  • I've thought a lot about poor clown and here are a few things about your suggestions:

    1) Adding exhaustion to his base kit is too strong. If he got exhaustion with 2 other addons, I think it might really buff him a lot (but I could be wrong).

    2) I 100% agree with @xEa, these are excellent suggestions. Especially the odd vaulting noise not seen in other killers.

    Here is mine:

When you intoxicate a survivor, you get a stack of Bloodlust for 5 Seconds

If you land a direct hit, the survivor is intoxicated for 100% longer.

    Remove clowns vaulting noise

    3) Teleportation doesn't fit into his theme, sadly. Even though you are right map pressure is his greatest weakness.

    4) I also agree that reloading bottles is a HUGE weakness. Either add more bottles to the base kit or increase the base speed of reload.

    5) Maybe add Oblivious to the gas effect (i.e. can't hear the heartbeat)

    6) Maybe simply add the increased blurred vision (like the purple addons effect but not as great) to the base kit.

I'm not sure, a full rework might be the best but who knows.

  • I wish this was on a scale. When I first started playing, I only played survivor with friends. Then later, I started playing killer and switched over to about 60% killer - 40% survivor. I think it is really a spectrum for most people. When my friends get on, it is always survivor, so depends on that too.

Don't get too optimistic: I'm on of those weirdos who's good with reading comprehension. Don't know what the hell I'm doing posting on an internet forum, I must've gotten lost or something. ;)

I'm interested to see what'll happen with the whole disconnection thing once dedicated servers truly come online. Will we see a decrease in disconnects or will we see a lot more players getting banned? Will survivors disconnect less when they can't deny killers BBQ stacks or give the last survivor the hatch?

I 100% agree. I'm so hopeful that dedicated servers will bring at least some sort of justice to survivors disconnecting because they know there is no punishment and that it hurts the killer. Same on the killer side too. It feels to me (playing both survivor and killer) that it happens way more often with survivors, but only actual statistics could measure that.

  • From my first post:

"I think the devs should institute a 5 minutes timer if you DC purposefully where you can't match." - i.e. DC=time out from matching.

I cant even tell what youre trying to say...

But can we not post clips of streamers as if they are the second coming and rainbows shoot out their asses? Please and thank you.

Yes, DCs are an issue. Yes, camping is an issue. Its not a "them" vs "you" problem. Both of these are issues and the community as a whole should want them both addressed. Its not like they can fix one but not the other and we have to pick one.

I'd post footage of my own experiences if I could. I only posted the streamer's video because it gave a crystal clear example of what I was talking about.

It seems it was taken down, so I will just post the link here: https://youtu.be/fAYoznKPlNg

Also, camping isn't really an issue in my opinion. The killer loses points by doing so. When I play survivor, sure it feels bad when you get camped and your teammates typically don't know how to handle the situation (i.e. rush gens or make a coordinate effort to save). In contrast, however, DCing has no counterplay. It isn't a good comparison.

Survivors will kill themselves on hook instead of dcing. Nothing will change really.

If you don't want people to dc then don't run broken addons like that in the video. No one enjoys going against iridescent head huntress or prayer beads spirit.

That kind of thinking shows survivor elite-ism. Survivors have instant heals, keys, their own overpowered addons - yet you don't see killers DC over that. I have seen killers DC from time to time but not in the way survivors do.

See, the fact you can say to me "If you don't want people to dc then don't run broken addons like that in the video," shows the very problem of toxic DCing. Survivors get mad over anything in the game (missing thier DS, oh a loop didn't go my way, oh I'm against a nurse), just DC is what your saying.

Excuse me, but I might have missed that "toxicity" part. Could you please elaborate? What did they do during the trial to give you the feeling that they were toxic? Or is DCing = toxic for you?

I'm asking, because in the title, you've mentioned DCing AND toxicity as two keywords.

    Thanks in advance!

