  • "The devs are lazy, do not care for their community / only care for their money."

This attitude is just plain stupid.

As a professional developer I can't feed my family with 'care for the community' why the hell do you think they're working 10+ hours a day coding? It's for money. Bottom line.

  • I just use them for getting rid of irritating survivors so they're fine for me.

  • @MythMage said:

-How does every survivor know how to repair a generator? If the Entity just took average people from across the world, maybe 1 or 2 of them would know how to repair a generator.

-How does every survivor know how to heal injuries? Basically the same thing as the generator issue.

-Why do you need to be taught how to pick up a piece of wood? (Any Means Necessary)

-Why do you need to be taught to sabotage a hook when you immediately have that same knowledge whenever you pick up a random toolbox

-Coming off the hook healthy with Adrenaline. Yes, let me just HOLD MY ADRENAL GLANDS

-How are Lightborn and Shadowborn taught to other Killers? They are literally traits you are born with, hence the word "born" in the names. How do you teach that?

-"I could heal you faster, but you're the only one injured, so I can take my time" (Desperate Measures)

-How the hell does Head On work? Are you ramming into the Killer with your body, or are you using the force of the lockers opening to stun them? If it's the former, why don't you do this constantly? If it's the latter, then why do you become exhausted from it?

-"Oh #########! Someone is injured! Guess I gotta spend more time touching this Dull Totem for no reason when I could just kick the damn thing" (totems and Thanataphobia)

-How are you taught how to open lockers quickly? (Iron Maiden)

-"Ooh! A sharp piece of wood! This will be useful!" 60 seconds later "Eh, I don't need this anymore. The one weapon I have in this god-forsaken place? Nah. It's useless" (Decisive Strike)

-With how much you bleed while injured, you'd think survivors would bleed out, no?

-Bubba can only hold his chainsaw for so long, otherwise he gets pissed off for no reason, but Huntress's arm doesn't get tired from holding a hatchet above her head for 9 years?

-Stabbing a survivor while in Feral Frenzy applies Deep Wounds and injures them, but stabbing them again doesn't make them bleed out more? "Nah fam, I've reached my maximum bleeding capacity"

-Ghost Face stalks survivors while in Night Shroud, but being looked at takes him out. OK, whatever, maybe you can explain it away as the survivors being unaware. Sure. But why the hell can't Ghost Face look at survivors when not in Night Shroud? Myers can stalk in someone's face, but look at Ghost Face for 2 seconds and all of a sudden he can't look at people? He can't lean from a corner unless they aren't looking? What is this #########?

-"Don't worry. My blade gets sharper the more I look at you" (Myers)

-"My blade gets sharper the more I look at you as well, but only on you. For anyone else, the blade is still the same sharpness."

-Imagine if the current pandemic could be solved by drinking some water from some hocus pocus religious fountain (Plague)

-If you swing out of a Rush, you don't inject yourself with drugs, but if you smack someone, or run into a wall and wait a second, you take your drugs. Why? What does the serum do, and why do you only take it at selective moments? (Blight)

-Memento Mori means "Remember Death" in Latin. "Ah yes, let me just burn a Latin phrase for the Entity. Yeah, let me just jot that down and go get the fire!"

-If the Entity wants survivors sacrificed to it, and it also has the power to block windows, pallets, generators, and exit gates, essentially at will, why doesn't it just block it all?

-If all events in the game take place within the realm of the Entity, why is it allowing survivors an escape option?

-Why does Huntress kick pallets when she has a perfectly good axe in her hand?

-Dwight Fairfield looks like he never ran a day in his life, yet he can keep up with Meg Thomas, who was (correct me if I'm wrong, I didn't read Meg's archives) an Olympic runner?

-You are literally being stabbed with a razor sharp harpoon going at f-ing 100 mph. How do you only get injured when the chain (not the hook, THE MOTHER F-KING CHAIN) breaks or if you get smacked by Caleb's bayonet? (Deathslinger)

-The Entity decided to make lockers completely insulated so that survivors aren't affected by The Doctor's Shock Therapy or The Clown's Afterpiece Tonic. How the hell are they able to breathe then?

