP. I killed the uninitiated ones that wanted to flashlight and teabag and didn't understand what farming was, but for the most part the survivors had fun with me and we all profited.
And no I didn't kill people for jokingly teabagging. I can spot the difference lol

I mean damn dude, we're not doctors. Not sure there's much we can do to help haha. If you have issues with neurobiology there's nothing I can do. Maybe turn your brightness up?
Also watch Ohmwrecker because he's not an arrogant braggart. He's actually kind of wholesome and adorkable.
Or watch my stream :P jkjk
-
It's called sadomasochism hahaha
-
I'm not sure why everybody is being so aggressive and rude here, but good points have also been made.
There are a lot of UNSAFE pallets in the map, and a few safe pallets. There's some good drop downs for survivors IF they have Balanced Landing. If they don't, they're put in bad positions. As a survivor it's really hard to tell where the terror radius is when you're upstairs and most of the totem placements are good. As a killer, it can be tough because there's tons of line of sight blockers and this can actually cause you to either get disoriented OR lose bloodlust (or just not build bloodlust as fast.) There's so much junk in the way that certain killer abilities are almost completely screwed over, like Billy's. Ironically, Demo's lunge is probably at its worst on this map. Just too much junk and quick turns to get it off very often.
I can see your point, and Fungoose was originally really pissed off upon seeing the new map. You really just have to mindgame at the unsafe pallet spots and you'll score yourself some free hits. Also, there's not really any infinites on this map. There's one spot that CAN be an infinite, if the killer doesn't know how to run it, but there's nothing in here like Strode house or Ironworks.
-
Damn why is he so hot all of a sudden?

I think he's pretty cool. My friends think he's scary to go against and I agree, depending on how good the killer is.

There's good survs, skilled ones who DONT act like #########.
Never said there wasn't good survivors that don't act that way. Your point?
MY point was that, the same survivors that whine and cry in Killer inboxes are the survivors that sit there and act cocky and teabag whenever they have the upper hand. Nowhere in that did I ever claim that decent survivors are nonexistent.

The help section for survivors and killers says that escaping and killing are how you win, I believe @NuclearBurrito can confirm. The emblem system seems like it is designed to encourage people to play in a way that is more fun for everyone, that is why people get punished for ending games too quickly.
I don’t agree with how the emblem system works but it is what it is.
Yeah but as a killer what is a win? 1 kill, 2 kills? 3? 4? That's when it gets arbitrary. For survivors, sure I get it, they escape they win. That's easy to figure out.
But obviously for a killer there's a little more to what a "win" is. I believe the emblem system is flawed but also necessary. It keeps camping and ebony moris down because you usually just safety pip in either of those scenarios.

Call of Duty isn't Dead by Daylight.
The Asymmetric Nature of this game makes the pvp a lot more intense and can make it feel a lot more unfair for one side than the other.
Survivors who are new to this game have to deal with a lot more than a newb in a Call of Duty game.
Pfft I got a lot more hate mail from noobs on MW3 than I do on DBD.

