If you were across the map returning to the hook wouldn’t be strategic. The only scenarios where it’s at all reasonable involve some form of camping (face or proxy).
Ive had cases where playing billy i hook. Saw away. Can't find anyone because lets say its like red forest or something. The unhook happens. I go to where i know people are so i saw back and down the unhooker. I proxied by using a killers power? Like i know billys rare but his design is to get around the map quickly lol. Other cases is where its like final 2-3 and it just doesn't make sense to be hunting the 1 while over half the remaining is in one spot. Only other case i can think of is me walking off and the survivors do the back save while im literally walking away. So theres a good few of examples.

Doesn't bother me. Sometime I will do it to help a teammate escape.
If you choose to tunnel me after that, I don't take it personally. It's all fun and games. Not sure why me trying to help a teammate would bother someone so much.
I think its moreso the fact it was added to let a survivor have some chance to get away from a killer who just wants them dead immediately. Which fair play if a killer wants you dead you should gain some defense to have some chance. BT was used for partially that reason. The other part was for bodyblock plays which had little counter. Which now both those parts are in the basekit game now. You shouldn't be stopped going for the unhooker (a thing heavily encouraged) by the unhooked because they have a shield over them. Its nothing about you deciding to do it to help a teammate. Its the killers position of trying to play at the fairest they can and being punished for it. But i just ignore survivors complaints after they do it. Not that big of a deal. I also know its 10 seconds so if they spend 5 bodyblocking. That gives them 5 more to get somewhere while im right on top of them. Good luck to them lol.

For me it depends on the killer and the other perks I’m using. I like GoP on instadown killers like Bubba (because then they have the debuff until they’re downed instead of being able to get injured and lose it) or if I’m already running Agi and/or other scourge hooks.
Otherwise for m1 killers I’ll usually just use Sloppy.
yeah ive been playin it on billy since this comment and its pretty good. thanks for the advice.

@RaSavage42 said:
Well... for Killers like Nurse whom can't get many M1 hits GOP is better
But M1 Killers Sloppy is better
Then again if we are comparing these 2 perks then
Sloppy only slows down healing while GOP applies Gen slowdown to Survivors that heal
Yeah but on the reverse case you can apply sloppy then move onto the next survivor. And GOP requires scourge hooks. So i feel comparing them both have their advantages. But yeah i see the first part.

...why would they remove it?
Nurse, Hag, Wraith, Artist, and Spirit are all original characters, and all abide by the rules of how powers are given in the Entity's Realm (namely, usually involving the Spirit World). Nemesis summons zombies from RE2 and RE3 (remakes), who can famously be blinded by a flash grenade.
Removing the interaction not only wouldn't make any sense, but would also directly violate some of the easiest lore-friendly gameplay it's perhaps possible to have.
can't victor be blinded?

@Pulsar said:
I'd rather go against DH, especially now lol
No Exhaustion perks during the first chase? Easily baited out on the 2nd chase? Can't do that with SB
Me as wraith or billy who just chases through it. But as m1 killer i just bait the leave into a double back or just change targets.

Hes amazing and with overheat basically gone i can't complain.
@Bardon said:
The overheat isn't as bad as it was but it was never needed in the first place.
What I'd really love is A) a PROPER addon update - some of his are the absolute worst in the game. Seriously. An addon that makes you charge the chainsaw marginally faster *after being blinded*. An Iri that makes your chainsaw silent - but only for those outside your terror radius. The list goes on.
This guy basically has it. Though ill disagree on the iri its probably one of his better ones. Silent saw with undetectable has gotten me so much downs lol. But yeah the flashlight one. And some others really need fixes.

I don't play him, but I've seen so many more people playing him including some ex Billy mains and they've been some of the most fun games I've had since literally patch 4.2.0. Ran from one guy so long I managed to convince him to just 1v1 me at shack during EGC and was laughing maniacally the entire time (according to the friend I was playing with, it was "minorly unhinged").
If this keeps up, there's no way it can't be a net positive.
Yeah ive had a few games like that where its the last 2 survivors and me and one of the survivors just 1v1 for a few minutes. So nice.

