Guessing isn't a counter. It's the same reason Spirit needs a tell.

But killers guess at loops all the time so does that mean looping has no counter?

Notice how someone like Bronx 4k's with DemoPls on a near constant basis (when he doesn't it's usually map related, like Ormond etc), and he's 100% of the time at rank 1 (even though, ranks mean jack diddly). He has the timings for shred down perfectly, to an absolute science, as well as how and where to place his buttholes.

Again - it's the players playing Demo well, not demo sucking. He's not the top tier killer in the game, sure. But he's not bad. It's mostly the players who are bad with him.

Yes and i have seen him get destroyed to. It is all down to how boosted his survivors are as he himself keeps mentioning calling them "doofs"

I got a 4k in red ranks with trapper, does that mean he is A tier?

  • @ALostPuppy said:

It's not the same thing as Demo. First thing he's actually slower than the survivor, or around the same speed with rat liver so if he is using M2 he's likely not getting any closer to you. Second thing is that if Demo does it at a pallet at least he EATS THE PALLET AND DOESN'T HIT YOU FOR FREE. If Demo fakes out his shred at a pallet you can usually get an extra loop out of it depending on where you are. Pyramid head literally doesn't care because he moves faster in his power than the survivor and recovers immediately. You don't drop the pallet he catches up and hits you, you drop it and you get hit by his ranged attack. Amazing.

Also yes, in the grand scheme of things pyramid head is "fine" but is he fun? To play and play against? Why are you ok with killers being "fine" instead of wanting BHVR to do something to make these killers actually fun and not ridiculously unbalanced? (I.e having good chase ability but horrendous map pressure, something slinger also suffers from)

Notice how Demogorgon is exceptionally rare to see above green ranks? I wonder why 🤔

Fun for YOU may not be fun for someone else.

    whoops Xd

  • @FearlessHunter said:

I feel like the hitbox on his power is quite large at times. There will be times I'm not standing in the trail when it lights up for a second and I somehow still get hit despite me being beside it or far in front of it. (Green ping btw)

That is from a killer using a VPN or live far away from the server. I have had survivors standing on the border lines of ROJ and not take damage because my ping is 20 to 30 while they are all 60+

I had a game as huntress where i was put on a server with 100 ping and it was the easiest game of my life. Zero effort to land hatchets and people think 100-150 ping is "fine" pfft

He puts you in deep wounds - meaning that unlike being normally injured, you're literally useless and can't do anything until you mend. May as well be down at that point. He can also harpoon you from outside his terror radius.

Again - free, no-skill zoning is a big nope. If you need that, that's on you and your skill, or lack there of as a killer.

Where is the skill in doing this?

    wwwwwwAwwwwwwwwDwwAwwwwwwwwDAwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwDAwDwwwwwwwwwwwADwDwwwwwDwwwDAwwww

to avoid his shot if you force him to stay aimed and walk slowly or take a slowdown penalty? because that is literally all it takes to avoid the spear if you are not close to him

  • Don't worry. If the dev's ever get mmr to work take some solace in the fact that swf will face nothing but spirit and nurse and you will get some more chill survivors on the other killers.

Well... it will be that way until the devs gut spirit and nurse because FUN trumps balance.

  • Isn't the point of this thread that EAC does literally nothing but keep honest people honest?

The game needs an anti cheat that actually gets updates to fight cheaters. Not have the community be the anti cheat and go out of their way to record, upload and get the steam id for every single instance.

Recording can't prove they are using wall hacks or giving themselves a small boost every time they round a corner. It only shows the blatant or "rage" cheaters who literally don't care if they are caught.

  • He also sucks on pc when survivors figure out a slight arc or a tree counter his rush.

  • How do you feel about her when all 4 survivors have dead hard?

It triggers me to much when i predict their movements but they just press E to outplay and get a second chance..

my swf group i typically play with we got three killers and two maps that if they show up the match instantly turns into a race to die match for us as that is more fun trying to be the first to die then it is to try and stay alive and escape. and we sandbag each other just to try to be the first dead. how ever if last alive gets the hatch they win ultimately. unfun killers to my group are the ones that don't allow us to have chases or just break mechanics that prevent interesting chases. as we all enjoy the chase aspect of the game not the generator repairs.

Chases are all well and good if the rest of your team is sitting back and twiddling their thumbs.

"Owie I aimed my gun and I need to stay still for a few seconds.

Oh it would be a bad idea to aim again after aiming and not having a clear shot.

Meh... I dunno shouldn't aim again"

    -Caleb according to this guy.

If they add a slowdown to his ads it will kill him. It will just be like huntress where survivors spaz out when she readies her hatchet, only the hitbox on the spear is tiny and easy to miss at the slightest twitch.

