So what's the problem? You either get caged or you get hooked and then immediately die. The outcome isn't going to change if someone brings a Mori in unless you succeed at hiding or escaping chases.
You can stop someone from getting hooked (flashlight, sabo, pallets, etc). And you have more ways to protect the unhooked guy (BT, DS, etc).
The outcome would indeed change if you had to take hooks instead of using cages.

@thesuicidefox you're just being pedantic. a simple change to the offering description and this big "issue" is solved.
it's mind blowing you seem to think it's this big deal hence why i assumed you were getting at something else as did others apparently
No. There doesn't need to be a change to the offering. Read what I wrote.
MORI SHOULD NOT WORK WITH CAGES.
No other hook effects work on cages, why is mori the exception?
-
@Grim said:
He'd just take several extra seconds to hook you then. if anything you're safer if he decides to cage as your teammates can nearly insta save you and ph has to travel across the map
Also killer hook perks also dont work with the cage too. e.g., bbq
This isn't an issue
You guys are missing the point. So I will make it easy.
IF THE OFFERING SAYS "HOOK" THEN YOU MUST HOOK.
Period end of story. It is an issue and it's honestly mind blowing people defend it.

You want them to change the wording on moris over such semantics?
What? No. Where did I say that. The mori says "HOOKED" therefore it should not work if you did not hook someone.
-
@Veen said:
I heavily doubt it'll change the outcome anyways. Both Moris & Keys are a difficult issue.
This is independent of mori/key balance.
It says "hooked" on the offering. It makes no sense to allow mori if literally no other hook effect works.
@SpaceCoconut said:
Cages count as being hooked, but being released from one doesn't count as being unhooked.
No they don't. BBQ and Pop do not work if you cage someone. Therefore, they do not count as hooks. They only remove hook states.

I had a guy with NM/Tenacity/UB/SG use it against me. But no one had DS and I only slugged him because I don't wanna be the guy that tunnels the NM guy. I'm an exception, not the rule, most killers would have just hooked him again with no obsession in play. If someone had DS he would have probably got it legit, but his friend also lead me back to him so that he could get up next to me and make me hit him. I still got the 4k BTW.
-
There should be a buffer period where he can't see the cages. Like maybe 20 seconds or something. Then you can rush a cage save before he can get over there to camp, but if you wait too long he can still camp/tunnel the cage.

Wait, it extends his chainsaw range too?
I just thought the killers I was up against were either VPNing or just had wooden modems. Yikes.
Lunge and chainsaw, because it apparently connects based on the camera hitbox. I've had Billys lunge and hit me 3m away, it's like a super lunge.

Considering Nurse has been busted since her nerf/rework and they still leave her eight or so bugs alone, I'm starting to get concerned.
I wasn't much of a Billy player in the first place because I chain saw more walls... and rocks, and trees, than I do people, but the "zoomed" in FOV along with his camera movements legitimately make me motion sick when trying to playing him now.
It affects both sides too. I can't move around or chainsaw properly because the camera is messed up. But Billy's lunge and chainsaw range are extended. I've been chainsawed through trees and from 10 ft away because of these bugs.
It is seriously negatively effecting both sides, I'd expect something to be done sooner than later.

Better idea: Blindness makes Hex totems appear as dull totems. This indirectly buffs Third Seal, and makes Blindness more valuable if you run Hex perks.

They can check your username if you're appearing online, on PS4 anyway
You can't do that on Xbox anymore since dedi's. People don't even come up in recents after the game most of the time. There is absolutely 0 way for them to know who I was.
-
I think this might be possible on console too. Last night I had the same group dodge me multiple times while I sat in the lobby as a Spirit. It was a 4 stack, the pings were fine, nothing to dodge, yet they left within 10 seconds of me joining the lobby, then instantly left when all 4 popped up against about 30 seconds later.

