Chat isn't available, but as a PS5 player I also don't want dodging to increase because every solo queue dead by daylight player thinks they know everything.
I vote (again) to get rid of the lobby completely. It serves no purpose other than to tryhard in a game that will never be balanced 100%. If you want to try to control every aspect of the game in your favor so much that you need to control the OTHER players, you are playing the wrong game. Either get a team of four and tell them what to do (which is probably why you can't find a team of four in the first place) or go somewhere else! That's an easy fix to this nonissue imho.
-
I agree, Myers should stab them right through the door in a unique mori specially made for the jerks that exploit this only to stop you from finishing your challenge.
In the mean time, just hook them. Don't even hesitate a little bit to grab them right out of the locker and set them on a hook. You are more likely to get four tombstone kills if you make them believe you aren't working on the challenge because survivors are never using the locker as a 'counterplay' they are using it to stop you from getting your challenge done. Just to be jerks. Make them think you don't care/already have the challenge done and watch them stop trying to hide in lockers all of a sudden.

As a content creator who uploads daily Dead by Daylight content and streams on Twitch, I have never been demonetized from posting a Dead by Daylight video. All of my Chucky videos were in good standing and profitable.
Perhaps other content creators did not fill out their monetization self-review correctly for their videos on Chucky.
Are you saying that you post your uncensored vods from Twitch to YouTube and don't have any demonetization issues so far? If that's the case then this probably won't be an issue for us after all.

I have a solution. It would stop tunneling completely and also fix body blocking to force endurance hits.
First off, remove collision from all survivors and killers in the game. I don't care if it is realistic, this is a game, and it has many issues because of this factor.
Then, make it so the last hooked survivor can only be hit if another survivor has been injured/downed/picked up/hooked/killed since the unhooking, or if the last gen is complete, or if there are only two survivors left alive. Otherwise, that survivor is immune to damage. It will obviously be necessary to make it so a damage immune survivor cannot be in the way of a hit so their immunity isn't used to body block.
-
I've said it many times but the entire lobby should not exist, in my opinion. Given the fact that BHVR put in a survey I did a few months ago whether I would like to buy cosmetic background items to show off in the lobby, I want it gone even more.
End the lobby. Queue up, start a match. If you aren't ready don't queue up! It is too easily exploited, clearly, as everyone that likes this thread's point is abusing the rank information to dodge players they don't like.
On a side note, perhaps BHVR are punishing the regular lobby dodgers by giving them this unique 'test'. Lol!
-
You shouldn't need to lower your MMR. It is entirely possible and easier than ever before. Everything about survivors has been nerfed into dust the past two years (ALL items, healing, repairing, stealth). Add to this that MMR doesn't make any difference if the queue is waiting (meaning killer has the BP bonus). You will just get grouped with whoever is waiting.
Something that works for me is to just immediately grab them out of the locker and hook them. Once survivors start thinking you aren't going for the trophy and just want to win, they tend to not care as much after they are unhooked. You wouldn't believe the number of times I've gotten the Tombstone 4k with Shape over the years. This almost always gets them to stop hiding in lockers. If it doesn't, well then hook them and move on to the next match. The key here is to not hesitate. Don't even give them any hope that they might be screwing up what you are trying to do, then they won't put as much effort into screwing you up.
Shape should be able to kill survivors with this while they are hiding in the locker.

You don't need to immediatly unhook though? You can get the free unhook and then only do it 1 second before entering stage 2? Then get chased for another 20-30 seconds minimum, get carried to hook again, 15 seconds and then have another stage, and in the meantime noone else needs to get off of a gen to come get you. This change will make facecamping much weaker, the impact on proxy camping however... well...
Why would they wait it out? Unless they are SWF they have absolutely no obligation to sit on the hook and max their boldness only to get killed anyway.

