You think those people are only Killer? Seems more likely the fragility would be on the survivor side. I mean to be bullied and brought down by an effeminate male killer might make some funny people uncomfortable. An unlike Killers, who could just decide not to play him, survivors would not have that option to forcibly not face him so they would be more vocal about how they want him gone.
Assuming I bought into the thought that the Alphabet community is truly being targeted and harassed but I’m on PS4 and I’m not exposed to any homophobia or whatever. Most of my message exchanges, that turn ugly, very rarely go that direction.
Oof, there's some strong anti-LGBT+ vibes here and I'm not engaging with you because of it.

Having 3 on gens right at the start depends on spawn points, because we've actually had this happen commonly in my swf we each spawn on different gens and one of us gets chased and by the time the killer gets them down and hooked they just lost 3 gens already. And even if say you werent on a gen right at the start after the killer hooks they still gotta get to a gen so you could still have 3 gens done in say 90-100 seconds? Not gonna say gens are to fast but with how long loops take its no surprise the anti loop killers are the best ones.
Yeah, spawn points factor in...but there's a bunch of variables in the scenario. If the chase leads someone towards one of those gens, if the killer gives up the chase to try and get some hits on everyone, if there's slowdown perks that already exist (Corrupt), skill check shenanigans...and then on the other side there's toolboxes and brand new parts and great skill checks...
I'm sorry if this comes off as snippy, but it's just...yeah, things happen in a game. And the complaints from people here that "Oh it's all DS's fault! Oh gens are too fast! Oh tunnelling and camping are bad!" it's...yeah it's a game. There are pieces. There will be winners and losers. And what I'm seeing in this game more than any other except Madden is that it's never "I was outplayed," it's "Nerf this thing." And because the game is so complex, there is always going to be a scenario to prove your point.
This isn't attacking you.

Actually since gens take 80 seconds to do and say you spawn 20 seconds away from the survivors and you start chasing one. First hit say takes 20 seconds which they hold w so it takes you 20 seconds to catch back up (so thats 60 seconds so far. Take 10 seconds to get the next hit then 10 to hook. 3 gens pop. (Thats 80 seconds) because 4 survivors 1 killer while your chasing one the other 3 could be on gens.
It's possible, yes, though I don't think that situation is the norm. But point taken, three gens can be finished in less than three minutes.

3 gens in 3 minutes isn´t the problem.
3 gens before you get the first hook IS the problem.
And if it's taking you three minutes to get your first hook....
I think you've identified the problem pretty nicely. Well done.

Yes, but you seem to not be able to read pal.
You still forget about the part where the devs can finally punish tunneling.
Also, if we are going to start being blunt. Were you ######### high when you did your suggestions? They literally will ruin the game. Killers will just up and leave. Because they wont be able to do anything to stop semi decent players. Speed up the game, ######### off. Your idea will encourage tunneling and camping, as well as other things such as slugging which every survivor hates.
You obviously have no idea what your talking about and have limited time in this game otherwise wouldn't come up with such idiotic suggestions.
How would they punish tunneling though? The Devs have said it's a legitimate strategy.
And did I upset you? I'm very sorry if I did.
My feeling is, when the average game I see is lasting about 15-20 minutes (assuming no DC's), that is too long for an online game of hide and seek to last. I think closer to 10 minute games is desirable, and slowing things down getting closer to 30 minute games is worse for getting players involved.
I believe that players hate tunnelling and camping and slugging because when the game is so long, they feel they're wasting their time. If it's quicker, no harm no foul. Quicker games help matchmaking, because more players are available to be matched. That's why the successful games today tend to go fairly quickly.
Slowing the game down, based on my hours of play, only serves to draw out an unfun game, and requires more fixes on top to solve the issue of...tunnelling, I guess? This thread is about NOED and Genrushing, but you proposed a fix to tunnelling, as long as you could still get a 3k and a pip. But it seems to me that saying "Make this harder for the survivors, and now we can make this punishment for the killer who does this old strat" is a lot less interesting than "Speed up the game and give the killers fun new powers!" But your mileage may vary.
Dead By Daylight is a relic in game years. It's slow and awkward, and yes, pretty boring unless played really well or in a group. It really needs to be retired and a new version come out.
I may not reply to you anymore, because I was hopeful that we'd have a fun conversation and I frankly don't enjoy this. But I will read your reply, if you want to give one.

Not if the devs put back all the pallets they removed and how tiles used to spawn so even the worst survivor could last 2 minutes again. Did you forget that Dbd used to be a game where most deaths happened either after all gens were done or rage quits? Even Spirit was mediocre back then cuz of how the tiles and pallets were set up.
Yes, you can continue changing variables and the game will change. I completely agree with that.
Isn't there an issue with too many pallets right now though? (At least on The Game?)
-
@Sonzaishinai said:
The thing with dbd is that it's a very swingy game. It's a game of scales.
It starts with all the advantage to the survivor. But every action tips the scale to the killer side. Pallets get broken. Players lose hookstates. Gens completed make the patrol area of the killer smaller. Etc...
And once the scale starts tipping towards the killer it's very hard to pull it back.
A 4 man escape 5 minute game could very easilly have been a 4k game if the killer was able to get a slug or 2 at the start.
The game is almost solely based on how fast the killer can get the pressure ball rolling.
This is an amazing description of the game. Thank you for putting this into words!