"Trump Derangement Syndrome", a made-up "condition" that's used to dismiss any and all criticism of its namesake.
The funny thing is it's not actually made up. It's one thing to criticize the POTUS for whatever reason. Every president was criticized during their term. It's another thing to have a full blown aneurysm about everything the POTUS does. The media twists everything to fit their narrative against him, and the Democrats continuously try to find ways to undermine him. The whole impeachment thing was complete nonsense.
I wasn't exactly a fan of having Obama as a president, but I knew it was, at most, 8 years. It's not the end of the world. TDS is very much a real thing for some people. What most people do is not actual criticism, it's straight up temper tantrums.
-
I've had this name for 18 years.
-
Because majority of game developers are liberal, the companies are located in mostly liberal cities, and TDS is a real disease.

I don't see it being ran by anyone on my friends list, my SWF, randos.
It's such an uncommon perk to see. Yes it has counters but plenty of people would rather run BT, DS, Dead Hard and well, like Iron Will or something. I'm only pointing out, that @LordGlint 's post is not a coincidence. They were using that thing they use to see what killer they're going against.
Because everyone has the same (incorrect) opinion as you. The perk has a lot of value. I run it all the time and I can tell you it makes a huge difference.
Same with Better Together. I start to use this perk recently and found it's actually really good. By showing the auras of the gen you can get survivors to group up on key gens to avoid a 3 gen, and you give information to whoever is being chased so they know where NOT to run. Plus the added aura read when someone goes down can be very helpful in determining whether or not you should stop doing the gen to make the save (a bit like Kindred, but you get the information on the down instead of on the hook which is actually better in most cases).
Second Wind is yet another great perk people sleep on. It's just no one uses these perks because they THINK they are bad. They aren't. You should try Calm Spirit for a day and see what I mean. If you get a Doc or killer with Infectious it is indeed worth it. If not, enjoy being able to run rather freely since you don't alert crows. Good killers will spot them and you can hide a lot more effectively.
-
Honestly Spine Chill probably hurt you more than OOO as Ghostface. OOO against Ghostface will backfire.
-
The only things I don't like are 1) you need to do a full solo heal, so if someone else helps you get screwed out of SW, and 2) if you get downed while Broken you lose SW entirely. I think it should just reset, you keep the charge of SW it just won't trigger until the next time you are pulled from a hook. Just a bit dumb to require someone to get another heal if they go down while Broken. Like I understand making it not heal you anymore, that makes sense, but damn it sometimes it's hard to get that one full solo heal to get it charged.
Otherwise yes I agree, it's not actually that bad of a perk.
-

No, it's not a coincidence.
No one runs Calm Spirit, it's a trash perk except for usage against Doctor. =]
Excuse me sir. It is not a trash perk.
Hard counters Doc. Soft counters Clown and Freddy.
Hard counters Infectious. Like REALLY hard counters it. Any killer running Infectious when you have Calm Spirit, their build/tactics are completely gutted.
Not disturbing crows is low key really strong. I can't tell you how often I find survivors because of crows flying or landing.
Not screaming when hit can make it really easy to lose the killer in fog or corn. It can also really confuse them if you take a cheeky protection hit. Often they will think they hit the guy they were chasing and will be looking on the floor for a few seconds until they realize what happened.
On topic, I'm curious to know how people are finding out the killer in the lobby.
-
Spirit, Legion, and Ghostface I play a lot and can win very convincingly with them for the vast majority of my games. I mean like 4k 3/4 gens while playing fair.
Huntress, Trapper, and Billy I can consistently 4k but sometimes struggle depending on the map or skill of survivors. Used to be a much better Huntress but I have played her less and less over the last year. Only starting to get back into playing her now. Billy I refuse to play until his bugs are fixed.
Freddy I can dominate literally 99.9% of my games. 4k 4/5 gen. But I also find Freddy to be brain dead easy and borderline overpowered, especially because I run Forever Freddy builds. I don't like playing him anymore, I only do it for dailies or if I suspect a group will be extra toxic. I would much rather old Freddy with some QOL changes than this one honestly.
Nurse I can do very well but only after I play her for a bit to get back into the groove. My first game or two I struggle enough that I might not want to keep playing.
Pig, Plague, and Clown I find fun to play but I'm not amazing with them. Pig I can usually do well but I kinda stopped playing her since EGC came out since I was an end game Pig. Plague and Clown I'm just straight up not good with, it's really hard to remain consistent with them.
-
It's probably a bug. I signed in before and it reset me to... rank 1. In other words, nothing happened.
-
Actually playing as Ghostface is more like playing survivor because you can crouch.

