I mean that's true, I know a prestige 30 who is.. (not saying anything but..) but for the most part high prestige players typically means a higher skill level, so wouldn't it be good to know who you're up against or with.
No it would not be good. Lobby dodging and shopping is one of the reasons MMR is not as accurate as it could be since the system has the priority of shorter queue times over similar skill level. As a killer it’s unfair to get information from the survivors prior to the game and get an pre-game strategy based on that, and as a solo/non premade survivor it’s unfair for those who get dodged for looking like babies or whatever. Going into the trial fully blind is the best for the sake of queue times and better match making.

Unfortunately, the killer can stand in the middle of a door and prevent any survivor from passing
Can they on this new one tho? I think it’s too wide. Looks a bit wider than basement entrance. Didn’t get to try it because the scenario didn’t happen in that match.

What's the point of hiding prestige? I thought it was a good thing to know the skill level of other players?
Prestige doesn’t equal skill. Solely for this misconception of it, it’s good that they will hide it soon. It conditions players when the point of it was never that.
-
Also Xeno should not be able to come out from a tunnel a survivor picked up a turret from. It takes so long to place the turret down or drop it, and Xeno comes out so fast. Don’t have time to run either with it because survivors can’t run while a turret is being held. 3-5 seconds of the tunnel exit being blocked for Xeno when a survivor picks up a turret there should be enough imo.

Prestige targeting isn't a real thing. People either dodge high prestiges or don't care.
Sure thing mate. That’s why I have gotten “nice p100” after getting hard focused and moried in scoreboard chat and if you search on youtube you can see plenty of videos surrounding p100 lobbies and can see how seeing that in the lobby conditions how they’ll play during the match. Your experience might not be everybody else’s, remember always that :). Also, lobby dodging is meant to be prevented with this new feature. Both sides should not get any information about the enemy side before the game, killers could just see the survivors for the gimmick of them (killer) stalking the survivors at the campfire and that’s it.

I’m so glad this is being implemented as a P100 Steve main I refused to switch bc killers/survivor were jerks to me, I just took it. I’m glad this will help me not feel harassed, I had a killer purposely not play the game only brought rancor and game a foot to make me the obsession to kill me at the end specifically for P100, didn’t play all game just waited til last gen as by default I was the obsession. It’s not a fun experience I had hoped the reason for being targeted for rancor was not bc P100 but I was wrong. I’ve been called names bc I don’t meet the expectation of being a P100, you know the kind that sweats every game or never has an off game lmao please this change is long over due.
Don’t worry Chibi, most of us with p100 survivors can relate to what you said. This hidden prestige feature will definitely do wonders to EVERYONE: p100 survivors can play naturally and regularly without concerns of getting targeted due to the prestige level they have and people who are worried of facing p100 survivors will realize that they can beat p100 survivors the same way they can beat p3 survivors, or also lose the same way if they lobby shop the other way around, because it’s just a number! Huge W and can’t wait for everyone to get this feature!
-
I reported this yesterday to the support team because I believe this might be a bug! Hopefully. It had 0 counter play if it wasn’t and it’d be very odd.

Im still seeing prestige, strange, no need to hide prestige tbh
Read what the dev said in the comments. It’s something being tested among some players only to get feedback and check how impactful it is, etc. And there is need to hide prestige, you can read the reason why here in the comments section from people who have found themselves being targeted in some way or another due to prestige, or have been dodged often.

Thanks everyone for the discussion around this - it's super useful to see all your feedback and ideas <3
keep 'em coming!
Again, thank you lots Mandy! Feeling comfortable playing whatever survivor I want to play regardless of their prestige is something I’ve wanted for so long. Looking forward to what the “player cards” mentioned during the Anniversary stream will be like, the idea got me so curious!

I no theres not as much point for killer to hide prestige just a random thought is killer having the same choice to hide prestige?
This feature is only for pre-game lobbies. I could still see the prestige of everyone during scoreboard chat. It’s a tool to prevent dodging lobbies for both sides basically.

It's not. The solution is quite simple with an fair MMR. I have somewhere 70+ hours and every match with an SWF or at least 2 p50+ is an definitely lose. How should this be motivating a new player if 70% of the player base is far beyond our experience and skill.
And yes i dodge those lobbies bcs every single time these people are flashlighters/body blocker's/hacker/bully squads.
I surely believe you mate, I’m so sure. Have a nice day!
-
@Yodakhiin said:
So new players get stunned by p100... That's ridiculous..
But experienced players lobby dodging and shopping is not stupid to you? This happens on both sides, and now if this goes live it will stop it. Pre-game targeting needed to stop, and seeing this new feature is amazing.

