  • What am I talkin to myself in here!!!?!?!

Look at what you guy's are doing to poor Olive!

    PXL_20230827_175338511.jpg

She's melting into a void puddle carrying this thread all month!

  • Congratulations for your successfully revolution around The Sun. May you have many more.

  • Silly people think that. Silly people who can be safely ignored because they are so silly.

They are two VERY different games but even if they were exact carbon copies of each other, there is plenty of room for multiple games of this type. Madden has virtually imploded itself because they just kept squirting out the same dumpster fire of a game over and over again cause they had no reason to try to get better.

You should of course be able to turn voice chat off- but the option should be there and you should be willing to accept that you are putting yourself at a disadvantage if you don’t use it.

It should be accepted that voice chat gives an advantage (no-one disputes this right?) and the developers should balance around communication IMO.

I would be accepting that I am putting myself at a disadvantage...

Which is why I'd more likely quit the game outright than I would accept voice chat

  • I do not want voice chat in the game and there is at least a decent chance that I will stop playing if voice chat is in this game

As stated concisely by lidokain above, they are two different games. Weirdly enough, DBD has a lot more teamwork that is required for you to get your objective done where TCM, you could have a group of sentient potatoes as your teammates and you can still escape, which is why I'm more fine with ignoring VC in TCM than I would be in DBD.

In DBD, VC would become the expectation if it was added. If it's the expectation, BHVR would start to balance around everyone having VC and so you'd be at a big disadvantage if you chose not to use it. I suppose it's not impossible that BHVR would choose to continue to balance like nobody could talk but that seems very unlikely as teams that talk would instantly have a huge advantage and would start stomping killers.

  • There are (to my knowledge and I follow a few DBD Code accounts) no active BP/Shard codes available right now

There are always some of the ones that are always active for charms (like Puppers above or the LGBT flags) but nothing for any currency

  • I watched South Park all the time as a wee lad

I was 11 years old when South Park debuted so that was smack in the middle of pre-teen/teenager Tippy times

  • The only thing that will ever kill DBD is DBD

There is also plenty of room for multiple asymmetrical multiplayer horror games in the world. Especially given that DBD and TCM are two very different games. Their only real similarity is that they're both asymmetrical multiplayer horror games but even if they were carbon copies of one another, there is still PLENTY of room in the gaming space for both to exist.

  • Today is the 2nd Year Anniversary of getting Holly

So here is a picture of her trying (and failing) to not be cute

  • If I had to pick a favorite food...

It kind of depends on what I'm in the mood for so I'll do a few of my Top Picks. The nice thing is that for the most part, they're all really easy to make!

BBQ Ribs (specifically Baby Back Ribs). But if you're making them, you gotta do it right so either make them in a slow cooker or a sous vide before putting them in the oven. I've found there is no quick way to make Baby Backs that make them good.

Chicken Parmesan. Another one that is super nice cause it's so easy. Bread a chicken breast, throw some noodles and sauce on them and Chickie Parmie is now yours!

Lasagna (specifically Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, and Ricotta Cheese with Ricotta being the most important part). Also relatively easy to make but kind of a pain in the butt but a good old fashioned lasagna with ricotta cheese is the best. Some say you can use cottage cheese but those people are wrong :D

  • This isn't exactly cute and cuddly but this thread needs a new post!

Tippy's Boomerfication is coming along nicely. Got a new feeder setup and have added some flowers to the mix

  • PUPPERS!!!!!!!!!

  • My assumption is that a heavy topic like mental health is not really something the forum mods really want to have to patrol/deal with. As nice as it would be, a video game forum doesn't feel like a great place for a topic like that.

  • One of these days people will realize that you're allowed to play more than one game at a time

  • It's amazing how many just insanely good cosmetics (and Moris!) that the mobile game gets that the main game doesn't just steal

I know they're two seperate companies but you'd think BHVR would have some kind of "YOINK!" clause where they can use the mobile games cosmetic designs and whatnot...

  • I like doing the dailies cause it makes whatever I'm doing at that time a little bit random

It would be nice to have more dailies (or maybe have them refresh or something when you've completed them) just because I like to let "fate" decide what killer or survivor I'm going to play as sometimes and dailies are a great way to do that

  • I don't PC Game so maybe I'm confused as to what Family Share actually is but...

