Add-ons are not killer nerfs. You don't have to play any killer with add-ons. They are optional.

I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, doesn't mean they make sense or are correct though, but you do you.

  • Nope. he is dead. He may be seen at super trash ranks because people will still try him since he can be bought with shards.

Anyone that thinks he was good or a problem is just the target audience that can't seem to raise through the ranks in this game.

  • time it. wait for a chain to spawn and dodge it, then immediately solve.

How did you tank your mmr going for 12 hooks? That is a 4k, fam.

But yeah, I play at low mmr too. I feel bad for all these killer mains experiencing the true DBD experience. Rip to them, but I am different.

zero gen defence and getting 8 hooks then messing with survivors until they walk out the exit.

The best way to stay at tolerable ranks is avoid gen defence and play for hooks over kills. Quick q times and it still presents a challenge. The game eventually throws a depip squad at you and it seems to set you back 3 games before it does it again.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2565851#Comment_2565851

Lol... If you want a "close" game where you 12 hook, it almost certainly explains why you are stuck at high mmr despite being "casual tee hee."

No idea what you mean by this. I started tanking my mmr the moment they announced they were collecting it behind the scenes. Only now starting to get to the annoying ranks where i need to equip gen defence but i can't be bothered.

I seem to get 3 easy games where i win and then one blowout with a 4 stack that do the gens in 3 minutes so i am happy to stay here :)

  • You just asked everyone why they don't lose on purpose.

Why the hell would you play a game just to lose every game for no reason if you would win?

Where is the fun in getting everyone to death hook and then just going afk while they do the last gens because you don't want to rank up?

Where is the fun in doing every gen just to afk at a hook so you don't rank up?

There is no fun beating people who are clearly new or not at your level...

People want the game to be balanced so you can go for 12 individual hooks and have a close game doing so where it comes down to the last gen.

  • If you died you lost mmr, it doesn't matter how well or how much you did during the match.

Did they really care more about Billy than Leatherface? Seems weird to me, but I wasn't around...

Leatherface was really weak before the buff.

What killed him for me was the additional noise notification for survivor to dodge aka his nerve grinding annoying repetitive roar.

I can just barely tolerate Oni's enrage and have given up on playing demo screaming every 5 seconds.

The roar and the volume increase on the chainsaw. The chainsaw was tolerable before and a lower tone, now it basically causes hearing damage.

  • @Elena said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2565533#Comment_2565533

From what I remember, barely anyone cried about billy in the first place.

Got plenty of rage in game back then and assume they cried on twitter since that is where the dev's live.

  • VHS looks promising assuming you can't just gang bang the killer. Propnight looks meh...

  • Then the low to mid tier survivors would cry again.

  • Just a shadow nerf. The delay got added first and then increased. then the gaps got added in another update.

I have had many instances where i will see a survivor running full sprint with bbq and teleport to them with range addons on nurse, only to find zero scratch marks. Its almost like they don't render them if you are not looking at them.

completing a gen also seems to just erase all scratch marks. I have had many games where they pop it in clear line of sight and i see them run away at the edges of the screen, but don't find any scratch marks in the area.

Bro, on what map is there a locker every loop? Have you ever tried playing Huntress, sometimes there aren't any for miles when you need to reload.

Pretty much the only map where Head On is a problem even once you know about it would be... I dunno, Haddonfield?

Well Haddon is the one map where this happened to me XD

Some of the basic loops have a locker on the outside wall after passing the pallet. If you walk through the door in shack they can get you.. Mothers dwelling -.-

I would much rather go against weaponised Head On than teams playing more efficiently, because at least Head On is funny and can be played around easily once you know it's in play.

Then you find yourself backing away from every locker... good luck winning chases when there is one on every loop. then again my ping is low so i can't bait like someone with 60+ can.

  • @jesterkind said:

Four Head On? That sounds like those survivors were memeing, that's probably a good thing.

Do you wanna summarize the points of the video? I don't tend to watch several minutes of a video someone posts at random without any context.

coconut rts is a well known huntress main that is being bombarded with cheaters thanks to sbmm. He has reported many of them multiple times with evidence but they are still in the game (they are literally flying etc). He shows responses from the dev team and concludes they don't do diddly squat.

