So... after you brought up Alert last night I decided to try it out... It is AWESOME, lol. Getting a notification everytime a killer kicks a gen is EPIC in that I started screwing with killers by tapping gens as I go to make an unhook or something. Even if the gen is at 0.0001% done, for some reason Ive seen alot of em still take the time to kick it later on, and I get a little chuckle.
And you see every time the killer is in a chase with someone else because they break a pallet. And every time you drop a pallet you see whether the killer doubles back or which way they're going to react appropriately.
Also Billy and Nurse are great cos they telegraph where they're headed right after they kick a gen.
-
I don't think we need ANOTHER hillbilly, but holy ######### if they gave us Eliza Dushku as a survivor I would die of happiness.
-
Yeah, they've been getting better as they go on, but "The Hunger" is atrocious, as are most of "Blood, Brass and Grit."

Welcome to the party. Many others have already explained how Survive By Daylight works. Feel free to watch me get body blocked all game on Mixer right now.
Oh you have me mistaken with someone else, I'm not the one person who watches mixer.

Body blocking is listed under Gameplay Abuse. Tea bagging at the Exit Gates instead of just leaving is holding the game hostage and falls under Unsportsmanlike. You already knew that, though.
Bodyblocking which holds someone in a corner for an extended period of time preventing them from moving or participating in the game is bannable.
Getting between the killer and a hook, or the killer and a survivor they want to hit is part of the game, and is NOT reportable.
-
They'll rework the map but all the basic tiles and elements will still be there, it's just going to be different pallet spawns and probably 1/10th the amount of windows on each house.

Im pretty sure this would also gut Feng's popularity since her only "popular" perk is lithe...which isnt very popular.
I mean Alert is a good perk, but nobody's going to pick her for it when they can have 5 chase/second chance perks on Laurie and Bill.
-
You can already see the issue on Hawkins. The gates are set spawns over 20 seconds apart for an M1 killer. You shut the hatch and all they have to do it wait for the TR to fade for a free escape.
You can TRY to mindgame it but while you do they may just be at the other one opening it.
It should not be a coin flip if they get out once the hatch is shut, the hatch IS the coinflip, now it's meant to be the killer's favour.

So everyone has already said why this idea is bad but here is an alternative to your idea.
What if every character was allowed to use 1 perk from their own personal perks in addition to the 4?
For example: One of Dwight's personal perks is Bond so he can choose to use Bond and then use Open Handed, Kindred, Urban Evasion, and Spinechill. This build is for being stealthy and if you need heals you can find your buddy which you can find very easily and if you're on the hook everyone sees everyone. Bond isn't actually needed in this build but it's an example. Another example is that Hag starts with Ruin but then she can run an entire build free from the fear of not being able to use Ruin because she starts with it for free.
This idea wouldn't help every Killer as all of Demogorgon's perks suck(pretty embarrassing for a highly anticipated licensed character) but you get the idea and it could help a little bit in having a little more freedom for perk choices and make every Survivor unique instead of just being a skin.
It would just mean we'd no longer see most of the survivor cast. You'd have Lauries everywhere for DS or Bills for BT, or Meg for Adren, then it'd just be 5 perk builds with the same broken combinations.
-
~1000 bloodpoints in a category that's guaranteed not to be filled, why not?
-
Yeah he's so goddamn fast, especially on the Alchemist lore.
It's like he's completely ignoring all punctuation.
I'm here to listen to the lore and get engrossed in it, and that just doesn't happen when the person reading it sounds like they have a gun to their head and has been told "read this in one breath or you die."

Plague and Spirit.
Plague makes everyone loud and broken, Spirit demolishes them.

Lol at some of people cool with 30 minute wait times. "What's the harm?"
The harm would be people migrating to other games. For a healthy player base, it would probably make sense for players to actually find matches.
If you're hitting 30 minutes, you're obviously geared up in a way you KNOW is going to make people miserable. Why do you expect people to want to play with you?

Is it hurting anyone to dodge? A lot of Killers just want to have a casual game, not a tryhard mess.
Personally, I don't usually dodge. If I see four toolboxes, I'll bring Franklin's and some good add-ons, maybe a Ivory Mori.
I only dodge keys, I'm here to play a game, not half of one.

