I've been feeling crushingly depressed all day and nothing helps me feel better like running into a bully squad (/s); constantly getting hit with Head-On and not even when in chases; I'd just be walking by a locker while patrolling and they would hit me with it. Constant teabagging after pallet drops and vaults and so on.

It made me want to just quit the match rather than put up with that kind of behavior except I'd be the one who gets punished by the system. I could have just gone to a corner and AFK'ed but most toxic survivor players will hold the game hostage if they can and refuse to leave until the EGC is just about to end, standing in the exit gates just so they can mock you knowing there's nothing you can do to stop them from escaping.

It's the sort of thing that just makes me want to quit playing DbD outright. I ended up sobbing after the match for 15 minutes because it was the straw that broke the camel's back for me after how miserable I had been feeling all day.

  • Never got to play on Hawkins, so I would quite like to see either that one, or a general an "underground base that unleashed something horrible" map. Seems like a shoo-in for one of the Resident Evil chapters.

  • The problem with Overzealous is the part where the killer can see your aura as soon as you gain the speed boost.

Or at least, that's how it feels to use it on my Clairvoyance / Inner Healing / Overzealous / Small Game build.

  • Hey guys, is this the post where we humble-brag about how high our MMR is?

  • Guys, if I say I don't have a problem with a perk everyone hates, does that make people think I'm a super skilled player?

Yeah fear is subjective and what's scary to someone else may not be scary to me. I get this. I'm not even saying the dolls are or aren't scary. I think it possibly could work. Just not Chucky.

If it was anyone else then Yeah but Chucky has lost all its scare factorr to be horror anymore. It's a comedy now imo.

But hey if you want Chucky or Chucky like killer in the game then to each their own. I would much rather prefer an original doll killer then a licensed one

Curse of Chucky was pretty effective as straight horror.

With that said, it would be hilarious to see Jennifer Tilly (as Jennifer Tilly) and / or Redman (as Redman) as the Survivors, even if the grown-up kid from the first trilogy would be more obvious.

  • I'd like it better if it just....looked nice, or had something distinctive. Instead, it's a few generic ruined buildings and loads and loads of scatter terrain, including impassable piles of straw.

  • @TigerSnake said:

Make stronger Hex perks. Devour Hope, Third Seal, Face The Darkness, and many more are atrociously weak.

Devour Hope is in that obnoxious spot where it's weak against SWF's (who drop everything and hex hunt) and strong against solos (who don't).

  • The thing about it is, even the maps that aren't that good gameplay-wise still look pretty cool and thematic. Worst I can think of is the Game, and even that one has a lot of cool easter eggs and neat-looking locations. Eyrie and Garden both look gorgeous. The Borgo...is just stuff scattered around with a few ruined buildings. It feels the most generic.

That would be very hard mid-game as the Killer. xD

I've also heard it on Macmillan. I swear, this damn wooden clonk sound is everywhere...

I dunno, I can see Trickster being obsessed with himself.

  • I wondered why NoED didn't tell me where survivors were. I mean, it said they were "Exposed", so why can't I see them?

  • Gotta love the impassable piles of straw.

how low mmr you need to be to catch Eruption? ( except nerse blight )

even in solo q all you do is see a man in chase injured - get of gen - then pops eruption - continue 30 sec gen with prove thyself

new Patch -genrush- hi i see small claws on injured - get of gen - eruption - genrrush- hi i see picked up surv - get of gen - Dead man Switch - genrush - hey its 3 gens done on first hook - delete game

And how do you know they're going to go down after being injured? How do you know they're not going to run the killer for a length of time where you could easily have done the gen? How do you know the killer is actually still chasing them, rather than having broken it off for any number of reasons?

Of course, there is a way to know, called "be in a SWF". The players who are already the hardest for a killer to deal with aren't actually impaired by this at all, it just punishes solos. That's the big problem.

