Being able to TP anywhere sounds like Unknown’s hallucinations without UVX.

As much as I despise going against Hag, her kit is still very unique and I’d rather not rid of her identity. I personally would just add back the ability to wipe traps with flashlights (but keep the regular M1 wipe) because it was the only counter to basement Hag, and wiping manually takes too much time to the point where she’ll already be on you.

I mean the hallucinations really are just slightly worse mint rag hag which mint rag base-kit would be ridiculous not asking for that just for triggered traps so you can actually traverse the map without worrying you're wasting your traps.

Yeah agreed I rate him high B tier too and he can be oppressive agains't casual players. But as you need two hits with his power good players will make you have harder time. It's pretty easy to get the weakened status away. Many survivors just come look at you when not in chase.

So two things with this. The first is if the survivors actually look behind them I test to see how good they actually are with that because many players will just run into walls and objects and I'll just go for the m1 in that case.

If they're actually very experienced and can look behind them without running into anything I tend to loop very unconventionally and hide myself behind objects while chasing and even just that throws off many survivors and they'll often just leave the loop if they don't know where I am or at the very least be confused enough to stand still to let me get a shot off.

A lot of Unknown's counterplay has it's own counterplay so it really does just become a knowledge game atp assuming you can hit shots. As long as you're mechanically good with unknown almost every situation with unknown becomes a 50/50.

  • I feel like this would have the same issue Mercy used to have in overwatch when rez was her ultimate.

It would just encourages one person with the perk to hide all game while everyone else does stuff and encourages the 3rd survivor to run at the killer and die so the survivors can all come back. It would both warp the gameplay loop and be incredibly unbalanced cuz killer wouldn't have anything half as strong as that would be. It's like the survivor version of NOED on crack.

  • All this looks good to me, kinda wish they made Lara's perks not named finesse more meta but I suppose most survivors only get 1 good perk if that.

Much much better compared to the last PTB.

  • Not S tier but much better then a lot of people on here give them credit for. People underestimate how disorienting Unknown can be to go against with how instant the teleport is as well as the projectiles going through walls.

As long as you're hitting your shots Unknown can get downs in scenarios 90% of the roster can't. People like to brush off the goo like oh they'll just loop wide and you'll never hit them but as long as you're aware of it all that means is you get survivors looping unoptimally for free.

  • We need stricter d/c penalties and remove the ability to suicide on hook. You don't have to get good at the game if you can just run away from any game not going your way.

  • Chucky, most boring killer in the game. I can't think of one interesting thing you can do with them.

  • I like the part where you said you'd "drop the science" and then provided no science and only conjecture.

Even the conjecture was wrong cuz I've had many games where someone suicided early and the game easily could have been a 3 or 4 man out of they actually played the game instead of throwing a fit that they only lasted 20 seconds on chase.

  • Nurse- Guess I don't get to play DBD this round and instead just hope they're bad

    Knight- Love losing to AI.

Blight/Billy- "Okay well they hooked across the the map so hopefully I should be able to get this gen done…aaaand they're here already."

  • Wouldn't be my exact ordering and I think you're being a little generous to Doc and Dredge but seems like a fine list overall.

  • They made them stronger than nurse on the ptb everyone collectively wondered how it took them 2 years to come out with something so obviously broken, most of the relevant changes got reversed so all we got left with was QoL number tweaks and now there's 3 more Twins mains in the world.

  • Vittorio because he's the type of pacifist that would let a village get slaughtered as long as it meant he could keep being a pacifist. Easily one of the dumbest survivors.

Jane is probably second for probably having the worst tome out of all the survivors.

  • 3. Unknown

    2. Huntress

    1. Artist

I will give an honorable mention to Skull Merchant because all her cosmetics are amazing it's just the default that's bad as well as an honorable mention to Dredge for being a walking cemetery.

  • Beast of Prey, please make this perk actually do something.

  • You got slimed and you're scared and confused on what could have done that, then you stare at Unknown and realize it's a goofy noodle boi and you're probably fine.

  • Based on lore Jake is my favorite and honestly might be the most tragic in that if you read his tome it seems like he was finally gonna make up with his dad right before the entity took him. A lot of survivors are taken either at their lowest points or while running from a killer or during an accident that would likely have killed them otherwise, I think Jake is unique in that he was taken right when his life was about to get better. Also I don't play him as much as I used to but Jake also generally has the best cosmetics with most of them being very outdoorsy and I think it fits the slasher vibe extremely well.

