If you read and comprehend the announcement pinned to the top of every single page on the forum... you'll notice that ranks aren't indicative of player skill.

The SBMM they're testing today, is actually taking that into account. So when you look at the ranks on the scoreboard, it's going to look completely out of wack. All that means is the lower ranks have more experience than their rank suggests, and the higher ranks have less... providing it is actually working as intended. in either case, the displayed ranks mean nothing.

Ok, continue to live in your virtual world and thinking that what is pinned is the truth.

I play trials and i see that the matchmaking is totally broken as players matched together are far apart skill wise.

It has been years they are testing their "matchmaking" and it's broken, they can't fix it as they don't know how to evaluate what is a good and a bad survivor.

A survivor tunneled for 5 gens that escape with 13k is a good or a bad survivor ?

  • Yes today it's all over the place... they clearly don't know how to properly create a matchmaking lol...

  • Waiting for the killer mains coming and telling the game is survivors sided :).

Honestly, more stats we have more we see that the game balance is totally off with all the buff killers got during the last years...

Eh, BHVR knows slamming gens is a huge problem, but hasn't done anything about it for the same reason they've not fixed camping and tunneling.

    It's a legitimate strategy.

Only noob killers are complaining about gen rush.

Camping and tunneling a survivor is ruining the survivor's experience, whatever the skill he/she has.

Gen rush doesn't even exist. You can't be g en rushed if you have map control and if you drive your game towards a 3 gens situation.

  • @saltmineinaction said:

Not only tunneling but hard camping needs to stop too. Gameplays like this ruin it for survivors... Ive had 3 games in a row today with tunnelers & hard camping and it just ruins the whole game

BHVR knows that camping and tunneling is a big problem in DbD, it has been like this for 4 years and yet they have never done anything about it (and adding perks do nothing).

    CORRECT.

If my game doesn't skip, drop frames, crash, or stutter then it is fine. You can whine about peak performance all you want, but that doesn't make the game as unplayable as you claim.

Internet is full of guys like you who can't read anything =).

Where did i say the game was unplayable ? This mentality of over exaggerating everything... sad

FPS drops we get all the time because of Bloodlust,Sloppy butcher,Noed/Devour Hope etc. is certainly game breaking and has ruined a TON of matches for me and definetely for others aswell.

So basically the game is fine you just have insanely high standards. Got it.

If you don't know performance standards on gaming PC, you should not talk about it.

144 FPS became a standard on PC, especially since the RTX 2000 release.

Every mainstream multi games runs at 144 FPS + on my platform : Overwatch, Valorant, CS Go, R6S, LoL, PubG etc...

And yet with DbD i don't even ask for 144+, i just ask for 120 FPS which is not that high for this game and this game engine.

    "Insanely high standard" - someone with a 1400 โ‚ฌ gaming rig playing @ 60FPS ๐Ÿคจ

If Victor ignored I-frames then you woulda gone on exhaustion.

Victor's interaction with DH is interesting (His 'active frames' last long than your i-frames and if your both moving in the same direction he overlaps your hitbox longer than DH in most cases), but in this case the answer is simple, and, unfortunately, a biiit harsh to say:

You badly mistimed DH vs him, because for what your describing to happen, not only does Victor's player need to 'tell' the server that they hit you before you inputted the DH, but the server then needs to tell your system you were down before you hit the DH button.

So he just... got a clean hit on you. From what I recall Vic's hitbox is a bit 'smeared' out in front of him specifically to make it so he isn't unusable from a survivor just wiggling left to right which may be what caught you out. This is super common in games, the hitbox is basically saying 'ok in this moment its dead on so even if they move from here on out we are counting it as a hit because Victor can basically turn to 'grab you' mid air or something, and we don't want victor to miss by pixels ever on a good shot.'

Remember, vs Victor, always dead hard to the sides or towards him, never away!

Unless that DH is buggy and doesn't use the hit validation server feature :).

I run on ULTRA settings. Stop making excuses. The game is not that bad.

Take DbD, ultra settings, 62/80 fps with RTX 2060 and a Ryzen 2600x.

Now take BFV, ultra settings, 120 fps constant, with 64 players shooting, running, throwing grenade, building collapsing ant tank exploding =) and overall the game has way better base graphics.

So you play @ 62 FPS. I have a 1400โ‚ฌ gaming RIG, i play with 62 FPS and i feel happy...