I really wish there was a button to wait for a more accurate match. I know most people wouldn't click it even high level swfs who win most games, but I would. Although my big issue with that is it would probably just result in squads running 4 med-kits with anti-hems instead of their skill level actually improving too much. I've been gloating in forums for the past month about 12:00-4AM on NA having pretty accurate matches but all of a sudden I guess due to Christmas break, I feel myself going against players not up to me. So that check box for accurate matches would make me play more for sure.

I would hit that button so hard my keyboard would break.

  • I will admit, it's clear that I'm missing some things, mainly when it comes to just finding people. Hacking aside, I'm constantly confused by how other killers seem to be able to constantly get on top of my teammates when I play survivor and never have any spans where they're just trying to find people....especially when post-game shows they have no intel perks,

Why are you so offended with my suggestion? I read the first half where you said you were wanting to learn a new killer but you can’t properly learn because of the “Obvious SWF” and “Genrush Squad” survivors you faced.

I will ask again, why not go into a custom match with bots so that you can… learn a new killer?

I addressed that in the part of my post you didn't read. If you want to discuss that, we can.

  • @RaSavage42 said:

Well... take each match as it's own... Don't let the losses pile on... Focus on one thing at a time

But what kind of advise do you want??? How too's on playing Killer cause you did bring up Clown...

I may be wrong cause it's all about you as a player

Clown: Yes... paying attention to the arc of the bottles is important but treat it like a molotov (If you have played a game with them)

Either use them as a "no-go" zone or to push Survivors into a zone you want

Like I said, I'm not sure I do want advice, I just want to vent a bit. Right now, it feels like my choice is either to not play killer, go full scumbag or to constantly lose and get taunted. Not a good choice.

It wouldn't be half as bad if I didn't get teams of potatoes when I switched to playing survivor (my definition of "potato" being that I'm doing the most objectives out of the whole team), and I'm like "where were you guys in my last killer game"?

  • @Mockingjay_S451 said:

Very long post so didn’t read all, but why don’t you practice a new killer in a custom match with bots? That’s what it is there for.

You're right, you really didn't read it all.

    Moving on.

  • It's super easy to fix. Just add that after being stunned by Head On, the killer can't be affected again by it for (period of time less than T1 Head On cooldown). No effect when using it as intended, shuts down the chain-stun bully squads.

  • A healing challenge guarantees Plague.

A "let's just chill" build on a killer guarantees a SWF command elite squad.

  • Whenever I get frustrated and do run anything super-powerful as a killer, that's when I run into the rookie teams and I just feel bad.

That, and I don't feel like there's much point in learning something OP, since it's probably going to be nerfed.

  • @Nirgendwohin said:

you must have a really good gaming chair.

Is it possible to learn this power?

  • @MaTtRoSiTy said:

Unless you are in a SWF on comms where you can call out to your team mates you are about to go down... you literally cant, there is no counter play.

Pain Res seemed like it was going to be too OP in the early days but by comparison it is an absolute pleasure to deal with as solo survivor. At least there is counter even if you cannot stop the regression side of it and you can still play the game if you are stupid enough to get hit with it.

I think the incapacitated status should be retired, it is a terrible mechanic that should never be in the game

Incapacitated makes sense when it's something like being jumped on by Victor, because that gives you something else to do. Most other debuffs let you do something, even if you're worse at it, or lack certain capabilities. Eruption is fairly unique in that you just have to stand around uselessly for half a minute, unharmed but somehow inexplicably unable to work on ANY generator, or even open chests. And even that wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't so spammable.

  • I'd like to add two others:

--The ones who seem to mistake attempts to heal them for a second Killer coming after them. Nothing like chasing someone halfway across the map, and getting looped around a building while I just want them to sit down and let me heal them. When I finally break off, they will inevitably get downed within ten seconds, of course.

--The lost lamb. If they find a generator with no slots left, they'll just stand there helplessly.

Ok so we're not allowed to have fun with friends... Fun world we all should be alone without friends i get it... Killer is dead soloQ is broken you get teammates with 20 hours or gods... Its unreliable as hell unless you play with friends

If you're just playing with friends for fun, why do you care if a change makes groups less powerful?