To set expectations realistically, I think the major flaw with this is that there isn't one single reason why people camp. If you ask ten people why they camped, you would get ten different answers. One person might say it's because the Survivors were being overly altruistic. Another might say that they did it because there weren't many generators left and they just wanted to secure a kill. Or camp someone specifically because they had a long chase and the Killer was frustrated. Someone might even do it just because they felt like it.
Even if we addressed every possible reason someone might camp, you'd still be left with some folks who do it just because they can and because they want to. That's assuming we even can or should fix every possible reason, though. In the case that the Killer decides to camp someone who was hard to catch, we can't exactly punish the Survivor for playing well - that's not even remotely fair. Sure, we can continue fine tuning balance to make sure that the reason why they're hard to catch isn't because they got lucky or brought strong stuff, but even if the game were perfectly balanced, one person will always be able to outplay another.
But no matter what the reason may be, the outcome is still the same. It's not fun for the person being camped to have to sit there until they eventually die with no opportunity for them to counter it. This goes beyond something being strong or one sided, it prevents someone from being able to play the game at all from that point on, and it's something we still need to address. We simply cannot turn a blind eye to a major issue until we've systematically dealt with every item on the laundry list of reasons someone might give for camping.
It is very clearly beneficial to camp and tunnel. There might be a laundry list of causes, but tunneling/killing the hooked survivor is the goal so I hope that when you release this to live servers you pay attention to how easily it will be abused.
In the case of a camping killer, speeding up the unhook with this change also speeds up the tunneling. Speeding up the survivor loss.
Please, don't think that the PTB is going to give you valid data on this, the people testing this on the PTB are going to use this the way you intended it, not exploiting the flaw but waiting out all timers instead. Solo queue will not use this the way you intended. It will be an enormous buff to tunneling there.
-
Why is nobody talking about the Camping changes? All I see right there is a great way to improve tunneling. A killer that intends to tunnel has just been given a quicker way to do it. They don't even have to wait for another survivor to show up! This will also lead to an increase in hook suicides in solo. Why would the selfish individuals that already suicide when they are first hooked bother giving the potentially camping killer another hit to help the other survivors? They will leave the match like before but now they have to use those attempts up even earlier or they will have the guaranteed unhook. Expect faster suicides and many more 3v1s with one gen done.
The way to reduce camping and tunneling (and slugging too!) is to give basekit Unbreakable if one survivor has been killed. This should be what they are doing, not improving tunneling and suicides.
I really like that BHVR is finally admitting old killers need some love but their idea of buffs really aren't going to do much.

The best fix for lobby dodging is to remove the lobby. Ready up and join a game, not a lobby.
It's existence is a means for exploiting, and given the survey I had about six months ago, asking all sorts of questions about selling lobby cosmetics, BHVR likely intend to fill it with cosmetics they will sell us. Just get rid of it now and we can all avoid the worthless time sink.
I also like the removal of depipping, but it has nothing to do with the lobby in my opinion.
-
You don't get a 10 hour ban for disconnecting twice. So, my suggestion is to stop whining, stop disconnecting from matches, and take care to finish a match before quitting the game. I would hazard a guess that 10 hours is something you get for somewhere around five and ten disconnects. Which is far to lenient, in my opinion.
And no, bots do not mean that you should receive leniency. They were not put into place so that you can DC every match that isn't going your way. In fact, I believe the reason BHVR were so hesitant to incorporate the bots because they were concerned that players like yourself would take them as a sign that DCing was all of a sudden approved. Hopefully your 10 hours remind you that is clearly not the case.

I can't tell if you're joking or not with these times
I know my suggestion is harsh. I think that BHVR needs to squash the idea that bots were introduced so DCs should be okay now completely. I've seen several threads on this since bots were introduced and I only rarely look at the forums.
I think if they implemented something this harsh, and work on an alternate way to deal with hook suicides, we would get rid of the people that quite simply don't actually want to play this game unless they get exactly the setup they want. Those people either need to play kill your friends, suck it up and play the game the way it is intended, or just leave the game entirely.
For those of you saying, 'oh, then the survivors that would have DCed will just hold the game hostage and work with the killer...' or the like. They cannot get away with that. These ideas are already against the rules and currently they will get you banned more strictly than a ban for DCing. I don't see them lightening the punishment for this at all if they increased the punishment on DCs.
Obviously I don't expect them to follow through with my idea. I would love it if they increased the penalty but I understand that my suggestion is the extreme. I do however hope that those selfish, entitled players that think if a match isn't exactly the one they want, then they should have unpunished DCs will realize that we don't want to play with them more than they don't want to play with us. So, they need to either change their mindset - suck it up and play, or stop queuing up for matches.
-
I disagree. I think they should increase the DC punishment. Bots should only be in matches where someone accidentally loses internet. The bots aren't there to cover a temper tantrum, but to support the players that aren't having internet problems and actually want to play the game.
They were never meant to incentivize DCs, and since this mindset is obviously something that has come up, please, BHVR, increase the DC penalty significantly to squash this idea entirely. I suggest:
1st DC 1 hour penalty
2nd DC 1 day penalty
3rd DC 1 week penalty
4th DC 1 month penalty
5th DC 1 year penalty