Im ok with 3 Survivors left using key with 1 Gen left. They already did a good job, further more its not like all 3 escape at once except SWF. Most of the time 2 left and there is still 1 stuck in the trial alone with EGC
Im ok with 2 Survivors left using key with 2 Gen left. They already did a good job. Its already at the game balance goal: 2 dead, 2 alive.
Im ok with 1 Survivor left using key with 3 Gen left. They already did something to have the last one alive.
Im NOT ok with 1 Survivor left with 5 Gen left by any mean.
The escape chance should be harder for the last Survivor the less Gen they're done. And the Easier the more Gen they're done.
That's the reverse of the reality. The killer is in the least control of the match the more gen are on the map. The issue with keys largely is that you take the point where killers are meant to have some form of control, like the last generator, and go "screw it, you got one kill so you lose!" That's seriously problematic.
-
No. Nobody uses the active so it's never going to destroy the key (which would take TEN hits) and nobody is dumb enough to forget where they got hit when carrying one.
The only REAL counter to a key is to tunnel the person who holds it and really hope they have the "don't lose the key on death" add on.
Plunderer's Instinct is what annoys me more of the time. It's basically 1 in 3 chance of getting a key each match, and the killer can have 0 way to prepare, see it coming, or even see the key before it's used to deny multiple kills.
-
Oop, time to race to that challenge before they change it.

In a perfect world, absolutely. Although people can (and do) use it to dodge lobbies, and that's not something we want to see return.
People wouldn't be dodging if the ranks weren't completely randomly assigned. Been playing solo survivor since the new challenges came out and I can't count the number of lobbies I've joined where I'm a solid ten ranks above the 3 other people who were already there.
Hiding the fact that the game is stacked against you until it's over isn't a solution, it's a cop out.

Everyone is complaining about them. They are too situational. Please fix em next time atleast. Like seriously? 2 unhooks during the collapse, Prevent a gate opening with Unnerving? That perk has nothing to do with gates AT ALL. The 4th Tome challenges are even worse too...
It's cos they needed a challenge for Trapper's third perk, but since the perk only makes people more likely to miss skill checks, and nobody ever misses skill checks because of it, it couldn't be "make survivors miss X skillchecks with Unnerving Presence" or nobody would ever get it done.
At least not opening a gate COULD happen because of too many missed checks on gens.

And if you wanna get real wacky make it to where you have to use specific perk related to healing.
It's a Claudette rift on the survivor side, it wouldn't be too extreme to ask for her 3 perks in tier 4, and 2/3 of them would greatly assist in the challenge anyway.
-
As Claudette Morel, heal each of the other 3 survivors once within a match.

@Boosted_Dwight said:
Yeah these Trapper charms are awful. It's the same charm but a little glossier. Same goes for Claudette's botany charm.
Yeah I'm really let down by the quality of them in particular. Surely this is the first tome which should be the point where they have the most ideas for charms, and it feels like half of them are unnoticibly different. I legitimately cannot tell by looking at them which of the plant ones is meant to be higher quality.
-
I think people are missing the point of OP's question entirely. It isn't "do I go for one person or do I chain hits?" it's "Once I've decided who I'm going for, is it better to cancel frenzy as soon as I hit them the first time, or catch up to them after the hit and cancel it right behind them?"
It's best to catch up, as you have less ground to cover because on the hit they sprint due to the injury, so you would have to make up that sprint at running speed not frenzy sprint speed.

Freddy Fazbear is a robot possessed by a dead child, Pennywise is a god. They are def not on equal power.
Ignoring that, A better killer from FNAF would be Springtrap since he was the original killer. I could see Springtrap joining willingly, but I can't see Pennywise doing so since he's so powerful already he doesn't need another gods help too kill people.
No, Freddy, the iconic killer known by generations from A Nightmare on Elm Street, not some crap toy.

I want fnaf, not because I think it would be good, but because it would make everyone mad and I find that funny too watch.
For me, the killer I don't want is Pennywise. Ignoring the argument of 2 clown killers, he's a god, so I find it very hard too believe he could be controlled like a puppet by the entity.
Not every killer is "a puppet." Freddy is on a similar level of power to Pennywise, I'd say, and proves to be basically unkillable over and over, yet chooses to be in the fog.
Clown has basically come in completely by choice to kill people. It's not as black and white.

I don't have any performance issues, but the vignette in the dreamworld doesn't loop properly for me and has a jarring flash when it gets to the end and restarts.

