Gonna be honest, this feature shouldn't have been added. It's basically in beta and there are so many ways they could've gone with the idea on day 1. But right now it just comes off as an extremely lazy cash grab for Chucky skins. I realize BHVR wants to make money and that's fine.. but even that is a failure in its current implementation.
Just think, we could retroactively have banners and badges for original character skins we've bought, and art like that doesn't take that long to make. Icons for licensed skins would be amazing as well, or even badges/banners for achieving things.. like prestiging characters enough times, having a certain devotion level, achieving adepts, etc. There are so many ways to go about it.. but we get nothing on release unless you buy a Chucky skin lol.
I suggest taking it out of the game and waiting until it's more polished. It's better to not have the feature in the game than to disappoint people with lost potential

This is still a bug, no idea what triggers it. Couldn't find any other posts about it than this one. I've had it happen 2-3 times in the past few months. Super rare but happens

Nah, it should be hidden for everyone
Just like rank wasn't tied to skill, prestige is exactly the same and shouldn't be shown to anyone.
It's funny though seeing that BHVR repeats every time the same "mistakes" when there is a chance
It's more about playtime than skill. Grades/ranks were tied to resets which would set them back, meaning if someone was a low grade then it could mean they're experienced but just haven't played in a while. Prestige levels have no such thing, so if someone isn't above P0 there's a decent chance theyre fairly new or don't have a big selection of perks. I personally don't think they'll remove it.. at least for a while because they were using prestige levels as a way to encourage people to grind for bragging rights. But I also feel like those bragging rights have less meaning to a killer than a survivor, and killers will just tunnel people that they recognize as having a low amount of playtime

Eh, I feel like the more we go forward, the less this is going to hold
Don't get me wrong, I too judge my killer lobbies based on the prestige level of survivors, I just think that it's going to be a lot harder to be accurate with the prediction later on
I do think prestige levels should be hidden from the killer though, just not from other survivors. If there's 2 people with no prestige while the other 2 are p9+, there's a chance the killer targets the survivors with no prestige which isn't really fair, but I also can't blame the killers for doing it because of the ######### way it's set up

But I'll almost always dodge people that are p0 cuz they likely haven't put much time into the game and probably don't have access to many perks, especially when they have default cosmetics.
This is going to mean nothing once a new character gets released
You can say that if you see a "base" game survivor being P0, they are most likely to be inexperienced, but in all other cases you are only making big assumptions
Well yeah, that situation is completely different. I'm not gonna dodge all Rebecca and Adas when the new DLC is out lol. But using that as a basis for any characters that have been out for a long time is more like an educated guess (which tends to be right most of the time). The only other exceptions I can think of might be if someone is doing a tome challenge or a daily ritual, but that tends to be rare.
-
I hope they don't hide prestige levels. Having prestige 20+ or whatever still isn't an indication of skill or whatever (I had a p19 Steve in my game tonight that DCd on first hook against a terrible Blight). But I'll almost always dodge people that are p0 cuz they likely haven't put much time into the game and probably don't have access to many perks, especially when they have default cosmetics.
-
I kinda like the half bra Kate top just cuz of how ridiculous it looks lmao, so I bought it. I also bought the Feng and Yun Jin full outfits with shards so I can't really complain
-
Ruin and Pop aren't used much anymore, but other than that the meta is basically the same. It's even closer to how it used to be now that they brought back the Pain Resonance + DMS combo which a lot of people are using again lol. The survivor meta was mostly changed, but the killer meta wasn't.