A game like DbD, on UE4 should run @ 144 fps constant in high preset on my rig. I have a 240hz monitor, it's not to play with 62 fps...

Edit : while playing, i have 90 fps constant if i lock them, i can't go past it or else frames are uneven. Anyway when i unlock my FPS goes from 120 to 90 with GPU @ 50% max, CPU @ 25% max, Max Thread @ 70%. I have 16 GB 3200Mhz and a SSD EVO. So definitely something is leaking somewhere.

I run a $1400 PC that I bought years ago and I do not have performance issues on it. My FPS does not drop, I don't freeze, I don't disconnect.

Quit acting like this game runs like Crysis.

    How many fps ?

If you play @ 62 FPS, forget it, i don't play on pc to get 62 fps only.

  • Well, i guess 90% of the players on this forum has a PC weaker than a PS5 (Ryzen 3600 underclocked + RTX 2070/2080).

    40% weaker than a PS4 (Pentium G4400 + GTX 980).

So no, PC is not Masterrace unless you have money and you change your hardware every two years.

  • I'm a noob at coding but my guess is DbD's code is terrible, full of coding aberration and heavy useless line. I guess it is a mess in there and they can't really fix it without rewriting everything from scratch. Otherwise they would have been able to fix it.

But as i said, i'm a noob at this.

  • @RhysTheDemo said:

Don't know if you have corporate mandates to fill BHVR, I don't really care, what I do care about is you sticking to this 3 month killer release schedule with all these skins and whatever and yet no public announcements have been made with your goals to increase the game in technical quality whatsoever. You say you are constantly working on optimization for consoles at least but it seems that is rather ignored as frames can still dip plenty into below 20's on console, game stutters are often and crashes happen sporadically between patches.

Combine this with utterly abhorrent build testing where numerous and sometimes character or game breaking bugs are let into live server with a "fix it later" mentality. I am honestly surprised how successful this game is, but seeing as DBD is in the same niche games like madden and fifa have where they can be as broken and utterly trash as possible but gamers still buy them because they have a monopoly on that specific game niche is fully apparent with DBD.

The developers have made it abundantly clear in their near half a decade working on DBD and even longer before it's official release that they do not care about making a quality product and see you the player as expendable dollar signs and profit margins. And if any moderators take offense to me saying this then explain the year after year of utterly abhorrent bugs, glitches, optimization, and technical failures and errors that has plagued DBD patch-to-patch since its inception, yet they are still holding to a tight monetary 3 month content dump schedule and running microtransactions and battle-passes galore whilst the game SUFFERS.

Entire chapters, characters, and maps are released broken, buggy, and unfinished. Playtesting is so non-existent only a few months ago a literal universal HOOKING bug was let loose into live and took the developers much longer than they should of to get a hotfix out to patch it. How a bug so core and integral to base gameplay got through even the slightest of oversight BHVR may have goes to show their negligence to create a quality experience for their consumers.

This isn't even to mention the atrocity that is their balancing decisions, never have I seen developers so cloudy and untransparent with their community to address integral issues to their fullest many of which that still to this day go ignored. Dislike facecamping and tunneling? too bad take some perks and shush up, dont like gen rushing and unbalanced maps? too bad take some perks and very underwhelming map "reworks" which still have yet to actually balance many of the ultra safe loops and tile structures dead by daylight has. Yet they are still out here selling battlepasses, skins, and new chapter right on schedule no matter how broken it is for your consumption and their monetary gain.

BHVR, show us you care about your game... that you actually care, you can patch perks and buff or nerf this and that all you want and make baffling "reworks" like you did to clown all day. But until you actually show you desire to make this game better in meaningful and fundamental ways, you are no different than EA or Activision, strangleholding and nickle and diming players to your monopoly that you desperately hope no real competition to come in and rock your boat made out of cards.

I read your forum TOS mods, nothing in this post is inflammatory or inciting negativity towards anyone or the developers, It is all information easily collected through observational fact which many in the community is already aware of; I hope you take that into consideration when reading this over.

Playing this game for almost 4 years. The community has asked for a "health update" to optimize the game and get standard framerates on gaming PC.

    2018 - i had a i7 920 @ 4.0 Ghz + GTX 1060. I was able to run the game in ultra @ 60 FPS constant.