-So, if Freddy Krueger has complete control over the Dream World, and the Entity allows Freddy to keep those powers, how much power does he have in a Trial realistically and why can't he manipulate the environment like in a dream?

Also how the hell are you surviving at all from being put on a hook? Even if it's not through your heart it's a half dollar sized hole through your back straight through to the front.

  • Because flashlight suck.

  • Generally nothing.

At the end of the match it's inevitably the rank 1's, 2's and 3's that are the jerks and the rank 20's that do all the camping. Might be confirmation bias but seems like that is how it goes most often. Flashlight clickers and teabaggers are almost always < 5

  • ok so for the old people playing what's a boop?

  • OH That's what the survivor was talking about earlier.

  • Ah gotcha. Thanks!

  • Keys are useless already if they nerf them they'd be less than useless.

Make them open up chests or something yeesh.

As a survivor, the thing I hate most is when I get rescued almost instantly after being hooked.

No you're not cute or skilled, the killer plays in first person with a limited FOV, anybody can lodge their head up his ass while he's carrying someone.

You're wasting time that could've been spent repairing, you're putting me in serious danger and wasting Kindred (which I always have as a solo) and you're making bad plays imo so when push comes to shove, if I survive your horrible rescue attempt... I'm letting him take your ass and earning my sweet escape BP. Not even sorry.

Let me sit on the hook a little in the first phase, I'M LITERALLY ASKING FOR IT!

Killer main and I FREAKING hate that crap.

and then the little bastards complain about camping. I'm not camping I didn't make it two steps from the hook before you rescued you shitbag.

  • I'm sorry you suck so bad.

    Wait no I'm not.

    No running in the hallways.

  • I don't mind decisive strike.

If you use it on me you're damn right I'm going to tunnel, hook and mori you though.

  • I think it'd be cool for the track by scent stuff to actually be useful. Like maybe you can smell survivors within 5/10/15 meters and see their auras or farther if they're bleeding. be a good one for the Demogorgon or the Huntress. Not sure how it would work though.

A theory is not me "assuming", it's a theory. The rest of your comment is super weird and seems more focused on trying to figure out why I think the way I do rather than discussing the theory. That's not how you have a reasonable discussion!

You did say one thing that discussed the theory which was "The fact that there is information of people entering a fog and reports of missing people indicates that the Entity realm is real" No, according to this theory, that's just the Entity imagining their backgrounds. There is no "outside world", everything you see in-game DBD is merely a dream. What you said doesn't disprove the theory. Maybe the theory isn't falsifiable though, I can't think of how it could be?

Another thing for this theory; There can multiple clone Survivors in the same trial. What's with that? It's almost like they aren't individuals, and merely just another representation of an imagined character the Entity dreams up. I see no other way to explain that (lorewise, gameplay wise it's easy to explain that but we're not talking about gameplay) so I think that further supports this theory. Really, if they're souls are dragged into the trial, how can there be more than one of them? Is the duplicate a creation of the entity modeled after the real thing? If they are, who is to say they aren't all duplicates (Like the Temple of Purgation, built from parts of Adiris' memory, it's clearly not the real thing, just a representation of it. The characters may not be the real thing either)

hypothesis is the word you're looking for.

  • <<insert random thing here>> ruined the game.

  • I had a match in the psych hospital where the clown was on patrol and I kept sneaking out of a locker to try to fix the last gen. He would come by and stomp it with a hex and then I'd sneak back out and try to fix it and fail the skill check. It went on for a while that way until I went to find another generator.

wasn't doing it to annoy the killer. I was still trying to escape. I just couldn't seem to make any head way. The other survivor just hit though. Ended up just running to the killer and letting him slug me because after a half hour I was bored off my ass.

  • No waste all the pallets. Freddy loves you for it and will let you live. I promise!