6 was not a flop at all, it sold stupidly well for the time, it was just rated poorly (Its not a bad game on its own merits, just not a very good RE game)
I'm not saying it's a bad game, I actually liked it a lot for what it was, but it's nearly forgotten in time already and no one suggests playing it whenever RE is brought up which is why it's considered a flop.
I personally think it's a great co-op game, but if people consider it a bad RE game then it's pretty much a flop and there's a low chance anything will be added from it (except for maybe costumes for Leon and Ada if we're lucky)
-
It was always meant to be a meme rather than a serious VN/dating sim. If it wasn't obvious already, you'd notice if you checked what the last game the dev made was : I Love You Colonel Sanders (the KFC VN).
I wasn't expecting much honestly
-
I really don't think licenses are an issue cuz the entire RE series is owned by Capcom , but they likely go with whatever's the most recognizable or popular, so RE2R/3R/4/5. 6 flopped and I feel like 7 and 8 are too new to be iconic.
I'd love to have an adult Sherry skin though, she's one of my favorite playable characters in the games
-
I appreciate that they're fixing RPD.. but it should've been fixed a year ago lol. Part of me feels like we could've had a new RE map by now if they had fixed the old one a lot sooner.
-
The names have to be reported through the platform. Only steam/psn/Xbox/etc can really do anything about it and they'll probably only take reports seriously if the name is truly offensive.
I don't think BHVR can do anything about it because they have no control over what people set their name as
-
I get why you care and if it happened to me I'd probably be frustrated too, but in the end it's just a twitch chat. You weren't banned from anything truly important
-
I get why people think that daily rituals are like this to get you to play the opposite role of what you're used to.. but personally I think it's just really old/outdated game design that they never got around to changing
Deathgarden (another BHVR game) had the perfect system for daily rituals and it should've migrated over to DBD but never did. It's a simple fix, but I think they're focused on other things and daily rituals has never been one of them.
-
48k because all of the good outfits have been cells only lately. If the new upcoming outfits cost shards I'll probably spend them though
-
I have no idea how they manage to get away with screwing up faces for licensed characters for so long. If I were Capcom I'd be pissed and demand they fix it lol. Seriously, how did they manage to make Quentin a goblin for years, and then screw up Cybil and Claire so badly? Then there's Nancy's face which they managed to mess up after the face rework too..
-
@mustdogen said:
They buff Bt, rework a new op NT tunnel perk, make an in game bt and speed boost.
Why you stillcomplaing?
Buffing BT actually makes tunneling easier, because no one uses BT anymore since a mini version of it became basekit. 5 seconds is easier to wait out, so the only way you're less likely to get tunneled is by running OTR
-
They aren't doing it to manipulate statistics or convince the devs to revert the patch. If that was anyone's goal, there's a far easier way to get the devs to rebalance the game.. and that's to review bomb the game on steam. It's happened before and it was effective, but it's not happening this time so I don't think that's their goal. They just really dislike the update, nothing more to it.

@jesterkind said:
Did people really run that perk often before, though?
I can only speak anecdotally, but in both my killer and survivor games pre-patch it only very rarely made an appearance- nowhere near as often as BBQ did. If survivors aren't saving their teammates from the hook now, I don't think WGLF is really affecting that decision either way.
(Though I am of course in favour of more BP gains, I just don't think you should feel forced to run one specific perk for BP gains)
It was the survivor version of BBQ so yes. I ran it in all of my builds since it was the only way to get a halfway decent amount of BP. It was also (and still is) a useful perk in SWF. It was probably used less in solo queue
-
I was playing trapper earlier and thought the opposite. It felt like I had a lot of breathing room and didn't even need to run much slowdown in my build to play him effectively. Before patch, the few times I would play him I'd feel like I needed corrupt intervention on him. After the patch, that was no longer necessary and I was getting back to back 4ks.
I can't agree with the OP at all.. low tier killers are much easier to play after the patch, I still even have people DC against me when I play low tier killers which is kinda sad.
-
It was disabled because a lot of people lost progress after merging. Probably better that it's disabled currently if it became that big of an issue
-
There was a very long period of time (years) where tunneling and camping wasn't the meta. Yes it will still probably always be a thing, but BHVR can definitely make changes to the game that reduce the frequency back to where it's an acceptable level again. It only became meta about a year ago

