Killers: "Ruin is cleansed instantly every game and high ranks dont miss skillchecks"
Same Killers: "You killed Ruin, it was the only good perk to slow down gens. You broke the game!".
Double standards at its best.
Ruin was only good vs bad survivors and most are bad against good survivors gens will be done quickly. The "data" won't mean (bad word) anyway given this dev teams incompetence

Dude this is the 37th post you make about the ruin change, it’s going through, they’ll see how it plays then do what’s necessary to help killers that are struggling or all killers at the same time, end of story .
If I actually trusted bhvr I would believe this but I don't

Wrong. For each other survivor working on the same gen you get a 10% speed penalty. More than 2 people working on the same gen is a waste of time.
1 person 80 sec
2 people 44 sec
3 people 33 sec
4 people 28 sec
Do your research before misinforming people.
Hey man I was just guessing and those speeds aren't counting toolboxes or prove thy self. Anyway still too fast unless you are a total potato and can't hit skill checks...

They hear the community but there are many different voices they have to listen to. Gens are done quickly right? But in their own stats it shows Killers are winning a lot of their games so they're probably getting mixed results. By nerfing Ruin they might get a better idea on how they think they should balance the game after getting new results.
IMO its the maps. A lot of them are too big for the less mobile Killers and some structures are way too strong to deal with. If they can find an alternative solution that's good with me but I'd like to see the meta game change, I'm sick of seeing the same builds every game.
Cutting off your nose to spite your face is a not a good reaction to any issue and bhvr is doing that presently. They have don significant damage to themselves through their reactions to the ruin nerf without asking why it is used in the first place.

Like I have said before
Its not Gen Speed, who wants to sit on a generator for more than 80 seconds?
Its map design, this game has horrid map design
Its complete rng with tiles which actually is hurting the game the maps are complete rng.
-
I wish I had a gen speed chart I know the normal gen speed is like 80 seconds or so. And with 4 survivors its around 20 seconds with 4 survivors.

I’ll answer that for you because they won’t.
”we will look into it, we will go by our stats”
In layman’s terms...
no we won’t, now time to buff survivors :))
I mean the ruin nerf is basically taking the skill out of survivor besides looping.
-
Its the devs own fault their game relies heavily on rng which makes rank mean nothing again. Their maps are rng making game quality very from ok to just bad like haddonfun killers rarely do well on it and the huge maps. They have no actual way of testing player skill as emblems are rng dependent and rank 1 is just a player putting in the hours of play to get there. Which also affects matchmaking because without the proper system for skill measurement matchmaking becomes nigh impossible to do.
-
So basically even a good killer is gonna struggle without the early game slowdown.
-
It would seem not bhvr can’t design maps for anything and nerfs perks because new players...
-
Indeed they just say (bad word) that survey
-
Stop censoring the memes bhvr they are one of the few good things to come out of this (bad word) show...

BHVR: "Your PTB feedback is very important for us but we dont care and do whatever we want. We know that there is anger and ppl dont like it but we will still implement it regardless on feedback (that is very important for us)"
I’m honestly shocked they think PTB means anything. No one plays them really so the data won’t be accurate but we are talking bhvr here so...

I would not be surprised if they are planning another major change to the game and have used the Ruin change first to take the negativity.
It seems like there is more planned here waiting around the corner..
If you are gonna nerf a major part of a game you don't inflict a gaping wound in the game then say we are working on something. This change was made in a vacuum at best because it clearly hasn't been planned well at all. Maps should of been changed before this and gen speeds should of been changed before this. They say they planned it but its more like they got complaints from baby survivors like the devs themselves and nerfed it.

New killers stick around in this game because if they're matched against new survivors they'll stomp the overwhelming majority of the games. This game is incredibly killer sided when both sides don't know what they're doing.
If matchmaking wasn't so busted then that would be true

