I think Nurse is good. Steep learning curve, but does not take too much time to get adjusted to that "muscle memory".
Many survivors just don't know how to play against her and that makes her a really good killer right now. But, there are ways to be unpredictable and loop nurse for 3 gens. I've seen some of those survivors.
The only boring part is her addons. Many of her addons are just useless:
"Campbell's Last Breath" (Immediately Blink at half-charge in the direction The Nurse is facing after reappearing from a fully charged Blink.)
"Jenner's Last Breath" (Immediately Blink back to the previous location.)
"Spasmodic Breath" (Increases the Movement speed of The Nurse to 4.6 m/s.
Disables Spencer's Last Breath.)
"Dull Bracelet" (Grants 100 % bonus Bloodpoints for Precise Blink Score Events.
Reduces the maximum range of the Blink by -4 metres.)

MMR is very efficient at picking survivors with the same skill level. This creates 2 types of games:
- Low MMR Survivor Hell, when survivors are so bad, so you cannot increase your survivors MMR because you die, because your teammates cannot do a thing
- High MMR Killer Hell, once you have raised MMR as a killer, you start getting survivors efficient at:
- 1. Gen rushing -- because this is what they do to escape the trial
- 2. Pallet pre-dropping -- no mind games, no risk
- 3. Hold Shift W

It's so stupid that you get "temporarily" banned for leaving a match. The only reason I leave matches is because I can't walk straight without getting thrown across the map and now I'm banned for six hours for answering my door.

I was playing a match on Coldwind and I was so so close to getting Adept Nemesis. As soon as I press space to hook the last survivor and most likely get it, this happens

I did end up providing details and hopefully it doesn't happen again, but I am so sad. That was the closest I've gotten to that Adept.

Just kidding, my game crashes with the exact same error. I've sent the report dozen times... but not sure if they can decrypt their encrypted logs now.

As a Killer, I don't see a lot of people with keys in the lobby.
But even if I'd see 4 people with keys -- I don't have a reason to tunnel now, since the hatch issue got fixed and only 1 can escape.
Before this change, yes, 1 key in the lobby was the reason to tunnel everyone and make everyone's game as unpleasant as possible.

I enjoy playing Pinhead, I play and I see him quite often. Don't remember when I saw Clown, DeatchSlinger, Legion or Pyramid last time. But Pinhead is there in the fog.
Chainhunt is strong, but his regular chains are weak and require strong add-ons.