Ah yes, the survivor exclusive behavior that a certain other side never exhibits. Classic.
Idk i can play 5 games where i don't get a single killer dc. But if one of my survivor teammates/ if i down a survivor to fast with even someone agreed to be low tier like billy. Its the fastest leave in the west. (But ik ik 4 survivors 1 killer so you'll always pretty much see a survivor leaver more than a killer) i can just see the stigma.

I had a double dc as billy...im so proud...he's dc worthy now.

Oh yeah I forgot the pop change. Qell, either way I don't see the value of pain resonance much tbh
So for comparison. Say you got a pop per gen and each gen was at 89 charges 20% of current
89x.2=17.8 (dbd rounds down)
17x5=85 charges.
Pain res if pop was any lower than 89 charges we were using for comparison (which it goes down like a rock because of current) 3 hooks would beat it out.
But we'll do the whole 12 hooks for a fun thing to.
89x.2=17
17x12=204 max charges that pop can remove in a given game.
2x as much as pain res with 4 hooks. (Feel free to fix math if i messed up somewhere) but yes rng with scourges can be a factor ofc. Personally i always get the 4 eventually. It has some value i feel depending on what ya run with it. Pop just doesn't seem to hold up much anymore.

To be clear, I'm not saying it's useless. I'm saying it's not a great option. Yes it can work but I personally prefer perks with consistency rather than situational ones that can be amazing in certain circumstances(just kinda my overall attitude in games in general).
I'd rather run something like Pop goes the weasel where I can get several triggers with much less conditions in place. With pop I know I can get 20% regression several times over in a game while pain resonance I get one shot on each survivor on specific hooks hoping that I hook when a gen has 25% progress completed. The 5% difference (and without a kick) doesn't feel worth it to me at least when I can control what gens get regressed and I can trigger it several times over
Well don't forget pop and pain res are different now. Pain res is 25% of total progress. Pop is 20% of current. So youll never get even close to pain res because of current vs total. If a gens at 40 charges itll take off 8 charges. While pain res will take 25.
-
@FFirebrandd said:

New Pain Res is beyond inconsistent. Sure 25% total regression sounds good on paper, but what happens if you activate it when no gen has more than 5%? You just used 25% of your tokens for next to no gain. No thanks. I'll pass.
No Way Out isn't gen defense. It's a good perk but that's just... flat out not what it does.
Corrupt is still good but it isn't and never has been enough gen defense on its own.
Surge/Jolt has always been just kind of alright. The fact that it's now one of the best with only minor qol buffs is honestly pretty telling as to the overall state of gen defense.
Thana with its whole 2% slowdown per survivor unless you get all 4? Really? That is borderline useless on anyone not named Legion or Plague and it's a bit questionable on them.
Discordance is an info perk, not a gen defense perk.
True some of them arent gen defense but i also don't consider all gens being completed the end of the game. Theres an entire phase afterword. So even if they rush the first, stuff like no way out is good. Pain res its very rare to get no value since survivors are apparently always on gens you should be chunking off 25% fairly consistently. Thana was just a suggestion with people saying "they just won't heal". I still think of discordance kinda gen defense. Corrupt at least gives a fighting chance to killers like myers. Ive gotten some pretty good results with pain res no way out deadlock shadowborne on myers. If shadowborne was base thatd be corrupt. *cries in motion sickness* lol. Its especially good enough on high mobility like billy rn. (15 games so far)

Dead Man's Switch only really works for killers with high mobility or range.
Deadlock is on a licensed killer and has not appeared in the Shrine even once, making it not an option for a lot of players.
Grim Embrace has never been good.
The options you've put forward are not good options.
New pain res can remove an entire gen if you split pressure (so in all technicality it adds a entire gen on its own) no way out also adds a gen basically and you can literally fufill it and pain res at the same time. Corrupt for killers with slow start up. Surge for down explosions to regress multiple gens at once. Thana with the new slow heals to force a lose-lose. Discordance to interrupt multiple survivors at once. Honestly you can make a case for a lot of perks.

