    1. The majority of his spirit videos series has to do with information and lack of reactivity- not ruin, not prayer beads, and a few points on collision in his "theorycraft." Here is the first video. None of it has been addressed in her rework other than collision https://youtu.be/sZyG29POXJw

    2. You're countering your own point. Previously you said that Scott is so good that he can get 40 straight 4ks with speed limiter bubba, so that would make him unstoppable on spirit. Now you're blaming it on 40 straight games of potatoes. Near impossible statistically speaking.

    3. Theorycraft. It was a respomse for people who post these kind of tips:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1290656#Comment_1290656

    4. I've seen gm overwatch players destroy aimbot users. It's rare, but it can be done. This logic is not valid.

I can run a spirit. I cannot run a spirit with good headphones.

I know the spirit hate has gone under the radar for a while, mostly because there are fewer people picking her at just the thought of her rework. I highly suggest that you and @CLAUDETTEINABUSH reach out to @Scott@ScottJund and take him up on his offer for a kyf game against his spirit to showcase you consistent spirit countering, if his offer still stands.

I've seen what he wrote and his videos dude. I've commented under a lot of them.

"1. The majority of his spirit videos series has to do with information and lack of reactivity- not ruin, not prayer beads, and a few points on collision in his "theorycraft.""

I was saying the back and forth between him and True was theorycraft (more on True's side, Scott was just replying to that). I wasn't calling his entire argument theorycraft.

As far as "information and lack of reactivity" that's how a 50/50 works. It's a thing in other games you either need be good at reading your opponent (because no person can be completely randoms they will follow patterns), or you need to avoid putting yourself in those situations.

Additionally you don't need the information to avoid her you need to deny her the information she needs to find you. Breaking LOS of the husk, walking when appropriate, following unusual pathing. If you throw her off your trail and then bolt for the next loop you can keep the chase going for a long time. And that's the problem rather than try to actively deny her information people insist on needing information to counter play her.

"2. You're countering your own point. Previously you said that Scott is so good that he can get 40 straight 4ks with speed limiter bubba, so that would make him unstoppable on spirit. Now you're blaming it on 40 straight games of potatoes. Near impossible statistically speaking."

It's a bit of both though.

First he is such a strong player that it almost doesn't matter what he plays, he will win most of the time. Therefore him playing 2 hours of Spirit, against anyone, is going to result in that.

Second, you can see these survivors make massive mistakes. Often. I see it all the time myself. It's why the stand still trick even works because survivors do something stupid. Scott does it and always goes something like "LOL outplayed kappa" when it was actually just the survivor making a really dumb decision. We also don't know how much of them were solo or SWF as that can make a huge difference.

So when you combine these factors I doubt Scott would ever lose as Spirit with perks/add-ons. If he had a series of video of him playing against survivors that rarely make a mistake, as with survivors I've seen regularly on Xbox against Spirit then it would be a bit different and I'm sure he would have to actually try more to win.

"3. Theorycraft. It was a respomse for people who post these kind of tips:"

There's no theorycraft there. This is the stuff I've seen people do. Theory craft is like the back and forth between Scott and True where they are giving in depth examples of things that may or may not happen. My tips aren't that. "Use windows instead of pallets" isn't theory craft. Windows are better tools against the Spirit than pallets. I can't tell you how many times I catch survivors that try to camp or loop a pallet, but then struggle against survivors that know how to run from window to window. And I've used this tactic myself against Spirits and it works. It's not my theory crafting, it WORKS in practice, from both points of view in my experiences.

"4. I've seen gm overwatch players destroy aimbot users. It's rare, but it can be done. This logic is not valid."

By rare I mean that most survivors make stupid decisions. It's RARE to get a survivor that doesn't make stupid decision or use lame tricks to try and beat a Spirit. They use completely valid tactics that anyone can do but the problem is MOST survivors don't actually think about what they are doing. Whereas beating an aimbotter takes a significant amount of skill BEYOND what is normally necessary. They just think they should do some random whacky thing but then it fails, they get caught and call foul. Spirit only has a finite number of things she can do while phasing, if you know what that is and the pick a tactic that would counter all or most of that the best you can outplay her consistently. Yes, sometimes it's a 50/50 and you just have to pick one and cross your fingers but those actual instances are rare.