When you think about a video game which is balanced or near-balanced, what is it that makes it balanced?
One of the key things for me is that expectations within the game are clear and there are no "surprises" once you learn the game.
If I'm playing Age of Empires IV, and I see I am playing against the English, I know what the English can do, and know that they might go for a early longbow rush. I'll make decisions in my gameplay based around this.
If I'm playing Team Fortress 2 and I see a Sniper across the map, and I am a Scout, I know I will probably lose a shootout, as I know the capabilities of his class against mine, at range. If it is close range, I know that I'll probably win that engagement. I'll make decisions in my gameplay based around this.
With Dead by Daylight when you start chasing a Survivor, you have no such indication of what you are playing against, often until it is too late.
Sure some perks are a given at this point, I know when chasing someone who is injured I probably have to painfully wait 2-5 seconds before hitting them, as there's probably a 70% chance they have DH. I know if I'm approaching someone unhooking, I should go for the unhooker, OR wait 12 seconds before going for the person hooked, as they probably have BT protection.
Basically there is a correct way to play most situations, whether it is slugging/not-slugging, choosing which gen to pressure, and choosing which survivor to chase at any point. This correct way is determined by making judgements of which players have which perks and what perks they are likely to have hidden to this point. If the survivors are also all wearing the same skin, well good luck I guess?
Then you have perks which are used less, which might make a situation play out very differently. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing perk diversity, but sometimes these perks work simply because the Killer would not think you are running them.
I remember a hard fought game I lost on the Silent Hill map. The last two survivors were slugged, I basically had to just hook them at this point. I was still new to DBD, but I knew about DS, so I instantly knew to pick up the least recently hooked person. Well in this case they had soul guard, they stood up just in time, tanked a hit, picked up the other person, and they both ran out of the gate (of course, with a teabag and "ez clap" in chat for no extra cost).
In this situation, the correct play was to not pick up the recently unhooked person as they probably have DS. Up to this point I don't think I'd even saw Soulguard, so you can imagine my rage at the time. I think the correct play I guess was to leave the survivors slugged, or get to the soulguard player quicker. In the absence of soul guard though (i.e. most games) I feel my play was correct.
Another game I remember losing, another hard fought game on a farm map as a Huntress. I had a slug near a closed gate, and knew the location of the other 3 survivors. I think it was a correct play to leave the slug, as to this point he had not used unbreakable, and I wanted to pressure the other survivors. I chase the other guys, one of them has For the People, they get the insta pick up and everyone escapes. Again, first time I've ever seen this perk, so I was annoyed. Do I now have to play around this in the future, or should I basically continue as if no one is running this perk?
Basically my problem is that, due to the fact any survivor can run any perks, the "correct" way to play any engagement is always up for debate.
Making Survivors more predictable
I think that if Survivors had limitations on their potential perks, it would reduce this issue somewhat.
Imagine if each Survivor could only run 1 or 2 perks from other Survivors, and the remaining slots must be their own Adept perks. I feel this now cuts down on the OP builds any Survivor can run, and adds some element of predictability to the game.
E.g. if I see a David, I know he's probably going to have DH. If I see a Bill, slugging him is a risk (UB), and I can also assume he probably has BT.
You can still get some powerful builds, e.g. a Bill could run UB, BT, DH and IW.
But you can say goodbye to everyone running a meta build, and if you see a team of 4 Bills then you know you are probably playing a full-meta team and should probably play hard.
But like when playing TF2, simply by seeing a character, you know what tactics you have to use instantly, but the Survivor still has 2 perk slots to have creative builds and come up with some unexpected plays.
> E.g. if I see a David, I know he's probably going to have DH. If I see a Bill,
> slugging him is a risk (UB), and I can also assume he probably has BT.
> You can still get some powerful builds, e.g. a Bill could run UB, BT, DH and IW.
But people willingly do this already. When you play against Davids -- you know they most likely have DH. David with sprint burst is a shame.
When you see, Bill -- they most likely have UB and BT. I've tested this many times intentionally slugging Bills -- yep, most of them have UB :)
Those perks "OP" are not OP at all when you play against solo Q.
4 man SWFs on comm are the only OP thing in this game. They know each other's perks. They coordinate saves and gens.
This is OP. Huge advantage just for free. They can synergize their perks, so as a killer you are not playing with your 4 perks against the survivor's 4 perks when you are in chase, you are playing against 16 perks, teammates taking hits, flashlight-saviors in the bushes and head-ons in the locker where you have just downed the survivor.

Answers:
- Yes, I am having fun playing Nurse
- No for any other killers.
With Nurse I run a fun build
- BBQ for BP, because more BP is fun
- Plaything to confuse survivors and make them do totems
- Knockout is just for fun, I like the effect it gives when you down the survivor. You can also pick up a survivor at the exit gate because they are crawling slower. I really use the full slugging strength of knockout only if someone burns RPD offering
- Whispers to find survivors faster
That's it. Very fun build. No gen regression and I either win with 3-4K or at least go for lots of hooks. No reason to camp/tunnel usually.
All other killers:
I found a survivor, I chase the survivor, break the god pallet, vault window, they hold W and drop pallets.
Once I downed survivor -- 1 or 2 gens done. I am on the opposite side of the map. I am slowly walking to other survivors. They have done one more gen. Start chase again, catch up to the W-holder, break pallets... Gens done.
I've got bored of this. I need to run gen regression/protection perks, I cannot run the build I really want to because I just lose.
And I am usually not losing to the people who do mind games and are good in chases and take risks for fun. I lose to people who hold M1 on gen, then hold W then drop all pallets, press E, scream, but do not lose health state.