Those aren't lose-lose scenarios. For survivors, a lose-lose scenario refers to a situation in which they walk away injured regardless of their choice.

Before his nerf, Pyramid Head could cancel his rites of judgement and immediately swing. This created a lose-lose scenario at pallets where the survivor could drop the pallet and still be injured or not drop the pallet and still be injured, hence the term "lose-lose".

They didn't gut Spirit's speed, they changed her add-ons. Her base speed and speed while phasing are both unchanged.

that was a bug that was still present after the nerf for a day. tell me you don't play killer without telling me you don't play killer.

They gutted her addons. aka they gutted her speed.

  • They smash gens out and then 99% the last 3 while using you as a point pinata

  • If you were winning pre mmr then you were not playing casual. If you are playing casually then you shouldn't care if you lose in 4 minutes.

Successful doesn't mean fun. Balancing around the highest level of play makes sense competitively, but it at comes at the expense of fun. Dead by Daylight wants to be fun, not competitive.

    @Kaitsja said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2562499#Comment_2562499

Killers don't have lose-lose scenarios. I don't recall reading anything in the patch notes about gutting Spirit's speed. Spirit will be fine, stop with the doom and gloom. The "Us vs Them" mentality needs to stop.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2562511#Comment_2562511

The problem with high MMR play is that you're facing SWF Death Squads who rush gens and know every loop and tile, how to run it, how long they can run it for and when to use a different loop. Leaving Spirit as is because of high MMR wouldn't be an enjoyable experience for the rest of the player base.

My point regarding Overwatch was simply that balancing for the few may make the most sense competitively, but it comes at the expense of fun. Dead by Daylight isn't a competitive game like Overwatch is. The goal is to strike a balance between what's fun and fair for both sides.

Gen speeds are the biggest problem for high MMR, but nothing gets done when everything boils down to "Us vs Them".

They removed all speed and duration addons so yes.. they gutted her speed.

    God pallet isn't lose lose?

Haddonfield god window and house of pain isn't lose lose?

    Do you play killer?

  • @ClumsyTrapper said:

    Bhvr is incompetent.

Cross progression is an industry standard at this point there's no reason they shouldn't be able to make it happen like everyone else who makes a video game in 2021

It has nothing to do with the devs and everything to do with sony and microsoft. Sony and Microsoft make money from you buying the game and buying cosmetics. If they let you swap platforms with ease then they lose money.

  • Survivors are able to face plant walls while retaining maximum run speed while killers slow down or even stop if they rub against the same wall or obstacle. This means killers can't get around loops as quickly making them take longer.

I don't understand why survivors can glide over things that killers get stuck on. The dev's should have implemented something to slow survivors a long time ago but they won't.

  • @Kaitsja said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2560725#Comment_2560725

This is the exact reason me and my friends quit playing Overwatch. It simply wasn't fun anymore and balancing around the highest levels of play meant that the game couldn't be enjoyed casually anymore.

The thing is you can't purposely balance around noobs in games like that. Both sides have equal opportunity to play the broken things since it is symmetrical meaning even at high level play it will naturally be balanced. Just mirror the opposite side and boom Peak balance achieved.

asymmetrical games are different. We have two opposing sides with different goals and numbers. When you get to mediocre level play the numbers don't make sense and one side is clearly easier and faster to do than the other. Then it catastrophically falls apart at the higher end.

  • @Kaitsja said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2558941#Comment_2558941

That is honestly a wild take. As for the subject of your topic, the developers care about both sides and have shown this time and time again. Keys are getting nerfed indirectly with the hatch not spawning until there's only one survivor left, and now no longer insta-open the hatch.

Boon Perks seem strong but honestly I don't see them shaking up the meta. Spirit and Deathslinger may be getting nerfed, but they're not being gutted. Not to mention other killers are getting add-on passes to make them better.