Devs already explained why in Mandy's post.
Which begs the question, why did they choose this time frame? Was it to bait posts like OP, or to disingeniously lead players to believe that MFT is not as used as everyone believes? Why didn't they just post the more recent numbers since MFT was added?
I hate the sporadic stats postings. Either post them every single month or don't post them at all, ever. Otherwise it (to me) looks like they have an agenda, a reason to post them at this specific point in time with this specific skew. This, to me and in my opinion, feels like I am being lied to.
-
I think it would be great if there are eggs all over the map. Killer's first stage is a face hugger. Hugs one survivor who is given a timer before they get mori'd. Then little xenomorph runs around until it downs a survivor and that triggers full grown...
That would be a lot of fun, but I am guessing we'll just have a xenomorph running around a lot like demogorgon. There will probably be pre-placed air duct exits like Onryo's TVs and we get another cut and paste killer. I hope not, but that is entirely what I expect.
-
I want this as well. Just like the randomizer in the tome challenges!
-
The penalty should be more, and the bots should be a rarity when someone loses internet not playing every single match.
-
Yeah, they want you to grind grind grind grind grind. They made that clear the update before last when they went back to any easier challenges in old tomes and 'updated' them to be grindier alongside the last tome which was their grindiest so far.
It is ridiculous to make the game a chore to play.
-
This challenge isn't working for me either. As killer I used the invitation to expose, and to break pallets and it didn't finish. It did pop up in the top left corner one time when I broke a pallet but then at the end screen it wasn't complete...
-
Unless BHVR changes things, it never worked that way before. So, sorry, but you'll have to do like the rest of us and earn them all a second time! GLHF!
Alternatively, you could just play the PS4 version on your PS5.
-
I'm certain you can change some of them.
When I started playing DbD, I used to throw pallets if I was trying to heal someone near a pallet because both were the same button. I went into the settings and changed them so that they are no longer the same button... so it definitely is a thing you can do for some interactions.

he didnt ignore it at all, he even showed that they can be paired them together.
I started talking about this before I even watched any creator's stuff. Get this I actually played the PTB my self. I only linked the video because he has the math and the testing. all you have is half baked insults and clear ignorance of the topic.
Built to Last has been in game for a very long time and already does what everyone is afraid of. Built to Last is actually even better at doing this, because it is 100% reliable. Built to Last also works great paired with other locker perks like Inner Healing, or this build, here:
Built to Last, Hyperfocus, Stake Out, Fast Track
Now, if that build right there is already in game. Already does what people are scared of, yet it is already proven to not be OP, then I am 100% justified in saying that Scavenger is not going to be OP. It is not going to cause a problem.
With scavenger you have to rely on luck to get skill checks, and only after you get that lucky skill check do you even have a chance to get a great skill check. That isn't a better perk, clearly, not even close to being as reliable.
-
@RoastedGarlic said:
otz broke down the math, perk is op especially when paired with built to last. you cant argue with math.
Otz created a clickbait fearmongering video. He totally ignored that there is already a perk that exists in the game that repairs you toolboxes, Built to Last, and it does it MORE THAN ONCE! It is already in game and it is already proven to NOT be overpowered.
SO, he just wants toolboxes nerfed and is hoping that if he lies to his audience about a new perk he can rile the fanatics up...
My advice, stop being a fanatic and start thinking things through for yourselves.

