I would say the anti camp feature is a failure because of the lack of information it gives to your team mates, so it leads to such bad plays where your team (assuming you're solo) take hits or hook trade unnecessarily. I would hope in the future they implement a feature that shows the anti camp meter to your team mates so they know whether or not they should save.

Thanks for the comments guys, really appreciate the different stories you've all brought in. At first I thought it was just me, but im weirdly glad to hear others have been encountering more and its not just a me thing.
Good luck out there in the dog regardless <3

Not to sound mean, but this is an awful idea. Not only have you gave egotistical people the power to kill their own team mates, but you've given trolls alot of power. Imagine 3 survivor's who are sweaty, but 1 survivor gets out looped by the killer and goes down. Those 3 survivor's have now the power to ruin that person fun because all they care about is winning.
-
Old slinger was a problem because he had 0 counter play, being able to instantly aim down the sight was broken. Not to mention his terror radius. Slinger landed alot of awful shots, you could get shot working on a gen while not even hearing his terror radius. So you had a killer with no counter play and you could get shot without even being in his terror radius. It just wasn't a good design. Slinger is still good rn, he is arguably on a way better place now than ever before in terms of being healthy.
-
I agree, im shocked more people don't run it tbh. 30% for 1 totem is insane. Honestly it's one of those perks that need a nerf. Maybe move the gen speed reduction on pentimento to at least 2 totems needing to be hexed? Just needing 1 totem is way too little for the massive reward you get in turn.
-
Maybe you're playing dbd too much? It comes to a point personally for me where I experience the same things you're talking about, I get angry and I just cuss ect. But I find that it's just sort of being way too exposed to dbd, at times I take a break for months and when I come back it feels so much better. Maybe it's just one of those things where you might need to take a break?
-
Wow, I wasn't expecting this post to gain so much attention. Keep in mind, please keep talks to one another civil and kind, treat each other with respect too!
But I could probably summarise the biggest criticisms ive been reading about in regards to my original post.
"How can you have a competitive mindset while not wanting to play in such a way?"
I think it's interesting that people point this out, I really think the post should be reread. I do have a competitive mindset but I find playing this way to be fun, if I didn't make it clear I also find this playstyle to be non-competitive. Which admittedly after a ton of games as chase killers feels really nice to slip into, that mindset slips away and I can actually further enjoy my experience for what it is.
"Its okay to play this way, but people don't have to enjoy it"
100% agree, if anything I have even stated this in my original post. People don't have to enjoy it, it takes 0 skill to hold a 3 gen as a SM, but either way I'm not responsible (nor should anyone be) for the fun of the other player's I face. Needless to say, the survivor's of this community have often called many killers boring to face. Even basic m1 killers, so at some point it's an impossibility to please the other side.
Thank you for taking the time to read this again, I do hope you all have an amazing and active day <3

It honestly sounds like you have a competitive mindset (you admit as much in your post) but don't want to put in any of the work on mechanics or game sense. That's certainly your prerogative, but what is your plan when that playstyle is reworked?
Oh I definitely have the mindset, but at time's I would rather be out of that mindset and find more relaxing games. Of course its unfun to face, but just being able to relax and have fun (while admittedly playing in an unfun way) is actually quite nice.

>So I'm unfortunately one of those people who can't help but have somewhat of a competitive mindset
>But something about just listening to a podcast or some music while chilling and playing dbd feels nice.
BRO WHAT? Do you even know what competitive mindset means? Competitive mindset- someone who is annoyed by loses, so he improves to be the very best and never lose. Someone with competitive mindset doesnt play to "chill and relax". Of course, sometimes they do want to just chill, but its more of an exception. In fact, someone with competitive mindset will probably find your playstyle boring, because it doesnt involve skill or mindgaming.
What youre saying is very common annoyance by lose, everyone felt that until they strarted to treat DbD as entertainment or improved.
Besides, just go and play Spirit, shes chill and not difficult at all killer, but very strong at the same time. Yeah you cant listen to music, but its much faster and you get more of actual DbD gameplay from that.
I do know what it means for sure, but if you read what I said its more then clear ^^
I said it's more relaxing and fun. Not competitive and it results in very easy wins. So not being in a competitive mindset and actually gaining a ton of wins by just listening to music or podcast? Then for sure! Count me in ^^