To go along with that idea it's not lore related but going from the July roadmap Lara is maybe about to get my favorite cosmetic ever to be released, it looks like a bear fit jacket with a bunch of claws and fangs and it's very cool.

  • Cheating is when you have friends.

  • I don't even know what people's problem with Merchant even is? I mean I do it's just not anything unique to her.

People complain about the hinder but clown does that and we don't have 9,000 clown threads.

Is it the drones injure people? We have a billion anti loop killers seems weird to hate on specifically this one.

Is it you have to crouch over to gens? Hag says hi.

I guess you could argue it's all of these but like even with all this she's only B tier.

  • I was but then the Elden Ring DLC came out and also Lara got revealed so hoarding cakes on Sable got less appealing.

Got like 350 cakes on Unknown at least.

  • I mean Cenobite doesn't really have mobility but is still good because his 4v1 pressure is insane against soloQ teams. I think that's the real issue is very few killers have actual good 4v1 and we need more killers that can bother multiple survivors at once.

  • It's low key a very good perk, used to run it on Artist as part of a lore build and was shocked how often it went off.

You haven't seen much Borrowed Time lately because they made this perk basekit. And the new Babysitter is insane, it gives half a minute of unconditional speedhack which lets you outrun every killer without a movement ability (and to be completely immune to a Nurse). It's scary to even imagine what coordinated SWFs will now start doing with it, especially combined with OTR and DS.

Yes they made BT basekit and yet kill rates are the highest they've been pretty much ever. Babysitter again will probably be the same, it won't do anything if you don't tunnel because beating anti-tunnel perks was solved YEARS AGO. The strategy is and almost always has been ping-ponging between two survivors instead of just hard tunneling one person.

I almost miss 5 second DS that wasn't shut off by conspicuous actions because this used to feel like common knowledge but everyone's gone soft and lazy since then. We used to deal with old DS/Unbreakable with God tier DH and 100% Iron Will that wasn't shut off by exhaustion perks with some adrens sprinkled in.

Now we cry about a buffed babysitter because now survivors aren't sitting ducks off the hook, sad times.

Yes, and they will be abused by SWFs. Like everything the devs do, when they try to help soloQ, they end up overbuffing SWFs, and whenever they buff killers - they end up destroying soloQ players. This is why it's pointless to fix the balance until the soloQ vs SWF disparity is addressed.

I have never seen a SWF use Borrowed Time tbh and I doubt Babysitter will be much different. They tend to be over altruistic more in terms of overly relying on flashlights and sabotages (which I'm still waiting for the sabo apocalypse this forum promised me was coming) in my experience which in some ways makes them easier to go against than soloQ just in terms of knowing what expect.

Only in terms of gameplay, not in terms of theme which i believe is equally as important to accompany the gameplay with, as without the theme to back it up with, it just isn't the same and the inclusion of non-horror IPs as chapters to me feels like the game's focus on it's horror theme is being lessen'd by it.

I mean Lara swims in rivers of blood watching her friends get killed by cultists and with how Nicholas Cage talks I'm not entirely convinced he doesn't worship Cthulhu so I don't think we're majorly off theme as of yet.

Because people wanna turn this game into Fortnite 2.0 rather than keeping it horror focused ig.

My guy, this games core gameplay loop is survivors trying to escape from killers trying to put them on meat hooks and sacrifice them to an eldritch spider god. This game will never not be horror focused lol.

  • I want the bloodborne collab to happen so we can finally say we got bloodborne on PC.

  • My favorite threads demanding buffs/nerfs are the kind who's only evidence is "it's obvious, just trust me". Really making your case there.

In any case no they're not overpowered in anyway they're just a prerequisite to making soloQ tolerable.

And I said I prefer horror movie Ash and I would swap TV Ash for him, and I said horror Lara still isn't horror enough for my tastes. I don't even know what you're arguing, other than trying to vilify people for their opinions on horror.

I wasn't even talking to you to begin with, I was just saying I prefer ordinary joe schmoes as my horror characters, and you butted in to complain about it. This is a waste of time.

