I was using huntress. They way you guys try to make this argument makes me wonder if you guys bully others.
What exactly about any replies in this thread makes you wonder "if you guys bully others"? I really can't see it at all.

Hard to do with subtle speed hacks
What on earth does that have to do with anything? That's like someone getting the tip "try to break LOS and be unpredictable" vs Nurse (which is a good general tip!) and they just say "Hard to do when the Nurse has wallhacks" in response.
Any issues someone has that can be considered balance issues is completely seperate to concerns of cheaters and anticheat solutions.
-
Honestly haven't noticed any difference myself at least. If anything it's a net gain in Funny as it's mostly just people playing normally (whatever that means for them), but I've had a few goofy moments involving the snowmen as well.
Some people will always look for a way to be obnoxious during events no matter what, but BHVR has come a long way in "grief-proofing" events since the days of very limited event gens killers could throw entire matches to keep from popping and event hooks that could be sabo'd repeatedly and stuff like that.
-
Aura perks are fine imo, they're a perk that isn't from one of the perk categories people tend to dislike.
And on the "horror game" part, horror is not a theme resilient to repeat exposure. DBD is a game people play for hundreds if not thousands of hours, unlike a ~2 hour horror movie or a singleplayer horror game. It was inevitably going to be a game that is horror themed at most once you graduate from "New Player" status.
-
Still just confirming what I've known to be true for years on my end (Northern EU) - there's more survivors around as it gets later. Survivor 100% most of the day, as it gets later it creeps to at least 25% on killer and sometimes/when it gets late enough usually 100% killer.
-
Huntress. Just using her power has always been fun for me so I'm gonna have a good time regardless.
Been enjoying Wesker a lot lately too for similar reasons.
-
Seeing their items, survivor choice and outfits? Yes. Actually gameplay relevant information.
Names and profile access? Should be gone, luckily the anonymous modes at least exist. Not gameplay relevant information and for every neat interaction like "Mori me Piggy" getting mori'd by Pig and everyone having a laugh at it, there's at least 2 cringy "rivalries" of the bad sort or people being able to go to someone's profile to rage comment without even getting a chance to cool down while manually looking up their profile.

Hate to use Smite as an example, but they use quickchat. Something like "Press Q for a menu of 6 options for quickchat"
The "VGS" or whatever it's called system quite a few Hi-Rez games has is honestly pretty good once you get used to it. With the many nested layers you can have some pretty damn complex messages if you want so it's a very good game to use as an example if you ask me.

I think it depends on where / when you are playing. My bonus is almost exclusively on killer at all times, occasionally survivor but not often and when it is thats when it's all baby survivors and solo Q is worst.
It does, and it's practically common knowledge (and has been for years) that there's more survivors around at night. So in no way saying your experience isn't real or anything, but it's very far removed from my experience even though the two can totally co-exist.

yeah theres a bonus because no one wants to play it
Damn I guess nobody wants to play survivor a lot of the time then as I sure see survivor 100% way more than killer 100% or even 25%.
-
Oh, what the system blocks has very little to do with stuff being offensive. Isn't "Myers", "Rancor" and some other stuff that are just straight up characters or parts of the game blocked?
My mild tinfoil theory is that the system associates people mentioning things that are part of the game in a negative way, assuming people won't type the name of a perk unless they're complaining about it or something? But that doesn't explain why I've seen lobbies where player A can say "rancor" just fine but player B gets bleeped out when typing it, that one really makes me think ๐ค
-
All 5 players should have their latency displayed in the lobby.
For profiles they should be 100% inaccessible from in-game for both survivors and killers, preferably hidden from stuff like recent player lists as well. Not match relevant information like seeing what item a survivor has and most of the time used for dodging, cringy grudges and toxicity.
With one exception: if you add someone that's cool to the in-game friends list you can invite people to swf/customs from, you can find their profile in case you're on the same platform and want to add eachother.
And yes, of course you can still dig up someone's profile if they're not using some kinda anon mode. But the slightly higher effort required would give angry people some time to cool off, immediately making a lot of would-be profile comment ragers realize "that actually that's pretty weird I shouldn't do that actually"
-
I'd imagine Discord will make its way to consoles in like, the pretty near future.
Until then personally I've used some really scuffed solutions, like using Playstation Remote Play to join PS party chats with my friends while I'm on PC for other games than DBD where the in-game chat option is either missing or just plain bad. It's a weird way to do it but it just works ๐
-
Because the killswitch has nothing to do with balance and never did. It's for stuff like maps that straight up make people crash or maps with stuff like uncleansable/unsnuffable totem spots as far as maps are concerned.
Like come on if you just look at the history of when the killswitch has been used this should be fairly obvious.
-
I want some sick mid-late 1300s Italian fashion as well, but I am also quite happy to have this ngl
-
I do both that while nodding + wait for and nod at the killer if they go for a glyph. I find little interactions like that funny, bonus points if the other player nods back ๐

