  • Why do we need a perk that does this?

There's already so many killers that can injure over dropped pallets, yes m1 killers struggle with that but not every killer can be high tier and they excel in other areas.

  • Made me realize Horror is one of those genres that actually looks better low budget.

Recent intros have been too flashy and over the top and I really like the cctv style intro much more.

  • Everyone read the OP VERY CAREFULLY before commenting.

I'm gonna go shower now after reading that.

  • Don't play her myself but from what I can tell it's two camps

    1. Having survivors instantly give up against you all the time is a feature not a bug
    2. They genuinely find her kit interesting and sees complexities in it other people either don't or refuse to see.

For me personally it's been months since I've seen a SM so all the topics are her are confusing to me because I can't believe other people are seeing her all that much.

  • Wraith isn't that bad the only thing I worry about when I see Wraith is I feel like most of them run NOED for some reason.

Its like the same trap perk as Potential Energy on my soloQ teammates yet this one is even worse. I allready hate when someone using Potential Energy when repairing a gen with me only to just use its effect on the same gen (huge time waste). That perk on its own is allready pretty awfull and add people who don't even know how and when to use it.

At least potential energy can have some use in a SWF and help you get the last gen done quickly if you coordinate it right.

I just see no scenario where weaving spiders is worth it.

I imagine that both will be nerfed.

Not sure what will happen to Wicked, but I doubt it stays that way for long and I do think it's unhealthy

SiS might just get a number nerf. That's all I'm expecting for it.

SiS might go back to 60% or even down to 50% being able to get a regular speed heal solo with botany is kinda busted and we're just back to CoH again. This somehow happened the same time as a Mangled nerf lol, Wraith is crying in a corner rn.

Wicked idk it's strong but I don't think it's actually that busted, Breakdown gives you the aura read for 6 seconds but also breaks the hook for 3 minutes. Wicked's primary effect only happens on 4 specific hooks that the killer can just choose not to hook you there just like they can choose to not walk through pallets on the way to a hook cuz of power struggle. Maybe you can cut the aura read to 12 seconds but I don't think that's super necessary.

  • SiS and Wicked are two of my favorite perks in a long time and I doubt they're leaving my builds any time soon. SiS has been talked about a ton already so instead I'm going to talk about Wicked.

The basement unhook is nice I've gotten to use that more than I expected but the aura read is the real reason I love this perk so much. Being able to know if the killer is coming back to hook has saved me from so many potential tunnels it's crazy. Even where they don't, knowing where the killer is for that long just feels very impactful.

Haddonfield is survi sided we all know it, but leaving aside the houses it has too many dead zones that are of great advantage to spirit. Toba is "small" but is full of structures and it has a high ambient noise and we are talnking about a killer that depend on vision and hearing. And that you say the spirit is the 3rd strongest killer is your personal opinion.

Literally find any tier list from an experienced player and they'll have Spirit as number 3 I have never seen any deviation from that from the moment Blight took her number 2 spot.

Haddonfield is a weird map it's not survivor or killer sided but it's not balanced either the houses are ridiculous to deal with as killer but the entire middle of the map is a giant dead zone where you go down in 15 seconds if found there. Regardless I was talking about size which is the same as Nostromo which is a map where half of the map is a massive dead zone littered with unsafe pallets. It's size is not really an issue.

Toba has a relatively strong main building but I don't find the jungle gyms there anything out of the ordinary. I think it's actually a very balanced map but I can interfere with listening as Spirit but again I don't think it's a massive problem for one of the strongest killers in the game coupled with the fact some of the loudest survivors like Feng, Meg and Claudette are the most popular.

  • It's odd to me you cite newer maps as a problem when Toba is one of the smallest maps in the game and Nostromo is no bigger than Haddonfield with no mention of the actual largest maps like Disturbed Ward, Shelter Woods or Azarov's Resting Place.

