I play solo queue as survivor, and I enjoy it when I have competent, experience teammates. But man, I don’t know what is going on with matchmaking. Just using my matches today as an example. I’ve been doing pretty well lately, escaping about half the time. But even after multiple escapes, my “reward” for doing well is getting matched with literal brand new players (less than 100 hours).

To me, this is by far the biggest frustration with the game, at least on the survivor side. When I play as survivor, even in solo queue, I feel like I at least have a decent chance to escape when I have experienced teammates. But when I do well and then start getting matched with brand new players multiple times in a row, it’s incredibly demoralizing and makes me just want to turn the game off and play something else.

Why doesn’t BHVR prioritize matchmaking improvements rather than all the other failed initiatives they’ve been working on lately? Just my opinion, but I’d much rather have better matchmaking than new content, bug fixes, map changes, or anything else. I have to believe other players feel the same way. I don’t know why BHVR continues to ignore this glaring issue with their game.

yep thats soloq. useless team mates that are either new to the game or they have thousands of hours but decide to throw, or they decide to do challenges. and people wonder why i play selfishly and only care about my escape.

That excuse being "I lost because I didn't tunnel?" Or "I lost because I have skill issues?"

or "i lost because of bad luck"

  • if im getting this right….4 hooks, 1 on each survivor so have to injure and down them all (8 hits total) to then mori the 4th after killer has 4 hooks (so another hit to down the 4th after they have been unhooked?). During this time getting 4 seperate hooks it leaves all players in the game… why not just tunnel the 1 out which takes 2 hits to down them, hook them, 1 hit to down them after they are unhooked, hook again, then 1 hit to down them a 3rd time and take them out the game? 1 person out of the match in 4 hits… instead of mori after twice as many hits. sounds better to tunnel to be honest

yes lol i mean a lot of people use the toolbox on the first gen anyway then its empty so cant use it on another without a perk to recharge it

still flabbergasted that ppl still think PR is strong and/or OP

its only op when people go down in 10 seconds. if im the only one on a gen, my 3 team mates go down fast, the gen im working on isnt getting done. But when that happens, it wouldnt matter that the gen isnt getting done because even if that 1 gen gets done, its unlikely im going to be able to do the rest when my team is dropping like flies.

So you want to abandon in a situation that reveals your lack of skill and the only thing you want is to cut off your training time? Youre literally just screwing yourself in this scenario. You will just loose out on opportunities to get more experience. Another match wont bring you more benefit.

This could be said regarding the survivors ability to abandon after being downed twice. Even when they have been recovered and the match is still going on, the survivor could be said to have demonstrated lack of skill by going down on more than one occasion, instead of playing out the rest of the match to to possibly win or atleast gain experience and practice the survivor has an option to abandon.

  • ye its the decoys you want not regular ones. i found a snowpile, made snowman, abandoned the snowman to make a decoy then hit it with snowball. did it 3 times and it worked.

We did the gens while I was looking for the glyph to pop up somewhere and when all gens were done I was racing around most of the map trying to find it but no luck was looking until couldn't anymore 😕 had to escape before the timer ran out just seems like it should be at certain areas like killers shack the basement or around the gens

i love them tbh, they can be heard much like the hatch can, they let out a sort of crackle when nearby so i just listen for that and usually have no issues. a lot of people dont do gens when they do challenges so that might be a way to go.

  • shroud of separation doesnt always work either, i have used it plenty and very often i spawn next to atleast one other person. its supposed to spawn survivors away from eachother not start the trial with someone else, thats shroud of union.

You do also realize if you would not lose MMR in certain abandoning situations then it could be abused by players to not lose MMR. Like if you think you don't lose MMR when you are downed and killer downs the last survivor causing the game to let you abandon you are just fooling yourself. Of course you lose MMR as you lost the match.

to be fair, thats exactly what has been said…. abandons dont effect MMR, meaning you dont go up or down. Its void.

When asked about the stats tracker not tracking matches, this is the respose:

    Screenshot 2025-10-27 193455.png

As we all know the stats tracker and the stats BHVR uses are not the same. But the point to note here is the "MMR is not affected".

