Ok lets nerf Dead hard then, survivors rely on that perk way too much. I wonder how they will respond.

But Dead Hard isn't even that good. Once the survivor uses it, the killer just has to wait for them to use it. Easy counterplay. Something like Sprint Burst is better in most cases.

Im Rank 1 killer right now, Ruin helps weak killers build pressure, and without it they are even weaker. Behavior took out the "what" without addressing the "why"

Im just gonna past my reply from another thread:

It's the maps and how most killers lack any sort of pressure. You get a larger map as a lower end killer, gens are going to fly by as they will be close to popping if not already by the time you get there because you had to walk for 2 minutes to cross the map.

It's why killers like Spririt or Billy who have that movement speed to build pressure do well on most/all maps, they can play around the size, but legion or clown just get rammed and now that ruin is a best a passing thought, they are even weaker

Map control is the most important thing. I definitely think they went too far too fast, but people saying they are gonna stop playing just because of the Ruin change are REALLY overreacting.

just like survivor's who cant live without DS or borrowed time.

    Exactly.

Killers have already been using ruin BECAUSE of how BADLY this game is balanced around gen speeds and "map pressure". killers NEEDED the time that ruin bought. and with this current version of ruin? it is garbage. now more than likely by the time you hook 1 person, GARUNTEE, whether they are able to hit greats or not. 1 gen will pop when you hook a survivor with a 2nd gen close to popping if not already popped. AND YOU ONLY HAVE GOTTEN 1 HOOK. Q times for survivors in red ranks was already bad. but now? I firmly believe that the amount of red rank killers that will actually keep playing after this change will only be in the double didgets.

if someone asked me "what is THE WORST thing BHVR could do to this game balance wise?" my answer would be to nerf ruin. and BOY did they not just NERF IT, THEY LEGIONED IT

well according to most people on these forums survivors need a major nerf because of fast gen speeds

We're not talking about gen speeds, we're talking about the abilities you are proposing. I'm talking about how YOUR idea would be in the MINORITY because it changes EVERYTHING about the game. The vast majority wouldn't be comfortable with basically having to relearn every little combination. Pick a topic and stick with it, dude.

  • @EverflowingRiver said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/892652#Comment_892652

But what happens when a minority is ignored for too long? They leave. Then a new minority is formed, and once they are ignored, they leave too. It is possible to help a minority of players while keeping the majority in mind; the two are not mutually exclusive.

We are talking strictly about a killer whose power is completely and utterly broken. There is no way for them to craft a power that checks all your little boxes without pissing someone off. You know that phrase "you can't please everyone"? It exists for a reason. THAT is the point.

  • No, I said "I don't think it's a terrible idea", not "I think it's a good idea". I'm not agreeing with your OP, but I'm merely stating that adding unbalanced things to an unbalanced things is a terrible idea. Putting the game in an overall worse state for the sake of abilities that survivors don't even need. Removing the 4th perk slot would make it unbalanced versus killers, which would mean you'd have to remove THEIR fourth perk slot or not add abilities all together, as it would overcomplicate the game and how much work the devs would have to put in.

And clearly, judged on how many people have commented on this post, your idea would probably end up being in the minority, and we know how well the devs listen to the minority when it comes to numbers.

  • @TKTK said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/892306#Comment_892306

I didn't say they should change things according to the minority, all I was saying is sometimes the minority do have good ideas that none of the majority are even thinking about and it's not a totally bad idea to atleast pay attention.

Devs rarely pay attention to the minority. They pay attention to numbers. The majority always outweighs the minority in any business, because it's better for the game's overall health. If they upset the larger subset of people, that's more backlash, more people quitting, more negative reviews, which all impact income, potential sponsorships, DLC agreements with other companies, etc. They HAVE to listen to the majority or else their numbers will take a serious dive. It's unfair, but it's a business.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/892631#Comment_892631

I never wanted them to instantly implement survivor abilities, that's impossible. I'm talking about when it's convenient for them to do so. Besides who said they would have to be unbalanced?