You don't need BBQ to tell you where to go. Most survivors are aware of BBQ and will preemptively get into lockers to avoid its aura reading.
If you want an alternative that will tell you where you SHOULD go to find an important gen / survivors use Thrilling Tremors or Tinkerer. Discordance is great too.
Aura reading isn't everything. As for Shadow Step hiding scratch marks, you have blood to help track and crows as well. I use Bloodhound almost every match lately and can track people through Shadow Step zones. They literally cannot hide from you as long as you can follow neon puddles of blood on the ground which isn't difficult.
Adapt and utilize counter play you'll find that it isn't so bad.
Thank you for the advice, but there are financial reasons to run BBQ. This is why many killers run BBQ, not just because of aura reading.
However, when I see no one after hooking a survivor, well, I have no reason to leave the hook. Boon is one more reason not to leave the hook. And this is not my problem, but this is a problem of hooked survivor and their teammates.
I ran Bloodhound, but it does not help much in finding healthy survivors, also I have no problem tracking regular blood puddles. Maybe good on Spirit. Crows are situational, sometimes you see the crow, sometimes you don't.
In general, I appreciate your comment, it is informative and helpful. But my post is not about countering the perk, but rather: if I don't see the survivor -- I camp the hook. If I see someone to chase, I would rather go and chase that survivor, and leave the hook.
-
@WeenieDog said:
So, how does that work in situations where people are jumping in lockers to avoid the aura? Is locker aura blocking also unhealthy?
Heavy stealth has already been beaten down to a point where its practically a throw ( and I personally like it like that). And that's why I'm surprised how many people consider it toxic for survivors to play in a very aggressive playstyle.
I am not gonna say hiding in the locker is super healthy, but Boon Shadow Step (hereinafter BS) does not exclude hiding in lockers.
BS is just one more powerful option for passive hidding.
Why it is unhealthy? because of uneven hook distribution for survivors, because someone, who has never been hooked before can just hide when their mates are dying on the hook. So this is more survivor problem now.
I am not complaining as a killer. I think survivors need to be concerned about this, especially solo Q.
BS is like a medicine: can heal or can kill.

I've been playing DbD for over 5 years, and i've always had a great time with it. I've played Killer, i've played Survivor, i've played one more than the other sometimes, but it's been fun overall.
But ever since the update.. it's just been constant nerf after nerf for killers. They just can't stop! Every single update, just tearing us down more and more and more. We haven't even gotten a single, tiny, solitary buff, but the devs just love Survivors and keep giving them incredible godly powers every update, while we fight for the tiniest scraps that we never get.
So that's it. I'm quitting DbD. And i'm staying gone until every one of my Killer brothers and sisters follows me, one unionized whole, part of a greater axis for change, so we can take back DbD from the survivor-gripped clutches of BHVR and make it ours once more.
We'll change this game for the better, killers.
..or.
Nothing's going to happen. I'll work myself up into a subdued rage on the forums, curse BHVR and those damn survivors for taking over everything. I'll call to unionize us poor killers to take it all back.
Then i'll boot up DbD again. As will everyone who voted up my post.
And i'll do pretty alright. At least, until my one bad game-- then it's back to the forums.
And 'round and 'round she goes.
Bye wise Grandpa! What you gonna do there... you know... in RL?

So, I've switched to my second steam account, got 666 666 BP and codes, leveled up my Nurse, the killer I never played on this account, and I almost did not play on this account after SBMM release. I've got 4 matches in a row against SWFs 4 man and duos which I've done with 3K , 2K , 1K, 4K. And the next match... guess what. There were gen rushing babies. Got 4 gen grabs and one totem grab during the match, slugged 3 of them 2 times and let all 4 escape. The next match was against 4 man SWF, I have lost this one. Very consistent matchmaking.

I'm seeing the "boon" effect and it's making survivors overconfident which leads to mistakes and then eventual hooks for the killer that the killer really didn't earn. The idea I have is an idea for a new boon perk. Bring in Boon:DS
Boon DS wouldn't be limited to a certain area. It would surround each hook with a diameter of 40 meters and an 80 diameter radius around the basement. It would also work no matter what hook state, 1st, 2nd or 3rd and the window to hit the skill check would be 20% larger than "This is not happening" tier 3.
With the above, when the survivor executes the boon:DS the entity surrounds the killer with Mercury Vapor Stadium lights that blind the killer for 30 seconds and then burst to release a toxic cloud that slows the killer by 30% for 90 seconds then slowly heals over the course of 3 minutes as long as another survivor is not downed or chased.
This coupled with the current system should bring some balance to overpowered killers.
Almo, I know this is you! No need to hide under the secondary account. We approve this change!
-
Lori Mains, you have a perk "Sole Survivor", to make it work, you have to let other survivors... DIE! DIE! DIE!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh3gD_AuyaA -
Yui is the authority with "5,013" posts, but we can gather together and override her "No!"
-
The next step would be introducing bot-killers in public matches... Because like, survivors can see and hear you, but you can't find them.
Would be great if I can buy a bot from store and it will do all the grind for me. Take my money!

