  • unless your plan was to leave the bt activation zone and then go right back to the hook, why should this matter? you could simply continue going whichever way I assume bbq gave you information about and pressure gens without having to worry about bt at all, the unhooker + the unhooked person in most cases aren't doing the objective. they'll probably stand around healing for a bit while their other allies focus gens.

alternatively if it's a pattern you could also just look around the hooked survivor for signs of their would-be instant savior before leaving the area.

either way you have a better chance of not having to deal, y'know?

  • oo I love that idea, especially if it applied to offerings too. I swear those +50% bp offerings will haunt me to my dying day.

  • is it a strat? sure. is it a good strat? no

just don't feed him, let him have his one kill and do the rest of the gens while he revs his chainsaw mindlessly rather than participating, it's not fun but it happens. sometimes killers have one bad round and then determine to suck all the joy out of whoever happens upon them next, they're just venting their rage about being ineffective, talentless, and boring. pity them and move on is my advice. hope it gets less frequent for you though!

  • i totally agree. if not that, at least being able to buy animation packs to customize whichever character you main would be really cool to me.

  • more: yui & adam, I saw a rare adam today actually! I spared him.

less: I'd say ash because he's obnoxious but I never see him anyway so i don't really mind. i love claudie, she's getting too much hate here. โ˜ ๏ธ

I'm not surprised at all by this but it's nice to have data confirm it concretely. i'm still sad my sweet girls plag and hag are so infrequently played, hopefully they get some love from the devs to put them over the edge. thanks for recording all that, it was an interesting read! ๐Ÿ’™

points were made. i hereby welcome our geometrically inclined overlord

  • spine chill's my favorite perk hands down, even as a semi competent-ish survivor there are soooo many situations where it's saved my life. finishing that last bit of a gen or opening an exit gate just in time or helping me avoid weird dedicated hits through windows. just overall an amazing perk for anyone. I definitely agree about kindred too, it's probably the best information perk in the game now. good advice! ๐Ÿ’

  • +1 from me, I'd especially love if survivors got masks inspired by the killers they were released with, like nea would get a nurse mask, kate would get a clown, steve and nancy would get a demo mask, yui would get an oni, etc etc ๐Ÿ–ค

It didn't in the games it was tried. In fact, it resulted in longer queues for the best players, who were then only matched with newbies who blocked them immediately.

if the 'best players' aren't trying to put on a fun game for the other humans playing that says a lot. maybe it's not worth being the best if nobody wants to play with you? ๐Ÿ‘€

  • I'd love that tbh, it might encourage people to play more nicely.

I've seen this multiple times on the forums and its a bad solution. Punish the player on the hook (by disabling their perk that works on max 2 occasions during the game) for another player who goes down. Imagine being on the hook, oni/billy go away with their respective power, down someone and hook him right after you got unhooked. He gets back to the hook and tunnels you down. Even if you hooked someone else, you can still go back and tunnel the first person down. Just bc someone got hooked (bc the player got caught off guard or played bad) doesnt mean that you cant tunnel another person down.

    My suggestion:

    • timer goes 2x if the survivor works on gens, searches chests, cleanses totems, heals other players, opening gates, goes into a locker and/or during active EGC
    • timer deactivates if you get healed or the deep wound state is activated

This would stop the chain of 2nd chance perks like being on the hook, getting unhooked + healed from adrenaline, gets hit twice bc of BT / styptic agent and still having DS. Also synergizes with second wind (get unhooked, work on gens for 30s, get healed for free while ds is active during that time) and counters perks like we will make it (soft counter, bc wwmi is 90s at t3) and adrenaline/bt.

The issue arent 2nd chance perks like ds but chaining them all together to take multiple hits and still being invulnerable to get picked up due to ds.

'Even if you hooked someone else, you can still go back and tunnel the first person down.'

I basically just disagree with you on that. if you as the survivor have time to prepare for the killer, what's the problem? I'm most frustrated when I don't have a chance whatsoever, but if someone else is being hooked it's totally within my power to succeed in a chase or find a good hiding spot. and that only describes the worst case scenario in which my allies for whatever reason want me to die. usually the person who unhooks me has the good sense to intercept a killer when they've noticed his pattern, I do the same when the roles are reversed.

  • definitely underrated. it's especially disorienting because so few people run it, nobody expects third seal.

  • the simplest solution to me is this:

ds deactivates whenever someone else gets hooked.