  • @T0xicTyler said:

When I go against a farming killer it's usually annoying. Unless there's multiple stacks of bloodpoint offerings it's basically pointless and a waste of time (especially with these crazy queues) for a negligible amount of points.

That said, if you're gonna be a farming killer PLEASE don't instadown the person off the hook to get your second hook. Give the rescuer a second to get their safe unhook. Thanks <3

No. Nothing to do with farming. If you're there you're fair game. Wait till the killer is gone or bait them away.

  • Seems to me that if any part of you is hittable at the edge of the escape then you should be pick-upable. Easy fix.

  • Freddy spends his time staring lovingly at Robert Engund's picture.

  • I seem to remember reading something in the lore about there's a place where 'broken' survivors go when they're not capable of producing the desired tasty emotions anymore. I wonder if the Evil Sky Crab tosses killers there too.

  • It's in through time though? Or has the entity just been around a really long time? Maybe it's some sort of timeless critter like the Prophets from Deep Space 9.

What I mean is... if the Entity is chilling out in our time and goes "Hey there's a Plague lady back in 1800 bce (or whatever) that'd make a cool pawn.. lemme snag it."

or did the Entity exist back in 1800 bce and snag her then and she's just been trapped all this time.

or is the Entity outside of time like.... some Lovecraftian nightmare that exists separately from what we perceive as linear time and just snags people whenever or wherever they are.

  • not gonna happen. There's a big ol fight about the copyright. There was a previous game that's a lot like this one wherein the copyright holder didn't really want the game made and ended up suing. As much as it'd be cool for us I'm sure the devs don't want that hassle.

  • are you talking about writing a short story? or are you talking about in game or something?

  • Lag got ya.

I've downed survivors only to have them suddenly be 15 feet from me immediately after. It happens.

Or, here's a tip: Stop being so sensitive to pixels going up and down. Like, good god. Someone T-Bags and you camp them to death? That's just childish imo. Grow a pair and stop being so triggered over something that has zero impact on a game.

here's a tip stop telling people how to feel about #########.

  • I did that once before I realized exactly what it did. Having to start over on that character really irked me so I won't be doing it again.

  • Maybe a non-match screen that tells you if people are complaining or complimenting you.

  • eh I don't mind DS even as a killer main. Seems to me that survivors would wanna fight back. If I was in that position I'm going down swinging too.

  • Literally just the last match I played. I like Freddy always have. Before this game was even a twinkle in some dev's eye.

I had some people who made some really odd decisions that got them hooked early on. But eventually they evened out and started to recover. One guy's shirtless toon had some sort of toolbelt that looked cool. Early in the game he started doing the clicky flashlight bullshit that I freaking hate. I blatantly ignored him and went after someone else.

So he actually STOPPED doing it. Once he stopped I chased him around too. It surprised me so much I had to write about it. I ended up with a 4k. Afterwards I actually thanked him for not being obnoxious with the flashlight. We chatted a bit and had a pleasant experience.

Sounds like a typical swf experience, really. You just have to beat them at their own game. 3 flashlights? Franklins. Dancing around u? Start sluggin'. Bring sloppy.

You say you paid to play the game, but that's part of the problem. So did they. A % of this community basically lives to deliver the experience you just got, to as many unfortunate souls as their gaming hours will allow.

Just gotta try and make chicken salad out of chicken #########.

pretty much what I was asking for. The recipe to make chicken salad.

  • @TheButcher said:

Killer's should just be able to surrender without a penalty. It's more stressful to play Killer, and from my experience when Killer's are dcing, the survivors deserve it.

    I don't really think that's a solution.

  • @PanicSquid said:

If they're blinding you, look up or look down.

I personally bring Franklin's Demise to deal with Flashlight teams.

Yeah that's pretty much what I'd been doing. I'll look into Franklin's Demise though. Combined with Lightborn it sounds like it might be a good combo.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/206665/dealing-with-douchbaggery

It 100% sounds like you're taking it personally.