When you compare Pharmacy to Circle of Healing, Self-Care & Botany and Inner Strength, then yes, it's useless. You don't use the worse perk to play with when you are wanting to win a game, you choose the best perk. Sure you can use it when you are messing around but it's not the optimal healing perk to use and the changing it around didn't do anything to improve it.
Pharmacy is by far, not the best perk and the rearranging of some abilities the perk has didn't improve it.
Inner healings only advantage over Pharmacy is if it's used in mid chase, but that requires the killer to not find you and usually requires quick and quiet to pull it off consistently. Otherwise I think it's actually worse due to the amount of time wasted cleansing a totem.. and you're screwing over anyone using boon perks by cleansing. I think it's a bad example because most people stopped using it when boons were added.
Self care is another awful example. Yes, if you combine self care with botany then it's an ok perk, but on its own it's definitely worse than pharmacy. Pharmacy is meant to be a perk that doesn't need to synergize with anything else to be used effectively. Self care requires another perk to even be usable.
The only perk on your list that I'd say is better is CoH. But still, Pharmacy is a different kind of usage and most people that are using it want to keep the green medkit for later healing builds. I swear everyone that's posted about pharmacy and botany being such big "nerfs" or useless haven't actually used the new versions of the perks extensively. Pharmacy was nerfed in such a minor way that I wouldn't really call it a nerf due to the new benefit it gives, and while there is a big nerf to botany, the buff given to it is still big enough that it can be used very effectively in several different builds. The only truly useless perk that no one is gonna use is calm spirit
-
@Viskod said:

I already said I've never used Calm Spirit.
Pharmacy is definitely not useless. Now I've had matches where I couldn't get much of a benefit out of it because you've got that one person in the group that just has to open every single chest one after the other but there's nothing you can do about that.
But if I bring it I bring a coin to add a chest and I always get a med kit when I need one. It's nice to have in your pocket when you're not playing with friends and you can't rely on coordinating for a heal.
I strongly believe the people that say pharmacy is useless or worse than before haven't actually played extensively with the new pharmacy. It's far from useless. I'm not saying that it's meta or an amazing perk, but it's good enough that I've been using it in my loadout for the last 20 matches or so and I see benefits from it in almost every match. The only thing I wish they'd change is maybe add a short range aura effect, similar to plunderers but not quite as long.. cuz I'm terrible at finding chests on some maps (mostly indoor).
Before the update I would only bring pharmacy if I want to stock up on green medkits so I can use them later with full healing builds. Now after the patch? I use it as a way to stock up on medkits like before, but now I use it as an actual healing perk and on average get 2-3 heals from it per game without coins. It's way more viable than it was before.
-
I wouldn't say pharmacy is really nerfed unless you're using it very situationally. If you were only using it for the chest speed/noise bonuses then yes it's a nerf, but the only halfway decent reason to use it for that alone is if you were combining it with plunderers. I think the use of the perk changed rather than it being nerfed, because plunderers + pharmacy builds weren't very common, and I've never seen anyone use pharmacy to hide from the killer while opening a chest.
I've been using it a lot since the update and I've been really enjoying it. Botany I think is still useful in combination with 2 medkit charge addons, built to last, or no medkit and combining with CoH. I prefer old botany but it still has decent uses. Calm Spirit is just useless.. it was useless before and made even more useless now, it needs to be reworked.
While I think calm spirit is still absolute garbage, I think botany and pharmacy are still good perks after the changes. It's just that the intended usage of the perks changed that throws people off. If you're using them the same as before the update you're 100% going to be disappointed