It's all fun and games until a 3-man decides to grief you and leave you on hook then says "we were doing the gens like you wanted."

to be fair a common occurrence regardless of what the solo player does. part of the reason i play the way i do is because that situation was happening all too often. Not the griefing part, they play the match as normal, i would go for saves, take hits, give a hook state or 2 to take the pressure off but when their duo or trio are safe they dont risk themselves for the 1 random.

  • ye this is promoting unsportsmanlike gameplay by admitting and encouraging people to afk and not play the game….which is against the forum rules and can mean a warning or worse, a ban on the forum

He's simply impossible to loop, and the only option is pre-drops with your nerfed, crappy pallets (can't be even chained) — THAT'S NOT INTERESTING AT ALL AND BORING. Nerf his m2 speed, give him a longer cooldown after breaking pallets with it, and reduce the duration of tier 3. How can you still not change such a broken killer?!
And in my matches, someone always gives up or quits against him, and you know, I understand them!

you are right new reworked myers is boring, i miss the threat of tombstone….something that gave a reason to fear a killer than can and will kill you if you get in his face. But currently op and in need of nerfs? no. before the latest buffs, rework myers was a joke. He was so easy to counter i had countless matches and never lost 1 as survivor v myers. my first loss against myers came after the buffs but i still win a lot of myers matches. i think any nerfs to myers will result in me getting another long win streak v myers.

There is no point for that kind of feature then if that is truly what you are suggesting on my opinion. Would just hog a server that could be used by other people to play real match.

hog a server in the same way it does with killers that remain in the match to clean up instead of abandoning?

I don't really get what you are on about now. There is no situation where match would go on without killer or are you trying to speculate a scenario where killer would be replaced with a bot. Well there is no such situation as there is no killer bots in 1v4 and match ends if killer DC. Even in that choice the match ends with a tie you don't get a win with it as survivor if killer leaves.

You are just now inventing situation that has no pairing of anything in this. Why are you complaining about a choice you are given the choice and you are also wrong when survivors abandon the match is counted for the to be a loss. Only time survivor gets out "free" not effecting their MMR is when you are the last survivor to leave when all others are bots already so that means all others have left one way or another. This does not mean when all are downed or on hook as that one is considered a loss for the survivors even for the one who leaves last.

At least as a killer there is a choice to win the match if you kill the bots but you can take the tie if you don't want to waste the time killing bots its up to killer player in question. Still in the end the win/loss only effects MMR so most likely does almost nothing in the end.

thats exactly what im suggesting, for bhvr to allow killers to abandon while allowing the match to continue. its a suggestion to allow the killers the same as what survivors currently have.

im not complaining about anything im just saying what killer wants to draw a match they won? they dont so they need to finish the match. survivors should have this same choice, killer abandons, they would then have a choice of abandon and take a draw for a match they have clearly won or they finish up and take the win.

Showing that you don't know the abandoning rules. Killer can abandon after all survivors are bots and its not counted a loss but a draw so no effect on MMR.

yes they can abandon but doing so means the killer does not get the 4k, the match is void. its killers choice to mop up, finish the match and make it count or just void it.

Flip this so killer abandons but the match goes on without the killer, survivors could abandon and make the match void just like killer can when all survivors are downed and abandon. Or they could choose to mop up, finish the match which means they walk away with an escape instead of a void just like killer can choose to walk away with the 4k instead of a void match.

I think the key difference here is again, if a survivor DCs, the other four people in the match still get to play the game.

If the killer DCs, the match instantly ends. Even if it's counted as a win to the survivor players, they fundamentally still did not get to actually play the game.

Even if the killer was just gone and the survivors finished gens and left without the threat, that isn't what the game is. That's just playing generator simulator—an aspect of gameplay that most regard as the most boring part of the entire game. That's it. That's the reason. If a survivor DCs, the other four players can still play the game. If the killer DCs, they deny everyone else in the match the ability to play. That's why killers can't abandon.

And once again, I have been in matches that seemed completely over and seen killers come back to 4Ks. I've been that killer, and I will readily admit I'm a pretty ass killer player. The game isn't really at any point totally without merit for the killer player, until the last survivor has actively left the trial, there is always the ability to come back to some degree. Most of the situations in which survivors can abandon without penalty, there is no come back, there is no merit, just a dragging out of the inevitable, and often times there's little to no real interactivity at all (slugged, hooked, etc).

