Yes, but people will still be complaining even if you give something fair or reasonable
I dont think so. Look at noed. It used to be the most complained perk, and now it is barely a topic anymore.

People will complain anyway until the perk is completely and utterly gutted that's just facts
My suggestion would not gut this perk by any means. Less frustrating for killer and survivor.

I think survivor gameplay has become extremely tedious outside of chase. Everything takes so long. I know it doesn't necessarily feel that way on killer, but counting blades of grass gets pretty boring after a 90 second gen gets hit with Pain Res, then Grim Embrace. There's no pace or momentum to the survivor role anymore. Every game feels like you're spinning your wheels on generators, especially if you have Archive throwers on your team (please delete Archive challenges or make them part of natural gameplay).
The game should be speeding up, but it's slowing down instead. It's infecting every developer in recent years. Everything is a tedious slog. Games shouldn't be going longer than 10 minutes. 7-10 minutes should be a viable win length for both roles. Get away from these 15 minute slogs. The risk is incrementally slowing the game down until you reach VHS pacing, and nobody really liked that game.
Thats why i think they need to add more resources for survivor and in exchange a second object.

My take on killers:
Ideal Killer:
- Bubba: Always fun unless proxycamping. But these days, good bubbas go for the Hunt. And they know how to handle loops effectivly.
- Hillbilly: He is a bit overtuned but still awesome. Exciting chases, many chases, skill expression on both sides. What more can i ask for?
- Blight: Same as billy.
- Demogorgon: Good chase power, but can also teleport around the map so he is constantly a threat.
- Wesker: Same as Billy. So much fun in chase and dont forget the music!
- Oni: What a great killer. Standard looping followed by his insane power. Both phases are good, because getting hit in early is no option so you have to play carefully but without mindless waisting resources - and in late... well he is a constant threat without being totally unfair.
- Huntress: Arguably THE most terrifying killer in the game, at least for me. Against top level Huntress, you are never safe, but they still have fair counterplay. Thank god they reverted the movement speed buff.
Stinkers:
- Dull Merchant: N/C
- Knight: Guard left, Killer right. win
- Artist: Bird left, Killer right. win
- Twins: Slug slug slug
- Trickster: Dumb gameplay
The rest of the killer roster is between fine and bad, but not outstandingly great or terrible.

You make it sound as if they only ever listen to killer players. A brief look at DbD's history shows that to very much not be true. I agree that solo survivor is often a pretty miserable experience unless you have some good team mates that don't suck and run around like headless chickens. But other than, the game is in a pretty good state balance wise. Not optimal, sure, but much better than in the past and there can always be some improvement. A game like DbD will likely never be perfectly balanced. There were years when the balance was atrocious and we're thankfully long past that.
I will make a fact check about that soon since im curous who really got more changes over the years.
-
While they can be an indicator, surveys dont always tell the full story and can often times be missleading the devs to horrible decisions.
For example, many survivors are currently very upset about the overall ballance and that is from my pov understandable. But when we look at the Bloodpoint incentives, it is pretty equal and from my research even a little bit in killers favour (slightly more BP for playing killer). This could mean, survivors are happy enough to continue playing the game / not playing killer.
Another one is that many killer complaining a lot how unfair most of the maps are. We can see this in the "Mapping the Realm" section. But when we look at it from objective and statistic standpoint, most maps are actually in the killers favour.
-
HAHAHA🤣
I tried this recently about 20 times in a row and it ended ALWAYS exactly like this. I was close to get insane and those who followed the attempt fia Live had a fun time :D I even had a few standoffs that took half an hour.
My mistake, i should have done it in like 2017 where people have not been aware of this.
PS. i did not got the achieve. Next time maybe?