Like really, if you see a Spirit standing still do a fake like you are going to run in one direction, change directions and bolt to another tile. Chances are she will use 2-3 seconds of phase to track and lose you, then will only have 2-3 seconds to chase you to the next tile and unless she had MDR or Amulet she won't have enough to make it and you will gain distance on her. Yes that's a bit of theory craft but it's pretty consistent in practice so long as you have those options available. I'm being vague on purpose to avoid theory crafting. It's about baiting her and then finding an opportunity to just bolt to a new loop.

I just don't buy any of it. Sorry I don't. I've seen good Spirits get outplayed consistently by certain survivors. I've been seriously outplayed by some of those survivors. Like I said I don't consider myself a God tier killer but I'm not a bad killer either. I have Astro a50's and I can hear everything but when chase music is BLARING and there are other noises it's not all that hard to lose track of a slippery survivor.

Here you go. Unbiased spirit games played by Scott. In order. No cuts. Made for people like you. So if every game is against potatoes, it's because for 2hrs straight, there were only potatoes playing dbd.

Also, I think you can you would benefit from his counter to spirit counters video.

    https://youtu.be/6Lfi9mH05hE

His word isn't law. But as a content creator and experienced player, he is good at understanding the nuances of the games design and putting criticism in a clean understandable format.

    I've seen those.

The first video was from November, before Spirit got changed. She's arguably weaker now that she has no collision, Prayer Beads were nerfed, and Ruin was changed. So it's less valid now than when it was made.

And again, he has a video of him getting 40 4k's in a row with speed limiter Bubba. So yes it's entirely possible he got all potatoes in a 2 hour period because only potatoes would lose to a speed limiter Bubba. I've had streaks of just bad red rank survivors for the entire time I sat and played killer. Both these points pretty much invalidate the first video.

As for the second, he makes good points but it's all theoretical. Even on True's end and I don't agree with True on a lot either. He's not as good as explaining his points as Scott and some of the stuff he said I was like "uhhh what". Theorycraft isn't evidence either, for any side.

I've seen survivors outplay a Spirit consistently. Both as killer and survivor I've seen it. It can be done, so I just can't buy into this nerf Spirit hype. Yes, old Prayer Beads were dumb I always said they were. But she isn't as unbeatable as people say. She just isn't. I've seen people outplay good Spirits. It's rare, as most survivors go full potato against her, but it can be done.

Bias... Against only 1 killer... Not any other killers. I'd call that being critical of spirit's awful design, just like he was about og moon walking legion.

    Not bias.

Also I agree with you. She PRACTICALLY has no tells (shards, her only tell, are useless unless you close enough to be up her but) . And I don't think she should. The point of that comment, is to show people who are dismissing criticism because "just look at her you'll know when she phases" or "train you eyes". The myth debunking video by Scott shows just that: saying spirit gives phase information to survivors is false, unless you are close enough to be hit and if spirit is not running any skins.

The other hair and animation reset tells are not consistent so they are not tells if they only sometimes happen to correlate with phasing.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/WESM9DRZNPGM/ps-messages-20200520-234433-2.jpg

But what is the whole point of making survivors invisible, If you can pinpoint them with audio. Why pretend that phase is balanced by "unreliable scratch marks" when the audio cues can reliably get you a post-phase hit after a few games of getting used to it. At that point, don't even make the survivors invisible.

"The Spirit leaves the physical plane, losing sight of all Survivors. She can, however, still sense the scratch marks they leave in the environment."

She is also supposed to only sense the scratch marks left in the environment. She leaves the physical plane. Audio is part of the physical plane. If she is in a different plane where her eyes can not receive the light reflecting off of survivors, how are her ears catching vibrations in air molecules.

If you don't think spirit is audio cue dependent (aka buy good headphones), just play her with the volume down and see the difference in difficultty of landing the grudge post-phase hit.

It is pretty bias because he's already a strong player when he plays a strong killer of course he will dominate. He 4k like 40 games in a row as speed limiter Bubba, so when he plays a strong killer it's gonna seem like she's OP. I've also noticed that for all the games he's posted on his YT of him playing Spirit are against complete potatoes. They make stupid decision after stupid decision, which is actually a very normal thing against Spirit. So when he's a good killer that almost never gets a good survivor against his Spirit it will seem like she's OP. Ironically the only video he posted where he lost as Spirit was I think his very first one, he had no perks no add-ons and got completely dominated on Ward (which is IMO her worst map, especially before they changed the pallets in the main building). Which is understandable why he lost, I didn't expect him to win, but to have a video like that and still say she's OP. It just doesn't make sense to me. Even if he had perks I'm sure he would have struggled that game (though this was back during old Ruin times so it's anyone's guess).