A common complaint I see from killer mains re: survivors abandoning and being left with the bots is that the bots aren't as fun to play against. Which I can absolutely understand, but a survivor bot replacing an abandon or DC still allows you, in some capacity, to play out the match. The reverse isn't true.

"Even if the killer was just gone and the survivors finished gens and left without the threat, that isn't what the game is. That's just playing generator simulator—an aspect of gameplay that most regard as the most boring part of the entire game"

So the survivors all throw, go down and abandon leaving the match penalty free….the killer is left with picking up 4 downed survivors, hooking them and waiting out the hook with nothing to do at all, the most boring part of the entire game for killer. How is this any different to survivors doing gens or opening the gate with no killer when the killer abandons leaving penalty free?

You know, I'm going to be nice and show some of my gameplay.  This was one of my better chases, and I consider myself lucky because I normally don't last this long in chase.  But why did I do so well this time?  Did I do anything particularly skillful?  Or was I just lucky that Wesker kept missing his dash attacks (and even vaulted something at the beginning, giving me more distance)?  Or was I lucky to get matched with teammates who split up on three separate gens during that chase?

    https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2447363709

i understand the point of being lucky getting that one off good chase now and then, maybe have a lucky map now and then, like you said that chase isnt what normally happens. But is it possible for someone to be that lucky and get good chases so often for months or years that makes tunneling a non issue? if your honestly saying there is no skill expression in the game and its luck then im curious how a new player with like 50 hours doesnt get this luck while players with thousands of hours somehow do? luck doesnt discriminate by hours or time practiced. yes there is luck involved like everything but to say its all luck and there is nothing the player can do to change it doesnt add up when players are starting out really bad at the game and over time they get better. luck doesnt do that, it doesnt get better over time, skill does.

no one said anything about hiding to avoid being tunneled

You did. In this thread, first page. "killer cant tunnel what they cant find."

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4038746#Comment_4038746

    Basekit counters include

stealth, killer cant tunnel what they cant find.

looping, a killer tunneling a good looper often leads to them losing the match or abandoning chase which stops the tunneling.

the team as a whole is basekit for survivor, body blocks, unhooking at the right time, flashlight saves just to name a few.

The reason your narrative here isn't resonating with people outside of you and one other person (as far as I can tell this is the sum and total of "others who [supposedly] have no issue with tunneling") is because none of this reliably works in practice.

Conspicuously absent from anything you talk about is "being efficient with your time", like gluing yourself to a gen while the killer is tunneling. I.e. "gen rush". Which is the only true way to beat tunneling.

It really smacks of "how do you do fellow survivors" to encourage people to waste time being inefficient instead of "just do gens", which is the only real answer to tunneling.

When the killer decides to tunnel, survivors need to take that time with no pressure on anyone else and do gens as fast as possible. That's the actual answer you keep suspiciously dancing around.

that also says just 1 of many ways to counter tunneling, since then the discussion has been about looping and how a good looper can counter tunneling or not and i have said i have looped the killer long enough for them to abandon chase. This is nothing to do with hiding. hiding to avoid tunneling is a seperate tactic and not what this discussion in about

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Survivors can also only abandon in very specific situations. And well, Killers should not go next, a Killer DC is probably even worse than a Survivor DC, because when a Survivor DCs this sucks for all other Survivors (not for the Killer, since it is a free win with a Bot), but at least the game goes on. If a Killer DCs, the game would be over immediatly.

these very specific situations are becoming more frequent and common. people avoid the go next pen by just going down, when 1 throws others tend to do the same because they feel there is no point playing a match where the team is throwing. when all are down, all abandon and avoid the DC pen and go next pen.

a common situation in matches at the moment is one throws, another follows, killer gets 2 easy downs before a gen is even half way done. the other 2 survivors have a choice, play out a match where half the team isnt bothering or follow the throwing to abandon. what do you think people are doing in that situation? playing a hopeless match or going for the abandon? the match is over, the downed survivors turn to bots the killer can abandon too to just end it or wait out the bots hook timers but the match is over, there is no gameplay to be had. The killer abandon equivalent could just remove the killer from the game, gens get finished automatically, survivors can either open the gate for a free win much like the killer waits for hook timer when bots are hooked, or they can abandon too.

