1. Not always and not recommended if hurt since you leave a trail.
2. 360s only really work on lower ranks and doesn't help in the middle of no where. It's better to find a loop or a pallet.
3. It's best to pick up multiple "styles" and be decent at all of them since you'll likely be doing them all
4. You mean use his perks? Also for huntress avoid being out in the open and if you can, stealth is always preferred. You can hear her humming and she's very strong in chase.
5. Also be aware of time. If everyone's on the opposite side of the map and you wait until last second, the person's going into struggle. Idealy someone will be heading over at the halfway point and it's really only an issue when everyone's going for the save or someone's there to farm the person.
6. No, still unhook, otherwise you're leaving someone who possibly saved you to die.
7. This is true for the most part. You can also hear stealth killer noises with your headphones.
8. I agree with this. Only get ruin if it's nearby you 'cause there's likely someone else looking around for it.
9. I think she can though if she holds it down long enough
10. Omg, so I hate trying to stab people with Meyers and I go to stab where I think it'd hit and it's a total whiff 'cause I'm used to other killer dimensions.
11. If they're too new to know about black locks, they probably shouldn't be messing with keys. Better to save them until you get a better understanding for the game imo.
12. If you are only running into red ping, make sure to do stuff earlier than you think you'd need to (Such as throwing the pallet or vaulting).

Killers get more points on average and their farming perk is easier to stack. Does that answer your question?

It is not fun, but its written somewhere in the acceptable killer playbook, that getting one player out of the game expediently is the smart thing to do. Sure it is not fun for the person being tunneled/camped and run out of the game, but that's the nature of competitive play. Anything for a win. I've heard a popular streamer use the excuse that if survivors rush gens he rushes kills. Well, okay then. I think this is something survivors will just have to live with. It has been punished (killers lose points for staying near the hook) and it has been rewarded (BBQ is an incentive to leave the hook and find someone else), and still it happens. Neither action is bannable, and it is as distasteful to survivors as a 4 man swf on comms with insta-heals. Merely something we all have to deal with.
The killer face camping me with a trolly name isn't because he was being expedient. He was giving survivors a bad time and being toxic. His only goal is probably to make someone feel bad in the same way as those smurfs who bully newer killers or the SWF death squad all with insta-heals (though you can at least bring Franky's for that). It may not be against the rules, but it's still really annoying to come across and makes for unfun experiences that are likely to drive people away. I've come across too many killers who have this sort of thing going for them and it's frustrating. They're only playing to give people bad games, going by their profile and how they act in game and I don't remember seeing it to this degree before, making me believe it's gotten worse.
-
Let me remind you, the time waste and the hidden DS was the biggest reasons why it was so bad before. Hidden DS would go off while you're carrying someone for a ways, essentially wasting a whole lot of time, and you would often have to waste time dribbling and so on, too. This was all at the start of the match with a fresh hook, so that would often mean you wouldn't be able to get the obsession unless you were willing to eat a stun or dribble them. It's fine the way it is now, even with the armor for 60 seconds. It has a prerequisite to activate now and is pretty easy to work around.
If someone were to have hooked someone close to you and you happened to be saved, you wouldn't be safe from them returning to tunnel. It's just to make sure your time between your hooks (whenever you use it) is a bit longer, even if you are vulnerable.

I'll give hatch if I'm in a good mood or there was a DC. c:

It's like the Survivor is in control off the game and its sad...
Are you talking about SWF of Solo? SWF, sometimes depending on team. Solo, yeah, no. Most of the time when I complain, it's due to those who are just trolling to give the other team a bad time or to be toxic. Honestly it's better to go to the next target, though, and not stick around the hook. If you can get BBQ, it's good for points too. c:
Ironically,on these forums ,killers cry way more than survivors.
There's a lot of killer mains on here.
-
I know how it sounds.
I think they should limit what perks can be used while SWF. So for instance, you can only have one of each. Can't have two bonds, two adrenalines and so on.

Weird, I get a lot of rank "20s" when I'm up there if you catch my drift.

It's slow for me, too, and I had quicker lobbies recently, too. I wouldn't be surprised to hear it's because there isn't as many survivors as before. GF is still rather new and I've heard and seen a lot of people quit the game.