  • i think the main problem with a silent hill chapter is like.. pyramid head is already shirtless.

what would the public outcry be? pantless pyramid head? ๐Ÿ‘€ food for thot

  • candyman isn't popular enough but the nun is? I question that

there was actually some speculation about the nun showing up before oni's chapter because of some leaked tomb-like music that I think ended up on his sanctum of wrath map, so it's definitely been discussed as a possibility. I wouldn't really care either way if the nun was released. if they designed her well she could be spooky but I didn't like the conjuring films much so idk.

  • lately I just get excited whenever I see a flashlight squad, just act like you're gonna pick someone up then listen for the sound of a greedy survivor running in, 2 downs for the price of 1.

Think you are underestimating how powerful fixated is especially in a chase. It can really let you pull off impossible escapes pretty frequently in situations the killer knows should be impossible to locations doubly impossible aside from hopping in a locker. Them usually checking a locker and waisting more time just makes it better. Definitely a perk that takes practice though to learn the limits of. Where on what tiles to use it and the when/where but ooooh when you do it's gold. The scratch mark part is definitely a little pointless but that walk speed is godly.

i loved the concept of the perk when it was first announced but whenever I used it, I just found it completely underwhelming. that prolly has to do more with my playstyle than anything, since I'm often intercepting hits for others or using the initial smack as a launch to a stronger loop, which defeats the whole perk. if I'm gonna play sneaky I think iron will + urban serves me better.

i don't think it'd be OP if they simply took out the healthy requirement, it'd be a much, much more useful perk then.

Sigourney Weaver would be an amazing Survivor. I would probably give up my Claudette to play her.

ripley's just so cool i love her so much, if next chapter is xeno + ripley I'll genuinely be amped and I haven't been amped for a chapter since stranger things. I loved your idea too! I wouldn't complain for more eye candy ๐Ÿ‘€

winona ryder from beetle juice would have some great cosmetics. I'm all about that weird witchie/ gothic teen vibe

absolutely, we're really lacking a proper goth girl survivor. nea comes close sometimes, but lydia deetz would knock her right out.

    • sigourney weaver from alien.
    • actual jamie lee curtis laurie from the new halloween films.
    • winona ryder from bram stoker's dracula.
    • winona ryder from beetlejuice.
    • winona ryder.

  • fixated, breakout, and deliverance should be moved down imo.

    • fixated's walk speed boost only works while healthy, and seeing scratch marks only really pays off with other scratch mark perks.
    • breakout requires comms / too much dedication to pull off when you could be doing the objective instead.
    • deliverance is incredibly niche, most of the time you're just denying an ally unhook points. the only clutch deliverance happens when you haven't been hooked until egc, you've saved someone previously, someone else remains in the trial and isn't currently on hook (since now if everyone's hooked, everyone instantly dies), and the killer is far enough away from the gate / hatch to make a quick escape. I think this is my biggest complaint with the list, it's just not a good perk. I'd put it in OK at best, but NAH is my pref.

also! why is ace in the hole a tier above plunderer's? running just ace in the hole doesn't do it for me, whereas I can run plunderer's by itself for chest challenges / item hoarding and escape happy.

    good list otherwise! โค๏ธ

  • the easiest way to prove their point would be publishing the numbers they refer to, I loved whenever they released those stats awhile back on least played killer / kill-count based strongest killer / map with highest deathrate, etc etc. I don't see why they would say something that would clearly make people question their findings without.. y'know, showing those findings rather than vaguely telling us about them.

I had the same feeling when they mentioned dying on first hook numbers not increasing amid the dc penalty introduction because without any stats that just sounds insane, either I've had some really terrible luck with allies or people definitely die on first hook more now.

  • to echo what others have said, wait and see if the rewards are gonna be worth the trouble. I only prestige characters I play a lot, so I'm really curious and excited to see what kinda new junk we can expect from doing so, even if it's just something small.

  • I like to pop an asylum or hawkins offering to be safe, hills never worked for me either.

  • ruin + surveillance on any stealth killer is really wonderful. dedicated servers have reduced my success with sneaky gen scoops but the ones I've gotten have usually been set up by that combo.

  • even more huntresses pls, I love the feeling of a well-timed dodge even with the sometimes unreasonable hatchet hitboxes. then there's my sweet, tragically underplayed hag, and of course good boi demo. boopable piggies are a rarity for me too, I'd love to see more of those. ๐Ÿ’•

much much fewer freddies. maybe no freddies, ever, for all time. last night I went against a freddy with thana, dying light, pop, swing chains, and paintbrush and the trial dragged on for way too long to have any fun whatsoever. + his lunge never looks right, I can bait a hit with most killers and get away healthy, but somehow his lil scissors almost always land. I'd rather face 10 spirits in a row than 1 freddy.