Additionally, Deathslinger has very much a old Legiony feel to him in that once you get speared there is nothing you can do. Yet he doesn't mention anything about that. It's not nearly as bad as old Legion but it's pretty bad when you get hit no matter what you do.

The only consistent tell she has is shards which are already difficult to see.

All other animations or resets or hair flying are inconsistent and bugged.

The shards (the only consistent tell) are hidden in school skins. So not really consistent after all if you throw in some money.

Here is a good discussion about it by Scott jund.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/104811/finally-debunking-spirit-myths-shards-glowing-animation-resets-hair-etc

I don't agree with all of it. I don't think spirit needs to give more tells. I just think she needs to be scratch mark dependent instead of audio que dependent, that make her "mind games" and lack of information justifiable.

    1) She's not supposed to have any tell.

    DBD_20190905_Spirit_LoadScreenTip_StandStill.jpg

    2) I'd hardly call that a "good discussion". Scott has been heavily biased towards Spirit since she came out. He claims "just buy a good headset". Well to play Devil's Advocate, if you wanna be a good Huntress just put clear tape on your TV and draw a crosshair with a red sharpie. Use a mouse with good DPI. Literally all you need to have great aim with Huntress as her hatchet hitboxes are the size of trains. If he can make such a lame argument to claim Spirit is OP I can use equally lame arguments to say Huntress is OP. Sorry I don't buy it, not when I see survivors run from Spirit just fine. GOOD Spirits too.

I don't get why people quote Scott Jund and Tofu like their word is law. Just because you have 5k hours doesn't make you perfect at everything. Hell I know high level tournament players for certain games that suck at certain things. M2K of Smash Brothers fame is notoriously bad against low tiers or off meta characters/play styles because he is a very mathematical/formulaic type of player. When you throw him a curve ball he struggles to hit it. Yet he is still one of the best players IN THE WORLD in several Smash games. Just because these guys play a lot and are pretty good at the game doesn't mean they actually understand how to run from Spirit.

  • I agree.

The people saying "no counter play" just don't think when they get chased by a Spirit. You have to be creative and understand her power to beat her. I kill so many survivors with Spirit just because they make super potato moves that you would NEVER make against any other killer. It's like survivors' brains just leak out their ear when it's a Spirit.

Furthermore people like to say "just get a good headset". Well if you wanna be a good Huntress just put some clear tape on your TV and use a red sharpie to draw a crosshair. BOOM! Instantly a good Huntress. Not to mention the massive hatchet hitbox, and Iri Head. I could play Devil's Advocate and argue that Huntress doesn't really take all that much skill. Of course she DOES and I believe she does, but for all the "Spriit doesn't take skill/just get a headset" arguments I could make the SAME ARGUMENTS for Huntress or really any killer. Case and point, if you play with a mouse you should have near perfect aim. IDC what you say, a mouse makes aiming INSANELY easy. Again, I'm playing Devil's Advocate here.

I really can't wait for cross play to be a thing. I'm pretty positive that there are more good anti-Spirit players on Xbox then there are on PC because with Nurse and Huntress being WAY harder on console a lot of the top killers use Spirit instead. There was a period before her update that I swear every other game was a Spirit. Every time I watch a PC streamer or Youtuber they get the worst survivors as Spirit. The last 3 or so videos of one particular person who always says Spirit has no counters, he gets the absolute DUMBEST survivors man. Like I wish I could get survivors this dumb when I'm Spirit because when I play Spirit it feels like most survivors are literally sitting next to me watching what I'm doing. And I don't consider myself a God tier killer, but I've been playing rank 1 for a while and I'm pretty good, especially at Spirit who I consider my main. I doubt that I'm just "bad" at Spirit more that the survivors I get at rank 1 actually know what the ######### to do. So when cross play comes out all these people saying "Spirit easy just get a headset" on PC hopefully get demolished by these 4 stacks that all know how to run from a Spirit.

