You're right, except from the "we don't need a whole new system" part.
The changes they want to make to ranks are too indepth and complicated. No less because they are uncoupling it from your Killer rank so that each individual killer gets their own MMR, and also to keep it hidden so that players can't work it out and game the system to smurf.
You can cheese the system by SWF. SWF will get an average MMR so if there's 1 really low MMR in the SWF that will automatically drop the average and make the system pick a killer that will have a lower MMR than the rest of the SWF should be facing.
Each killer having their own MMR is a huge problem. Think about new killer releases, an experienced killer player playing a brand new killer will have no MMR there, by the system's logic he'd be facing new survivors ...This is very wrong. Each killer can't have their own MMR or people will be switching killers very frequently to try and get easier matches. So by going around the system this way we're still creating scenarios where unfair matches are being organized. An experienced player on a low MMR killer means a tougher match for low MMR survivors and means 1 less high MMR killer to face high MMR survivors, which then makes the system open the MMR range so that the high MMR survivors find a killer, which turns out to be a lower MMR killer than they should otherwise be facing.
We don't need a whole new system, the system we have is good enough we just need to make that system have meaning. If the ranks meant something and there was real requirements for them then we'd have the right people in the right ranks.

The team effort is to get 5 gens done, if one survivor is occupying the killer for the amount of time it takes to do that then they certainly contributed to the teams ability to get 5 gens done...bhvr even agrees because there is already a system to reward the person getting chased with objective points so your argument on that point is invalidated by the developers. My stance is the system isn't adequate for situations where the killer decides to stay on one person. You said it yourself the killer should have moved on. That's on the killer not the survivors. No use punishing them for completing the team's objective.
Exactly it's not on the survivors, so you didn't actually do anything... It's the killer that did poorly. You can't be rewarded extra BP for not doing your objective and the killer playing poorly...
Your actions didn't matter, the lack of killer actions did matter... You did nothing the killer did everything, and he did it all wrong. You didn't force the killer to stay on you, you didn't give team mates anytime, the killer made a wrong choice and he payed for it.
You only get rewarded points for gen completion if you're in a chase right? So if the killer quit's the chase and goes to the gen then you get nothing besides the chase points which you were getting already...
So after all this how can you be crying for gen progress points when it's up to the killer if he chases or not so he decides if you get bonus points or not? What you want is all the points for the killer playing bad, cause that's the scenario, the killer is playing bad and you want points for the killer being bad...

It needs to work because rank based matchmaking is crap.
Ranks are crap not rank based matchmaking. The problem is ranks are meaningless cause it's too easy to rank up in the begining, which boosts alot of people to the high ranks they don't deserve. And then to avoid those people who shouldn't be high ranks some people start deranking, which leads to stuff like " yeah green ranks is where you should be cause it's fun" Yeah it's fun but do you wanna stay green ranks forever? Don't you wanna go higher?
So at this point you have high rank noobs destroying the game for high rank skilled players, mostly on survivor, hence why the SoloQ cries all the time, and low rank gods who abuse new low rank killers. Creating all the chaos in Rank based Match Making.
but what is MMR if not just another way to Rank you? There's still gonna be a margin for which the system has to say this is still a fair match, so MMR is just another Rank Range...
We don't need a whole new system we just need the current system to have meaning.
-
That's how it should be on a ranked mode. The fact people avoid ranking up is why matchmaking is how it is...

I said I hadn't worked out how I would change killer or if I would at though. Though I don't think it equates as directly as this. The killers goal is to kill all the survivors, the survivors goal is to escape. If one person manages to occupy the killer that long and then probably get tunneled off again out of spite why shouldn't they be rewarded. They aren't ignoring a portion of the match really there are 4 of them its a team effort and it's dynamic, if one game a survivor can do this for the team I feel they should be rewarded justly.
Exactly it's a team effort. Someone not doing gens is not team effort during the gens part. You have to work on gens, it's part of your objective. If you're not doing the objective you can't be rewarded for it. The problem isn't you not being rewarded by them doing gens while you're in chase, in that case the problem is the killer not quitting the chase, the killer should quit the chase, giving you time to do gens and get more points in other categories and giving someone else a chase.
The problem is they can do it without you, they don't need you. 1 guy can do all 5 gens and the result is the same as if all 4 were doing gens but since only 1 guy did them you can't reward the other 3 besides giving them the escape option. This is why people stay on gens while others are on hook, they don't need you to survive. And you don't need them either, let them all die and escape via Hatch or try Gate if killer closes Hatch or get lucky and get a key or bring and hide a key. You can't be rewarded for being able to ignore the game's conditions. And by default the game is expecting 2 people to die so regardless if you've done alot or not you may end up dying or escaping.
You can't expect to get points when you spend 1 min 30 on a Hook aswell. You're basicly timmed out from any activity in the game. So again it's up to team work, them rescuing you means there's 1 more pair of hands to accomplish the objectives. The game should enforce more team work and not reward individuality. IF you want gen points for being in a chase then i want chase points bonus for you hogging the killer for yourself. But this is a stupid thing it's the killer's fault if he doesn't leave you so i can't expect to magically get max chase points if i escape without being chased or if i die to something like NOED or Rancord or Tombstone Myers...I wasn't chased i don't get chase and boldness points.