  • they should've always been the solution to god windows and infinity loops, but on the saloon? they're just everywhere and most of the time I don't even understand what they're supposed to do. in most of the loops they might as well stay up, if I break like one wall whenever I'm there that's a lot.

back when the idea was floated by the devs I was envisioning something much scarier, a killer bursting through a wall unexpectedly. but they really are just the much less effective killer equivalent of pallets.

Good sportsmanship doesn't include trying to shame people into playing worse just so you don't lose.

if you play in an unkind way and the other side responds unkindly, can you blame them? I don't think any of the 'rules' are mandatory, but if you're bothered when people have a reaction following them does help. i'm sure there are plenty of people on both sides who enjoy when the opposing team is mad by the end, but that's not me. I want everyone to have fun if I can help it.

  • that's just what good sportsmanship is, lots and lots of little rules that some people innately understand and others need spelled out for them.

  • i've been practicing plague lately and people cleanse alllllllllllllllllll the time, it's insane. but I don't really see much survivor on survivor shaming anymore, maybe your ally just came back from a long break and thought 'never cleanse' was still the strat?

also i can't tell if 'sick of this community' was a plague pun or not but if so, ggs wp.

  • if you hadn't been dcing a lot before those two accidental disconnections the penalty would've been 5 minutes and it wouldn't be a big deal.

i'd recommend taking dbd a little less seriously, it's much more casual than people seem to pretend. you're gonna lose some games or have garbage allies who ruin your fun. it's just how this community can be sometimes, unfortunately. die on hook and take a break so you're not just imposing your own dc spree and suffering the consequences.

  • once you're a semi competent survivor you realize you have all the tools you need to face the killer 1v1 for awhile, I think that's why it fades so quickly. jumpscare myers and rusty shackles hag and even basekit ghostface can still spook me every now and then, but the objectives just aren't tense enough, and killers aren't imposing enough, to truly maintain that suspense.

I hope they'll consider new features to bring it back somehow, I miss that feeling.

  • bring detective's hunch and do bones in between gens, that's my plan whenever i'm having a bad luck streak.

  • i'd really love kayako saeki from the grudge or sadako from the ring, dbd has so many licenses for western horror and none for eastern, which is just a bit depressing when you think about the sheer quantity of amazing asian horror that so far has been only vaguely referenced by spirit.

adding to that, our last woman killer was the plague about a century ago and we only have one licensed woman killer total, piggy. people are mostly guessing it'll be yet another dood on the roster. but I've been waiting so long for another lady, pls devs pls. ๐Ÿ’”

  • especially during a new rift I take that for the generous gift it is, usually a free challenge completion and all the totems and gens and escape points you'd like. what you gain vs what an afk killer gains heavily weighs in your favor, you can even get a free item out of it to use in upcoming trials. why would anyone wanna report that?

    just seems rude to me.

  • I love charms, a lil outfit-matching charm on the hip makes me like 10% happier. when they were first announced I was completely amped and, while I'd love to see more unique charms over silly recolors, I can always find a charm or two to suit my booty or my hook.

they're just small collectible trinkets with no practical uses so i understand why some people don't care about them, but idk. I love 'em.

Does the killer ever breathe though?

My SWF nobody uses obsession perks and we have a lot of games where there are no obsession(I have seen this a lot in solo recently too). Does the killer breathe? Of course not, he tunnels the ######### out of everyone because he knows there is no DS.

there are gonna be throwaway rounds where nobody has fun, that's just to be expected in an asymmetrical game with so many variables and playstyles. but i do think it makes a difference when you specifically choose to enjoy yourself rather than reacting to what a killer may or may not do during the round and that can 100% influence the people you play with and against to rethink their own builds.

sweaty survivors countering sweaty killers just adds to the idea that killers have to sweat or they won't stand a chance, and vice versa. I'm definitely not saying all the scummy people will stop being scummy, but if even just ~some~ people relax and stop playing dbd like it's an e-sport the game will be in a much, much better place for everyone.

  • you're definitely not the only one, but i know it can feel that way sometimes. I just try to focus on what I can control and hope maybe I'll set an example y'know? I encourage all my friends to play perk roulette with me whenever we swf so the killer can breathe.

  • perk roulette. I can't live without spine chill, but lately my other 3 slots are all completely random and it's been really refreshing not to care.