Why should survivors be safe from DS if he is 2 feet behind them and they are near a pallet? If he is far away then go the long way around and dodge or predict the spear.

Bro stretch isnt cheating ussylis made a whole clip about it. It only shows you more terrain not the killer.

Tell that to the dev's who are looking into a way to patch it out of the game.

  • @xerav said:

If devs would nerf based on Killrate then Hag would have been nerfed a long time ago (she was always leading the charts with Kills).

True but there is no outcry for nerfs because people don't see her enough to complain. The more a killer is played, the more people are exposed to them and the more irritated they get.

  • @xenotimebong said:

A lot of people don’t like playing against DS. I really doubt it’s some concerted effort to get him nerfed, and you can’t argue them out of feeling that way, they just don’t like him and don’t want to play against him so they’d rather forfeit and play a different match.

Yeah but the devs are hell bent on ignoring context and just look at raw stats.

"Against good survivors he loses" is something you can say about LITERALLY EVERY KILLER IN THE GAME. Doesn't mean there isn't an imbalance at other levels of skill. I play slinger a lot too and believe me nothing I've learned playing as him has translated to playing better against a good one. The only thing I've noticed is that bad DS players will constantly try to pop-shot at corners you're about to go around almost all the time, which is the easiest thing in the world to bait out. But that's it. Any other situation and they simply missed, I didn't juke the shot it was the slinger that made a mistake. Good slingers don't make those mistakes almost ever which leads to 10 second chases that the survivor has 0 control over.

Why are we balancing the game around new rank 20 players?

  • @MrLimonka said:

Survivor meta will change when camping and tunneling is not a thing. Period.

No it won't. why would they give up a possible extra hook state and 3 chances to be hit just because the killer got made even weaker?

  • @ClickyClicky said:

When you say farm did they have BT?

To date I haven’t seen a single DeathSlinger ever not proxy camp and tunnel. Not a single one since he came out in February. I’d remember because with Ghostface I’ve at least seen 3, maybe 4 over the past year and its so rare its easy to remember, but with Dudslinger it hasn’t happened once yet. Hes pretty well known for camping, maybe that has something to do with it?

Or maybe they’re in the crowd that hates his power and just wants the game over.

I am aiming for the highest bp i can get because i am farming bp for blight with him so my goal is to hook all 4 and get a 30k game. I am not camping and i don't want to camp or care about pips since lower rank = more bp for me.

Survivors are literally just standing there pointing at a hook and just swarming for points or dc.

No you dont get it, neither i have the feeling you are even trying to understand it. It is essential that survivors can show their skill and so is it for killer. If you leave it to one side alone who wins a chase, its totally uninteresting.

We already have that with the f tier killers so...

  • @IamFran said:

I don't DC against him but he is definitely not fun to play against and I perfectly understand why some people don't want to play against him.

He is like an easy version of the huntress, deny the low profile loops, his terror radious is tiny and the ppl who play him usually run Monitor&Abuse which reduce even more the terror radious, can shot you easily outside his terror radious if you are not constantly aware and sometimes he is on you and get an easy hit or catch you with the harpoon easily.

The only problem i have with him is when a killer from china uses their VPN. I normally run spinechill so hit terror radius is not an issue and it takes him a loooooong looooong time to catch up.

I know survivors don't want to drop one of their multiple second chances but they do have the answer to him.

  • @xEa said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1629677#Comment_1629677

Why do they need safety? Thats a very odd question my friend. Because it is essential for the game. What pointless mess would it be without the option for survivors to be safe? Thats why people think Nurse Pyramid Head and Deathslinger are unfun to go against. Because there is little you can do as survivor, and i already wrote in detail why that is.

But it is not essential for the killer to have any input other than run counter clockwise and break the pallet. ok i get it, replace the killers with bots.

If you give ds a cooldown on canceling his aim or a wind up to shooting, survivors will just enter spaz out mode like they do to huntress. The difference is Huntress has truck sized hatchets while ds has a pin sized harpoon that is easy to miss when a survivor reacts.

  • @xEa said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1629590#Comment_1629590

Well.. thats a good question and i think you are not totally wrong with your assumption but also not right :D. Lets talk about counterplay for a second. This might read a bit complicated, so better read carefully :P

Lets use for example a loop with a pallet. When the survivor manages to reach the pallet, he is temporary safe - he achieved his safty. The killer failed to catch him before he can reach the loop. But the killer had a fair chance to get the survivor before the loop.

So now lets say the surviivor managed to reach his safe place, most killer can challange this safty i talk about. Hillbilly, Huntress, Demogorgon, Blght, Trapper, etc.. all have that in some form. But against all those killers, the survivor has some sort of play and a choice when he is at his safe spot. It is usually in the survivors hand if he gets caught by a billy when he stays at his SAFE spot (the pallet, the loop).