More "...do [action] XX times" and much, much less luck-based "do [action] X times in a single trial." That is all. And maybe spice it up a bit and make it more focused on the survivor/killer at the moment. You think Claudette is big on unhooking other folks when she doesn't even want to be around other folks? Nah. Think Trapper gets a killer chub during EGC? Nah. Though I think they did focus better on Trapper than Claudette this time. Way too much blinding and unhooking when her sole life is botanicals and healing.
It's unfortunate that all of Trapper's challenges are just "X traps" and we've only had "escape as Claudette" so far.
I enjoy that all of their perks have been represented in challenges now, though. This tome has been a bit altruism overload but that largely comes from healing and unhooking challenges ON TOP OF healing with Claudette's perks.
-
Mine just reads the first entity from "the hunger" as it was the last thing selected.
-
Ok, here's an experiment.
Go get a sibling, or a friend, or a parent if needs be. Give them a baseball bat.
Now stand directly on the other side of a waist-high fence, and tell them to try to smack you in the head with a baseball bat.
Then, explain to them how that's "super whack."
-
The idea's come up before and I still find it problematic.
Firstly, who does it impact the least/most? Killers who are incredibly strong regardless of perks like Nurse, Spirit, Billy and Freddy will remain at the peak of killers because most only really need one or two perks that synergise with them, like BBQ or Stridor. M1 killers on the other hand lose combinations like Enduring/Spirit Fury which would both be in the same category when combinations like these are what give them SOME semblance of competition with more mobile killers, or those that have alternative methods of dealing with pallets.
Second, does it really fix anything? BBQ is a detection perk. Ruin is stalling. Enduring or SF are chasing. NOED is none of the above. Nurse's Calling would conflict with BBQ but it's dropped off severely in use in the last year or so, or is used with injury/stall builds moreso than generic "4 meta" builds. On the survivor side, it would be a massive nerf overall because DS/BT/Adren/probably Unbreakable would all be classed as "extra hit" perks.
Third, what would be the outcome? Survivor players would see this as a massive hit and something like this would probably be enough to make a lot of people quit, if nearly all of their "builds" aren't just nerfed, but are unusable. It doesn't do anything to solve perks being really low value, it just forces you to bring some perks you don't like because it's that or nothing. Hell, you can't even use the combinations of perks you discuss as being interested in in your post, because they're all information tools that would conflict.
Overall, it's a nice concept, but it doesn't really make anything in the game better or healthier, and we're far too far down the rabbit hole to restrict perk choices like that without consequences.
-
You wait for next week when it's fixed.
-
I really think this is the sort of stuff the DC penalty WILL discourage.
Since it's immediate, people will be more likely to play out a match they don't particularly want to, and as it scales, smaller petty reasons will no longer be valid reasons for most people.
In the case of serial DCers over what they don't like, they at least have to cut down on what they consider worth it if one DC could mean a full day's ban since they DCed because someone was playing Trapper yesterday, etc.
-
Gonna be honest here, it's probably intentional.
You can see from the submenu that it's still registering as the most recently commented on:
https://i.imgur.com/k5oZTp8.pngYet the thread remains in page 2:
https://i.imgur.com/CWkFyji.pngLooking at the recent activity in the thread, it has probably been disabled from going back to the top because you HAVE been intentionally bumping it whenever it falls off. Hell, I have nothing against you, but half the comments from you in other threads are "go look at my Legion thread!"
We get it, you like Legion, you want Legion changed, and you have ideas. However, this is a community forum and not your personal blog. Everyone else's threads have as much right to be on the front page of a section as yours, especially when other people are not actively participating because they're sick of the same discussions about the same killer.
As yermom said, there's two clear rules on the forum that you're intentionally going against by bumping the thread repeatedly, and that's probably reason enough for them to prevent your thread from being bumped, and creating a third thread for the same thing isn't any better.

You're just naming killers who use knives now, and ghostface already has a dlc, so you telling me thats after releasing legion who from your view heavily inspired from ghostface, they released ghostface after? i'm asking you to evaluate legion(male/female) as a whole with his skills and then narrow down your list of potential adaptations
It's not one given thing, that's why I clearly stated "Legion is based on the archetype," in the same sense that Spirit borrows elements from many Japanese ghost girls like Kayako, but isn't based on any given one. They're original characters.
If you're going to demand one, then yes, Legion is majorly based on Scream, which has had 6 male and 3 female portrayers (which for some reason seems to be your defining factor of them) that I can remember. Their relentless pursuing nature, vicious and often multiple, non-lethal stabbings are iconic to the movies, and are largely present even so far back as the first scene with Drew Decker.
If anything the nature of their power is more reflective of Ghostface than GHOSTFACE'S, which makes sense as they don't actually have the rights to Scream to make him the exact character. Ghostface was always in Sidney's face and wanted attention. He watched his victims but he always played with his food, where our GF stalks and moves in for one solid blow that downs people.
So yes, they borrow from a lot of killers, many less memorable ones because they are based on a concept more than any one example, but no, they aren't the DBD dev's adaptation of a crappy photoshop with a paragraph of story.