I'm going to try to say this as peacefully as possible. When you say the first gens go fast, you are referring to the first 3 gens, which is 60% of a survivors objective. In this time the killer can get 1 or 2 hooks. In comparison that is 2 gens left and either 1 survivor on death hook or 2 survivors on second hook.
It is borderline impossible to recover from that, even if all your chases are like 20 - 30 seconds long, survivors can just power through the last 2 gens. To put it simple we cannot kill the survivors at all in just 2 gens. Its just too easy for them to get them done. This is due to so many things getting in the way, mainly map sizes and god buildings/loops. However even if these weren't a problem gens would fly by anyway.
Us killers didn't care that it was passive, what we cared about is that it had pressure at the start of the game. I bet you if it had killer input it would still be used 80% of the time.
This i don't think you are understanding: Old ruin applied pressure EARLY game, when 60% of the survivors objective is being done. We do NOT want a perk (specifically a hex perk) that applies pressure LATE game. That is not what we used ruin for. We needed something to battle the early game and ruin was the only thing we had.
And... please, we honestly don't care about our gatekeeper, that's not why we used it. We used it to prevent 60% of the survivors objective being done in under 90 seconds.
Finally, the fact that you can stand strong against so many complaints doesn't show your confidence, it shows a sign of a massive disconnect between the community and the dev team. And if you think this change will be "good in the long run", then you have HEAVILY misunderstood the core mechanics of dead by daylight and what the community wants.
Great post

Hi!
Just wanted to address one common concern I've seen from the community. "They nerfed Ruin so it wouldn't be hard for new Survivors."
That's not quite what the intention was. This is subtle, but bear with me.
New Ruin is in fact really brutal for new Survivors... because it is insidious. They have no idea what's happening, and they struggle to get gens done at all. That little zap effect when you take your hands off a gen? Barely noticable to a new player who's panicing because of the L3 Terror Radius they are hearing. It's not even noticable that the gen is regressing twice as fast as if the Killer had damaged it.
What we wanted to do was not "make it easy for new players" but "make it less frustrating for new players". In playtests with newer Survivor players, it was 4k with 4 or 5 gens up almost every time. But they didn't hate their time in the game as much because those red skill checks weren't in their faces.
I'm looking forward to playing on the PTB with some of you tomorrow; see you in the Fog!
New ruin will only be slightly usable on the top 4 killers even then killers should just as well not run it because its still a hex and will be gone in seconds. If this is the devs team idea of balance it is very naive and bordering on delusional.
Ruin only ever caused serious issues for bad and new survivors but very good or great survivors popped the gens just as fast with ruin on. That's without bringing in perks that either speed up gen speed like prove thy self and toolboxes. New ruins regression rate will mean nothing if you have either a great toolbox or a perk like prove thy self.
Yes skill checks are annoying but aren't so annoying that is makes the game miserable its just a slight annoyance. With new ruin gens will likely hit record speeds in terms of time done 4 minutes is the time right now or less with perks and toolboxes.
DBD's only remotely skill based parts are some killer powers and skill checks and looping well that is it. Maps are complete rng which can destroy a lot of killers including the top 4 also new ruin requires "pressure" a killer can only be one place at a time and a lot of the maps are huge. Even a good nurse will struggle applying pressure because a killer can only be one place at a time.
This ruin nerf is both illogical and disconnected from DBD's core issues including map design, matchmaking, numerous bugs, micro transactions and developer disconnect. Also I don't expect a fix for the matchmaking as DBD has no way of properly gauging skill and you will hit rank one if you play well not even good just well. Matchmaking is a self inflicted wound because you clearly have no vision for it and can't gauge player skill in a game so rng based. Emblems are dependent on rng largely.
-
None of the nerfed survivor perks are useless though even sc is useful still and DS is still used often.
-
When the changes go live and they will because its clear by their posts they aren't gonna listen the game will suffer or be mortally wounded. Low mobility killers like Huntress will be weaker because of maps and how large they are and badly designed. Ruin change would of been fine if everything else in the game wasn't a band aid fix DBD looks like a mummy with a bunch carebear bandaids as the wrapping...

As if ruin required skill to use lol
Ruin change wouldn't bad if the maps and matchmaking weren't as they are.
-
Thats true they want no skill in it at all.
-
DBD isn’t the type of game that needs a battle pass. It doesn’t have the depth of content for it even with dlc.
-
@BBQnDemogorgon said:
The logic is there for bhvr if you look at the statistics they've given.
Killers are all well above 50% and Ruin had a 40% use rate across all ranks with 80% in red.
If you use that alone changing ruin makes sense.
The devs also never said skill checks are hard they said hitting great ruin skill checks is hard for new players that just picked up DbD.
Souls games are also hard for new players. Bhvr doesn't want to throw new players into a hard situation to overcome they want fun.
So they are saying new players can’t git gud? That’s almost insulting gamers abilities as well besides the patch notes saying survivors suck basically.
-
Emblem system is useless but they depend on it for some reason. You can’t measure any level of skill with it
-
Red ranks will fill up but the game will die slowly because the matchmaking makes rank meaningless. New survivors and killers thrown to the wolves basically it what will happen
-
Nerfing ruin will make games a lot shorter
-
They can't balance 1v4 much less 2v8
-
The devs gotta be aware only "pressure" can be applied with high mobility killers