It's because you don't understand how online gaming works and don't seem interested in learning about it. So I'll leave you thinking that your client is always the authority.
I know I am not as experienced in online gaming as you are, and definitely healing my depression after each validated DH takes all my spare time, so I just cannot learn about it; so please explain to me this simple point, which, yes, I am repeating over and over again:
How is that correct that I get a hit, hear the scream, but in a second the game tells me... you know what... no, that hit was kinda shady in my opinion, so no hit bro.
Yes, this is an online game and everyone has a latency. But why now this latency is stealing my hits?
Just when something works in your favor -- it is always the right thing. When something is broken on your side -- it is definitely a huge unfair bug, "BHVR, hear us! We are exhausted on the ground".
Just admit that hit and scream and then rolled back hit is a bug, not a feature.
-
@Nicholas said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2593143#Comment_2593143
You didn't even address my point, which manages your initial one. Now you're just repeating the same issue. Yes, it's fair that the server is rejecting your hit vs. DH. Just because YOU see something on your zero-latency client doesn't mean it is prevailing. Another player sees something different, so rather than let either side determine the outcome, the server will decide in this narrow circumstance. Otherwise, your hits are still handled on the Killer's end, aka what you see is what happens, and it doesn't matter what happens on the survivors' screen.
How do I address your point if there is no point? I know what I see on my screen, and this is definitely a hit. And then the hit gets rolled back.
I do not know what the survivor sees on their end. Do you? Maybe they see me somewhere on Everest or maybe they also see my successful hit and laughing "ha-ha, get hit validated!". I see the hit, I hear survivors scream. That's a hit.
-
@Nicholas said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2593055#Comment_2593055
30 to 40 is still 30-40x higher than zero, lol. Of course, the client will provide instant feedback; otherwise, hits would appear to have missed while it's being validated and then eventually strike, and you hear a cry. There is always going to be latency, especially when things are getting checked with the server. I don't know why you think a hit should prevail because you saw it happen with zero latency.
So it is fine that survivors scream on my screen when I hit through dead hard and continue running? Are you saying this perk now has to be fair for the killer only when I am inside the data center playing the game on the Dedicated Server? Otherwise, sorry?
Is it clear this is an online game and latency has to be taken into account?
-
@Nicholas said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2592883#Comment_2592883
What do you want to happen? Do you think because you hit a survivor on your zero-latency client that it should prevail at the expense of the Survivor? The sever decision is the fairest and balanced thing they could do. It shouldn't be killer or survivor-based. Alternatively, how many times have you hit a Survivor that on their screen they were too far or got away, and yet your hit was permitted?
You just kidding. My ping is 30-40 ms. Survivors should not scream and remain uninjured on my screen.
-
I've just got dead hard validated as a killer the last match,
you hit through dead hard,
survivor scream on my screen,
the survivor continues to run like nothing happened.
Pretty good job with validation.

I have always enjoyed both roles. The MMR introduction literally destroyed my Killer experience, as it forced me to use the strongest Perks just to sweat for two kills. So Killer isn't as much fun for me anymore. I still play Killer, but not as often. At first I felt like MMR had at least one good thing going for it. Solo q felt much better than before. I got a lot of different killers and honestly some pretty decent mates, but like every good thing in the world, that had to stop at some point. I don't know what MMR I'm locked into right now, but it's really hard to have fun as a survivor. I miss the days where you could just start DbD, make a fun build and have nice matches against many different killers. I haven't seen a single "low tier killer" since last month. I used to run into lovely Bubba players from time to time, but even those have disappeared lately.
I'm really happy for BHVR that this game is still growing. I think 50k people are playing on average. So the game is still doing well, even with MMR, but it seems like my personal DbD journey is coming to an end after almost 5 years.
Gonna miss you guys ( <- this is clearly a lie).
This is ridiculous how this game has changed during the past year. I would says, the Billy nerf was the beginning of the end. IDK why, I just feel it. MMR... Survivor changed to be more "gen efficient", by doing gens literally in your face... This is used to be a horror game, but no one fears the killer. Survivors have changed. Killers need to adapt.
There is no room now for a "fun build" as a survivor you run meta. As a killer -- you need to run meta too or lose. Kinda boring.