So far, the ballance is fine. The killer had the chance to get the survivor before he reaches the safe spot without any chance of the survivor to defend himself. And then he had the chance that the survivor does a mistake when he is at his safe spot.

Now, lets assume this is not the case. Lets talk about when there is no real safe spot for survivor. Nurse and Spirit dont have any advantage before you reach the safe spot as survivor, but they have full control when the survivor is at his safe place.

What Nurse makes her broken at a "safe place", makes Deathslinger broken when not beeing at a pallet. He can zone the survivor from his needed safe Haven.

Pyramid Head has the same as Deathslinger more or less, he makes everything unsafe. Running to the loop is unsafe, beeing at the loop is unsafe, droping the pallet is double unsafe.

Both PH and Deathslinger have the ability to simply deny the safe spot at all. They have free zone potential with faking the ability during chase. The notorious "get hit or get hit" situation with both of those killers when running to the safe spot make them so unfun to play against.

Why should a survivor be safe?

Why are loops with NO COUNTERPLAY FOR THE KILLER good, when breaking the pallet basically guarantees you reach the next loop with the way these maps have been designed?

  • @BabyCameron10 said:

This, this is why survivors end up running the crutches perks and play scummy towards the killer. This can’t be compared to keys (unpopular opinion btw). Yes, they are both very strong but the killer can just do this and get you out of the game. For a key to come in play, the survivors have to do their objective, gens. The amount of Moris I have been seeing recently is truly disgusting (not sure why). Maybe, this is one the reasons why players don’t play this game for very long, this is not fun.

Moris really don’t deserve a rework, they deserve to be removed from the game. The same thing can be said about keys. Both are really unhealthy for the game as both make the game end faster than intended and are probably the most unbalanced thing in the game at the moment. If you really want these things to stay in the game, you are probably not a good player yourself.

    https://youtu.be/-iO6oaJ9UtY

(Don’t bully me for running 2 exhaustion perks, I have nothing on Cheryl :))

A mori nerf has been announced by the devs so people are using them up before they are basically deleted.

I have been seeing a hell of allot of keys as well. Mostly console survivors bring them.

It seems a killer is only fun when you can run circles with him... Well, a killer is only fun when you have a good chase with counterplay. I am not part of Scotts Army but he is absolitly right what he said about that. Survivors want to use their skill and experience..

Is this really so hard to understand? Also.. dont blame the people, blame the devs for how little they gave survivors to work with.

Everyone keeps saying "counterplay" From what i can tell this means that the survivor must be at fault regardless of the killers skill. I have even heard that some people say that there should be enough "counterplay" that a DS with aimbot can miss.

Huntress is heavily map dependent and also got obliterated in the tournament.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1629549#Comment_1629549

I dont know man, i play R1 all the time and i have no issues to win with every killer. Sure you also loose games and sometimes you even get destroyed, but you are not supposed to win every game - there is way 2 much RNG in the game that this is even possible.

So you think long chases are not fun or exciting and thats the reason why you pick a killer who can end a chase instantly? You do it because you want to have control i assume? Gottcha, i think we are just very different persons and we define fun overall different. I guess thats also the reason why you see them as depip killer without thinking twice and i improved and 4K even the strongest teams with them now. I am not blaming you, not everybody can be that determinated then i am, but let me tell you, you are able to win even with bad killers against the REAL R1 teams.

And talking about real R1 Survivor... There are maybe 5 out there, and when i play killer, its down to 4, so you are very unlucky when you run into the same 4 players over and over again.

    Different regions produce different survivors.

  • @xEa said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1629516#Comment_1629516

Are they? I play almost every killer beside Spirit, Deathslinger and PH :D I want to earn my victory, i want to outplay my opponents, i want LONG and FUN chases, i want a challange. Because i think thats the point of the game.. right? Thats how i define fun.

So i dont think your statement is true, but i try to answer anyway like it would be true: Because they are lacy. And because they want to be powerful and have full control of the chase.

Now answer my question: Why are they even playing the game when they want the most fun part (chase) redused to a minimum with almost no counterplay?

It is like a fisher would fish out of a small barrel. Yea... they get the fish, but whats the point of that?

I play them to but do i expect to win going into the match? Nope. I play the old killers with the full expectation to lose and see them as de-ranking killers.

If you want LONG and "FUN" chases at r1 with true r1 survivors, not the boosted rank 20s. Then expect only a single "LONG and "FUN"" chase.

There is nothing fun about chasing a survivor around a tile that you know there is no counter to, especially when many of the survivors are using stretched res to remove what little mindgame there is.

Does nobody realize that in the vid scott made about how to counter looping, he chased jendenice for 1 minute while "countering" the loops? In his own vid showing how to beat looping he just lost 3 gens from one chase!

