It still is technologically impossible to differentiate general connection losses like black outs, pulling the plug, turning off the router/wifi, the Internet provider having problems aso.
The only things that could be differentiate would be server or client side crashes and would make specified software tools to diagnose necessary to revoke the penalty.

In my mind, the BP gap is already rooted in the fact that killer can never play with friends, so it's another incentive to play the lone role (of course there also people that prefer that) that is also more stressful.

Killer doesn't have comeback mechanics? Have you ever gotten a 2k getting another person downed while camping the hook in endgame collapse? You've never done a mass slug play when all gens are done and got at least 2-3 people that way, really?
You don't count NOED in your book that would by your logic also not count any perk complained about on any side ever, but there are others valid in this book of yours like No Way Out and Blood Warden that can absolutely make total losses into 2ks or more.
On the survivor side, tell me the mechanic or perk that will enable a 3 man escape in a 3v1 at 3+ gens remaining. Or how does more than 1 survivor at best escape in a 2v1 where the exit gates aren't already powered? I need to know.Egc camping? Never done.
Mass slugging? never done in my last two years of playing.
(I made it an experiment to see how grateful/which feedback survivor would give a friendly/fair killer. Hint: It wasn't worth it.)
My point about the perks also, give me an answer that won't be complained about by survivors like the camping, slugging or perks mentioned above.
3 said survivor with 3+ gens to go? How does that even happen without them not sticking to gens and/or the 4th exiting early on hook?
2 survivor left without gates powered? I would say they lost. End of story, get to read it often enough that killer have lost with 4 survivor alive and gates powered/opened.

Lot of childish behavior from both parties here.
Survivors need a catch-up for the late-game, not sure what form that'd take, but once there's two Survivors the game isn't winnable.
It's always funny to me that survivor need a chance comeback option at all times in the game.
Meanwhile where is something for killer when they are on the back foot at for example 1/0 gens left and less than 6 hooks?
Edit: Outside of perks like noed, which is also been complained for by survivor since it's inception and therefore not a valid answer in my book.

I simply look down on those with soft spines, fragile egos, selfish attitudes.
Wrong map โ quit
Wrong killer โ quit
Killer has a wrong perk โ quit
Went down too fast โ quit
Seen all of those and more, despite playing friendly as killer.
Additional disclaimer, I wasn't much better in some matches (stopped trying to play due to excessive hook denial squads for example or quit one time back when the whole team abused a fat shaming spot) but I quit the game fully instead of continuing something that didn't give me entertainment/fun.

Background player is a very healthy perk! Simply don't let the survivor die in the open or on a pallet (something they can control very easily) and then locate the survivor on a super fast killer because if it's m1 killer they just bait you away into power struggle play :D

Not losing pips will literally change nothing. Ppl will still dc as usual, yet we won't see an increase or a decrease because of it. Grades do not effect your mmr or who you get in the lobby. Ever since the banner and badges replaced the grade icon, I never look at my grade at all. I know ill eventually make it to Iri 1 just by playtime. And that's not going to change with no pip lost either. It'll only cause me to make it to Iri 1 faster.
That maybe goes for you but OP is right in terms of some people that are kept from rage quitting die to not anting depip will then do.
Those people will lose one more incentive to tough through an, in their eyes, suboptimal match.
Of course that isn't an "encouragement" but like I said one discouragement less. Just like the times when the DC penalties were off for whatever reason. Not on the same level obviously but probably still noticable.

In cases where 2 survivors die early in the match or give up on first hook at 5 gens as is usually the case in these types of matches, should the game block all except 3 gens to allow the last 2 survivors a chance? even losing just 1 survivor at 5 or 4 gens is usually a lost match at that point
As if those 2 survivors would ever even attempt to do a gen ๐๐๐๐
We had the problem of the last 2 survivor outstealthing forever, making 4 men bleed outs look like instant match endings, since the release of the game.

It was normal game play though, it sucked but holding an irritating 3 gen was never a reportable offence. Thankfully they got rid of that by limiting how much a gen can be regressed but it still creates miserably long matches
And something got done about the 3 gen thing. So how about something gets done about the case complained about in this thread?