Technically, Killers can.
Through a chase, he found Survivors (Hunter), he kicks Gen (Brutality), using power (Deviousness), hit survivor (Brutality), kicks Pallets (Brutality), using power (Deviousness), hit survivor (Brutality), hook (Sacrifice)
As you can see, a single chase gives Killer BP through all 4 categories. He definitely can chase a single Survivor a whole game and earn 25.000 (If other 3 survivor dont get a single hook).
Survivors, on the other hand, the tunneled guy maximum earn 8000 Boldness, and may be 2000 Survival from some stuns. Other 3 may earn 8000 from Gen and 5000 escape.
You won't be getting that manny points from just 1 survivor. And you need them to stay close everytime you kick something so you can keep picking the chase back up, kicking gens and pallets in the same chase is alot of time wasted so yeah they need to be waiting for you. And you won't be kicking everything in 1 chase, you can get points in multiple categories doesn't mean you will get manny, you can't kick already kicked pallets or already completed gens so you'd need to be chasing in a new area everytime and all the other survivors would have to be on the opposite side of where you and the chased survivor are or they need to just not interfere. This is highly unlikely, the others survivors will definetly be doing something so you won't have gens to kick, you will have to chase someone else when you hook one survivor otherwise you're losing gens by camping so you can't kick any more gens and at that point i'd just let you get the kill and leave. I'd trade the unhooking points for the escape points.
-
You can't ignore a portion of the match and still be able to get max BP. Imagine killer getting max BP if he could just tunnel 1 survivor every match, get their 1 killer and get max BP. If a killer is tunneling a Survivor the team should put an effort into stopping that. Bodyblocking, trading a hook, whatever. They get points for themselves and ensure you get to do something more than being stuck in a cycle with the killer. If you decide to loop a killer till the game is done then you can't complain about lack of BP, you chose to be looping instead of sharing all responsabilities. You're also stealing chase points from others by getting the attention of the killer...
-
@Avilgus said:
Yellow rank killers cannot complain anymore about going against red rank.
That's the point of hidding the ranks... Players can no longer blame matchmaking if there's no matchmaking. WE don't know how they are calculating MMR so we can't say how Matchmaking works so we can't blame matchmaking. But instead we will complain even more about Balance. IF BHVR doesn't Balance the game after MMR then there's no point to having MMR.
-
The ranks are hidden cause they are expecting manny 1 sided matches, they said so already. So hidding ranks is la scapegoat.
-
Huntress problems is just BHVR being Cheap with servers. Same with Stalking on Myers and Ghostface and GF's Reveal Mechanic.
-
To me it's Trapper then Nemesis for different reasons. Trapper is legit the weakest right now and Nemesis whole power makes no sense to me. Tentacle is too short, Contamination does nothing, Zombies are the biggest gamble roll in DbD. Only redeeming quality is how Meaty his M1 punch feels. I'd rather endure Ghostfaces stupid Reveal Mechanic than play Trapper or Nemesis.
-
Problem with these Escape Rate and Kill rate graphs, or any sort of Big Data analysis, is that it's a sumarization of the full spectrum of people playing and that is a problem since the game is a casual party game designed for casual players therefore the skill ceiling is much lower so the chances for survivors to die are higher and you have to take into account that BHVR believes the 2 die 2 escape philosophy, therefore Survivors are already expected to die. Meaning 4k and 4 escape are NOT NORMAL MATCHES, those are matches where either the killer skill level was higher or the survivor skill level was higher. The more one of these scenarios happen the more the game is unbalanced.
-
Discordance, Tinkerer, Brutal Strength, STBFL.
-
I wouldn't say it's not Fun because killer is the Fun role. It's just that it feels like too much work and little reward most of the time. Survivors need less input to get more rewards. 1 Survivor doing a gen solo means there's 1 less gen for everyone else to do. The other 3 people have less that is required of them. Meanwhile 1 hook for a killer doesn't mean much when he should be pushing for 12...It's a simple VS about numbers. 5 gens vs 12 hooks. Time to do 1 gen VS time to get 1 hook.