"Buff to camping" But why do killers camp? They camp because it gives them pressure - it either gets a survivor out of the game, or forces a trade, or multiple people to come rescue to secure a safe unhook meaning 3+ survivors have no gen pressure.
By making it so the survivor can unhook themselves the killer will only have pressure on the one survivor even if they choose to tunnel them, but why would they do that? The survivor can wait out until almost second stage, or wait until almost dead, unhook themselves, and the killer just wasted 1-2 minutes letting three other people do generators for free. Killers hate being genrushed so the only reason to facecamp after this change would be a vendetta against that single person/toxicity, no longer a valid strategy to achieve pressure and potentially win the game. This change does not incentivize camping/tunneling, it is a solution. Y'all whine about literally everything and wonder why bhvr struggles to find solutions to the problems.
If you're so worried about being tunneled following this change, run off the record and use your speed boost to make it to a safer area.
Your question can be summarized as, 'Why do killers camp?' and the answer is simple, it works. If you don't think it works you are quite simply factually wrong. It would work even better if the survivor can unhook themselves. How would it be worse for the killer than another survivor unhooking right in front of them? This feature will provide a potentially faster cycle through hook stages if the hooked survivor uses the self unhook, and if they don't self unhook the stages will work the same way they always have. Which we have already established is exactly what the camping killer wanted...
Therefore it is clearly, without a shadow of a doubt, a buff to camping.

You need to either get your long term memory looked at, or go back and look at the history of PTBs in this game. THEY TRIED PAUSING THE PROGRESSION BAR TO STOP FACE CAMPING. You know why it didn't work? Because survivors decided to abuse the hell out of it and force the killer to stay near hooked targets so that the bar never progressed.
You just misread what was said. The pause I suggested was to the self unhook feature they are talking about adding. Pausing that progress...
-
Yes, this is a camping buff. This idea was not thought all the way through.
Here is how to fix the idea! Give the survivor another hook state if they have to unhook themselves using this method. In that situation the survivor being tunneled off first hook would still be on first hook and the killer will gain nothing for camping. Also, if there is a survivor near the hook pause the progress of this feature completely.
CAMPING WAS NEVER THE ISSUE! The problem was the loss of a hook state and/or the tunneling that followed being camped. If this goes live the way BHVR suggested killers have even more incentive to face camp, NOT LESS! There goal was always to get a second phase/kill out of the face camp, and the self unhook pretty much guarantees that even easier than it is now.
-
If a country is going through a disaster or something, promoting helping them through their flag would be great, but a nation's flag can mean entirely different things to different people.
What about countries that enforce backwards ideas. Those flags would allow the players to show off their support for those agendas?
I say let's just leave national flags out of the game. Keep DbD as far away from the world politics as it can be.
-
I play A LOT of online games on Playstation, from Dark Souls to Minecrafts, and even MMOs like ESO and STO. The only gaming genres I don't get into significantly are battle royale shooters and sports games.
That being said, I have never had a single hate message from any of my PVP opponents in any game, EVER, except DbD. Every single PS4 DbD player that is upset seems to think that threatening your life or calling you racist terms is fun and funny. I got tired of wasting time reporting those idiotic people. Hence the blocking of ALL communication. BTW Sony isn't as limp wristed about this as BHVR. They will ban you almost immediately from all online games for one hate message, at least temporarily if not permanently. So don't do it!
Why do we have such a toxic community? The answer is the psychology of playing the role of a killer or a victim. For many it can lead to upset feelings of hatred and despair, to say the least. It is not the same as running around in GTA or invading in Dark Souls. Often the messages I would receive in DbD weren't from the players I beat in the game, but those who beat me. Sore winners abound in Dead by Daylight and it is disgusting.
My advice, just turn off all communication while playing DbD.
-
Yeah I like this idea. Last anniversary it felt like every single match was 4x cake and a mori offering.
Make this year's cake only give the bonus blood to the players that bring that offering. I dare you BHVR.
-
I didn't read everything everyone said, but in my opinion it has to do with adding an event tome to the rift. The first deep rift had an extra tome with Hag's merperson cosmetic, right?
In other words I believe they are giving us that extra time because they will probably have an anniversary event tome which takes place in May/June sometime. This is also why so many people finished that last time, the extra tome meant extra rift fragments and easier completion.
-
There is a major flaw in the auto-leveler, especially for new players that you seem to be concerned about, and that is always grabbing the worst items, add-ons, and offerings.
If you were able to use this on Prestige 1, you could end up with a P3 character that has ~0 iridescent, Purple, and Green things.
How useful will that character be, then? Oh, you'll have all perks, but that is easy to get already. You NEED to level them up yourselves if you ever want to play that character!

