Deathslinger. Batteries Included, NOED, Rapid Brutality, STBFL and Nurse's, Coup, Unrelenting, Monitor. Tin Oil Can and Warden's Keys for add-ons.

Cheryl's cosmetic sets getting unlinked would be enough.

During the anniversary event, only players who put down an event cake offering profit from the extra bp.

They probably have the Twins in mind with the removal of slugging. That's too bad, too, because two Victors downing and slugging eight Survivors sounds like the most fun you can have in the mode.

Chucky, easily. I know I'm going hear AHHHHHHHHHHHHH as soon as I get unhooked against 90% of Chucky players. Plus Scamper is annoyingly free
I was watching a streamer play Chucky with Rat Poison and Lethal Pursuer, it's basically hacking. The gameplay is definitely not great, but the voice lines (both Chucky and Tiffany) make me enjoy playing against them. Same thing with Xenomorph, the design is so cool that it makes up for the unfun mechanics.

Hag, Plague, Twins, Artist are top four. Last one, between Bubba (unfortunately), Spirit, Pyramid Head (like facing him, too), and Knight.

Yes background player needs a change. And for the people buckle up shouldn’t have synergy. But now we complaining about all exhaustion perks? And I saw this other streamer (won’t say his name) complain about how Blastmine has no counter play. How many more nerfs do survivors need?😭
BHVR's far better off following the example of Fortnite (the game that has more concurrent players than DBD, COD, Apex, TCM, PUBG combined) than listening to the playerbase when it comes to exhaustion perks. Early Fortnite, your character moved without much dynamism; running was more like a brisk jog. Over time, though, they've added sprinting, mantling, climbing, sliding, hurdling, etc., and the game is far better off as a result. Year 1 players complain about every change the game has gone through except movement. It's almost universally agreed upon as having improved the game.
Playing Survivor without exhaustion perks, it's like early Fortnite. Your character's actually jogging while being chased by Killers with supernatural powers, including speed. The role feels slow without exhaustion perks and playing without them puts you at a disadvantage. Exhaustion perks are both feel good perks (like Fixated and Urban Evasion are) and needed to compete. If BHVR ever nerfs exhaustion perks I will quit and a lot of other people will, as well. The game is also supposed to be about fun and not just competitiveness.

Just played 5 games tonight and every single one was a 4k for the killer. The MMR system clearly doesn't work. I'm not sure how much more of this I can take. This game is just a frustrating experience for solo q.
I had the same experience. I had to play PS4 Trickster to switch things up; I 4k'd with him.

I think what she and other streamers see as removing "skill expression", I tend to view more as BHVR's attempt to equalise certain aspects of the game. Whether that's to remove arguably unfair game mechanics affecting only a handful of Killers, or to bring the capabilities of PC Killers more in line with those of console players, I think what they're trying to do is make a more polished and consistent experience for everyone. When you consider that most of the player base is on console and plays DBD fairly casually, how can you justify 1000+ hour PC gamers having additional competitive advantages because they learned how to
exploit unintended bugs"express their skill", when they almost certainly already have enough skill to beat nearly everyone else that plays the game?I can understand why highly experienced players would be more upset about these things being removed from the game than maybe I would be (I never experienced them as a recent player). They need new things to learn and experience after so many thousands of hours of game play. Slushie admitted as much in the video, there's not much left for her to learn.
Can anyone really say they're surprised that after 1000's of hours, some players are growing a bit tired of the game play loop? I honestly can't think of any game that I've put more time into than DBD (unless I've being playing that game for 30+ years).
I'm also taking a break too. Because I feel like I do need a break to keep the experience fresh (and for other reasons as well, mainly my frustration at sinking so much time into the game, but not being a much better player than when I first started).
They're making a lot of Killers too easy on PC. That's a fact. Huntress doesn't need 7 hatchets for PC when they have 120 fps. How hard is it to backrev a Survivor with Hillbilly on PC considering he has a non-existent cooldown? These Killers are busted on PC.