If you quit then why are you still hanging around?
You are in the minority for wanting d/c penalties removed and you also aren't even a current player. So your input is meaningless.
No it's not meaningless, i still have 3 years played of this game but i'm not playing DbD until performance gets fixed, i've said this multiple times now, if people don't read then that's not on me. I'm just saying DC penalties should not be back on when the game still isn't performing well, doesn't matter if i'm a minority or not, you don't ignore minorities, you don't ignore customers. That's all i have said all this time. And i'm using real world anologies to make the point across. You don't issue temporary bans on people in the real world without cause. If you're caught stealing and go to jail there's a worthy cause to time you out of the rest of society, you got caught cheating the rest of society so until you pay for it you're locked out. DC'ing in DbD isn't a worthy cause to ban someone from playing until you have a worthy cause to issue the Ban but since the game isn't performing well there's plenty of causes for DC's so it's much easier for the reason to be outside of players control thus the system can't work and punish people just because a DC happened.

Or... if your psyche is so fragile that not being able to DC without punishment is breaking you, you have the option of uninstalling. Maybe look for another multiplayer game that lets you DC if the other players dont play how you want them to.
######### me you're dense....It's not about ME, it's not about the other players it's about the game enforcing a system that punishes people without descrimination. It's because of how the system works that they had to deactivate the system during this Chapter... If the system didn't punish crashes for example then they wouldn't need to deactivate the system.

If you want to rage quit games of DBD so badly, why do you even play?
Sounds like you would be far better off finding a different game to go play since you are clearly not enjoying DBD.
But i did quit DBD cause the game isn't performing well and DC bans are not warranted but they are active...People are being Punished without justification for it. The system doesn't care why you DC'ed you're getting timed out wether or not you DC voluntarily. Does that sound fair to you?
Now couple Matchmaking and queue times into factor during this last month and a half. With so manny people not being able to play on Console queues get longer and matchmaking has to pick whoever is available, lowering the chances for a fair match and also lowering the quality and stability of matches since there's less people in Queue. This is why they disabled the DC penalty, it would only harm the game.
Clearly after the updates alot of people, myself included, are still having major issues however the DC penalty is back on so we either EAT CRAP or DONT PLAY which leads to the same #########, not enjoying the game.
I'll happily abandon DbD but guess what? Manny haven't and manny won't, that means they are being enslaved to a game and it's systems that only punishes them wether they are right or wrong.

Will you get sick (and potentially die, or at least suffer long-term effects), be enslaved, or have your country go to war if you don't DC? My guess is "No", so don't compare those things with a video game having a DC penalty. It's demeaning to the people who died of COVID, the people who were (and are) enslaved, and the people who fought and died in wars.
Those people endure real suffering cause there was no other option. DbD has another option. DC bans only perpetuate frustration by not being able to move on to another match. It's much easier for you to recover if you get a better match than sit there waiting and let that DC in a harmless video game chew on your psyche. You're much more inclined to stay frustrated by waiting than you are by fiding another match.

Yup, endure whatever match you get placed in or get hit with the DC penalty. Im glad you catch on quick. You might not LIKE the punishment, but you are infact seeing that its a punishment. You arnt SUPPOSE to like it. Endure or suffer the punishment, cuz id much rather have 5 people in my game who will "endure" than have anyone who decides that XYZ map/perk/killer/WHATEVER isnt fun and DCes for it.
Sure endure whatever, hey let's endure Covid and skip Vaccines, let's endure Slavery and skip Human Rights, let's endure War , let's endure hunger and poverty...
YOU just want others to endure so that YOU get to do whatever. YOU are only thinking about YOURSELF. YOU want others to be frsutrated just so YOU can get your BP...YOU don't give a damn about whatever others might be enduring, YOU just want the match to go on no matter how BAD and miserable it might be for someone else. It's all about YOU...
So why don't YOU endure when someone DC's? LEt them DC and YOU endure...Do as you Preach. LEt them DC's you're so tough you can endure it.

Buddy that work example doesn't work in your favor. Someone quitting early again and again under the pretext of a migraine or something will be fired sooner or later.
Same when playing for example soccer with friends. The game doesn't go your way or you think that you get focused by the other team or fouled without repercussions and quit often. At some point your friends don't want you on their team anymore since they know you leave them at man disadvantage on a regular basis.
Let's do this instead of DC penalties. People get branded for everyone to see in lobby killer and survivor. For every DC done in the last maybe 7 days. Let's see how long it will take until there will be no more games and only lobby dodging.
Yes it does work in my favor, just because somebody doesn't show up once or has to leave early doesn't mean they aren't a good worker, you need to know why they did what they did, they'll get a cut on their pay for sure but you're not gonna ban him from working the next day are you? But DbD bans you from the next game regardless of whatever made you DC. If you're DC'ing that much or not showing up that much for work then you won't be playing or working.
Anyway you're still suggesting something other than DC penalties so at least we agree DC penalties is not a solution however publicly showing a DC Record isn't good cause again where's the context? You will only know how manny DC's not why the DC happened...So again you're solving nothing and again we're in the lowest point in the games history when it comes to performance so alot of people would have DCs in their record but these DC's weren't intentional so having a DC Record would be meaningless in this situation aswell.