So nobody who does anything nice can ever show it because they're being political? Have you considered that people might like good news every once in a while in their social media between all the doom and gloom, bots, racists, and fake news?
Bro, you're not "being nice" by including people you should have included anyway.
That's like saying "I didn't murder anyone today! Hooray for me!". Yea that's what it should be. You're not special for doing what you should have done in the first place.

Since any time LGBT and/or black people are added to a game it's complained about as "virtue signaling", I say let them virtue signal their asses off. Whoever doesn't like it can leave.
Add them to the game I don't mind. Just don't go "Oh hey look what we did because we want to be more inclusive!"
If you just do it, there is no virtue signalling. When you make an effort to draw attention to you doing it, that is virtue signalling, which means you are being political.

There's nothing political about including people with certain characteristics.
There very much is something political about virtue signaling when you do it though.
-
Keep politics out of video games.
LBGT, SWJ, BLM, Trump, Brexit. IDGAF. It has no place in games.
This is a major reason I decided NOT to pursue a career in game development when I had the chance. Too much political BS. Also ######### working conditions and no job security.
-
I sometimes use it on Nurse. Can be very helpful for her. That's about it.
-
I hit greats without even trying most of the time. I practiced a lot with old Ruin and now it's just second nature.
The only time I focus on hitting skill checks is if it's Doc, or it's like an Overcharge skill check I really need to hit.

All hex perks are disabled after being cleansed. They are tied to that lit totem , so if it's gone then the perk is gone too.
They just forgot to add that text.
Yes but this perk does not say this.
I had this argument with a friend. It makes no sense for every other totem to have this text but not this one. Either the text is missing OR the perk is not working as intended (where it should inflict Oblivious/show the aura even after the totem is cleansed).
-
Or just play like a scumbag. No need for a mori if you slug everyone.
-
I'm on Xbox too and I get some of the most potato red ranks ever. Killers too.
Last night my friend and I had a game on Game against a Wraith with anti-heal build. These two couldn't last 20 seconds in a chase and threw every pallet on the map. Then the Laurie follows me half the game to heal me through Sloppy and Thana when we needed to do gens.
Can't wait for this MMR to kick in. My only concern is matchmaking times, which are already too long, becoming longer because it has to match based on stricter criteria. I feel like I already play at the highest level, I know players better than me on Xbox but it's not a huge pool and of course they all aren't on at the same time.

Basement Demo

Where did i mention farming? You are either senile or didn't read my response.
And by the title, this is a story thread.
Besides, i wasn't taking advantage of survivors by looking bad as a killer. You got that reversed. It's clear you aren't reading my responses. You may need to calm down mister. Unless you are calling out Orion's story here as what you are calling it out.
"They don't want to kill me and instead let me escape"
Sounds like a farming game. If not it's still not what is being talked about here. I'm talking about situations like the OP describes where you feign being a rank 20 to trick survivors.
-
I would argue that Fixated, Calm Spirit, Head On, and Lithe are all viable rank 1 survivor perks.
- Fixated combos very well with Sprint Burst and is a great perk against 110 killers. Especially effective against Spirit.
- Calm Spirit hard counters Doc and Infectious, and soft counters Clown, Freddy, and any other perk that makes you scream. Also not disturbing crows is low key very strong as good killers WILL be able to track you by crows. Even if you don't disturb them when they are looking if they see crows landing they know a survivor was just there, and then can follow the landing crows to your position. I DO THIS ALL THE TIME.
- Head On can be useful with DS and/or Q&Q. Can also be a good anti-basement perk if you are ready for it. If you use it for cheeky stuns during a chase then it's a meme, but if you use it to save other survivors it can be clutch.
- Lithe is probably the weakest Exhaust perk but still entirely viable.
I'd also argue that Distressing, Dark Devotion, Blood Echo, Dying Light, Shadowborn and Deerstalker are viable killer perks.
- Distressing is best on Doc but it can also be used in combo with Infectious for better results.
- Dark Devotion is a good stealth perk, more for specific builds but still highly effective.
- Blood Echo is amazing on Legion and Plague.
- Dying Light is a permanent Thana. It's harder to get value, but the value of just 4 hooks is equal to permanent 3 stacks of Thana. Combos well with Pop.
- Shadowborn counters a lot of survivor stealth tactics and makes it harder to hide in fog or corn. Good for 110 killers to counter Urban Evasion/Fixated.
- Deerstalker is almost a must have for slug builds, and is a free perk so it can be used without grinding.