The new Prestige system is horrible. So many bloodpoints wasted for such crap. Before when prestiging, you got offered better items on the Blood web and less brown trash.
Now you get brown trash for 25 levels until you see a decent item or two, but you hit 50 and get to do it all over again wading through useless item after useless item. Before, you just needed to prestige 3 times to get the bloody clothes cosmetics, now you have to prestige 6 times for them.
It's actually a longer, more tedious grind (and they took away Blood point bonuses of BBQ and WGLF), they just gift-wrapped it in lies like usual lol.
Yeah, and this is why people should stop prestiging past p10. I say p10 because the max conversation capped at p9 and you could get to p10 at the cost of one bloodweb and 20k. But anything after that is just a complete waste of BP. Not even worth it for bragging rights. Wait until BHVR fixes the grind for items/addons so that you'll actually get something for the bloodpoints you've spent, Don't encourage this broken new prestige system by wasting millions of BP and gaining nothing
-
Eh, I already came across my first hacker in one of my lobbies yesterday. P100 Steve named Nicki Minaj. I instantly dodged that lobby lol. Figured it'd happen eventually. I just feel like it's so pointless to prestige after P9 right now until they fix the grind for items/addons
-
Wait until you max out every character and just want items/addons. That's when the real grind begins. It'll cost many millions of bloodpoints just to get a few rare items/addons lol. I know they addressed that something will be done about it in a future patch but damn that's something that they really overlooked. Good luck for those that don't have items stocked up, I wish I grinded more for them on killers before the update
-
This is why I haven't bothered leveling past prestige 10. To even get the entire roster from p9 to p10 (after conversion) it takes more than 3 mil bloodpoints because the level 50 bloodwebs got reset.. I don't want to waste tons of BP just to get good items/addons. I'll wait until BHVR improves the bloodweb system
-
Epic and Stadia are desperate to get people to use their platforms so I imagine BHVR had no issues at all working with them.
Sony, MS, and Nintendo however.. they're in no need for more people to switch to their platforms so I'm guessing they're greedier. I'm still confused why Switch progression got halted though, they were even advertising the ability to connect your Nintendo account on the BHVR account site at one point so there was obviously a lot of progress made
-
It's because no one really uses it and it only potentially becomes useful late game (or mid game if you're really lucky). A green medkit with healing perks like desperate measures or botany mixed with built to last is a far superior build, it just sucks that botany doesn't work as well with it anymore and it requires a full loadout compared to 1 perk slot. I'd still rather run all of that compared to autodidact though. You also potentially throw the game if you don't have any stacks yet and heal someone at a bad time. It's a bad perk that needs to be buffed IMO

The characters are, not the outfits
-
If I see someone with no prestige level and default cosmetics.. I'm just gonna assume they're new, so I get why they'd dodge. Had a claudette that absolutely shouldn't have been matched with me, no prestige and default cosmetics.. they were new. Sometimes assumptions are correct. Most of the people I've been matched with are P9-10, a few being P3, and a couple being P0. Both of the P0s were new with default cosmetics.
-

Wait i just prestiged 1 them for no reason????
Yep, the only reason to prestige them were for the perk charms or bloody cosmetics. It's a waste for the first 3 prestiges.
-
@TheArbiter said:
Its also worth noting that they teased the AoT cosmetics hard last week which would indicate to me a release for this week
They teased the charms, not the actual outfits. They keep teasing really small things, like the AoT charms or the rabbit (tome) today which is making me think it'll be next week. I wouldn't mind it being tomorrow, I'd just expect bigger teasers if it's gonna be that soon

That's what I did. I think I'm down to 384 on him. I don't consider it a mistake though, he's really fun to play.

I've almost prestiged the whole roster of survivors. Have they announced what the bonus is going to be yet? I know we get some silly portrait, but I want to know what the bonus is going to be, is it auric cells? Shards would be kind of lame, but I can understand if they want to go cheap.
I don't think there is going to be any kind of bonus. The portraits are the reward, nothing more.
Also I decided to get everyone that I can to prestige 1 on my console account since I don't play much on there, unless the character has close to 120 perk tiers. If your goal is to reach P3 after the update, 120 perk tiers will get you there after paying the 20k fee to prestige again (since you'll be level 50 and keep your levels)