And here are some simple tips:

    • Iron Will
    • Spine Chill
    • Use windows instead of pallets.
    • Don't camp pallets, drop them early instead.
    • Back track once you break LOS of the husk.
    • Walk when you have enough distance and don't go the predictable path of to a pallet/window.
    • DON'T VAULT THE PALLET IF SHE IS STANDING STILL!
    • Running from tile to tile (similar to what you might do against Hag or Nurse) is better than trying to loop any particular tile.
    • If you are playing with friends, have them muddy your tracks or make noise to make it harder to track you while she phases.
    • If on a corn maps or any map with tall grass AVOID THAT ######### at all costs. Run between the rows, not across the rows.
    • Stop assuming she is unbeatable. She's not. Thinking that way you lost before you even tried. She can only do a finite number of things while phasing. Realize what they are and do what would counter all of them (and the stand still trick) the best. Usually you have at least 2 valid options to extend the chase. Some are safe some are risks. Be unpredictable and just ######### TRY!

Just because you have +5k hours doesn't mean you are good at running from Spirit. She takes a certain play style and skill set to beat, and it doesn't match with other killers.

Write your name on a piece of paper. Put it in an envelope. Write "To Joe" on the front. Then put it in a mailbox.

  • Step 1: Charge hatchet.

    Step 2: Pick husband.

    Step 3: Throw hatchet.

  • Technically you can get the same result with clear tape and a red sharpie. So no.

  • Iron Will 3 = -100% to cries of pain always.

No Mither 3 = -50% to cries of pain always.

Off The Record = -100% to cries of pain for 60/70/80 seconds after being unhooked.

Stridor 2/3 = +50% to cries of pain always.

At -100% you are silent. If you have Iron Will 3 but the killer has Stridor 2/3 it will be -50% (basically you have Iron Will 1). However if you run Iron Will 3 with No Mither 3 your cries of pain are -150%, which against Stridor 2/3 it will be -100%. So using those 2 perks completely negates Stridor. I can confirm this works from actual use of these perks in combination against killers with Stridor.

The problem is, Overcharge forces a skillcheck. And instead of letting Survivors pop it in a chase & fail, they decided ot upend all logic in how skillchecks work & allow Survivors to hit it while running.

So they took an event that would have favored Killers (popping a skillcheck in a chase), and decided 'No. This should be Survivor-favored, in opposition to how generators work every other time.' It's like they did not want Survivors to make a mis-play in a gen-tap, no matter what.

I mean it's not always the case that survivors tap the gen in a chase. Sometimes they just let go right away because the killer is near or decided to do something else the instant they touch the gen. While yes, it would punish survivors that gen tap in a chase it'd also punish survivors that just let go of the gen for any other myriad of reasons.

It's dumb when you get a skill check right when you let go of the gen. Gen tapping needs fixing and is a separate issue but Overcharge should definitely not auto-fail if the survivor let's go. Overcharge 3 skill check is not always easy to hit, especially against Doc or a killer with Unnerving. Plus being able to hit that skill check while ALSO running from the killer is insanely hard to do consistently. So any survivor that can do it should be rewarded.

  • This should actually be how all skill checks work. It's dumb to let go of a gen and get a skill check at the same time.

  • Well you should start running into them very soon. Most of them are at red ranks.

Play at nights or on a weekend for better chance.

  • ho boi....

If you are on PC (I'm assuming you are) just wait until crossplay comes around. You'll get all the lovely Xbox SWFs.

I wouldn't use Ruin because once you get 3 stacks on Devour the focus shifts from gens to totems. If you have Ruin instead of TOTH then you won't be able to protect your totems, and if we assume they got Haunted first (which is most likely) then you want TOTH to keep Devour up, and you want Retribution to punish them for getting the wrong totem. Of course you could do Ruin and TOTH but honestly Devour is a lot stronger and more of a threat. If they split the map Ruin won't help you to create pressure as they can in theory ignore totems and focus on gens. You want them to forgo gens for totems which Devour does.

Again, last info I could find:

"It isn't his lunge that is bigger. His body model is smaller. So essentially there is a gap in-front of Freddy before his lunge. So he always appears to be lunging shorter than he really is."

So either give me the ######### update where lunges changed or GTFO.

"Killers with a 4.4 m/s move speed (The Hag, The Huntress and The Spirit) now lunge at the same speed as other killers."

    https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Patch_Notes_2.2.X#Patch_2.2.0

Killer lunge range WAS dictated by movement speed. Spirit, Hag, and Huntress all had shorter lunges than 115 killers. In 2.2 they updated it so they all have the same lunge range.

Whether you want to believe it or not, all killers have the same lunge range. The only exception is EW1/EW3 Myers having a shorter/longer lunge range respectively, but that is a special property of EW and not tied to movement speed or anything.

Freddy's lunge appears longer because he is shorter than Billy or Clown. But it is in fact the same distance. Go ahead and ask a dev if you really don't believe it.