I'm pointing out the flaws in the idea of speeding up the game, the thing that is already fast enough and to try and balance the killer around that and stop swf from having an instant win off that is just not going to happen.
"My case", as you put it, is to slow down the game to help with the issue of tunneling, because the slowdown would allow for the game to punish tunneling.
So yes, pointing out why other resolutions of the same problem aren't as effective as my solution does help "my case".
Sigh. Cards on the table, your ideas are bad and unnecessary. You said this:
"If gens were slowed down to the point where it wasn't necessary to tunnel to be able to get a 3k and pip, then the devs could punish tunneling, or give incentives to killers to not tunnel (new perk is a good idea. But it's a perk) without it destroying a killers chance."
Tunnelling, as it exists now, will still be the optimal strategy no matter how slow gens are.

Still, even brainstorming ideas the flaws needed to be pointed out. This isn't an attack on you, this is saying the idea still probably wouldn't work.
Cutting to 3 gens, and having 4 survivors, unless every killer is buffed to nurse levels and nurse even more so, then it won't happen. Unless the killer can pressure everyone at once then it really won't happen. Also the pressure put on them, again, will mean tunneling will be more necessary.
If pointing at flaws in wishes and dreams is your thing, go off. But it doesn't help your case.

Survivors: *after working together to counter facecamping* gg ez bb killer
Killers: OMG YOU'RE WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS COMMUNITY

Way too easy to blame everything on one side. :)
Killers are so fragile. It's hilarious.

To make it clear, I don't mean the whole community. But I noticed something today again. The new killer is live and so many people are crying, arguing and being homophobic. A few days ago everyone was hyped for the hints on Twitter were already was hinted that it will have something to do with kpop and Korean. But now, since it's not a female killer but a men killer everyone is saying the design is bad and not fitting... I was reading the story and this killer is extremely good fitting.
There are a lot of fragile and insecure players of DBD (obviously not all, and there's a thriving LGBT+ community). I think there's some weird power fantasies of being a killer and hunting down and killing people that...less savory types really enjoy. They can picture themselves as Trapper or Bubba or Freddy, and they love that image of themselves, but when the Trickster arrives they start feeling differently and don't know how to self-reflect on their own feelings in the game, and get weird about it.
It's kind of scary, but the best counter is not to take them too seriously or let their problematic views dominate the discourse.

I didn’t say I don’t win nor need advice on killer, I just said that having 3 pallets right next to each other and breakable walls are not good, especially for newer players. Tbh, survivors are so bad that I don’t even play killer that much anymore, it’s literally turning into a pallet simulator game.
If you’re on console you can gladly join me and dc right away and spectate me and see when a top survivor like me gets pallets like that if I’ll get caught or not. I win very easily games without any dead hard, spine chill, sprint burst and not to mention adding that and that’s why I said, more and more maps have way to many pallets and it’s not good for killers.
You can take your survivor main speeches about breaking up chases and crap to other peoples threads who aren’t devotion 12 like me and might buy into that ######### because literally any killer who knows how to play wouldn’t break off a chase to let the injured survivor heal back and go other side to finish gen.
Anyways thanks for your input
Sweet, sweet killer tears. I love this thread.

For me it's a problem when I lose 2 seconds to kick a generator and a survivor only needs a half second to stop regression, not mention "overcharge" if a survivor leave after tapping gen the skillcheck appears even if move too far from and can still succed skillcheck to prevent a explode.
1% not fix the problem, kick a gen takes 2 seconds, gen tapping about 0,5 seconds.
You're right, that's totally unbalanced!
Did you know the killer moves quicker than the survivor too?? I mean, what kind of shoddy balance is this?!
It's almost like it's asymmetrical or something!

If you make the game faster, then the survivors at high rank almost auto win unless they are brainless. The issue is that they can punish tunneling , but they need to slow down gens.
By making gens faster, I would say there should be an even bigger reward for killing people off. They need something to contend with the fact it's a 4v1 they can only pressure 1 at a time and so 3 gens will fly by instantly on first hook. That's a huge thing to deal with, and in higher level of plays unless they are literally given a buff for kills then they won't be able to contend.
Your idea doesn't balance it, and I don't think you see that, it destroys the game for killer.
First, like I said, I'm not working on design. It's brainstorming. Please read. My post does specifically say to buff the killers.
Obviously as is you can't just say "speed up gens and cut to 3 to end the game." But I'd say you could do that if you made the killers better too. They're too slow and awkward moving, so make them control better and faster as well. Make the game less boring.