You also cite exhaustion perks but those are absolutely nothing new, Sprint Burst and Lithe are some of the oldest perks in the game.

I don't think Spirit really needs any changes when she's the 3rd strongest killer in the game and nobody really threatens to take that spot from her.

  • I have two thoughts

    1. The reviews in the video are hilarious and mostly seem to be people who are primarily survivor players who are angry the game is no longer a bully simulator, I don't think any healthy version of this game would appeal to these people so it discredits the idea there's a problem in the first place. Granted the game does still have it's issues I just think it's a bad idea to include reviews that people mostly rage posted to support his point.
    2. Regardless a point based build system is intriguing but I am skeptical it would change anything, maybe the meta would change but there would likely still be a strict meta as we're in an age of gaming where everything gets optimized within weeks so I'm struggling to see how it would meaningfully change anything.
  • My current escape rate against them is currently 50%, hardly seems OP.

Also they're been out less than a week ofc you're seeing them a ton last killer that didn't really happen with was Singularity.

  • Yeah bleed outs don't count cuz if the entity doesn't get to eat them they're not giving you credit for throwing it's food on the floor.

  • Powerwolf collab with some werewolf skins would be cool but honestly I'd be happy with anything, I'm really happy BHVR is creating a metal wing for the community.

What's the point of this change? Punishing the survivor for what reason?

It's not about punishing survivor players it's about logical constancy.

Being on hook is essentially being broken as you can't be healed until you're taken off the hook. There's no reason survivors should be fully healed while simultaneously dying.

People are mixing Unknown's new cosmetics to construct recreations of harmful stereotypes of trans people to then bully those players when they find them in matches. I'm not sure when you joined DBD, but if you remember the Bface Bubba situation, it's like that again.

The cosmetics themselves aren't inherently transphobic or anything, it's just the way they're being used.

I mean it's just a silly little noodle monster in a cheerleader outfit, I don't see how it relates to trans people. The people using it for that are really stretching for the association IMO, those people should ofc be reported and banned but I don't think the cosmetics themselves are problematic.

  • Where was it confirmed it's being reworked?

  • I'm sorry I'm missing the point of this thread? Are we saying the cosmetics are transphobic or that the people are mixing them in such a way they think parodies trans people to then harass people with trans charms?

Because the former I disagree with that but the latter is unfortunate and anyone who sees this should report those people with evidence and get them out of here.

Sure thing, but UW is an info perk. It's not doing anything special other info perks don't do. It's in line with them, so there's no reason for it to be treated as a special case.

Well, unless you're going to say that blocking WoO is super obnoxious, but then I'm going to laugh.

It's actually not in line with them

BBQ - needs a hook and has a range limit

Lethal - Only at the beginning of the game

Nowhere to Hide - lasts nowhere near as long much more limited where you can use it

Floods of Rage - needs a scourge hook and you don't control when it activates

I'm all ears - only activates on a action you don't control

    Darkness revealed - map dependent

    Nurses - need someone healing

    deathbound - lol

    Spies - much less reliable

whispers - nowhere near as precise

Ultimate weapon meanwhile you only need a locker, after that for 30 seconds if you are near a survivor you will not only know but know specifically which survivor it is and it is completely under your control when you use it the only singular condition is find a locker. It is better info you can use more times per game and you have complete control over it, I don't see how it's in line.

  • I generally take complaint threads with a grain of salt because they're so common and you can find one for just about anything in the game but having played with and against Ultimate Weapon a good amount now I feel confident in saying it's a total crutch perk and way overtuned.

It completely erases the need for the killer to have any game sense whatsoever and finds survivors for them while turning off one of the most common survivor perks in the game and on a relatively short cool down as well.

I took it off for a few games and was shocked at the difference of "oh wait I actually have to find people myself" and I haven't run it since because I truly think it will make me worse at the game if I make it a staple perk for me, it's the same reason I never used Dead Hard or MfT when they were overtuned and make no mistake Ultimate Weapon is on that level.