That's actually a real issue with the game. In most games you can play the game from beginning to end even if you do bad, here you can't, and getting slugged or facecamped also means you aren't even playing anymore.

That's what I like about playing survivor. If you have a bad game, you're out of it quickly, and able to get in a new queue.

If you have a bad game as killer, you're stuck there to the end and for the entire duration of the exit timer (because we can't miss a single chance to teabag, can we?), even though the game is 100% decided.

  • The wannabe bully squad. They'll swarm the killer, flashlight the back of their head, sabotage hooks while the killer is two feet away, try to body block and unhook after five seconds. They might be moderately good at it, but they're not actually doing gens while this is going on, do not make any effort to scatter and leave the killer without targets, nor are they good enough to do it indefinitely. So they'll just slowly die while I try to solo gens on the other side of the map.

And the Teletubbies, who just aimlessly run around in circles while the Killer is on the other side of the map.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

It has been really frustrating as SBMM has turned more and more into old ranked matchmaking. So many survivors have zero game sense whatsoever. They don't pay any attention to where they're running and effectively block all gen progress in a 3/4 gen because to most players and content creators "long chase good, short chase bad". It's actually terrible survivor play to have a minute long chase in a 3 gen and die in it. Throwing the game. A 10 second chase in a good area is always better than a 60 second chase in gens that need to get done.

So much of high level survivor play amounts to running in the correct direction and players *struggle* with the concept.

I wouldn't mind...if I ran into the same players when I was playing killer. But nope, always the 4-man SWF commando elite death squads.

  • I get hooked by the Trapper as Yun-Jin.

Of course, he traps the area around the hook.

Bill and Mikaela come in to rescue me!

Like anyone else in that situation, I'm silently praying they look at the floor.

    They don't.

But they miss the traps and unhook me!

Then they turn around and, at the EXACT same moment, both step in a trap.

    oops1 - Copy.png

  • Devour Hope. When I play against it, it's pretty much a guaranteed killer win, because nobody else will stop what they're doing and hex hunt. When I play it, it pops within a minute

  • What, you don't like the soothing sound of Wackawackawackawackawackawackawackawackawackawackawackawackawackawackawackawackawackawacka....

  • Please tell me you were playing Wraith or Doctor.

  • Hey guys, I've got a question. If I say I never have any problems with Nurse because of my skill, does that make me one of the cool kids?

  • Have you ever actually....PLAYED a multiplayer game with voice comms?

  • @ArchAbhor said:

You keep "losing" because you keep being paired up with bad teammates. When escaping 100% is a team effort. No matter how good you are if your team cant play right you will lose. Thus giving you more potatoes. Low MMR hell. Luckily the devs have a fix down the pipeline for it.

You keep getting better teams when you play killer because winning is more in your hands. So If you are even remotely good at killer eventually you will reach top mmr and face the sweat squads. It makes the game kind of unfun but once you understand the bs its easier to not get so mad about it.

Its up to the devs to fix it. My suggestion is to make your effort on the team count towards survivors "winning" and raise the soft cap on mmr

This explains a LOT, especially about the killer experience. It seems to be a limit of about five good matches with any given killer before they get put into the All-SWF All The Time Stop Having Fun Jail.

  • I think the common factor is when it feels like it doesn't matter what I do. Legion, you're gonna get hit and you can't outrun them. Wraith, because you don't interact with them until they decide they're going to start chasing you now. Hag because they always bring Devour Hope and the team always lets it go to level 5 rather than dropping everything and hex hunting. Huntress because there's nothing like being wounded by an axe that flies by six inches away from your arm. God Nurses (not bad nurses or the rare GOOD Nurse, they're pretty fun) where I know two minutes in that I could just DC now and have absolutely no effect on the match. Also Trapper--yes, I know he's not overpowered by any means, but it feels annoyingly random whether or not teammates step in the traps and get the snowball started.

Bonus points for Huntress and Legion due to how annoying their music is.