    2021 - i have a 2600x (50% more powerful or something) + RTX 2060 (50% faster) and i get 60 FPS in ultra.

What happened ? They changed the engine to go with UE4. Whatever, optimization is terrible an nothing will improve. I heard there are problems on PS5 too lol... which is like a combo 3600x slightly underclocked + RTX 2080... with faster RAM/SSD than what we have.

    What a shame xD.

  • I guess DbD has this effect on many ppl, even if they are sane. I have many friends that went into huge rage while playing this game.

DbD is frustrating because the gameplay features are broken, nothing feels fair for anyone as it is not fair at all.

It's a low skill high reward game and could be compared to pubstomp whichever side you play on.

  • @CanWeGetANewMap said:

Why is this in the game? Just had a match where I got a 3k within the first 2 minutes of the game. I let the last guy ds me and get hatch for points but guess what, de-pip. Why is this a thing? Even a 4k probably would've gotten me a de-pip to. Lets hope this MMR is better.

Because the points/rank system is build around an utopia state of the game (trial should give good chases and some kills in a perfect balanced game) but developers can't balance it in reality. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  • 9/10 for aesthetically

9/10 for the concept of the game

4/10 for the gameplay (developers have simplified too many things, skill requirement is really low)

3/10 for the optimisation (this game runs poorly even on good hardware - i mean sub 100fps in 1080p with a rtx 2060 and a ryzen 2600x is a joke)

1/10 for the overall balance of the game

And i would rate it a 4 to 5/10 globally.

Killers can hear survivors breathing even without Stridor. Tier 3 Stridor only makes breathing 25% louder.

I have Iron Will equipped in every trials i play.

  • @Dizzy1096 said:

I keep noticing people say Spirit takes no skill, Freddy takes no skill, Pyramid takes no skill etc etc and they say these killers need nerfs to become skill based.

Yet there exists within the game many things on the survivor side which take no skill whatsoever and that's apparently not a problem? take for example a map like Lerys, you can literally just hold forwards and mash space bar a few times to waste minutes of a killers time. This map isn't alone there exists a number of maps similar like meat plant or midwich for example, or areas of maps which can waste minutes of time with no skill required. Add in a few crutches like dead hard or sprint burst and the amount of skill required sinks even lower.

Is it because the people balancing the game focus too much on statistics instead of the experience? do they spend more time in excel than in the game? or is this just part of the survivor side priveledge, where the game has to be created in such a way that the majority find it fun at the expense of the minority?

Well play survivor and see for yourself how much skill does a good pallet loop require.

Turning around a pallet 3 times is noobish but finding your way between pallets/windows to hold the killer as long as possible by using as few pallets as possible is not that easy.

Survivors able to play like this are like top 1%. I mostly play duoQ and soloQ and i meet 1 player like this every 50 games... I rarely say : this random is good and gives good chases.

Thats what I'm saying. Either side should not concern itself with the other side having fun. Yet we have tons of threads saying "I'm not having fun so something should be nerfed!" When I want something nerfed or rework I give legitimate reasons for my wants. Not just "I'm not having fun and that's reason enough!"

Guys, calm down, you are fighting around something that should not be our problem, survivor or killer.

I mean, both sides have to have fun in almost every trial. There are toxic behaviors and toxic gameplay mechanics, perks, addons on both sides.

And it's not the survivor's "job" to be concerned by the killer fun.

Also it's not the killer's "job" to be concerned about the survivors' fun.

Whose job it is to your mind ? It's the developers' job, period. And clearly they don't do what needs to be done to fix the unfun aspect of the game.

From my experience the majority of lobbys are swf. 2+2 I don't mind but I see plenty of 3 man (overpowered), and a fair few 4 mans (insanely op).

SWF do need a nerf I'm not sure why you're trying to argue that. Literally everyone with time and experience in the game says SWF is overpowered. Even people that defend survivor and try to be neutral says SWF is overpowered. What are you trying to prove exactly?

Calling SWF insanely OP or trioQ OP means you are not good enough to play in red ranks man... Good killers have no problem to do at least 2k against SWF with any killer...

Not to be rude but you should definitely check some youtube tutorial about how to chase in jungle gym etc... and one video about map control. There are good players that made some.