People SHOULD endure rather than DC. It doesnt matter if you find a particular map/killer/whatever to be not your particular favorite, DCing shouldnt be tolerated for anything shy of being stuck in a rock or something. For those enduring because they dont wanna be hit with a penalty... sounds like the penalty is having the results it was intended to have. Endure on.
Yes endure a bad game, very healthy behaviour to have. Let me purpusefully endure this crap match, whatever the reason may be, instead of finding one that can be better and keep me happy and playing for longer... Very good psychology there. Using FEAR of a ban to keep people in a BAD place isn't a Solution. Very good psychology there. Either Endure the match or endure the penalty, so you're just enduring something rather than having enjoyment in something? very good psychology there.
So if a DC'er should endure the game then the remaining ones should endure the game with 1 less player aswell right? So Dc'ing doesn't ruin the game for anyone else more than it ruins it for the DC'er. If someone doesn't show up for work somebody else has to endure right? But you're not banning the other guy from working are you? you need that guy to work, same as DbD needs that player.
DC'ing isn't a crime and enduring crap matches isn't an heroc thing. If the game was better less people would crash, less people would have performance issues, less people would find reasons to DC.
I can tell you 1 DC is the same pratical effect of 1 Sacrifice. The end result is the same, 1 less Survivor. Only if a killer DC's is it really problematic since the whole match is canceled but until you figure out why the killer DC'ed you can't fault the player. The DC ban system also can't tell why a player DC'ed which is why the deactivated the system in this chapter...
So if the system can't tell why then the system is punishing players regardless of anything. Then people stop dc'ing because they are AFRAID of the penalty. How can you support a system that can't identify causes and uses fear to prevent DCs?

I dont know where you got the idea that longer queue times will cause people to want to DC and thus re-enter said queues. It should actually be the exact opposite really, lol. As for WHY you keep DCing...yeah, it sucks when you have an issue outside of your control. That being the case though, even if you are dropping out of your matches for technical issues...those matches STILL get ruined for the other 4 players. Allowing you to hobble into another match so you can DC from that one too doesnt fix anything and just pushes the problem to another batch of players. If your lagging out of your matches so often that your DC punishment timer gets cranked up really high, yeah...it sucks... but I know I wouldnt wanna get queued up with you. Just tells me that you're just as likely to end up DCing out of the lobby as someone who ragequit over and over to get their DC timer that high.
As for your question of what do DC bans do...
It increases the likelihood that I'm gonna get to play with people who WONT DC, since the people who DO DC alot (whether from technical issues OR requiting) are waiting for their long DC timers to go down.
Queues times influence matchmaking, if there's people who can't be in matchmaking then matchmaking is slower. So to counter that slowdown matchmaking will start picking any available people regardless of FAIRNESS, meaning unfair matches wich can lead to more DC's. That's how DC's influence matchmaking and queues. Not only unfair matches but also further away people aswell, meaning worse connections which cna lead to match cancelation cause DC's in loading or DC's because the connection is bad throughout the match and someone decides they had enough...
Just because you play with people who Don't DC doesn't mean they are enjoying the game, maybe they are just enduring it so they can avoid the DC ban...
-
Because BHVR doesn't know how to design a Map with Looping in mind since the original game wasn't meant to have looping. This is why still today we're discussing Shift W. Cause Shift W is how the game is supposed to work. Looping isn't a skill it's a matter of wether or not you can hold Shift W on a structure and get away with it. Even with 10 and 15% faster killers the shift W problem is real and it's because Map Design is horrible. It's why BloodLust exists... We wouldn't need Bloodlust if Looping was a fair thing, but if looping was fair then Maps would be well designed.

No surprise, the mid-chapter didn't fix anything for consoles. Hand-held or not. I'm still having major issues on PS5, i've seen reports of issues on Series X aswell.

I cant tell who DCes alot, but the system can. If you had a weird fluke experience where you had to DC for the first time today...go get a snack and requeue after 5 minutes is up. If your DC timeout is 3 hours, thats the system saying your doing it too much. I dont need to see your timer, you dont need to see mine. Your arguement is under the assumption that people who DC constantly are treated the same way as people who run into an unavaoidable circumstance once in a blue moon... which isnt the case at all. The difference comes in play with the timers.
The amount of times DbD has crashed for me on PS5 would warrant me hours of bans during this chapter and event....Even now with the 2 "fix patches" i'm still having performance issues on PS5. Not even playing, just logging into the game drops massive frames, clicking either killer or survivor makes the game freeze and buffer but hey the Store opens up immediatly when you click it, then you can imagine what happens when a match starts.... Now come tell me it's my fault if i chose or get DC'ed too much and i'm warranted those bans that i would have gotten...
All the DC bans do is makes queue times longer and force the matchmaking to pick people outside of a a fair match setting. If queues are longer and matches are unfair what do you think happens? More people will DC cause they don't want an unfair match after they've already waited however long for it. Plus there isn't any game balance reason for the DC bans to exists, DC's don't Balance matches, doesn't help queue times and doesn't help matchmacking fairness.
What is the DC bans benefiting? Absolutly nothing, sometimes you're punishing quitters, sometimes you're punishing people who did nothing wrong but EVERYTIME you're influencing queues and matchmaking fairness. Think about this...