  • @GoshJosh said:

Don’t play PvP games if moving pixels hurt your soul.

Yeah, no. Setting out to make someone else feel bad is a lousy thing to do. Don't defend it, or demand that other people excuse it.

This sort of stuff is the main reason I don't play killer more. I have lousy games as survivor too, but they're over quick and I can get into a new lobby. Being stuck in a game with a bully squad just makes me want to DC before I end up tense, angry and actively hating the game.

  • @TheNTT777 said:

I've always wanted every killer in the game to have their own map or realm. Obviously that's a big ask for licensed killers who currently don't have their own maps, but at least the original killers should all have one.

Not really sure what Blight or Twins' maps would be, but I always see people wishing for a neon city map for Trickster.

    How about...

Twins: The creepy cult temple from their backstory.

Blight: Either the other side of the Tree of Death, or a warped and twisted version of an 1800's Chinese slum where Talbot's hallucinations merged with the actual place, centered around a hallucinogenic opium den.

Reading the comments, it does seem a bit peculiar that there isn't really a "haunted house" map, given what an absolute classic horror trope it is. Garden, Midwich and RPD approach it in different ways, but neither of them really fit the classic image. Something like the mist-shrouded manor house in "The Others".

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7pKqaPtMiA

One I'd love to see (it occurred to me when I suggested Judge Death as a licensed killer) would be a post-apocalyptic map of some kind, in the same style as "Last Of Us" or "Metro".

  • Stack them enough, and you can throw a survivor into a different game!

  • @ProfessorDunwich said:

A bad SoloQ game is way better than getting bullied by SWF as Killer IMO.

Pretty much. Rotten game as a Survivor, at least it's over fast and I can get into a new game. Killer, you're stuck there until the exit timer has one second to go.

  • @BrightWolf said:

Yeah, and it's becoming super obvious who's in a swf too. Even if they're not good, because of how coordinated they are and how they always seem to be around eachother to rescue etc.

Nothing against ppl who play in swfs, because that's how I started playing DbD. But can you at least have the decency not to be on Discord?

The tell for me is that you NEVER surprise anyone, because they've been alerted by their buddies where you are at all times (which is what, three perks worth of free info?). So every chase is longer and less interactive, more gens pop, and more guided tours of Pallet City.

A good SWF team is effectively unbeatable for me, and just feels like a frustrating and dull waste of time. MMR is virtually irrelevant compared to how much difference that makes. Right now, it's 50% interactive matches (win or lose) and 50% ones where I may as well have not shown up.

  • @BrightWolf said:

It certainly feels like people are trying way to hard sometimes, like trying to be overly competitive in a game that doesn't really support such behaviour. If that makes sense.

Like, when I just want to chill I get paired with sweats. When I'm actually trying, I get paired against baby survs or killers who don't know the map very well. 🤔

Same here. Let's have some fun, try a new killer or a funny build.

    =

No-interaction Commando Elite death squad who have Windows of Opportunity as a fifth perk.

NGL, I was pretty much on the verge of tears during the match, I was just that frustrated. I know, I know tough skin and all that, but being autistic makes dealing with slight annoyances ten times more difficult than it needs to be sometimes. But yeah, getting up and walking away was probably the best thing to do at the time for both of us. Unfortunately, I was unlucky in the EGC, because all of them had the "escaped" icon next to them. It's a shame they didn't try to come and find me to t-bag my face and screw themselves over, but oh well. Adapt and move on I suppose.

I'm a budding Trickster main, in case my pfp didn't give it away XD, I can't help it, I'm a sucker for the insane artist trope. Ahem, anyway, I'm also stockpiling points into Legion atm, because I was watching Ortz play him (them?) a few nights ago and Legion seemed like a pretty fun killer to play. And it just seems like a good strategy to have some points dumped into another killer, in case you want to try someone different. Also just having teachable on hand just seems like a good strategy even if they're just low tiers. Looks like I'll keep adding points into Legion, I'm really close to prestiging Trickster to get his tier one perks for my other killers. So that'll be fun, then I'll start dumping perks into Billy and maybe Bubba when the DLC goes on sale again.