Most Survivor skill-expression is lumped into game awareness and map knowledge. It's mindgames mainly.
So the argument that UVX can't be dodged is so bad. You can predict the shot and move to a position that makes it impossible for Unknown to get you. Or look behind you with enough distance and watch the projectile path and move away from it.
You know what's really funny. Survivors can easily counter being zoned or 3-gen'd by simply w-keying it away from the area they're defending. Take the health state and move away. Give your team time to progress them, and then it's their turn to take them away from the gen area.
Unknown is the best Killer BHVR have ever released. It has all the tools to not play them in a boring way. Being able to feel like you can take a chase in any part of the map is very rare for a lot of the roster to have. On top of having a very interactive counter play too.
I completely disagree with this post. Once people figure out how to play as and vs Unknown, (which good players already have btw) the matches should be very fun. But as it is, Survivor players are entitled and think/assume they can get Killers nerfed to the point of them having to camp, slug, tunnel and 3-gen in order to get an interaction that they can win from. It's the most ironic crap ever. They'll moan about a fun killer before learning how to get better and counter them, and when they're nerfed they moan that everyone plays the same. It's so stupid.
The Killer is extremely boring. You're a bot if you play this killer on mnk.
-
BHVR is probably not going to reduce the splash damage radius of his ranged attack (even though they should), but they could make the ability to reduce Weakened state a little more consistent. I was looping an Unknown around an l/t wall tile with my camera on him the entire time and the Weakened went down by about 30%. At the same time, it wasn't like the Unknown player was trying to stay hidden. That's supposed to be the design, Unknown is supposed to get out of sight lines.
He's like a "hold W" Killer. New Clown and Huntress are kinda the same. They make a beeline for you and just spam the ability. If you zig-zag they hit you with melee, if you run in a straight line they hit you with the power.

Slinger too. Might alter this entire list...
I play on PS4. Deathslinger is probably my most played Killer and feels way more natural to me than Chucky. I didn't hit a single Slash and Dash with Chucky. More than that, though, he's 110 without a ranged attack or Hag's teleport or Spirit's phasing. He feels slow.

Serana from Skyrim as Survivor and her dad as Killer. Or Vecna from Stranger Things as Killer and older Dustin as Survivor. Or Patrick Bateman as Killer and Paul Allen as Survivor.

10 Strongest (not counting PTB Twins): Nurse, Spirit, Blight, Hillbilly, Oni, Artist, Plague, Hag, Twins, Wesker
10 Funnest to Play as: Xenomorph, Legion, Deathslinger, Singularity, Plague, Nurse, Pig, Twins, Pyramid Head, Spirit
10 Funnest to Play against: Bubba, Xenomorph, Pyramid Head, Singularity, Myers, Demogorgon, Hillbilly, Nurse (not a Nurse with 4k hours and Infectious Fright; when she's just decent, she's one of the funnest Killers to face), Huntress (when I don't get hit through walls), Deathslinger
-
It's a pretty dumb perk. Sometimes it gets cleansed early if not paired with Undying, but it's usually in a good spot and as long as the Killer gets one or two insta-downs, the match is over. It makes matches very anti-climatic.
-
Use both perks 100 times in solo queue. Report your results. I run both perks, often, always in solo queue. If I wanted results, I'd just tunnel as Killer.

I'd put Huntress in the top 10 highest skill requiring killers in the game. Not sure what makes you think she's low skill.
I also rarely see Huntress. I think I've seen 1 in the last 50 games I've played.
What's the evidence that she doesn't take much skill?
(1) She's likely the most popular Killer in the game; Wesker competes with her. What is difficult is never popular. (2) She's the only Killer that attracts many streamers that main a specific Killer. I can name LilithOmen as a Blight main and gtvel as a Hillbilly main. Otherwise, killer main streamers choose a variety of Killers or they're Huntress mains. (3) Players that are cracked at a multiplayer game is cracked at, more or less, all multiplayer games. 72hrs is cracked at Fortnite, Apex, TMC, this game, etc. Where are all these streamers maining Huntress transitioning over to other games to dominate? (4) Her hitbox just requires to be "good enough". I play PS4. My most played Killer is Deathslinger, he takes more skill than her. On Survivor, I usually have around 80 ping. Huntress thrives on that.

