I personally believe the game would absolutely implode and crumble to dust by the time is up. I have a pretty decent amount of friends who wouldn't (and don't) play it without inviting a couple peeps in and queueing up to get destroyed, how much does everyone else consider DbD a party game?
Last we got numbers, some half of survivors are in one kind of SWF or another.
It'd be a damn interesting to watch play out, at least.
The player base would drop in numbers for the month and then spike after again.
Oh and the number of killers complaining on the forums would remain unchanged.
-
As a general rule against Plague I cleanse if:
- My teammates are dumb enough to cleanse
- im on death hook
- the exit gates are powered
Any other time it’s not worth it.
Also, as a general rule if you are playing solo queue: yes, your teammates are probably bad.
-
Nope not true if I die as survivor it’s because the killer camped and tunneled.
If I lose as killer it’s because survivors are op, game balance issue!! Nerf survivors!

I just took a spirit on a 4 gen chase on shelter woods and when she finally caught me, she face camped and slapped me on hook.My teammates didn't even bother saving me btw, they just did the last gen and left even though it was clear she only wanted me.
Honestly if someone face camps you after a chase like that you shouldn’t even be mad. Laugh it off, you won this situation.
-
Honestly all your posts make me think you just need to practice and get better as killer. Quitting games mid-match isn't going to make you get any better. Posting on the forums isn't going to make you get any better. There is in game things you can do to fix situations like this: leave or kill them.
-
Rank doesn’t really mean anything for either side. It really never has for survivor, maybe at one point back in the early days of the game it meant something for killer, but not anymore.
-
Dev Stream: Hey here is this cool new idea we have been working on/thinking of
DBD Community: *asks questions*
Dev Stream: Oh no we can’t talk about it
This has been going on for 4 and a half years. The dev streams are pointless.

Sprint Burst is low key the best exhaustion perk still. Always has been.
Dead Hard is great when it works, but it’s also great at leaving you on the ground with exhaustion.
Most of the time Dead Hard is easy to play around. Sometimes it’s used for distance but most of the time I find people trying to avoid hits with it, which is easy to bait out. It should be obvious if someone is baiting you to swing with Sprint Burst, the only thing you can do is not swing and keep moving forward to minimize the distance they gain.
-
Remove the aura reading and add it to Thrill of the Hunt.
-
Always be doing something that gives you bloodpoints. Too many newer players spend all game crouching around, scared and being useless. If you are getting bloodpoints then you are being useful to your team.
It takes time to learn how to run each killer efficiently. Dbd can be a very punishing game as you have found out: some games you will get camped and tunneled and not really get a chance to improve at all.
A good all around build to run:
- Sprint Burst
- Fixated
- Spine Chill
- Self Care, Inner Strength, Iron Will or Were Gonna Live Forever
-
Hell yeah dude, you show those random strangers on the internet.

There’s too much sense going on in this thread, where are the usual posters at?

You do realize that the killers have been calling for gen times to increase for a long time. It hasn't been done. Technically, both sides have been calling for the game to slow down but the devs want that fast paced action.
Patch 1.5.0
Increased the required amount of Charges to fully repair a Generator from formerly 70 Charges to 80 Charges
Patch 3.7.0
Increased the Efficiency Penalty from 10 % to 15 %per Survivor.
Reduced the Progression bonus from succeeding Great Skill Checks from 2 % to 1 %.

And now everyone will pretend like this is the norm and they ALWAYS go against these kind of teams. This is a tournament squad going for a record (at least Deebee is a tournament player, if I remember correctly). The chances that you run into them again with the same loadout are around 0. Chances to find a team like that with that loadout are not that much bigger.
But can we post the records of Kills and pretend those are happening all the time please? I mean, Tofu had a Billy-game where he got a 4K in 2 minutes. Can we pretend that this is happening on a regular basis?
But as I know this forum, only one side winning super-fast is a problem and should not be possible, but if the Killer does that, this is fine. :>
Hey now, you quit talking sense. We don’t do that here. This is the norm and I play against these teams every game!!1one

Fix the foundation to a point where camping/slugging/patrolling/tunneling just 2 people in the game waiting for their ds to run out is no longer the situation and the game turns into a point where the more hooks you do the better you go.
Or, if the current situation must remain: Ds nerfed so if a gen or anything apart from pallets and windows are touched it deactivates, or if anybody else is hooked.
Survivors always spawn together in one place, and need a secondary objective to start repairing gens.
For solos, new MMR will balance the matches more and more, so the noobs will face noober killers, and the skilled the most skilled.
Then it will be a completely new journey, because understanding the deep balancement of a 1 vs 4 game isn't easy.
But surely you don't put in the game things like keys or ds, that's for sure.
I can agree with a DS change, though I don’t think it’s really a problem right now. I don’t ever use it and rarely get hit by it. Remove it for all I care.
A secondary objective would be a welcome change but having it be required to repair gens is probably a mistake unless it’s a separate win condition for survivors. Gen times are fine if you play well.
I think we can both agree on matchmaking. This is probably the biggest issue in the game right now. Having an accurate matchmaking system would solve a lot of this games issues but is probably not going to happen.

