99ing exit gates should not even exist.

So the reason I think this is well.... pretty obvious,

It bypasses a whole element of the game called "the end-game collapse. This shouldn't be a thing as it just doesn't make sense. I don't think I actually need to explain why at all because you should know this. now my way of dealing with this is making the exit gates like ruin. but you don't need ruin. and it regressed at the same speed as gens or something. This has been a problem for far too long and it should not be a thing.

Good killers can't counter 99'ing gates? I think it's a matter of what happened before that gate was 99'd, friend. A good killer will never have to worry about countering a gate switch lol

As for the former part of that, those perks are nice and all but if a killer wants to tunnel and camp you then those perks will not help. They delay an inevitable outcome at that point.

well, it doesn't matter about perks most the time, it matters about the survivor, good survivors can outplay a lot of things, good killers can counter play things very well but 99ing gates, you just cant counter it. and 99ing is just boring and stupid in general. plus the collapse is there as a killing tool for survivors who do not make it out in time.

My suggestion is to use lights as check points so regression can't get less than 25/50/75% depending on number of lights

theres 3 lights so there would need to be 4. my idea is:

    44, 66, 88.

    or 40, 60, 80.

    or 50, 70, 90

  • EGC is purely a failsafe that forces a game to end, the fancy visuals and sound effects are just simple bonuses. Once a gate is open, the match has an absolute hard cap on how much longer it can last (assuming no cheaters of course), and if the survivors refuse to open them the killer has the option to do so.

Viewing it as anything else is just straight up expecting something from the mechanic that it was never designed to provide in the first place.

  • @ShadowNurseZFX i am sorry you just sound a little too salty -adds pepper- to this whole thing, sorry but 99 percent of a gen puts YOU in the favour more then the survs

so your gonna give up all your pressure and let them heal probably. just to open an exit gate. then they can take hits and escape? no lol. and they're not screwing their teammates over just because they didn't start the collapse to stop the gate regressing to 90 or 80. thats just how it should be, survivors have to make a decision not just 99 and be done with it

regression to 80% would suffice, like I said. and completely voiding a part of the game? no. what does camping and tunnelling void?

Camping voids the ability to save a teammate, which is part of the game.

Well with healing that was more or less a joke idk why you'd ever want to 99 your healing, and I could explain why 99'ing a gen can be good, but that's off topic. My point was just that 99'ing isn't unique to just exit gates, and that it's a completely fair strategy. It's a matter of investing time and preparing an escape. It's simple foresight and a use of the time you have at the moment to save yourself time later. The end game collapse is there so that survivors are pressured to leave once the gates open.

As for it being an "easy escape" I'm not sure that's fair to say. The survivors had time to leave anyways if they 99'd the gate, but why apply pressure to your teammates with the collapse and give them a sudden time limit to get to the gates? If they are healthy or so far ahead of you that they can hit the switch, squeeze through the doors, and run out, then something happened to put them in that advantageous position in the first place.

And like other people have said, there is No Way Out and Remember Me to help stall the end game even further. A 99'd gate is certainly not a free escape. If you pop that exit gate your whole team (including the killer) now has however long to get out or kill everyone.

Consider as well that the collapse activates when you close the hatch on the last survivor, and if the doors aren't 99'd at least then they're probably dead, so it helps in that scenario too. It's just a benign, completely fair strategy. Survivors invested their time well, and should totally be rewarded for it.

That said, I do not oppose a small regression to 90% if that were to be implemented.

they should have to make a decision though. to either help their teammate on a time limit or 90 the gate. and its also about killers. do killers have fun when the gates 99d they go to kill survivor they take hits etc and then open the gate once survivors are up ad then they escape? its not fair for killers at all, and counters a mechanic that was put in the game for the same reason 99ing gates should be removed, as much time as u wanted

survivors should be i think its a mechanic that punishes survivors for stalling too long. which 99ing fully prevents, and if its the game coming to a close, guess what? 99ing stops that too.

not at all. 99ing u can open it instantly pretty much, .01% chance of being grabbed and ensures your team victory unless you mess up horribly. and 99ing exit gates dont lose lives if you play it right.

Theres just gonna be someone standing at the switch to keep it 99%. also the end game collapse shouldn’t start when someone is getting chased since it’s unfair for that survivor.