I made it up.
But the unofficial answer is, PTB usually comes 3 weeks before live servers unless otherwise specified, and this has held true for the last few patches too.
6.0.0 PTB/Release: May 17/June 7. 3 weeks.
5.7.0 PTB/Release: April 5/April 27. 3 weeks.
5.6.0 PTB/Release: Feb 15/March 8. 3 weeks.
So we're holding our hopes high for it next week, unless there's more changes they want to make. They said they would change perks after release too, so I'm sure they'll just push it out and then make changes later rather than to wait another week.
There's the chance it gets delayed for another week because the prestige system is something they shouldn't wanna screw up. The prestige system also isn't something they can fix after the update goes live without reverting everyone's progress. Perks they can easily change afterward though. It's likely the biggest update they've done so I'm hoping they try to get as much right as they can before releasing it
-
I'd believe 62, but not 88. At 62 that person probably has at least 12k-15k hours.
-
@OutbreakJack said:
The highest I've ever seen was 26 and the person had roughly 10k hours.
62 devotion is intervention worthy.
That doesn't sound right. I have 10k hours and have devotion 41. Maybe most of their hours were spent idling and not playing
-
I saw some early gameplay footage of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and it looked really really bad. It was pretty early footage though so who knows, maybe it'll get better. I think the best options for currently active/updated games are VHS and Evil Dead. It's a shame that the queue times are screwed if you're on the west coast for evil dead though, if that never gets fixed the game probably won't last long
-

Dev is just there to give yourself an idea of how much youve played the game. There is really no way to increase the amount youve got except just time played. Im sure there is someone out there siting on 20 dev right now lol and that would be sad. The problem with rewarding this leveling system like that is it would encourage more (null botting) or whatever its called where you do nothing but have the bot join a match and do nothing but sit there. Not that bots are ever encouraged i just think any reward thats obtained from lvls might encourage more people to try that and that would not be healthy for the game at all. thats just my 2 cents
20 devotion isn't much. I think most big streamers or long term players that have stuck around since the game launched have at least 30. I've been playing regularly for 6 years and have 40 devotion lol. It's sad but I don't really expect anything out of it. The issues you talk about are also real, I think a small bonus for having devotion would be good and make it so people don't farm for it. A small increase to the BP cap (like 50k-100k per devotion), an extra shard bonus (maybe 2k per?), hell even 1 million bloodpoints wouldn't be bad. I think most of us would be happy to get literally anything for devotion levels. It's just kind of a pointless number as it is now because anyone can check their hours played on most platforms so devotion is a bit redundant.

Do characters also keep their level when the catch-up prestiges are applied? Going for P0 lvl 50 to P3 lvl 50 for example or are they gonna reset to level 1 (P3 lvl 1)?
Yes, they keep their level. At least they did in the PTB
-
I used to compete all of them but got lazy with the SAW tome and never went back to finish it, but that was because I was doing that rift on both my PC account and PSN account so I kinda got burned out after finishing the rift twice, plus it's no longer necessary to finish most of the challenges since the rift fragment grind got reduced a while ago.

I don't need my account on any other platform than steam, i linked it just to get some shards from my epic games account lol. I didn't think it would literally erase my progress later if i unlinked it. since it seems like after an unlink I'll loose everything I'm just gonna stick with my bhvr account.
And I've read some stuff about the system and it seems to save your bp,shards and cells but apparently not levels of characters and your overall level?
I don't understand this since this is also progression just like bp and shards.
Yeah it's complicated. I've never heard of a success story where someone unlinks knowing the consequences and is satisfied with it so I usually tell people to avoid doing so.
Honestly the cross progression system is so fragile to begin with I wouldn't mess with it lol. I can't even login anymore (on any browser, even if I delete cookies). I think something got messed up when they implemented new features recently. Not that I need to login, I've already got all 3 platforms linked.. but it's just weird that I don't even have the option to log in anymore
-
It's not worth it, the consequence for unlinking is too big. Why do you want to unlink accounts? Just wondering. I've never heard a positive story about unlinking.. at best it works as intended and you won't lose much, at worst you'll lose more than you thought you would. I'd just avoid unlinking entirely