I do need to elaborate on my personal experience. In my game, after I hooked the first girl, she DCed. I kept playing, and the other players did not DC right away (as I realize rereading my own post, it seems like they did). Instead, they just ran around, looped and seemed to play like normal. However, each time I downed a person, then they DCed. So, they essentially wasted my time. I had to find and down the remaining three people.

When we got to the lobby, they started typing stupid things - like, "are you gonna call my mom? What are you doing to do?" The also just started talking amongst each other and laughing. I reported them and ended the chat, but the experience left a really bad taste in my mouth - hence this post.

Yet elaborating more on this matter, DCing can be toxic for other reasons as well. Ive had people DC in the beginning of a Clown game because I found them first and read their looping and downed them. In a particular instance, one person DCed and so did their friend. Leaving 2 survivors with 5 gens at the start.

In games like those, I typically let the survivors get a few gens and don't take things seriously because if I do, I get an entity displeased.

DCing to downrank is also still a think you can experience as the 13th approaches.

What I was meaning to say is that DCing can and is being used in a toxic manner. I believe something needs to be done regarding it, and I was under the impression there were plans to address the problem.

  • YEEESSSS!!!! They will be focused on getting blight rather than doing Gens! It's like an indirect nerf to Gen Speed! I love it! Might briefly help balance the game! HAHA

  • I hate to say this but go Spirit or Nurse at red ranks. Then it becomes fun again. The game simply isn't balanced well at the high ranks and you need pressure from killers that can give it. It is heart breaking, but that is just how the game works at high ranks as the Devs balance for the majority of players in the lower ranks.

  • This strategy does not work if survivors know how to play the situation. If you follow your strategy, typically it means you don't chase too far and then there are 4 players left at the end of the game trying to get the last gen (even though they've three gen-ed themselves).

Then, they simply split into 2 pairs and work on the 2 gens in the triangle that are furthest apart. If you chase off one Gen, they immediately work on the other and vice versa.

    They win through attrition.

I propose that you never run Ruin alone and always pair it with another anti-gen perk (or maybe 2), such as pop goes the weasel, thanatophobia, or dying light.

  • @Twinbros said:

Of course they are, why else would the game be so heavily tilted in favor of Killers? And why else would they try to cover up this fact up by making the Survivor pip system a complete joke?

If the survivor (and killer) pip was based on surviving and killing (as it should be), then the number of red rank survivors would be a small handful and the red killers would be a flood. This would more accurately explain the state of the game and how balanced, or not, it is.

The problem is Killers (and Devs) think that in order for a Killer to "win" a match, they need to kill everyone. 3/4 is meh, and 2/4 is a complete loss in their eye. Which if were being honest 2 survivors in a game is a draw, and the most equal match possible.

And it's not survivors that need "buffs" and "better perks" it's killers that need nerfs and perks taken away. Why Killers should be able to see survivors through aura's is quite possibly the dumbest thing ever. Likewise nearly every killer has a form of 1 hit down ability or ######### over gens. Ruin/BBQ chili (the two perks that should be removed) are in every game, that tells you how broken these two perks are.

This is just so wrong. Look at this video and learn first hand how survivors are the power role in the game:

    https://youtu.be/vhhpvy04ng8

  • The other thing is that his bottle refile (without addons), design to happen after his "superior" chase, just reduces his map pressure immensely. I'm unsure why the price is so high for an okay power.

  • @Dr_Loomis said:

If they don't get (or haven't got) the IT/Pennywise license, I think balloons filled with his tonic could be left like traps. They could pop when touched by a survivor releasing the gas. This would give The Clown more pressure.

You think the clown would be morphed into Pennywise? I saw elsewhere that he would be his own killer if they did it that way.

I've never been against buffing killers. Especially the non-meta ones.

Agreed. I actually want to play the lesser killers, but the gen speed is so fast at the higher ranks it is really challenging. :/

  • At high ranks, I stopped using Ruin because the survivors always hit their great skill checks (red ranks for ya), meaning Ruin doesn't even slow the game down at that rank. I found that thanatophobia and dying light worked much better for me.