Not all are legit but an overwhelming vast majority are bad sports. Which is why the dc penalty is in place. If real life stuff comes up once in awhile you will barely get hit by it. If you get hit by a 5 hour ban, you deserved it.
you can't tell if the 5 hour ban is legit or not can you? you also can't tell why the guy DC'ed either... You have to assume it is legit but the problem here isn't the timer the problem here is the DC penalty itself being in effect when the game performance has been in an all time low, we're not ready to have the DC penalty back. And if this person was victim of a bug then he got robbed of plenty of playtime....

Let me put it another way:
If someone drops net or has a game crash; this will be so uncommon that they don't get more than the default 5 minute penalty. Which will probably last longer than their net rebooting. They may have to eat 3 minutes if it was only the game crashing.
But if someone crashes SO MUCH that they eat a 5 hour penalty? They are booting up the game KNOWING they will probably crash, and putting their fun ahead of their fellow gamers, JUST LIKE A DCer! If someone has net issues in 4 out of 5 games; they either need to fix it, or be CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS and not play games where them crashing will ruin it for other human ######### beings.
The bottom line is that no program can know the INTENT of a disconnect; be it a crash or someone rage-quitting. And to keep a game from being ######### UNPLAYABLE, those with PC/net issues have to eat the penalty alongside people who would RUIN THE GAME BY DCing ALL THE TIME.
To say 'Well, 1 disconnect in 500 is someone crashing, so the other 499 should not be punished' is either very short-sighted, or you're one of those 499 looking for an excuse to dodge being punished.
Regardless of the timer you're still locking someone out of Queue wether or not there is a valid reason for the DC. The penalty is there regardless of your actions or lack of actions. You're punished the same for DC'ing and being kicked for whatever reason, even a hacker can DC you and you're eating the DC ban.
You understand why they turned off the DC penalty during this Chapter and Event right? Cause clearly the game wasn't performing well and alot of people were being kicked out of the game. So obviously you can't just expect people to accept DC penalties for that hence why it was turned off.
They've patched the game twice but people are still reporting problems but now the DC penalty is on and some people are being banned regardless if it's them DC'ing or getting kicked out of the game. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.
And you can't tell who's DC'ing or getting kicked and they DC'ed or got kicked and you can't see their timers so there's no way to tell what circumstances are causing the Dc's but most everyone here is hopping on the "using any excuse to DC" train and not wanting penalties when clearly the game isn't ready for the DC penalty to be back.

If someone doesnt DC often and they just needed out of a match because something out of the norm happened... they really dont have to worry about the penalty. They'll have to deal with 5 minutes, big deal. If someone has a 3 hour DC penalty... they're the people who shouldnt be queueing up.
You're absolutly right. But you can't tell why i DC'ed and neither can i tell why you DC'ed and we can't see each other's DC timers so we have no way to tell WHY the DC happened and if it's a frequent thing for you or me. So we're either both screwed by an unfair ban or we're both DC'ing alot or one of us is and the other isn't. Can you tell? Cause i can't tell who DC's alot and doesn't. That's why i am not lumping Bad Sports and Bad Performance/Unexpected events together like most people is.

I'm not agreeing with you on anything. You're trying to muddle the issue by lumping people with legitimate issues in with people who purposefully DC, even though we're just talking about the latter. They're not the same thing, and you know it.
You're lumping them together aswell, you're defending DC penalties for any and all DC. If Performance wasn't an issue, DC bans by crash wouldn't happen, if performance wasn't an issue killers wouldn't be reporting sound issues, scratch mark issues, etc and DC'ing early or mid match when they notice something is not normal. So if the game worked then you are eliminating the DC's cause by external reasons so then yes you can have the DC penalty back to punish bad sports.

Riiiight. Let people ruin the game because they feel like they deserve any and all excuses to DC. Not gonna happen. Stop DCing and you won't get punished. The end.
Imagine how entitled you must be to think you deserve any reason to ruin the game for everyone else. Boo-hoo, poor you; you need the world to revolve around you so you can't comprehend that DCing ruins the game for everyone else in the match.
You're going from the stand point of every DC being a legit bad sportmanship, i'm saying that's not the case. You're already mindlessly saying every DC is a guy being a bad sport. Undoubtly those exist and always will regardless of the DC penalty so the penalty isn't doing anything anyway. So you're only punishing people who crash or lose power or net or whatever that isn't directly them quitting a match.