People seem to say "oh always take chases occupy the killer instead of hiding" and yes wasting the killers time is important but the killer chasing nobody buys the most time out of anything that can happen, there's a reason generally people are not looking for the killer at the beginning of the game because you take chases if you have to but if you drag out the amount of time the killer has to look for you that's effective time you're buying for your team.

Ultimate Weapon just deletes this aspect of the game entirely. The killer WILL find you and they WILL do so in a prompt manner giving them efficiency they couldn't dream of otherwise. If pain res buys the killer a substantial amount of time Ultimate Weapon is a perk that rips away a substantial amount of time away from the survivors and I'd argue that's a stronger effect because we have a ton of perks that up gen efficiency but there's only a few that are meaningful in chase and generally those get hated on very quickly and changed.

tl;Dr Ultimate Weapon is a top 3 killer perk that not everyone is using if not the strongest killer perk in the game and is very unhealthy and deserves whatever nerf it gets.

  • I feel you, sometimes the only reason I escape is because I'm finishing 3-4 gens on my own. I know doing gens isn't the most exciting thing in the world but if everyone did only one gen you're like 80% of the way out, I wish they would try just a little.

  • I personally disagree I've been running it with botany and when you know you know the killer is chasing another survivor you can get a quick heal off and get information on where they are meaning you know which gen is safe to go work on. This information mind you comes off a heal that when run with botany is faster than someone else healing you, it's miles ahead of self-care.

  • It just baffles me anyone thinks it's worth running, literally what happens is they do nothing for two minutes then you hear the noise for completion and then they go down 2 seconds later because the just gave themselves broken and told the killer where they are lmao.

  • I started tracking my games today and I'll share the results at the end of the season but currently my escape rate against Unknown is 33% (50% for the day total) and it's kinda not had a lot to do with Unknown.

One game was just with people doing more totems than gens and the other was on new groaning storehouse and honestly that map feels a little too small to me now. My observations on Unknown rn is the following

    1. He actually has insane map presence with the teleports
    2. Running him is kinda annoying to have to constantly look at him, other killers like slinger and huntress it feels like you can alternate looking ahead and looking behind inbetween shots but Unknown feeling like you have to look at them all the time.
    3. Dispelling hallucinations feels like a must to keep them under control.
    4. Most insane zoning in the game, a lot of Unknowns I'm playing against just hold the shot forever and they barely lose any speed
    5. I have not seen their dog and I wish they would stop asking me

People are sandbagging Sables? Thats really dumb. Ive used the Invocation and either people come to help or they keep working on gens, looping the killer, etc. The only one who did anything was someone who chased the Killer i to the basement, pointed at me and than DCd. The Killer just stared at me for a second after downing the bot, hooked the bot and left. (Did down and sac me later but at least they recognized someone was trying to screw me)

Not Sables just people who use the invocation perk, I had a game on RPD today against a Nurse and after I escaped I spectated and watched the healthy Sable try to run in front of the one that had used the invocation perk to keep them from leaving, didn't work and they both escaped but they tried it and I'm not totally surprised to see people say they've witnessed the same thing.

It's annoying to see someone use it because even with the buff it's a really bad work that wastes so much time but trying to get those people killed is really dumb.

I do think that killer should remain the "power role" it would be cool if this meant that survivors could still escape and/or not be removed from the match so quickly. For example, digging more into the "horror" aspect, making chase more lucrative and rewarding, and truly surprising, scaring, or catching survivors off guard. It would be cool if it could be more like that rather than controlling gameplay styles of survivors, and getting 3k average against solo queues. I have a big issue with the fact that, if a killer wants you out of the game, you will get out of the game, no matter what. That's a bummer.