If it was a mistake with the script, then why did the spotlight show the killer sneaking up on the survivor while talking about the perk?
Was Forced Penance supposed to inflict oblivious but was changed to broken late in development?
Probably because the script was given to a separate team in charge of making the spotlight video. If they saw "Oblivious" then they would think "how to do we represent that visually" thus we get a demonstration of what the script said.

What's CLASSIC about this?
It's their ######### choice, not mine. They don't want to kill me and instead let me escape, they know exactly what is happening and they decided it. Faking surrender is nothing close to this. I can't retaliate back at them. They're just letting me escape because they thought it's fine to lose emblem points or bloodpoints. What are you, some kind of god judge who decides what's scumbag in games? Any tactic is a good tactic in a game, if it wins you games. Examples: swf with ooo, abusing meta perks, tunneling, camping basement with insidious leatherface, going afk as wraith to farm xp, slugging as a nurse.
Get a life.
This isn't a thread about farming. It's a thread about pretending to be a rank 20 in a time when matchmaking is completely ######### and taking advantage of survivors.
Play how you want, but if you play like a scumbag I'm going to call it out.

I think there is some potential for basement builds. They make a trade then you hit the guy with BT it should count as a protection hit, now he can't heal for 30 seconds. If you hook the other guy immediately it means they can't run out, rush a heal, and then make a play for the save as quickly.

I'm a Rank 1 Killer and Survivor Player.
In my Survivor games, the easiest way to tell a red from a purple is their commitment. If you hit people and leave most of them, you aren't going to have the pressure you need to win games. You can tell a good Killer apart because they rarely injure people that they have no intention of downing and they can commit to full chases that get them reliable downs. Perks like Pop and BBQ only start the momentum rolling with constant downs not just injures
I'm rank 1 and I take free hits all the time. For killers like Spirit and Ghostface it is super good (especially because I run Sloppy on both).
I think a better determination of a good killer is when they know to commit or not commit to a chase. A killer that appears indecisive is likely a low rank killer. A killer that make decisions quickly and commits to them fully is a high rank killer. Also a killer that knows how to prioritize actions and/or does actions efficiently/optimally is a high rank killer. Low rank killers act in the moment. High rank killers are always planning the next 5 or 6 things they are going to do. This is easiest seen with Huntress. A good Huntress will reload immediately when they get the opportunity. A bad Huntress will half commit to a chase then give up to reload.

My point is it's not comparable to a war crime in the slightest.
I never said it was. But the specific act of faking surrender is an act of feigning weakness, which is what this is. IT IS A COWARDS MOVE. Do it if you wish, but that's what it is.
"It's just a game bro" is a seriously lame excuse to be a dick.

Dude, it's a game. Is it a dick move? Sometimes, if the survivors take pity on the killer. More often than not, though, they take advantage and show how toxic they are. That said, it's nowhere near comparable to a war crime.
It's a scumbag thing to do. IDGAF how you justify it. It's cowardly to resort to these kinds of tactics. You won't change my mind.