Also, the endgame collapse was implemented so survivors can’t hold the game hostage. It’s not there to give the killer an advantage.

Just FYI as the killer you can open a gate yourself and you score 500 Bloodpoints for it. In fact I do it pretty frequently if I see a gate that's already at 99%. I figure once a gate is at 99% if I'm nearby I can open it, I get 500 Bloodpoints, the survivors get zero points because they didn't, and it starts the End Game Collapse timer that the survivors obviously didn't want to start right away.

Yeah, obviously you shouldn't open the gate yourself as killer if you think it will significantly help a survivor escape. But in a situation like that where all they have to do is tap the gate, there's really not much harm to you doing it first and it does give you some benefits.

It completely counters a part of the game and it should just not work like that. and just because "No Way Out" And "Blood Warden" Does not mean it should be like that, this also pretty much bypasses the punishment from blood warden. it 100% has to go.

I think it's completely fair that survivors prepare themselves and use their health states. They are playing efficiently, and should be rewarded as such. I understand in that sort of situation it's hard to get your win back but sometimes you just lose. People take hits all the time. I think the root of the issue you're having is not in the gate switches but in something else. Survivors have to be in the position to sit there long enough to get the gate open in the first place. If you're out chasing a survivor when the gens pop and someone is on the gates already, well that's the nature of a 1v4 game. They have the advantage to be in more than one place at any time.

It's simply a matter of planning ahead. The EGC kills survivors once it reaches zero, so it's only a threat to them. I think they have the freedom to avoid it for as long as possible. One last thing I'd say is that by that point, if the gate is 99'd, they were already going to escape and weren't pressured enough at that point to begin with.

  • i have said this many times. your not gonna take your focus off survivors for them to get unhooks heals, or just end chases etc to do that. it also pretty much helps survivors lol

maybe that can be tweaked but I'm looking at it as a whole not in a situation where 1 guy is left. maybe it can be 80% done and can only regress to 80% for 4 survivors with 5% increase to the regression end point. so 95% when there's one survivor. or when there's 1 survivor it invalidates this. I don't mind

yeah it is, survivors can exploit this by 99ing and the game wont end. this is exactly my point ,and they don't have to be put under pressure if hey 99 gates, 99ing will save you so much. and "opening gates" as killer is just a bad move. and maybe i do see it as a tool for kills, kind of... they're stalling the game completely to save their teammates. On top of this they should be punished for staying too long after collapse, if they try to 99, it goes to 80, or 90 Im not fussed. but it just is too dull and too safe.

EGC was created to stop hatch standoffs and taking the game hostage - it puts in a timer to have the game come to an end at a reasonable time instead of the hour+ it took before when one of these would occur. It was not created as a killer tool to help them get kills they couldn't get during the rest of the match even though that is a benefit and has made EGC killer sided. If a survivor is in need of help and the others 99% the doors it is so they can make a move to help that survivor the game is not being held hostage. EGC is working as intended, there is no exploit.

So if gate regression would curb 99ing a gate, how would you help a lone survivor attempting to escape since gate regression would kill any effort to 24 the gate?

What if 99 gates regressed back only to 75%?

If you enjoy EGC then open the door, as survivor or killer, you can do that. Others can leave the door at 99 and continue to make saves if necessary.

They should make it truly unbiased and any survivors left in the match don't get escape points and the killer does not receive sacrifice points, it is a draw. Put pressure on both sides to either get a kill or escape within the time limit, EGC rewards no one.

oh ye i forgot to comment on the actual subject

it should regress to some degree, either you start the timer or you don't get to run out the gate with the killer on your [donkey]

you don't get to have it both ways, and pretending it's a fair mechanic as it stands because the killer can cede all pressure to do it themselves is disengenuous to say the least

  • 99ing exit gates is fine the way it is, it doesn't need changing.

  • disengenuous to say the least

  • EGC was only made to solve the problem of holding the game hostage.

Anything involving inconveniencing survivors will never be put into the game. The developers called mori's "TOXIC" live on stream ffs while keys just got a little mention as though they were perfectly fine. If that doesn't tell you how deep in the survivors pockets they are then i don't know what will.

They will never change generators. They will never put another objective in (for survivors). They will never address SWF and they will continue to nerf killers that survivors DC against or parrot the word BORING on twitter to them.
