I'm still hoping if someone is revealed to be a lesbian it's Feng Min ( mainly because I ship her with Kate)

It would also be a less of a stereotype to make Feng lesbian. (Nea people often say has a stereotypical look of a lesbian and Yui having a female biker gang and standing up for women's rights means lesbian seems a little bit stupid)

However I could see them going with the stereotypical routes

inclusivity should be ongoing and plentiful so that whether it's 'stereotypical' or not ceases to matter at all, judging who should or shouldn't be gay by how they measure up to that perception just isn't realistic imo. feng and kate and yui and nea could all be gay, it's not a competition, just different outward expressions, y'know? also, cute ship! 👍

This is unrelated, but I love how Yui looks at the giant raging demon bursting through a wall like he's an annoyance. That facial expression oozes a lot more "Ugh, what now?" than it does "WHAT THE [BAD WORD]!?"

LOL same, it's almost a meme how consistently unafraid of oni she is. i still remember her staring him down during their release trailer and knowing instantly i'd need to P3 her as soon as i could.

David is straight as revealed by his lore. Yes he could be bisexual, but we have no evidence of that and likely won't for a good long while. So at this point we just know he's at least straight.

having dated a woman doesn't say as much as you think, plenty of gay men don't come out until later in life especially ones who present hypermasculine like david does. it's a societal reaction more than an expressed internal truth to a lot of people.

  • i get that read on her as well! i'm watching yui, nea, zarina, and of course dweet and david pretty closely waiting to see who'll be confirmed first. if the devs wanna premiere an already popular ship, kingfield's right there for the taking. but personally ever since i saw this banner of nea and yui together they've been my favorite conceptual pairing. 💞

We make our own minds with characters, if we so please and choose too, this is a horror survival game, we don't need anything in this matter represented as if we did BHVR would have to take a moment to take a look on others.I am not disregarding anyone in this matter, we dont' need it, it's just a horror game, if you wish to believe character is of a certain sexuality then fair eneough but no, sorry and beg pardon I personally don't think it is needed here.

you didn't read the tweet did you? they said originally they hadn't represented ~any~ sexualities, then did so for heterosexuals only. they've committed to being inclusive and righting that wrong, which is admirable. i don't mind if you don't want it. this post wasn't for you.

Atleast they should have different voice actors and the name should change. The Cybil Bennett skin just looks horrible and doesn’t resemble the character at all and the Oni didn’t even get different animations or weapons. If they would fix all those things then it would be worth it.

absolutely, i don't even know who wanted cybil? i saw a lot of people asking for maria and she would've been welcome.

instead we get an ugly overpriced cop. 💔

    Yeah it's a scam.

it sets a really bad precedent imo, like they're charging so much more for less and i'm worried if legendary skins are successful other features will be affected in the future. like i'm happy to support the devs, i buy the rift pass for every rift season 'cause it's honestly a good deal for the amount of content, legendary skins just absolutely aren't.

  • this is why i try to stand up for LGBTQ+ rep within DBD, BHVR have said numerous times they support us but don't have the balls to actually see that through, which is sad because i've had some genuinely memey wholesome interactions with people and made some good friends here and i don't want to have to close chat or advocate for its removal or just assume everyone's gonna be an ######### before i even know them. why should i have to compromise, not the bigots, racists, ignorant, hateful people who say whatever they want and get away with it?

obviously rep doesn't solve these problems completely, we have claud, adam, tapp, hag, doc, and there's still racism, for example. we have multitudes of women characters and there's still sexism. but if you take a stand, if you don't PERMIT it, if you pick goodness over the bottom line, that comes back to you tenfold. i wish they'd see that, because when they do nothing, what they're really doing is encouraging the misbehavior to fester and grow and that's why this community literally scares people off from sticking around. the thing about all those 'sensitive' people who can't handle criticism everyone likes to bring up? they're not here anymore, they decided they didn't wanna have to endure the vitriol and they quit. that'll continue until they decide to take reports seriously, and punish seriously.

if i didn't love DBD so much, i would've left a long time ago too.

  • i'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that posting leaks in the official DBD forums isn't allowed

  • not really. i try to start every survivor match with a sense that the killer is a human trying to enjoy a game too, so i don't play like a dick unless they do first. i don't run exhaustion perks, my only real 'second chance' is ds for tunnel insurance, and i cherish any opportunity to meme. but if you facecamp or tunnel someone off hook? expect a butt dance at every pallet and lots of cackling at the exit gate.