Two weeks ago, I thought I needed to take a break from this game. The game in the current state is stressful: PALLET, PALLET, PALLET, PALLET, IRON WILL, IRON WILL, IRON WILL, DS, IRON WILL MEDKIT, GEN POPS, MEDKIT, MEDKIT, PALLET, GEN POPS, PALLET, FAST VAULT, SHACK WINDOW, SHACK WINDOW, GEN POPS, SHACK WINDOW, DEAD HARD, DEAD HARD, DEAD HARD, BT on RPD.
But then I have discovered this guide on Nurse:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPSuYnnqvDw
I've started playing Nurse, and my life changed:
- I feel no stress (maybe a little fatigue); even if I lose, at least I can land a few good hits after a blink
- I don't care about the pallets
- I don't care about the walls
- I have started walking around my apartment and building with Nurse blinks when no-one sees me
In the last match, I've played against SWFs with 4 medkits on RPD. It was a bloodbath, so satisfying! I've been blocking the first-floor door with my rare part... And that's it. You can't get a rescue from the first floor. You need to go up... and the hook was in the range of my blink. Survivor hit 2nd stage, and I blinked and grabbed the rescuer. They started healing... but Nurses Calling! So I mori one, slugged and hooked two and one DCed. A satisfying match; I don't remember being so proud of myself for a while.
So, my apologies, survivors, but in this state of the game:
NURSE, NURSE, NURSE, NURSE, NURSE, NURSE, NURSE, and maybe Billy for memes.

Would be great if they say: "here is some BP to cover your loss". I belive that was just a random BP
-
I don't know why survivors do or don't "all bullet points above", but I am going to say if the survivors were perfect -- the game won't be fun.
I remember I really enjoyed playing Mortal Kombat 11, while I am, new and old players learned new mechanics and did mistakes, so I had a chance to win.
After some time, many players have left and the ones who stayed learned all deadly combos by heart, with perfect timing (or macros).
So you load into the match and get your ass kicked in the same way, over and over again. So, I stopped playing Mortal Kombat. It was not fun for me anymore. Same thing over and over again. Same god Trickster... oh, sorry, Joker combo match after match.
In DBD if you play a perfect match as a survivor -- you just win with 4 escapes, leaving killer in the dust.
How fun is that for the killers? How fun is that for survivors, always win and win and win?
What would playstyle look like?
As a survivor, you spread on the gens and hold m1.
As a killer, you just find and camp one survivor to secure at least one kill.
Repeat over and over again... This is a nightmare of boredom.

unfortunately seen three gens go in 90-100 sec through corrupt on certain maps, survs can still mostly spawn on a separate non-corrupted gen
I agree. Corrupt is sometimes inconsistent and does not guarantee survivors spawn in the corrupted area, and does not guarantee good 3-gen blocking, but in general, it works okay.

I would honestly like to know. It is basically the easy mode of the game and everytime they win, its always the same old standing at exit gates for 2 minutes thing.
I think this is not BMing, but some kind of ritual in this game. Maybe they are worried the escape won't count if the killer did not see you.
I usually break some pallets or breakable walls. During the Halloween event, you can smash some pumpkins.
-
F. buffs, but I agree, the amount of bloodpoints survivors get on average is pathetic. With the amount of grind in this game, BPs should be doubled or tripled at least for survivors and killers. It took me a week to finally get all perks on Nurse, considering that I had some perks already and played with BBQ and BP offerings, making around (25000 x 2) BP on average per match.
-
I think having some kind of Corrupt in the killer's base kit or as a universal addon would solve most of the early game issues.
Simply one mistake at the beginning of the match can cost you 2 or even 3 gens. Even a budget version of Corrupt would be great, so the killer will be able to check all the gens. This is probably not an issue for high mobility killers, but for other killers that is an issue.
-
I rarely run gen regression perks. It simply does not worth it.
Maybe just corrupt more often, but this is not a gen regression perk, more like gen defense and tracking the survivor spawn.
I just rarely have a chance to use Pop at all, maybe one or two times per match, so I'd rather equip some perks that help in chase/tracking.
-
What?
This game is a waste of time. I have spent over 2000 hours playing the same matches, same maps, same killers and survivors.
This is 3 months of my life or even 6 months of 8 hour work-days.
Do you know what could I have achieved during this time in my life?
Do you?
Well... I don't. I just like playing this game. LOL... but I am trying to play a bit less.
-
I have recently switched to playing (7 days ago) Nurse, and I really enjoy this killer. Yes, you get punished for missed attacks, but you don't have to deal with all this other poop in the game, like pallets, exhaustion perks (except dead hard) and so on. I am not saying I don't lose, but I can learn something new every match.