Like...if I buy a Blu-Ray, do I expect everyone in my house to also purchase that Blu-Ray so that they can watch it? Or if I have Netflix, does everyone in my house have to buy Netflix too to watch it? Or if I buy a PPV fight, does everyone have to pay to watch?

If the family share thing is different households, then maybe there would be a good reason to call it entitled to still share but if you're in the same house (or it sounds like even on the same computer if what I'm reading is accurate), there doesn't seem to be any reason to not let this happen.

Though from everything I've also read, this is 100% on Steam and 0% on BHVR so complaining here won't do anyone any good.

  • I bought the rift once when I started playing in 2020 and have gotten it "free" ever since

I play often enough naturally that I've never had any need to grind to the finish line

  • I do not stress or have a bunch of mental anguish from playing this game (thanks Duloxetine!)

However, I WAS having a bunch of stress and mental anguish from playing this game previously and I can tell you why I kept playing back then even though I was quite literally hating myself for constantly playing the game when it made me so frustrated and angry that I literally went through dozens of keyboards due to this game (which that was its own problems that DBD was bringing out, not being caused by DBD that has thankfully been addressed):

DBD is a very unique experience that you really can't get from anywhere else and when the game is fun, it is SUPER FUN. For a multiplayer game, when it's firing on all cylinders with a team of four or when you take down a very good foursome, this I dare say can be one of the most fun games you can play. Which is all I would remember. I would throw my fit, break something, uninstall forever, and then come back. Sometimes it was the same day, sometimes I would be gone a week, but eventually my memory of the frustrating games would fade while the memories of those games when everything was super fun would brighten. Unfortunately there are not really any games that I feel play like this one so I inevitably would come crawling back.

I do feel like I'm probably a bit more extreme case (I'd always had a frustration/anger issue when it comes to competing and being in chronic pain for almost four years now had turned that into a damn hair trigger) but this game, for better or worse, can really sink claws into you and never let you go. It's one of the most unique multiplayers games out there.

  • People used to just hang on the hook instead of trying to get off. So wasted 1 minute of both players time.

At least that's been my assumption for why they pulled the chance to unhook if you were the only survivor left.

  • I 99 the gate but I also run Bond so I can see when someone is coming and might need a hot extract

  • PXL_20230807_135952285.jpg

Unable to quench their bloodthirst on humans by committing Federal crimes on us, the cats turn on each other

  • You know, now that I look closer...

    I see it now!

  • We all got together and decided that we weren't going to answer your questions

  • If they were perfectly fine with it, they wouldn't try things to fix it

Something obviously wasn't working with the basekit UB since they dumped it but I'm sure they'll keep trying to think of various ways to make it work without being exploitable by people

Every single Killer has a unique power, with varying degrees of complexity, so having extra killers in the roster from the CE inherently mixes up the game. All the killers I've tried have had their powers translated pretty well, and play quite differently.

    Also:

In basic mode every single killer/survivor has unique perks to them. So you get more variety in survivor perks and team compositions.

In advanced mode, all perks from all characters can be drafted, so you get more variety from the CE for both killer and survivor.

In expert mode you can all specifically craft your builds for both sides, so having the CE can be pretty nutty...

Good to know that it is actually worth the extra cash (assuming one can afford it...which I can't 😭)

Only Lunar New Year gives BP to everyone. Halloween was worse because it would only have 1 event gen and you had to use offerings to increase the gens, so not only could you miss out on BP from completing gens but you would waste offering too. They atleast changed Halloween event to make all gens event gens but BP is still only if on gen when finished. I've legit complained about this every event and every Lunar New Year say do BP like this for all events. 😂

Oh right! So at least I wasn't crazy, it did happen. It was just the lunar event, not the spooky time event

  • If the killer just got their ass handed to them during the game, I'll let them hook me. Many of them won't take the "pity hook" but I feel bad. As a killer, I've had those kind of games and they suck.

I'm on console so thankfully I don't have to deal with the EGC

  • I feel like they've done that before but for whatever reason reverted back to the player needing to finish the gen for it to "count".

No idea why it was changed (unless I just made it up, which is certainly possible but I swear the Halloween Event has it give it to you when gens were done period, not requiring you to do it).