Two reasons I would just leave:
I often start a raid for a couple extra synthite from tombs when I only need a few for a base reset or prestige. That being said, if you painted a path to the tombs I will attempt your base, probably giving you a death or more before I leave and give you accolades on your design. If you put traps on or blocked the tombs, I will leave without having died and will not give you any accolades whatsoever. If you incorporated the tombs into your base, then everything depends on how unique your design is as to whether I'll make an attempt to get them or just leave.
During regular raiding there is one style of base that is killing the game, in my opinion. If you copied the most common base of a single path through lava with traps under the feet of guards on either side... I'm bored of that. Those uninspired unoriginal copycat bases are beyond boring and this is just week two. They are making the game not worth the effort it takes. If I see that type of base I will happily not waste my time and just leave.
-
I believe this problem stems from having upgraded your character in coop. Piece of advice, ONLY UPGRADE IN SOLO MODE!
I upgraded my ranged suit in coop. From that moment forward the melee upgrade tier 1 was attached to it and unchangable until I earned both masteries. Now I have master fire rate, master magnetic, and master melee lunge, but I can only equip one thing when playing coop and I have to switch the ranged suit biolink out from the melee biolink every single coop raid.
The weapons also suffer from the leveling in coop issue. I leveled up my Volt Lancer in order to get the extra bullet and it didn't give it to me. After a while I bought another weapon, and now I can force it to remember I bought the upgrade by switching my loadout every single coop raid.
That's right, the game can't remember for longer than a few minutes that I have those upgrades or even what things I had equipped.

Why is everyone obsessed with countering every little thing a killer can do? Franklins isn't supposed to be countered by design. Items are a luxury, not an entitlement. Learn to play without them, you'll be better for it.
I don't think you understand what luxury means. Items are forced to be bought while a player levels. The entire game is balanced around survivors bringing them. In fact, they are expected to bring them. A luxury is something few are meant to have and is somewhat difficult to get.
Items are, in many matches, a necessity, and at the very least they are a tool expected to be used.
By the way, Franklin's is easily countered with Built to Last, as well as just sitting your item on the ground, so saying that it isn't supposed to be countered is also wrong.
As to the OP, @NovaKane, I think White Ward should have the OP's suggestion built into it. They should also make the broken key a single use item that knocks an add-on out of the killer's hands. Counterable by a Black Ward.
-
Personally, I don't feel like there is any reason to run the lower tier raids. Maybe someone else can fill us in.
The highest tier immediately unlocks the champion level, and rewards you more for your time. Meanwhile, the lower tier bases can actually be just as difficult and can take as long as the highest tier.

As much as I loathe this perk as much as Sideshow Bob hates Bart, I need to point out you know EXACTLY who does not have Dead Hard:
If you have not hooked them, they don't have it.
That's a great point. I wonder if Executioner's cage will count as an unhook for DH. It doesn't for anything I can think of at the moment. Will Executioner be able to completely eliminate DH?!
It would be nice if they just changed what it does completely, but the change from safe unhooks to getting unhooked is a VERY good one. I absolutely hated the idea of using safe unhooks as the trigger, it would be bad for the game for so many reasons.
-
There is no way that tunneling will decrease, when after the update it will be even more beneficial to down the unhooked survivor who can't have Dead Hard activated and stop them from activating the unhooker's Dead Hard with a safe unhook.
It is going to be the worst it has ever been, and Killers will have more justifiable reasons than ever before to do it. Especially when, in solo queue, the change to Dead Hard is going to cause the survivors to line up at the hook so they can activate their Dead Hard like they used to do for We're Gonna Farm Forever.