Okay, you're missing my point. Something, someway, no matter how hard they work or how meticulous they are, a survivor's ability, when paired with certain perks and maps, would be unbalanced. It always happens. There will always be that one person who finds something that makes healing 2 survivor states happen far faster than it should, or find some way to make a 40 second exhaustion time go to 20 seconds instead. It's coding, it's never perfect. That's the point I'm trying to make. I'm not saying the idea is terrible, but it's not a good idea as of this moment in time. That is what I'm trying to tell you.

  • @Sluzzy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/892583#Comment_892583

Purposely ignoring a small subset people and they are disadvantaged because of it is discrimination. Nurse and legion are black sheep.

No one is disadvantaged because of a rework that a small group of people don't like it. You can't please everyone. Please bring a legitimate point to this discussion. No one is talking about discrimination, it's a basis of opinion. If the devs see that the majority doesn't have a problem, then it won't get fixed. Again, skin color is irrelevant. Everyone has to face the same killer, how THE SURVIVOR IN QUESTION deals with it is what matters. Perks they have, their play style, the killer's playstyle, the map, the killer's perks, and individual experience between all players inside of the match in question is what determines whether or not someone can handle any supposed "disadvantage". If they can't that's their problem and their petulant whining won't do anything to solve the problem at hand.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/892607#Comment_892607

so you're saying since it has the possibility of being unbalanced it shouldn't be added to an unbalanced game...nice. Hypocrites on these forums never fail to impress. If the game is unbalanced why are people playing it lmao

But you're saying that added something unbalanced SHOULD be added to an unbalanced game? Is it horrible of me to want them to fix the issues the game currently has before they throw more gasoline onto the fire?

  • Because the game IS unbalanced. I play both sides, I know this. And I never said that it isn't possible, but that if it was, it wouldn't be balanced. No one can guarantee that they would be all balanced when taking literally EVERY perk into consideration and how it would impact certain abilities, making specific combinations better for specific situations, which would create a meta, which is what happens every time a great perk is released for either side. There is no denying that. If you do try to, then you're neglecting basic facts about this game and every game in general.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/892371#Comment_892371

Playstyles are what make killers unique. Also why would you see the same survivors every game if they are all equally powerful. Let's just ignore that many inexperienced players already complain about seeing only p3 claudettes. Ignorance is bliss, a true dbd connoisseur I see.

Because that's how things work. Whatever pertains to the meta is the most used. That's not ignorance, it's fact. How many people do you see running DS, Adrenaline and Dead Hard in higher ranks? Abilities would have the same consequences. And you know damn well that nothing in this game is ever "equally powerful". Something ALWAYS takes the top spot because that's how game metas work. But I guess it's like you said, ignorance is bliss.

  • @Sluzzy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/892306#Comment_892306

That is very much like being racist. Imagine telling a black dude his opinions don't matter because all the whites have already voiced their opinion.

The fact you're bringing race into a conversation that is clearly about numbers is really funny. Actually read what I posted, and you'll see we're actually talking about the numbers of players.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

Do you think the devs will make survivors more than just skins? How could they do it? (Without breaking the game)

Seeing the exact same survivors every game wouldn't be fun for literally anyone. It's fine the way it is. Playstyles are what make survivors unique.

  • Okay...killer here.

Why does everyone complain about survivors doing gens? "Gen Rushing" is an idiotic term, just like "Tunneling" and so on. That's literally their main objective...that's their ONLY main objective, aside from the exits gates. If you can't grasp the basics, allow to explain. In Dead By Daylight, all matches come down to this:

Each survivor tags in and out with the killer while other survivors do gens.

That's the most basic concept. If you're a good killer, no one can get to the exit gates before you kill everyone. And that, is a personal issue, NOT a DBD issue.

  • @Hex_Stalk said:

Like damn, can't the crap players play with the crap players for once? Nooooo Let's have a swf of 1 red rank with the rest being bloody GREEN. I'm a green rank, I shouldn't have to deal with this bull. It's impossible for me and most likely many others because you have a somewhat good team with a cocky little red rank who thinks they're king of the damn world.