Matchmaking and ranking should be overhauled entirely.
Anything that would detract from doing that ASAP should be shelved entirely for the time being.
Every other issue, ruin, gens, toolboxes, everything- Matchmaking and making fair experiences for everyone should be their priority. The only reason it wouldn't be, is if they don't know how, or for more....profit driven reasons.
Aren't they still working on dlc? if so thats bad given dbd's current state

It's just a mess, and I doubt it's going to get fixed.... that's why I am thinking about abandoning ship. There has been zero indication the devs care, even a little, about this huge problem.
There ranking change ironically has played a role in this but its really just a combination of no vision and dumb fixes upon fixes.
-
Every time I see these rank results I 4head every time....(bad word) sake bhvr ruin will destroy the killer playerbase but the matchmaking will be fatal.

Even if you are rank 2 SWF and get a rank 2 killer it tends not be fair the rare instance that happens; because you might all have like 100 hours or whatever and be semi decent but just playing and getting a lot of points even if you lose gets you to red rank- but the killer will be some 5000+ hour monster who demolishes you after you pop like one gen.
The brackets are so narrow, and there is this, coagulation around red ranks causing so many problems it's incredible. It's so unstable that if it was a bridge, I would fear it would collapse any second.
Going vs like Scott Jund level killers is as game breaking as going vs fully perked and equipped swf. But I don't think they can fix it because DBD is so rng based emblems count for nothing really and are rng based. So no way to measure skill and you will eventually end up where we are now full fledged rank chaos.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Because they don't know what's causing the problem.
Even when Matchmaking has been fixed in the past, it breaks again by the next patch or two.
Funny part is even with the ranking changes that still won't fix the issue you will still get rank 1 survivors vs rank 17 killers. Rank 20 has gotta be a wasteland at this point so its not just gonna be patched because the issue is obviously becoming more and more pervasive.
-
I kinda think its both sides survivors get long ques and killers hate the ruin changes so less killers.
-
They wanna hide rank you are (Bad word) out of luck
-
Steam charts isn’t exactly in depth I would like more details like killer numbers.
-
I mean the matchmaking is darkly funny it’s just gonna sink the game like the titanic.
-
No killers at high ranks on console or pc is just the start. Low rank killers won’t be able to get high rank because of the upside down matchmaking.

Don't disagree, but there are still games to be found at the moment. We are rapidly approaching the point of no return if we have not already reached it.
I’m already seeing complaints about longer and longer survivor ques.
-
Stranger things provided a bump in the playerbase but it didn't last long and events have brought in less and less.
-

Its funny how they want new ruin to be a late game perk but hex's never last till late game lol
bhvr logic is seldom logical
-
Matchmaking is completely off the rails for a lot of players.
-
What company would want the headache? they would have a easier time acquiring rights to the movie and tv based killers DBD has.
-
So bhvr nerfs ruin but the ranking system feeds new players too rank one killers lol
-
@SupaSlay3r20 said:
Games like this make me believe that red rank killers just don't exist anymore.
I expect killers are gonna become more and more rare at red rank unless you play DBD for a living or something. But they are becoming rarer at higher ranks as well
-
DBD's steam charts player count is 19,761 it hasn't gotten above 23-24k since ruins nerf where revealed however its the matchmaking that's a terminal illness.
-
They can't fix it because bhvr can't measure player skill properly unlike many other multiplayer games. The emblem system isn't good for ranking skill because its rng based really and dependent on various uncontrollable factors. So in saying that bhvr has no way of measuring skill even rank is cosmetic really.
-
This matchmaking will be the slow death of DBD its worse then ruin skill checks its actually game breaking. New players and Vets can't have fun because they shouldn't be matched but that is what will happen with this matchmaking.
