  • Uh, killers already complained during PTB that Counter Force was completely overpowered. If you remove the aura reading, you make the perk even stronger because survivors will waste less time running the longest possible routes between totems and searching for totems that they only know the approximate location and that may either be well hidden or already cleansed by someone else.

I fear the discussion whether the perk should be removed from the game because it's too powerful would start again if you remove the aura reading. With my survivor hat on, I'd appreciate it if the aura reading would go, although I expect the perk usage to drop when it's no longer shiny new.

  • One thing that tires me in this thread is the amount of times you repeat how survivors don't want to run kindred instead of their second chance perks. Makes you sound like a killer main tired of SWF with the same meta perks who is delighted how solos are required to dedicate their full build to make up for their lack of information and is afraid this might change. Please consider that always running the same static build as survivor to have a halfway decent solo experience isn't much more fun either, and there are plenty of interesting perks - not even second chance perks - in the game that I'd love to run but only really get a chance to in SWF or the moment I say something about solo experience I get hit with "why don't you just use <exact build I got tired of running every single match for days and weeks>".

Particularly as the devs are just stacking up on these kind of "here's something to make your solo matches better" perks, it's not just Kindred, all four slots can be easily dedicated to "make up for the fact you're not in SWF" perks. Totem counter so you know whether you need to hurry to snack an Inner Strength heal in case your teammates are actually cleansing totems? Or just to know whether your teammates do anything useful if you run the killer and gens don't pop? No problem, now you can just add Small Game to your build. As if I had five perk slots.

  • Kind of yes. There are 40 levels worth of fragments in the tome in 90 challenges. If you get the 300 XP daily bonus for playing each side every day, the only way to not have finished the rift when completing the challenges is if you are super efficient and get less than ~2,3 fragments on average through gameplay per challenge (about 3 if we ignore the daily bonuses). Since 500 XP gain you one fragment and a "normal" length game is slightly more than 500 XP, you'd have to beat each challenge in less than two games on average to not be done with the rift after completing all challenges. A lot of challenges are constructed so that they are almost impossible to complete in two games: try cleansing 15 totems in two games, and communicating with five glyphs takes you at least five games as well. Killing 12 survivors in two games? Nope!

Therefore, I'd be surprised if anyone except maybe a handful of people who see challenges as some kind of e-sport would manage to complete the tome but not be tier 70 on the rift.

Sadly game is not balanced and survivorside. If game would be fair, kill rates would be +80% because most survivors are not good. Just they carrying by survside maps.

Most survivors are not good, but they still deserve fun and fair matches - just like the poor rank 17 killer from the OP's video, who certainly wasn't that good either. Maybe the solution would rather be to match this man against the many average survivors, and everyone will have a good time.

If we nerf survivors/buff killers so much that every not so good killer has a fair chance against a cherry-picked experienced sweaty team who doesn't want to play a normal DbD match like the majority of survivors do but tune every little thing in their load out up to the max to prove some point, then who's left to play against the majority of "average skilled" survivors?

So again, I believe the first step should be the ranking/matchmaking system.

And finally a more general remark on this thread, it's not the end of the world if two gens pop by the time the first survivor is downed. If the killer mentally throws the game at this point because the internet told him that it's hopeless because he's a victim of poor balance, then it's really the killer's problem. The last generator(s) can go really, really slow and often enough don't get done at all.

  • I do appreciate it and usually reply. The main reason why I'll keep crossplay off is so that people can message me if they want. I've had some nice conversations resulting from that.

  • Well, chases are what I find the most fun in this game, also as killer (don't care about sacrifices too much) so I don't use perks with exposed effect, in fact you'll probably hear me groan tonight if two of the three new killer perks inflict Exposed. In my killer mindset, exposed survivors = half the chases = half the fun.

As survivor I don't mind it too much as long as there's still some counterplay, as with Starstruck (for example) you just see and hear the killer and can avoid him.