I believe you about the queue times. That is interesting. That sounds like a problematic time to be playing as killer, for sure. If i recall correctly, they released the "target goal" of 60% win rate around this time, and posted (happily) that they achieved this in September of 2022. Sept 2022 balance felt much better than it currently does, IMO. What do you think?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe September 2022 we were on our way to experiencing the gen kick meta with Eruption/CoB/Overcharge when killer was the most autopilot it ever was and kicking gens and holding a 3 gen was often prioritized over chasing.

I actually think things are better now as killers are actually required to get hooks to get their gen regression and in a vacuum pain res, pop, grim, DMS these perks are fine on their own but I think what's just naturally happened over time is we've hit a critical mass in gen stall and regression and it's just too much to handle all at once but if BHVR somehow split the perks into pools and you could only take 2 at most from a particular pool I think that would feel much better to play. So IMO the problem is oversaturation rather than the actual balancing itself.

Interesting. This seems mostly anecdotal (I haven't been able to find any stats on this in the few mins I've been trying to research your claim). To counter, I will simply say that, anecdotally, I was getting faster queue times in 2021 and 2022 than I currently am. I am NA West.

No it's true back when the game was easier to data mine it got revealed the ratio was something like 4 killers for every 100 survivors much below the ratio needed for a reasonably fast queue and it was the closest DBD ever got to actually collapsing and dying and is IMO what spurred the massive 6.1 changes.

This was back when hatch spawned with 2-3 people still in the game DH was the most broken perk in the game and the DS/Unbreakable combo was rampant. Killer was miserable to play at that time as it felt like you needed permission from survivors to play the game as you had so many perks to deny hooks and downs.

Is the game too far in the other direction now? Hard to say I do well in both roles so I have a hard time thinking it's that horribly balanced although killer is undeniably the easier role now IMO I don't think that's the worst thing in the world given this is a horror game. The ease of killer should probably be toned down but I have zero problem with killer being the "power role" so to speak as a threat should have teeth to it otherwise it's not worth overcoming.

  • A YouTuber named Pebsie tested this exact thing with unforeseen and dark devotion and it does indeed create two separate fake TRs.

  • I'm running the same thing with the black tee. Can't wait until the next rift to see what we get.

What is it that makes Singularity your favorite terror radius?

I get heavy metroid prime vibes from it so it's like psuedo-nostalgia for me?

And the closer TR has an actually not annoying alarm that builds tension.

  • I'm buying Sable 100% that's my new main.

Unknown I'm torn on they'll probably be one of those killers I'll hold off on for a few months and maybe I'll get them later.

  • Year 8 has to be my favorite so far with Sable being my first survivor I actively want to main and getting Alien in DBD even if I don't main Xeno having them is still very cool and I wouldn't say DBD missed with anything this year at all as far as releases go.

This is especially good with year 7 being DBD's worst year content wise (I would have said year 5 but Silent Hill does a lot to save it) and hopefully they can keep it up in year 9.

  • I actually think it's one of the more fair gen regression/stall effects considering you need to get a down get them on a specific hook and it has to be on a unique survivor each time and you can only do it 4 times.

Compare this to Deadlock which is 30 seconds of stall cuz the survivors did their objective or Corrupt which the killer gets for *checks notes* loading into the game and I don't think it's a problem.

Don't get me wrong I think it would be boring if everything triggered on hooks I'm just saying it's hard to say a perk with so many conditions to fulfill is overpowered or unfair.

  • The only killers I don't like going against is Nurse and Blight cuz they're hilariously overtuned and Stealth killers cuz they're more hit and run and don't chase much which isn't as fun.

But anyone else I don't mind and more often than not I'm getting mad at my teammates more than the killer and I'm actually going to go on a side rant here for a moment about tunneling.

The most annoying thing about tunneling to me is actually not getting tunneled myself cuz I know most of the time I can waste the killers time to a decent degree. I get more upset when my teammate that lasts 15 seconds in chase gets tunneled out because well they stand no chance and now I probably die over something I didn't have a ton of input over and that's very feels bad, I don't blame killers for this per se cuz it's generally seen as common knowledge getting the weak link out is a good tactic but watching it happen on the survivor side is so sad cuz the only real counter is find better teammates and SWF.