But it still wouldn't be used for that. It would still be first and foremost used for camping.
I don't really know since even as a camp perk its mediocre. If the effect of adding was good enough i could see more people use it for stealth builds than as a camp tool. I don't really know. Like sure insidious bubba and stuff but then i could see billys using it with silent saw. Huntress for wooden fox build. Wesker for stealth wesker. Demo for stealth demo. Ect. But never know i guess.
-
@James4125 said:
It doesn't need a secondary effect so much as a completely new primary effect. Any new effects it's given otherwise will just make it a camping perk with extra steps.
I mean with this if youd want to get the most benefit from it youd have to be moving as your not gonna get value from something like tinkerer or stealth huntress or stealth demo if your not running around getting the jump on people. Sure you could stand still for the 1st effect but then your getting nothing from your other undetectable perks/addons. But yeah i could see changing its primary like i said in the future.
-
@Ghouled_Mojo said:
Someone on here mentioned a while back that it should get the lethal pursuer treatment and give other stealth perks an additional two secs of stealth time. It’s not a bad idea or bad place to start
Yeah adding on stealth to effects could honestly raise it a bit. Theyd probably have to fix its first effect as well in the future but at least itd be a good starting point to give it a LP treatment.

Dead Hard you needed to be one hit from down, and pull off a .5 second window during a 2nd hit. Compared to finding a window or pallet, running up a slight hill, and 99ing (or just walking everywhere) It's risk/reward. If people fear Dead Hard so much, why now wouldn't the killer just tunnel the unhooked survivor? The others can't Dead Hard because they haven't been hooked yet. I'm just not a fan. Did you read my suggestion? I'm curious on your opinion about it.
Im fine with any suggestion that keeps a earn mechanic to it. I also like that the first chase will not have it in play. Since the first chase can decide the game. So anything that keeps that design. Because when i need to hook to get starting pressure i can't be standing behind the survivor nodding my head for 5 seconds waiting for it. Already invested to much time into the chase already and got a injure to let it go. Either version is honestly fine by me. Yours or current.
-
@Adagio_InDminor said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3405596#Comment_3405596
Anti-tunnel? The killer can hit you right off the hook which puts you in deep wound unable to use it. If he then downs you, whoops there goes one of your two attempts to use a perk during the match. It's almost promoting tunneling "just in case"
Full control with little drawback? Like Lithe? Balanced? 99ing Sprint Burst? I'm not saying Dead Hard didn't need to be re-worked but your suggestions here aren't valid reasons to support it. At least in my proposal above I'm still limiting how much it appears in the match, and forcing people to play/progress the game to "earn" it's use.
Lithe needs a window. Sprint burst you can't be running and manage the 99. Balanced landing you need a fall. Dead hard? You needed to be injured. That was its stipulation for the longest time. You needed to play the game lol. It was really the only one that you had complete control imo. Hell even overcome you have to plan when the killer hits you and if they hit you sooner than you expected half of the burst can be lost. And with the nerf to the hit burst it gives less of a boost now. Dead hard? Didn't matter the map. You didn't have to manage it. You just used it. Those are just my reasons for it having a earn mechanic in the first place.
-
It was very called for. The fact survivors die in chase so fast now prove that fact enough. They were used to the 3rd health state to confirm a pallet or loop. The 1st chase of each survivor dead hard became a non factor. Which makes chases feel immensely better. Now you can use it as a anti tunnel to that doesn't deactivate when doing gens. But it will never pop up in the first chases. (Which pretty much can decide the game) as time goes on people will learn new strategies. Dead hard after its rework became the perk which you had full control with little drawback when it was available. Why run any other exhaustion?
-

They've all but deleted the overheat, which is good. Now if they could do a pass on map asset collision, he'd be golden.
Also the fact he has a purple that requires overheat lol. But yeah his addons and map collision i wouldn't see much issue. Even the headbobbing and looking down aint the worst with shadowborne at least.