No offense dude, but it just sounds like you don't like to play dbd... Because what this sounds to me is you don't like chase interaction but rather a relaxing game, with rather repetivie input from your side... I used to play wow like that some time ago while watching a movie or something but the question is do you actually like what you are doing or do you just want to do something while you are listening to a podcast or whatever.
Also why don't you play against bots then? I mean playing this style clearly shows that you don't care about the chase, OK I guess, but why ruin other people's day then by playing it against them?
Also as for chill games while watching a movie, just try an mmo or hack and slay thing like path of exile or something like that. Like I said, to me it seems like you don't really care what you re doing in the meantime, because that gameplay is not really engaging or anything, so you might as well try something else where you don't ruin 4 other people's day...
I 100% love dbd, I find the game super fun and engaging. But I also have to say that at times I like doing other things too, I enjoy the chase (I've been playing xeno almost non stop since release) so I definitely enjoy that aspect of the game.
But what I'm saying is, I enjoy also just relaxing and having a chill time. Again no offense taken, I get where you're coming from, but I find relaxing more on dbd is way more fun than an mmo

@diegaster said:
Play against bots and dont ruin the others experience. The things that you are saying that you can even listen to a podcast while playing, just says that SM is completely busted and needs no skill or concentration to play as. Certainly if you like that playstyle, you dont like DbD.
Nah I enjoy dbd plenty, but I find chase to be fun too!
Please re-read, I said I find the SM style relaxing

Holding a 3 gen for an hour is also both holding the game hostage and not intended gameplay according to the devs.
Let's hope they roll out bans and hotfixes for both issues as soon as humanly possible.
Right but that's quite literally game design, knight and skill merchant (arguably SM more) are literally made with the intent to be good at holding an area. What's not intended is invincibility, not being able to get hit, not being able to get hooked or downed, at the end of the day there is a clear distinction between abusing a bug and using a killer playstyle.
-
@Annso_x said:
You can play however you want and are free to like whatever playstyle, just don't expect people to be happy about being stuck in a 3gen game because you have no malicious intent.
It's like "toxic" swf, most of the time they have no malicious intent and are just having fun with their friends, but it doesn't mean the killers facing their anti-hook builds are going to enjoy it.
That's why I usually say we shouldn't take things personally, most people aren't trying to actively ruin your fun, they're just not taking it into consideration (which is fine).
I 100% agree, of course it's silly to expect people to be happy about facing certain thing's, but I think waging war against one another is even more sillier. So I think you're right!

The thread I was replying on was merged into this one by a mod, and the OP was asking if a third party program was being used. That was the context of my reply. They're not using a program.
I know, i was helping support you, sorry if it came off arrogant or questioning lol

@Nazzzak said:
They're exploiting a bug, it's not a cheat program
You are quite literally by definition cheating, it's not intended to never get hit/downed. By using this bug you're gaining an unfair advantage and you're literally able to hold the game hostage if other survivor's do this. By all accounts, it's cheating.

Nobody should be banned for devs mistakes. They are playing the game as installed. If anyone gets banned over this it'll be ridiculous when the devs can kill switch flashlights in a hour.
It's not up to the player base to not use glitches because you can't fix your game. The Fast vaults where technically a glitch, is everyone that did a mega fast vault before patch gonna be banned?
Is everyone playing xeno right now gonna be banned because cooldown glitch?
I disagree, at the end of the day if you're intentionally using an exploit to gain an unfair advantage (even being able to hold the game hostage) then should be be 100% punished and treated as a cheater. It's unfair and ruins everyone's fun.

I understand where you're coming from, but I can't help but think the twitch streamers that show it off are way worse. Literally yesterday I had a streamer showing it off on stream. It's pretty unfun at this point
-
The locker exploit has become so out of controll, it's in quite literally everyone of my killer game's. Unless I'm playing pyramid head or artist, then there's nothing I can actually do. Is there any plans for this to be fixed anytime soon? Playing killer is just boring with the amount of people who exploit this bug.
Edit: For the people defending this exploit, I suggest you rethink your position and stop abusing this bug yourselves lol

It's really a shame too, I do hope something happens to them soon.