Prestige does mean skill, as i told earlier, and is just pure logic. More prestige = more hours spent playing = more skill, i don't know why people keep denying that.
Also the people who went into lv 100 because anniversary event, are just a minority. Probably not even a 3% of the P100 population are because of the event.
You are so wrong I am so sorry. If I play my p100 Ada I am still the same player when I play my p3 Jeff. Not better, not worse. That’d mean now all Ellens are babies because everybody has her low prestige. It’s such an awful and naive take and I hope you drop that mindset that is most likely holding you back from enjoying the game more! Best of luck.

First of all, great change.
Second, is more planned in this direction? The plan is most likely to reduce Lobbydodging so that Backfill-Lobbies are not as frequently as they currently are.
Like removing the profiles and names from Survivors in the Lobby? Sure, they can be made private, but not everybody wants that and I think it is neat to see in Postgame Lobby who you played against. But in pregame-Lobby it leads to dodging and gameplay-wise there is 0 reason why the Killer should get this information (e.g. hours played).
I agree with this! There are killers that go out of their way to even check if the people from the lobby have each other added on Steam as friends to know if they're swfing, etc. (legit have even seen certain streamers doing this, and it's really obsessive from my point of view.) Any tool to prevent lobby dodging and having a mindset for the match just by seeing the lobby should be implemented. It needs to stop!
-
@albertoplus said:
For me its fine if they want to hide it, just give me a slider of something that goes from my level to lv 100, so i can chose to not play vs people higher than my level.
Then yeah i will be fine if they hide prestige levels.
What are you saying with that? Like it literally makes no sense, sorry. Prestige doesn't equal skill. Period. Just play the game and you will realize how much you slow yourself from enjoying it because you have a lot pre-judging mindset. Try to have fun, you will surprise yourself a lot!
-
@Phantom_ said:
If they implement it the whole concept of 'prestiging' would lose its meaning and appeal. Why would anyone P100 any character then? Considering the fact that you're not getting anything skins/charm-related out of P100-ing anyway.
You can still see it at the end of the game, so the point remains there.
-
@albertoplus said:
The fun fact is someone did a reddit post that debunked the "prestige doesn't mean skill" and showed that the higer the prestige, the better the survivor was. Of course there were some cases where the survivor were not that good and that, but on most of the cases, the higher prestige players played much, much better than the lower ones.
But anyways there didnt really need to be anything to debunk. More prestige = more BP spent = more hours spent in the game.
Unless you say you are absolutely bad at the game and still have P100, which proves this point even further. If you are bad what do you mean? That you get pretty low BP on every game? Then the hours you have at the game are insanely high.
So yeah, even when people dont want to admit it, its just logic. More prestige = more skill.
There are people with little higher than 100 hours with at least 1 prestige 100 because we just went through a whole anniversary event. Everybody at this point has a p100 character if they play slightly consistently yet it's so easy to see these players being pre-judged just from the lobby, same as seeing a low prestige character like for example Meg, Feng or Leon (as example of characters people usually think that have "lower skilled" players or are more "babies"). Anything that stops lobby shopping should be pushed, it's so dull seeing people dodging lobbies left and right.
-
@Unfunny_Clown said:
Why do people obsess over prestige? it doesn't translate into skill all the times,,, the only sure thing about a high prestige survivor is that they have lots of bloodpoints spent on them lol
Right? Like it's so weird how people treat high prestiged characters like if they had some bonus or advantage in the game. My p100 Ada does gens as fast as my p9 Laurie, and both loop the same way. It's just dumb!

@Mandy said:
Can confirm that this is not a bug. We are conducting some ongoing tests with some players, and we're always looking to improve the player experience within the game. We will be monitoring the feedback closely on this.
Honestly love it so much and it's something a lot of people have been waiting for ever since the new prestige system was implemented. It's sad that a lot of people use prestige as a tool for targeting and harass instead of the point of it: to show your love and dedication to a character harmlessly. Maybe some option to hide it for those who want and to show it for those who prefer to show it could be implemented maybe? Kinda like the anon mode option. Props to the team Mandy!

Agree! I want to think that it's either an error/mistake and only some people get it earlier than expected, or it's a test to see the reaction or if it affects the gameplay. Hope they say something soon!
-
I believe the tail hit will get nerfed to get a clear warning. Previously, this was an issue with Deathslinger and they changed it, so I believe and hope this will follow the same path.
-
@Annso_x said:
It's weird some people have it but not others, maybe it's a platform thing ? In any case, I hope it becomes and stays like that for all players.
I think it's either a test or an early release by mistake! Since around the anniversary there was a feature some people got and others still didn't (I didn't yet, for example). Your build is displayed on the right of the screen at all times in the lobby, and your own character name and prestige is displayed on top of the screen, not only when you have the bloodweb open. I think it's another case of the same kind of feature being not for everybody yet.