  • given the randomness of queue times i've always wanted more to do in the lobby, like if it were an actual interactable environment where we could chill and walk around the campfire as our survivor while waiting to enter one of the realms.

  • hag hates you 👿

kidding aside she's statistically one of the least played killers so while you may be seeing her slightly more during her rift cycle i can't imagine it's enough to ruin your day. be happy she'll resume being the underplayed, underappreciated killer she is after level 4 closes. personally i love my girl lisa, but i understand why she can be unfun to go against in the wrong hands.

  • slugging for the 4k happens all the time whereas dcing for the hatch just doesn't, in part because the prior's rewarded and the latter's punished. the dcer not only has to wait out the penalty, but they forfeit their pip and all the bloodpoints they got during the round just so their final ally can escape.

that's punishment enough imo. unbreakable and adrenaline are much, much more of a nuisance to me when I'm trying to 4k than that rarity.

  • i don't understand how inclusivity is so controversial in the forums when BHVR has literally tweeted their support of BLM and released LGBTQ+ discord and twitch emotes for pride month. whether or not it feels 'too political' the devs have made their stances clear and I think including in-game content like pride charms or a BLM pin or whole new characters whose identity is integral to their backstory and motivations is the next logical step. humans have cultural identities that shape how they navigate the world, that's just a fact. it's not an opinion, it's not a debate, queer people like me exist and it'd be cool as hell for DBD to follow many other game developers who actively include us by doing the same.

regardless, BHVR supports us. if you don't like that, feel free to find another game. I won't mourn your absence.

  • devs for the love of satan pls develop a brown flashlight that only clicks.

  • oo you said unpopular opinions? my killer wishlist to compensate for dbd's male majority:

    • medusa
    • la llorona
    • kuchisake-onna
    • sadako from the ring
    • kayako from the grudge
    • the vampire that predates dracula, carmilla
  • I've noticed with less popular killers people tend to play them in a sorta scummy way because they feel like they don't have a choice, for example I find that a lot of hags I face will trap a single hook multiple times thinking that's the best way to use her power.. when they're actually just wasting time. a reckless survivor only needs 1 trap to trigger, a competent survivor will crouch over all of them because hook traps are very very predictable.

similarly a lot of casual pig players will take the 'easy' route and patrol jigsaw boxes instead of gens to secure a hook from a probably still wounded survivor, which is neither the nicest nor most efficient way to play her ime. like others have said I think that's where the bias comes from, but even when I see piggy playing like that? I don't internalize it to mean pig as a killer is innately a tunneler, just like hag isn't innately a camper, so I don't judge the next one I see. ig people are just babies sometimes.

I'd love to see more piggies.

  • just point at a hook, most farming killers will obey and you can #########. into the next round ezpz. I love a good farming round as a palate cleanser between sweatlords but you definitely don't need to participate if you don't want to. most of us take it for the gift that it is.

It's because it IS very specific. Imagine you're the last survivor alive, and the killer traps you in some corner of a walled area or whatever, and you cannot physically move past them. They proceed to stand there for two hours and not let you leave. They are now holding you hostage, preventing you from playing the game in a normal way.

Survivors can do this to you as well, which I assume would be considered "working with the killer" or something, if the killer isn't stopping them.

And even if other survivors had free passage to go finish gens and leave, and you were just being blockaded in this way by the killer for the whole match, you would probably have a legitimate cause to report for griefing, because you are being prevented from playing the game in a normal way. I've never seen this happen, and the EGC is designed to end weird endgame standoffs like this once doors are open, but you would have had your game held hostage for sure.

oh okay, that's a better example. I still haven't seen that happen but hopefully I never will. thanks for explaining it to me. 🖤

Here is a confirmation from @Peanits on what "holding the game hostage" suggests -- one of many I'm sure you can find on here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/62203/holding-the-game-hostage

It isn't "stuff I don't like that makes the match take longer." It's stuff that actively prevents the game state from ending in an intended way.

so your scenario wouldn't be considered holding the game hostage either then, since assuming a killer trapped one survivor in the basement the others could finish the rest of the gens, open a gate, and eventually the EGC would claim the victim? unless you're specifically saying it's only holding the game hostage if the killer somehow traps all the remaining survivors, preventing them from completing the objective and triggering EGC, in which case.. I've never seen that happen, that feels very very specific.

  • @Rydog said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1326066#Comment_1326066

Sorry but no, this is absolute misinformation.

Holding the game hostage, insofar as what is considered a reportable offense, implies that one or more players are acting in a way that prevents the game from being completed in any way other than a disconnect. An example would be a killer or fellow survivor blocking you into a corner adn then refusing to move, so that you cannot play the game and can only exit by disconnecting.