@YourNightmare From my experience that's BS. I play PC and the majority are either 2 players or 3 players partys. This has been consistent for a long time now and those stats do not reflect my experience almost daily for years.

Unless you want to tell me that 3 people who just happen to be on each others friends lists are all playing solo and just happen to get into the same lobby at the same time.

    By order of popularity

    2 players -> 3 players -> solo players -> 4 players

Some days though the 3 players can outnumber the 2 players.

The stats are good. 50% of soloQ means you encounter 50% of soloQ players not 50% of teams composed exclusively of soloQ player.

Exemple : in a team of 2 soloQ and 1 duoQ you have 50% soloq players and 50% duoQ players.

But still SWF are almost non existent and all killer mains on this forum cry as if it was a subject. There is no subject at all, it happens 7% of the time, what are you all talking about ? You have more chance to die from the flue than to face a SWF rofl...

Anyway, you asked for a SWF nerf, now i prove that SWF doesn't exist (almost) and you immediately almost asked for a duoQ/trioQ nerf... ๐Ÿ˜‚

Edit : Hop double post sorry, my previous one was in "valdiation"... check the previous one to have better explanations.

You are right, the graph is good.

    Team 1 : 1 duoQ, 2 soloQ

    Team 2 : 4 soloQ

    Team 3 : 2 duoQ

    Team 4 : trioQ + 1 soloQ

In those 4 teams, you have 16 players : 6 players from duoQ - 7 players from soloQ - 3 players from trioQ

So 43% players from soloQ, 18% from trioQ, 37% from duoQ.

It's an exemple but this graph is what it means, it doesn't mean there are 50% ofthe trials that are composed exclusively of soloQ players... it means solo players represents 50% of the playerbase.

    SWF are insignificant.

But still, you ask for a nerf towards SWF, i prove you that they almost don't exist so you almost jump to a nerf duoQ and trioQ...

And the vast majority of players have their friend list private... so come on, stop the bad faith lol.

Gonna say this till the cows come home but NERF SWF specifically it dosent have to be huge a minor action speed decrease that decreases further with each subsequent memeber joined to that group. If solo sucks stop balancing aroind swf and start separating the solo play from swf play.

Yes solo sucks but even bar the game balance argument why is it rainbow rank matchmaking. Sure you can argue rank dosent matter but back when my games as survivor had almost gurranteed purples and reds my success was much higher. Now I get greens and frigging yellows in my game. Who can single handedly get the entire team killed by wasting pallets or pulling the team to a bad spot at the start of the game.

Solo sucks because of the following resons.

    A. Poor matchmaking if i see one more yellow rank survivor self caring im gonna lose it.

    B. Has to be balanced in the same ecosystem as swf? Thsi is unfeasibly dumb. Swf hurts solo play it needs some weaknesses.

    C. A lack of communication options current year argument why do we not have pings. Why cant i as a survivor mark a hex totem without having some awkward terrible perk that will likley never be used by a majority of the community ir create a marker that awares other players of an oncoming killer. If the argument is its too strong why the helll does swf exist?

    image.png image.png

    SWF survival rate is 50%.

SWF represents 5% of the trials.

    Any other argument ?

Nope yo uare wrong. Ppl don't play killer because they are lazy to learn, it's easier to be carried but your teammate as a survivor. I see so many red ranks survivor that don't even know to play the game properly, they are boosted.

As a killer you rely on yourself so you have to improve, you can't be boosted. When you understand the basics of the game, killer is super easy. I don't see Not Otzdarva, TrueTalent or other good streamers having a hard time as killer, they don't sweat anything lol.

killer want survivor to be nerfed (even if justified)

this in turn makes playing not in SWF even Harder and even more unbalanced for them, so in the end solo player either quit the game or become part of a SWF.

And some killer are seriously wondering why there so many SWF or even Some Toxic SWF.

Solo Survivor have to deal with other survivor ( who are mostly useless) Killer ( who can easily ruin the experience for a person when they get mad) and Devs ( who keeps nerfing solo survivors even more than SWF with their changes).

So if some of them get in a SWF group and can get "revenge" for everything they had to deal with up to this point ofc they would do this because this would just be the justice they deserve.

In the end of all this, when it will be impossible to enjoy the game as a solo player or in duoQ (it's almost the case, i would say you enjoy it 50% of the trials), there will be SWF only, everyone else won't play the game anymore and developers will continue to nerf survivors cause killers will continue to cry :).