Hate to say it but name other psycho killer who has similar rushdown style of attacking? Existed for decades? I don't recall any memorable killers tbh, and to have male/female version?
Mostly Ghostface, they came before we had him and are largely inspired by him. A memorable mask, the running style of attacking from the movies. (And the fact that it was designed by a dev team who was older than 12)
It's also something that's largely present in a lot of movies with more generic characters, like Rob Zombie ######### that's just filled with "murderer 1, 2 and 3," and tends to be more present in games with characters who chase more than jumpscare.
Hell you want multiple stabbings you can go all the way back to Psycho.

You know legion frank/Julie is debatable a spin-off of jeff/jane the killer right? Has the same characters always smiling, like to stab people and went full crazy when he is attacking similar to frenzy. I'm hoping for a jeff/jane the killer mask in the future for legion.
They've said on stream Legion is based on the archtype of the psycho killer rushdown style of attacking. It's something that's existed for decades before that stuff.

I've seen some people want Slenderman for some reason.
I don't see how a single bit of Slenderman could possibly fit into DBD. There's no found footage motive. Slenderman itself does not actually kill people, but just messes with people's minds and gets crap done through proxies and "infects" people with... something.
Slenderman doesn't even walk; just teleports everywhere. At worst, it transports people around and takes them... somewhere, usually for a while. It doesn't go around murdering people willy-nilly. If it did, it couldn't spread its infection.
Even Slenderman's map would be... what? Another Sheltered woods?
I think Slender could work if they based it more off the arrival game, have the player play as the chaser/proxy while Slender is a computer controlled entity moving around the map that harrasses survivors who look at him.
That said, I think the worst possible killers would be anything from FNAF, 95% because of the people that come with it, 5% because an entire franchise based on "It just fill your screen and REEEEEEs" isn't horror.
Close runner up to creepypastas and SCPs. I know this is contradictory cos of Slender, but that's really grown as an actual franchise more than any of the other... things.
-
Yeah maybe don't raise people's hopes, then ruin their weekend, then go "oh by the way give us awards for all the hard work!"
Legit, if they announced "Changes will come early next week" in the first place rather than promising Friday night and failing, again, I think they would've had so many people's votes.
-
I mean if you've played Slender: The Arrival, there's a few chapters of that that take place in daylight. "Homestead" still manages to be really creepy and it's set basically at sunset.
-
Yeah there's this whole big thing called "the rest of the world" who don't live in NA, so having a time zone in a post is always a good idea, especially when you're gonna run off valve time rather than a regular time zone. https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Valve_Time
-
Close the gap. When you hit them they do the injured sprint so if you end there there's a huge distance to make up. May as well make it up while you're fast(er) then stun when close.
-
None of the others were "hard" or a "challenge" in the first place. They were just long and boring.
-
Keys and moris should both be nerfed, they both cut the game short and deny the other team huge amounts of points and pips for no effort.
Keys at least have the aura reading ability that could be severely improved to compensate for a massive nerf to their hatch opening (like limit the number of escapes before it shuts)

I'm fine with the buying the whole outfit gives you a discount it's incentive to actually buy the outfit.
That's fine for the most part where all outfits are 10% cheaper than the individual parts, but when they have a sale that makes outfits 30% off total, would it really hurt to make the individual parts 20% off each?
-
You're also playing these at a time where survivors are full suiciding to get borrowed time saves, I really wouldn't put much stock in game results right now.
-
I agree with your point that certain challenges (lots of unhooks, lots of emblems, lots of healing, lots of breaking, lots of basement hooks) would be much more acceptable if they were able to progress alongside other challenges. The fact that 25 unhooks is 10+ matches if you're lucky and then from there you still have a tonne of grindy survivor challenges is ######### ridiculous.
On the other hand, not all challenges are solved by this, and most of all, many of these are not "challenges" but as others have stated are merely test of absolute luck.
You nearly NEVER get unhooks in the end game, and when you do, almost certainly you or the person you unhooked go down fast. If not both of you tend to get to the gate and that's that.
Expecting MOST of the community to be able to do that "dice roll," not a challenge, is not even in the same league as "kill 2 people in the EGC" which you as the killer at least moderately dictate the terms on.
Edit: and yes, I play both sides just like you, and you'll notice my chart looks very similar to yours https://i.imgur.com/KrEBxUn.jpg despite having spent nearly double the time I spent on survivor as I did killer so far. These survivor challenges are insane, and to say all of these are ok, just because you did the FAR easier killer side, is ludicrous.