When it's getting boring for me as survivor is when exposed/instadowns are combined with the other thing that the devs love to build increasingly into the game to make it spicier which is the Undetectable status. Had a game against a Myers with extended T3 and several Undetectable perks (I remember Trail of Torment, Tinkerer) on Lerys. I don't think there was a single interesting chase in this game, you'd just stumble randomly into this guy around a corner and were lying on your nose the next second before there was any chance to react. Similar with Tinkerer and instadown killers on maps where gens are positioned so that you can't watch your surroundings and suddenly have an instadown killer next to you and absolutely no opportunity to react, particularly as the gen noises are louder than the remaining killer groans that could alert you. Maybe it's just me though, or I'm just tired of it because it happened so many games just yesterday.

Solo Q survivor games absolutely need to be buffed. Having a base kit kindred effect would help immensely. As would a text based communication system to let team mates know what you are doing. Even voice comms would fix most the issues if they just gave survivors radios in-game to talk to each other.

They just have to buff gen kicking/regression to compensate. Make gen slow down perks not so necessary. Automatically regress gens 10% a kick (nerf PGTW to bonus 15%), and make regression 200% of what it is now so ruin isn't required to win matches against good teams.

Ofcourse killer would need a few extra buffs to deal with every team having the coordination of an SWF squad, but mostly this is it. Maybe speed up the window vault timing on the killer end so that certain loops aren't near infinites. It's often better right now to loop windows than most pallets which makes no sense at all.

The advantage of communication (which obviously does exist) is IMHO kind of overrated, at least as the one thing that "if we give solos comms, then we can buff killers". Killers beat many SWFs daily without any buffs.Throw 10% automatic regression, 200% regression and faster killer vaulting as base on top of current kit ... this is going to make not only most solo queue games even more miserable. The problem is that all communication is pointless if no-one can run the killer for longer than 15 seconds. So maybe you get two gens done instead of one. Wow. With the average survivors, the killer has a lot of pressure, whether they can communicate or not.

Unpopular opinion: the biggest problem is not really SWF on comms (many of them are talking about the day or weather, anyway). The problem is that SWF allows you to do what the matchmaking system fails to do in most cases, and that's matching a group of survivors of equal skill level. And if everyone in the group really excels at keeping the killer busy and everyone knows maps and loops inside out, the killer may have a rough time, whether they are on comms or not.

Comms will not turn a random bunch of red rank survivors of vastly different skill levels into a super squad that could deal with much stronger killers. The first step should be to improve ranking/matchmaking.

  • I do because of the tome challenge. I'm bad at flashlight saves and when I need to get pallet stuns, all killers usually respect pallets. Enjoy it while it lasts, I think this is far more fun than what will happen when level 4 drops.

  • Started off playing survivor exclusively. Then switched to killer exclusively. Now playing both, still more killer. I'd like to spend more time playing survivor again, though. The big hurdle here is the lack of an SWF group. As solo survivor is considerably less fun than killer, it's hard to find a reason to queue up as survivor.

Think I'm a good sport, I don't pretend to be the best player so I consider it natural that I screw up at times or lose to better players.

I have a selected number of favorite characters I'm playing. I max these out (P3 with all perks I've unlocked). However, I neither level all characters, nor do I unlock all teachables. This is my way of dealing with the grind given the time I have available.

As killer I never get tilted, as solo survivor quite a bit. I'm getting more calm over time, but I'm still not quite as good at shrugging off everything the game throws at me as other people are.

I did buy cosmetics, currently not so much any longer, but not because I wouldn't spend more money but because I'm happy with what I have for my characters.

I think we got everything we need tbh, we just need smarter teammates, and devs can't do anything about that.

The sad truth. Just tried playing survivor again the night before rank reset to see if the experience was any better. Got hooked. One survivor is obviously (gets hit ...) being chased by killer and the other two do a gen together. By doing a little math, the two survivors on the gen could have known that one of them should have come to help me. Instead I go into second phase, the gen pops, but do they come? No, they urban evade off even further away from me.

The survivor in chase notices and runs towards me with the killer on this heels, probably going for a desperate save because the others are doing nothing. Fortunately, the second hook skill check comes just in time before he can reach me so I can kill myself despite the recent solo nerf (no instant self-killing on second hook phase) and on scoreboard screen I see I did the right thing because he didn't have BT.