I wish killers had that luxury.

i feel like it happens often and especially late at night. Day games have somewhat random feel to the maps. But late at night into the mornings feel like I get the same maps from 2-3 realms and it burns you out real quick.

ohhh okay this could be the reason my 'luck' is so bad?? because I normally play in the dead of night and I get this happening all the time. I wonder why that would make a difference though, so strange.

  • @luka2211 said:

I have not had a same map happen in a row for weeks now personally. Just bad luck I think.

I'd love to know the internal mechanics behind map rng, like if it genuinely is just bad luck.. I'd totally buy that cuz I'm unlucky as ######### but y'know.

    @MadLordJack said:

For all we know, that's how map rotation works and you just happened to be in a bunch of lobbies that had that specific map as the next in line, collectively speaking.

That being said, there's thirty-odd maps. You can easily block the last map each person played just played in from the next lobby. It's only 5 maps. Sure, people would then get lineups like we had back when New Lery's got released, but still. It would be something.

oh you're absolutely right about that! that'd be way preferrable to leaving it up to pure chance like I sort of have to assume it is right now. even if I end up getting more maps I don't necessarily love playing on, I'd rather know there's a strong possibility I'll just have to suffer for one round and then next round I'll end up somewhere else.

  • it's literally the free track they're giving you that stuff just for playing, i really don't get this. i have a very minimal income and i can easily recycle $10 from one rift to the next to the next, if you wanna be frugal you're paying $10 essentially for endless rifts full of outfits and charms that would cost much more sold separately in the store.

or you're not paying anything and you're still getting free stuff, again, just for playing. I think it'd be generous if the devs put s'more filler in the free track, maybe throw in a few more recolors and all the people who don't wanna pay to support dbd can just have those, but to suggest it's corporate greed that they're not giving you enough free stuff is a bit much for me.

  • yup! I played against a bamboozle wraith today and failed two vaults because I couldn't see the entity blocker. when I was downed on the floor of the killer shack I heard it retract, but it remained completely invisible for the duration.

edit: it's been reported in the bug reporting section and is listed as 'acknowledged', so the devs know. hopefully a fix comes soon.

  • having to use perks to deal with scummy behavior isn't fun, i agree with the above comments. i love playing around with unique builds so i'm often punished by killers for not simply countering their tunnel / camp / slug with ds / bt / unbreakable, which sucks but I'll take it over draining all the joy out of the game by limiting myself to 1 perk slot.

  • i think it'd be cool if it counted as a protection hit since that's pretty much what it is, taking damage to help an ally.

  • oh I loved it, especially the sense that a license based on a popular show meant more and a wider variety of people coming into dbd, not just classic horror fans like those brought in by myers or freddy or ghostface. I ranked nancy to p3 level 50 the fastest I've ever gotten there with anyone, and that short period when a lot of killer mains were genuinely into demogorgon was just amazing on survivor side. not too sweaty, not too easy, just the right amount of challenge. I'm still waiting to feel amped for a new dlc the way I was with stranger things.

  • I play by the prolly outdated standard of everyone dies except the last person standing, who either competes in a hatch race orrrrrr, if I'm feeling sympathetic, is lovingly delivered to the hatch as long as they don't wiggle, but there are occasions when i'll let more than one escape. I definitely don't think it's weird to spare as many survivors as you prefer to. if sparing 2/4 feels fair to you, I wouldn't try to convince you it's not.

there are many killers who rarely spare anyone at all, which I find a bit.. boring. but given they're not playing scummy I can't be mad about it.

  • yesterday i had a really good chase against a huntress and before i said anything in endchat she said 'gg nea!' @ me, I felt so validated and just replied 'oh thank you! love you have a wonderful next game.' all it takes to get me in a good mood tbh ๐Ÿ’—

i always try to keep a wholesome mindset if the killer's been respectful and hope that they reciprocate, which is a lot to ask sometimes. but it helps to remind myself a good game for me might've been a failure to them, and they might just be feeling bad about themselves and need to lash out. there are definitely games where I can tell the killer just didn't have a chance, so instead of saying gg i'll try to sympathize with what went wrong. whether it was busted matchmaking or a ######### map any killer would've struggled with or a totem spawn in broad view, anything to let them know i know it wasn't their fault and it's not a reflection of their skill that they lost.

slurs however just earn a quick report from me, then I leave without a word. that doesn't deserve to be treated like a criticism, it doesn't deserve to be validated with a response at all imo.

  • browse the cosmetic contest submissions some of them are genuinely stunning and two of them will be coming to the game ๐Ÿ–ค

but i agree i think the fact that the community designs are next level and official bhvr designs are just okay is kinda sad, bhvr needs to step it up.