The cold truth is if survivor is good in chase (and has strong perks on top) than killer who can count and has some experience will see it and then count if its woth continuing to chase that survivor (like if the survivor is being tunneled and runs into part of the map with strong loops that havent been used like nice chain of loops leading to main or shack) if he is running into strong position or he will be hard to get even at medium loops experienced killer will drop that chase and will go for other survivor that isnt that problematic to get (simple as in reality, why would wolf chase healty and strong deer when he can go against old, tired and mostly injured deer that wont be so hard to get, the answer is simple and with same logic killers with experience think they either think how to win or they say screw it and o just for one tunnel that looses them the game or they dont know it and cant see it yet so they still commit to chase or tunnel that will make them loose).

Its just simple if you are good in looping and are hard to get either by your position or with perks, killer will either drop it because he is smart and thinks, predicts or he will commit for two reasons 1) he is just tryhard who wants some challange and doesnt care for win or wants his chasing improove or 2) he just isnt must experienced and doesnt see that good survivor is leading him into place filled with strong loops with lot of safety and with strong perks.

i agree, although many killers seem to DC after they try going for me for a while, drop chase, go for someone else that can loop, 3 gens pop and game just ends. When killers drop chase with me and downs someone else fast, that survivor gets tunneled out because why would the killer go for a strong looper when they can go for the weak link? Thats playing smart. i dont have anything special that others dont have, other than time and hours of practice. i have the same perk selection as everyone else, i get the same maps as everyone else, i get the same tunneling blights like everyone else, i even get the same useless team mates in soloq that solo players often get. Which makes me wonder, how is it that i am doing ok but others are not? Apparently the hours and practice doesnt build skill levels or better game sense, it just makes me luckier the longer i play the game lol

Every time ranked mode is brought up, someone says this. I don’t understand why. Whether ranked mode exists or not, it makes no difference.

new players get stomped in the current system yes, but having a ranked mode would not only not prevent it but it would also split the q times.

Why split the q and increase wait times for everyone and still have the same issue of try hards stomping casuals?

It's still luck because it's your decision vs. The Killer's, not to mention they only have to win once (or twice if you start healthy). So tunneling is already heavily skewed in the Killer's favor. Survivors winning one 50/50 at a loop only earns them maybe five more seconds. And then add in the game mechanics that ensure the Killer will catch you eventually, skews it even further in their favor. So all the Survivor skill in the world won't defend against tunneling for long.

And your own decision to hide all game to avoid being tunneled, there's no skill in that.

no one said anything about hiding to avoid being tunneled, i have said many times i have been able to loop the kiiler so long that they abandon chase which means the killers tunneling doesnt work. Your saying there is no skill in looping? no skill expression in the game at all because its all luck and you think that someone like me can be lucky that often, match after match, for years which is the reason why i dont find tunneling an issue….. lol what can anyone say to that mindset? hope your luck improves?

  • @CrypticGirl said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4039097#Comment_4039097

The "skill" (if you can call it that) is in the decision-making. That's all Survivors can really do, and just one bad decision can lead to disaster, both in and out of chase. That's why I always run Kindred, to help me make more informed decisions when someone is on hook, and to help the teammates make their decision when I'm hooked.

There's all kinds of decisions you make when the Killer chases you. You're running around the pallet; do you drop it? Do you anticipate the Killer doubling back and decide to double back yourself? If you pallet-stun the Killer, do you run to the next tile or sit there and t-bag? Or do you vault over the pallet? When the Killer gets the first hit on you, do you use the speed boost to gain distance, or do you keep looping the same tile? Those are just a few of the decisions involved during chase, and you never know what decisions the Killer is going to make. That's why I say it's unrealistic for Survivors to "get gud", because you can't get good at paper/rock/scissors. The only thing they can realistically improve is their decision-making outside of chase.

so now we have established what skill part is (decision making), which is in the players control… the fact myself and others dont have an issue with tunneling is because we make better decisions while people that struggle with tunneling make bad decisions. correct?

  • @CrypticGirl said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4038990#Comment_4038990

Pretty sure you're the only person who "doesn't have a problem with tunneling" on the Survivor side. I haven't seen any other Survivor say that.

there has been many people saying they dont have an issue with it. your dismissing not only the skill factor that goes into looping which pretty much almost all survivors agree looping is the only expression of skill but your also dismissing the people that have come forward on this forum saying they dont find tunneling an issue.

you didnt answer the question, if me looping the killer good enough they cant tunnel me is lucky then what is skill?