Oh my ######### god if you seriously call a game tactic scumbag and then compare it to a real life issue you need to get a ######### life. I heard taking a walk could lengthen your life. If that's not possible, a simple exercise can get blood flowing into your brain.
Cool story btw. I do similar tactic but on the survivor side.
Pretending to feign weakness is a scumbag tactic. Why do you think it is a war crime to fake a surrender? It's one thing to fake out your opponent it's another thing to trick them into taking pity on you because of how MM is ######### right now and they don't want to be bullies.
Says I need to get a life, but then gets his kicks from taking advantage of the few nice players that exist in this game. CLASSIC.

Yeah, they weren't farming. Farming would've been letting me hit them, for example, instead of teabagging at every pallet. If they'd tried to farm, I would've taken pity on them and played to the full extend of my ability (or just farmed along with them).
What I got out of this was a 4k that I would've have trouble getting otherwise. Even then it was difficult at the end because Claudette is ######### invisible and we all knew where the hatch was.

I'm glad we agree.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1339856#Comment_1339856
But why?
Yea if they are being dicks IDGAF what you do.
I'm just sayin' I've encountered killers that pretend to be rank 20's then turn into rank 1's the moment they get the opportunity to slug everyone or use NOED/BW or something, even when we play nice because we don't want to booly a rank 20.

i just don't see the point in arguing with a 7000 post survivor main saying that Object is fine in anyway when its great against all killers and counters hag and trapper even in solo its still op.
OOO is fine in solo. It does counter some killers but it's really not that bad. You have ways to play around it as well, with perks that give Undetectable, or add-ons that give blindness (the sole reason I run Sheep Block on Freddy).
However in an SWF, just one OOO is borderline game breaking because that information gets shared with everyone. In solo you see a Trapper set a trap, then only you see it. In an SWF everyone sees it. Unlike DS, which needs to be stacked to have more power in a SWF, you only need 1 OOO to get a significant advantage over killer. FOR THAT REASON I think it needs to be changed.
DS isn't that level of game breaking, even when stacked. Killer can still play around it, as Otz has shown in the video you posted. He had 2 DS in that game and still 4k'd. There are videos of him doing that with 4 DS as well. It's not that strong of a perk. But if that was a SWF with just one OOO that would be a different story because he was Trapper and they will all know where he is putting traps.
Furthermore OOO is NOT great against all killers. It's clear you don't play much survivor with OOO, but against stealth killers it can be more of a hinderance than a help even in SWF. Wraith and Pig are probably the best against it, while Ghostface is also good against it. Myers is good against it in tier 1. Spirit can't be seen while phasing so it can backfire there. And Billy/Oni while you can see them if they are good and chase you then chances are high you will go down.

If its a map with really difficult totem spawns then its not. Although playing safe is good, it doesn't really counter noed. Like this one match. I had a doctor who facecamped off the first hook(me, don't judge I can't loop swamp) and tunneled me, I looped him for five gens and got adrenaline, but he had noed, he downed me, face camped, but my team couldn't find the totem and ended up doing a one for one, as I had carried the team ( I window teched over 20 times and he never knew where I was for a couple of seconds after) anyways, I saved in front of him, and he picked up immediately. He got hit by d's and I got out when I saw that he had downed the other guy. The poor guy didnt have d's and the doctor ended up getting a kill he didn't deserve, all because of that map having hard totem spawns. That wasn't anyone's fault. My point is that sometimes noed isn't preventable. It's really all about luck with the map, honestly.
- Small Game
- Detective's Hunch (probably the absolute best anti-totem perk).
- Map with Yellow Wire
- Rainbow Map
- Any map offering other than Lerys or Hawkins
Not to mention that if you truly commit to it, you can find all the totems on any map. It's not hard to learn how totems spawn and where they spawn and search the map for them.
Truth is, your friends should have just left you to die if they couldn't find the totem. Doc gets 1 kill. Sucks to be that guy on the hook, but better than feeding him more kills.