Just let go of the gen before the hook or before GE activates and you won't have to deal with DMS. Plus Pain Res and GE can only be triggered 4 times by hooking 4 different survivors. It's really not that hard to deal with.
They can only trigger 4 times? Only? I wish i had your lobbies where apparently loosing minutes of progress is not hard to deal with.
-
Grim Embrace is without a doubt the strongest Killer perk at the moment. I run it on almost every killer at this point. Combine it with DMS, PR, Corrupt, Pop, UW or any Aura reading perks, and its close to impossible to loose.
It is pretty interesting that it is only used by like 10%. I wonder why.
Here is a nice example on how easy it is to destroy survivors with perks like these.
-
Was actually recently practicing against this killer with comp players and all agree that there is little real counterplay against her in chase, besides the actual unique pathing. Regardless of that, a good Artist will know how to deal with this, will force survivor sooner or later (rather sooner) in a loose loose situation and gets the hit. There are so many issues with this killer but the main ones are her addons Thick Tar and Baby Shoes for obvious reasons and that animations cancel repelling the crows.
We wont see much complain, since she is a very rare killer to find. Still, the issues are there but for now, i believe she is low priority.
-
Thats really hard, because every year had some postive and some negative. I mainly focus on the killers, since survivors are only perks and maps actually had its peak in the first years.
Year 1: No idea, i have not been around.
Year 2: Actually great, good killers, great licenses.
Year 3: Would be the Goat, but old Legion ruins it for me. Not even Ash can change that.
Year 4: Also amazing, but old Deathslinger with quickscope was such a joke.
Year 5: Silent Hill and Blight were awesome chapters overall. Twins and Trickster not so much.
Year 6: Overall pretty meh. Pinhead and especially Artist big stinkers.
Year 7: Wesker is amazing and the only reason its not the by far worst year. We dont need to talk about SM and Knight.
Year 8: Meh. Alien is annoying, even to this date. Chucky cool license, braindead killer. The rest was decent.

My point exactly, why is there so many perks on both sides that incentivize not tunneling. Tunneling is my God given birth right. When will there be perks that promotes and rewards tunneling to balance things out?
"My god given birth right is to tunnel." What a statement.
My god given birth right is to tell you off and do everything in my power to stop you from ruining the game of others. We will double our effort, thanks for the motivation boost.

@concubined said:
DS does not need a buff, it shouldn’t be a sure 100% guaranteed escape from a tunnel like it used to be. With its current version, strategic approaches is required to get value, like the location of your down and pick up, is it somewhere you can keep prolonging your next down after you proc DS? Taking your killer to a safe zone where after you DS stun them you can make it to a safe/god pallet. It shouldn’t be a free get out of jail ticket specially when Off the Record is already a thing, basekit BT along with its haste (a pain for 110% killers), Anti face camping ect… survivors have been spoon fed one too many times to deserve DS back to or close to its former glory, which was obviously problematic without say. Making it such a threat where killers are scared to pick survivors up again, counting the 60 seconds like before (which I still see people do) is just silly and makes killers look weak.
I would like to compare DS to Eruption, but my point has been made and you’re free to stop reading here. When Eruption was nerfed into the ground, completely changing it’s purpose which was to apply the very rare incapacitation effect that now is only applicable by Victor, killers have accepted the perk is rendered useless and moved on. Now imagine the last DS nerf changed the perk in a fashion similarly to Eruption, “60 seconds after you’re unhooked, if the killer picks you up hit this skill check and now your teammates can see the killer’s aura as they’re carrying you to the hook.” … that’ll be understandably a complete joke right?
I understand this post has no persuasion to the Devs decision, the buff is inevitably coming. I’m using discussions more as a way to get people talking and to express my thoughts and prayers. Good day.
DS does not need a buff,
Okay, i am all ears.
it shouldn’t be a sure 100% guaranteed escape from a tunnel
And i am out.
In all seriousness, DS is a complicated perk which has more a bandaid effect then most other perks because of problematic game design. The three must unfun strategies, slugging, camping and especially tunneling have not been adressed that much (besides camping to some degree) so Unbreakable, DS and Reassurance will always be disliked by killers. Their effect is not really super powerful, because it is completly avoidable by the killer.
Defending those strategies is like defending bad game design. I can not imagine someone actually "like" tunneling, as a killer of course. But some killer think it is the only way to have success in their games.
We / They should rather find solutions for overall better game design so those 3 strategies dont have to much power, and spreading hooks, which is clearly the most fun wayto play the game for both sides is the best and most successful way to play DBD.