@RoastedGarlic said:
Buff his projectile, increase the weakened time, remove edging his power to drop clone.
Give Survivors their own projectile in exchange. Then, you might be able to begin to balance this Killer. You can't have splash damage range attacks in a game without at least giving your opponent (1) a weapon in exchange (2) use of environment for protection (3) a build mode like Fortnite and/or (4) dynamic movement, such as tactical sprint, mantling, jumping, etc. Unknown's opponents, they have none of these things.
DBD doesn't get ranged Killers right. Unknown's just the worst example. I played him once for a daily-- without perks/add-ons -- and just using his power, on PS4. There's little skill involved. That's the story for ranged Killers in this game, with the possible exception of Deathslinger that doesn't just try to zone Survivors.
-
Unknown because if it's going to get a grenade launcher then Survivors should be getting the ability to craft more booby traps or like slingshots to stun the Killer. Every new Killer comes with multiple abilities that are both strong and easy to use. 50/50 pallets don't cut it anymore. Survivors should be able to have a secondary objective that involves wits and skill. Running 40 seconds across the map to get Pinhead's box isn't a real secondary objective. Weapons crafting I think is the best option and Unknown's the reminder why. We can't even use the environment against it because the grenade damages through walls.
-
A typical DBD game lasts 8-12 minutes or something like that and the game's design is intended to not allow chases to last too long. The developers have to dumb down certain mechanics in order to achieve the pace and back and forth they're looking for. Stalking is supposed to be a drawn out process but for Ghostface to stalk in the game, it has to be accelerated so that's why it feels cheap some time. They're going to give Huntress beach balls in place of hatchets because forcing her to make fine adjustments to her aim will mean she won't keep up in chase.
Same thing with the UVX. It has massive splash damage. But this isn't a shooter game and, maybe outside of Deathslinger and Trickster, the range abilities aren't realistic like what you'd find in a DayZ or Fortnite. It's DBD's form of ranged ability which is meant to be 35% accurate/65% able to end chases quickly.
As far as looking back on Survivor, I play on PS4 so looking back can make my character feel like he/she is losing momentum. I've upped the sensitivity so that helps a bit. It does seem like you have to get very close to the new Killer to drain the Weakened state.
-
@NomiNomad said:
Giving Huntress and Unknown partial damage would be a terrible idea, at least imo. Trickster can have upwards of fifty knives. Huntress get's 10, at most. While I think the Huntress buffs were unneeded, she's totally fine, other than maybe her adeptness at camping. Your agrument for the game being a "slasher game" would be more credible if Huntress wasn't the, you know, the 5th killer added into the game? She's been apart of it for most of it's lifespan, now - and is probably one of the more inconic original killers they've added. I can agree that the hitboxes need tuned up, but a lot also depends on latency.
i think it's still too early to say against the Unknown, but it already needs to hit it's attack at least three times to get a down - and even more if the Survivor manages to get weakened off. if anyone is 'playing by their own rules'. it is and will always be Nurse.
My problem with the two Killers is that the game isn't faithful to ranged attack logic like it's faithful to melee logic. You spear a Survivor, you take a health state. There's no controversy. But Huntress and Unknown, close enough is the standard. Give Survivors 200 health points against Huntress and let her fringy shots be worth 67 health points. Let her centered body shots be worth 140. She can down a Survivor with an accurate body shot and one of her fringy shots. But, she can't down a Survivor with only two fringy shots. Let her get a one shot down for a headshot; it's 200 points. Survivors would disconnect on the head shot but it would be more fair and easier to digest than getting downed after turning the corner, feeling like you beat her and got away, but it turns out the edge of her circle clipped the edge of your hitbox. It's not going to change but I get hit after already turning the corner against her just about every match and the design for Unknown's ranged attack is rooted in that experience.
With Unknown, I would rather allow it to be more dynamic while requiring less from Survivors than have it exist in its current state. The cooldown between shots is reduced to 5 seconds, and a direct hit takes a full health state (hindered is not fun as Survivor; it should be for Clown's bottles and Freddy's bloodpools and nothing else). These are buffs. But, in exchange, Survivors have to stare him down for only 7 seconds (most Survivors, including myself, can't traverse the map while looking behind for too long before running into stuff) and they can get rid of Weakened by dispelling hallucinations. The blast radius of the UVX orb is reduced by 20% or something. I would think this is more fair and fun from the Survivor side.

