It's either I can escape without being hit onceI still do gens and stuff or I get downed because of one simple thing. Constantly using his chainsaw yes I get it's his power and yes I get you basically get easy downs because of it. But three matches in a row I had to face Hillbilly. First match took twenty years to finish because me and another survivor just waited for eachother to die since two gens left that were close together. Second match I never got hit I was in chases and did gens but constant chainsaw use ended up with him constant hitting walls and rocks. Third match I just shut my brain off near the end because I was tired of hearing the constant chainsaw revving and overdrive activating. So overall Hillbilly is boring to face because there isn't any suspense I know he's going to use his chainsaw the entire match.
Brutha, hillbilly now imo is on the more fun side to play against. You should look up 2017 hillbilly and how 18/20 matches you played were against hillbilly. Hillbilly is a very skillful killer to master and mastering going against him can be even more satisfying. I can see how it would be hard to like playing against him when you haven't really seen him much until recently (he was an inexistent killer for like 3-4 years), but after having my fair share of billy matches throughout my dbd play time I think right now is his best and most fun state.

Im curious to how people think of each killer, and if i just have wild hottakes or smt.
The Trapper - I dont rlly like going against him as hes just a boring M1, and the trappers I get always camp.
The Wraith - I love the Wraith! I used to main him so I know how to go against him rlly well and I like, mindread them when I go against them.
The Hillbilly - SO FUN I LOVE HIM! Hes super easy for me to go against bc most hillbillys go for chainsaws when the shouldnt and Ive done some GOOFY stuff against Hillbillys. Also, they are always super kind. ILY hillybilly mains <3
The Nurse - Good nurses can be fun for me, but I kinda always die bc Im not that good. Baby nurses tho are amazing and I love them.
The Shape - I'd be completely fine with them, BUT MY TEAMMATES ALWAYS GIVE HIM T3 IMMEDIATLEY!!!
The Hag - The few hags Ive had have been so fun! Ive never once had a camping hag, just ones that use traps rlly well in chase and those hags are super fun.
The Doctor - I dont like him. I hate prethrowing pallets and I think his power is just overall boring. I remember my first doctor match and it was so intense and scary, but now hes just boring.
The Huntress - I like them! My ONLY issue with them is sometimes the hitboxes are wild af.
The Cannibal - I <3 Bubba
The Nightmare - Boring to go against, but Ive had some good matches against them. I love playing as him bc he has alot of stragety and involved gaming so I just find him fun :)
The Pig - I like them! I love SAW so im super biased, but usually they let me boop and I like the headttraps.
The Clown - ONE OF MY LEAST FAVORITES! HES SO BORING!!! He just spams the bottles and theres no (fun) counterplay!
The Spirit - Nerds, and just an unfun killer.
The Leigon - Depends on the player, I like leigons that use their ability, and pallet stunning them in frenzy is soooo satisfiying. But, the Leigons that JUST M1 and dont frenzy are so boring :c
The Plague - I love playing as them as vommiting is so funny, and I like dodging the vomit too, but I just dont find them that fun.
The Ghost Face - I like jumpscare Ghosties, but most of my ghosties just camp and dont even stalk.
The Demogorgon - I LOVE THEM SM I GOT MORI'D BY ONE THE OTHER DAY AND I WAS SO HAPPY. HES FUN TO LOOP AND SO ADORABLE!!!
The Oni - I like him, I just wish my teammates would heal me! Hes fun to loop when hes angy tho.
The Deathslinger -REALLY FUN I love dodging his bullets bc i so good at it, but the usualy play anoyyingly (hard 3 genning, hard camping, etc).
The Executioner - I like when they spam their long range (?) attack bc iits so satisfiying to dodge, but they are usually nerds and camp cages.
The Blight - Hes fun, its just when I get hit the hitboxes are WEIRD.
The Twins - I love crushing victors skull <3
The Trickster - So unfun omfg. His chase is the worst in the whole game, at least with clown or doctor theres some remotley fun counterplay, but for him he just spams and theres nothing I can do (I also only get him on coldwind wich SUCKS)
The Nemesis - Fun to loop, sometimes tentacles shoundlt hit but whatever. My only issue is the zombies, they feel unnecesary and ISTG they used to not be that anoyying but now tey jsut are so anoyying.
The Cenobite - I like his power and I love the movie hes from sm but pinheads are so nerdy.
The Artist - Kinda boring, I hate exit gating against her bc they just spam crows (which is fair, its just not fun).
The Onryo - Kinda boring, but a joy to see.
The Dredge - My main I love him so much and hes SO overrated! He also has the best outfits out of all killers bc the Maurice skin and the doll skin are so good. Going against him tho, I pee myself and despite him being my main, I shutdown and die.
The Mastermind - I still love him no matter how many times I get him. Fun chase power is the key to my heart.
The Knight - I hate people who play him, they always tunnel so hard and I wish the little gaurds where changed somehow, they just arent super fun.
The Skull Merchant - Why behavior...
The Singularity - I love him, hes rarer now despite being the newest release, but I get happy when I get him. His cameras are unique, just too easy to get rid of.
Anyways those are my thoughts, share yours too <3
Skullmurchant is simply the best killer in the game by far. In terms of getting kills and ranking up