  • Could OP first establish why they think NOED needs to be changed? There is plenty of counter-play with cleansing the totems during the game. And even when it goes off, the survivors can search and find it before attempting rescue. Can you clarify the perceived problem?

  • @Mochan said:

Ah, if I ever get a PS4 I will block the messenger somehow.

    100% agree. Sketch

  • The new set I love to run is Thanatophobia and Dying light. Sure the obsession becomes an awesome healer, but they complement each other well. And, unlike ruin, slow the gens all the time once active (rather than depend on the skill of the survivors).

  • Is OP asking to take the struggle out of struggle? xD

  • Survivors are still the power role in this game - even among the top 3 killers (with skill of course). Anyone advocating for buffs to survivors also needs to advocate for buffs to the weaker killers. It is the only way things can remain fun for BOTH killers and survivors.

  • I think Slenderman could be cool. Although, would his ability be to appear out of your line and site and start floating towards you? I'm not sure, but the design team could have a field day with him. :)

  • My thoughts after reaching rank 1:

Spirit is overpowered in the sense that even some red rank survivors do not know how to mind game her. That being said, there were still teams and red ranks who did very well with all 4 escaping. Also, Iron Will wrecks her tracking as sound is key. But all in all, as people have already said, I agree she tips the scales towards the killer but only because survivors are not used to her shenanigans.

What I enjoyed most about Spirit is that DS and instant heals didn't extremely hurt her (as they do clown for instance). I could easily just track the DS person/Instant heal person down or just go elsewhere. Also, She can travel between the gens so FAST! I realized that killer movement is honestly what Nurse, (new) Freddy, Billy, and Spirit have in common, and why I personally thing they are all upper tier killers. Fast movement is what allows juggling. I actually think I might open another thread on this topic.

All in all, overpowered survivor perks and items (DS, borrow time, instant heals) simply do not hurt the meta killers (Spirit, Nurse, Billy, maybe (new) Freddy) as much as the others. Additionally, distance does not hurt the meta killers either as they all have flexible movement abilities (flexible in the sense that they get you to where you want to go without conditions such as triggering a trap or a portal).

  • Great news guys! By Abandoning the Clown (Thanks for ranks 20ish-4, ye served meh well) and embracing the Spirit, I earned the achievement in a few days! From 4 to 1! I even earned rank 1 with a perfect match! :D

    Achievement_themirrortwin.JPG

This thread also got a little heated. Can we be a bit more civil, folks?

  • I love the survivors! Nice cosmetic and game design. Demogorgon needs a little love, but I'll wait until the hot fix to see how he plays. I wish his perks were a bit stronger, but who knows what the future holds.

  • Also, this is very topical to this thread from another 3000+ hour streamer:

    https://youtu.be/vhhpvy04ng8

  • Thanks for the feedback. It appears the consensus is that Clown will unfortunately struggle at the top tier. I just really like his style, but I can't bring red head's pinky finger to every match. Also, y'all are right in that I shouldn't expect it to be easy (to be fair, I never did). I just wish I could do it with a killer I really enjoy. I will try your build

@Carlosylu I'll definitely try the build. Thank you

@Kilmeran @Omans Thanks for the feedback and the perspective. I think you're points are very compelling and I can hope hope hope for a meta-shift someday. It feels weird though because getting rank 1 on survivor (even after the ranking change) was just much less difficult for me. Its the killer side that has really challenged me.

  • Here is a popular streamer's opinion on the matter. I sympathize with his perspective from my own experience. I really want to reach rank 1 with Clown, but just no way! This streamer has over 3,000 hours (maybe more):

    https://youtu.be/Qkf_JFy4gaE

  • @Mochan said:

Your theory is wrong, because at the end of the day there are killers who can make mince meat out of survivor teams at Rank 1.

You simply aren't skilled enough to hang at this rank yet. Work on it.

I think you may have missed part of the point. I think with Spirit, I have a good chance of getting there (but again this post isn't about me). No way with Clown, and that is sad. The game should be balanced to have diverse killers at all tiers.
