Rarely play at this point. Been having fun with Don't Starve Together and Overcooked 2. Less likely to play once WoW Classic comes out.
-
I like the idea. They could even branch this concept to creating perks that buff a survivor based on the number totems destroyed on the map.
-
What if I want to play with a buddy and set it up as a drinking game?
-
Thank you Behavior for introducing a game with many killers, survivors, and more.
-
Darn. Oh well. 😕
-
Some players buy the game to play only one side. Not everyone is patient to play survivor before playing a killer match.
-
I don't think it's worth especially with all of the perks a player would have to get back even after level 50. Some players wouldn't even be using the skins that much if they prefer a different one from the shop.
-
This title is pretty weird when MoM got nerfed. I thought that was from the devs. listening to the feedback.
-
I like both the key or lockpick (from TerminalEntropy's post) idea. The current issue I've seen with the hatch is that getting the gate open can be hard for a survivor when the doors are next to each other on the same side of the map. Killers have more power in searching the map with faster movement speed, and they don't have to crouch to hide.
If the devs. do add this change, the hatch can still be hard to find because the survivor can't hear the hatch's sound if it's closed. I don't think this would be a big issue, and the devs. could always add a perk to improve this mechanic.
-
🍪 Whether you're a survivor or a killer, everyone deserves a cookie. 🍪
-
Rank rewards, new game modes, and new hiding spots (e.g. coffins, water barrels, ovens).

Well... The playerbase has declined and hasnt come up since the last update, when a DLC cant bring players back you know there is something wrong...
I can see your concern on the decrease of the player base, and why you want to know what's happening to the developers. I just wouldn't know if the problems you've addressed is all of the reasons why people leave. In fact, one way to solve a problem can cause more problems for this game.
I slowly stopped playing DbD because the game mode feels repetitive, the perks don't look interesting to me from the past updates, and there's a lack of rewards for rank. I admit I bought The Plague dlc thinking Head On would be cool, but refunded it when the perk is bugged and the queue change was reverted.
Overall, the developers probably don't know what is the best solution to these issues, and have to test their ideas.

I'm curious if they have statistics that prove or don't prove what you say. You speak of one side, but don't consider players who play this game solo instead of swf.
~ It takes them a long time to get things updated. Take a break from this game if it's too much, and wait for updates that you would be interested.
-
I wouldn't mind much with this change, but the devs could buff something for the survivors. After all, it sucks for a team that's working efficiently on the generators, and then a killer gets a pip because of a perk that steam rolls a team (situational but can happen).
The buff(s) could be:
- What the comments have said about a way to track the # of totems left on the map.
- Increase the accuracy of Small Game and Detetive's Hunch for those who want to make it easy to totem hunt. Solo survivors can't communicate to say "slow down on the repairs, I need more time to find totems," so this could help them with keeping up with time.
- Allow survivors to gain points in a category for destroying the totem(s). It would be weird to have a situation where one survivor gets all of the totems, but didn't receive a pip to increase the defense of the team.

While I don't face camp or think it's good to do, there's a lot of hypocrisy in this post. You complain about him face camping you because it doesn't require skill yet you think looping requires a lot of skill? Hardly. You made the game unfun for him so he made it unfun for you. No one expects you to stand there with a thumb up your butt and let him hit you, but maybe trying to make a juke and lose him rather than just circling objects for 5 minutes.
Technically looping is a skill. I agree it's easy to run in circles, but a loop is strong depending on the map. There's a big difference between a person who memorizes the map to know what are safe areas to run a killer vs. noobs who run like chickens with their head off.

Technically looping is a skill. I agree it's easy to run in a circle, but it's a good strategy based on a map. What makes the loops strong is when survivors memorize the map, so they know the safe areas to run the killer around. There's a big difference in skill when survivors loop vs. noobs who run like a chicken with their head off.

I'm using a GTX 1060 to play DbD, and it works great from low to ultra settings. Then again I max cap my frames to either 50 or 60. For other games, my pc does struggle with Rust & a little with Hunt: Showdown even on low settings. My guess is that I need more RAM as I currently have 8gb.

I agree, it's strange to think a player isn't a killer/survivor when the opposite option is there. Like a survivor/killer main isn't going to be curious of what the other side is like one day....yikes.ad19970 said:@Vietfox said:

..Oh come on. You're not being serious right? Or are you telling me killer mains can not be against camping and tunneling?
Some people like to use that picture when someone claims to be a killer main but don't support buffs for killers only. Same goes for survivors, but i don't see it that often.
@Tzeentchling9 is known for being an extremely killer sided member. To the point that i basically ignore him/her.Yeah I know what the picture means, I just can't believe I'm being accused of pretending that I'm a killer main just because I want camping to be nerfed and the game to be improved. I don't get how some people can be so biased. I mean I'm even for a gen rush nerf, just camping and tunneling is a bigger problem of this game in my opinion. Getting camped means you can't even play properly.
I guess I'm not too surprised by these type of posts. Probably because I just assume they have the mindset that's similar to an sjw/npc, and then I move on.
Some people could also be replying based on their emotions instead of using logic, but not everyone goes back and edits their posts. -
Depends on the survivors. Some go for meta builds, while others have a different opinion on what's a strong perk. Others might have a day where they say "######### it, let me try this perk."Orion said:I'm just gonna focus on the one hiaspect I find most confusing. If aura reading is so powerful, how come Survivors don't use it?
Personally, I've used Bond occasionally if I don't want to use self care.
Bond is helpful for other things to:
~Seeing where my peeps are at if they're getting chased near me.
~If I see someone going for a save, I'll go back to a gen.
~Get a good idea where a totem is getting destroyed, or where my team is doing gens.
I've only used empathy mostly for certain quest dailies.

I gave it a 6.
It is an online multiplayer game so it automatically is inherently infected with toxicity. I've played many other online multiplayer games and, to be honest, DBD has its massively toxic players but all-in-all it's by far one of the better in that regard.
Just as quick examples of other games:
I'd give League of Legends a 9, maybe a 10, as it is easily one of the most toxic communities ever. SMITE is also pretty bad.
WOW is a 5. The community is tight and many are friendly but when it comes to joining groups you better be built exactly how they want you to be or GTFO.
I'd give FFXIV a 2, maybe even a 1, as it is by and large the best online community I've ever been a part of. Most everyone is nice and willing to help each other out.I agree as these were similar reasons of how I rated DbD. Especially LoL where you can be stuck in a 30-60 min. match and 2-3 people are arguing in chat. Feels like a waste of time especially when players don't want to leave b/c they don't want to get timed out or lose rank. Not sure if it's different with today's LoL, but that's what I remembered in the past playing mostly for rank.

I'm assuming you're questioning killers camping more because of the nerf to BBQ on aura readings due to lockers and the distortion perk.Tsulan said:
BBQ is the killers WGLF. So why no use it?Dragon_of_Fantasy said:Tsulan said:After the recent BBQ nerf.
Out of curiosity.
Nope, still about the same amount before the nerf. Kind of sad if killers really need it when there are other builds to use.
I can make my comment more clear with what I'm saying. If killers camp because they are upset that BBQ was nerfed on aura readings, it's sad that they can't find another build to use. -

I think this buff is a good idea because I would be able to keep track how many totems my teammates have destroyed in solo especially when survivors want to stop NOED.

Even if I use those two counters and they somehow work, most of the teammates I get don't, and I have to rely on them to survive/have a fun game.I agree this perk is fine as it is for killers that don't have powers which increase their speed, but for those that do, it's just too strong.
Increase the range to something like "when they are further than 70 meters" or make the aura only 2 seconds. This should make those killers less op.
I agree with BBQ is a strong perk for Hillbilly and Nurse especially if they're also using Whispers. Not sure on Spirit + BBQ since I haven't had enough games with that combo. Even so, I don't think increasing the range is going to help as Hillbilly would still be pretty fast to get an idea of where to go. Lowering the aura to 2 seconds would have to be tested in ptb.
Honestly, the perk isn't going to get nerfed anytime soon especially since the devs. are focusing on ds. Your best bet is to keep countering the perk as you said, and try to live long enough for the hatch if your teammates can't deal with BBQ.
As for some of the comments saying BBQ shouldn't be nerfed, maybe it needs a stronger counter instead. For example, Sole Survivor could be buffed to where it nullifies the aura reading. Guess will see what the current 2.3.0 ptb has for Sole Survivor.

I agree the aura reading is strong on hillbilly and nurse (haven't had enough games w/ Spirit + BBQ to agree/disagree), however increasing the range will probably not help as Hillbilly would still be fast to move to your direction. 70 meters might be too much of a nerf. Lowering the aura sounds interesting, but would have to be tested.
Honestly, I doubt BBQ is going to get a nerf especially since the devs. are focusing on ds. There's nothing much that can be done with your teammates as all you can do is survive the longest and hope for the hatch when your team can't deal with BBQ.
From looking at some of the comments saying BBQ doesn't need a nerf, maybe it just needs a stronger counter. For example, Sole Survivor could be buffed to nullify BBQ's aura.

@Tsulan I remember when Leatherface came out, but I don't think it really changed how much people camped. Basing on forum posts to judge how much camping occurs isn't that accurate because not every DBD player writes on a forum. Sadly don't know where that kind of data can be found in game unless the devs. have it.