I'm a billy main myself and the good old days of billy meta was fun. I remember when I played against him 18/20 matches (2017), insta saw billys, silent chainsaw, ultra curve billies, imo it was very fun and I wouldn't mind the addons back ether, but i think his addons now are fine. I do believe tho billy shouldn't be as punished for cancelling a chainsaw rush.

Mutated shark with legs. There power is that the shark is the hook itself. When you put someone in the dieing state you eat them and put them in the hook stage. Survivors have to shoot you with a water javelin thing to unhook (make the shark regurgitate) you

Idk, considering the fact most "meta" consists of something that tend to be a tools to deal with elite/veteran survivors, I doubt it.
@Aven_Fallen said:
It would certainly be Meta, but also a bad idea.
Old Ruin was a really badly designed Perk. As already written, it punishes newer Survivors way more than experienced Survivors. Furthermore, it was pure RNG. Someone can get a Gajillion Skill Checks or none for a complete Gen.
And last but not least - it was effortless Slowdown. The Killer had to do nothing to get value from it, unlike reworked Ruin where the Killer had to force people off Gens to get value.
And IMO this version of Ruin was fine. It was only a problem when paired with Undying (1 Ruin is fine, up to 5 Ruins is not fine) and/or Tinkerer (because this removed the effort-part of the Killer, especially when it was a high-mobility Killer). And I think when they nerfed Tinkerer to once per Gen, Ruin was fine.
And IF they wanted to nerf Ruin, just disabling it when a Survivor is dead would have been alright as a Nerf. This almost never happens anyway and if it happens, the Killer will probably not need Ruin.
But the very old Ruin - nah, should never return, however, it would be Meta. (And Killers would complain about the Instructions-Add On...)
Interesting take. I find the ideas of old mechanics such as old ruin being introduced to modern Dead by daylight an interesting topic I find is enjoyable to talk about, thanks for the responses.

Why, i only said it's a hassle to get there for EVERY hook. It's fine when survivor aren't careful and end up there.
I was also one of the people that suggested for the killer to have their spawn fix down their for atmosphere and to get rid of survivor spawning in visual range of the killer.
That's actually a really good idea, damn we should get killer spawn down there. Haha you're bringing back my memories of when you used to spawn in the killers terror radius and sometimes literally right next to the killer. Good times.

I have never used any gen perks except for maybe pop.
Only staple perk was bbq for the additional objective plus more BP and the rest was mostly passiv enhancements like iron maiden for faster locker or bamboozle for faster vaults or the aforementioned Lightborn when I saw some beamers in Lobby until it also became a permanent companion so i can go off screen during lobby.

How were you able to get through your matches in 2017 without ruin

@Nos37 said:
Old Ruin's gen regression from missing Greats was not changed because of its values. It was changed because it heavily punished newer players who struggled with skillchecks and console players cannot land greats as easily as PC can.
Yet, they kept the skill check in Decisive Strike?? Newer players needed the anti-tunnel the most, but are the most likely group of players to miss its skill check requirement.
This is why there should of been a separate server dedicated to noobies and not a bootleg mmr/ranking system