This is an awful post on the forums, that says alot
-
It's a few thing's for me, map rng plays an enormous part. There are so many instances of absurdly strong connecting tiles, cold wind (fractured cowshed) is the perfect example. You can play the tile perfectly but it doesn't matter because they have an equally strong if not a little stronger tile to run too. And I have to say when you're faced with terrible map rng it feels even worse knowing it's out of your control. Especially when you're not playing as nurse or blight where they can shut down loops very easily, it becomes just frustrating. No matter how many safe pallets you break it doesn't matter because there can be an equally strong pallet they can safely reach. So my biggest issue is map rng.

You're not wrong. I was a bit tilted writing this.
Something I want to make clear: I wasn't saying her mobility is better than Nurse's. I was trying to say Spirit has better add-ons that improve her mobility compared to what I was currently running. Better mobility than a ranged Nurse? I was tilted, not stupid lol.
Oh we can agree all day about her add ons being dumb, mother daughter ring is ridiculous and a good spirit will won the majority of her matches with it. On that we can definitely agree, sorry if I misunderstood some point you where trying to put across, I understand the tilt can get to us all ^^
-
With all due respect this is seemingly more of a rant on spirit, so let's break this down.
- Yes spirit has strong add ons that need nerfs
- Spirit has alot more counterplay than nurse due to the fact that you can literally hear her exact position (at least i don't find it hard to pin point her) whereas nurse is just run, break line of sight and hope she isn't amazing at blinks.
- Awakened awareness and starstruck is much much stronger on nurse due to the fact that she teleports through walls with her power, nurse literally breaks the core of dead by daylight. So having her attacks count as special attacks makes alot more sense than it does for spirit. She can't phase through walls or go to the 2nd floor in a second like the nurse can.
- Making spirits normal attacks count as special wouldn't make sense whatsoever, as of right now spirit is in a really good position as she is arguably the 4th best killer without add ons, you can even make the argument she is the 3rd best with certain add ons. It would be a hugely unnecessary nerf to spirit.
- I honestly can't agree with spirit having more map mobility than the nurse when she even has range add ons and she can travel to an entirely different floor in just a second. She can literally catch a survivor after hitting them in seconds, at least the spirit has a cool down on her power whereas nurse with a single blink is alot more lethal.
- So to your main point, starstruck. I think as a perk its fine, im not sure how they would nerf it or if it even needs a nerf. I barley encounter the perk, in my games at least.
Overall I wish to be respectful of your points, but I entityly disagree. It seemed more of a rant towards spirit using starstruck and she is stronger using it than nurse essentially. I think its very untrue, if I'm on midwich and see a survivor above me I can't just phase on their position in an instant, I can't phase through walls in an instant.

Dude, if you want a skin, just buy it now. If you don't want it, don't buy it and do not care about them being "exclusives" or seasonal.
"What is going on with these players... I don't get it."
That's a terrible mindset to have, forcing people to buy it by having it limited time is FOMO at it's finest
-
Because people like over powered killers, im more than happy with the current spirit. Even her yellow add ons are very strong, activation and speed isn't something to scoff at. When you're faster than the survivor and you're at loops, it doesn't matter if they hear you as more than likely you're going to catch the survivor. It of course depends on the playstyle but most survivor's tend to walk when she phases, you adapt to a survivor's playstyle and there is very little they can do. The fact people aren't playing spirit shows a lack of basic knowledge to how strong she is. A good spirit player doesn't even need iri add ons, yellow add ons are great for good team's but running something like mother daughter ring truly shows how she destroys even the strongest team's.
The nerf imo changed the best things, the stand still mind game was dumb and her having 0 counterplay other than guessing was stupid. Right now not only is she the 3rd best killer in the game, but she actually has counter play. Sorry I rambled on but people sleep for some reason on spirit and it's weird to me.
-
So what you're trying to tell me is a huntress using aura reading perks is more problematic than a nurse with 4 slow downs?
I'm sorry but I'm so happy the majority of people have 0 power over this games balance changes.
-
What do you expect? She is a zoning killer with cross snipe potential. Holding w destroys her, so unless you're against a god tier artist you're not going to struggle all that much

One thing that really helped me after rough matches while learning: don't focus too hard on the match as a whole. It's natural to be angry or stew over it, but pick out one or two things that went wrong and try to correct those for next game. You aren't going to go from average to top tier in a single game, but you can do that 1% at a time.
Really good advice <3