The changes for Spirit are going to make her a lot more fun to play against, and if you find yourself losing then maybe consider that you might not be as good as you thought you were. It's going to take out the guesswork for survivors, and challenge Spirit players to think outside the box.

The changes for Deathslinger aren't very significant, but ultimately necessary. M&A Deathslinger has a tiny terror radius, and quickscoping created a lose-lose scenario for survivors. When Pyramid Head was creating a lose-lose scenario for survivors, they nerfed him to rectify that problem. This is just them doing the same with Deathslinger.

While it may mean very little, I am a killer main but I also like to play survivor with my friends for fun. I see the upcoming mid-chapter update as nothing but a net positive across the board for both sides.

Yeah! only killers are allowed to have lose lose scenarios. They need to sit in a corner and shut up or play like the AI that survivors dream of with all options and counterplay stripped away from them. JuSt BreAk ThE pAlLeT bRo

Typically what is fun for survivor is horrendously not fun for killer.

I don't care about the spirit changes, but if you think she isn't dead for high mmr play, you are dreaming. They removed her speed and gutted her stealth.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/287012/actually-sbmm-did-a-pretty-good-job-imo

The game is globally total garbage. The game design is flawed to a point i don't understand how some features, map, perks are still in the game.

Honestly, at that point, i would really like to discuss with the chief game designer to see how the ######### he/she could have validated so much bullshit into one single game.

    • Half the maps are completely survivor sided to a point you can't do anything as a killer when you face a competent team : 0 line of sight, buildings, pallets, windows, objects everywhere
    • Some perks are broken and have too much a game changer power : Noed, Devour hope for exemple
    • Hex regressing perks are useless and are cleansed in 30 seconds at a fairly good mmr
    • Fact that survivors can all equip full meta perks is dumb and unbalance the game even more
    • Aim assist on PC that ######### your aim up half the time
    • Survivors' items are broken aswell, unbalancing the game from 70/30 to 90/10

Atm i'm learning nurse. I'm terrible with her and so i'm bad everytime in any circumstances but it allows me to clearly constate the game's flaws, especially because i'm so bad that everything is exacerbated. Some feqtures are here for years now, unfixed even though we have asked the devs to fix their damn game.

What i saw is that killer queues are now instant no matter the time you play while as a survivor you have to wait for 10 minutes (EU region). It shows how the killer playerbase is massively quitting.

Also, their 50% kill rate is bullshit. I have a 50% kill rate, i get stomped one trial with 0k to 1k then i stomp the whole team the next one with 3k to 4k. Every trials i play are totally unbalanced and unfun but averaging them makes it look "balanced" on the paper.

With DbD we are far, far, really far from the quality standard fixed by Valorant, Counter Strike, L4D, old Battlefield etc...

Depends on your mmr. You are only just learning nurse meaning your mmr is low. Survivors are compacted at the low ranks because they have no reason to get better, and surviving is optional for their gameplay since most just want chases and to make saves etc.

Killer will kill survivors by just playing normally. They have no other objectives or reason for playing so are concentrated at higher mmr making q times longer the higher you go.

I didn’t realize it, but apparently cheaters are purposely holding streamers hostage for hours. When you’re running into cheaters in 30% of your games, disconnecting each time probably isn’t an option.

And yet we still have (well known) people on this forum saying the ban system works lol!

  • Power role just refers to the one (killer) being equal in strength to the 4 (survivor). Currently the 4 (survivor) DOMINATE the 1 in every way when played a certain way, making them the "power role"

Sadly this game is viewed as a 1v1v1v1v1 rather than a 4v1 so when a survivor dies they cry about how op a killer is while ignoring the other 3 t-bagging in the exit gate

  • @Munqaxus said:

I agree. High-Level play is pretty much impossible for them to do much with, balance-wise though. Low-level play is hard to balance too. Average-Level play is where they are most effective. (I guess I should have said it like that).

Tell me why anyone should ever balance low to mid level play if it is balanced at the top 30% ? It is perceived as not balanced because YOU THE PLAYER SUCK and don't know what you are doing!