The majority of people I see DC are at very VERY convenient times. They step in a trap, they failed a mind game, they got found first, they dced the moment they got downed, they got grabbed off a locker. Don't expect me to believe ALLLLLL of those were legit DC's and not people being salty.
I'm not saying all of them are legit, i'm telling you the reverse, not all of the DC's are bad sport players. And considering how badly the game has been performance wise there's no reason to have the DC penalty back already. Switch is noly getting patched this week, think about this, think about how manny problems switch players have to endure if they wanna play. If they have DC penalty they eithe endure the shitstorm performance because they get locked out if they DC or just don't play at all...not getting value out of their money spent on the game.

Performance should remain more or less the same in any situation. If you're DCing so much due to "performance" that it becomes a problem, then you should probably wait until the game is better optimized.
Absolutly but then you're agreeing with me that not all DC are just bad sport players. There's a reason DC penalties were turned off during this chapter right? Guess what people are still having issues so why is the DC penalty back already before the problems are solved? Clearly the problems aren't solved, they jsut want to keep people lokced in matches afraid of not playing because of the DC penalty. They're forcing people to either endure the issues or not play. It's as simple as this.

DBD is competitive, whether you like it or not. The only mode is a ranked mode where players can gain rank or lose rank based on performance. Both sides are often playing to win.
DBD might be more casual than other PvP games, but it's still competitive by the nature of being a PvP game.
But also it's funny that the people insisting that DBD is a casual game are the ones who feel the most inclined to DC whenever the game isn't going the way they want it to. Which implies these "casual" players take the game pretty seriously in the first place. Almost like it's a competitive game to them.
It's competitive in the aspect that it's 4v1 but it's not competitive in atraditional sense like fighting games are for example. DbD is a casual party game.

Your preventing people from queueing up and ruining another match. Everytime someone DCes, its abunch of wasted time for everyone involved. Doesnt have to be a competitive game for people to be pissed off that they had their time wasted and their match ruined. If everytime you play Monopoly with one of your friends, you find that they flip the board anytime they dont get the roll they want... Do you really wanna ask them to play anymore?
Until you can say why they DC'ed you can't tell they will ruin another match, that's the point. THeres so manny reasons a DC can happen and you're all going the DC'er is BAD SPORT, can't take a loss, bla bla bla... That's not true, that's not what i experience. I don't have manny Survivors DC on me and if i ever DC is because of game breaking performance issues, wich are not my fault.

You're accusing me of being toxic because I'm not thinking of the poor DCer's feelings, even though DCers are already inherently toxic. It's like the paradox of tolerance, but with DCers.
You for real? A DC can happen for any reason and you're immediatly accusing the DC of bad sport, that's what you're doing, you're being toxic, yes. You don't have to care for their feelings but you can't tell why they DC'ed either so why should they be banned regardless of motive? If power goes out, if internet goes out, if game crashes, etc are you saying these things should punish you still? Wow very considerate of you.

You shouldn't try such basic rhetoric as accusing me of what DCers do. It really doesn't work.
I'm not accusing you of anything, you said " DCer can ruin another trial." you don't know if they will ruin another trial cause you don't know why the first DC happened.

It ruins the match for everyone else in it. How is this hard for people to understand? Think about others for once.
How does it ruin the match for tohers? You have no way to know why the DC happened, whats so hard to understand. THe only problem here is Queue times get longer cause there's someone else not in Queue, but without the penalty then there's still the same amount of people on Queue or not depending on why the DC happened. You shouldn't be DC banning people for any and all reasons.

@Orion said:

You lose the normal trial you queued up for while the DCer can ruin another trial.
You're assuming the person will DC again, until you know why they DC'ed there's no reason to suspect that. So you're already acting on bad faith against anyone who DC's. Now that's Toxic.