  • It's decent perk in comp where Ultimate Weapon is banned but even there it's only run on killers that can act on the information quickly like nurse and blight or stealth killers like Ghost Face although I'm unsure if that's because it's good on Ghost Face or because Ghost Face is given Lery's most of the time and it's good on the map.

Either way I do think it's a tad underrated and is a fair bit more decent than people give it credit for given it's real time information in your general vicinity that gets around distortion.

  • I mean we can just use the coded language some killers use and just call it "killer/survivor interaction".

  • Powerwash simulator but it's doing gens.

But you can kinda already do that with distortion tbh.

  • I'll say Poised, you have to be in chase when it activates and you have no control when it does activates and even then it only lasts for 10 seconds.

It's an empty perk slot 95% of the time.

  • You run NOED as a back up for your 3 gen regression perks as a plan B.

I run NOED, Bitter Murmur, Batteries Included, No Way Out because getting to end game was the plan all along.

    We are not the same.

  • Have you tried Infectious Fright?

I think it's a genuinely slept on perk at the moment, warns you of potential flashy or Buckle up plays.

  • @MechWarrior3 said:

Oh really? That would be nice, although I don’t recall seeing that. Where did you see this?

old road map but it got changed to what we got this past PTB so I assumed they moved it to later this year.

    image.png

  • I think Singularity is on the list to get changes but it got pushed back to the second half of the year.

  • You think you want this but then you get swamp and can't see anything with the low PoV because the grass is taller than you and it's miserable.

  • That's you're question and not about the random pinball machines and arcade cabinets with popcorn machines filled with I can't tell if it's intestines or poo scattered around the forest? Which is in the realm mind you where the only other map in it has trains sticking vertically out of the ground and rocks just floating midair in space.

Honestly if the theater entrance was just facing away from the woods instead of towards it it wouldn't be all that weird. I think the entity just took random landmarks in greenville and stapled them together because the way the moonstone cafe is in the theater parking lot doesn't quite look right either.

  • I don't like the k-pop aesthetic and find his personality grating. I actually like the power in a vacuum but if I want a ranged killer Plague, Artist or Unknown is more my thing.

  • I rarely ever tunnel but I also play an aggro af build, currently running Corrupt, Grim Embrace, Ultimate Weapon, Infectious Fright.

We start with most gens blocked and opening a locker and finding everyone, first hook on the most out of position person and blocking all the gens and opening a locker and doing it all again with Infectious Fright just warning us against flashies or sabo players, ultimate weapon is much better than bbq in this build because the screams are better for identifying survivors needed to complete our grim embrace. In this way gens are constantly blocked while survivors are panicked by constant screaming and blindness. It's meant to put a lot of pressure on them right from the beginning of the game and it usually works most of my games lately I win at 4 gens remaining.

I'm not telling you to copy my build or anything I'm just saying look at your build and ask yourself how it's putting pressure on the survivors cuz I'll be honest I see people run these pain res/pop/dms/grim builds and they don't really put pressure on survivors at all just slow the game down a bunch which is fine but if your chases take a long time you're just losing in slow motion and not actually taking advantage of the time they buy you.

I say forget what you think the meta is and pick a killer and build with purpose choosing how you're gonna pressure survivors to not do gens because that's the real secret to winning as a killer it's not stalling the game to take 20 minutes or tunneling one person and hope they don't run you for so long the gens get done I mean that can work but it's lazy and feels like playing to not lose rather than playing to win to me.

  • Hooking in the basement isn't usually worth it unless you're Trapper, Hag, Huntress, Bubba, Billy or maybe Executioner anyway.

It's just for the aura reading and in that regard I'll be curious to see how effective it is as an anti-tunnel perk.

1 … 6 7 8 9 10