The entire point of a Killer skin is to be purely cosmetic, there's no reason why they couldn't maintain her lobby size and make the hitboxes more generous in favor of gameplay. This game is pretty outdated the way it is, some clipping here and there is completely passable.
It would be hell for readability. It would feel awful to play against, and probably as as well. Again, the skin is awesome as it is. This happens in every game and it's for the sake of gameplay and comfort.
-
@Pavel_Ch said:
if it's implemented, I can uninstall the game. Hide prestige is the most important thing to do (no)
Well bye then, honestly. This is such a good feature. Lobby shopping is such an issue on both sides, and this solves it directly.

My friends I was playing with didn't get it, so I was wondering. Then it definitely has to be a feature only some people got first! Thank God, because I've been asking for something like this months. Hope everybody gets it with a feature update + the feature to see the builds on the right.
-
Same! Since it barely has a cooldown at all, it should at least give clear warning that it's about to be used. Too fast for not having any cooldown at all.
-
@Lyn said:
Has there been any comment from BHVR about this? I was only willing to pay $15 for a legendary skin of basically the same character because I believed they were much larger.
I feel very mislead paying that much and being given a different look than what was in the store. I don't see why we shouldn't be able to use the larger size because as everyone said it is strictly a disadvantage if anything. :/
You could literally fully block corridors and the basement. Please, let's be serious for 2 seconds. The skin is amazing as is.
-
It's the point of getting in all fours. It's like when Pig crouches... She is obviously going to have a lower height POV.

Then why advertise it as such? This is the first instance I have seen of a cosmetic being different in the lobby than in game, many people have likely purchased Xenomorph Queen because they thought they would get to play as her at full size as she is shown when hovering over her in the store.
I just can't believe you are being serious right now, I am sorry.
-
I honestly can't tell if y'all are baiting or actually mean what is being said. Nobody thought the killer would be as massive as she looks like in the lobby, like she literally would not fit in the basement nor corridors. I refuse to believe anybody truly thought the size would be that big in-game LMAO. So unserious.

Sure, but killer DC ends the whole game/ everyone alive escapes and survivors still get their BP, they don’t necessarily need a bot. Entire BP loss is already a punishment for both killers and survivors. Killer DC actually ends a game, survivor DC doesn’t. Maybe take away the increasing penalty ban for killers.
That's even proving my point and reforcing it, because if killers get no penalty for dcing, they will dc every game against the bare minimum even more commonly. 1 gen pops too fast for their liking? DC. Notice perks they don't like? DC. And so on. Most of the games would not past the 2 minutes mark. Terrible idea to try to remove the DC penalty currently.
-
There are no killer bots and probably would be a hell to program them for every single character in the game, so since they can't dc for free with a replacement, it's fair that survivors also can't do it. Solely for that, it's more than understandable why DC penalty needs to stay.
-
That's the point of sloppy butcher and hemorrhage in general. Since MFT is meta, so is that.
-
The PTB music was just as bad as that one they tried to give Ghostface long time ago. Thank GOD they changed it.

Two things most players don't know about Skull Merchant that could help with counter play:
→ drones can be held hostage (ie. hack a drone, but don't enter last promt): this disables drone in all aspects, and doesn't count as an arm trap yet. You can hold it until you see skull merchant approach, then enter last prompt, turn it to arm trap and run away. Other surv can work on a gen under a drone held hostage without detection/expose/addon effect.
→ survivers doesn't need to wait until drones go into scan mode to hack them. 10 seconds after skull merchant deploys/activates drone, it become hackable while in expose mode. I see alot of survs wait around for scan mode. When the "woosh effect" aroud a drone dissapears, even if it's active you can run in and hack. The moment you start hacking,, expose meter and killer instincts stop.
I know it's not much, but in some games it can make a difference.
ps> I am a Skull Merchant main, but I stopped playing her until her rework. Wins don't feel earned with 3 gen strat, and other ways of playing her isn't viable.
I know these strats, tha’s how I beat her when I play in a 4 man SWF. In solo it’s impossible to pull off, the level of coordination can only be achieved through coms, and even like that it takes up to 50 minutes.
I also stopped playing her until her rework in a way to protest and leave the stats just to the 3 genning ones so the problem shows itself better in the data.
-
@Caiman said:
It's one thing for Skull Merchant to guard a 3-gen, because her power is very effective it. I don't understand why they're also so obsessed with slugging, though. At this point Skull Merchant has the worst reputation of any killer in the game because not only is her power a completely design failure and her character a load of nonsense, even the people who play her are turning out to be extremely harmful to the game experience. At least Nurses and Blights kill you quickly without wasting time.
It’s because a high majority of people with these players just do it to try to spite the rest of the players and be as annoying as possible. I got score board chats where they state it. And I agree, I’d rather take a game against a 1000 win streak Nurse or Blight, be done in 2 minutes and just go next.