  • @CrypticGirl said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4038986#Comment_4038986

Yeah, it does take luck to counter it in one way or another. Whether the Killer is unskilled, whether you win the countless 50/50's (which are heavily skewed in the Killer's favor, since they only have to win the mindgame once), or whether you have random teammates that try to protect you (and rarer still for them to succeed in doing so), and whatever perks they're running, or the Killer is running. All of those are factors of luck.

based on that killer getting kills is also luck, luck of the map, luck of the quality of survivor they go against, 50/50 pallets being luck, spawn locations being luck, everything is luck based thats the point to RNG.

But are you saying that this luck has maintained for years for myself and others that have no problems with tunnelers and your luck is that bad that tunneling is an issue? if looping killers for years to the point of tunneling not being an issue is luck based then what is skill based?

  • @CrypticGirl said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4038979#Comment_4038979

There's no point in discussing anything with you, because you'll just twist it all. Tunneling is a problem that needs to be addressed, no matter how you try to defend it.

how is using your own views twisting things? you still havnt explained how a survivor that doesnt find tunneling an issue because they can counter it is only able to do so due to being lucky repeatedly for years playing with unskilled killers…..but when your the survivor that gets tunneled your unlucky because your not going against an unskilled killer like i have apparently been doing for years.

This is what your failing to explain, you say say its a problem, you say it cant be countered, you say its luck that counters it. true? this is what you said. But the fact this "luck" seems to last month after month, year after year doesnt seem to tie in with luck.

    1. If I had to estimate, I'd say gens took between 7 to 12 minutes when they all got done (lots of games ended up being hatch games without gens being finished).
    2. the 3:26 game is one where the killer afked.
    3. Most games that are played are either 2 man or solos. But yes will gens go a bit faster with coordinated swfs? yes. Do they get all 5 gens done most games? No. So again I say, the first 2 gens popping quickly doesn't really translate into an auto win like people make it seem. whats your kill rate? You probably have a few quick games but for the most part, you probably do better than you think.
    4. Even still, the reason my escape rate is so high, is because of hatch offerings, not door escapes lol.

most of your matches may be solo or 2man swf but thats not the case in my matches. most matches are 2 x 2man swf or 3man swf. i know this because i often play the same teams over and over, literally played against the same 3 man team 4 matches in a row, it got to a point they actually asked me to dodge them next time because they got fed up playing me every match (i didnt dodge and they had me as killer a couple more times shortly after that). and yes if i dont tunnel then all 5 gens get done in about 5 to 7min. which is why i tunnel, i dont go speedy killers to keep up with the pace.

First 2 or 3 gens going fast is crucial because the kick limit means killer cant defend the gens forever, with a full team in play working on the last of the gens, pre running, taking the chase away from the gens….those gens are getting done no matter how hard the killer tries to defend them

i play very few killer games these days, mostly survivor now but myers kill rate is about 80%, 2nd main is pyramid head with 66% kill rate and thats with tunneling. bare in mind 60% is what the devs aim for with kill rate…. without tunneling gens were going too fast and my kill rate was much lower. my 30 day survivor escape rate is about 60% because i stopped bringing the hatch offering, when i used hatch offering it was about 70%

If survivors spread and do gens even with fast chases and good early preasure killer can be hit by multiple gens being done on few hooks against survivors that know how to build preasure and win, there are many videos where killer is doing well but he still gets rushed like he couldnt get single hook.

True, all it takes is survivors to spread out, get on gens. the killer can only chase 1 person at a time if all are spread out. sure killer can abandon the chase to kick someone off a gen but the survivor they stopped chasing just gets on a gen instead. This mostly happens in swf teams but can happen in solo too, just less often in soloq based on my survivor matches where no one touches gens. without a fast high mobility killer the odds are stacked against the killer when survivors actually play the game.

Videos showing 2 or 3 gens popping in the first few minutes literally means nothing. The last 2-3s is what takes time because it is easier to defend fewer gens towards the middle/end game. "Gens flying" in the beginning does not mean it's actually leading to all gens getting done and escaping. In fact, I'd argue most games do not result in all 5 gens getting done and more than 2 survivors getting out.