@HoodedWildKard said:
Title says it all really, players are by far the biggest problem. Given the basic mechanics of the game it's possible for both sides to abuse mechanics to make life miserable for the other. Killers can camp tunnel and 3 gen to force wins or use cheap perks like NOED for easy kills. Survs if they have a team of strong players can make life absolutely miserable for most killers.
And people perpetuate it. A killer gets a team of clicky, teabaggy sweats, gets a frustrating 0/1k game, takes it out on the next weakish surv team they come across, hits on hook, nods as they die, the survs then teabag in gate at the next time they manage to survive a game. And round and round. Idk what the purpose of this rant is but maybe next time you dominate a game as killer then let one surv go, or next time you see a killer off in exit gate, drop them a present instead of clicking and bagging.
Everyone goes through a toxic stage of dbd. I made this account in 2018 when I was going through that stage. Eventually you mature and it gets tiring to be toxic every match. Ive never sent hate messages but I have done in game toxic stuff, but like I said it's gets tiring and you grow out of it past a certain point of playing dbd

The only purpose it has nowadays is for killers to just camp. Considering BHVR wants to "do" something about camping why don't they remove the whole basement aspect?
Basement is an iconic factor since the start of dbd. If basements gone, dbd is gone, if dbd is gone, life is gone, if life is gone, earth is gone, if earth is gone, all we would have left is Fortnite players in a different dimension.

Tinkerer works for every gen. Machine Learning works once per match.
Don't get me wrong, the effect is good but the fact that it only works once and then deactivates is a huge downside. Unlike Lethal Pursuer it has no further effect and it isn't as valuable (at least for me) to get a considerable easier hit one time. Because it won't do much more than that.
Well cause usually in ptb they are crazy and they have to be nerfed for full release then it seems like people have overreacted but really it was just nerfed for full release. (Amazing in PTB, balanced in full release)

@Orthane said:
I either get completely stomped and barely have 2-3 hooks by the time they get 5 gens done, or I completely stomp them and they only finish 2. There is almost never an inbetween. Having an actual good game is super rare. I've had a few where I didn't have to tunnel and still got 2-3 kills and those feel good. But having to hard facecamp and/or Tunnel because I have 2 hooks and they're on last gen, and they spread them out so I can't 3 gen is so unfun. I hate tunneling but I HAVE to do it in most games or I won't even get 1 kill. Gens pop so extremely fast that every regression perk is completely unviable and useless. 125% of normal Regression whoopy doo that means it'll take survivors 22 seconds instead of 20 seconds to repair 1 whole minute of regression! The only useful one is Jolt, and that's just because on pretty much every M1 killer there's no better options.
Idk what it is about the games I've been having lately but it truly feels like tunneling is a requirement if I want to get even just 2 kills most of the time. With how fast gens fly by when 2 people have boxes, Prove Thyself, and maybe a few other tools for gen speed, and God forbid one of them has a BNP. Which means you are forced to take someone out of the game as quickly as possible or before you know it all gens will be done. And if you injured everyone too bad, because Adrenaline is picked by over 25% of all Survivors, and if that pops not only can you not catch them, but they've also healed instantly. Incredible.
I've started playing Survivor with a No Mither build and even when I'm basically exposed all the time I have so much more fun than as Killer. When I'm playing Killer it's a constant battle with frustration while I desperately try to get 1-2 kills and getting annoyed when 2 gens pop in a minute when I'm on first chase. But with Survivor, I can genuinely just have fun. Maybe I'm just bad at Killer, but playing Killer is just so demoralizing in so many games.
If you only get 2-3 hooks you're probably just bad (no offense). Don't hate tunneling, use those 2-3 hooks on one person then with a 3v1 you got the game in the bag even with only 1 or no gens left. Some games ur gonna generally get stomped but it shouldn't happen every match. Just try every killer and make sure you have a full build on them. Add-ons help tremendously, but more so the add-ons that don't make you change your playstile but instead just help out bake kit

