  • IMO there are dozens of ways of relaxing that do not involve ruining other peoples' evening, many of which don't involve juggling the seemingly contradictory points of doing that relaxing activity while also maintaining a competitive mindset.

  • they were just in a foul mood and taking it out on you. not fair to you, but you gotta recognize there's nothing you can do about it, sometimes people have it in their head they have to be unreasonable

  • it is fair, anyone that cares that much about 4k's outside of adept, archive challenges, and organized competitive matches is a big ol' crybaby

  • I imagine for a game that has 30k peak simultaneous players on steam alone they need to triage their report tickets and allegedly teaming isn't as high priority as hackers

  • Honestly bring back eruption to how it was before the original buff. It was a decent slowdown options overshadowed by better perks

  • I like the idea but I can see it being perceived as BM.

In Dota 2, there's a feature that lets people tip other players in-game with the Dota equivalent of BP. Often people will give a tip to an opponent they just killed, as if to say "thanks for feeding me a free kill." Dota leans into the culture of toxicity in a way that works for that game, but it is worth keeping in mind, especially since I see a lot of complaints about toxicity elsewhere on the forum

  • -That's what the perk Game Afoot does. If you weren't running Game Afoot then it's a bug

-The game gives DC penalties for going AFK to discourage people giving up by other means

If you keep 4 alive there is much longer time 3 people can keep hitting gens. My strat is to down someone then go pressure gens down another then get another and the once one of them get second hook I tunnel them out. If survivors gen rush do 2-3 gens first chase then I just hard tunnel.

Once it's 3vs1 survivors can barely do gens that's when you can easily snowball and keep them off gens. Never has worked for me just guarding gens at the start and waiting easy down survivors get way too much gen progress in that time. Snowball in that situation relies too much on luck.

With corrupt you can patrol 4 gens instead of 7 for the first 2 minutes; you get 10 of your 35 gatekeeper points basically for free and having a start like that all but guarantees a gold gatekeeper emblem.

As long as you're getting quick starts and ends to chases you'll be keeping 1 hooked, 1 chased and 1 going for rescue so after the first chase it's basically only ever 1 person on gens, not 3 (and if you're efficient with your corrupt the survivors shouldn't even all have room to be hitting gens all that time)

  • I have to disagree. Tunneling one person early on gives 3 people time to hit gens, reducing your gatekeeper score. Tunneling one person also makes it possible that your total number of chases gets reduced, leading to a lower brutality and chaser score. I find splitting pressure across the map, spending my first minute or so defending gens and sussung out who may be a quick down, then using the pressure of my first hook to snowball and keep people off gens to be far more effective than tunneling. It is worth noting you do need to be decent at finishing chases quickly in order for my strat to work though, so there's that

  • unrelated but I had a wraith push me out of the way on a one-way window the other day. like I was squarely in the center of the window running at it so I could medium vault if he uncloaked and he somehow managed to window block me as I was waiting? is that a thing

  • they're not forced to immediately self-unhook. they're allowed to use the free unhook at any time, for example, at 59 seconds, right before going next hook stage. they can maximize time on hook (when you're camping, not disrupting other gens) far more efficiently than any survivor going for the unhook. also, they can self unhook on second stage. what you're essentially doing by tunneling in that scenario is giving 3 survivors a bare minimum of 2 extra minutes each to work uninturupted on gens.

even if it takes only 30 seconds for each chase and 15 seconds to find the survivor you want to tunnel, if you play that way the one survivor you've interacted with all game will be unhooking themself from second hook as the last gen pops.

  • survivors when eruption: "the idea of preventing people working on gens for a little while is fine, just maybe bump the numbers down somewhat and let us do non repair stuff, it's quite overtuned right now"

killers when made for this: "make it make survivors weaker. make it kill the survivor instantly"

Would have to disagree. Too many killer perks set up fir an endgame such as no way out, NOED, remember me, blood warden, etc. All of that really depends on the surprise of it. Otherwise, it's easily counterable. Know the killer will have the exits blocked? You know to tap and run when it's completely safe. Know he has noed? Just clear out the totems before the endgame even begins. Not able to piece together that the killer has an aura reading perk? That's on you for not figuring that information out in the match.