IF she stops. But a spirit doesnt stop unless she has spirit fury or if its a really strong pallet.

"She is a 110 killer you were talking about passive phase."

No, I was talking about both. Her passive phase is incredibly strong in looping, and if thats not helping her, she just phases because you cant see OR hear the difference, meaning she might be faking out a phase, might be she is looking at you for a second to see what you would do or actually would be phasing and be right next to you within 1 second. Meaning that its practically a guaranteed hit.

"she will have a harder time tracking your via sound"

No, this is 100% false. She can always hear you breathe, and she can more easily hear you breathe than other killers can, since she has no background sounds that are loud enough to mask the breathing. No perk, no item and no ingame mechanic reduces her hearing. If you can afford any headset, you can get the survivor 100% of the time while phasing. Her not being able to see you is not a weakness to her ability. Especially not since there is a tiny bit of auto aim involved in this game.

A potato spirit isnt hard to beat, correct. A decent spirit will always get a 2k. Regardless of the skill of her enemies.

"No perk, no item and no ingame mechanic reduces her hearing. If you can afford any headset, you can get the survivor 100% of the time while phasing."

Seriously with this statement? There are 3 perks that do this. Iron Will, Off The Record, and to a lesser extent No Mither.

You obviously don't play a lot of Spirit because if you did you'd realize that you don't actually catch every survivor every time. Yes most survivors go full potato, but there are some that understand what they are doing and will run you for a long time. I JUST played a game where I ran a Spirit for about 3 minutes. I still died because at this point 2 were dead (one DC'd the other let go on hook) so the game was FUBAR anyway, but had she chased me first that's easily a 3-4 gen chase. Didn't have a problem tricking her into going the wrong way when she was phasing, passive OR active. I played smart, and in fact I only even got caught because the last guy opened a chest which causes a lag spike on Xbox, so I ended up running into a wall getting hit. I could have kept going.

  • IMO it should show downed pallets at any range so long as the perk is not on cooldown. Then you could use it as a sort of pallet use tracker.

  • @Inji said:

The survivors do not hear the whooshing sounds inside her terror radius. No matter if the killer is running Prayer Beads Bracelet addon or not.

This is how it is supposed to work but there is a bug where sometimes you still hear the whoosh inside her terror radius. Apparently its more common on PC than Xbox, but I've heard it sometimes when standing very close to the husk.

  • Bubba is the weakest IMO, but Clown is bad too.

    Two things I would do:

    • The gas can damage generators. It won't apply stuff like Pop or Overcharge but it will help with map pressure if he can damage gens from a distance.
    • Let him chug a bottle for a speed boost effect but maybe he can't attack until it ends (or he ends it). Adds to map pressure.
  • PARTY CRASHER

    • BBQ & Chilli
    • Blood Echo
    • Ruin
    • Thanatophobia
    • cooldown
    • Defaced Smiley Pin
    • IMO the strongest build for Legion. You will be scaring survivors off gens with Frenzy so you will get a lot of value from Ruin so long as it doesn't go down instantly. Thana/Echo are to SEVERELY punish those that want to stay injured, which then slows down the game because survivors will heal. And BBQ for tracking. DSP is just to get more value out of Thana/Echo. You could do Legion Pin but then they don't heal for 60 seconds and just do gens, and you kinda want them to spend time healing. I 4k with +30k BP regularly at rank 1 with this build. It's pretty devastating. You just have to get at least 2 hits each Frenzy, and cut your losses during a long chase by just hitting them with Frenzy and finding someone new.
  • Maybe your controller is busted. I've gotten controllers that started to drift or had deadzones and suddenly it's like I can't aim.

Also try power cycling your Xbox by unplugging it for a minute then turning it back on. Might also want to reset your network.

If none of those help then do hand stretches before you play? IDK.

They will eventually add breakable walls to other maps, so in the future it will be a more viable option. I'm just saying survivors should have SOME way to break these walls if they are going to keep making dead end rooms like this.

    @Terra92 said:

There are two rooms like that, one on the second floor of the saloon, and one near the windmill/water tower.

The one by the windmill isn't a dead end though. It's actually a good window until the killer breaks the wall.

    @Aven_Fallen said:

Well, first there was a strong Loop. Now they added a Deathtrap.

    Yeah, breakable Walls are great.