@Lobos said:
Beautiful moment, thanks for sharing it! The tribalistic nature of this game sometimes leads to unwarranted aggression and anger at the opposing side. Most players just want to have a fun, competitive experience when they are trying their best.
Unfortunately the players that are lacking empathy, respect, and good sportsmanship tend to ruin the fun for other players in their goal to win. Learning to win and to lose with grace is a difficult but rewarding journey.
Definitely agree there, I'll definitely do my best to improve with that as time goes by :)

@HugTheHag said:
I'd say the silent majority of players you'll meet in game are actually quite nice, and even the most frustrating game can sometimes end up with soothing endgame chat/messages. It's all a matter of leaving your salt behind you. :)
I've been destroyed many times by teams that were honestly much better than me, and who instead of gloating or being condescending genuinely offered advices or highlighted what I did good in these games, wishing me luck in the next, these kind of things. I've met several friends that way as well. <3
Or games where I gave everything I got, got a 4k, and still had survivors staying to chat a bit and compliment me !
It's easy to feel cornered as the 1 in a 4 vs 1, and killer is so high paced you don't get any down time to chill. But most people don't have mean intentions. As you said, it's more than okay being a bit shaken up and angry, but you should never carry that frustration into the next match as it won't serve you or anyone else well. :)
Couldn't have said it better myself <3

I came back to dbd after a break and I've noticed teams are stacking 3/4 medkits very often, not sure if its just because of the event or if its an established meta now. Does this happen often in your games as well?
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/OGPVZ4E06GFX/20221017215803-1.jpg
I would say more than normal, definitely more 3 man med kits than 4, but I've been seeing them alot more than I would like too. I'm a firm believer in bringing whatever you want, but facing the same thing almost every single game is extremely tough. Especially for playing low tier killer's like ghost face, medi kits seriously hurt his playstyle, at least for me.

Change my mind
100% disagree, there isn't anything wrong with gen regression perks, for set up killers like the trapper gen regression is a must. Corrupt intervention is almost a necessity, if you don't have it then you loose gens just by doing your job as a trapping killer. Not to even discuss killer's with no anti loop, you haven't considered the roaster that needs gen regression. Try playing ghost face against a team that pre drops, then tell me regression isn't needed.

If it did happen, it'd be Slappy.
Of course, it won't happen, because Goosebumps is a horror franchise, and Dead by Daylight isn't interested in those. In order to get licensed for DBD, it needs to be an anime, a crossover with a more popular non-horror video game, a sci-fi Netflix series, or a Resident Evil character.
Huh, really? I had no idea they weren't interested in horror franchises. Sort of interesting to me that they aren't tbh lol

Absolutely would love these two character's, a space ship map would be cool to see as well. Hopefully this chapter comes to dbd, that would be amazing.

Childs play, I can really see why people like chucky I really do, that being said I have some serious issues with him. At least imo.

Hai, killer main here. In my books I typically consider a win to be 3k or more, 2k for a draw and a loss would be 1k or less. But, I do think getting 8 hooks is commendable, but I don't think it's a win. At least this is my opinion.

Well, then you will be ok if those numbers were reversed. 39% killrate and 61% escape rate. Those numbers would be across all ranks, so they would be good numbers.
Oh wait, actually we had similar numbers after DBD was released and killers were complaining every day and were even doing several strikes for days, refusing to play DBD. But if Devs brings that balance back, I'm fine with it I guess.
If the devs said they where okay with these numbers then so be it, what good is complaining?
-
People forget that these numbers are accumulated from all the player base of the game. It's not just high mmr or low, the kill and escape rates are brought from the entire player base. So taking that into consideration, I think you can see that its actually good numbers.
-
Just lock the one, at loops when he holds his power to anti loop, just run forward. The best two counters to dredge.

It's a good question, most of the time's it can be hard to tell exactly how the survivor's are bming one another, it could just be swf teasing each other. But if I somehow realise that the survivor is just throwing the game by dropping pallets for no reason, vaulting back ams forth, not giving chase, I usually let the survivor's win tbh
-
I would actually argue that new dh is stronger than the old one.
-
I'm sorry, but nerfing swf isn't ever going to be the answer. People immed assume swfs are going to be sweaty, top mmr players. Most people just want to chill with friend's, even if they aren't good at the game. I agree solo needs some information, but giving a handicap to a swf isn't the way to go. (Im a killer main btw)