So, all the info is there and no-one does anything, and you want to know the best thing?

I ran Kindred so my three teammates had all that information even visualized, and those teammates were all rank 2-3.

The buff to solo queue is taking matchmaking in your own hands and running a hand-picked SWF.

Seriously, any solution to the solo problem must include changes to matchmaking/ranking. I am often watching new streamers discovering the game because it's so funny to watch when they start figuring out the game. The last one I discovered was rank 3 in a very short time after playing it a lot on stream. She was admitting herself she was still working out to use the camera to look behind her in a chase, had to figure out how to loop, didn't know killer perks well enough to recognize them. And here I am wondering how my red rank teammates play like they installed the game last week ... that's probably because they literally did and just played all day long.

  • Of course, there's no way it will be the daughters (or any other character from RE8). However, as someone who is not a big fan of the RE series for a number of reasons (I watched playthroughs of most of them but never felt like playing myself) and the "classic iconic" RE enemies one of which will most likely be the killer, just in terms of character design, the daughters are probably what I'd love to see most in DbD. I could imagine an interesting power could be built around the bug swarm. As for the more likely candidates, I'm not sure what a power would be that would make it special enough to interest me in playing the killer.

  • I am very disappointed as well. I play Huntress to throw hatchets. I feel like both ultra-rares are designed around encouraging the Huntress to not use her power without adding anything interesting to her gameplay. With one add-on I only have one hatchet so I don’t want to do any wild snipes but keep my precious hatchet for an occasion when it is impossible to miss. Otherwise reloading after every single throw gets super annoying.

The new one is IMHO the most stupid add-on in the game. I only benefit from it if I don’t have my power. If I regain it quickly as I should want, my ultra-rare is completely worthless. An iridescent add-on that allows me to play as a trappet without traps, wow.

I don’t even want anything super strong. I wanted the one-shot hatchets to go entirely. But if they want to keep it, I would have voted for the range requirement.

That's interesting, I never knew about this. This will be helpful for the next rift. Do you know exactly how much of a bonus it gives to the rift progression?

First game on each side gives you 300 bonus XP, if you play daily at least one killer and one survivor game, then this bonus adds up to a little over 5 rift tiers. If the required XP for a fragment is lowered as rumored, it'd be almost 8 1/2 tiers just from that daily bonus.

  • "1 day left" means "more than 24 hours and less than 48". Once it's less than 24 hours, it'll show the hours, and it'll show the remaining time in minutes when there's less than an hour time.

Their time zone is Eastern Time. I think the rift closes at 11:00 am ET tomorrow (Wednesday).

  • Well "low tier" is subjective, I do much, much better with her than, say, Oni who some people would probably rate as stronger than Pig.

Don't care about her RBTs, but "outdashing" survivors in chases is one of the most fun killer powers for me, her stun oink is cute, and I love getting my snoot booped.

They did? How many of the ones in my matches did you ask if they were in a swf or not?

I am playing solo, only solo because I sadly have no friends to play with. I am not a great player. Pretty good, better than the average survivor, but no way my skills are enough for red ranks. I pip literally every single game, no matter how bad it goes, feels like only at red ranks there's a slight chance to lose a pip from a really bad game. I'm not even using any meta perks, actually I am bored of meta this, meta that, every time a perk I love to use gets buffed and becomes common I stop using it and look for something else.

And I don't want to be at red ranks. Many red rank teammates are even worse than I am while killers are actually strong, I feel the only way of having fun as solo survivor in red ranks is if you can single-handedly carry a match against a sweaty meta killer, and I'm not good enough for that yet the rank system wants me to play there.

So yes, you can make it to red ranks solo without the skill you should have.

  • The Easter event I always wanted to see:

Make nests with painted eggs spawn on the map. Survivors can pick up eggs from the basket and throw them at the killers (Pebble animation). The more eggs hit the killer, the more they'll be covered in egg goo during the match. Just for the laughs.

Killers on the other hand can put bunny ears on downed survivors (Animation like Pig putting on RBT) to make them look cuter as their bunny ears stick out when they crouch behind boxes or other lower obstacles.