If people are sweating their butts off to win, it’s competitive.
Sounds good, bud.

ALL games are balanced like this. Why is it so hard for everyone to understand? Balancing the game would barely affect the average player. A survivor who is bad at looping isn’t going to live a significant amount of time more by equipping UB and DS. They die either way.
Since you seem to think balance is so bad what would you do to fix it? Nerf pallets/loops/tiles? Add time to gens? What would you do that hasn't been done already?

Do you really think this is a competitive game on the same level as CS:GO? League of Legends? I'd say this game is closer to Mario Party.

This just shows you don’t know the game. I’d say that none of the current instadown killers are viable against top level comp. DBD is a pvp game, which means it should be balanced like all of the others.
So the game should be balanced around the extremely small chance that someone might lose one game against a team like this? I have 3294 hours in DBD and have never had this happen. Asking the game to be balanced around such a small portion of the games is absolutely bonkers.

The point is that it should NEVER be possible to make the game go as fast as the death squads make it go. Pretty much every game is balanced around the best players. DBD players have this entitled notion that this game should be an exception.
Agreed. Let's nerf the killers with instant down potential so they can stop ending games in 3-4 minutes.
Competitive games might be balanced around the best players - DBD is anything but competitive.

Who believes this believes this, but when comp players will do another experiment, there will be no excuse
Again, an experiment to show what? That if a 4 man team plays in an extremely specific way against a bad killer they can get gens done quickly? People don't play like this. Millions of games played each month, what % of games are like this do you think? I would bet money on it being less than 1%.
-
I regularly play Trapper without addons for no other reason than I really enjoy playing Trapper. I generally don't use addons on killers and I still think he is perfectly viable.
Not saying he couldn't do with a few buffs though. Allowing him to carry 2 or 3 traps by default would be a huge buff for him.
-
Well that settles it, nerf survivors. A few videos of survivor teams playing in a very specific, unrealistic way, one of them from truetalent no less.
Seriously why is this an issue? What's the point? I have over 3k hours into this game and have never played a team like this. I could post a few videos of killers ending games in under 3 minutes, should we then nerf killers?
-
This game is fairly well balanced at the moment with one huge glaring issue: matchmaking.
Rank =/= skill in Dead By Daylight.
Hitting rank 1 is essentially the same as hitting Summoner level 30 in League of Legends (is this still a thing?). Basically you have invested enough time into the game that it can be reasonably expected that you understand the basics of the game and what needs to be done in order to win. It does not mean that you are good at the game. Most people do not understand this and seem to think that "I hit red ranks so I am just as good as everyone else, and if I lose it's just because "x" side is op!"
In a perfect world they would add in a skill rating system that would match people up accordingly and all would be well in the world. The issue with this is, how do you define skill in this game? How many times you escaped? How many kills you get on average? How many great skill checks you get or how long you last in a chase? None of that means anything and so an accurate matchmaking system will never exist. But maybe it would be better than literally nothing that we have going on right now?
-
This game is killer sided in the vast majority of games. Sure, maybe the game sometimes might favor survivors if you have 4 good players on a team against a low tier killer but these games are rare. I play against a good team of survivors maybe once every 15-20 games and these tend to be the most enjoyable and challenging games for me.
If you are playing solo/duo queue or even trio queue as survivor you are probably in for a bad time if the killer has any idea what they are doing.
-
Huntress.
-
You need to understand there are a lot of people like this who are just looking to try to make people salty. Why? Who knows? Maybe they were bullied in High School. Just hit them with a gg and leave the lobby.

Killer choosing a specific hook for strategical reasons. Changing his loadout for that playstyle from Undying Ruin to this.
Is that a bad thing? To mix up the meta?
What does choosing a specific hook for strategical reasons have to do with Iron Grasp and Agitation? When is the last time you picked someone up and didn't have a minimum of 3 different hooks you could make it to? Choose one of them based on the situation, no need to hook basement most of the time.
-
@Tsulan said:

Killer has to take 2 perks for a chance to reach the basement. I repeat, 2 perks and it's not even guaranteed. It's not like the killer has 20 perk slots or something.
And? If it is for a challenge who cares? If it isn't for a challenge don't run the awful perks and hook them on any of the 37 other hooks you will be able to make it to.
-
I have been running FunGoose's build - Corrupt Intervention, Pop Goes The Weasel, Oppression and Tinkerer. I have played 23 so far and have 4k'd in every game except 1 (which was a one kill game). This is in red ranks, not that rank matters.
-
Loading into a game and realizing it's Huntress. What should be one of the most enjoyable killers to play against is ruined by some of the worst hitboxes ever created.
-
We truly live in the darkest timeline for gaming.