But fact is in red ranks :

    • the vast majority of killers don't know what is map control, i never see any 3 gens situation during end game. They don't have a brain, they just run and use M1
    • the vas majority of killers don't know how to break jungle gym layout and loop layout, and they are like pallets are too strong lol... No fact is YOU don't know how to break a loop.

    Gunslinger i would say around 50/60% suicide/DC.

Other killers it's much much rarer. PH it happens sometimes.

If the killer (any of them) is camping, it's a suicide almost 100% of the time. If the killer is tunneling it's a DC like 40% of the time.

You see a lot of noob PH getting stomped. Hard to play doesn't mean balanced.

The Nurse is OP in good hands and she is really really hard to play. PH is not as effective as the nurse but he can denies every loop if you spam your attack. He can avoid flashlight saves and bodyblock with the cage. The map control is ok as he is fast enough on most maps.

In a fair trial where there is no suicide, no tunnel and no camp (at least early game), maybe it is balanced, you got this.

But those numbers show there is something wrong, and that it's so wrong that the kill rate is really high, way too high.

Whatever this is : OP killer, camping/tunneling, too many suicides/DC etc...

It proves one thing for sure : the survivor experience is crap.

Got sources on these claims that most people think he is worse now and op? I havent seen it on here at all nor in game playing either side. I've seen only a couple people say it (infact I've seen more people argue Myers, Bubba, and Twins are op than PH being OP which is hilarious to me)

The arguement that a killer is op in the right hands is not a good arguement, especially when referring a YouTube since those are generally the best players and you could also say any killer is insane in the right hands. You can find killers mains for all killers and it look like a killer is OP since they do so well with that particular killer.

No source, i just remember that on this forum (on my previous account) that when it was released many OP threads were posted.

After the nerf some twitchers/youtubers made video about how even worst it was xD.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_XJJWslzYI

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAviX0iWh-M

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PO5aDlgiOA

    https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dbd+pyramid+head+nerf+is+more+op

After nerf, spamming punishment is the way to go and when you spam it, survivors can't do anything and can't survive more than 20 sec.

I've never heard of anyone else arguing this for deathslinger and PH especially while also not mentioning freddy. I've played games against really good players of each and did well. Hag isn't as bad as a lot of people make her out to be. I could see a better case for spirit or nurse though

Because most killers and survivors are terrible. PH is a beast in good hands, believe it or not. Gunslinger aswell. Against random soloQ/duoQ it's 3 to 4k every game.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcheNk43V1Q

That's 1 exemple. But you can check Skyteuur on Twitch, he is a great PH player... 4k every game. Even sometimes he stops moving between chases to read the chat lol... and still gets 4k.

And it's well known that PH is OP... Everyone complained at release, then they tweaked it and most have said it's even worst.

  • In good hands, Deathslinger, Spirit, Nurse, PH, Hag are impossible to beat if you are not in a SWF...

(i have read the end of your post)

I don't want to sound condescending here, but there are a lot less god killers than god survivors.

Statistically there may be the same, but numbers wise due to survivors having the majority of the playerbase they have more god survivors.

The thing about DC'ing just isn't true.

People DC because they aren't fun to play against, not because they are op.

Spirit is the only possible exemption you could try to make.

Nurse takes way too long to get good at her, and so most people DC'ing against her are DC'ing against mediocre at best nurses. Deathslinger has boring counterplay, but there is counterplay. He lacks map pressure. Abuse the ######### out of that. If you don't, that's on you. Same with spirit, albeit she has it a bit easier in the chase. Hag has no map pressure outside of locking down areas. Just crouch or activate her traps when she is in a chase. This will make it really difficult for her, due to her having to set up early to get any power.

Doctor is also DC'd against. Not because he's op. He's not. He's just annoying to play against.

You think there is a direct correlation between being op and DC's. However, there is a correlation but it's not that. It's against either Freddy (who needs a nerf I agree) or killers who can control the pace of the game. That's powerful, but not op. Deathslinger, nurse and spirit all control the chase rather than the survivor controlling it. It's annoying, but imagine how the other killers feel when they can have their chases dictated by survivors mistakes rather than their own skill. All of these killers bar nurse lack map pressure. But it's nurses map pressure and chase potential as a GOD KILLER who plays nurse (very few out there. In fact I can only think I've played against 2 or 3 in my time of playing) so she takes so long to learn that she's not op.

