  • BT is a beautiful perk for helping prevent slugging.

DS is abused due to the length of time it is active, it is my number 1 perk if I'm playing in a 4 man SWFC

  • Advantage: Breakout

Coordinated groups can notify when going down and make wiggling even faster to escape

  • Advantage: Alert

No need to run, killer when kicking creates are usually after someone so can be reported on comms

  • Advantage: Aftercare

No point running it, aura perk, you know where people are

  • Advantage: Empathy

No need to run it, you know where your team mates are

  • BHVR are aware of the issues but refuse to act. "Matchmaking" doesn't need to be fixed when there are no killers as they simply don't have fun against swf comms unless they actually balanced it instead of just messing around with perks, killers, maps.

  • It isn't matchmaking, it is reduced numbers of killers since.SWF was introduced and not balanced around third party communications, killers don't have fun... I'll exclude the bugs and nerf/reworks

  • Third-party communications used by SWF.

    Map sizes=Generator times

Survivor perks that appear in over 80% of team builds as BHVR don't ask questions why they just ruin then, eg DS, BT

  • The questions don't seem that relevant to the real questions needed to be asked about maps

  • I used to run old ruined ruin, sure luck was involved but at least I could hook a few of them before the gens were done

  • BHVR have stated they intend only you to see your rating if (when) it goes ahead & for now. You could be s red rank survivor playing a noob killer and you wouldn't know

Thank you @Dwinchester , my point was that wait times for survivors have been increased due to swf being introduced and without BHVR balancing wait times increase and the game dies.

Ranking numbers and visibility are attempts to mask information and why the game is dying with more information hidden. BHVR aren't addressing the cause of the disease only offering a paracetamol for the symptoms. It isn't survivors fault thru want more fun and wins with friends, it's BHVRs not planning long term.

  • @Ireath said:

To my knowledge they are not hiding ranks they are just scraping the current system for an mmr system.

To your knowledge? What I'm saying is about hiding information.

You mean you haven't read their idea of hiding ranks?

They are again fixing matchmaking with another system again... since SWF was introduced.

MMR batch matchmaking will not improve wait times, only create longer wait times for killers. Survivors will still have to wait for a player willing to play killer

  • @oxygen said:

So what exactly should they do about it? Because if you mean any form of mechanical nerfs or handicaps (less perks, slower gens or whatever) then yeah, that's never going to happen.

I enjoy DBD as survivor in two ways.

    1. It's a horror with suspense from a powerful killer with lack of information and only perks to help me.

2a. Playing with friends, knowing perks and style but someone who has your back and basically isn't running around looking for the hatch or unhooking you in front of the killer once they find it.

2b. Now the above 2a doesn't exist as external communication is automatically used to enhance the friends experience but remove the lack of information in the game.

SWF was used by BHVR to bring more people into the game at a cost as a disadvantage to the killer. This has never been addressed and is usually taken advantage of by teams shown in the first picture above who are using a common meta perk team build with each assigned a role depending on killer and their perks. Personally I feel this could be even stronger if they didn't use self-care but believe it would mainly be used for end game.

So without going into the numerous examples of advantages of comms there needs to be balance so killers can increase and lobbies don't take longer to get into than the actual game.

Ideas for something that shouldn't really be in a horror game are plenty but are ignored/dismissed without reason:

"...mechanical nerfs or handicaps (less perks, slower gens or whatever) then yeah, that's never going to happen."

Buffs to killers in perks, speed, etc are also possible but whilst fair against a 4 swf or 2&2 swf but not to the solo who joined a lobby with a 3 swf.

Until fairness and some sort of balance is achieved the side that it is unfair and less fun will diminish which is not surprising when it creates long lobby times.

  • You're asking me to prove SWF or SWF on comms is an advantage over solo?

If you can't see why then I'm sorry you can't answer my question

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

So you as green rank killer played against red rank survivors. And your conclusion ist that SWF arent balanced.

You do understand that this doesnt make any sense, right?

"Can anyone tell me if BHVR are actually acknowledging SWF whether on comms or not has an advantage over solos and even more when on comms (which mainly happens)."

    You're saying swf is balanced?

  • @Spirit_Hag said:

Based off the ranks, im sure that game would have ended the way it did whether it was swf or not to be honest. We have to make sure we acknowledge the difference between losing because of shared information amongst survivors, or losing because you got outplayed. Lets not confuse the two

Both pictures aren't to show solo v comms

  • IMG_20200208_005147.jpg

The game ended quicker than I had to wait for it!!! LMAO

  • 20 minutes and I have a game!!!!