I don't think they did realize this.
So, in case you don't understand, @King_Viper , OTR is Off the Record, a version of borrowed time that works for the person that brings the perk.
Get it. Use it. That's what you wanted.
-
This will be a non issue in a couple of weeks when everyone has to use Inner Healing again, the only good heal left after the next update.
Then survivors will be complaining about fighting over totems.
-
Pharmacy is getting nerfed significantly.
Inner Healing will be the only good healing perk, good luck fighting over totems, and second place will be We'll Make It.
-
They clearly want us to quit playing Dead by Daylight and buy their new franchise. Not going to happen.
Before they can justify these healing changes they need to fix tunneling and disconnects. These changes will make it easier and more rewarding to tunnel. What are they even thinking?!
-
I'm the opposite. I like to plan ahead and want to know whether to set aside some money for a game. Since I have no knowledge of what DBD is offering, it is going to go to someone more reliable. In the horror genre alone we have Dead Space, Resident Evil 4, and even Dead Island 2 which are either out or coming out right around the same time frame.
-
The way it was explained to me:
Clicking the 'not made for kids' checkmark means it will not show up on YOUTUBE KIDS.
If you click the opposite checkmark, my understanding is that it will disable comments and make the video available on the Kids platform.
The 'age restricted' videos are demonitized, removed from recommendations, and just all around suppressed. If you don't have a fan base that is seeking out your videos and in episode sponsors it ruins the monetization for that video completely

It DEFINITELY will. Every single time I am working on a head-on, inner healing, flashbang, or built to last build I get some idiot survivor in my team that thinks it is their job to monitor what you are doing and they get in the way, or worse, disconnect, or even worse, point to the locker you are in.
So now they will be able to monitor everyone, everywhere, all of the time. Great.
Time to increase the DC penalty to at a minimum 1 hour for the first offense!

Windows really isn't as good as everyone thinks. If you play the game enough you know where the pallets and windows should be. The only advantage above that is knowing which ones have been used. To some degree Windows is actually a bad perk, because the players that use it tend to throw way more pallets than they personally are allotted in a match (if they divided the pallets by four) and this leaves less pallets for everyone else while only extending a chase a little bit longer.
I personally feel that Windows of Opportunity is the perfect example of an over-hyped perk. A bunch of streamers starting showing off how useful it can be for a new player and all their survivor main followers started using it like the cultists they are. This happens regularly. I bet these streamers could start hyping up how great Iron Will still is (it is bad now) and some people would blindly follow them totally oblivious to the fact that it deactivates when you are exhausted. There are a lot of reasons you can become exhausted that don't include personal speed boosts.

I'm currently putting together a thing, but basically tracking my last 300 games on both killer and survivor. At 200ish now, and it's bonkers.
At least a third of my games as killer have someone quitting - be it a DC, a suicide or an AFK.
Slightly less on survivor, which makes sense because I'm one of them.
Me bringing flans or streamers had no effect on the rate of quitting, so I don't think a reward for not quitting would have much of an effect.
Short term - DC penalty only decays when you play out matches without DCing. Remove kobes - these serve no purpose in the game other than an 'I quit' button for the most part, and that other 4% of the time it becomes really annoying for the killer. Rebalance and rework perks as needed.
Long term - DC or AFK players are replaced by bots.
Bot replacement would be great, but BHVR have said they have no intention of putting the bots in the live matches. This was their response, I believe, to the exact suggestion you made.
Earlier today I gave my suggestion for increasing the punishment in the other thread complaining about not being able to DC. I think they should be more strict. MUCH more strict. It is too small a punishment at the moment and the players that don't mind taking a short bathroom break or using their blood are exploiting the generosity BHVR has given them.

Thank god you don’t work for with the dev team.
So, you think it's okay how it is? Like people know that they can just DC once or twice per day and have absolutely no punishment because the timer is so small and the cooldown is so fast.
It takes you longer to spend the blood you've earned than the 5 minute timer for a DC. That makes the whole system a waste of time and money and only molly coddles the players that are totally oblivious to the facts. The only players it is stopping from playing are those that have bad internet and shouldn't be playing online games anyway. Those that are using DC to be jerks or are just lazy are still fully capable of doing that.
Obviously if they went with my strict idea they would have to fix bug DCs and have an appeal process.

DCing is the exact opposite of wasting other people's time. It turns a 7-10-minute escape attempt into as little as 2-3, if that.
The Killer is not obligated to help Survivors finish archives, or dailies, or anything else. If they were, then where's the penalty for downing a Survivor when they're trying to pick up a glyph?
Wrong. If I am in a match, every second of my time in that match spent will be wasted if the killer DCs.
Wrong again. YOU ARE OBLIGATED TO PLAY IF YOU QUEUE UP. You agreed to do it by clicking ready. If you don't like it, too bad.