@squbax said:
Nah, if they had partial damage they would just be worst tricksters.
"The venom is not that good but it's still going to down the Survivor pretty quickly. Especially when people learn all the angles and nuances of the power."
Are you seriously saying people getting value when learning the ins and outs of a power should not be a thing?
On the other hand, if survivors are good the unknown has 1 shot before they remove weakened, and that shot can be dodged, so you as a survivor have ample options for counterplay against unknown.
Finally, saying that these killers play on a whole different level either shows willful ignorance for the sake of the argument or very little experience playing said killers. As killer is not only the chase but the macro gameplay and projectile killers still have to play the macro game.
The venom attack is a problem because Survivors don't move with any sort of dynamism (Survivors are slow, can't jump, can't go prone, they're stunned when they fall from two foot heights, etc.), they don't have the benefit of using their environment for protection against the UVX (it hits through walls), and they have no means to attack the Unknown. You're going up against an opponent with a grenade launcher in any other game you need one or more of those things for a fair fight. Every other game gets it but DBD. I even think the power is kinda clunky and slow, but so are Survivors in DBD.
As far as learning the ins and outs, the game has brought in a lot of players -- new and returning -- with this update. As Survivor, what are their first impressions of grenade launchers and 10 hatchet Huntresses? I haven't played the game since the anniversary. These powers and buffs are questionable. The counterplay against the Unknown is a lot harder than learning to use its power.
As far as the macro, you can do gens against Huntress but you don't have a chance in the 1v1 against 10 hatchets or 7 hatchets with double wind-up. She has immense snowball potential. Infectious Fright used to be a feared perk. What about two or three Survivors caught out of position against a Huntress with 10 hatchets?
And I brought up new gen and mnk for a reason. Part of the supposed difficulty of Huntress is coming from old gen console players (Deathslinger is my most played Killer and I'm on PS4). She is not hard on new gen or PC, period. Solo survivor against The Unknown, the Killer is S Tier.
-
Maybe your experience is different, but the 6.1.0 update affected Solos more than the other two roles (Killer/SWF). Killer is far easier now than it was half a year ago. Numbers are numbers at the end of the day; the kill rate has significantly increased since 6.1.0.

Where did I bring up the game being Killer or Survivor sided? I said next to no one in my region plays Killer
Your post is about Killer not getting results; it's not the case. I do not play this game in a sweaty manner. When I play Survivor, it's Solo and I'm often going against streamers that 4k and care about their win streak. You're not having a hard time at it.
-
The game is not Survivor-sided. Survivors have a few maps and Discord. That's all . Go play Solo to learn.
-
- As far as maps being the reason Killers tunnel and camp, that was said prior about gens speed. 6.1 happened and camping and tunneling is as bad as ever. Killers will still tunnel because half of them want lame win streaks and tunneling is the easy road to take.
- Get rid of maps and really see how the only skillful role in this game at that point is Survivor. And the game is not going to be beginner friendly at all; you're not going to get new players. I know people who started but don't stay around because it's too hard and too sweaty. Take maps away from Survivors, you're only going to get SWF.
- Maps are something that should favor Survivors as long as full regression builds are still part of the game and tunneling and camping is so easy to do. Survivors need something for balance besides Discord.

Been getting more BM lately when playing surv, anyone else? Tense people.
I haven't noticed an increase in BM, but it does feel like more of the player base is taking advantage of imbalanced, broken stuff in the game. I'm re-downloading Skyrim on PS4 right now and thank God school starts next week. DBD is really unfun right now. I'm done with it for the time being.
-
If medkits and CoH were to be nerfed, it would have to come with significant nerfs to Killer perks, add-ons, and powers that debuff Survivors. It's always a sweaty, unfun match when a Killer stacks status effects. You have a ton of casual players simply bringing a brown medkit to ensure one heal in Solo. You're going to push those players out if you keep Sloppy and Franklin's and whatever add-ons as they are while nerfing medkits. The medkit discussion seems to just go one way on the forum.
-
All you really need is We'll Make It and teammates are usually happy to get a quick heal from it after getting unhooked.

This survivors you described are the power role, blame the devs that cather to them because they are where most of the money behavior gets. Killer is stressful yet no buffs to the basekit of each one.
10 seconds added to gens, 10% reduced cool down on weapon swipes, 10% less distance made by Survivors after losing a health state, 10% original Pop upon kicking a gen, buffed BloodLust. These are meaningful buffs to Killer basekit.
-
It wasn't "infuriating" but RNG-related frustration. I was playing as Pig on Mother's Dwelling over the weekend with a build of Monitor, Enduring, Huntress Lullaby, and Undying with Combat Straps and Shattered Syringe as add-ons. After loading in, I made my way directly to the furthest gen which had one of the totems right next to it. I figured they would cleanse it by the time I got to it but at least I could get into a chase and it would only be Undying anyways.
A Nea (high prestige and switched to the character last second in the lobby) clicked her flashlight at me about 15 meters from the gen/totem so I figured I would just chase her as she was probably protecting her teammate. The hex was cleansed right as the chase began. I went for a dash attack at the loop, missed, and then the second totem was cleansed. The second totem cleansed happened to be the one I was making my way to right as the match began.
It's Mother's Dwelling and both my totems (Lullaby/Undying isn't even that strong) were gone in 30 seconds, max. I didn't see where the first totem was but had it be in an obvious spot and a Survivor had to spawn right there, just like the other one. The match itself became a convergence of unfun things.
-
All multiplayer games become imbalanced in time because there's a split in every playerbase between "Sweats" and "Casuals". CSGO might be an outlier in that it only attracts competitive-minded players, but I've never played it.
For DBD, you could create separate queues. One for pub matches and the other for competitive. Competitive queues could earn rewards and cosmetics, or something. It probably wouldn't do much, though.