Like I said in my post last week, 12/20 games had someone suicide(only one DC). Out of those 12 games only 2 we were losing in and in exactly 0 of those games were the 2 randoms being tunneled/camped or slugged ever. If any of those things did happen it was rare and happened to me or friend. 6 of those games we won and I have to reemphasize nothing even close to annoying happened to these players. We saved, did gens and healed.
I cannot handle playing if my own team is going to sabotage me every other game.
Edit: when I said we won I mean a two man escape at least between us two and the other random. I know that's not really a win but in this context I consider it to be.
Both NA?

We can only speak for ourselves but atleast for the past 3 weeks (we're guessing roughly 45ish games primarily survivor) 40ish percent has been a game where 1 will try to swing off hook and give up, but we've had 2 DC in that timeframe (of which one was us due to internet dying).
We're of the opinion that they're not as common as we keep hearing, but that's us.

To be fair, this clip isn't exactly proof of anything.
Doctor, Artist, Huntress, even Freddy could have gotten that hit simply by using their power. This only caused a certain outrage, if I may put it that way, because the Skull Merchant's hate train hasn't dissipated yet.
This Meg attempted to loop an extremely unsafe pallet and she got hit as a result. This is natural, it is part of the game.
Its not about the actual hit, but how punishing it is that the killer pressed one button.
The Huntress has to aim, the Doctor has to time his shocks and Freddy... well lets be real, our Man himself does not get anything. His snares are so weak, the survivor would have gotton away, so.. no hit immidiately.
Nobody is saying killer should not have a strong power, and hits come with that power. But what kind of power is that please that it can hit a survivor just by sitting there? The trapper at least has to set those up and those can be disarmed. And no, disarming drones is not the same as disarming Traps since they dont have Iri Stone basekit.
Damn, i just realised DEVS might read this and instead of changing SM, they give Trapper Iri basekit. Good job myself.

Survivors are a team only when it comes to gens and preventing their teammate from getting tunneled apparently. When it comes to win rates or kill rates apparently it’s a 1v1v1v1v1, not a 1v4 🙃, because clearly you don’t need the help of your three other teammates to escape, right?
Maybe i am missing the mark here.
Killer is a 4v1. What matters is his outcome for him. In our example, Slinger has equal win/loss rate - with 50% killrate. He wins half of his games and looses half of his games. We can see this in the graphic. Draws are not relevant since it is neither a win or a loss.
And then on the other hand is an equal outcome for the survivors. On average, every individual survivor escapes half of the games.
So saying that 50% killrate is not fair for the killer is wrong. The win/loss ratio is perfectly ballanced, same for survivor.
-
@Feneroe said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3671545#Comment_3671545
Yes, because it's an individual win rate and not a team win rate. Aiming for an individual win rate of 50% for each member of the side with four people will end up with a sub-30% win rate for the side with only one.
So far nobody was able to explain me this. May you please?
50% killrate means for the survivors (individually), they win one game and they loose one game (on average). Correct?
Deathslinger here, wins roughly about 40% and looses about 40% - the rest of the games are draws. Those he does not win neither he does not loose. Correct?

Background player is one of the few Survivor perks right now i think is unhealthy for the game. It makes pallet safes way to easy.

It's really funny how restrictive this Perk is:
- Be on last hook stage
- Be healthy
- Requires an Exhaustion Perk
- Temporarily injures you on use
It's kinda sad.
BHVR is super scared of releasing good survivor perks. Weaving Spider is a great example. It could have a good effect, but the condition is so over the top, nobody will successfully use that one.
-
A few hours ago i had 2 back to back games against one the best Huntress players and i was wondering what devs are thinking buffing this killer.
I am wondering if BHVR added the movement speed buff on the PRT on purpose so they can justiy the other 2 buffs. "Dear survivors, be happy its only the other 2 unnecessary buffs"

No, what you are saying isn't wrong. What you were responding to (Raconteurminator's post) is wrong.