Yeah, and they should at least have more than 4 characters in a single row.
I think that that’s so the lobby doesn’t get fully covered + the game’s dynamic with the number 4. Not a big deal to me, but need the folders (favorites, order by highest prestige, etc.)
-
@Gandor said:
For the people without buckle up is pretty mediocre perk.
Like it's not as bad as say dark theory, but there's a reason why the usage rate more then tripled for a time after buckle up buff/rework. If you remove this interaction (and those 2 are a little too strong sometimes - I agree with this one), then FTP will again get to it's forgotten perks place.
Instead to make the interaction more fair - make it so buckle up can be applied only 3s after someone is downed (slightly nerf the stronger perk out of those 2 with specific OP interaction it provides).
For the people is a great perk on its own and can provide a lot of value and be a game changer (saving a tunneled team mate, quickly countering a slug play from the killer, etc.), but it’s another case of “why would I run this perk when I can run just something else that is less situational and doesn’t require others” especially in solos. FTP shines more also in coordinated teams, which just isn’t the majority of the cases.
-
It’s sad to see both hexes and boons metas got out of the way and now totems are just there not serving any purpose in most games. I hope and wish they can find some interesting mechanic to work with them, because totems perks are good and healthy side quests for both sides in my opinion, but with how weak and/or situational most of these perks got people rightfully don’t even bother using them anymore. The last hex perk we got, and was actually an interesting one was the screaming one from Knight, almost a year ago, and boon was Dark Theory from Yoichi almost 2 years ago already and it’s the most niche of all 4 boons currently in the game. Hope all totem perks receive buffs and make games more interesting!
-
@DrKetchup said:
Destroying a Hex should diminish the effect instead of completely removing it.
For example "destroyed Ruin: gens regress at 50%" speed. You would still have the auto-regression, but at an extremely slow rate and you will be unable to use gen kick perks.
Not all hexes could have some effect like this tho, especially the ones that work with stacks. Would be hell to find the sweet spot.
-
@DrKetchup said:
On the second 30 of the lobby timer, an SWF indicator should appear above the corresponding survivors, leaving the lobby at that point would incur a DC penalty.
Is it really that serious? 😭
-
At this point we are starting to need a search bar for characters lmao.
Hoping for a favorites tab, or order by prestige level for example.
-
This would be a better matchmaking system than MMR actually. Killers would face more variety of survivors removing MMR and survivors would not get exhausted from playing against the same 2 or 3 killers every game and would improve their game sense overall (to this day there are people that don’t know hag’s traps can be wiped out because they barely went against her for example.)

The "Seeing swf in lobby would kill DbD because everyone will dodge" is a blatant lie that im surprised people are still using, as other games are here that let you know if you are against a premade group of teams and they are still healthy.
Swap those numbers you have and they are probably much more close to the truth. Out of 100 killers, 93 of them would probably chose to play the game and 7 would dodge. That would be closer to reality.
Games that let you know you are going against a premade are team vs team games, where it’s fair since both sides are multi player and not solo vs team games. You can’t implement that feature in a 4v1 game and expect it to succeed. Horrible, terrible and naive idea to think that it would do more good than harm to DbD.
-
This would be too messy, I personally don't see it. Just run the 4 perks you want regardless, who cares? I don't think it's practical at all and nobody needs a reward for using something that is "non meta", and more people would whine and cry about perks being OP mimimi this mimimi that, "top 10 isn't enough, there are strong perks until top 50" blablabla. Would just make the community even more bitter in my opinion, sorry.

Playing on a strategic position three gen may not be fun for some survivors but anyway I look for own my fun and win the games bruh.
I'm going to be honest SWF shouldn't exist in the game but this not commercially healthy for the game for this reason the killer deserves to know who players are on SWF together to devise strategies.

You know what else isn't a fix to anything? Removing something because some people use it in ways you don't like.
I don't see anyone advocating for killswitching hatch and gate perks because some survivors use them to stealth out forever for the end game. And if you aren't going to advocate for that or for killswitching anything else people don't like such as Nurse, Blight, Twins, Pinhead, MFT+Hope, Toolboxes, etc.(the list goes on forever lol) then I see no reason whatsoever to take this suggestion seriously.
You clearly didn’t even bother reading the comments where I talk about that survivor strategy so I am not going to bother reading any of your next comments and will ignore your profile. Have a nice day!