Sadly, there never was an Easter event, and there never will be one.

So you completely ignore the fact SWF is strong as hell and voice comms are op and even solos playing with them have huge advantage and focus on bad side (which makes games blanced)? Some people man...

I am playing enough solo with SWFs as teammates that I can say not all SWF are strong, many are even a burden rather than help without any penalties. SWF doesn't mean they're good players, and being able to tell the others "the killer is on me, do gens" is worthless if the player goes down before he could finish the sentence, which is a lot of SWF players. If SWF groups get any penalties, I don't think that's ok, but if it has to be, then I want an option to opt out of being matched with SWF groups.

SWF is good if they're good players, but four really good solo players are not that far behind. The current ranking/matchmaking does just rarely put the right solo survivors together.

  • I wouldn't say it's my last, but I'll definitely take a longer break from the game (yet again) after finishing the current rift.

I'd prefer to play it regularly as the time allows alongside other games worth playing, rather than super intensely as the only game I play for 70 days and then not loading into DbD at all for months to recover from burn out and play some other games I didn't have the time for in those 70 days.

  • You don't have to. This was already reported multiple times, anything you report will be closed as a duplicate, just creating unnecessary extra work for the devs. Better upvote an existing entry:

    hi

in a game (with doc) somes "survivors" found a exploit to get invicible in a zone near the exit gates in red forest (i was on Mother's Dwelling) there was a invisible wall that canno't be passed by killers so i dc and reported all the players in the game of course

    and there a video :

btw sorry for the resolution (i wanted to do a gif before so i needed it in low quality but it's still visible(i think))

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J76cFSBazuo

note : i'm not here to spread this exploit, i had no choice to rec this for be more clear in what i say

  • My experience:

I have played only a few matches so far on each side. 24 hours isn't really that much for the little time I have available to play. And among those I played, unfortunately one game the killer was just farming.

So, I took some time off from the game awhile ago because I was burnt out from rift grind and was rank 20 both roles not too long ago and still rather low ranks on both roles.

First, killer. I usually play this very late in the evening/night. Around that time I pretty often get sweaty squads lately that are rank 15-19 (however they manage to do this) when I'm really just playing chill without tryharding or meta perks. With the groups I recently got, I was often getting about 1-3 hooks all game. Don't mind too much, rather wondering how they enjoy such games, but this just for reference to how it was before MMR.

So I had to play Clown for a daily, I usually never play him and can't say I'm good with him. I had to wait unusually long for the time of day to get a match. The survivors were not that good and it wasn't a lot of fun as in "too easy if I had played seriously". I also don't like the "guess which locker someone's hiding in, otherwise you don't see anyone all game" play. Same repeated with a second Clown game, longer wait, rather easy game.

I then switched to another killer I play more often (Pig) and got instant lobbies. The survivors were suddenly rank 1-3 and notably better than in the Clown games but in a good way, those were really fair and fun games with tons of hooks and plenty bloodpoints for everyone. They played bold as I like it, but it was nothing like the low rank sweaty e-sport teams I kept running into these last days, rather folks who like me also just played to have fun.

This afternoon I played a few survivor games. I tend to avoid ranking up too high as long as I can, I don't have good experience with red rank teammates in solo queue when I was in red ranks myself, and with the "soft" rank reset it felt the red ranks got cluttered up more and more with not so good survivors. Since I was back at rank 20 only just recently, I'm currently at rank 12. These last days I played mostly with green/yellow rank players, with the odd matchmaking screwup here and there (e.g. rank 1 or rank 20 killers for a mid-rank group).

So with MMR on, I got suddenly thrown as rank 12 survivor into all red rank lobbies, and this time with actually good teammates. I was delighted as my main hope for the MMR were to get better teammates more often in solo queue.

So, overall a good experience for me, but as I said, I only played a few games due to time constraints. Unfortunately I can't play the remaining hours until it is switched off again. It would be interesting to have the MMR on for a longer time after any adjustments you may want to make.