Wonder would say this regarding a Survivor complaint.
Who knows. If it is bad enough Killers will โadaptโ by playing something else! Enjoy your 20 min queues to go against sweaty Starstruck Nurses I suppose.
For sure man I've only heard that like 10 if not 20 times before and then nothing like it happens but I'm sure this time will be different!
-
I don't lie though, but even that doesn't seem to be good enough.
I am entirely serious when I say I haven't played anything but solo, duo and killer since like... early-mid 2020. I am completely open about that if asked and so is my duo partner, and that doesn't stop absolute weirdo people from just straight up accusing me of lying anyway, INSISTING that we're actually secretly a 4man specifically.
-
I use my mouse to make my camera face in their direction then press the W key, they either leave pretty quickly or die. Oh I have to hit them? That complicates things slightly, throw in some M1 and/or M2 presses depending on the killer to achieve the same end result.
-
They were mad that what they were doing didn't work, AND they weren't able to just keep it to themselves and move on like a mature person.
Really that simple honestly.
-
Already said, but play however you want to play and don't be a hypocrite. If you do that, you're all good.
So don't play "hard" and then start uncontrollably seething when your opponent(s) dare to do the same, basically.
-
Simple, straightforward and with a little bit extra (the speedboost for delivering to a rift) on top of the points as well.
Good event that was both non-intrusive and without the more wacky griefing potential of "I'm gonna throw the match to sabo event hooks" or "I'm gonna leave chase to catch and facecamp the glowy survivor I see 52 meters away instead" from events in the past as well.
-
Firstly, you don't "deserve" a kill in a situation like that any more than a survivor "deserved" the escape just because they made it to the exit gates and got downed and picked up in them.
However, I do agree that for a whole lot of reasons it would help if the hatch essentially counted as a kill as far as points, pips and any achievements/challenges are concerned. The killer did already win from a mmr viewpoint, a kill-based viewpoint and a lot of the time from an emblem viewpoint. And it's already treated as a neutral result mmr wise so it's a sorta logical next step that doesn't actually impact gameplay in any way.
-
Considering they also have brown perks which I always forget were ever a thing there's something weird going on. No clue if it's the game being incredibly confused or some sort of really bizarre cheater related thing, all I know is that I want that "quality" used for something because that looks pretty cool ๐
-
Huntress. Her power is fun to use and hitting hatchets is satisfying, simple as.
-
They go to neutral and sometimes to 50/100% killer as it gets later for me. Northern-ish EU.
And it makes perfect sense too, because of the "Play killer when alone, play survivor when friends are on" demographic. When is it most likely the highest amount of people are free from school/work/other obligations? Evening and night.
-
I'd prefer if it was simply a FOV increase because I've had my fill of default settings being just plain bad and inferior from playing a lot of TF2, where standard fov values (both general fov and how much of your screen your gun takes up) are set at very uh, outdated levels. Yes, you just have to open the options menu, but the amount of new players that never figure it out... But sure, do add a FOV slider but please make sure to advertise it, maybe even show it on first game launch with a picture you can see at different FOV levels so people are 100% aware that it's an option.
For me it's all about being able to see more and how some actually feel physically uncomfortable playing with low fov though. 360s, fov tech and all of that are just some of the MANY "knowledge checks" in the game that come from everything from perks to base mechanics. Should stuff like performance and controls (especially on console) be improved? Of course, that's very important and would help a lot when it comes to dealing with stuff like that.
-
It's actually far from a bad perk, it's just that you need a variety of celestial objects to align perfectly to actually get anything resembling use out of it with random teammates.
Really should tell everyone that the dude on the hook has the perk ready to be activated at the very least. With that it would immediately be better, obviously you'll never fix someone activating the perk then crouching near the hook for the entire duration anyway even if the killer is a statue but at least then the people that are genuinely trying to play well will have the information to do so.
-
I don't even like 99% of the "special" backgrounds/animated avatars on Steam but that background is actually super sweet. Avatars aren't super obnoxious either.
Nice work honestly!