  • @xEa said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/192790/deathslinger-kill-stat-inflation

Playing against Deathslinger is really unfun, just like versus the old Legion.

I play a lot of solo survivor and there are people who DC or kill themself when they see Deathslinger or Spirit. Of course that makes the game a lot harder for the rest of us, but can we really blame them? They came to play a decent, maybe even fun game and then they get a Deathslinger, Spirit or Pyramid Head... just great.

Its like going into a restaurant, ordering your favourite meal and then you get served a plate with a big pile of elephantshit. I would not like to swollow that either, would you?

    Answer this for me.

Why are people only playing these killers?

  • If DS is directly behind you with no obstacles then you deserve to be speared. If you give a counter to being shot out in the open then what is the point?

I already know what survivors want. A big roar with a wind up to the shot so they can awdasdawdasdawdasdawdasdawdad and swish their mouse like they do to Billy with a massive cd for canceling the aim.

The dev's may as well delete him or make the shot insta down.

  • @SloppyKnockout said:

While I agree that can happen to an extent (I truly believe people do this with Freddy, either that or they are just really bad because he is easy to loop), I don't think people did that with Nurse. Nurse did need some adjustments. Did she need them to the extent she got? Probably not, but it did weed out the Nurse players who quite simply, weren't that good.

As for Deathslinger, he does need a downside to being able to spam M2 and fake his power constantly. That kind of zero effort, free zoning shouldn't exist.

Like what? if he aims he goes into a 6 minute cd where he can't move see or hear? so ######### sick of this community.

Lets delete all killers and only leave wraith with no addons ok?

I also played nurse with no addons pre nerf and survivors literally threw against her all the time.

  • @BOT_Ethan said:

I used to find PH uncounterable around pallets, but everything suddenly changes when I think of him as Dr. If you loop around a single pallet, a good Dr stops you from dropping it and eventually get a hit, so people generally drop pallets before Dr is too close. And if PH is at the same distance, drop the pallet as well and it even works better since survivors get chance of mind game-- try to dodge M2 when PH expects you to vault.

Though I don't think PH is too strong to go against, I still believe that it's super boring to play against Death Slinger or PH, killers that not only stops looping but also bans mind game. And I expect devs to change Death Slingers' M2 hitbox and stop it from going through edges of everything. For noobs who believe that killers don't have to care about the game experiecne of survivors, I wish you a lot of fun destroying game community.

Well if they do that then they had better give him 115% speed.

  • @Mikeasaurus said:

I've been playing with my friend because usually I solo, but it's nice to play with him, plus we haven't played together for a while now, but every match has been the same tonight. Tunnel or camping every single hook. It's getting to the point we both don't want to play anymore, which sucks since this is the only game we play together when we get the chance. I get some SWF will make the killers life hell, but this is getting beyond stupid now. I shouldn't have to constantly run DS because of this. I hate the perk so much, but killers are forcing people to need it. Yet they wonder why it's so 'overused'

The only way this will change is if the dev's fix gen times.

Look at any match from the tournament and see how fast gens get done compared to what the killer can get done. it is literally throwing the game to 12 hook all survivors and leave all 4 in the game till the end with how few tasks survivors have and the resources at their disposal.

Add coms into the mix and you can't even "pressure gens" because survivors stick to them like glue because they know who is doing what.

It's a weird situation because if you remove the hook timer then survivors have no reason to leave their gen before completing it before they save, but if you increase gen times you can literally sit at every hook and get a 4k..

Yet for some odd reason the 1v1 is the most fun/interaction for survivor why is that? Also doesnt that make it important to be looked at.

If you want your 1v1 then all gens are to be blocked during a chase and only open to repair when a chase ends since the other 3 survivors shouldn't exist.

  • This game is a 1v4.

  • Survivor meta will only shift if the nerf the current perks into the gutter or release something even more op and detrimental to the killer.

Anything that doesn't screw the killer over is seen as "weak"

  • @MrLimonka said:

What if they were using Iron Will or Off the record?

    They all did.

  • People will be happy when they can host a dbd tournament without having to ban perks and items because they are to strong. And when the best thing a killer can do in a tournament isnt camp the hook and run noed because gens are to fast.

If you're a well performing killer, why are you complaining about a 5 second stun?

It seems to me, if you're performing well as a killer, you shouldn't worry about a little peck that hinders you for 5 laughable seconds.

Because it ends the snowball and completely resets the game allowing room for the survivors to regroup and heal. What perk does the killer have that literally resets the pace of the game?

  • That's the point. The previous noise was to quiet to the point you could do the gen next to the killer while they were chasing and they would have no idea. The killer also had to face check every gen just to know if someone was working on it and survivors could hear stealth killers approach because there was practically no noise.