  • I have it off (PS4). Mainly because of missing endgame chat, on console they can message me if they want. Even if most won't believe it, most messages from survivors after a match that are not just a simple "gg" are friendly and wholesome. Got some friendly conversations this way. I am sitting here all alone, if I couldn't get any messages any longer, it'd feel even more lonely.

  • @Sand said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/234193/waiting-times-at-night-over-15min

It takes .000001 seconds to find a killer game no matter what time of day. Just try killer out.

I just did. And waited a bit and then switched back to survivor, because I got a lobby instantly, like always around this time. I could barely switch from Kate to Claudette and boom! In a lobby.

Does this mean now that no-one wants to play survivor and we must buff survivors?

  • At least for me it's true. I prefer playing killer to solo survivor. I typically play late evening when killer queues are short and survivor queues longer, so it'd be beneficial for queue times if the challenges would allow me queueing as killer.

I still have to join the long survivor queues because there are so many survivor challenges, and those take (at least for solo play where I have almost no control over what happens in the match) many more games to complete than the fewer killer challenges. I feel like I always have the wrong challenge equipped for what happens in the game when I try the survivor challenges.

However, someone from BHVR once wrote here when someone raised the same concern that the ratio of survivor/killer challenges would not affect queue times, or that more killer challenges would negatively affect queue times.

  • @Seraphor said:

Even SWFs can be bad players, it stands for Survive With 'Friends', not Survive With 'your elite commando teabag squad'.

At most, I would see SWFs nerfed relative to their skill by way of the MMR score.

If two people join a lobby together, the MMR score for both is increased by 10%.

If three people join a lobby together, their MMR score is increased by 20%.

    All four? 40%.

This way, they will (ideally) be matched up with killers of a higher skill to account for the upperhand they have in using additional communication.

Obviously it falls apart at the highest skill level because there won't be any killers with a higher MMR score to match to, but then everything in this game falls apart when you have the elite clicky flashlight commando teabag squad anyway.

Not that I know a lot about MMR, but if somebody plays mostly SWF, I'd expect the MMR to reflect his strength in an SWF group so that it's not necessary to modify the MMR score (and if someone plays SWF once a week, then it shouldn't really matter).

One aspect of MMR was, the higher the MMR of your opponent in comparison to yours, the more you gain in MMR if you win. So you beat someone with 40% higher MMR because SWF, system says, hey, you beat someone better than you, here your MMR goes up by quite a bit! And next time you search for a lobby, your opponent is another 40% higher in MMR. Doesn't sound quite right to me. Particularly not as - you said it yourself - there are plenty of very average SWF groups.

I know their gonna brutally murder the exhaustion one because survivors can't live without their exhaustion perks for 90 seconds. It's a anti dead hard.

The addons are from a time when exhaustion still recovered while running, and recovered faster while crouching. All that has been removed, the addons are still 90 seconds. They should have been touched already when those changes were made, it's long overdue now.

  • Congrats, I'm not even that far. I'm desperately trying to get ten heals in solo queue. Either the killer camps everyone to death, no-one gets hit all game, or it's a "normal" match but everyone but me has self care and insists on getting his Survival points and refuses to let me heal him even though I run a fast heal build. I'm at two heals after six games.

Just in the 7th, I was able to heal someone again, but shortly after got chased by Billy and when I vaulted a pallet while Billy went into a chainsaw sprint, my game crashed. Now I'm sitting on a matchmaking ban and the heal did not even count towards the challenge.

I came back for the new tome after a six month break I took because I was burnt out from the challenges. Now we're not even at level 3 and I feel like I need to take another half year break from the game. Whatever they wanted to achieve with these challenges, it was not to try to motivate me playing the game.

Someone who runs straight to the killer and then suicides, isn´t exactly playing a real match is he?

A lot of the time someone hook suicides the killer is already dominating so much that the game is already lost.

Imagine the last survivors have all been slugged and killer is hooking them one by one. Someone decides it's not worth struggling for points and he can better move on to the next game while the killer is carrying the last survivor to his hook. Total domination, survivors destroyed, 4K. Killers: „That match shall not count for stats, a survivor hook suicided!!“

    What about matches where

    - the killer does intentionally not kill anyone (I do this, I just double-hook everyone and let them go)

    - it's a farming game

    - matches where the killer has killed three survivors, catches the last one and gives him hatch, shouldn't this count as a 4K for stats rather than 3k?