You want to use the example of basically the smallest map in the game to nerf a perk entirely? That's not really enough justification in my opinion. Plus, Boons don't have a 28m radius, they have a 24m radius. At least get the numbers right before calling for nerfs.
Sure. Small maps, why not?
We have:
- Dead dawg saloon
- Swamp
- The Game
- Haddonfield is considerably small with difficult 2 floor houses
-
I want boon that lets a survivor:
- break the breakable walls
- Teleport to the gen with the highest progress
- resets dropped pallets automatically
- add more invisible walls for the killer
- block vaults for the killer
- automatically drop pallet on the killer when they are in the hit range
- automatically progress the gen in the area
With all those ideas implemented, I would play Cookie Clicker during the match
-
I am not sure I've got what you've meant to say, but I definitely support this!
-
One issue I had with boons was on Midwitch, when the totem is blocked by the real lockers on the second floor -- I simply cannot hear it when I was on the first floor. Good, I was playing as Nurse, so I blinked up and found it. But yeah, survivors were running with no scratch marks and I did not hear the totem sound.
Healing boons are quite fun, I knew where they put it on badham, and when survivors got injured and get vanished without a trace... I knew where they all went, so I downed 3 survivors in that area.

I did nothing

whats the point if survivors have 5 perks to find totems and cleanse them faster than ever before; this game is now to op for survivors
If they run 1 boon perk and 1 perk to find totems -- that's great! This means they don't run meta perks for those two slots.
They have to find hex perks first and then bless or cleanse them. Like it was before the change.
I would admit, now with boons survivors are getting more benefits for blessing totems, but while they are doing this -- they are not working on the gens.
I am afraid only about the next survivor boon release in the future. They already added healing and scratchmark boons, what's next? Gen rushing boons? But we have some time before that would happen.

I haven't been living under a rock or anything, I'm fully aware of how toxic tunneling is and it almost never ends well. Tunnel that Meg and bam four whole gens just popped one after the other.
But why do the killer themselves think this is a good idea? What do they think they're going to gain from this, seeing how unproductive it is?
This depends on the game situation. What I see now is survivors want to end the match as soon as possible with as little interaction with the killer as possible: rush gens and hide in the corner. So when I down a survivor even after a short chase -- I can lose 3 gens already.
In this situation, camping/tunneling strategy, punishing the most vulnerable survivor may work much better than trying to chase other survivors.
When survivors are chill with gens -- I would rather be chill with tunneling and will chase others and spread the hooks.
But when survivors are playing a "tournament-style game": gen rushing, camping and pre-dropping pallets-- I am going to use the most efficient ways to reduce the number of survivors. Tunneling and camping are efficient in most cases.

I totally agree with the feedback about the new changes.
While cleaning speed increase is a counter to boon totems -- removed cleansing notification makes the thrill of the hunt useless for the bulds it was used before.
Ruin, Retribution, Devour and Thrill was a pretty powerful build on Plague. Thrill with Plaything was good on many killers.
I still gonna try new thrill in my builds on the killers who can interrupt the cleansing process either with "Infections" or with their power, like Doctor.
Thrill was not super popular before, but now it is a niche perk.

Plaything + Ruin is kinda fun to run when it works and you had a good early game.
I would expect a lot of survivors running boon now, after the patch, but then it is gonna be as rare as Leader, which is a good perk for genrushing, getting unhooked faster and getting healed faster, but not many run it and prefer some meta instead.