-"The devs literally increased the time to do the main objective of the game. I understood the complaining before the change to gen times, but now?"
You want to hear something crazy? Gens were slower when survivors played against me before 6.1 than they are right now. You might ask how.
Before Pop got obliterated it gave a 20 second reset on generators every time I got a hook. Looking at 95% of my games if not more I got somewhere between 6-9 pops per game. In other words I changed the survivor objective from 4 minutes to 6 minutes. Why does that matter?
Good survivors can finish all the gens in under 4 minutes (the very best can do it in under 3 minutes). This really didn't change with the last year of patches but my ability to slow down generators did. Largely speaking it takes about 6 minutes for the killer to get enough hooks to win. If the game is over in 4 minutes then I have lost; I need another 2 minutes of time to achieve my win condition.
In case you haven't been here for six years the main gripe of killers during the entire lifetime of this game is : generators are completed too quickly.
The expected goal of the killer is 9 hooks. This is the "grading" system the game uses for emblems.
Don't you think that's a little too exaggerated? Like yeah when you dive deep into it that's what you're gonna get but ur acting like the only thing a survivor does in match is do gens and the only thing a killer does is chase and hook. Time is money In dbd, every second counts and that's obvious, so there are other mechanics like people going out of there way to do archives, using perks, playing a specific style on purpose etc, all this adds time.
I like your perspective, but it's a little over the top on my opinion.
Edit: if every single survivor was a SWF organized sweat squad your point would get across to me much easier, but that's just not the case. In the end it really just evolves around the play style of the survivors you face and sometimes you have to adapt mid game to combat it. Some matches ur gonna get gen rushed no matter how you adapt, and some days you will obliterate the gen rush. There's not much else too it.

I play roughly 100-120 matches as survivor per day. Usually I get about 20-25 friendly ghostfaces or someone else doing a challenge or daily who wont chase, attack, or do anything except their minor task. Then I also get roughly 30-35 AFK Pinheads and a few random other killers who get passive bloodpoints from their kit that just swing their weapon and turn in a circle. The y always have Beast of Prey, Distressing, and Lightborn. Sometime Corrupt Int or Thrill of the Hunt.
I bought this game to play it. The fact that 50% or MORE of the matches I queue into are these types of matches is outright unacceptable. Can we please make this type of thing a first offense permaban to any account who does this. Also can we revoke the rights to the content the account purchased as well so they cant just game share or account hop without having to purchase all content over again on a new account?
If this sounds extreme to anyone then maybe we can just remove rift challenges and daily tasks? Also remove the bloodweb and bloodpoint system so that playing the regular game would be just like customs? If players dont have selfish incentives it would really make the quality of life on this game much better.
120 matches per day that's hard to believe. An average match is 15 min so that means 120 matches is about 30 hours worth of gameplay and obv a day is 24 hours so even if you played 100 matches that means you be on dbs for 24/7. That's impressive bro. 15x120=1800/60=30 hours. Quick maths

Maybe because ALL of the gen regression perk being nerfed and most of them are being killed?
you could get 40%(25%+15%) regression per hook before by just bring 2 perks, and now you have to pick 4 slow down perks and still weaker than that.
Yet survivor perks have also been murdered? For example dead hard, coh and some more non recent changes (like ds change awhile ago). It all balances each other out. Its not like the devs are only focused on nurfing killer perks or only nurfing survivor perks.. the are murdering all of them.

Because bad Killer players will always be bad. You can make Gens last 3 minutes each and there would be still some who would not manage to 4K every game.
They dont look for excuses in their own gameplay, it is the games fault that they lost. I mean, have you ever seen that Killer Mains say that 4K-Streaks are the sign that the game is imbalanced? Nope. But if they get a 0K in one game, THEN the game is suddenely unplayable for Killer.
Yeah I agree buts it's the same side for survivor aswell when it comes to excuses and bias. I personally think the game is very balanced right now. Unfortunately a lot of this forum is just bias towards one side or the other and it's effecting the future of this game.