Uh I guess all that is welcome to be included in the stats, why not ask for kill stats where all matches are excluded where at least one survivor was sacrificed?

So, in some matches stuff happens that benefits the killer so he gets a higher kill rate. Other matches go so that kill rate is lower. Trying to remove the former from stats and keeping the latter is not really honest.

  • Why no hook suicides? Let’s either see real stats or none.

  • Not sure what queue times have to do with perks?

My queue times depend more on the time of day. In the afternoon, survivor queue times are so fast, when I start searching for a match and open my bloodweb to level a bit, I'm in a lobby before I have the chance to buy even a single node. If I try to play killer, I'm waiting much, much longer.

At night, survivor queues have always been much longer and killer queues faster, but they're still faster these days than months ago.

It could just as well be that the evening is the time when people want to virtually meet up and play with their friends, for which the survivor role is somehow better suited than killer.

Btw, I'm not bothered if I see survivor loadouts like those in the screenshot. For my killer playstyle, it means three survivor are playing with just two perks each.

  • I searched YT for a video of the good ol' unhook lag that once plagued particularly console players but also some PC players and watch it before starting DbD to remember that we had much worse patches than the current one. It was the only time in my personal DbD history that I quit the game for a while because it was actually unplayable. Until I gave up, every match I played, after every unhook, it was like this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tASxe6jgu3M

IIRC the only way to return to normal was to get into a locker after the unhook, but that was easier said than done.

  • They could certainly fix the hit/desync issue in 4.5.1. The thing is, this wouldn't mean you'd get it fixed any sooner, just that you'd get the fixes that are currently scheduled to go into 4.5.1 later.

  • Interesting, I thought I was the only one like that. I just love playing killer for the chases, not necessarily kills, and right now I still need to manually keep track of hook states. I have four pins and when somebody goes on second hook I flip that pin. When someone's hanging for a long time I watch out for the "Entity summoned" message.

I would really appreciate it if I could see more easily if a survivor is dead on hook. Then again, there are probably way more killers who would use that information to tunnel someone out of the game than those who use it for good causes.

And the intended, "normal" gameplay is probably to neither intentionally tunnel someone out as fast as possible, nor to be overly friendly, so the new hook progress counter is probably fine.

  • How I did it: I uploaded the video somewhere (e.g. Dropbox, private YT video) and opened a support ticket (support.deadbydaylight.com, there's a category for additional info for player reports) and put the link in that ticket.

Hope you reported in-game as well, because that's mandatory.

  • Well I don't know anyone else to play with, so I'm obviously always solo. Occasionally I'd love to SWF but I don't know where and how to find people that are pleasant to play with. Not even to play super voice-coordinated, that's not my playstyle, rather to have at least some fun talking with normal people if the game itself isn't fun because it's yet another killer playing as if DbD was some serious, competitive game.

  • What I'd want is a better matchmaking that matches me more often with players about my knowledge/ability level. I think solo games are pretty fine with good teammates, there are just too many survivors in ranks they shouldn't reach.

I wouldn't want voice comms. It'd ruin the solo experience for me. There's nothing as rewarding as awesome cooperation without voice comms. And without comms, I can at least pretend that I'm playing with friendly and intelligent teammates who usually play extremely well and just had a couple of blackouts in the last minutes.

Every time I see someone going into second phase on first hook because someone keeps running the killer around the hook, I always imagine how if I could tell that person: "Did you see there's a survivor hooked where you're running loops?" that person would reply: "Oops, sorry I was a bit distracted and didn't notice there was someone hooked. I'll take a hit and use the speed boost to get to another area where I can run the killer so that someone can make a save. Thanks for pointing out!"

If I was actually able to communicate, the reply would probably rather be "f--- o--" and all my illusion would be gone.

  • I am actually even more worried about the other point, the 4 man slugging potential. This has also been brought up a lot by Scorpionz, it is already horribly painful to watch, and probably even more painful and frustrating to be in such a game as survivor.