They're both also pretty cheap so you could run those every match. I am not one to rely on Add-ons, I use them but only if I know that a base power is strong enough.
As for Billy, I don't think his base stats are good enough, but that might be from a curving perspective. For zoning, his Chainsaw became siginificantly better to use.
Yeah not all billys obviously can do the curve. Old billy base was nice because even without knowing how to curve his zone and mobility were good for the time. Probably aged now but hell im on a nostalgia trip with just zoning a survivor with a revved saw lol. I zoom, find a survivor, get menacingly closer with a long revved saw. Down, hook, and repeat.

@MrDardon said:

I didn't test it yet, but Punctured Muffler only increases the heat degeneration while not using the Chainsaw, so it doesn't do anything on revving.
But you're right, Engravings reduce heat generation. So let's try Air Filter + Doom Engravings 😅
Yeah idk which would be better air filter or yellow Engraving lowering chainsaw heat gained. (So in this case double engravings vs air filter doom engraving) but with the 2 you mentioned air filter and punctured muffler i feel you get pretty close to old base billy since no engravings to slow down your saw. And overheat has a bigger limit and quicker cool. So its probably my favorite fn. Because i loved old billy. If they make the saw not destroy my ears i would find it perfect for now since i don't see his animations or anything else being fixed anytime soon.
-
So what perks is she gonna hold a 3 gen with causing the gens to regress to nothing even with stuff like prove thyself and resilence running around? As well as the drones being easier to disable now. Im interested to see your answer?
-
Honestly i played around 10 games of billy yesterday with the basically destroyed overheat. Running pain res,shadowborne,dms, no way out. With the slower heals across the board it made m1s more consistent. I did have a lot of toolboxes but gens didn't seem much faster. Because before youd run them with CoH and stuff like deadhard to inflate the chases. Thats not a option because of healing being mostly altruistic now and dead hard finally i think got its due. Pain res and no way out basically also can add 1 gen each. Im all for a passive meta over a kick for 50 years meta. (Kinda why i liked ruin undying) but the good thing with this is it can't be destroyed. (Dms can be countered so you could run like deadlock if ya wanted)
-
@MrMori said:
That's cool but what exactly is the point of overheat now? Wasn't it added to prevent facecamping? While now it punishes traversing the map. Kinda weird ngl.
They just i feel basically acknowledge its a dumb mechanic in every way so they wanna make it "a non factor" because reverting the mechanic i guess is hard. And honestly even the map traversal part isnt that effective since it normally fully cools by the time im ready to saw again. (Especially with cooldown and bigger heat limit addons or engravings) so the mechanics...dead. Good.
Also side note if you wanted to camp back then and still now theres better options then billy. (Bubba wearing his crown) so as a anti camp mechanic its fairly bad as well.
-
@MrDardon said:
Now use Junkyard Air Filter + Punctured Muffler and you obliterated the overheat mechanic xD
Don't both engravings give more in the long run? Since they lower heat generation. (Edit:nvm tested if holy lol)
-
tldw: Its 1 minute 30 seconds to overheat if you just hold it. Lol.
-
Yeah ive been running it, dms, and no way out to go for chases! Its actually a lot of fun! It and no way out can add 2 more gens worth of time basically so it allows for some more ballsy plays throughout the game.