Then why can you opt out of Cross play?
Because at least Sony used to actually refuse to even participate in crossplay back when it started becoming popular, and pretty sure it's still mandatory for any developer wanting to use crossplay on a Sony console to include an option to turn it off.
I'm entirely serious. I am absolutely convinced that if it wasn't for stuff like this, crossplay would very rarely be possible to opt out of as from a queue time and player count perspective it's basically a pure positive from a developer and/or publisher viewpoint.
EDIT: Basically an example of an industry-level decision that quite simply exists on a level "above" any individual game having an impact. Another example is how any and all interference with party chat on Xbox is just straight up not allowed or possible.
-
I honestly don't even know where people see this stuff, most of the time if I'm solo and with a 3man they do stuff like good saves on me just like on eachother. Like 2man saves where one takes a hit, runs off and the other saves to prevent a trade. When they do leave me on the hook it's in the situations where I genuinely want to applaud them for doing so. Please do when it's a killer like Bubba just camping me to death not even near any generators or ... anything else, lmao.
Not saying people are lying, before someone takes it that way, I just don't experience it. And back when I did play in teams bigger than 2mans like ever whenever we did a 3man we actually had a pretty good time making getting the solo out by any means necessary a fun side objective ๐
-
They need to actually have energy AND you need to have space to store the energy as well. If you're at 15/15 ready to deliver it won't count as far as I know, and if you've made it all the way to 30/30 you can't do it at all.
Blast mine can be a pretty good way to do it. If the killer comes to your gen from a fresh hook it's fairly likely they have some energy, just makes sure to at most be at 12/15 out of the 15 at a time cap. And when perks like eruption, overcharge and call of brine are fairly popular there's plenty of killers that will kick either any gen they can or any gen with more than like 20% on it.
And the most guaranteed way to make sure they actually have some energy is actually flashlight saving. Yes, the little stun when the survivor gets off their shoulder after a flashlight save counts, and as they just downed a survivor unless they delivered before picking up they will have energy. Obviously a bit trickier than blast mine/pallet stunning them though.
-
Because there's a time limit to how long they can possibly do so, as EGC nicely performs its one and only real purpose this way.
Of course they don't actually have to get to stand there for the full duration of EGC to begin with, as pressing the W key with your camera facing in their direction will very quickly put them in a "leave or die" situation. But if you absolutely don't want to go there, the Entity got you covered.
And for the record I'm all for ways for both sides to skip wastes of time without any interaction with the other. Add a lever in the basement that instantly makes all survivors in any state other than sacrificed or killed escape once a gate is open (or hell, even once the last gen is done), and let survivors either teleport themselves onto a basement hook or crawl over to a hook and hook themselves with no opportunity to attempt escape if certain conditions are met. While people waiting until 0.00000000042 seconds is left of EGC isn't equal to being bled out for 4 minutes (as you can't press W in the killer's direction to skip the bleedout like you can with survivors waiting around) the feeling of wasted time is indeed shared and I'd be 100% for ways to speed it up without the other side's cooperation.