no one believes that and if yes...how many times did you dc before ?. Im happy that dc penalties are back cause to many toxic ppl ragequitting
what's toxic about DC'ing? If they found a reason to DC then let them, you don't lose anything, only the DCer does. The only thing you can complain about is potential longer queues.
-
I don't get why DC penalties in a casual game. DbD isn't Competitive, there is no Competitive scene, it's all Player Made with external rulling. There's no Competitive DbD because the game isn't made to be competitive, it's a party game, at most BHVR will endorse some Tournaments as Marketing decisions and that's it, just like the Amateur Console only Japan Tournament, and even this was made with outside rulling because there's no competitive Balance or Rulling in DbD and never will be. The moment DbD becomes Competitive Half of the population won't like the game cause at least half of the population is the Casual players that BHVR wants.
If that's the case then why the DC penalties? DC penalties only make Queues worse, you're banning people from playing so what do you think happens next? More Wait time, less Players in Matchmaking, More Rank variety and Unfair matches because Matchmaking has to lower Queue times for those eligible for Queue.
Results of this? highly unfair matches, longer Queue times and guess what? MORE DC's because of this. Until DC penalties became a thing i had no problems with Queues unless i was playing at times where it would be expected to have low population. And before Cross play i could actually find Console Lobbies, now it's a goddamn MIRAGE to find a full console Lobby, it will take ages. But thanks to Crossplay it's easier to face Pc cheaters not to mention the obvious PC vs Console argument in terms of controls, especially for killer and not to mention how ######### Console optimization is and how manny problems Old Gen and NEW GEN consoles are having.
There's no way to keep DC penalties up with this much reasoning against it.
The only excuse people have in favor of DC bans is people being sore losers, which doesn't happen that often, more people are having performance issues or crashing rather than just going oh no they did a gen or oh no they hit me let me DC ... I'd rather lobby dodge if i suspect i'm facing something i won't like based on people profiles and who and what they are bringing. I'll even dodge shady survivors while i play survivor.

BHVR have said that looping wasnt meant to be the focus of the game at launch and the game kinda evolved for it to become a major part of it.
Yeah but that isn't the case anymore, we're not in Alpha back in 2016. WE and BHVR are playing very different games. When their mentality is on Holding Forward to get away from killer then something is clearly outdated and wrong.
-
What New tutorials? It's the same tutorials just a new coat of paint. There's no teaching about Totems, no teaching about Obsession, common loops and routes, different vault speeds and angles for them, no talks about killers behaviour in chases, stuff like moonwalking, clockwise or counter clockwise looping, etc. It's as if you're just supposed to Shift W to get away from killer and just go from pallet to pallet.... Honest to God this is probably what BHVR wanted all along and Looping as we know it is just something we created, just like combos in fighting games, never meant to exist until someone found out and made it a thing.

Yeah Reviews... IGN DbD 9/10. Great Review, so accurate...
No, Steam user reviews. This is what I mean when you say things I didn't say and then act like I said them.
So i should simply quit until further notice?
If the game is unplayable for you, as you claim, then yes. That's just basic common sense and follows directly from what it means to be "unplayable".
And [BAD WORD] me and [BAD WORD] my money right? I don't get to play what i bought, fantastic. Can't even get refunds, amazing. [BAD WORD] the consumer.
The alternative is to continue supporting a supposedly broken product. Which do you think is best for you, the consumer?
EDIT: Besides, you yourself said you were quitting, right in your OP. Why is it only a bad idea when other people are proposing it?
Where did i claim you said something you didn't?
Right here, for instance:
If you think there's clearly no reason for me to be complaining about the problems the game has then just don't comment don't come here and pretend that the game is fine. It's a broken moldy spaghetti monster.
You said reviews and i mentioned the Bs that is IGN's review of DbD, if you wanna talk about Steam Reviews then you're gonna find alot of negative reviews, so what exactly is your point about reviews? Mind you there's a ton of negatives reviews prior to the last month so it isn't just this time the game gets negative reviews neither is this the first time they get the same issues. I may not have been playing since the Alpha, wich at this point i'd consider i am since the game has been performing as bad as an Alpha or worse.
Yeah i'm definetly quitting, it's clear they don't give a goddamn flying ######### about how bad the game has been. They purposefully did Events while they knew alot of people couldn't play.... I can only conclude they don't care about fixing what needs to be fixed before doing an event. If they cared they talk to people but they don't, they have a very clear record of not communicating. So no i'm not saying quitting is a bad idea, what i'm saying is that a player quitting is never good and should never happen but it looks like it would just be a better alternative than having someone complain right? If there's no complaints there's no problems...
Can't make them shut up about your faulty product? Just ignore them till they finally move on, what a nice and friendly consummer politic.

I'm on PC and having no major issues.
The issues you hare having doesn't justify DC during a match. If it was with the game itself more would be experiencing which isn't the case. There are four other players that you are negatively impacting. You shouldn't be joining matches until you have resolved the issues.
Does your system and connection meet the games requirements? Are all your drivers updated? etc, etc.
The number of people DC was out of control and needed to be reinstated.
Good for you. It's not my PC, i'm having the same problems on PS5, i already said this multiple times...