And then they have the balls to talk trash after, like seriously??

Because...people wanna play with their friends...?

Also, you do know that if there is a red/purple rank with lower rank SWFs, then the system has compensate for the increased experience and put them with a killer in the medium levels between the gaps of ranks? It's the ranking system's issue, not the survivor's problems.

thats fair and it is but I like being kind to the fact that "it does look very nice" but its also super flawed and I understand that

unfortunately as a rank 12-15 killer I dont have the skill to work around it and Ill just be seen as a whiner

Then you're going to have to find the skill to work around it. Don't let them chase you into areas like that or just play killers that shut down chases really quickly. Simple solution to a simple problem.

I just think they should consider the minority a bit more than what they seem to right now. There was alot of feedback on legion that went completely ignored with some genuine good ideas that would have made them both fun and effective.

"I just think they should consider the minority"

You do know what the minority is...right? Like, the actual definition of "minority"? If the vast majority of players aren't having issues, why would they even consider the small group of people who are complaining about something? If they change it, they be upsetting the majority and catering to the minority, which is not something anyone should do in any business, especially video games. If it's not seen as a problem to the majority, then it won't get changed. That's how it works, sis.

  • The fact that you're calling this "fat shaming" is honestly laughable and quite embarrassing. Just call it what it is, poor map design.

So, whats the point of PTB then?

Whats the point of knowing a glitch it there, a glitch that basically can turn the game into a state of inability to play for one side to the point where dc'ing is literally the best option because it's that or sitting running into a wall until the killer decides to come murder you

There are changes made right before release that impact the game in ways that weren't expecting. How do you know they haven't tried to fix the issue straight before release, but since they had a deadline, they weren't able to test the fix? You can't know everything and calling them "greedy" isn't exactly on the nose, for lack of a better term.

Though that better term would probably be, unreasonable.

Nah nah nah, ship the game with a no wiggle bar if another survivor is in the terror radius when you get picked up you can't wiggle, WHEN A NEW PERK COMES OUT ENCOuRAGING PEOPLE TO BE WITHIN THE TERROR RADIUS.

OR the basement glitch, where, if you go down and get put in the basement YOU DON'T GET TO SEE ANYMORE.

The state the devs shipped this game in is unacceptable by any standards.

Yeah, this basement glitch has ruined a couple of games for me. But with every patch comes issues. Some that even the developers don't catch. That's just coding, sis.

I know I might sound salty but I´m so sick tried of BS that Devs give to us. Underwhelming or Useless Perks on both sides. deliberately coming out with weak or meh killers.Broken Maps that still need fixing. And don´t get me started on the toxicity. They refuse to listen to us on good feedback to help make the game overall a more fun experience. dbd is like a painted coin it looks nice on the outside and you pick but then the gold paint fades away to reveal the rusted sliver. The Devs only cared about the money dbd makes. I really Love Dead By Daylight, I really do, but I´m so sick and tried of band aid fixes. I really hope that devs stop being being money hungry and focus on The game´s health because if they keep up this type of behavior, Dead by Daylight won´t make it to year five.

on a positive note, The design are have really step up their game this year. The devs should really give them a raise.

It's up to each individual player. Just because you think that we shouldn't give them our money because you think they are "money hungry" is an insult to the people behind the game and an insult to the people who pay to support said developers. Yes, they have made some bad choices throughout the years this game has been up, but they have also done a lot of great things. That's not them being careless about the game, but them not completely understanding what is good for DBD and what isn't (Prayer Beads, old Legion, etc.)

At the end of the day, the DBD team is doing what they, as the makers of their game, think is best for their game, when considering its long term health. The game has been up for years and they are still releasing tons of content for us! Do you know what keeps the content coming?

    MONEY.

Of course, there are still things that need fixing. EVERY VIDEO GAME EVER MADE has problems that need to be repaired. But the fact that these issues are getting fixed means that they are actually listening to their community and give a crap about how we feel. Because if they didn't, their game, their product that they are selling to us, the consumer, would have failed years ago.