  • I mean it is killing this game. I'm still in a survivor queue and all that I hear from BHVR is that there are issues with "MATCHMAKING".

I'm not joking but if nobody can have fun playing killer then 4 other survivors aren't going to be playing either...

Nerfs and reworks don't fix this BHVR, please don't kill this game

  • I thought Ruin needed an alternative and then they reworked it with no map/gen time changes... Trapper overpowered???? Just play trapper, yes I know killer sucks and you'll get red ranks as they don't have fun anymore but go and see how the traps are in the far corners of a huge map and by default you only carry one and... Just play him for a week, it's fun... unless you're playing against survivors who know what they are doing, or SWF on comms following him and telling the entire map where they are.... OMG! Please tell me I've been baited

  • I still can't believe you have to just clean one totem at the end instead of all of them

  • Yesterday I tried to play killer again, I was a green rank 12 playing four red ranks, 1,1,1 and 2!!!

Thankfully I played some green rank survivors who I destroyed during the 5 minute start, I let the final 2 do the 5 gens because I just felt sorry for them.

  • Ignore survivors, play to have fun.

Fun can mean how many you kill, chases, bp points, pips on ranking, meme, cat and mouse, face camping, proxy camping.

Basically survivors have the power to unhook a survivor in the face of a killer and all escape, if they are unable to do that then they will complain to the killer or other survivors but not themselves

  • It comes to opinions and results, the current results are huge wait times for me as a survivor.

Why? BHVR favours survivors so calls it matchmaking. People who would play killer like myself so not find it fun. People who play survivor have soooo much fun that we all stand up in line waiting for someone, anyone to play killer.

Yes it comes at the expense of survivors having fun but if the wait times are more exciting than doing gens then BHVR have done it and no changes are needed

Yes let's make killers unstoppable monstrosities to make the game more fun. Oh, let's also make survivor 75% more boring. Kind regards 🤗

I think it's called balancing the game to have fun for all. I'm not sure what you enjoy in the game as doing gens is one of them. Maybe post a descriptive reply please?

  • These ideas have been posted before and I agree they would be heading in the right direction but BHVR don't care at least any more it seems.

    1) Slow down the gen speed. Add like 60 second per gen, this will be just enough.

    >Map size and gen speeds are obviously a huge problem more so for some killers, decent Ruin was a luck plaster to fix this but they have pulled it off and the blood is flowing now. Length of time needs to be decided and balanced

    2) Let the Killer see, which survivors on his lobby are SWF.

    >No problem with this, let the killer know what they are up against. Comms shouldn't be in the game but it's here and it's fun. Lobby dodging isn't but the other points should fix that with balancing...

    3) Add some debuffs for the SWF. Even slower gens, or +1 gen per 1 SWF member, or bigger emblem rewards for the Killer for playing against a SWF.

    > Yes, something like buff killer (4swf) or nerf survivors in swf, simples

    5) To fight facecamp and tunneling, you can use the very bloodpoint system. For example, if the killer is standing in front of the hooked person, and there are no other survivors in 16 meters range, the hooked person starts gaining 1000 bloodpoints in "survival" category every minute of the facecamping process, because, you know, it's hard to "survive" a facecamping Bubba, and the killer loses the same.

    >It is questionable, I had a Huntress camp from high up

  • Killers face high ranks as there are fewer killers not bad matchmaking.

SWF Comms is a huge balance issue but not for BHVR

    Simples

  • When will you understand matchmaking can't be fixed... Killers are so nerfed now nobody want to play them because the majority don't have fun with them now.

The new matchmaking will only slow down the insta lobbies that killers get .. try then now as killer!

Slower lobbies for killers with the new "batch" matchmaking will only make it worse for killers and hardly noticeable for survivor queue times

  • I'm guessing PC players use Discord and organised on these forum pages or just with friends?

  • Surveys are designed to answer BHVR questions eg What do you think to the Ruined ruin nerf... rework?

Q&A streams are questions vetted by BHVR then asked to BHVR by BHVR...

The time of them listening has passed, simply they don't care to listen and will kill the golden goose it seems

  • Generic killer which will be OP as nobody knows how to play against then, everyone buys them, then they get nerfed... That's the killer I expect

  • I don't mean to be upsetting anyone but the four survivors were simply a SWF on comms, something that is less frequent to most main DBD streamers who use PC rather than console.

The video simply showed how a team of survivors showing no skill/who didn't know how to loop simply communicate and run to the next gen only using 2 toolboxes, it shows how difficult it is for a decent player with a top tier killer.

BHVR have created then changed a game to where killers are at a huge disadvantage and only win if survivors make mistakes.