These killers are DC'd against because these killers excel in chases or with the right set up can quickly finish them. That's not fun for survivors because they can't dictate the chase. They do have counterplay, and most are by no means are op.

I didn't even read all you wrote, same i don't want to sound condescending but everything you write is comparing said killer against SWF.

"He lacks map control so exploit it and gen rush" ye ok in SWF, what about team of soloQ/duoQ which represents 95% of trials in red ranks ? Ah ye, no counter.

When we talk about balance in this game, we have to take in account the general cases which is 1 killer vs a non SWF squad.

On the competitive scene (that almost doesn't exist on DbD), the tournament rules can be tweaked to balance killer vs SWF.

    You're 100% right.

Hopefully the rank system is subject to change where THE best players are at the top. Not this plateau of people varying between gold - challenger in rank 1. Well said.

This will never happen. Why ? Because developpers are terrible at their own game, i mean they are really not high skilled so how can you create a working matchmaking while you don't even know what it is to be a good player ?

Sorry champ, but I'm not wrong. Officially the new matchmaking isn't even on NOW. I say "officially" because I suspect that it has been turned on and off for testing purposes regularly since it was turned off last Fall. "Taste the Rainbow" is a very real thing, which happens to me (at least) every other day. About the only time I don't see it show up in a reliable pattern is during events.

It is on :). They activated it by mistake with the last hotfix.

Killers strength depends on the strength of the survivors they face.

Any killer can be strong against bad survivors.

However only a select few can be mediocre against good survivors (nurse, spirit, hag, deathslinger , billy).

And only a few can be mediocre against very good/god survivors (nurse and spirit mostly, hag can try).

Most killers depend on the survivors making mistakes, so the majority of games if both sides play flawlessly, the survivors will escape (maybe a 1k if they get 1 and camp to ensure the last kill).

If your playing the best killers to a good degree (god tier nurse, good spirit, good hag) then they can put a dent in the really good survivors.

Imo, the things that inflate the kill rates are two things. Suicide/DC/ killing themselves on hook against nurses and spirits and deathslinger and hag. Also, the fact matchmaking does not work. If matchmaking worked, there would be no weak link in the chain for a good killer to exploit to get some edge on good survivors. If they get a decent matchmaking system up and going, you will soon see how difficult it is for killers of red ranks, and how they will get very few kills. On top of this green/purple ranks should get more kills due to not being put against people outside their skill ,(red ranks).

You guys need to level up the way you think things.

I agree with you for everything you have said but you miss something.

If you consider the red rank playerbase only (killers & survivors), on tens of thousands players (maybe between 50k/100k all platform), we can admit statistically that the skill repartition in those red ranks is following the Normal Distribution Law.

To make it short, in those red ranks there are as much trash killers than trash survivors and as much god survivor than god Killers.

Once you admit this, mixing all of them in hundreds of thousands trials will give you extremely accurate stats. So stats are accurate and the kill rate is 70% period !

Then about suicide & DC that affects the game. Sure those behaviors affect the stats if they happen often. We can postulate two things :

    1) they happen enough to impact the stats

    2) they don't happen enough to impact the stats

    --------------------------------------------------

    1) If they happen enough then the question is why does survivors DC/suicide against Spirit, Deathslinger, Hag and not against other killers that, strangely have the exact same kill rate ? Because those killers are OP.

    2) if they don't happen enough then the is no talk about it. And i think there are not happening enough to impact the global stats, why ? Because we all know that DC and suicides happen mostly against Hag/Deathslinger/Spirit/Freddy and let's say PH. DC and suicides almost never happens against a Trapper, a clown, Pig or Blight and what can we see ?

Deathslinger has a lower kill rate than all of the killers listed above and the kill rate is still around 70% for all those killers.

That is easy, because I am a Red Rank Killer. Matchmaking is awful. Some days I play against all Red Rank Survivors (or with some Purple thrown in) which is as it SHOULD be. On those days I have a hell of a fight in every match. It can go either way, and often does.