It is game destroying to balance around new to mid tier players (for money) because they always have the ability to get good. This game is one big churn. New players come in, get addicted and spend money in the store. They get good and discover how badly the game is balanced, get bored and frustrated and then leave or ######### on the forums lol.

So when he wins without iri addon it doesn't count right? Pinhead problems reminds me Nemesis. Some players are monsters while another ask for buffs because they don't want to master killer.

I can win without iri fang or hoarder, the thing is that it has nothing to do with me and everything to do with how BAD the survivors are.

  • @Munqaxus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/286776/why-are-pinheads-chains-so-bad

You are complaining about the Killer that Tru3 just recently said was probably going to get nerfed because he's so good.

He is only "good" when using an iri addon. Once engineers fang is gone he will be mid tier and unable to compete against "good" survivors. Not the 1%, just average survivors that understand loops and how to hold a button on a gen.

  • You only just figured out the game is built for survivors to lose? The second you load in you have already won, it is the mistakes you make that let the killer win.

Don't make mistakes? you win.. no matter what the killer does.

  • Ghostface stun noise lol. He projects how the player probably feels.

  • Self healing has always been op.

You erase any chase or damage a killer did if they do not commit to you. (free gen time)

You do not interrupt gen progress by making someone leave a gen to heal you (free gen time)

You take longer to down the next time a killer finds you (free gen time)

  • They don't want boon totems to have any risk involved. Risk and lose lose situations are for killers only and they can shut up and deal with it apparently.

  • @Mistakesweremade said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2558317#Comment_2558317

They are already pretty annoying to deal with. Can you guys go one thread without weeping about the other side for 5 seconds?

    Just dishing out reality.

Why else would any sane person design it so the killer breaks their own chains? We complained about chains being to easy to break and they compensated us by spawning extra chains. The problem is, they made them take so long to spawn and so slow, that nobody ever gets hit by them.

They know and have acknowledged the chains are bad. So why haven't they fixed it?

  • If they were good then the "boring" and "no counterplay" cries would be ringing through all the forums and twitter. If it works then it must be eliminated by survivor players.

Any kind of nerfs to survivors will be a buff to tunnelling and camping, they're just flat-out the most effective strategies and until that's changed, survivors can't suffer any nerfs. You reduce loop safety, first down is just shifted forward in the match, and camping becomes more effective. Tunnelling too.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2556103#Comment_2556103

Ages before the release of Deadlock. Ruin/Undying is still a relatively popular pick.

No point.... The same "but if you do X then Y will be stronger arguments circulated during the removal of infinites and attempted removal of 3 gen time waste loops.

Fix the cause and then fix the "problem" after.. if there even is one.

  • Yeah.. they want survivors to be fully safe and comfy while they bless or destroy totems and hexes. It doesn't matter how long it takes if the killer doesn't know you are doing it.

  • @Firellius said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2556086#Comment_2556086

DS didn't get a side-grade, it got straight up nerfed. Quite harshly, too, though it absolutely deserved it.

And you may not bother with Ruin, but most killers still do. It's still a meta perk, so it didn't get 'shut down completely'. You can point to Deadlock supplanting it as a meta perk, but that's just a meta shift since Ruin didn't get nerfed.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2556088#Comment_2556088

That would make the perk completely useless. That kind of downtime would require the perks' effect to be buffed to where the survivor goes straight up invisible under Shadow Step, or gets their heal time reduced to 2 seconds under Circle of Healing.

Ruin didn't, but undying, the perk that kept it relevant did.

  • @Firellius said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2556074#Comment_2556074

The issue is that the majority of the meta perks (DS, BT, UB) aren't strong, they just counter the killer meta.

You can nerf them down, but that'll just make killers camp, slug and tunnel more. I think the only way these perks will be dropped without the game becoming unplayable at the killer's whim is if they were integrated in the baseline somehow.

Camping and tunnelling is also a product of game balance. If you don't feel you can catch survivors then you are more likely to use them as bait and draw survivors to you.

Watch any killer streamer, even the ones that play both sides. you will see them turn to camping multiple times in a stream session. They may not snug up next to the survivor, but whey will hang close to the hook.

The map layout and loop safety needs changing.