    TLDR: Girl, you better chill.

    Dear community,

As you probably know, update 3.4.0 was supposed to come with a whole bunch of exclusive cosmetics including 4 very special cosmetics : The Huntress' Hound Mask / David King's New Year Donkey / Kate Denson's Free Song Bird Top / Hillbilly's Pro-pain Hammer.

2 of these cosmetics were from the Howling Grounds Lunar New Year event.

2 of these cosmetics were from the Summer BBQ event.

As of the release of update 3.4.0, the devs have decided to withdraw these 4 cosmetics from the batch they were giving us for free because the players that earned them fair and square during the event didn't feel satisfied that they would just be given for free to everyone (which is TOTALLY UNDERSTANDABLE). I would have done the same.

I am however disappointed to not be able to get these cosmetics. I have been following this game since shortly before the Halloween Chapter came out (I discovered the game on YouTube). At the time, my computer was an Acer Aspire V5 (try to run DBD on that !). Furthermore, I didn't have the necessary revenues to afford Dead By Daylight or any of its content.

Still, I was following the game because I felt like it deserved to grow (and look where its come).

I was up all night to see the 10 000 000 th coin added to the counter for Feng Min's New Year polo and I was so happy that the player base at that time had teamed up to earn something together !

I personally think that some of us who didn't get the cosmetics deserve them as well as the players who put all their efforts in the game at the time of the events.

This is why I came up with this COMPROMISE :

When update 2.0.0 released, the devs opened the in-game Store, allowing us to buy cosmetics and DLCs for Auric Cells or Iridescent Shards. Their goal (and you can check back their 2.0.0 dev stream on YouTube) was to make sure that there was a way for players to grind points to access content rather than making everything cost money. However, they were aware that some people weren't into grinding points and they made everything affordable for real money as well to give you the choice (Farm or Pay).

As of today, most of the events cosmetics are available in the in-game Store (Hallowed Blight, Hallowed Catalyst, Moonrise, Ugly Sweaters (wasn't an event but the sweaters were seasonal outfits) and even the All Hallow's Eve event included the nurse's pumpkin head cosmetic that was handed out for free).

WHAT I WANT (and probably others) : I would like the 4 withdrawed cosmetics to be in the in-game Store, in accordance to what the devs intended to do with their game in the 2.0.0 update. Of course, to be FAIR : I would also like all these cosmetics to be worth Auric Cells ONLY (as the other events cosmetics are).

Please, if you feel like this compromise is worth it, rate this post up. It would help me a lot :'D

Let us all keep the game fair and give everyone even chances of obtaining what others achieved in the past. Even if we are late to these events, us joining the game (and I've only been playing since June 2019) means that we are also contributing to the player base growth and we shouldn't be left aside.

    Hear us out !

If you've been reading all the way, congratulations and thank you !

    Best Regards,

    MrGolden32467

I honestly couldn't care less. If they choose to give out or to not give our certain cosmetics, then it's their choice. I'm not gonna go make a petition for cosmetics that aren't even really that good. Plus, they don't impact gameplay in anyway, shape or form. If the people who earned those skin don't feel like the Devs should be giving them out, then they can go make their own game and plan out how they give cosmetics that way.

It seems like everyone is quick to call something toxic. Some of the dumb ones to me are.

    1) looping- what are the survivors suppose to do. I get that its annoying but I don't see it as toxic.

    2) body blocking- this isn't toxic either. You are saving your teammate by sacrificing your health. Just hit em. I don't understand this one.

I think people like to label things as toxic and nobody understands the meaning of it anymore just like how everyone does not understand the meaning of tunneling anymore because what people will do now is if the killer goes after the same person before he downs and hooks somebody else its apparently tunneling. For those who may not know, tunneling is when the killer refuses to go after anybody else except for you. No, just because you were unlucky and the killer happens to find you again after they left you doesn't mean they are tunneling

People throw around the word "toxic" way too much.

