Actually, survivors have to put in a lot of effort in a chase. The only exception is holding W... The only option they have against Freddy.
As someone who plays a lot of survivor i have to disagree in most cases
-
Not like there's many options due to their slow nature

The thing with Freddy is that there isn't any counterplay that wouldn't be disadvantageous to the survivors in some way. The high killrate has nothing to do with DCs or hook-suids, but more with that:
- Survivors will fall asleep automatically, getting a disadvantage in the form of Oblivious, dream pallets and snares
- Waking up through another survivor takes longer and longer, keeping people 'locked' in one place.
- Waking up through missing skill-checks gives away one's position and regresses gens/uses up med-kits etc
- Waking up through the alarmclock keeps you away from gens/totems and leaves you rather out in the open
Add to that that Freddy can teleport willy-nilly (or pretty much so), and all this without any addons taken into account. you have Killer that is very easily exploitable, and that's an issue he shares with Bubba, pig and spirit.
The concepts of them are fine, but once you add scummy brats into the equation...
Thus, the best changes to any of these killers would be changes that take away how easy their abilities are exploitable, scaring brats off of them. If the devs can pull that off both sides would have more 'fun' playing with/against these killers.
I fail to see how these killers are exploitable, Bubba is the closest to that but even then there are options even if it does suck at times

Freddy is disgustingly easy for how strong he is. It doesn't really take any skill to slap down a snare and hit someone, it doesn't take any skill to have a secondary power that could pretty much be renamed "free map pressure," it doesn't take any skill to do anything Freddy does. That's why people are sick of him. That's why people want him nerfed. He's like Spirit, using denial as a weapon, but even easier because you can just slap on some music and not really pay attention and still 4k the majority of your trials. Trust me, I've done it. And I am not a good killer.
That's not to say I hate easy killers, I just don't think they should be extremely strong killers as well.
Then I think the survivors should need more effort in counterplay if that's the logic we are going by yes?
-
Demo is a good choice..hes performing low but is well loved from a design view..so he's safe to change for now..some of the others may need more work

Neither of the Killers on your list were gutted, lol.
@Topic: It would be nice if Freddy would require more than 2 Braincells to be played. He is far too easy given how strong he is. Not saying that he is the strongest Killer, but A-Tier for sure and by far the easiest to play.
Thats not necessarily a bad thing considering the countrrplay to killers is rarely difficult

I have no issues with him or any killer being strong -although I'd prefer licenced killers/perks aren't on the stronger side because the whole ptw thing- but I prefer the stronger killers require a higher level of skill, practice, or strategy than what Freddy takes. That's just how I feel about it though.
While I understand it i can't say its a fair standpoint

The slow down add ons by themselves are very mediocre. The problem is when they’re stacked together and with other slowdowns like Thana, Pop, Ruin, etc. Calling it “forever Freddy” is hyperbole but it is cheesy. That’s why I think they should go, survivors hate them and they’re not good enough that anyone who actually plays Freddy often would miss them.
Honestly I agree with that..may give him something more interesting

It can be used far easier than clowns bottles, you dont even need to calculate where they are going to land, you just put them down while looping and call it a day.
Thats not true..if you place them too close to the pallet it'll be the same as a clown bottle and then..pallet down, power useless
-

All I am seeing is a brain dead killer with godly map pressure and slow down and better anti loop potential than clown.
How is it better when its the same as clown but can't be upgraded or thrown..so that makes little sense to me
-
@RocketPenguin said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1792806#Comment_1792806
not the slow addons but the slow itself just removes all skill from a chase
Its literally just the same as clowns but can't be improved and has no penalty just like Freddy...yet clown is bottom tier..the slow isn't the issue
-
@xenotimebong said:
I do think Freddy needs some small changes and hopefully that’s all they’ll give him, minor tweaks. His slow down add ons are a bit overkill and could easily go, his ability to just spam snares with no drawback is a little too much, and the fact that he can ignore BT is silly. I’d be happy if they removed the Oblivious status effect from his power altogether so that he doesn’t get to ignore BT, but also isn’t so heavily countered by Object.
I don’t think Freddy is as bad as a lot of survivors say, he’s not busted or anything. He just needs a couple of things reining in IMO.
My issue with bt is the stigma that it needs to be foolproof..not a fan really, the slowdown add-ons i could care less in their current shabby state and it would remove another excuse for survivors..still to this day people straw man the old forever freddy builds that are frankly dead
-
@RocketPenguin said:
I think freddy needs some nerfs.
I think we can all agree on the fact that red paint is completely op and needs nerfs at least.
But his slows are just wayyyyy to annoying to go against because its just put mid loop and if your asleep you always get hit no matter your reaction time or skill.
I think he definetly needs to lose the garunteed hits because thats what pisses off survivors the most. The amount of times i see freddies respect pallets and just wait for me to fall alseep to win a chase is just insane. Survivor hate comes from no interaction not strength of the killer.
for the fact that he might be nerfed too much, im not really worried because i think recently the only nerf that went too far was billy but hes still fine but not were he should be imo.
Red paint brush is..ok , its an Irish do go figure its good. The slow addons..its whatever..though tbh they're weaker than you think..nearly useless actually
-
@Todgeweiht said:
His killrate is way too high compared to other killers and he is too easy to play for how much he offers. I will be looking forwards to his nerf, hopefully clown gets a considerable buff too.
Then your not thinking objectively, your looking at the numbers but not asking why..when you ask why..you see those numbers are useless currently
-
Freddy has some of the easiest counterplay in game, I think your issues lie more with how he plays rather than his strength
-