Okay, but what @xEa is responding to is just flat wrong. Nightlight being inaccurate makes zero difference.
Whats wrong about it? Its a fact that NL is close to reality stats, but a few percentages lower on killrates. When NL has 55% killrate on average it is usually between 58 and 60.
-
@Raconteurminator said:

So you have no numbers, then, outside of a third-party app that varies, sometimes wildly, in accuracy.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3669636#Comment_3669636
There are four people on the Survivor side, each worth 25%. In no single match can a Killer achieve a 60% kill rate; it's either 50% or 75%. A 60% kill rate means that the average kills, over multiple matches, will be 2, with the occasional 3 or higher. A 50% kill rate, on average, will produce less than 2 kills. 60% is balanced in this context. So again, in this context, you have no understanding of balance.
Why would 50% killrate less then 2k on average? You just explained "average" and then the next sentence, 2k is not average? I am confused.
Slinger has almost exactly 50% on NL. Look, its all there, we dont even need to calculate to see that 50% is 2K average.

I just don't understand how people enjoy facing Skull Merchant when stuff like this happens so often. They got outplayed at the most unsafe loop on RPD and got rewarded for it??? Yes, the survivor could've crouched, but they would have got M1'd anyways since you need to compensate for server lag and crouch for longer than necessary due to it. Can you even argue that it's avoidable?
Killer mains will tell you to crouch.

Us vs. them... nice. I play killer more than survivor and want a balanced game.
The game is balanced around a 60% kill rate according to the devs. This is not something your local "killa main - monsters" decided.
I for my part, have to say that DBD pre 6.1.0 felt horrible. The worst was the period with hit validation on DH - dash. It literally made killer players quit or move over to survivor period.
Im glad this changed for the better.
Sorry but i can not resist myself and repeat this once again:
Because BHVR wants 60% does not mean anything. Its actually a good indicator that it is a very bad idea.
BHVR proofed 3 things in the past. That they are able to get amazing licenses, that their sound design is god tier and that the ballancing department is run by one summer intern.

When I play killer and get looped for 3 to 4 gens, but play survivor and teammates go down within 10 seconds of a chase? What I'm I doing wrong?
The only reason why this could be the case is bad matchmaking.
Personal experience:
It is not uncommon that i have teammates who are on a high skillelvel and have 7.000+ hours, and even tho we are winning, the round, i get next match survivors with less then 1.000 hours while the killer is a P100 Nurse (actually happend!)
Same goes for killer. Most of the time i destroy survivors with 2-3 gens up, and then, once every blue moon, a team with combined 30.000 hours rolles in. And the very next match... i am not exaggerating, survivors with combined 2000 hours.
The heck?

Yeah, i know difference. Even if he is my second most unlover killer to go against, i have no issue to make him slightly stronger. He is barely low A tier now imo. And please don't pretend he will S tier with this change, not even close.
At least they should revert his TR back to 24. Prerun against 4,4 killer with 32 meters is crazy strong, i don't see a point in it.
Barely low A tier you say? Why would that be a reason to buff him? A tier is candidate for nerf.
(I dont think Slinger is A tier, rather B, but the point stands) -
Why are people even saying "but Nurse..." as if ANY 4.4 killer needs to be 4.6.
Lets rather discuss if Blight should be 4.4 or 4.6 instead.

This is my whole point, gamers who refuse to improve but will instead blame game mechanics, mmr etc. At no point did I point my finger at so called noobs but instead players that should know better and need to be better.
Okay, but why survivor? Both sides are complaining about this and that, but survivor should get better? And because they get better, killer can then ask for more survivor nerfs?

Statistically, going by Nightlight, it's not 'balanced'. I'm pretty sure they said they were aiming for 60% because it feels right for the horror theme.

Problem is this is an asym. Survivors not knowing what they're doing are probably still gonna die to killers who only know M1 and possibly their ranged attack unless DBD is their first video game ever.
I still think information for newer players needs to be addressed better because I know for sure I'd have been lost for a long time if I was just stuck with their tutorials.
Better ingame tutorial is one thing, telling one side the issue is lack of skill is another.