That being said, these are my survivor results from the last 30 games.

    4 things to note:

    1. My 30 day escape rate is currently 61.39%.
    2. I only play solo q.
    3. I always bring a hatch offering (now that they are secret, they work fairly often).
    4. The blight match with a 3 out was because the blight was memeing and let us go (otherwise every blight match would been an L)

    1. doesnt show how fast gens were done
    2. im seeing a good few matches where survivors escaped in under 7min… even a match where all 4 escaped in 3min 26sec which sort of proves my point of how fast matches are.
    3. soloq isnrt the issue so it makes any soloq stats irrelevant. in my soloq matches i get people that go next, dc, meme around and dont touch gens…of course matches will last longer when people are not playing it. the issue is swf teams that all play and all know what they are doing which in my killer matches is very frequent which is how gens fly so fast.
    4. hatch offering is supposed to be hidden….its not. we can still see it lol

i would like to add early gens flying is the point because although less gens to protect is easier, the killer cant protect them all if there are 4 survivors still in the game, hence the need to tunnel 1 out before i gets to that point. The gen kick limit also makes defending the last gens impossible v survivors that actually know how to play.

I’m willing to upload a spreadsheet of my last 30 survivor games if are willing to do the same. I guarantee you don’t have more than 3 games that lasted 5 minutes or less without a dc causing it.

i can play killer and not tunnel and upload how fast the opponent does gens no problem as my killer matches im always getting sef teams where gens fly. although all you need to do is google it and you will see killers start the match and in 45 seconds 3 gens are done. my soloq matches can take longer than 5min because im solo and my team wont touch gens…thats never been in dispute

Now that the stat tracker exists, can we finally put the 5 minute game myth to bed please? To everyone who keeps repeating that games are constantly being completed in 5 minutes (and with the survivors winning), please go to your stats and tell us how many of your last 30 games lasted only 5 minutes.

    1. stats tracker is broken, records incorrect data.
    2. a lot of the time killers DC when all gens are done that fast. literally had 2 matches tonight where a nemesis and chucky DC'd because 3 gens flew and im soloq
    3. swf teams that coordinate and works on gens efficiently most certainly can get gens done in about 5min…i say about because it can be roughly a time frame 5-7min

as soloq player with a team mate that didnt do gens my match lastest 6min45sec, would have been faster if everyone did gens.

Curious how long your matches are

After what Gun and Illfonic did to F13th, TCM and Predator Hunting Grounds, no one has any faith in any game those companies touch.

The Halloween game will last about a year before it flops, then the license holders will come crawling back to BHVR.

Best case scenario is the Halloween game is miraculously a great game and doesn't get abandoned nor becomes a cashgrab, which pulls some players away from DBD. In response, BHVR first switches up their roadmap and starts prioritizing licensed content, if that doesn't work, they pull a Blizzard and "suddenly" a bunch of stuff and QOL that have been requested for years get released rapid-fire to bring back the players initially lost to the Halloween game. Returning the status quo when player numbers return to BHVR's liking.

Unfortunately, being limited to a single license, the Halloween game cannot offer the same variety long-term that DBD offers with its constantly growing number of licenses. Even if the people behind the game didn't have a horrible track record, it would take a lot for DBD to be truly threatened.

to be fair, dbd with all its licences and wide variety of killers and survivor and perks…. really there is no variety. its the same killers time and time again using the same perks time and time again. every survivor is exactly the same, its just perks that make them different and survivors seem to use the same perks time and time again. there is no variety. even the map rotation is limited, repeatedly getting The Game map multiple times a night and rarely seeing maps like coldwind farm.

  • the only military person i would like to see in dbd is a commando but that would only fit if they had predator to go with it.

You're not really understanding my logic at all, or you just don't want to. You just want to twist it into your own narrative.

If someone gets tunneled out, I will absolutely blame the Killer, because they made the choice to tunnel in the first place. MMR is an issue as well, but for all kinds of different reasons. Killers can and will tunnel at any MMR level, but MMR matchmaking can play a hand in the outcome, since a skilled Survivor can loop and unskilled Killer, but not so well when it's the other way around. If the Killer and Survivor are equally skilled, then it comes to whoever happens to win the constant paper/rock/scissors game.

so the killer got lucky by getting an unskilled survivor that cant counter them and you blame the killer? Thats exactly what you have just said. not sure that makes sense. none of what you have said makes sense….