Putting pressure is possible on non meta killers. Doesn't have to be map pressure either. Consistently chasing someone, using perks/addons, or getting rid the number of survivors in a game can put pressure on the survivors that they are running out of time to escape.
@MisterCremaster I can see how camping might be overblown as people aren't specific, or sometimes the word is just being thrown out there with no reasoning. Even so, I don't think camping was reduced significantly because killers will still camp if they think the method can give them a win or they want to see some salt.
Idk if putting more time into repairing a kicked gen or opening the gate would help. People still criticize the game even though Ruin, Remember Me, Pop Goes the Weasel, Sloppy Butcher etc. slow down the game.
-
@Tsulan Some would go for the gens to kick them especially if they have Pop Goes The Weasel. Others would prefer to search around the area, and see if they can hit someone nearby because that would cause another survivor to stop repairing and get the hooked survivor.
A killer can still see the survivor's aura behind a gen. It's not a very clear shade, but the outline of the survivor's shape can be noticed. Because of this, killers would just run towards that gen to find that survivor or at least kick the gen.
I asked that question to point out the reason why camping still exists as barbecue didn't stop this method. Imo, the perk gave killers an easier way to find survivors faster to try to put more pressure instead of countering the camping strategy.
-
@Tsulan said:
So a perk that reduced camping is bad for stealth? I never knew that the rice farmer on the field is stealthy. I always thought the ninja in the same room as his victim was stealthy.I don't think barbecue reduced camping. Killers still camp whether they are using the perk or not because they want to secure a kill. Gates are open and you get someone on the hook. Would you go for the 3 people closer to the gate, or take the one life you caught already?
Four seconds to wait for the aura to come off, so you can change directions doesn't always work especially if the killer is a Hillbilly running to you. Killers would also still camp, patrol, or search around if they didn't see the survivors' auras because he/she would assume "oh they must be around here."
-
If instaheals are that big of an issue, why isn't Franklin's demise meta? Seems like most of you guys don't like ultra rare or rare addons even though killers have these type of addons to. Might as well just say that survivors shouldn't use the best addons at any rank.
Now if the issue is there are too many people using these addons, I'm fine with having a limit on how many items or addons a team of survivors can have in a match. Just have to balance on how big the limit should be. -
@switch said:

I don't think the devs. would only allow the killer to change the map for solo/SWF. In Kill Your Friends, the host can choose the map. Even if the devs. did make this change, they would have to delete all of the map offerings that people had spent with bloodpoints.
As to your comment on DbD being a stealth game, it's more of a strategy. The devs. never said that survivors had to play stealthy to win.
The reason why most survivors don't like The Game is due to:
1. Generators are hard to find. Sometimes the sound of a generator doesn't help in finding it because the gen could be on the next floor or it's on the other side of a wall.
2. Most generators tend to be very close to each other quite often (usually around the stairs), therefore the killer doesn't have to run too much to get to the next generator.
3. The Doctor's cancer build consisting of unnerving presence, ruin, distressing, and addons to increase madness by being in his terror radius. Because the map is small horizontally and longer vertically, survivors feel like the doctor's terror radius is covering 2/3 of the map. In the past, I think someone mentioned the terror radius is in a sphere-like shape, so survivors can hear the terror radius even if the killer is on the other floor.
4. Compared to old maps, the totem spawn points are hidden better.
5. Like Lery's, blood and scratch marks are easier to see on most parts of the map (exceptions the frozen and bloody room). This means it's more harder to lose a killer in a chase when there's no bushes, shadows, etc.
6. For beginners, this map has dead ends.I understand certain maps are tough on killers, but survivors have issues with them to. Overall, it's up to the player to take advantage with these issues, or come up with strategies to win that match.
-
Don't know how that would impact on the game's business, but it could help with the grind to earn new skins that come out in future patches.

@fcc2014 said:
1. Requires dedicated servers.- You need to check the killers ping and the other survivors. If it is bad move to a new lobby you may lose someone during the load in. If they rage quit nothing you can do.
- I don't know if that would work because the game ends if the killer leaves the game. Even if the game continues when the killer leaves, Evader and Benevolent emblems cannot be fulfilled. Then it becomes a survivor race to get a pip in Lightbringer.
- I can see how checking ping for the other survivors can occur on the killer's point of view, but a survivor can't see his/her teammate's ping. A survivor can ask every other teammate what their ping is, but that can be tedious to ask that question in every lobby.
-
My guess is most people are used to a looping strategy than trying to find other methods to escape in a chase. "Losing a killer" in a chase can be difficult with scratch marks, tracking perks/addons/killer's power, and not knowing when is the best time to hide during a chase.

The survivors are obviously a lot tougher then us puny humans.
How to get up after a chainsaw hit and many other injuries:
1. 1000 pallet drops
2. 100 fast vaults
3. 100 enter/exit of a locker
4. Lift 1000 survivors
5. A 100 mile run
6. Finally, 1000 crouches to finish the day
7. Steps 1-6 are repeated everyday.