Yea but the thing with the strong loop was the killer could completely gut the loop by breaking the walls. The other window is the same, it's a really strong window UNTIL the killer breaks the wall next to it. I don't see a problem with that because it's within the power of the disadvantaged party to change it. However the way it is now, the disadvantaged party (survivors) have no way to do anything about it and the advantaged party (killer) has no incentive to break those walls (and in fact is incentivized to NEVER break those walls).

    @Alice_pbg said:

One of the breakable walls should be just a door.

Yea that's basically what I'm saying should happen.

    Definitely not true.

I've faced many rank 20 killers recently because matchmaking is messed up. I've also faced a bunch of red rank killers that play like rank 20's. I'm seriously SHOCKED when the game ends and it turns out the guy was a rank 3. When they chased one survivor the entire game, applied ZERO pressure to other survivors, lost every mind game, and respected every pallet way too hard.

There are a lot of boosted players at red ranks, on both sides.

When I play against a legit red rank I can tell the difference. But the boosted ones make me think I'm against another rank 20 until that end game screen pops up.

  • It's okay.

The problem with I'm All Ears is that if the survivor is good they will be able to avoid you no matter which way you go around the window. It's great against survivors that vault a window and don't look behind them, or as a counter to Lithe/Q&Q that kinda stuff, but against good survivors they will vault the window and watch you to see what you do.

IMO it's best for Nurse since she can just cut the bull ######### and blink through the wall at you. Maybe also for GF or Pig since they can hide their red stain with stealth. But for normie killers like Billy and stuff I don't see it being all that useful.

They both involve sending a message. You keep responding to my messages. Much like a Killer is responding to flashlight clicks. They both have a deeper meaning.

They don't but whatever helps you sleep at night.

Like I'm not going to "lose the forum" for responding to you. Whereas a killer will lose a game for paying attention to a flashlight clicker.

    See the difference now?

  • Also because there are a lot of bad survivors that give killers an inflated ego. If you get boosted babies a lot, yea it's pretty easy to get to rank 1. These are the same killers that dodge lobbies with Blendettes or flashlights or whatever else.

I'm simply recommending you practice what you are saying. I am simply putting words on a web page. Why do you continue to respond? Move on, like you have have suggested.

Because I'm defending a point. Has nothing to do with either a game or being triggered. I'm sure you can see the difference between something done in a game and something done on a forum.

  • It's a pretty sound theory if you ask me.

  • That's an assumption.

Obviously the OP is triggered else he wouldn't be coming here to complain about it and you seem triggered because you agree with him.

Maybe you should just ignore me. Take your L and move on. They are just words.

What L? That you get triggered from someone pressing a button?

  • It's fine how it is.

You can't just take away the meaning of something when it is convenient. That is like saying some insult in chat is just a word. Flashlight clicking is overwhelmingly associated with bullying survivors. The bullying is active in the game, the BM in chat is just dessert. It is one thing to take a loss. It is another to be constantly antagonized while dealing with an inevitable loss. This is super common now that high rank SWF are often going against much lower rank Killers. If BHVR could get it together and fix matchmaking, it would not be such an issue.

Or maybe... you can't just put meaning on something when it's convenient.

An insult in chat IS just a word. If it triggers you, then that's your problem. Take your L and move on.

Anything outside of outright cheating is fair game when you are playing. If someone says something AFTER you can cal that toxic, but that doesn't mean you should get triggered by it.

Instead of greater range it should just guarantee it regresses a couple generators at any range.

That would be a bit OP especially in a 3 gen scenario.

Increase the range and you make it a lot better. Doesn't need to be anything crazy.

Also yes it should work when putting them into dying from any means like Infectious. Would make it more viable for certain killers.

  • I like it because it saves me the trouble of kicking gens. I just wish it had a greater range.

  • If you get triggered by the sound of a clicking flashlight, then you have issues. It's honestly not that big of a deal. The person is doing it to trigger/distract you, therefore if you get triggered/distracted you are just playing into that. Ignore it.

Same with teabagging, or gesturing, or literally anything else someone can do in game as a way to annoy you or get your attention. If you got annoyed by it they win. Honestly it's all fair game, the only ACTUAL toxic thing people can do it ######### talk after the game is over. Taunting your opponent as a means to throw them off their game is a legit tactic.

Like did you know that football players (American) on the line will say nasty ######### to each other to trigger them? Because a triggered opponent makes mistakes and is easy to beat. Don't be a triggered opponent.

  • Technically though they are different.

Chicken nuggets are processed chicken. Ground up, seasoned, pressed into a nugget, deep fried.