Mainly for the fact if the killers chasing someone else its moreso annoying (uncounterable even on some maps) to have a survivor with 80 second shield running in just stopping the ongoing chase twice and getting away probably anyway because your either stabbed or they get themselves up. Thats why i see a main suggestion of removing collision on endurance survivors. So the survivor unhooked cant just play bodyguard for their teammates for a prolonged period of time. Since we know these perks are supposed to help you get away from a true tunnel. But they also can always be used as a weapon. Ill have to see how things change when the update releases. But this is what happened pretty much before and we didnt even have buffed off the record.
Yeah the classic, "Oh, you won't tunnel me? Now that I am safe I WANT you to tunnel me and then I will still blame you for tunneling me."

mkay. Strange.
Whenever I get this exact message (which is indeed the Server crashing and not anything else), I dont get a penalty.
EDIT: Or they changed that, I did not have that happen to me for quite a while.
Is that the server crash message?
Looks to me like a time-out/signal loss, only worded from the clients perspective.
And if the server can't discern a connection loss from their side, it I'll also simply see a connection loss.
A server crash "should" have a dedicated analysis tool and remove the penalty.

This is exactly how I do it. Most the time they are happy they survived. You just have to keep it in perspective they have a low percentage that they make it out of a trial. The few times they do let them enjoy it. If I evaluate my Killer games I win a good deal of them 3-4K. On the occasions of losses it is usually only 2 make it out. Let them enjoy their victory with their limited options of expression.
Strange that their "fun" ever so often needs the full 2 minutes of egc even with the killer being on the other side of the map.

Still a difference on the thing with the Unknown. Since he is not in NEED to kick the gens. Is it really that hard to understand? The Huntress and Trickster NEED to look into lockers.
Dude, read the patch notes,
Duration of ultimate weapon will be cut by half, from 30 seconds to 15 and the cool down goes from 30 to 60 seconds at best.
Meaning, 75% of the time looking into locker will do nothing but be a reload for both killers.
The difference in efficiency of the perk for those two killers and the rest will be negligible and comparable to other killer/perk synergies.

Blast Mine has led me to survivor hiding spots because of the aura reading.
Some survivors have found flashlights from chests despite no one bringing any in.
Lightborn is very good for covering ALL blinds, not just when someone brings a flashlight in. Iโve never had more comments aimed at me around one perk than Lightborn. People seem to forget the Flashbangs, Blast Mines and chests exist.

Yes i was running a gimmick build because i dont like running full meta builds (thats boring) but basically all of my perks were useless. I didnt tbag or bm and still got hard tunneled and hit on the hook for some reason. What exactly was the deal here?
@GeneralV said:

@GolbezGarlandGabrant said:
Is 1 person quick switching all that bad? I'm a Solo player and I spend that 60+ seconds spending BP and try to quickly switch before I get locked in a survivor I wasn't intending on playing.
Well, when someone last second switches in my games I assume a competitive or try hard mindset as killer.
But in my games you wouldn't face tunneling but complete ignorance.
Last second switch in my casual games and I won't interact with you.
From my experience last second switcher are the biggest attention seekers or sweat lord's, so deal with them by not dealing with them.
Sorry for anyone that's the exception but that's what playing this game since release does to killers.
Same with the extinction of most relaxed, casual playing killers. They get owned and/or BM'ed, get fed up with and either quit dbd, switch to survivor or join the other try hard killer giving no f about survivor and start playing however necessary to win.

50-60 sec is not good?
Do you know that even if survivor only run forward it would still takes the killer 40sec to catch up a 24m(gain by injured speed boost) distance?
How poor should the survivors play to make the 50-60 sec chase is "not good" for killer ?
Well, to be fair, you can't run 50-60 seconds in a straight line on any map. So there are always possibilities for them to mess up or the kill to cut them off somewhere.
Not arguing that 2-3 gens gone at 1 hook isn't unhealthy as heck.
From a psychological pov it's bonkers that killer are expected to play with the stressful pressure of survivor having done 60% of their progress (on paper) while they are at a 12th of their own.
It's always a mental uphill battle starting on the back foot for the killer.