@fluffymareep Like I said, it's quite rare for a killer to camp/tunnel for the sole purpose of ruining the match.
Also, survivors do have ways to improve communication. Kindred and Bond for example. And yet survivors keep saying "solo survivors have no way to communicate".
You see, I don't think it's a good idea to give survivors extra information for free. Because that opens up a whole can of worms in terms of balance. Part of the reason survivor is fun has to do with the uncertainty factor. As a good survivor, you need to be able to make smart decisions. But unfortunately, the player pool is filled with low experience people. And that's why survivor sucks to play right now. Devs need to figure out a better way of separating players.
@Mister_Holdout I've seen so many people doing it, I doubt it's as rare as you think.
Oh, yes. There's a lot of perks to "help" solo survivors. Too bad it's being addressed with perks to essentially make solo players so much weaker than SWF who not only have communication and coordination, but also get to choose their teammates. Of all the times I've put on Kindred, I don't think it's helped me out once, too. People will still charge at the hook or leave you to second stage on it. Bond is just all around helpful. I bring it, regardless. It's good information.
I disagree. Survivors having more information wouldn't be an issue because the killer could just get buffs and so on to make up for it. It would also help Killers against SWF, too, if they're put on the same level and killers are given buffs to address both. While solo, it doesn't matter if you're a good survivor, either. If you ever get down, you're putting your life in someone else's hands. DS may help, but it only helps once and no one's willing to block for others, even while full health. Someone surviving doesn't always translate to them being good, same with someone pipping and most people get pulled up with SWF, I think, where the communication is easier and the coordination is better.
-
Don't search for the totem. Work on gens and practice your greats. If you're in a new area, look around at the totems by all means, but ruin is possible to work through. I've had games where everyone got out (or most everyone) and ruin was still up at the end. If you get a good, hop off quick to give the gen time to regress. It is also recommended to work solo on gens.
-
Won't it still have negative affects while a person is asleep? It's also passive and allows Freddy to hit people even while they're awake. People need to stop treating this like a nerf. It's like they don't even know what that word means.
-
I think it's fine the way it is. You have to remember with the perk, you can see when someone throws down a pallet (if you're nearby). It's just a matter of paying attentiion and checking for the pallet first before you get into a chase if you can.
-
That'd probably be better, but I'm not sure if it's something that could be applied to one survivor spamming actions. It may end up like Crows where one will notify you and then you'll get a waiting duration where no crows can notify you.
-
You're not alone. 💕 Toxicity isn't fun to come across and sometimes you get very unlucky and get like multiple games in a row that has rude people in them. It almost feels like it's everywhere these days.

@Skelly said:
Killers don't win unless they get 4k. Nothing else satisfies them. I'm sorry you had bad games like that. Playing with friends does make it more enjoyable though! Win or lose. Best of luck.
I have nothing against wanting a definitive win and more of an issue with people whose intent is to ruin someone's game. It just stinks when you want to play at weird hours of the day and no one's awake that you usually play with. I think it's partially on me, though, since I was having troubles connecting to anyone. Didn't think my luck would be so poor, though. Maybe I should run a few games as Ace haha.