Boneless wings (real ones) are just de-boned chicken wings. They aren't processed and pressed into a boneless wing, they are the actual meat just with the bone removed. Some places do sell what are basically chicken nuggets and call them boneless wings, but that's different from actual boneless wings.

Honest mistake. I don't expect everyone to be a chicken expert.

Her phase is literally 176%, only her passive phase is 110%, and the issue is that mindgaming is what allows for looping. Burning pallets everywhere, does not. A decent spirit will know a strong pallet and break it, then phase to catch up, without having any negative side effects. Even wraith is forced to slow down when catching up. If spirit was forced into a prolonged cooldown after a phase attack, then it would at least have a negative side effect to constantly phasing.

If she stops to break the pallet that gives you a chance to hide and/or make it to the next tile very easily unless she has MDR.

She is a 110 killer you were talking about passive phase. If she phases she can't see you and if you are careful she will have a harder time tracking your via sound or grass moving.

She's not that hard to beat. Just don't make stupid moves and think about what she can and can't do. You can indeed counter play a Spirit.

That's what I mean. "If he is closer than 36m". How should you know that by just 'silent' Spinechill? 4m is not that much, it is pretty much guessing if you expose your aura or not.

And against stealth killers: They know where you are. That is an important information. Aura reading is a strong ability. Still think Premonition would be the better choice if you want to play against stealth killers and that Spinechill doesnt counter the negative effects of OoO

If Spine Chill is dark that means it's safe to look around. If the killer is beyond 36m then it doesn't matter if they see you (usually) because they can't do anything about it. If they are closer than 36m then you will be able to see them and they don't know.

Premonition is moot because OOO already tells you what direction they are coming from when it lights up. It also doesn't tell you when a stealth killer is approaching you on a gen or while you heal. It gives a lot of false positives plus it has a cooldown. Spine Chill hard counters stealth killers.

On its own, thats fine, however, considering her passive phasing breaks loops, her active phasing breaks loops, her active phasing beats Nurse's teleport AND beats Wraith's cloaked movementspeed. It's a bit too much to also make people inside the TR unaware that she is phasing in the first place. There is too little in game to counter her.

Just because its by design doesnt make it good design. If her phasing speed was 115% instead of 176%, or even 125%, then it would be much more balanced than she is right now.

Dude Spirit is fine. You can counter her.

You're not supposed to know that she is phasing. When you see her stand still assume she is both phasing and standing still, then do whatever it is you can do that would counter both at the same time.

Her passive phasing is nothing special. She is still a 110 killer, just don't assume anything. Running from one tile to the next is more effective than staying at a tile and looping her. Drop pallets early and use them as windows, because windows are strong against her. If you loop her like a normal killer you will often get hit because of it.

Also no, her powers in no way is better than Nurse. Nurse can straight up teleport through stuff, Spirit is a 110 killer she still has to walk to places, even in phase.

Yeah, genrushing is literally the only counterplay you can have. But you cant really call that counter play.

    Spirit issues:

    1. no animation when going into phasemode
    2. no sound cues while in her terror radius
    3. passive phasing removes her red stain
    4. while phasing, she can still get readings from survivor positioning(fast vaults, surveillance, discordance, unhooks), while survivors at best get a woosh that is maxed out 5 meters around her.
    5. she has an easier time hearing breathing and injured people while having the movementspeed of wraith without any downsides. Not even a stun(seriously, she would be so much better to play against if she got a stun after her ability).
    6. Technically not an issue with spirit specifically, but add Stridor on spirit, and you literally cannot juke her. The only thing you can do is pallet stun her, and even that is not a guarantee.

    Freddy issues:

    1. his addons alone are disgusting, some being even basically dying light at full stacks from the start of the game, applied to everyone.
    2. His teleport cooldown shouldnt be loading when everyone is awake, he still gets a teleport roughly every 20 seconds even when people are awake.
    3. His slows are Clown's slows but better as they are pretty much permanent. The worst part? Even if you get out of the original trap, it still is applied onto you for 2 seconds. Meaning its a 3-4 second slow, when it should be a 1-2 second slow.
    4. Even if he uses his pallets, there is literally nothing you can tell the difference with the pallet. With Doc, they are dropped and its revealed to you that they are dropped as soon as you hit them. Freddy's pallets are not revealed untill you drop them. That difference is extremely important. Freddy's pallets literally stop your movement to drop a fake pallet, where Doc's don't. Aka, Freddy's pallets are stronger than Doc's and Freddy's slow is better than Clown.
    5. Then, technically, Freddy's lunge is the largest of all since his hitbox is smaller. Meaning he can reach further where other killers wouldnt hit. Meaning he can hit you practically on the opposite side of the pallet where other killers cant reach you earlier. Considering his set-up is already incredibly strong, and his addons make his kit even worse, making him by far the strongest killer in the game, towering over spirit, huntress and nurse.
    DBD_20190905_Spirit_LoadScreenTip_StandStill.jpg

You're not supposed to know when she is phasing. It's by design.