My stance is: If survivors want to wait around until the last nanosecond all the power to them. Me personally, Iโll push them out to speed up the process.
Okay, that's fair. Just wanted to make sure I didn't waste my time responding to a post by some hypocrite that is fine with one type of ultimately pointless waste of time, while getting mad about another ๐๏ธ The only thing people like that deserve is a string of matches so bad they uninstall permanently and improve the community a little bit by doing so.
Guess that shows my stance on bleeding people out for no "tactical" reason as well, don't really agree with it just like I find gate lurkers pretty meh. Not because it's toxic or whatever, but just because it's a waste of time imo. At least with the gate situation the killer can indeed just chase them out (that's what I do too), wish there was a way for survivors to just teleport themselves onto a basement hook or something for the bleedout situation to get it over with faster.
Because yeah, I'd just hook them. And I'll take survivors that are brave/altruistic over survivors that play hyper safe. Player interaction is fun and all.
-
Before I give any other response I have an important question: what's your stance on survivors tbagging at the gates until the last nanosecond of EGC?
-
They made the archives a one-click instead of click-and-hold so hopefully that eventually comes to bloodwebs as well.
Hell, add a button that auto-completes the bloodweb. I'll even pay 5k-10k BP "tax" for letting the Entity do my work for me or something every time I use such a feature ๐
And I understand the BP cap is there both to keep people coming back, probably to try to prevent people from maxing out a new character immediately (no longer really relevant thanks to the new "teachable" system) and to prevent cheaterboys from giving themselves the biggest amount of bloodpoints the integer that keeps track of them can handle. I'd like it gone as well but I feel making the bloodweb much faster to fill out in one way or another is simply a more realistic wish.

But it's not 4 minutes slug time. It's potentially ~30 minutes slug time if the killer picks you up immediatelly and you minimize this time by immediate wiggle and then getting hit immediatelly (which realistically won't happen). Sorry but 30 mins slug in 10-15 mins "normal" game is waaaay too much.
Personally I have never experienced a killer trying the whole "rat on your teammate, I'l tooootally let you go if you do ;)" thing as anything else than a last resort, when I'm already almost bled out. And most of the time they don't down me and try again more than once or twice before either going off to actually look for the other or (more often) they just hook me.
The entire situation in general is very rare for me so I don't really care too much about the time investment. Like this kinda stuff happens like once every 3 months at most or something at most if I had to put some sort of estimate on it, it's far beyond "normal" slug for 4k.
-
@Gandor said:

How does that help? You will still get stuck in a game. Even more so that the killer will grab you (so 0 bleed out time). If you stay on a single spot you at least have to go down so that's 2.7s of bleedout for ~15s of wiggle free time
If I'll already be kept in the game for a full slug duration and potentially extra, I don't really care if it takes a bit longer. And a lot of the time the killers that do this just walk around in a 10-15 meter radius of me for 3 minutes and 50 seconds while I'm on the ground anyway (in other words, the other survivor is honestly making the right choice just hiding and playing for hatch/gate).
-
@Gandor said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3234443#Comment_3234443
Agreed. But there is also killer's version of SAME thing. You found 1 of last 2 survivors. Now you slug him. But 4 minutes are not enough and you HAVE TO deny possibility of hatch play. So you pick up survivor and walk with him around the map. Once he wiggles - there is nothing said survivor can do other then coop with killer (this is supposed to be bannable from that survivor BTW). He can't really escape chase. Even if he loops for 20 minutes, the other survivor is not doing gens. If he goes down it just repeats. There is no way how to get out of game other then DC (or help this co-hosting taking killer). Unhealthy and boring.
I say implement aura-showing stuff, but also allow suicide after say 2 minutes the last 2 survivors are up.
While I always laugh when a killer tries doing this with me, that's because I always and with absolutely no exception immediately get on a generator. Preferably right in the killer's face, to make it clear that while they're free to look for the other survivor, I will be doing gens and I absolutely won't help them find the other survivor. So that's one thing you can do.
But be warned, I've seen a bizarre amount of killers get very very upset about this. And I'm talking full on mask off moment, straight up bannable garbage in end game chat.
-
I agree with the people that said Wraith. You'll learn "regular" chasing, he's fast so you can go from place to place pretty quickly, and you'll get to get closer to people a lot of the time before they start running. Also got some fun and varied add-ons to play around with.
-
Haven't really seen more than usual, probably because the event itself has limited meat for the "play for salt" gremlins to feast on. Not really any equivalent to immediately dropping chase to catch + Bubba facecamp the glowy survivor you see in the distance, or just doing nothing but sabo event hooks like in previous ones.
-
At this point I honestly prefer someone that has already decided they no longer want to play just disappear from the match. If they've already made that decision they will rarely change their mind just because they get unhooked, at best they'll afk/run at the killer, at worst they'll have a grudge against whoever kept them in the match and they'll actively sandbag them.
-
While I think it's completely clear that if you did it earlier (like at 3 gens remaining or something) "to kill them with EGC" it should be considered taking that survivor hostage, a form of griefing and absolutely "undesirable gameplay" that should be punished with suspensions, in your situation it's the awkward situation where neither side is really doing anything wrong in keeping the match going, you're trying to kill and they're trying to survive as opening the gates is straight up killing the blocked survivor. Basically an old-school hatch standoff where it's a battle of stubbornness.
I have seen BHVR people say it's only okay if done during EGC or "shortly before EGC begins", whatever that means exactly. Honestly no clue what's the actual answer and you'll probably only get it from a mod or something.
-
Depipping. Really doesn't make much sense when grades are in no way relevant to matchmaking anymore, and just makes already meh matches feel even more meh.
-
Should show once you load into the match. Sure you can't build around what others bring like you see several aura perks so you become a true gamer and put on Open Handed for the gang, but you'll still know immediately that the guy going for the first save rather aggressively has Deliverance, that slugged player has Unbreakable or that the person on second stage on the hook has Kinship and someone should go proc it.
I'd love to have it pre-game but considering all the wacky things players on both sides dodge for (and the absolutely awful effects backfilled lobbies have on matchmaking a lot of the time) it's probably the best approach.
A button you could press to print your loadout in the chat no matter your platform would be cool though. Sure, some might assume anyone not sharing their loadout is someone that should be dodged, but I believe that'd be a very tiny minority.
-
Like 50-60% of the time I'd say. Personally at this point I just say it if an opponent says it first, while I think it's completely ridiculous to look any deeper into a simple gg than viewing it as an arguably empty little sportsmanship thing I can't be bothered to deal with more people writing up essays about "no... actually... it was bg, and here's 14 reasons why" in post game chat.
Like come on, this is a game where you can spam "GGEZ KEKW UNINSTALL GARBAGE PLAYER!!" at 10 lines per second after every single match you've ever played, even if you have 10k hours in the game, and you'd never see a single ban from it. If people want to be annoying, they're not gonna say gg but "secretly mean git gud teehee"
-
It could genuinely be the best game of all time and I wouldn't touch it with a 2 lightyear long stick as long as the gross monetization method that is known as Gacha is involved.
-
Where on earth is the true answer, people that act like vile goblins in post game chat/private messages sending people slurs, threats and serious harassment?
Yes, they're worse than cheaters in my opinion (and even cheaters do not in any way deserve this kinda treatment, and that's saying something). But as that option isn't there, I'm picking cheaters.
-
They did exactly that in 6.3.0 though?
-
Yes, got changed in the same patch Artist got added pretty sure.
For reasons that should be fairly obvious just from reading the name of that killer, lol.