I see this playstyle a lot more than the remote face camp. I've just tuned in to a Twitch stream where the streamer was playing Twins, and it took about 90 seconds from when I started watching to witness yet another 4 man slug at 4 gens with Twins. I will from now on switch away from any stream where someone is playing Twins or against them, it's not fun at all.

As a 4 man SWF group you can probably prevent that to some extent by playing smart so that the killer doesn't get too much of an opportunity. If I'm playing solo and have no control over my teammates, there's nothing I can do if my three teammates don't play smart.

I really hope they fix these issues soon, I like the concept of the twins and would like to play them, I am mostly playing for fun so I don't need a super strong killer, but I don't want one I have to play "intentionally dumb" just because if I'd play "smart", I'd hate myself for it, and the other side would have a super boring game.

  • For me the addition of chat to console would be a must to toggle on the crossplay option again (that and server hit validation). The messages I get sent through PS4 messages are overwhelmingly positive, and as I don't have any friends to play with and talk to, I love the post game messaging and hearing that everyone's had a good game, sometimes I have some longer conversations with survivors. It'd feel weird to play a multiplayer game and have absolutely no opportunity to talk to other players and be essentially still alone with no contact opportunities.

And with everyone talking about toxicity and asking with what builds they can make the other side cry, every time I get a friendly message from someone who liked playing the match with me I'm happy to realize there are also other players simply because everyone having fun is so much more satisfying for me than just me having fun and how do I know if they can't say.

As long as the chat can be closed, asking to not bring cross-platform chat because you don't like it is kind of like someone who doesn't want cross play for some reason to demand the complete removal of the crossplay option for everyone and only let people of the same platform play together.

In the end I don't care though, as long as they leave me with the choice to disable crossplay. I'm just a single player of zero importance and noone will miss me in crossplay, so I get it that noone will implement the chat because I miss it.

  • They seem to go back to rifts with more grind, maybe the last ones were too easy to complete. Last time I counted I came up with 345 fragments from the new tome - that's only five more than we got from tome 1. Tome 2 had 393 fragments, tome 3 even 408. Fortunately there's absolutely nothing in the new rift I'm even remotely interested in, so I'll take a break from rift grinding and keep the tome challenges as a blood point source when new interesting characters come out.

  • The MMR might even be working fine. All they said was that it proved to be extremely accurate at predicting the outcome of the match - and it might have correctly predicted for your killer matches that they were extremely in your favor so the problem would be with the "revamped" matchmaking algorithm they said they would still "tweak this part of the system".

I am one of the few people who are supporting the devs' decision to keep MMR hidden and hope they keep it that way. However, what I would be fine with and what I think would be interesting at this point would be to see the system's prediction of the outcome after the match. If it said "balanced match" and you dominated clearly then the MMR calculated over the last months is not as good as they claimed in their post. If it said "in favor of the killer" then it's the new matchmaking algorithm that still came up with too many unsuitable matches.

haha sorry man I guess devs dont care about our question even though they said they would answer in the forums.

I would also love more indepth information about the new MM system. So we could give our feedback BEFORE they release it then refuse to change it ever again.

They never said they would answer random threads in the forums. The post said they would prepare more posts on how the system works (which will likely be posted here on the forums which is why they said you should keep your eyes on them). It would be super inefficient for them to post the same answers in dozens of threads that differ only by author and then they've only covered this forum and next time someone comes in he won't look for old threads but post yet another one.

For stuff like this it is much better they explain the things of interest in detail in a central place and point to it on their socials / forum header, or do a Q&A stream.

Right now they're still doing the live Xbox test. They should probably get the chance to evaluate how it turned out before they go into some detail that may be changing again due to the result of these tests.

  • Solo queue can actually be the most satisfying experience in the game with great teammates. The most fun matches I had were solo queue when it was down to a 2vs1 in the end and with co-op and both actually still doing something and making the right decisions, we both made it out in the end.

It just happens too rarely and frustrating matches with "meh" teammates making stupid decisions are too frequent, so I quit playing survivor for now. I hope the new matchmaking improves things a bit, otherwise I'll look for an SWF group when I want to start playing survivor again in future.