This isn't tied to some specific balance changes or licenses, just my saddened ramblings.
I've been having a weird feeling while playing DBD the past few weeks and a little after the anniversary broadcast I think I figured out what it was. It doesn't really feel like this is the game I wanted to play anymore? I got that weird and frankly,off-putting new UI that apparently some people have and don't last patch (which I saw like NOBODY talk about?) and I just was "is this still DBD?". I still know my way around it and everything,it just feels different. Have I just played too long (almost a thousand hours now) and I'm getting burnt out? I've seen a lot of similar opinions pop up lately on social media that I haven't seen since the time I started playing in 2021..
The balance is apparently better according to all the CCs,but the game feels only more frustrating and less fun to me.
Is this a widespread thing at all?
I also feel the exact same way but a lot of it is from nostalgia. You remember playing dbd in 2017-18 or even 19 and you compare how amazing it was till today. You feel like the game has rightfully so modernized but along with that many aesthetics old dbd had have now been taken away and the game dosnt feel the same. The old animations, sound effects, UI, graphics, gameplay, vacuum pallets, old perks, old killers (og billy), etc, all these things are very nostalgic for old/OG dbd players and we wish we had this old dbd back no matter how flawed it used to be.
I always recall myself to how I played dbd every single day during summer break in 2018, I legit put 900 hours into the game in a single summer and it was the best part of my life tbh (ik pretty sad) and I remember waiting 10 min to get into matches, the introduction of the store and auric cells, how clown took 20 million years to be released on console how I watched "how to 360" videos, and ended up 360ing a spirit 25 times in a row when she first came out all the little things have a mas amount of nostalgia on me and when I look at dbd now, it's just not the same, stilly favorite most amazing game to exist, but not the same. Even if you didn't play during the times I mentioned you are probably feeling nostalgia for when you played the game in 2020 or whenever you played because the game has changed so much.
It's partly from burn out, but you're mostly experiencing these feelings mentally through nostalgia, happens to many of us we just don't understand how to explain it. The only time I've ever felt nostalgia or the feeling your feeling is from DBD and after watching Attack On Titan, it's a depressing but good feeling yk, like I said it's hard to explain. Anyway I hope I helped clear stuff up a bit bud.

People who say awful things in post-game chat and commit literal crimes (DDOSing and DOXing) over petty things in the video game.
I know some people will say "just turn off your account comments on Steam and avoid post-game chat" but this extends beyond just the post-game chat. Ive had people go out of their way to find my social media pages to harass me there as well, or use alternative accounts to see when Im on DBD (on Steam) and DDOS me as soon as they notice I am playing. Literal cyber-stalking.
The worst part is, is that they use alternate accounts with this stuff, I cant even tell who it is that is doing this specifically, and reporting does nothing because they return with another account in a few days. It's gotten to the point to where I am considering on quitting the game entirely if it means I do not have the deal with this anymore.
It's gotten to the point to where I have no idea what to do.
Why and how r people getting ur social media. If it's just people cyber harassing because they salty and going to extreme lengths to do so, I wouldn't find that as a big deal. I personally would just keep blocking and ignoring. I get salt messages but not to your extreme. What r u doing to make people hate you bro?😭 If ur face camping or tunneling every match I think your solution is to not do that lmao

I'm not going to sit here and claim that dead hard isn't a strong perk, because it is. I think that's only part of the reason why it's run so frequently though. The fact of the matter is that it's the exhaustion perk with the most interactability and highest skill ceiling. Every other exhaustion perk in the game, save SB, is activated under very specific circumstances. And SB isn't exactly a perk that has any sort of learning curve to it.
If we want to see a drop in dead hard usage, I think we need to see another new exhaustion perk. Even if dead hard were to be nerfed again, it would still be the most used exhaustion perk because it's simply the most fun one in the game. What we need is a perk with a similar amount of flexibility, interactivity and skill ceiling comparable to that of dead hard to ever really see a drop in dead hard use. We have 7 exhaustion perks that boil down to "X thing happens, you get speed boost". We need more perks that do something unique.
TLDR; The way to see dead hard less is for the devs to make new exhaustion perks that are as fun to use as dead hard, something that's not just "do x to get speed boost"
New perk: Try Hard- brings back old dh into the game

- the unhooked survivor does not have hit detection and gets the base guardian speed boost (better than base borrowed time being used to weaponize the unhook and tank a killer hit)
- if the same survivor is hooked again before another survivor is hooked then on the 2nd unhook give them a base overcome speed boost along with no hit detection.
- after the 1st hook and 2nd hook, the unhooked survivor gets original decisive strike (5 second stun) both times (ds would only stay active for 30 seconds after the unhook)
- ds and hit detection are voided during endgame collapse to avoid easy escapes/ copious actions disable both as well
- bhvr takes the information and buffs low tier killers
It's not that simple dawg. If it was the devs would of done something like that. There's much more to just coding rules into a game. Ur proposals are very cool and good ideas but they would break and unbalance so many other mechanics of the game

Nah he's making a valid point. Wraith did that to me aswell, never seen that in my years of playing against or as wraith. It was insane. He uncloaked and swung but then swung again. It was like he swung while cloaked. It was so weired