As I thought, it’s the Angry Pug army of suck ups commenting and yes ofc I can break pallets and yes I was playing Oni and could’ve 4k but I prefer to 12 hook and not play pallet simulator with brainless survivors.
Yes, this map is very killer sided, that’s why I haven’t lost a game on this map out of my last 20 because the saloon is so weak for survivors, especially if killer hasn’t spawned in the saloon and survivors run up the stairs, loop the window and head towards right, very very weak saloon loop.
So what we have here is another case of *delicious killer tears*. Use your crying to feed the forum, M1Trapper.

As you can see on these 2 picks, there’s 3 pallets that are few steps apart and this is why I don’t bother chasing survivors on these maps. Alone that you are forced to break 3 out of 4 walls at the saloon and a couple more on the other side of the map is 2-3 free gens for survivors and than you get these 3 pallets which makes it a teabag fiesta for survivors, altho they play like rank 20’s.
The thing is that this happens and it’s not always “but” more and more maps are becoming like this and I’ve seen couple pallets lately spawn like this. It’s no wonder that less and less killers 4k and I barely even get hooked anymore as survivor and if I die it’s because 3 ppl can escape but we turn it into a ######### show at the end to save 1 survivor and killer 1 hooks 3 ppl. The only survivors that die on my team lately are the ones that use spine chill, dead hard or sprint burst and still get outplayed, the ones that even slightly know how to loop escape easily.
Did you know you can break pallets as a killer? When they drop them, you can push a button and the pallet is smashed and gone for the rest of the game!

@ilovedbd123 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1996286#Comment_1996286
The issue is, if the gens go down quicker, tunneling will occur more, no matter if you only have 2 hooks or not (so 80s on hook) because then the 3 people not pressured are doing gens even quicker.
If you slow down the game, killers aren't pressured as much by times, and therefore tunneling becomes less of a necessity.
But tunneling matters less if the games are quicker. If you only need three gens to power the gates, and they're done quicker, the killer can't stay near a hook, he's got to try and get someone off a gen or leave with one kill.
And if the killer is quicker and more deadly, they're more fun to take out and hunt rather than camp or tunnel because they're so awkward with weak powers.
This is all just spitballed ideas, more of a premise than a pitch, but that's what I mean when I say I think the whole game needs a redesign to be consistently fun.
Your statement that slowing down the game makes tunneling less of a necessity might be true, but I don't see how it still isn't the best play (it just makes it more likely the killer will win, unless they are altruistic and decide "Eh, I won't tunnel.").
-
@ilovedbd123 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1996255#Comment_1996255
Well, let's say it like this.
If gens were slowed down to the point where it wasn't necessary to tunnel to be able to get a 3k and pip, then the devs could punish tunneling, or give incentives to killers to not tunnel (new perk is a good idea. But it's a perk) without it destroying a killers chance.
Oh ok, gen slowdown plus other changes. I'd doubt there's a way to stop it, besides making Borrowed Time essentially built into all players.
Interestingly, I might go in the other direction. Make the games much quicker than they are. Speed up gens but hook someone twice and they're out, for example (not thought though, just an example of what I mean). I'd like to eliminate the boring games where nothing happens. I think that's just the design of the game needing an overhaul though, haha.

I was saying gen speed slowdown actually, to make tunneling less necessary, so that the game can be better for both sides.
Why wouldn't you tunnel anyway with gen speed slowed down? It's still the tactically correct move.

I don't think there is any chance that they ignored feedback on colorblind mode for years, but then after one tweet from a dude with like 75k followers they decided to bang out a functional colorblind mode in six weeks. Not trying to diminish the guy - just saying it's unrealistic to expect that he's the reason for this. I'd be surprised if they weren't already working on it well before that tweet.
I mean, if you want to believe in coincidences, I guess you can.
I'll take the explanation that requires fewer assumptions.

I don't think there's any chance some Twitter checkmark is the reason we're getting colorblind settings lol
Blight POV required a lot of work to change and they needed time for that
DS was already nerfed three times before this nerf. They were certainly not ignoring it and this is the exact change lots of people were asking for
---
However, 100% agreed about performance. Hopefully that gets sorted because it would be unacceptable for that to reach live.
Absolutely have Steven Spohn to thank for the colorblind mode. He's a great advocate for gamers, I wouldn't reduce him to "some Twitter checkmark."

I think NOED is fine. Do bones.
I play survivor probably about 65% of the time, and the times when NOED comes into play it's because gens went fast and nobody bothered to do totems.
The thing the new DS has going for it is that it's going to be much less likely that you're going to come across that same survivor 50 seconds later and get hit with DS -- if that's the case they didn't do anything that while time so it's no longer really a worthwhile to abuse it.
I didn't ask anything except if your statement was about the old DS or the new. Which was it about?

Meanwhile, Trapper's rockin' the rubber waders, and Billy's got a permanent 'o' face. I'd also go back and watch a Nightmare on Elm Street movie sometime, see how scary you guys find Freddy after that.
I shouldn't even have to go into how adorable Demomuffin is, but by now you get the picture.