For now I love playing killer. If I fail, I'm responsible for it alone, so I stay calm all the time and don't need to get upset about anyone. And the best about playing killer: every match I load into is guaranteed to have no tunneling, no camping, no mori, and no boring slug for the sweaty 4k.

The "super SWF teams" that many complain about and want to balance this game for may exist but they are maybe 1 match out of 50 whereas solo I can play an entire day and have nothing but bad matches if the wrong people are online. At that point I only keep playing to have a single fun match, but I only get more and more angry and frustrated with every match. Not worth it.

  • Actually, someone posted here mid-June that Patricia from BHVR said on Discord that MMR would come in October. I didn't see the original Discord message though. If it's true that they're currently aiming for October, that means we'll live with the current system until at least December, if not early 2021.

  • Next tome and rift will come with the mid-chapter patch later this month, maybe a day or two after the patch.

The PTB for the mid-chapter patch opened last Tuesday, and the devs usually aim to push the patch live three weeks later, so most of the community will expect the patch to be released on the 28th. If there are still release-critical bugs that need to be ironed out then it may take a few days longer and in this case the next tome/rift would start later as well.

  • They work exactly as the achievement texts say: you need a merciless victory with the killer's teachable perks. "Merciless victory" means you need to see the "Merciless killer" message in the end screen which you get if you double pipped. To double pip in red ranks you need all four iridescent emblems. If you were in purple ranks, 3 iridescent and 1 gold would have been sufficient and you would have gotten your achievement.

  • I like playing killer. I don't have an SWF (sadly, if it was enjoyable I'd prefer playing survivor) and I don't see why I should be playing the least enjoyable role that gets zero attention from the devs (solo survivor). The terrible matchmaking and the changes to ranking and pipping (= terrible teammates pushed into the red ranks, I don't think I belong there myself and others are even worse than me) were too much for me - I maybe enjoy 1 out of 20 matches as solo survivor. I deranked myself back into the purples, and survivors there are much better and actually do useful stuff and it's a thrilling game, but the game still insists to throw me into red rank games with red potato survivors doing nothing but being victims of a slaughter with 4-5 gens left undone.

Plus, I feel like I can really make a positive impact on the game as killer. I often get nice messages after the game, especially recently. Yesterday I played only four games, but after two of them people sent not just a gg but thanked me for playing extremely fair and it was one of the few matches they enjoyed that evening. I'm not a very competitive person, but I am very happy when everybody had fun in the game.

  • Tier 60 with 26 challenges left. This is the most grindy rift ever for me. I am feeling extremely exhausted, particularly as I need to play survivor almost exclusively when I'd rather have fun playing killer.

Isnt Plunderers bad for Event Item Hunting? Since they cost 3k BPs in the Bloodweb, I would think they are of common rarity in the Chests, but Plunderers lets you loot high Rare Items, meaning you will get Keys and Maps and stuff like that.

The event items are of a "special event" rarity, so their appearance can be tuned independently of other rarities. If Plunderers works how I assume it does then the chance of getting an event item should be the same with or without Plunderers.

Ì am trying to do 360 seconds of co-op actions and I am averaging 5-10 seconds per game because nobody doubles on gens. I have been on it the entire day about 8 hours. I'm just tired.

You're not alone there. I got 11 seconds in the first game. I'm currently doing this challenge and play match after match after match ... now finally at 220 seconds. Worst thing about it, I use Bond to find people to coop with, and I learn why every game is a 4k for the killer: my teammates are just aimlessly running around the map, crouching in corners, watching others getting chased ... no opportunity for coop. Can't wait to get Bond off again so I don't have to watch the misery.

  • It's very likely your controller, even if you don't notice problems in other games I'd connect it to a computer and check it with a test tool to make sure that the left stick works fine (alternately, you could try running with the stick pushed down and see if you still slow down, as it's possibly only faulty in one direction). I once had the problem of randomly slowing down as well, and it turned out to be my DS4. This problem is usually reported by PS4 players, and the DS4 is known to develop problems with the sticks more often than other controllers.