    1. killers dont get 100% kill rate because not all killers tunnel…..when debunked showing no killer is getting 100% kill rate you change arguments to
    2. killers dont get 100% kill rate because they get lucky going against unskilled survivors which says skilled survivors can beat it. when your in that position of lucky killer v you being the unskilled survivor that cant counter it its suddenly
    3. you twisting it to fit your narrative.

each time your argument is proven false you change it to try fit your narrative. you lay the rules down but refuse to accept the rules apply to you too. as far as mmr goes, yet it is messed up i agree but after months and years of playing survivor and having very little issues with tunneling the luck card just doesnt wash, your just dismissing your own skill level by basically saying "nothing wrong with my skill, no one can counter tunneling, its unbeatable, anyone that counters it is lucky."

if the killer is unskilled going against skilled survivors then it wont matter how much tunneling they do, they wont get that skilled looper.

likewise, if the survivor is unskilled and the killer is skilled it wont matter if the killer tunnels or not, thats survivor is going down.

Thats how the game should be, thats how the game is and thats how the game will always be. fact remains, a tunneling killer cant tunnel if the survivor is skilled enough to out loop them. so like i said, next time your tunneled, you really should blame the mmr matchmaking system for matching you with a killer you cant loop….maybe some day you will get "lucky" like me and start getting unskilled killers that you can loop like i do.

Now, neither Hellraiser or Halloween left the game because of BHVR.

Hellraiser had licensing problems with the ownership changing.

And Halloween is being pulled because of the new game made by Gun.

didnt gun do TCM? why didnt dbd lose the licence to bubba?

A skilled Killer getting matched with an unskilled Survivor would have to be luck, given how the MMR matchmaking works (or doesn't). From what I'm seeing, about 99% of the community agrees that the matchmaking sucks. But matches shouldn't be won purely with luck or cheese.

so the issue isnt tunneling or needing the perks to counter it, the issue is matchmaking and mmr matching skilled players v unskilled players. so tunneling killers get lucky and get matched with unskilled survivors that cant counter it… but when v skilled survivors its more evenly matched. likewise with survivors, can get lucky and get an unskilled killer that tunnels and just loop them.

so using your logic, when you are tunneled out, dont blame tunneling or the killer, blame mmr for matching a skilled killer v unskilled survivor that cant counter it

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4038780#Comment_4038780

Yeah, it's just as likely that you looped an unskilled Killer, which would be luck.

so all these tunnelers could be winning by luck….likely to tunnel an unskilled survivor which would be luck right?

  • @CrypticGirl said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4038777#Comment_4038777

But the person being tunneled still dies, with or without anti-tunnel perks. Unless they get really lucky.

i have escaped many times after being tunneled with no perks so that statement is false. i have escaped by looping the killer…. your saying every time i out loop the killer is luck and that luck happens a lot? wish i had that luck with the lottery lol

  • @CrypticGirl said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4038765#Comment_4038765

Because the other three bust out gens while the one being tunneled dies.

so we have gone from its not 100% kill rate because some killers dont tunnel to its not 100% kill rate because survivors are doing their objective which leads to a loss for the killer. so you have just proven tunneling isnt always a winning tactic, survivors are escaping, killers are not using tunneling to win every match, killers can in fact lose when they tunnel, it has its down side like all tactics should have.

Then we got the survivor side…. as survivor i have come across tunnelers many times. there are loads of matches the killer ended up abandoning the chase because they couldnt catch the survivor. some have even DC'd after 3 gens popped while they were tunneling. I have done this myself many times without anti tunnel perks. so your comment of "But if you get tunneled, you willdie. People don't want to play a match where their death is guaranteed." Which clearly isnt true as myself and others have been tunneled and have still escaped.