People click flashlights and teabag to get a response from the killer. No one can control how you react to these things except for you. If you personally feel like there is no way for you to counter people with flashlights, why do you let it bother you? I genuinely think you should play another game if this is such a problem, and I'm not trying to be nasty here. If the game isn't fun, don't play

I had to deal with bullies a lot when I was a kid. You know how I dealt with them? I beat the ######### out of them. In this game I have to tolerate it which pisses me off to no end. So yes I take it personally when someone takes it upon themselves to ruin my game. I am asking for constructive ways to deal with said bullies in a way that does not involve me quitting playing the game, which I otherwise have fun with. Your response is the exact opposite of what I asked for so your opinion has been disregarded.

  • yeah just what we need more racist 15 year olds talking ######### before every match.

  • Funny thing is the Doc is one of my favorite killers and I do pretty well with him. You're damn right I'm going to shock the ######### out of you. But if you listen to the audio cues he gives off you'll rarely if ever get hit and unless the shock blast mods are put in, the shock is a cone out in front of him. Just run sideways to avoid.

  • Because how else are you supposed to get better? Sometimes the Jets have to play the Eagles

  • ? not sure I understand what the problem is here.

  • I play Freddy, he's one of my favorite killers. I generally do Dream Pallets because the snares seem useless to me. I also find it soothing when smug ass players drop a pallet on you only to find it explode into blood and your knives in their chest. Yeah he can teleport but it takes several seconds for him to appear... so when blood starts shooting out of the generator... run... how hard is that? I do pretty well as Freddy but i'm a mid grade player at best so I win some and I lose some.

I could suggest one thing though.

Maybe when you're in the 'real world' make it so Freddy can't actually hurt you. Maybe he can only hurt you while you're asleep. But make it so that if you're doing a generator or something while you're awake he can damage the generator. Leave in the micro-sleep thing and maybe put something on the map to delay micro-sleep a bit.

i wouldn't say that Freddy is too powerful, but maybe a few tweaks could make him a little more fun to play.

  • It's been my experience thus far that red rank types, be they players or killers tend to be the players that are most abusive and dickish in behavior. Easily 7 out of 10 times, if someone did something ######### it's a red rank. The exception generally being camping which seems to be low ranks that think this is a valid tactic.

  • I dunno seems to me if you're not having fun playing in a particular round you should have a way to get out. Hookicide does that just as disconning does and getting dead on the hook does cause things like loss of pips and points so if they're going to jump out of the pool in either case they're still being penalized for it.

  • I don't thing Claudette should be nerfed. If half the game population wants to run around wearing florescent green hair and reflective team uniforms that's their business. Survivors and Killer stealth are both part of the game. If you were in this situation and had any brains the first thing you'd do is ditch your glittery ball gown and roll in the mud.

    Suck it up.

  • it's not a cutscene.. run sideways and put stuff between you and the Deathslinger. You can break the chain pretty easily. Even if it's another player you have between you and the Slinger.

  • Does anyone actually get banned?

  • great just what I need... more toxic boneheads cussing at me.

  • I second Pinhead. I was just thinking about that tonight oddly enough.

Satan - that's a jump the shark moment there Fonzie.

Jason - I don't think they can do him because of copyrights. The Friday the 13th game did just go belly up though.

Instead of Cerberus how about Cujo? - problem with Dogs though would be how the hell they gonna hook you? Which means the need for an entirely different sacrifice mechanic.

Stranger Things: how come 11 isn't a playable character?

Here's one though: how about The Thing

power: mimic other survivors, mimic generators

    Babadook

    power: teleporting, claws,

    Scarecrow - (not from batman)

    power: ranged weapon, sickle

    Otis Firefly/Baby Firefly/Captain Spalding

power: call on the dark powers, knives

    The Tall Man

    power: ranged attack - spheres

    Carrie White

    power: fire traps, ranged fire

    The nun

  • good gods no. This would become annoying as all hell in about 1.2 seconds.