How is someone gonna counter those endgame perks if they and everyone they queued with are dead

I did not say that. Read again. I said that a living human is better than a living bot.

You were responding to someone who said they intentionally die on first hook as a way of avoiding the DC penalty. the scenario they presented was one where they were offering either themselves (dead) or a bot (alive) as the two options, and that the bot is the better of those two choices.

With your first post I thought you were making an ill-advised attempt at a dunk. With this response I'm genuinely concerned at the disconnect between the content of the original post and your response

This is an asymmetrical multiplayer game. 1 vs 4. In a 1 vs 4, the 1 has to be stronger individually than the 4 individually. So how do the 4 win? By using teamwork and all pulling their weight. That’s how you balance an asymmetrical game.

Do you not think that in the 1 v 1 (meaning in the chase) the killer is and should be stronger than the survivor?

Think of it this way. The killer can ultimately only chase one survivor at a time. Now imagine if that survivor moved as quickly as the killer. On top of having things like strong pallets and windows. No one would play killer lol.

When you said "the killer is as strong as the four survivors" I thought you meant "[the killer] is as strong as [the four survivors]"

The way you describe it here is better described as "[the killer] is as strong as [any one survivor from the set of four]"

And I don't think that any survivors think that all 5 players should individually be as strong as each other - that survivors should match evenly with killers in the 1v1. I think they think that the two sides should be balanced but they feel that killers, as they stand now, have far too many tools at their disposal and killers are advantaged to such a degree in the 1v1 that survivors don't stand a chance even in the 4v1. I disagree with survivors who assert that outside of a few notable exceptions, but I feel your characterization of survivors exact desire, even with that more reasonable clarification, is inaccurate

Bots are good around the safest structures in the game. As long as the killer doesn't use their power. Or perks to help them. Or a pallet is pre dropped. And don't get me started on gen efficiency, healing, unhooking and other decisions. If you can't play better than a bot, then you have different issues other than dc penalties.

You mess up and instead of playing the game like normal and doing better you make it everyone else's problem. This is the equivalent of saying: "I only play as long as my match is easy mode and everything works in my favor." Don't play the game, if you don't like it. Don't even queue up. Play something that's genuinely fun for you. Preferrably a single player game, so you don't ruin anyone else's match.

I mean you're not wrong that people who frequently rage quit should play something else, but they were pretty unambiguously making a comparison between having a bot teammate and having a teammate that committed 96% into missed skill checks. If you think "a living bot is better than a dead human" is somehow an own on the human, uh, why?

  • why are you saying "the survivors think that the survivors and the killer should be equal" is like a bad thing? the only way I can interpret a statement like that is "oh no, the survivors want the game to be balanced and fair, how dare they! clearly the only fair thing would be for the game to be balanced disproportionately in favor of one player! we should definitely strive make sure the minority of players get an easy game at the expense of making it nigh-unwinnable for the majority of players, not any of that making-the-game-balanced-for-everyone nonsense." surely you can't mean that, but I can't figure out what you do mean; please try to clarify

  • juiced a xeno for 4 gens last night using just shack, a jungle gym, and a cow tree (with i guess a couple filler pallets as well after all the gens popped). really wish i'd gotten a video

  • it's a really weird map. it feels super big but statistically it's the smallest map, who knows how this game works lmao

  • yeah, not much you can do in that scenario except bang gens and hope your teammate learns from their mistake, fair enough

  • just don't go down near basement against trapper? it's basically your one lose condition against him

  • love how, on this forum, exclusive one-role players on both sides have convinced themselves that BHVR has a blood vandetta against their role and always gives [other role] everything they want and more solely to spite [their role]. truly amazing how prevalent these posts are

  • I've seen as many people complaining about the complainers, maybe even more

  • Exclusive killer players when an exclusive killer player gets called out by the devs for making an overdramatic complaint, trying to not make more overdramatic complaints

How BBQ helps you tunnel? It supposed to do opposite if you mean getting someone else down and hooked with it help and then seeing earlier survivor with BBQ and going after them that is not tunneling. That's being smart.