At some point it has to be skill issue which is fine, not everyone is skilled enough to counter tunneling with no anti tunnel perks and there is nothing wrong with that, different people have different skill levels but thats what the perks are for, to help. By shunning the help thats offered and saying "i shouldnt have to use them" your making that choice to go into a match hoping the killer doesnt tunnel instead of preparing for it, setting yourself up for a loss if the killer does tunnel

  • @CrypticGirl said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4038749#Comment_4038749

Why isn't the kill rate 100%? Because not every Killer tunnels. Some Killers like to challenge themselves by not playing the easy way, and are willing to accept losses when they get outplayed.

so why is my kill rate not 100%? is there any killer here that openly admits to tunneling and gets 100% kill rate? i have admitted to tunneling hard and im not gettting 100% kill rate with any killer doing that.

your claiming the reason kill rates are not 100% is due to the killers that dont tunnel, how do you explain the lack of 100% kill rate for the killers that do?

  • @CrypticGirl said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4038735#Comment_4038735

You know I was being sarcastic, right? My point was that it's unrealistic to expect us to run a perk to counter something basekit like tunneling. Jesterkind explained that far more eloquently.

its realistic for the ones that need a full build to counter it. not every one does need a full anti tunnel build. my point is if someone is complaining about something, knowing what the solution is, knowing what perks counter it and the choose not to set them then they cant really complain.

    Basekit counters include

    1. stealth, killer cant tunnel what they cant find.
    2. looping, a killer tunneling a good looper often leads to them losing the match or abandoning chase which stops the tunneling.
    3. the team as a whole is basekit for survivor, body blocks, unhooking at the right time, flashlight saves just to name a few.

If these basekit counters are not enough then there a number of perks to help, if one or 2 perks dont help then yes a full build is needed for that player.

Killers are in the same boat and i think the same way about killers when they say "we shouldnt have to use full slow down perks"… if basekit pressure and basekit tactics fail v basekit gen speeds or gen rush builds then yes absolutely they should use a slow down build. Thats what the perks are there for, to help players counter a specific situation they are struggling with.

  • @CrypticGirl said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4038727#Comment_4038727

So you want us to run four perks to counter tunneling, hexes, aura-reading, gen slowdown, healing slowdown?

Sure, give me 20 more perk slots, and I'll be sure to run builds that counter everything the Killer can bring.

    there are 4 survivors….thats 16 perks.

killer has only 4 perk slots, how is the killer going to have a hex build and aura build and gen slow down build? thats my point. the killer is limited to what build they can go for, you dont know what they have so you dont know what to prepare for so you prepare for the most common which from what others have said is tunneling.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4038727#Comment_4038727

To be fair, for quite a few people that is the complaint.

You have to run very specific perks every single match because if you don't have them and the killer decides to leverage a basekit balance problem, you have practically no defence. There's no winning position there for quality of life- either you don't get to craft full builds or you're at the mercy of your opponent's good will.

That situation is the problem, or at least part of it.

but you dont have to use them, i dont use them and i do ok. for the ones that struggle, it makes sense to bring everything in their arsenal to combat things they are having issues with. no different to Woo so people can see pallets and vaults. some people dont need it but the ones that struggle without it then its there for them use.

while tunneling is pretty much a basekit tactic, survivors have basekit tactics which counter it such as loops, stealth and the 3 other team mates that can make gens fly while 1 is being tunneled.

its surprising how many survivors bring literally nothing, no perks, no items and then complain when the killer wins or complains when the killer tunnels them out.

  • @CrypticGirl said:

That's the major thing I never liked about DS. Once it's used, the Killer can then freely tunnel you. (Unless you also have OTR, but who wants to run an entire build dedicated to tunnel-countering?)

to be fair, if tunneling is as common and unstoppable as people claim it to be then why wouldnt you run an entire build dedicated to countering tunneling? it seems people know what the issue is, they know there are counters to it and perks to aid in countering but do people use them? nope…. thats on them.

i mean if im constantly seeing a particular play style it makes sense to go prepared to counter it, like if everyone was bringing hex perks then i would start running anti hex builds. or if killers were slugging every match then i would bring anti slugging to the table. same with killers, if im finding a lot of people are looping pretty well in my matches then it makes sense to go anti loop killers or go anti loop builds. unless tunneling doesnt happen that often?

  • ye i wont be doing that. its bad enough the devs dont do any bug testing and just release content then expect the players to do their job for them by finding bugs and issues…. i wont be signing in to a 3rd party site to do it.