Let's hope for something similar they did to PH..
Perhaps..depending on what they are targeting
-
@HellDescent said:
It's kind of funny to hear them say that just because the killer is strong. He's not op but he's doing well - lets nerf him meanwhile there is no killer besides him, spirit and nurse that can stand up to a team of well coordinated swf, deal with genrush. And half the killers in the game are a laughing stock especially on bigger maps
This is why I feel this is important..they're not looking at this as they should

Hey, I agree, i know that good survivors don't have problem versing Freddy, but 90% of community are noobs who don't want to play differently, they want every killer to be looped the same way.. I'm just hoping they won't totally destroy him and add something in return..
That's why I'm here..after billy..im loath to trust blindly
-
@Healthore77992 said:
Well, DS is getting changed, so we kind got even?
not at all..a perk that is constantly creating problems especially with other perks..is far different from a killer that is being targeted due to stats that can't be trusted for too many reasons

@Raccoon said:
What could possibly go wrong?
*looks at Nurse vanishing from the game*
*looks at Billy vanishing from the game*
Precisely..these devs are not delicate with killer changes..and I'm not standing by and waiting quietly this time..im tired of it

@Dustin said:
If Freddy's killrate is high it's likely because people just suicide on hook against him. Even in my rank 1 games people suicide against him because they find him boring to play against. His current power is good but imo it needs some refining to be more engaging. Everything is there it just needs to be made more fun to play around. I still feel like the Dream Pallets are the more fun game mechanic to play against. That's why I kept saying the snares and pallets should be available at all times and share the current charges he has now. Would require Freddy to manage resources more but that's just me.
I think it has more to do with how accessible he is at lower tiers compared to say spirit or nurse or blight
-
@StibbityStabbity said:
Personally, I hate playing against Freddy. I don't think he's SUPER HIGH TIER, though. For me, his issue is how strong he is at a baseline. His baseline stats are pretty strong, but his skill ceiling is pretty low. I personally wouldn't mind seeing him LOSE some of his baseline power, but give the remaining abilities a small boost so that he becomes more focused. Excels at some things, stumbles on others. Right now, he's almost a jack of all trades, master of none. An amazing Freddy won't compete with an amazing Nurse, but a bad Freddy will dominate over a bad Nurse.
I suppose I see your point..I just worry because the devs are rarely subtle
-
Not even close..the killer is too slow at everything
-
Against anyone with a brain they're terrible...
-
God help us at this point..this could be the most killer breaking patch yet