It matters if you have to hook survivors in the basement.
I mean is this for a challenge or something? Literally run Agitation and Iron Grasp in that case - the one time either of these perks are ever going to be useful.
-
Dead Hard because it’s extremely unreliable, yet when it does work it corrects a mistake that can extend chases that should have ended.
Infectious “play the game for me” Fright. Need I say more?
-
People that are able to play killer and do well without relying on op addons every game are generally the best players.
If you can do well on a killer like wraith you should be fine on most other killers except the few that play very differently (like nurse). Even low tier killers are perfectly viable against most survivors, despite what you will read here.
-
Does this really even matter? When is the last time you picked up a survivor and didn’t have 73 different hooks you could make it to?
-
Mostly correct except drop Oni down to mixed bag and move Huntress down to the bottom in her own special tier titled “what the ######### are these hitboxes.”
-
jUsT dOnT gEt HiT!
-
Because everyone knows Jeff players are always the worst people on the team
-
Imagine spending money on a killer skin that you don't even get to see in game. 😂
-
Agreed, it is very bland.
-
Well lets take a look. Since the beginning of the game:
- infinites are no longer a thing/entity blocker
- maps are smaller
- pallet numbers have been nerfed multiple times
- many pallets are now unsafe
- pallet vacuum is gone
- many windows are now blocked that used to be open
- flashlights nerfed multiple times - both addons and angles
- toolboxes nerfed
- brand new part nerfed
- instant heal gone
- bloodlust
- pallet loops are now taller
- red light no longer goes through walls
- killers vault windows faster
- pickup animation is faster
- healing takes longer by default
- end game collapse puts pressure on survivors
- killers can close hatch
- killers break pallets faster by default
- gen time has been increased (multiple times I think? could be wrong)
- gens can now be kicked and regressed
- hooks respawn after being sabotaged
- hooks spawn closer together
- gens spawn closer together
- medium vaults are now a thing/you need to be angled correctly to fast vault/window vacuum is gone
- massive dead zones on maps
- exhaustion is now a thing
- jungle gyms and shack nerfed
- breakable walls
- new maps/map reworks have nerfed a lot of strong loops or given killer an exit near the window which made the loop strong
I am sure there are several things I am missing. All this without mentioning a single killer/addons or perk specific thing. Not saying there aren't still issues for killer but it is easier than it has ever been.

Why should you not use the tools available to you? Perks and addons are part of the game.
I didn't say anywhere that you can't use addons. I am saying too many killers get carried by said perks and addons and never actually learn how to play the game. I personally don't use them because I feel like killer is already easy enough.
-
I haven't had a survivor salty at me in probably ~50 or so games. I don't camp, tunnel (i rarely get hit by DS), I don't use addons. I play exclusively Demo/Trapper/Wraith/Myers. I usually give the last survivor hatch because playing survivor feelsbadman. \
I don't do this because I want to play by the survivors "rules," I just feel like too many killers get carried by perks or addons every game. Learning to play killers without addons is one of the best things people can do to improve.
-
I think the biggest issue is that everyone thinks they are way better at this game than they actually are. All of the Genji mains or Yasuo mains play killer in dbd. Only they don't have a team to blame so its obviously a game balance issue.
It has legit never been easier to play killer than it is right now.
-
The longer the game goes the more it favors killer. Most of the time (especially vs perks like sloppy butcher) it is worth it to do gens over healing. If you can get a group heal going that is best or if you can complete a gen and heal after that works too.
-
I let the last survivor go every game, am I doing it right?

@Yords said:
I mean like a game that is very similar to dbd in the horror kind of aspect. Seriously, I don't think BHVR realizes how good of a spot they reside in a business sense. You had games like F13, or that Chinese dbd about a year ago?? (idk about this one, might have just been a clone) But all these games have just... ehhh died I guess? If not dead, then definitely not played as much.
Dead by daylight is BHVR's biggest game for sure, but what if they had some competition with another similar game? I don't know something like Dead before Dawn or whatever. If BHVR had to compete with another game like itself that was actually intimidatingly successful, would they be pressure to actually make good changes to dbd?
Dead by daylight is a very unique game, there are others that have tried to imitate it or be similar to it, but have failed. BHVR has literally no competition and I believe that is one of the reasons why they are a bit lazy when it comes to the game health-wize.
Also, I heard that they rebuilt dbd mobile from scratch, is this true? Because if so, why wouldn't they do that for dbd? Just some rumor I heard.
"What if Dead By Daylight had competition?"
I ask myself this every time I play killer. Getting real tired of feeling bad for survivors and giving last person hatch each game.
:^)