I don't mean to upset survivors how easy or killers with how impossible it is at the moment

  • On console you'd be lucky to find a lobby with 4 solos.

  • Comes down to little fun for whoever plays killer and what has happened to DC penalties?

With the majority of killers and survivors seeing more DCs from survivors, BHVR really don't do themselves any favours when people talk about their favouritism towards survivors

  • The dedicated servers affect game play which is wrong in my opinion they should only be monitoring and players computers gameplay be directly talking to each other otherwise it's like telling someone else you are vaulting a pallet who then tells the other player but to the other player they have already hit you before jumping the pallet.

The dedicated servers are needed but someone made a bad choice in using them for gameplay as this will never be perfect.

  • They tend to screening the questions and interview themselves.

External influences are on these message boards or on seeing the occasional YouTube where they have been challenged. Someone mentioned how flashlights were only nerfed once they played against survivors who made it hell for them.

  • Camping needs to be fixed?

You are a quarter of the team, suck it up waving your hands to let the rest know to do gens.

I was face camped doing a daily by the same player. The first one I killer myself as everyone just hovered around like vultures to unhook me so I liked myself. The second one came over despite me waving but then returned to gens, I tapped away on my hook until I died but by then must the gens were done

If you feed campers they keep doing it!

Do you people not know how the “power role” works? A member of the power role is meant to be so much more powerful than a member of the weak role to the point where the combined force of the multiple members of the weak role are equivalent to the singular force of the power role, assuming everyone is of equal skill. That’s what a “power role” is, and yes, that is what the Killer vs. Survivor match-up should be. Killers need to be the power role because if a Survivor is capable of 1v1ing a Killer of equal skill, then at that point, it’s just a team of 4 versus 1 guy.

There are quadruple the amount of Survivors in a match than there are Killers. By that rule, in order to be properly balanced, a Killer’s kit should be four times stronger than a Survivor’s kit. Otherwise, why would you ever play Killer when you can just play Survivor and have an automatic sheer advantage?

In short: Yes, Killers should be the power role. That’s how this works.

In regards to DBD being a horror game: Yes, I agree, it’s not scary. But the thing is, it’s supposed to be. It’s meant to be. It was designed by its makers to be. If they want it to be scary, then the Killers need to feel overwhelmingly imposing. Simple as.

    As for you, Scott...

”This game would be absolute trash if that's how every survivor felt. "Hey guys lets group and feel like a chew toy for 10 minutes, sounds great!"”

Bro, that is literally makes horror games fun. Let me repeat: THAT IS WHY PEOPLE PLAY HORROR GAMES. If people weren’t entertained by feeling like a chew toy, horror would not be nearly as popular a genre as it is. But not only is it popular; it’s oversaturated to a ridiculous degree because of just how much people adore the feeling of being scared from how defenseless they are.

If you don’t want to feel like a chew toy, that’s fine. Don’t play horror games. It’s simple.

A wonderful response of what a horror game is or at least this game should be aiming towards. However on the path dbd is taking I wouldn't be surprised if the survivors were able to kill the killer soon

He did not play "extremely well".

He made quite a few mistakes, some of them out of pure tilt "this survivor is CLEARLY disrespecting me personally by being unhooked so I'll eat the DS and throw 2 generators".

He didn't play poorly, but that was FAR from the best performance I've seen from him.

Erm... yes he did I didn't say perfect game but then perhaps your comment is just to muddy the point of the post

  • Hearing about Hag teleportation dedicated server issues now, why is that information passed not directly to computer to computer? Surely this is wrong, point to point is fastest not point to point to point each time

  • This is similar to the dead hard and how the Devs have got dedicated servers setup from the ground up wrong post

  • Otz played extremely well as usual but the survivors just kept holding m1 on the gens and regrouping onto the next gen when disturbed and most likely looking at it àn swf on comms.

Otz had never seen anything where he didn't get a chase/loop he was literally just downing them one after another but it didn't matter.

A survivor wasn't happy he was tunneled so sent abusive messages afterwards.

I've seen Otz stream and he isn't one of those gimmicky streamers, he analyses things like Tru3T but BHVR just don't care the only balance is the bank balance.

  • Match making should consider not just rank but minutes playing the game, if in a swf, etc but due to killers leaving the game or going on strike like I am the match making will never be sorted and more and more players will play the power role of survivor because everyone wants fun

  • Reading through that... Killers don't get second chance perks it seems then. Survivor perks are OP Devs know it and I know it especially as playing survivor now, the luxury of perks I can use I normal go for the most powerful 3 but don't abuse the free good like perk of swf Comms... except on Tuesdays