@Steve0333 said:
What rank are you? In lower ranks you get a lot more campers because some people are not as experienced (and hard face campers rarely make it passed rank 15) When I first started playing this game I was a camper. That's just the first thing many people do before they really learn the game and start to realize there are better strategies out there. I wouldn't assume they are doing it just to give you a hard time. It might not be malicious. It could just be inexperience.
I'm rank 6. I'm not sure how people who face camp people got up to the higher ranks since the pip system is supposedly supposed to help against that, but I dunno. I'm in the lower ranks as killer and I don't camp people. The most I do is patrol if everyone's obvious and nearby. Their name was "Monster," though, and they had something taunting people he camps/tunnels in his description. I've had so many killers just like that. It's hard to say they aren't doing it on purpose when they do stuff like that.
-
@AStupidMonkeyy Isn't what you posted considered working with the killer and is reportable? I know that killers aren't the only jerks (I play both sides and you honestly see more of SWF being awful as solo survivor, sometimes at least), but that doesn't mean it's something that shouldn't be addressed or thought about. It makes the game a lot less playable if you get poor luck and get multiple games with this sort of stuff. I think something should be done to help against toxicity. I have no idea what, but there's communities with a lot less toxicity. Idm if it's additional help to both teams to make killer and solo play better feeling along swf and putting stuff into place to help encourage that.
@Mister_Holdout I don't think it's just that. The lack of information hurts a solo team imo. You can't clearly communicate that the killer is camping. People come, anyway, and waving just seems to make people swarm for whatever reason. I'd rather die on hook and have people do crap than everyone get killed 'cause he just grabs them off since he's camping in my face. And mind you, this is after not doing anything wrong and from an account announcing their goal is to give people bad times, essentially. I don't think the amount of toxicity is good for this game's health. It doesn't matter the side.
-
I was wondering if you can play at red rank without some sort of tunneling/focus down some survivors. I would like to give out a challenge.
Imo, it's only tunneling if the killer is returning to a fresh unhook and proceeds to chase down the unhooked person. If you find them later, it doesn't count. You proabably shouldn't be returning to an unhooking unless you can't find anyone, then it's worth checking out. I find that people working on objectives are always more important to pressure, though. I typically try to play the way you describe, though it's very hard to focus on both keeping up pressure and keeping track of what hook everyone's on.
I know this is kinda unnecessary, but I wish they made an indicator when someone is down that showed if they were on death hook or not. Sometimes I don't want to kill anyone and I accidentally kill someone.
-
Also plenty do care. It's easy to forget the good and focus on the bad. It may seems as though survivors don't "care," but I'm sure some have done things to demonstrate they do and either you didn't notice or didn't realize it. Or maybe you did see it and just chose to focus on the negative. It's a really easy thing to do.
-
@Acromio said:
Getting looped and rushed isn't fun either, but survivors don't care. So...
They had ruin. We had 5 gens left. Do you want a corner to cry or what?
-
Tunneling is weird in this context because it is a chasing interaction and you can't change a gen that doesn't move.
Also I wanted to add that "tunneling" is (I believe) an action verb, so it just creates a massive dissonance when paired with something that can create action and something that cannot. I wanted to edit to add that, but the site is being really slow for me for some reason and froze my browser when I tried to edit.
I didn't mean anything rude by asking if English wasn't your first language. I was trying to figure out what your intent was. I wasn't sure if killers were trying to patronize survivors by basically mimicking what they were complaining about word for word, but then replacing a part with something nonsensical to imply what they're complaining about makes no sense, too.
-
@AStupidMonkeyy said:
Players will play like they want. Just like survivors will teabag you on the hook or flick a flashlight at the killer or spam window vaults to annoy the killer. It's just part of the game.
Wait, how do you teabag on the hook? o-o Also they spam window vaults 'cause either they want your attention to farm or they want you to chase them. Most of the time when I go over to see what they want, it's that they want to farm, though.

@fluffymareep I understand the concept of tunneling as going for the same objective and ignoring everything else until said objective is done. Since tunneling isn't really a word, not everyone might understand this concept equally. Many people think it's just about killers ignoring other survivors until the tunneled survivor is dead. But essentially this can also applied to gens. Since killing survivors is an objective for the killer as repairing gens is a objective for survivors.
Since you asked, English is my fourth language.
I hope I answered your question.
You know when you get tunnel vision? You see one person and one person only. For instance people could be running around you, but you wouldn't see them. I believe that's where it comes from. You can't tunnel something you're doing half heartedly, so survivors can't tunnel gens unless they're fighting with the killer over a certain gen (they keep returning to it, despite having other options), but that usually leads in vulnerability or death, especially if done early on when many gens need to be done. Additionally when you get down to three generators, returning top any of them wouldn't be considered "tunneling" unless you would also consider not giving hatch to be tunneling.
Tunneling is weird in this context because it is a chasing interaction and you can't change a gen that doesn't move.
Also by your logic, any action with survivor is considered tunneling. Not touching a regressing gen, regardless of if it's one you keep returning to, isn't the same as tunneling down someone relentlessly. It isn't the same as following one survivor without paying mind to any of the others or returning to them repeatedly (even while in another chase where you'll likely get a down) to finish them off or at least try to.
-
@Tsulan said:
I wonder if survivors could play like this.
Not tunneling gens. Every time the killer kicks a gen, the survivors can't touch it unless it's completely regressed.
Is English not your first language? You can't tunnel gens.

Yeah, it's really easy when you're the one sandbagging your team. Some of us care if our team dies, though. And likewise, literally nothing I can do about boosted teammates who don't care (and often would like) if I died. I can't do anything about no one bringing BT since it's not as strong or helpful as other perks and can be quite useless with solos who charge the hook without BT 'cause they don't care. That's the biggest issue about solo survivor. Your survival depends on you never being found. I don't think killers actually want this.
I'd have to agree with Ember. I enjoy playing killer because you control what happens. Your fails get more points than theirs, always. Unless you afk in the corner, I guess. You control that killer bm and camping people. You control how you react to a farm. You don't control any of that as survivor and can only hope for mercy and a good sport and a lot feel entitled to that sort of behavior. They're probably too young to know any better and think it's okay.