Well I've noticed after 2 mil it was still going up some, but then this week I just stopped looking at points. All this time it was capped at 2.1 mil and noticed it should be higher. I go hoover over the points and it said it caps at 2mil. I'm still sorta new to this game, and it's a noob mistake I suppose, but they should never cap your earned points. I mean why would they even want to? You earned them, if you choose to save them until you can unlock a character to use them on. Anyways I'm an idiot for not knowing how cheesy and frugal this game can be. It would be nice to get them back, but I'm sure it was at east 900k or more, but I'm not even going to bother asking support because I'm sure they will say like all games "theirs nothing we can do". Oh well, live and learn..
I'm guessing it is meant to get you to play more regularly. Fortnite is doing the same thing with their battle pass. Extra skin styles are being released at a rate of one per week rather than all at once. A player could unlock all the styles by playing steadily over the course of two weeks, or so, but now they have consistently play every week.
If there weren't a limit to the blood points, you could bank 5 million and wait a month until the next chapter release. At 2 million, you might not even be able to unlock all the perks when said chapter releases. You have to keep with it, if you make that choice. It's probably a smart business decision.

Dying Light is the big one of me. You could remove literally all of its downsides and it's still only okayish, nothing even that great. Get rid of the healing bonus, make it effect all survivors and make it stay after the obsession dies but it just can't get any more stacks. Even with all this you still wouldn't even see it that often, that's how bad it currently is.
Spies with aura reading would be completely broken on ranged Killers. I use on Deathslinger and it's strong as is. Add aura reading to it, it would make a farce of a 1v1.

Ah, that makes a weird kind of sense - I prefer a tactical style, which is likely why I've mained Hag and Artist since forever.
The only thing that grinds my grapes on Plague is how bad the RNG can be on her fountain placement at times. One game, you'll win because they were all clustered around the gens and main structure. The next, you'll lose because there's one in each corner on Grim Pantry or Eyrie.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3311528#Comment_3311528
Artist is held back by her addons. Her second best addon is a brown. Her iris are utter garbage. This also makes her a bit one dimensional.
As far as having to go far distances to gain your power, I have the same problem when playing Trapper. I always try to get all of my traps even when it doesn't benefit me. With Plague, though, there is more of a decision involved and the build you're using can influence it as well. There's strategy with her.

Wesker and Artist...love them to bits.
I don't think too deeply about DBD, but Plague is about "macro gameplay" and most players (including myself) aren't good at that. As far as 4 escapes when playing Survivor, it's against Plague and Ghostface most often. It's not a coincidence. Ghostface can lose gens quickly and Plague can lose time trying to infect Survivors or getting her red puke. It's not surprising that Otzdarva likes playing her.

I appreciate the thought and effort you put into this but maybe BHVR should just add the BP bonus back to Barbecue. I don't remember having so many strings of unfun games as Solo Survivor prior to the 6.1 update and I think the biggest change to Killer behavior is just the absence of BBQ. I went up against a Clown on Midwich yesterday with an extra bottle add-on, purple intoxication duration add-on, Deadlock, Pain Resonance, Eruption, and Call of Brine. He also camped and tunneled against what was likely four Solos. We got two gens done. Six months ago he might have been running BBQ which would have gotten him away from the hook. My first time getting downed was going for an unhook and he then proceeded to tunnel me. This is common "gameplay" at this point in Solo Queue.
Removing the BP bonus from BBQ has just resulted in Killers using four gen slowdowns and not, perhaps, developing the patience to learn game sense and the ability to find Survivors.

I try to hit the inner part of the Great range. If I'm late, it doesn't result in an explosion. This is on PS4, though, so it's more about going for greats but being cautious about it. I don't trust the input lag. Oppression skill checks don't seem to freeze anymore, I will say. If my team is winning, it's just better to hit normal skill checks.