I’d rather save my tokens for late game, so the unhooked survivor would be a much more appropriate target for pressure.
If you want it to be useless till the end be my guest. Enjoy your 1 time proc then you get nothing till you change targets. Unlike before were you could just spam it by forcing trades,camps, and tunnels.
-
They gave him hard backrevving and rev camping basically especially with both engravings reducing heat. But with the trade off of lowering his map traversal. But he can also drift king again so thats a good change. So it is really a give and take. I have to really play with how much "slightly" changes my ability to move across map and use my saw again. In the ptb it looked pretty bad but ill keep a open mind. It definitely gives billy more options.

All this change does is encourage gen rushing because healing takes too much time to bother with
At most people will heal at hook with we’ll make it but otherwise nobody will bother
Get ready for more toolboxes and PT’s
The big 3 might be more effective though as one of your counters to especially spirit is to not deal with her while injured if you can help it. And nurse your friend cant run up behind her with a item to stall her advances. I can expect survivors choosing not to heal against any of them to struggle. Even someone like wraith can get better downs through hit and run once healings out of the picture. Same for obviously nurse and blight. Any killer which having 2 health states was your only option to survive longer than a few seconds.

Huh so you can be called a tunneler even though you hooked 2 other people before chasing the person again. Never thought of that before. They did not give any definite values but Shadowborn appears to resolve their issue, there is no reason to assume they want anything more. And yes, I believe that a slider as narrow as 87-102 might be enough.
Your post was also unclear, it made you seem opposed to any FOV increases rather than just radical ones, which is why I gave the example of Shadowborn.
102 doesnt trigger motion sickness for me. Its a slippery slope since its different for each person. Overdo it and other people get sick. Underdo it (now) and people like me can't play without SB. So slider can let you get that perfect amount where there's no problems that can vary person to person. Also would allow shadowborne to get a new affect.
-
@Emeal said:
FOV is literally tied to game balance with the direction a Killer is looking, how do you propose such a change going through easily?
You probably picked the worst game to play when asking for this to be added imo.
Because i have a way to play the game through my disability with shadowborne. Im willing to stick with it if necessary. But with other perks like spinechill to push accessibility into the basekit its worth a shot to ask if i can be allowed to play without shadowborne? (Also FOVs impact is very small in this game and can actually advantage both sides through flashlight angles and countering 360s)

Friend, there is quite literally a penalty for disconnecting. Nobody is being rewarded. Over the years we've changed frustrating perks and mechanics for both sides, and disconnecting doesn't play nearly as much of a role in those decisions are you imply.
That said, Killers disconnect too. You may not see it as often since you are the only Killer in your match, but it happens more often than you might think.
It can be pseudo rewarding if you think the trade off is worth it enough i guess to deny perks or just not play out a doomed match. One pain res that will stop the last gen pop? Dc on down. Killer opens the door when your on the ground? Bloodwarden incoming. So dc in arms or on ground. Its a little petty for survivors to do but ive seen it and had it done to me. Also if its a skull merchant hard 3 gening at the beggining of the match with the kick duo some people will just...take the 5 minutes. Not worth the hour i guess.
-
Give shadowborne a additional affect or just add it to the basekit...will be my wish for every one.
-
Personally i never employee these strategies. Survivors still dc and kill themselves on hook if they get mindgamed. And their DH fails them. Ill just go lighter on the rest. Camping and tunneling are strategies. So is 3 gening. You are completly in your power to do them. Survivors can react how they want. But i don't think something like a "skull merchant and knight can guaranteed make the server collapse consistently" should be a thing in this game. Noone wants a 60 minute game. Wouldn't be surprised if overcharge call of brine get changed for the betterment of the gamestate. The basekit bt can be played around, i haven't hit a basekit bt in like weeks since i just go after the unhooker. The hud was just a qol change since swf has so much easy communication solo doesn't. Putting them a bit closer together makes a better balance.
-
yeah i noticed this "wait if i just put the drone on the opposite verticality can i make them go out of their way to disarm it to do a gen" so i would just keep placing drones on the opposite floor. Was the most annoying thing for the survivors to do. i stopped playing skull merchant right after.