It's a joke about the double meaning of the word "tunnel" and how the Alien uses underground passages, or Tunnels, to get around the map.

Anything that helps the killer in any way, helps them 3-gen, camp, tunnel, and slug. This is common knowledge.

i mean, i can kind of see that the tunnels being near gens can be used to get killer instinct on survivors as you patrol a 3 gen via tunnels, thus making it easier to punish them and hold the 3 gens, and the same goes for tunnel exits near hooks; there is a bit more to the argument than simply "killer have tool means those tools necessarily will enable the killer to tunnel and 3 gen"

but I do ultimately agree with you, that that's not the case with this killer & OP's concerns are misguided. you need to spent time going in and out of tunnels in order to take advantage of the killer instinct, which is not condusive to either 3 gens or tunneling; the downsides of using the killer instinct portion of the power to employ those strategies far outweigh the little assisance they give in accomplishing those goals. furthermore, the killer power is far better at enabling global map presence and spreading pressure across multiple survivors, the exact opposite of what the OP's worried about. i suspect OP just happened to play against a couple killer players who were weak with the actual interesting parts of Xenomorph's kit but did know how to tunnel / 3gen.

You're arguing a point here I was never trying to make my taking my comment both out of context and as literally as possible. The discussion is about slugging for the 4k when there are two survivors left. I wasn't saying that each and every down should be a guaranteed kill. I was saying that in the scenario where there are two survivors left (the killer has already gotten a minimum of 6 hook stages while preventing the survivors from completing their objective), and a 4K is in sight and all he has to do to secure that 4k is leave a person on the ground for a bit, then yeah, he's earned the 4K.

Fair enough, I thought you were arguing "one down should always equal one hook" which is a point I've seen unironically posted here before, but rereading it should have been clear that wasn't the case, my bad. I didn't mean to misrepresent you but I did misunderstand when you were fairly clear and that's on me.

I would argue that you're wrong; the game is 5 gens + exit gates for survivor or 12 hook states across 4 survivors for killer. If 6 hooks + 1 down is a valid win condition for killer, then it should equally be fair for 4 completed gens (or fewer if a survivors have been eliminated) + 1 hatch opened with a key to be a valid win con for survivors. Slugging for the 4k after getting barely over half the intended objective done is, IMO, comparable to the old hatch mechanics in terms of bypassing the supposed standard win condition, and equally frustrating for the majority of the player base who plays casually for fun.

The devs never implemented mechanics that allow you to heal from the dying state. They implemented features in the forms of perk, there is a difference. Maybe you should start using them if this happens so frequently and bothers you so much.

the devs have, however, implemented plenty of in-game mechanics that allow survivors to avoid getting put on hook even after being downed. maybe instead of acting as if you're entitled to a hook... sorry, to a "kill" (your word) on downing a survivor, and then accusing others of being entitled, you should instead try reading the tutorial tips that teach players the various ways of avoiding getting hooked after going down, and then try rereading my extremely sarcastic post reminding you of those mechanics that directly contradict your assertion that down = hook or down = kill.

this isn't about me being bothered by anything, this is about you forgetting a large percentage of the features of this game you ostensibly play a lot of

  • @Chordyceps said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3525920#Comment_3525920

The killer got the down so he deserves the kill, its as simple as that really.

exactly, thats why pink moris are base kit on all killers, there's only one hook state per survivor so killers can use them on first down, and why BHVR has never implemented mechanics that allow players to heal up from the dying state. a killer's managed to down a player once, therefore they deserve to eliminate the player from the game without any further necessary actions.