I'm kinda fighting on if i should get clown or plague.

I want to get clown because of his perks but plauge looks like shes a bit fun

Clown's perks aren't that great, if I'm being honest. Coulrophobia isn't good unless you're running it with Distressing, Infectious Fright and Nurse's Calling (a anti-healing meme build) and Bamboozle is pretty situational on whether or not you'll get use out of it. It's usually better to go around and object and moonwalk instead of vaulting and giving the survivor more distance.

Plague's perks, on the other hand, are a lot better. Infectious Fright gives you the ability to predict flashlight saves or helps to find that last survivor hiding next to the person you downed and you can get a lot of use out of it with Distressing. Dark Devotion is a guilty pleasure, but is really situational on whether or not it will be good enough to use. Corrupt Intervention is a fantastic alternative to Hex: Ruin if you're not able to obtain it on your killer and can help for killers with a slow early game (Trapper, Hag, etc.) so it has a lot of great capabilities.

Plus, it's easier to loop the Clown, in my opinion. I love playing Plague but I hate going against her. She pushes survivors into a really uncomfortable position. If you cleanse your sickness, you give her the potential to wipe out the entire team of people who haven't cleansed and can making unhooking survivors an absolute disaster. Or, if they don't cleanse, they can get one-shot the entire game and make tracking them super easy.

I've been rushing gens as fast as I can and even that has not helped, it is very intriguing to see this, this is a great time for Blood Warden plays but no one has been using it either.

I would recommend remaining somewhat stealthy for as long as possible, then, once someone gets hooked, have someone open the gates and as soon as that endgame bar pops up, unhook them. If the killer is nearby, do EVERYTHING in your power to keep them from getting downed.

Though one of my friends sandbagged someone and they got hit with NOED, opened the gates, then unhooked them, so it's just up to what you wanna do, lol. Good luck with the Archives.

Which word best describes how you feel after a session of DBD?

It honestly depends on whether or not I managed to obtain my personal goals in the match or whether or not I pip, get a 4k, escape the match, etc. It can range from excited from outplaying the killer/survivors to stressed out or pissed off at myself for missing obvious blinks.

  • Both sides have their pros and cons and when I'm burned out from one, I'll play the other.

  • Plague main, so I'm a bit biased. But Spirit isn't something I would suggest. You'll probably get bored of her really quickly like most people have.

I've seen a lot of people recently complain about how the Oni has no counterplay. Although I agree with that, is that necessarily a bad thing? From my understanding, the Oni has similar counterplay and even playstyle as the Plague. Keep people injured, force them to heal or they get punished. Plague really doesn't have counterplay either, but for the longest time I haven't seen complaints. Is it just because the Oni is new?

    Plague main here...

She absolutely has the ability to be counter played. But most people don't know that because Plague is one of, if not the most unpopular killers in the game.

  • @kate_best_girl said:

So the two perks im talking about are the perks that are arguably the worst perks in the chapter.

Blood Echo: The agony of one is inflicted on others.

When hooking a Survivor, all other injured Survivors suffer from the Haemorrhage

Status Effect until healed and the Exhausted

     Status Effect for 45 seconds.

Blood Echo can only be triggered once every 80/70/60 seconds.

    And

Lucky Break: You've had your share of scrapes and bruises, but luck's always on your side.

Lucky Break activates any time you are injured.

While Lucky Break is active, you won't leave trails of blood for a total of 120/150/180 seconds.

Lucky Break becomes permanently deactivated for the remainder of the Trial once the total duration has elapsed.

Now, what would you guys think would be good buffs for these perks OR if you think they're fine, how would you use them effectively either in a build or by themselves? Id love to hear your ideas c:

I think Dance With Me, Lithe, Lucky Break and Iron Will would be a FANTASTIC combination during chases. If you can break line of sight, being discovered by the killer will be very difficult.

Oh! You want me to state some good things about playing on console? I play on PS4, you would love to know how it's like, wouldn't you?