Also if you play Huntress you'd know that hafts>wind up and are actually how you can land hatchets and follow it up with an m1 quickly. Wind up add-ons don't actually make it faster to swing after you throw a hatchet.

I still dont get it. When I see the killer aura, I can see if the killer is looking into my direction, I don't need Spinechill to tell me. The downside of the perk is that my aura is exposed. So the 4m ring is the part OP means with "never worry" about downside? I think 4m is such a short distance so that you never know if the killer is too far away or not looking at you, so it does not really give you the info when it is safe to look for the killer.

Same for stealth killers, Spinechill doesn't help me to hide my aura when the killer is further away than Spinechill range. "Never worry" isn't really the term I would use, my aura is still exposed pretty often and for most cases, if I have problems with that, I would rather recommend to run Premonition with Spinechill to get more safe information about the killer location without exposing myself

You are looking at it backwards.

You avoid looking in the killer's direction unless Spine Chill is dark. If it's dark that means it's safe to look at the killer if they are closer than 36m.

Also against stealth killers it will prevent you from accidentally revealing your aura to them when they are stealth. Again if Spine Chill is dark, you are free to look around so long as you know the killer is nearby (whereas if they are far away it doesn't matter if they see you anyway they can't do anything about it).

I tried that several times and half the time you lose your token early during camera panning, making the first token wasted

Can someone help me out? How does Spinechill counter the OoO downsides?

    No that's the point!

It's to hide the fact you have OOO during the camera pan. The other 2 tokens should be used wisely to get free OOO until you get hooked and can use OTR to hide your aura instead.

Spine Chill let's you know when the killer is looking in your direction within 36m, so for the normal 32m TR killer it means there is a 4m range where you can be sure you are looking at them with OOO and they are NOT looking at you. If Spine Chill is dark then you are free to use OOO until it lights up. Also using them in combination will let you basically be able to see a stealth killer. If both are dark, you can't see each other. If both are lit then the direction you are looking is where the stealth killer is and they are watching you. Just don't move in that direction where OOO is lit.

"If you "did not tunnel" and get hit by DS you were punished for making a mistake"

I don't follow your logic bud. What do you mean by mistake? Killers are making mistakes by being good at the game? And your comparison from NOED to DS doesn't make any sense either. You didn't even bother reading my post. I said NOED is a perk that counters survivor's perk (adrenaline) - both are end game perks. DS is a perk that counters tunneling. This IS a significant difference. And punishing killers by DS who are not even tunneling is not even fair.

"I don't follow your logic bud. What do you mean by mistake?"

You. Picked. Up. A. Survivor. That. Was. Recently. Hooked.

Seriously if you can't acknowledge that as a mistake I don't know what else to say to you. Keep track of when people we last hooked and DS is not a problem.

And I did read your post it says "I don't want to bother changing my tactics to account for DS, I just want to chase and down survivors like a bot and pick them up without thinking."

  • @rabldong said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1271075#Comment_1271075

NOED is a perk that counters survivor's perk adrenaline and gives a chance to low-tier killers (trapper, crown, etc) to snowball during the end game. The word "punish" is not a right word to use. More precisely, it punishes survivors for not cleansing the totems - it has nothing to do with gen speed.

I said DS can punish efficient killers who did NOT tunnel. It's not about tactic. The DS should be reworked in a way that if a killer goes after another survivor and hooks him/her, the DS timer should be deactivated (for the survivor who was unhooked previously), because the killer was not obviously tunneling.

"I said DS can punish efficient killers who did NOT tunnel."

If you "did not tunnel" and get hit by DS you were punished for making a mistake. It's pretty simple.

And I made the comparison to NOED because you could literally take your arguments about DS and apply them to NOED. It is seriously hypocritical to complain about DS but then turn around and say NOED is fine.

Either they are both fine or neither are fine. Take your pick.