That's what I would call being addicted and they should reevaluate themselves. If the only option for those people is to chase that feeling and rage quitting any time they don't get it, then they should simply quit.
I did and quit the game because the relaxed and fun time back from release when people didn't know how to be max efficient and so on will never come back.
Same like any other pvp game.

But on a more serious note, matches are allegedly really at the moment with times less than 10 minutes and also getting tunneled out first makes it a really short endeavor in soloQ.

This feels like a basic understanding when I started playing in 2017 that everyone just ignores now.
In the meantime survivor made it a thing to let the killer come close only to deny that hit by stepping over the line or even dead hard in your face.
Nowadays it's probably only tbagging you will get at the exit, so it's nearly never worth it to go there anymore.
And the most hypocritical thing is survivor complaining about killer wasting 4 minutes of their lifetime only for them standing the full egc duration there at the finish line with the only other option being, getting their will and rubbing it in when the killer decides to push them out.

In an ideal world the killer would 12 hook everyone, never tunnel and participate in a nice fun game for both sides
Everyday I start the game with this mindset but it soon fades after being greeted with 3 or 4 survivors t bagging at the exit gates
playing โniceโ just isnโt optimal, especially against good survivors and I think the problem is the game being balanced around kills, not hooks
tunnelling is far too effective, but often times the killer has no choice but to tunnel, especially on certain maps
I think the game needs another health/ quality of life update. Changes for maps like Badham, the Game ect, Give killers more incentive to spread out hooks while at the same time give survivors more base kit ways to deal with tunnelling.
Matchmaking/ win condition changes would be very welcome as well with more emphasis on quick downs and hook instances as killer, and chase time, stuns and altruistic actions as survivor, instead of just โkillโ and โescapeโ. This would make for much more balanced matches
You can play as nice as you like, but just be conscious of the fact that survivor in the VAST majority won't care.
They won't hold anything back, they won't give you nice feedback (in the majority of cases), they won't stop being obnoxious/toxic and they won't stop calling for tunneling/camping or any other excuse if you sometimes till win hard.
They don't care that they drive they few of us that want to be the breath of fresh air for them away by not acknowledging or encouraging it.

Welcome to being online. Most people are the worst versions of themselves. That goes for killer players too.
You met one survivor who sucked. What about the other three who didn't trash talk? Why focus on the minority and ignore the rest?
Because "the rest" is 90% of the time just silent and therefore complacent.
I did the experiment for a prolonged time by going for 8hooks/0kills with no camping or tunneling and from my observation nice, encouraging messages are about as frequent as or sometimes rarer than blatant toxicity.
The rest is softly positive/negative attitude, like a GG (ez) no matter how the match went, or in the vast majority of cases just silence.

DC penalties are fine if it's a few minutes but it's ridiculous when it becomes hours especially if it's someone getting kicked off by the game. You already lose BP which is punishment enough and sometimes there's a good reason to DC if players are being toxic. You should not be forced to endure griefing.
First of all, as a general advice, please check the dates of the last comments in old threads.
It is generally seen as bad manner/frowned upon on the forum to revive long dead threads like this. This thread has been dead for 4 months, 10 if you ignore those two other necromancers and their one or two replies.
Most often topics of long dead threads become irrelevant due to many patches in the meantime, not applicable in this case but still
And second, to your post, loss of BP or pips doesn't bother most people when dcing and isn't really a punishment.
sometimes there's a good reason to DC if players are being toxic. You should not be forced to endure griefing.
And this here can be so extremely subjective that penalties still need to stay the way they are.
I found a YouTuber yesterday that exposes TTVs for false reporting and hypocrisy in terms of toxicity and when you see what many people see as toxic while on the other side nothing was done or meant that way and then imagine how many of them would rage DC over it, it just shows that free DC at a subjective case of "toxicity" would be abused to hell and back.