Games in a way better state than before, like your op was just about scratch Mark's and sounds, if noticed the same in my games but I'm not quitting. The game will never be bug free, sorry but it wont but these issues while annoying arent as bad.
Well use cakes and make do, I am, others are but if you quit it means 0 BP instead. Stick it out or play another game to chill on, I do it too
I only remember the game being in a Decent state in 2019...I said clear issues with everything you can imagine, yes i particularly mentioned scratchmarks and sounds because those are two pivotal points for playing killer, without sounds or scratch marks you can't chase people...
So you agree the game has issues but you chose to keep playing regardless. The issues are bad, very freaking bad. So if you say you have issues and i say i have issues, how manny other people are having issues? It's been over a month and these issues are still happening. Whenever they announce a "fix" to something they break something else ... It's not a Meme, it's a Reality. When can i expect to play the game? Or if they don't want me to play then they should just say so an i'll definetly stop trying.

Yeah ofc you didn't experience any problems with Cyberpunk, the whole world did but you're the special snowflake...
Most reviews are positive, it was just a vocal minority of players who seemed to have a vested interest in trying to force CDPR to go under.
Yeah i definetly need to stop playing this cause it's definetly not worth it but i suppose that's good then right?
It's not good, no, but if the game "isn't performing at an acceptable level", then you definitely shouldn't accept its current state. Playing it just means you do accept it as it is, or at least believe the problems aren't that big of a deal.
i gotta say i was expecting that as your follow up.
Expected what, exactly? You just said a bunch of stuff and then claimed I'm the one who said it, even though I didn't.
Yeah Reviews... IGN DbD 9/10. Great Review, so accurate...

Where did i claim you said something you didn't? See this the response i'm expecting from you, just like the one from before based on your first response. I agree banning people isn’t a solution, it’s what dbd does best a bandaid fix. Sure it won’t be fixing the bugs but what it will do is discourage people from dcing constantly over minor inconveniences. And to answer the other things you were saying. I’m not sure what you mean by “justified” if we’re talking like 1000+ ping matches you will probably dc even if you don’t want to. But if it’s just you dcing because you don’t like the killer or the perks they’re running or the map or how fast survivors are doing gens or how fast your totems get cleansed . Nah that’s not justifiable at all. And while you’re right it won’t stop you from dcing it will mean that many less matches that those people who rage quit over everything can ruin. And lastly by event I think they mean the 2x blood point event going on right now.
I'm not talking about stuff like builds or how people play or even ping, i can only see my ping but Ping isn't an issue for me on any other game so i'll have to rule out Ping as my problem. i'm strictly talking about the game not working as intended.

Even if the event is a repeat it's an event. Okay so save the cakes till now when there isn't crashes etc. Quitting certainly isn't helping you get bp is it. And all it does is mess over the other players trying to play the game, you quitting takes away bp etc. For others, either play or dont it's that simple there are other games out there and these issues really arent that bad
Save the cakes for when? When can i play the game? I already have limited time to play and when i try it's not working so when can i expect to use something in this game?

So i should take crap and like it? I'm not justified in DC'ing when clearly the game becomes unplayable? I'm guessing you probably would play Cyberpunk at launch, or AC Unity, or insert whatever disastrous game...
I did actually play CP2077 at launch, because I didn't experience any of these big issues other people did.
And i'm having issues across 2 platforms so clearly the problem isn't on me DC'ing because i can't play, clearly the problem is the game. If the game was alright i wouldn't be DC'ing.
If you're DCing that much, then, clearly, the game is unplayable for you and you need to stop trying to play it. How many times do you need to burn yourself on a hot stove before you stop trying to touch it?
Yeah ofc you didn't experience any problems with Cyberpunk, the whole world did but you're the special snowflake...Yeah i definetly need to stop playing this cause it's definetly not worth it but i suppose that's good then right? At least there's 1 less person complaining about actual problems...I guess the solution to people complaining is to have them not complain regardles of their motives... i gotta say i was expecting that as your follow up.

I feel like it’s become a situation of “this is why we can’t have nice things.” It was turned off to make the game more bearable for console players who were crashing constantly. And then people decided to abuse it and DC over anything happening that they don’t like. So here we are now
Either way the game isn't performing well so the issue is still there regardless of DC bans so banning people isn't a solution to anything.

I'm guessing you didn't experience that many real-life emergencies (the only real justification for DCing), so if you want to know why the penalties are back, it's because of you and people like you, who feel justified in DCing for any reason.
So i should take crap and like it? I'm not justified in DC'ing when clearly the game becomes unplayable? No its different. While it's an issue for sure I agree it's not an issue that forces you to quit and face the DC penalties, people was being banned for no fault of their own, even with the issues they tried to put up with it and play but got crashes. You're quitting because you cant do as well. I'd rather not have people quit every game again, I'd actually like to play an event properly
What event? It was a Log In bonus and compensation for catastrophic chapter launch, there was no event, it was copy paste. They deliberatly lied about putting more focus on the big events, we have the proof to this right in front of us. Survivors weren't getting enough cake's compared to killers, not that it mattered much since game performance has been at an all time low, so the chances of cakes being wasted are absurdly high anyway... What nice thing has come out of the event?