  • I got 7 sacrifices across the 2 killer games I played last night using random perks both times

  • how is it possible for survivors to finish 3 gens in 50 seconds?

you'd have to have 3 survivors spawn on different gens and start repairing within 1 second

each would need to have a Commodious Toolbox with BNP and the Charges Addon as well as each having Streetwise

in addition, they would either need to all have Hyperfocus and hit 7 great skill checks in a row, or hit 13 skill checks in a row without Hyperfocus.

alternatively, if they all had Deja Vu and they all happened to start on the three generators that were closest together, at the exact same time, they would only need to hit 6 Hyperfocus skill checks (10 normal skill checks) to finish 3 gens in 50 seconds

if any one of those conditions is not met, then the only other possible options are you miscounted the number of seconds, or one of the survivor players was cheating.

  • my guy had to be taking the piss there's no way, how can someone seriously be that full of themselves 😭😭😭

  • @Deathstroke said:

That was not outplaying I handicapped myself not using tunneling/camping and 7 hooks before trying first kill. And still get punished by bodyblocking playing that fairly. If I would just tunneled earlier I would get someone out 3-4 gens left and ez win but now I had to work so much for the win. It's not worth to play fairly.

I don't understand. You seem to be complaining about survivors forcing protection hits in your original post, what does that have to do with choosing not to tunnel?

  • The damage that winstreak videos have done to people's perception of healthy gameplay is incalculable.

What you are complaining about, when we get down to it, is that you briefly thought you might not win one (1) game because you got outplayed in one instance, so please give tools so that you no longer have to even possibly worry about getting outplayed in that way.

Sometimes you lose games, this wasn't even one of those games. If everyone always was able to win without having to worry about getting outplayed the game simply wouldn't exist, you can't have a comfortable 100% win rate for both sides in a PVP game.

I don't even necessarily disagree with you that we need more options to punish players for taking hits, I just hate seeing this attitude from people of "I almost didn't win this one time, remove my opponent's counterplay" from either side.

If you want to punish bodyblocking try using Forced Pennance, it doesn't cause exposed but it causes Broken, which in your case would have blocked the Adrenaline heal. Might be nice to have more options, but if you're really concerned about people taking hits that's an option for now

  • On my server it's pretty consistently survivor +100% most of the time, meaning there's no shortage of killer players. The one exception is from 6 PM to about midnight; I assume this means there's a fairly consistent supply of killer players and the survivor players are mostly playing in the evening.

Nothing should be done to further slow gens down because all that does is help top tier killers and tunnelers/campers. Sure is it garbage when a very coordinated swf blows through gens in under 5 minutes? Yep. But this isn’t what happens in the overwhelming majority of games.

Shhh, I'm trying to come up with a change that will make weaker killer players who think they're getting gen rushed every game feel like they're getting something meaningful by buffing a number that practically has little-to-no effect (the regression from a perkless gen kick)

  • you can use something OP and recognize it's OP and needs to be nerfed imo. like i use MFT but that's because it's too good not to use it RN and i think it should be nerfed.

i also don't face enough blights to complain about blight addons though so moot point i guess

Only thing this change does is increase the time it takes for you to be killed for no legitimate reason.

The game is over, you're not going to do however many gens you have left when you unhook straight into the killer.

All this boils down to is "I want a chance to waste the killers time a bit more even though i clearly lost the game"

Chases are fun (self unhook would allow one more of them) and the hatch mechanic exists

While playing killer, if the last survivor manages to kobe I would want to give them hatch out of respect for the luck.

While playing survivor, I don't want to make a smart play and go down midmap with Deli while my teammates are working an exit gate, only to have my Deli cucked by teammates leaving before the prompt shows up

  • what if keys showed your aura to other survivors within a certain range. like, basekit, without needing to use charges.

You still make no valid argument as to why you, rng'd as the obsession deserves a second shot at hatch when the game is clearly over.

I'll always point out that for you to reach 0 hooks to endgame, you atleast threw your last teammate under the bus to reach that state, theres no reason as to why you wouldn't go for the rescue yourself if your team is all death hook.

The match is over, theres no legitimate reason as to why you should be allowed to waste the killers time just so you get a second chance at the consolation prize.

Because you can try to self unhook in all other contexts. It doesn't make sense IMO to have this be an exception