No, it's definitely because of ghostface. He's new and a lot of people are trying him out and playing him a lot 'cause he's pretty decent. Also there's a BP offering event and you get more BP as killer, so it makes more sense to play killer.
-
The only thing about making any sort of KWF mode, it'd be easy to deny survivors any chance of escape if two people are going after the same person. You just go after them at different angles.
-
Wouldn't they need to make more hiding spots or ways to hide? It'd be hard to loop anything you can't see past and that's the base of what survivors can do in to get away and to give their team enough time to realistically get things done without all of their resources being depleted.

That's the thing though, the distraction event almost never happens. You'd be trading something that is inconsistent by more happens more often for something that is inconsistent and happens nearly never. If you want WGLF to get stacks consistently why not have it go off of assist scoring events. They work near perfectly and at a decent frequency if you're generally trying to do team work.
I'm not talking about trading. I'm talking about adding. We could do the assist instead, though.

Well if they hit you while their original target is in close proximity then you're supposed to be getting a protection hit. The perk diversion shouldn't give stacks though.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/545796#Comment_545796
We've got a perk that gives bonus bp for healing other already which a lot of people don't use. Also, people already sort of lose their minds with WGLF just trying to fight for unhooks.
If they also got tokens for healing you would have to consider the effect it would have on people fighting for that heal. It could potentially derail multiple people healing one person as the game does keep track of how much healing someone has done as number value that can surpass or fall well below qualifying as a health state.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/546758#Comment_546758
Killers do not have an aggro to take in the scoring sense. Chases are determined more by how far into the killer's TR you are and whether or not the game can reasonable determine you're in a chase. If both people run the same way then there isn't anything that changes. If you run different ways and the killers picks one of you to follow you have protected the other person. If you get in the killer's way while they're chasing someone else, but they don't hit you and just maneuver around you then you've also not protected them.
There is a scoring event for distractions, but that is even harder to proc than protection hits.
I'm not talking about the perk.
The perk that no one uses is because it only applies to end game, where you wouldn't be sticking around to heal and you often don't make it to or often have altruism full due to all the healing you've done already. People fight over unhooks because protection hits are inconsistent and there's only so many times someone can be hooked. You can be denied your stack easily if you're not the only one bringing in the perk. Then it comes down to who's most aggressive with saves.
Even if it's harder to proc, it still gives more chances to get stacks that would be involving yourself with other survivors as I believe is the intent of the perk. Then you don't have to just rely on protection hits counting (which they're largely inconsistent), but you could stacks from distraction, too, which may be inconsistent, too, but it's likely something you'll naturally do during the game, anyway.
-
@se05239 I was thinking if you took aggro or distracted a killer from who they were chasing, that could be considered protection since the person could have gone down quicker or could even be death hook.
I'm not sure what could convince the devs to make it easier to get stacks or why they're not jumping on suggestions.
-
Do you go straight over to your totem first thing when you spawn in or patrol areas you think they may have spawned? As a survivor, a lot of times I'll look at where the killer goes first or where they keep returning to when looking for a totem.

The thing is, I dead harded but if I'm in the basement by suffocation pit I don't get far and that's exactly what happened. DS would've helped me get out but I still have the trap and she tunneled on purpose so there was just no way.
I would say mix and match for a few games to see what you like. Survivors don't really need any particular perks or even items to do well and you might find different builds you like more than your current one if you experiment with them a bit.

@fluffymareep No problem. :) I can see how what I'm saying can seem conflicting.
I would never disconnect in that situation unless I think the game might be glitching. Otherwise, I'll search. I'm stubborn, and I don't like giving up bloodpoints.
I think it was actually considered holding the game hostage by the devs. Am I completely positive? Well, no. Which is why I think we need a dev to weigh in on this, otherwise it's just a discussion between players, and all we have are opinions, hearsay, and disinformation.
Back before the EGC, when I was going for an adept achievement as The Nurse, I had a survivor go into hiding with 4 gens left (so no hatch). It took 12 minutes to find and sacrifice them because they were hiding in dead zones refusing to touch a gen. I reported them, and when I did, the devs had me submit a video. I don't know if any action was taken against that player, but the devs didn't tell me "that's not a reportable offense." They treated it seriously.
Still, anecdotal evidence. We really need official input from the devs themselves.
@TragicSolitude I don't DC unless the game messes up. I see so many people DCing over everything and anything and it's really annoying, though. Can't wait for dedicated servers where they'll be punishing that more (I believe). Who would we @ to get their two cents? I'm curious on what they think, too.
They contacted you for a video? I've never been asked for a video in any of my reports. Did they like message you on steam?