I'm saying it being super dark is also a problem at least for me the other things tou listed are also a problem
I suppose it is with characters like Adam and claudette
-
@terumisan said:
It's dark as hell on console i struggle chasing on certain maps not to mention the visual updates makes the maps even darker
Its not the darkness..its the fact that survivors can hide under your fov, a frame drop makes them dissapear, etc..the fov is way too restrictive
-
@TKTK said:
I think it'd be fair with how sounds for killers are in the toilet now, survivors can run past the killer on some maps and the footsteps just are to low to hear or the chase music is ear bleedingly loud for no reason other than to give survivors another chance to get away.
Yeah..sounds break every patch after they finslly get fixed
-
@Flatskull said:
Depending on the killer, especially with the new sort of "black mist" effect in newer maps I legit can lose a survivor that runs past me even though I was looking right at them. If my FPS drops for even a fraction of a second every survivor vanishes and with how osunds are, it's hard to locate them.
It's frankly intolerable.
I feel your pain...optimization issues just make this worse
-
@AetherBytes said:
Blight has a low camera so you dont run onto small props you didnt see
I'd trade the camera in a heartbeat
-
2 things..1..make abilities work on it, and 2..increase the range so it may actually matter
-
@ALostPuppy said:
The amount of times I've commented on here saying I want an FOV slider...that's literally the only thing I want in DbD at this point , I couldn't care less about if they never fix Billy anymore he's dead to me. But the FOV is a universal thing and I'm seriously considering stretching my res for killer because I'm sick of it being so abysmally low.
Such an easy QoL change that they will never make because it's just that.
Its just silly..the devs need to realize game health and quality is way more important than some misguided vision they may have
-
@Rivyn said:
Still don't see why it has to be so dark for killers. They're killers, meant to be predators. Brighten it up a bit.
The darkness is the least of my concern here but I feel you to an extent
-
@Warcrafter4 said:
I can't fully remember but didn't the devs say blight is getting his camera adjusted?
But I don't know if they ever gave us a date on that change so who knows if/when it will actually happen.
Yes supposedly it'll get revisited..but blight is just the biggest stain on this particular issue
-
I just want killers to have a bit more fov..just add shadowborn to base and rework it,, remove the fov from monitor..it'll be a really nice qol to killers
-
Just give him an extra trap, let him reload at lockers, update an add on or two maybe..boom

I play a lot of both roles, more survivor, I have found many less skillful players will win with undying ruin and ds unbreakable. I see a lot of people call for a ds nerf but I think if we nerf ds why not undying to?
Undying has massive counterplay, requires two perk slots to be hexes in order to get any value from the perk, and as hexes can be eliminated from the match by survivors
Ds is constantly causing issues with other perks, does more than its supposed to do, has very little counterply or none with certain perks , and is arguably the best perk in dbd as even when its not on you it can save your life ,
That is why ds is complained about..the design has massive problems..undying makes hexes actually usable..quite a big difference
-
@OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

What consistent counterplay does she have then?
Pretty much every spirit uses stridor and being forced to use a certain perk in order to have a chance against a killer is bad design
I don't use iron or strider yet I can do great as and against her both ways, so if I can do it I'm sure others can too, and of course spirits will use it..I personally don't like how it messes with my distance gauging but when iron will makes her so much harder to play you can't blame them..as for counterplay..its the same counterplsy as if the killer was behind a wall, baits, feints, using her lack of collision , fire barrels and gens to mask footsteps, spine chill, q and q, dance with me, I know a thing or two about spirit my friend

Scott uses half baked data for his experiments
-
Shes already got it if your smart enough to use it..strider can be dabated but yhats the perk not spirit..plus tbh iron will exists as well
-
@UnknownlyKnown said:
Agreed. I rarely get bloodlust ever, as I just break pallets and use my power before bloodlust comes into effect. Which is what all killers should do. The true skill of killers should come out around now.
Not every killer is designed that way..

Ah..another post that has 0 logical backing and would rather smear people instead...
-
@TKTK said:
Leave M&A's secondary effect alone take away the fov bonus and just give shadowborne a new bonus would be my idea if they let killers have shadowborne base, the chase music drowns out any sounds anyway and sounds get bugged every other patch so letting killers see more would be great cause the devs have constantly been nerfing the sounds for a while now, intentional or not.
I Had the same idea a while back

Can you explain the bug.Didn't really notice anything tbh
Apparently its nurse exclusive from what others are saying but I've seen quite a few people think this should be a base line for killer as a better fov or option to change it has been an old request that clearly needs support if they'll even consider it
-
@ABannedCat said:
I 100% agree they should keep this.
Other multiplayer games let you have FOV up ton 120°, but we in Dbd are stuck at 87°. What a weird number, 87. It feels like the FOV originally was 90, but was later made smaller by a few degrees for whatever reason.
I Heard it was reduced due to being able to look inside lockers by pressing their face in the corner of it..sounds rather dumb tbh but yeah survivors get full 3rd person view..killer should at least not be looking through a telescope..its honestly not cool
-
@Sonzaishinai said:
I want a perk or killer that has a 360° fov. Just to see how much it would mess with my brain playing like that

The deactivation conditions are imo the best..the paused timer can be abused and makes slugs invincible