  • Anyone who has the CE version, do the extra killers and whatnot change the game? I'd assume yes but that would really suck to feel "forced" to pay more than double for that to get the full game, especially since it seems like your only option is that (no like..."DLC" boardgame to add to the base edition).

  • I try to but as a killer, it can be really hard to tell if someone is trolling their teammates, their teammates are being useless (and so the "troller" is just trying to get something good out of the game), or various other things

If it's 100% obvious, I will kill the troll and let everyone else go but if it's questionable or unknown, I'll usually kill them all and let The Entity sort it out 😅

    Most of them.

My issue is the skill. If I'm too good, I start feeling bad.

If I'm too bad, I feel kinda useless.

But if we hit the sweet spot, almost any killer is enjoyable to play against.

This with the added caveat that they don't play like a jerk with the character (3 Gen Skull Merchant, Face Camp Bubba, etc). Anyone killer I think can be super fun to play against as long as the killer isn't being a jerk about it.

  • I suppose Bishop is a remote possibility as well, though I would think he'd work with the Xenomorph rather than doing gens to escape 😅

  • I can't imagine they would do that as The Predator would seem like a perfect creature for an actual killer but it would really really really really really really really suck if they did. I don't even think getting to look like The Predator would save The Skull Merchant from the icky pile...

Also, except for the people huffing copium and believing that The Skull Merchant was a failed Predator, they really would have no reason to use Predator as a skin for her.

  • Alien Power: Some kind of fast map traversal (IE Lockers like Dredge or creating "vents" like Demodogg). Also some kind of a stealth mechanic as well. Or maybe a combination of both where you can control a wicked fast Xenomorph, which puts you in stealth but you also can't see or hear survivors or something to make sure it's fair.

Personally while I don't think it'll happen, I kind of hope that you'll be able to control lil Facehuggers and have them hop around like Victor!

I'd also be willing to bet money one of the perks is going to be like..."Acid Blood" or something like that. Get bopped in the head with a pallet and the pallet will "dissolve" in....15 seconds or something. Something that isn't instant to give it a downside but the upside over other pallet breaking perks is that it works with all pallets instead of 1 in 4 like the Spirit's perk.

There is a killer only chapter but that is in november. The chapter for august includes a new survivor and map.

    https://twitter.com/DeadbyDaylight/status/1659651202202607626

So presumably it's gotta be Ripley and The Nostromo, right?

I suppose an outside chance of it being Corporal Hicks but besides Newt, I can't imagine there's any character in any of the Alien movies anyone would know by name (and presumably BHVR is not going to add a literal child to the game 😅).

  • It probably won't be this but I can't get out of my mind that you start off as a little facehugger and then pounce around shrieking like Victor before you "unlock" being a Xenomorph

  • I have no idea why you have a giant rant about Sadako in your thread about Chat for Solo Q but I do not want a chat function for solo Q.

Not having to talk to my teammates is a major reason why I gravitated to DBD over others. I have no desire to talk to my teammates while playing this game and if it were added, balancing would start to be done with communication in mind (so if I just "ignore it" as so many say, I become an active detriment to my team).

  • To me, a Big L License would have to be one of THE mainstays of horror. Someone/thing from horror that everyone would know.

So who would that be? Someone like Jason Voorhees is the only one that I think would truly fit the bill (that still isn't in the game like Freddy Krueger or Michael Myers). A killer that everyone would know, even if you are not a big horror fan. If it's not him, I suppose I'd put Dark Horse money on someone like Chucky or a Xenomorph (characters that most movie goers are going to know). Super Dark Horse money on someone like Pennywise or Candy Man (characters that horror movie fans are going to know).

I suppose there's an outside chance that their Big L is a gaming Big L rather than a horror villain icon but I just feel like their Big L is going to be a horror movie A Lister.

  • Bots are too strong. Nerf Pig plz

To give an actual answer, I've yet to actually play against a bot (or at least to play against one that wasn't just about to die). My survivors quitting are either suiciding on hook or they are quitting at the tail end when I'm about to death hook them

What kind of dork snitches on something like that?

But I guess rules are rules. BHVR should say "yeah, that was a silly rule and we're not enforcing that one" but ultimately it's their call