Survivors who are bleeding out will die after four minutes, and the game will end. This is specifically why this mechanic exists, to prevent players from taking the game hostage in this manner.

    GRIEFING: INTENTIONAL GAMEPLAY ABUSE

Working with the opposite team to gain an advantage or grief teammates

Targeting specific users repeatedly in order to ruin their game experience

    Holding the game hostage

I don't see where it says only your instance applies, source? what would you call it instead if someone's won the game, has all the means to end it, and chooses not to in order to BM? that's at very least a qualification for griefing, but I'd argue intentionally dragging it on when it should be over is taking the game hostage too.

    in any case it's reportable.

  • nah, slugging multiple survivors with the intention of hooking them isn't really it. holding the game hostage is more like slugging everyone then standing over their bodies and letting them bleed out with really no hope of leaving the game unless someone's got unbreakable.

  • I have a friend who uses a smurf account and some of his friends do too. I don't play with him when he swaps over since it does genuinely feel scummy and just compounds the unfairness of matchmaking, and I can't say for sure how common it is, but unfortunately it's still a thing people do.

he'd say it's just because red ranks get stale and exhausting given how hard people sweat, but obviously that ends with him bullying new players essentially for his own satisfaction. like a lot of toxic behavior, it's selfish.

  • As we stand they are the only 2 killers who have weaknesses to a rather annoying item..flashlights

nurse is actually another killer that can be heavily affected by flashlights and she definitely doesn't need a buff. I do agree that hag and wraith could use a bit more love though. they both deserve a secondary power akin to newer + reworked killers to keep them competitive, since hag especially is one of the least played killers in dbd and that wounds my swampy hag main heart beyond measure.

  • if someone's doing something genuinely bannable you're much better off recording the match or getting a screenshot of the chat and sending it in a support ticket following the standard in-game report function. apparently that has a higher likelihood of getting the result you're after.

I haven't had to do that yet so I can't comment from experience, but I've definitely been tempted a few times.

Here's the problem with that idea: I don't mind being camped and/or tunneled as a survivor, as long as my teammates are competent and know to work on those gens. If they're not, I don't blame the killer for taking advantage of their incompetence, I blame the survivors for not grasping that if the killer is somewhere, you ought to be somewhere else (preferably working on gens).

"Treating people how you'd like to be treated" only works if everyone would like to be treated in the same way, which is not the case.

you may not mind being camped and tunneled, but can I ask if that's how you'd like the round to go? because I can speak for myself and I think a lot of other people in saying I'd definitely rather play the round than sit on a hook / lay on the ground / die in 2 minutes 'cause I didn't bring the meta. I don't really mind a bad one-off round either, I'm happy to be the martyr so my allies can finish the rest of the gens and escape; at least in death I was useful to them. but it's not how I'd like the round to go by any means.

I'd like a challenge that tests my skill, not to feel totally helpless. that goes for when I play killer too.

I don't think it's a stretch to say most people want something similar, do you?

  • @hahadrillgobrrr said:

To be fair there is also double standard from the survivor side. Survivors should always have fun but only way to have fun is their way and what killers see as fun is meaningless.

People should be allowed to play whoever they want on both sides but cosmetics giving advantage should be looked at. Looking at this thread both sides suffer from this so why it still is a thing in game, I don't understand.

there's the perception on both sides that there are too many 'rules' to follow to make the other team happy, but it all comes down to just treating people how you'd like to be treated. imo that's why it's so important to play killer and survivor so you know how it feels to be teabagged at exit gates or second-chanced to hell or tunneled off hook or facecamped or any of the very unfun things either side can do to the other that really aren't warranted. but if people are discussing how unfair just playing as claudette is? I can't get behind that.

as for cosmetics, I personally love wearing obnoxiously bright outfits with jumpy colors and zebra pants (can you tell I play nea?), but I know by doing so I'm forfeiting stealth. since I'm competent enough at looping I can get away with it, but if I felt like I couldn't run a killer around I'd definitely opt for a more stealthy playstyle and throw on some darker clothes. neither option is better than the other, it's a choice every survivor gets to make. similar to how killers can don a hallowed blight costume if they wanna glow like a beacon or throw on something much less conspicuous to retain the element of surprise; it's a deliberate choice that affects how you play the game based on what works for you, and it should remain a choice.

It was just a response to your "killer mains do x", not saying you bring it up every time or that you were a survivor main.