But somehow the devs don't care? I know it's a meme to hate on them, but I think some people are too hard or simplify the situation too much. I'll say it's fair to say some survivors don't care about the killers fun, but if it makes killers feel any better, they also don't care about their "randoms" fun. I don't think it's productive to just complain all the time without acknowledging the good, too.

@fluffymareep Dude, I'm one of the people who gave tips. https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/543827/#Comment_543827 I was able to find the survivors who hid from me. I also usually bring Whispers if my killer has it unlocked. I'm not saying I can't find hiding survivors.
I'm just saying, if the killer isn't experienced and can't find the survivors, and the remaining survivors decide to hide on the map with no hatch and not touch gens, then how does the match end without someone disconnecting? The killer can't end the game because they're not experienced enough, and the survivors are refusing to end the game. How does that match end?
Back before the EGC, a survivor was considered to be holding the game hostage if they hid around the map not doing anything after the exit gate was opened. Yes, the killer could still find and sacrifice them, but the survivor could have been hiding anywhere. They were refusing to play the game, and if they did it for an extended period of time they were holding the killer hostage.
@TragicSolitude Ohh, I read what you posted, but didn't read the name. Sorry.
Most people won't wait out for that long and you could just wait for them to slip up or search around the map. DCing should always be last resort and people already DC far too eagerly. I don't think it's justified in a situation where you can possibly still find them. Might be good practice, even.
Was it something that was actually considered holding the game hostage? Like did anyone get in trouble for it or are we just assuming they did? Did the devs say something against it?
-
I run DS all the time and I've yet to be Rancor. DS is the best counter to this sort of play. What's your current build? I'm sure you can make room for it.
How does Dead Hard help me there? I always run Dead Hard it doesn't do ######### there.
You can DH through the killer's swing or DH away if you time it right. I used to rely heavily on DH before the DS change. That's only if you have good timing for it, though, and can possibly get to safety.
-
@TragicSolitude said:
@fluffymareep I'm pretty sure if the survivors aren't actively working to end the game for an extended length of time, then they're holding it hostage. If they're moving around the map, preventing afk crows from spawning, but not doing anything else, then the only way the game can end is if the killer somehow manages to find them (and there's an entire map to search, they could be literally anywhere on it, there's no way to narrow down their location because they aren't working on the objective) or the killer disconnects.
If the survivors aren't working on generators but are hiding together on the map, then they can't escape. They can't win. What are they even doing? Nothing except dragging the game out. They're not getting points. The killer's not getting points. At that point, why not just give themselves up to the killer and end the game? If they're not working on gens, then that's how it's going to end, anyway, with them being sacrificed. What's the point of forcing it to continue if no one's making points or having any fun?
The only reason to keep the game going in that manner is in the hopes the killer will disconnect. There's no other reason to do that.
I think we need a dev to weigh in on whether or not this officially constitutes holding the game hostage, because all any of us players can do is spout opinions, hearsay, and disinformation.
@TragicSolitude I'm not sure if you're aware of what you're suggesting. Stealth isn't against the rules. People not working on generators isn't against the rules. You're not holding the game hostage as survivor if you decide to stealth around the map. The killer can still find, catch, and kill you. The game is held hostage when you can't move forward without DCing. You can.
While it's frustrating to try to find people hiding around the map, it's still possible. Plenty here have given good tips on how to find people and I've added to them. And as I said if you have this issue a lot, just bring Whispers.
-
They aren't holding the game hostage when they're hiding like that. You can still find them and kill them. It's only holding the game hostage if they get to a place where you can't kill them or the killer decides to block in a survivor and wait until they DC (in otherwords, not do anything). Most survivors will get bored eventually. Otherwise I'd look around where the hatch is if the hatch has spawned yet or check around the basement 'cause sometimes people hide there for memes.
If you're having consistent games where you're having troubles with this, you can bring Whispers so that you know which areas to look in to find them. That way you're not wasting time checking in places where they aren't.

I'd say 10k is all right. 15k is good, 20k+ is really good. Survivor points work differently than killer. You get less by default. If you want points, you play killer usually.
5k is poor and less than that probably means you were camped/farmed to death or played very poorly.

Yeah, Nea could gain knowledge of the future and that could affect future releases. I'm not super up to date with the lore. Does deathgarden take place after dead by daylight? Is the present their present or does it take place in the past technically? Maybe we could get a robot survivor.