I know that feeling, and it's the reason I don't play killer more. If I have a bad game as survivor, then at least I'm out of it early and can get a new match. Have a bad game as killer, you have to stay there till the end even when it's clear the MMR has decreed you don't get to have any fun. And the end will be dragged out as long as possible, because of course, you have to chase them out the exit gates and they have to get that last teabag in.

So getting left on hook and timing out makes me a bad player? I'd looped that wesker for at least 45 secs to a minute maybe more, and he only caught me by the skin of his teeth on a really good virulent bound a fraction of a sec before i could drop pallet. I know it helped other players finish gens. But then he hooks me, and no one bothers to help. First hook times out till i die, didn't try to kobe and hit all my skill checks.

Some games I'll do bad, not knowing the maps. But others I'll perform well on, distract the killer plenty, get gens done. If you read my original post I'm not an amazing hyper looper but i understand how the game works and I'm definitely competent. But i can't carry a whole team that refuses to help me.

There has been more than one team I've had lately who seem to think that "Dead By Daylight" describes their objective.

Just because people DECIDE to opt out of voice doesn't mean VC wouldn't improve the match quality for the people who do decide to use it.

If you can't use voice because you don't have a headset or microphone, well its 2022. That isn't a valid excuse to not bring VC to DbD. You can go buy one for very cheap, but again this is a YOU problem.

While you bring up a fair point of other perks giving very useful info to teammates, the idea & recommendation of having to bring those perks is null and dull. When in comparison to SWF, they get all that info just through comms, essentially letting them bring more 'meta' or powerful perks. While yes, we have those perks to help with info, by no means is that a rational solution to this topic because like I said, forcing solo players to bring certain perks for that info, means they lose out on some more useful or powerful perks they'd likely bring instead.

The reason I have no interest in using comms is because I have no interest in a torrent of verbal slurry being poured in my ear by enraged fourteen year olds who apparently all have carnal knowledge of my mother.

Y'know, like literally every other game that has voice comms.

  • The really baffling ones are the ones who DC just before they die. Congratulations, you cheated yuourself out of BP to leave the match 3 secs early.

Language barrier, lack of microphone, social anxiety, any facet to your voice that would invite harassment, noise pollution in your area, lack of interest, hell, even not being able to speak at all.

It's not a statistically insignificant number of people who would gain no benefit from voice comms, and if your solution only works for some people some of the time, when the stars align and everyone in the lobby has a microphone that they're willing to use and are literally able to communicate with the other three players, it is not a good solution. In fact, it's not a solution at all, since the problem clearly still exists in all but the perfect scenarios I just described- even one player in a lobby who can't benefit from voice comms means the exchange of information is not functioning.

Passive information will always be the better direction to look, because it doesn't require anything from you or your teammates except the ability to read a UI.

And let's be honest, "any facet to your voice that would invite harrassment" includes "sounding female".

I remember the chat in League of Legends, and everything I've heard about games with voice comms has me quite certain I shall never use them when playing solo.

Status icons AND voice chat. Talking proximity chat here like F13th. I'm focusing more on fun here because it would be goofy just hearing a squeaker getting chased. Proximity chat would make the game infinitely more fun. All the potential things to come from it regardless of good or bad make for a nice idea. Besides, the good outweighs the bad.

You've never played a multiplayer game with voice chat among randoms, have you?

Judge Death, from Judge Dredd. The appearances where he and the other Dark Judges are played for straight horror (Necropolis, Fall of Deadworld) are utterly chilling, and the possibilities for a Deadworld / Necropolis Mega-City One map are amazing.

Beyond that, I always cast a vote for Candyman. There's just so much ability and perk design space in the character (bees, injustice, the self-perpetuating urban legend, the mantle held by multiple men over history) and more potential for a really cool map design with the apartment block / shrine / massive bonfire sets of the movie.