People are gonna cry no matter what. Whether you win or lose.

    I wholeheartedly agree.

Does anyone else have this problem when playing wraith where youll get comments for cheating for using the "all seeing" add-on as well as getting called a camper and tunneller because you go visable at the hook to someone unhooking after you just looped the intire map and saw them run to the hook yet when you use any other killer and do the exact same thing no one batters an eyelid. Personally after having a whole week of this i really cant bring myself to play wraith because hes simply no longer fun anymore because of this

As an Xbox player and a Plague, Nurse and Hag main, I completely see where you're coming from. But please don't give up on a fun killer like Wraith just because some Survivors are legitimate crybabies over add-ons. Play the game however you want. Don't care about how they feel. Facecamp and tunnel till your heart's content, if that's what you want to do. It's not your responsibility to internalize their constant whining.

She is. Alot of people sleep on her honestly lol

    Nearly P3 on Jane...

I only like her because I love her cosmetics. Her perks aren't the best (though Head On is a guilty pleasure of mine) but I'd honestly prefer to play a survivor that isn't as...I think "loud" is a generous word to use? I just throw other people's perks on her and that's it. I rarely use her perks. I think Poised needs to see a buff and so does Solidarity. If they made positive changes to those perks, I can see a lot more usage out of Jane.

  • Based on who I'd least like to go against...I'd have to say Bubba. Killers with instadowns are my worst nightmares.

Not to derail my own thread here, but as a former Nurse main, I just straight up find her unfun now. Dropped the character since games with her are more soul destroying than any other killer outside of Leatherface and too many consecutive Huntress games (her song gets to me). Having way more fun with Wraith right now, oddly. So while I will not argue she's still capable of performing in strong hands, I will 100% argue it's a fun problem she has now.

I'm starting to find her the same way. She's good to me, but I'm not really sure if it's worth learning her anymore. It's the same with Spirit for me, honestly. Maybe it's just my bad experiences with both killers in my survivor games, but they are just less appealing to me now then before I picked them up (I still hate playing as Spirit though). I'll have to give Wraith a try though. I would recommend playing Hag, she's honestly really fun for me.

  • I like to have my Survivor and Killer sensitivity on the same level, so it's 75% on both. It took a while to figure out what I like for both.

Matchmaking in general is busted now. Thanks, dedicated servers! :)

It's not a dedicated server problem, it's a Dead by Daylight problem. Matchmaking has been an issue for as long as I can remember.

Certain killers lose out on chaser points due to how the game defines what a chase is. Typically you get chaser points 2 times while chasing a survivor. Youd get them for hitting to injure, then again for hitting to down. A killer who's power bypasses that loses out on chaser points. If I use Hillbillies saw to bring you from healthy to downed, I dont get the same chaser points as I would from using my mallet to hit you twice. Similarly, if a survivor steps in Trappers trap, and gets scooped up... thats again a lack of chaser points.

This is an example of a game where I kept finding and downing ppl instantly, then hooking them up. This game consisted of 2 mallets and 3 saws, which gave me a 4k in about 2 minutes. Notice my complete lack of chaser...

They need to fix the emblems, honestly. I don't think the devs are even paying attention to killers with instadowns. I stopped playing Myers just because I could never pip with him. If I went into tier 3, I was sure to bypass the chaser emblem and end up only getting a safety pip...even if I got a 4k.

They killed off a viable killer and lightly nerfing a second killer for red ranks so the shortage is inevitable. I've taken a break until they fix the nurse.

But the Nurse is still really good though. You just actually have to pay attention to where you are blinking now so you don't waste charges. It's not a nerf. But now it's even harder to learn her, so it's fair that it turns some people away from her. As a Nurse main, it kind of hurts my heart to see so many people beg for a fix on something that isn't bad.

I think the problem is that it is way easier to rank up as a survivor than it is a killer.

I play both sides, and I heavily agree with this. I'm almost rank 6 as Survivor and I'm just now scratching rank 13 for Killer and I've been playing both equally for the season. Really frustrating.