I try my best to avoid strategies that are frowned upon, because I know how it feels to be that one survivor who gets tunneled out of the game before they even had the chance to play.
So your experience will probably be similar to mine: either some rare "ggs" in post game chat, or silence.
Tunneling is a problem these days, and it is good to see any killer who doesn't do it from the start. The lack of complaints / toxicity after the match probably reflects that.
Seems like you were the only one that understood the intend behind my question ("what kind of reactions can I expect if I go back playing killer now with all these complaints?").
Good to know that nothing has really changed and despite all the complaining about unfun killer strategies people still haven't learned to encourage the ones that avoid those by ACTIVE positive feedback.
And therefore me coming back would be pointless and only a drop in the bucket.

The problem is not only aesthetics but also gameplay.
What kind of power would a mummy have? A bandage toss that snares or pulls survivor? Already there with killer like deathslinger or cenobite.
The options get more and more limited gameplay wise, especially with an old engine and multiple times mangled spaghetti code.

1. Arrogant tbagger
2. Flashlight clicker
3. Attention seeker in general
4. Advantage(BT)/Exploit abuser
5. Headon squads/duos
6. First hook exitters
And my personal handling of the first 5 is simply ignoring them and depriving them from as much killer interaction as possible. Play normal with the others and then stop dead.
For 6. I make the others have a relaxed game by going easy and trying to let us all make as much bp as possible with ot without straight farming.

Okay I don't really understand your whole point, but to the title asking why survivor run full flashlight squads:
It simply is the most direct form of killer denial interaction there is.
The killer can't really do anything except trying to mass slug them because if they don't then the survivor will always buzz around and try to deny a pickup and therefore the hook.

The December-Chapter is usually the one with the most Bugs, just this time it did not affect the new content, but old content.
@Topic:
While Plaything is bugged and gives an advantage (at least on its own, with Pentimento I would not really say it gives an advantage since you want people to cleanse the Plaything-Totem), the advantage is not too big to justify a Killswitch. However, I have to say, it is really annoying to see it that often, because you just know that many people play it right now because it is bugged.
Sadly, people spamming bugged things to exploit advantages isn't anything new and will always happen.

I cannot call it anything else, not when the perk completely prevents me from getting a hook. Like I said, it is a very extreme example but I compare it to Infinite Mending Legion.
Boil Over is designed to make more difficult for you to reach a hook, just like Legion's Filthy Blade and Nasty Blade add-ons were designed to make the mending action take longer. But using Boil Over like those two players in my trial did makes it impossible for me to reach a hook, just like using those two Legion's add-ons together made the mending action take longer than doing a gen by yourself.
And the players can be blamed, because this is not something they were forced to do. No, they chose to do it, knowing full well what it does to the trial and to the killer.
The developers were very clear to say that players who abused the Legion's exploit were going to be rightfully banned. I believe this should extend to Boil Over.
And the perk needs to be changed, just like Legion's add-ons were eventually fixed.
Tbh, in this case I would've thrown the match just to bleed that no mither dude out. Constant slug camping.
If the other two survivor catch on and let the other boil over abuser lie on the floor or not wouldn't have mattered to me. The no mither guy had a plan and now would face the consequences.
Depending on how much the other two progressed the gens and if the picked the other guy up or not, I would've simply opened the gates. Anything to not play into their antics, "you don't want a fair and fun match? Then duck off!"

I would guess that bots exist to distract the killer a little bit by not having the match immediately be a 3vs1 upon disconnect of a survivor player for whatever reason. Nothing more, nothing less.
They are supposed to be an optional 4th target to get chased to buy the rest of the team 10 or 20 or however many extra seconds time, they wouldn't have with a pure disconnect in the past.
Them making also progress on gens or healing/unhooking teammates is already a bonus.
On the flip side, they aren't "ai". They don't play tactics and even ruin sometimes tactics for the normal players by being singleminded in escaping by opening the door and leaving at the first opportunity.
Edit: Another downside is that they give the killer more opportunities for perk effects related to interaction with survivors. But again, this comes in tandem with the killer not immediately gunning for the other 3 players after a disconnect.
You can't really separate the good from the bad without blatantly making them a different entity in relation to killer perks which would be unfair to the kille in my opinion, if the bot isn't openly flagged as one to give the killer player the option to ignore the bot when interacting doesn't help them. But that would nearly completely invalidate their implementation in the first place.