I bring WMI and everything, but I still rarely get use out of the perk. Maybe it's because I don't get hooked very often, so I just end up feeling like it's a wasted perk slot and have since replaced it with other things.
-
Yeah Demo is a lot better than people think, they just are super impatient and aren't willing to learn.
"I played 20 whole matches with Demo and I'm not absolutely stomping, so therefore he sucks." Like how many games do you think you'd have to play with Huntress before you got really good with her? Quite a lot. So why not apply that logic to other killers?
Also, you can't play Demo like a basic chase killer. He's not just a skin. Most people hardly use his portals or don't know how to use them effectively and aren't willing to experiment or figure it out. I saw a Youtuber play Demo for literally like 5 games and already concluded "Yeah his portals suck." As another member posted up above, you literally just put them at gens and use Killer Instinct and you're able to track people extremely well.
Pro tip on his lunge. Act like you're gonna do it, and watch a survivor start to zig zag trying to dodge it, and then essentially this allows you to catch up, and it gives you a free M1. His lunge can score hits, but it can also mind game.
-
I swear to god this post is made by somebody at least once a week.
I'm a killer main and yes I hate keys and instaheals. When I'm a survivor, I hate moris. I also hate toolboxes because gens go fast enough as is.
But constantly complaining won't do anything. The devs are gonna do what the devs are gonna do. Was there a single post on her asking them to change SWF matchmaking to the highest ranked player on the team? No. I didn't see a single fkin person ask for that, but they just dumped it on us.
So like I said. The devs are gonna do what they're gonna do. Just enjoy the ride or get off.
-
@Purgatorian said:
If they don't fix it then they need to let the killer see if the survivors are swf or not. A new player meeting 4 red rank survivors on comms a lot will be extremely off putting to them
I have a feeling like 4 Red Rank SWFs on comms is not going to be common at all on Switch. Switch is such a casual gaming console and community in general. They don't take ######### seriously. My ex plays Switch and he can't play DBD for #########.
Also since it's Switch, comms in general are even less likely.
-
Yeah ever since the change to matchmaking (SWF using the highest rank in the match) the queue's have doubled in length. I play with my friend who just got to green ranks and we just sit around on party chat blabbing forever before we get a match. It's bad.
-
Yes currently the perk in essence isn't bad, but it's hard to activate. I ran it for a while and only got the use it once, so I just stopped equipping it. Most of the time, I'd either get hooked fairly early, or I could never get a full 100% heal off on a teammate. Or, I get unhooked and immediately tunneled down before I even get the heal off because my teammate unhooks me right in front of the killer without Borrowed Time.
Nancy's healing perk is way better because you can use it at least once every match. Extremely easy to activate and use. The conditions of Second Wind are just too difficult to meet. In theory it sounds reasonable, but it just pretty much never happens, especially when the comparison is just...cleanse a single totem, dull or hex. Not even comparable.
-
I've had this exact same thought.
1: Use less powerful perks or lower tier killers, survivors troll you and teabag and act like they're God's gift to DBD.
2: Use powerful perks and a high tier killer. Survivors whine and complain about how unfair and bullshit the game is and how it's ruined their lives and send you messages harassing you.
The same survivor will either skip around and gloat all self-satisfied, or whine and cry. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. That's why I NEVER give hatch. ######### em. ######### em all.
-
I'm not acting that way at all. But you're the one basically telling me to just shut up and accept it as the word of God. I never suggested that for you.
Also I feel like you'd get hand and wrist pain more from the mouse movements of this game than just pressing spacebar...you don't even have to press it fast. Just consistently. People cramping their hands up are probably under the impression that they have to tap really fast, which you don't. You can hit spacebar pretty slowly and it won't change a thing.

If I die on hook from a lag spike, I don't need to be punished for it too. Dying on hook isn't going against game rules. I think people are missing the same point as the devs are.
Smashing your space bar is not "stressful" because you feel like you're under pressure. It's stressful because it's damaging to expensive equipment. It's stressful because you could die any second to a PING SPIKE, not to a mistake.
Struggling on the hook isn't a valuable part of the game that adds to the atmosphere, it's an annoying, poor mechanic.
Lol I hate when people say this "Struggle damages my keyboard" Like...you don't have to smash the ######### button. You can lightly tap it. By that logic, typing an essay or a large post on here damages your spacebar too. I mean, how many times have I smashed spacebar in this one post? Or you can just change it to Mouse Wheel Down, or any other button you desire. You can even set a macro to F or something. And on PS4, it has NO effect on the controller, more so than any other game.
I really don't think struggle needs to be changed. The only thing that sucks is if you die on a lag spike, but that might be fixed with dedicated servers.

Or you know you could like...get a job and stuff brooooooo lol

Ver simply put, don't play the game if you're not willing to lose. Even without moris, there are games where you will be completely outclassed and dominated, so stop pointing towards the Mori as an excuse as to WHY you lost..
"Oh I'm really good at this game and that killer would've lost if he didn't have a Mori!" That's just a pointless thought to have. Just move on, and play the next match. I've played hundreds of hours and been Mori'ed like maybe 10 times.

And given the current popularity of the show, it was a good idea for the overall player count of the game. You might not agree with it, but it's better for the community and longevity of the game. Killers now have 500 perks to just let them walk straight to a target at any point during the game. I used to really enjoy finding survivors. Gone.
I believe A LOT of people are in the same boat as you. The games activity should speak for its self. Dead/dying game. They keep saying they have growth, but I feel its losing more players than it gains. Numbers speak for themselves, load times, d/cs.

Because there are other options already for good chase play. You get BPs and all exhaustion perks already help in a chase.
As a survivor, you're not meant to get into chases. The whole point is to escape, and killers will catch you during a chase (unless they're new or potatoes...). You shouldn't get a reward for getting caught out by a killer.
Diversion does need a buff though, but I wouldn't be the one to come up with it.
Yeah this is BS because you get better ranking for extended chases and running the killer around. It's literally part of the emblem system.