I would've been happy to acknowledge your curiosity if you'd replied with anything more than a brush-off. I brought it up because it's a double standard I see a lot in this forum, that killers should be able and encouraged to use whatever tactics, perks, addons that're optimal given whatever situation they find themselves in. and I don't actually disagree with that, sometimes you do have to sweat it out in order to salvage a really tough trial. survivors, though? apparently all it takes is selecting claudette to have crossed a line. tunnel them, mori them, all for playing the game the way they'd like to -- a common defense for camping and tunneling.

I'd like to see a more thoughtful discussion than let's all do whatever we want to our mutually most hated character claudette, given her innate and objectively unfair advantages that make the game more challenging and therefore deserve punishment. it's boring and in my experience untrue.

  • @hahadrillgobrrr said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1324973#Comment_1324973

And survivor mains are so quick always bringing up killers defending camping and tunneling in every thread.

that's one way to completely write someone off huh? I actually play both sides pretty frequently nowadays, and you can go through my comments to see how often I bring up camping and tunneling if you'd like. spoilers tho: it's rare.

  • killers are so quick to defend camping or tunneling as valid tactics yet a survivor playing stealthy?? that's just too far. even given the advantage of knowing exactly who they're facing before the round, they can't imagine slotting something like stridor to increase their noise detection or i'm all ears for wallhacks or whispers or any of the other anti-stealth addons or perks in their arsenal. they just mori the claudette. problem solved.

it's a boring bias. i personally love sneaky survivors, if ol blendy's going invisible in the scenery or urban evading around she's definitely not doing gens or being at all helpful toward her allies. a classic blendette is basically an extra perk slot for killers.

  • I still think they might release candyman closer to the delayed film premiere, if we're truly getting two licenses in a row.

personally I hope the next chapter will be original tho.

  • tier 63 without buying any.

I'm actually a little sad I might have it fully completed before I dig into level 4 but I dooo really want the glowy tier 70 charm so at least there's that.

  • i honestly don't care about the loops but it's one of my least favorite maps aesthetically so I'd definitely be into a rework.

  • red forest and ormond are my top two maps for both roles. I really wish more maps incorporated weather like they do.

  • I'd say hag and piggy cuz they're pretty low to the ground which can be visually disruptive but m&a just does a better job for both of them. I wish they'd give shadowborn a small additional effect to make it worth a perk slot.

  • on survivor side it's just whoever has a hideous fun new cosmetic, like nea's obnoxious toothpastey rift hair inspired me to make a just-as-obnoxious outfit for her that repulses me to my core but I can't possibly not wear. before that I made a trixie mattel cosplay with kate's nasty pigtails and her gingham button-down top.

but my killers are consistent. I always, always alternate between hag and plag. my gurgly gorls. 🖤

  • i'm pretty sure legendary skins will be a survivor-exclusive novelty, since it's pretty easy just to throw a new skin on a survivor and say it's a whole different character. whereas with killers it'd be weird if two different characters (especially from two different licenses?) had the exact same power.

  • the lighting alone will exaggerate the spoop, I'm really really looking forward to it. 🖤

  • favorite: .......... for no reason whatsoever,

    image.png

least favorite: this casualty of hair optimization used to go with my favorite nea outfit, but after the devs' betrayal, it is only a painful reminder.

    image.png
  • you only have to pay $10 once, if you complete the rift you get all 1000 auric cells back so you can just recycle it on the next rift pass, and the next, and the next, forever. compared to just buying the outfits in the shop it's actually a really good deal for the amount of content.

but if you don't want the rift pass? you're still getting free cosmetics and charms. it's more than you were given before the rift was introduced.

how greedy of the devs not to give you more free stuff tho. how dare they!

  • i believe jane romero's actually hispanic, but they could definitely do more. I'd love to see la llorona or a chupacabra come to dbd.

  • idek, I had to throw like five games in a row before I managed to complete it and I only did so because I got mismatched against a baby nurse who had no idea what she was doing and didn't look behind her. makes me wonder if the devs actually playtest before releasing these challenges.

  • for piggy my favorite combo is her test subject head + pig leather outfit, easily.

  • +1 for the original realms, I really really hope they prioritize the oldest maps first since I see them the most often, although I did get a bit excited when I saw their yamaoka house WIP because that realm seriously needs a makeover too.

  • 100% snipetress, the idea of a killer being able to hit you outside her terror radius, much less across the map? it's just insane. with every other killer there tends to be some reaction time, especially if spine chill's in play, but if you're getting sniped by a god tier huntress? nowhere is safe.