On other days (when I suspect they are testing out MMR or their Ques are backing up) I get to "Taste the Rainbow" and every match has one Red Rank, some Yellow, Brown, and perhaps a Green. It is really random, and devastating to that poor slate of Survivors. One Red Rank cannot carry a team against a Red Rank Killer. Moreover, Red Rank Killers have to go into every match giving 110%, sweaty as hell because if they don't they will lose. Things are solidly tilted in Red Rank Survivor territory. As such, when we don't get matched correctly, those ill-suited Survivors are totally rolled before we even realize we should take our foot off the gas.

Killers, in most regions, are desperately needed. Ques determine who you get matched against more than skill (sadly). That means whenever the lines start backing up, Survivors are thrown to Red Rank wolves that they are not prepared to face. That also skews the numbers.

Wrong. Stats are few months old and the new matchmaking wasn't on. Red rank killers were matched against red rank survivors. You take extra events and consider them as a general case so :

    • no red rank killers aren't often matched against purple and lower rank survivors
    • even if this happens, the hundred of thousands trials used to calculate the stats make those extra events insignificant as it might be 5 to 10% of hundred of thousand games

Statistics are the most accurate data you can get to study anything. When the population is big enough (here hundreds of thousands trials), you can admit scientifically that the stats have a 99.9% accuracy and totally represent the state of the game.

I won't loose my time to explain how statistics work, you can google it if you want to learn more about them.

1 year ago devs have released more complete stats with DC rate, suicide rate etc and a guy on the forum took those stats and excluded all suicide+DC trials. Results were the same with a kill rate around 68% in red rank games. But ye you will still find something to say it's worng blabla.

If you "know how to apply pressure and have a good map control" then you already know what's enough to win most games. You don't need to be above average to be rank 1 on neither sides. Your friends don't determine what side the game is balanced. I also have more than 3k hours and I say it's balanced, but overrall my opinion doesn't matter.

I won't discuss the part where you talk about specific killers because honestly that's your opinion. PH is nowhere near OP.

And what do you mean Ayrun and Noob3 don't outplay red rank killers? I see rank 1 killers literally DCing against Ayrun and last time I checked he was doing an escape streak on solo queue. Noob3 doesn't even play anymore but he also got some insane escape streaks. Most survivor montages are with purple or green rank killers because you don't often 360 or flashlight save against your average red rank killer.

Pretty much the experience i'm having with the game right now =) unless i'm never matched against green/purple rank killers. So no, it's not easy for Ayrun lol... Even for his SWF it's not that easy.

Lately we keep on seeing discussions that constatly beat over the fact that kill rates are above 50% which they consider too high, ignoring all the context, pushing the idea that survivors are weak, killers too strong and should all be nerfed it seems.

So, let's make something clear. Even if I ignore the facts like DCs, hook suicides, new players boosting the kill rates, etc all which drastically increases kill rates, what actually makes them so high.

Simply said, it's the fact that 1 player will overall make less mistakes than 4 players, in other words coordination and skill disparity is what's causing survivors to die so much.

By that I want to say that killer is only 1 person, they only need to rely on their own ability to play the game, they don't need anyone else to do well. Solo survivors heavily suffer from the need to have all 4 players play well as even 1 weak survivor can be enough to dramatically shift the odds in killer's favor. That applies even if killer never actually chases said weaker survivor since they'll just be inefficient. They'll take long time to do gens if even, slowly walk around, won't do proper saves not even talking about their chase duration or how they waste resources.

Even if survivors were drastically buffed and killers nerfed the issue would remain, bad uncoordinated players would continue on increasing the kill rate and even the good ones would suffer from lack of coordination making them waste time.

The only way to adress the kill rate issues is first to make proper matchmaking that will not allow mediocre players to get into highest ranks and add more tools for survivors to communicate or get information in some way to lower the gap between 4 SWFs and 4 solos then balance both sides accordingly.

That is at least my take on the reasoning behind the high kill rates.

    • matchmaking for sure
    • map layout, some are good, some bad
    • some killers are way too strong for public games

I don't know if you play survivor at high level but there are clearly killers you can't do anything against. Add the fact that you get potato survivors with you and the trial is dead before starting.

Honestly, being matched with survivors that don't do gens, run around, doesn't know to spread on the map and can't hold any killer more than 10 seconds... while i'm a full time red rank for 3 years and i have 1000h as a survivor is a terrible experience for me. They have to create a ranked matchmaking with a rank system that represents your skill (diamond, plat, gold, silver etc...).