Lmao that's dramatic. I was literally just making the point that it's ill-founded to suggest Lara doesn't fit in the game compared to additions we already have. Mostly because I think trying to gatekeep what counts as horror and belongs in DBD only hurts the community. I didn't see this kinda push back when we got rainbow six siege even which makes this especially bizarre.

  • @Caiman said:

So most horror version of Lara bad but least horror version of Ash good

I said I didn't care about the TV show version of Ash and preferred the original movie depictions. If it was up to me, I would have put in his Evil Dead 2 depiction 1:1. Don't put words in my mouth, and stop throwing around buzzwords you don't understand the meaning of. Make a real argument.

And I don't care about the Tomb Raider remakes either. I never liked the idea of taking the cool and confident OG Lara Croft and turning her into a scared little girl. I guess it fits choosing that version for DbD instead, but I still don't care for it.

I did make an argument, you're the one cherry picking what's valid from evil dead to acknowledge and what's valid from tomb raider to acknowledge.

The version of Ash we have is from a show that's more comedy before horror, the version of Lara we're getting is from a game that while not strictly horror literally took inspiration from a horror movie. It's silly to ignore both these facts and say Ash is fine but Lara isn't.

  • @Caiman said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3750900#Comment_3750900

I don't care about the TV show. In Evil Dead 1 and 2, he is an ordinary everyman trapped in overwhelming danger. Even in Army of Darkness (which is barely a horror movie anyway), he's still a pretty regular guy who just happens to be thrust into a heroic position out of necessity, but nothing he does is all that special. And those are his most popular depictions.

This is hilarious to me when the TV show version is literally the version we got. Meanwhile we're getting the 2013 version of Lara which is the most horror tomb raider ever was. So most horror version of Lara bad but least horror version of Ash good tells me how absolutely arbitrary these complaints about Lara's inclusion in DBD really are and it's literally just gatekeeping for gatekeeping's sake.

  • @Caiman said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3750787#Comment_3750787

That's what makes them good. I like average folk, horror characters should be vulnerable underdogs or else there's no tension, that's basic storytelling.

By this logic was Ash a bad inclusion? By the time we get to the TV show the deadites felt more like annoyances to Ash than actual threats.

  • I don't think it's really fair to judge survivor inclusions the same way we would killer inclusions, like if for example Davy Jones showed up as a licensed killer that would obviously be very dumb. But survivors are just that, survivors.

Really the only criteria would be experiencing and surviving an attack of a supernatural nature and in that aspect I don't see Lara as any different as Jill, Bill, Steve, Cheryl, etc.

  • I guess we'll just ignore the 2013 game which is the version we got was literally inspired by The Descent. I swear the DBD community is secretly in a competition with the Dark Souls community to see who can gatekeep the most.

In Japan (Asia servers), it's not that common to see people giving up or trolling the moment they realize it's the Skull Merchant. However, it's not entirely nonexistent. Rather than giving up specifically because it's the Skull Merchant, there are more people who get upset and give up if they get hooked early in the match, regardless of the killer.

Interesting, that's about what I would expect. The most recent Asian tier lists I could find had her bottom of B tier or top of C so I figured they didn't think going against her was a big deal.

  • Botany/Kindred/Strength in Shadows/Wicked.

The way Wicked shuts down back to hook killers is crazy.

Besides that it's just self-healing and aura reveal, I just need to not be one shot and info and that feels like enough for me.

  • This is a very random thought but I wonder if Japan D/Cs against Merchant like the west does or if they actually figured her out.

    1. On some maps hes not stronger but indeed worse to play against than nurse
    2. 3% haste as base kit and auto aim on biopods is a huge buff for already strong killer

The 3% Is just worse soma family photo which felt almost mandatory to run so in that aspect he's actually going to be worse, it's just to allow you to run other add-ons. The auto aim is to help people who play with a controller or on console it does nothing for regular PC Singularity's, I don't know why we're against the idea of making killers more accessable.

    3. Not so many times, but this times are enough to know that buff this killer is not okay. The most miserable soloq game was against him

A bad soloQ game doesn't mean a character is broken lol. As long as your using your EMPs efficiently his power is basically just surveillance. Against good teams you basically have to slipstream midchase and I'd argue if the Singularity is good enough to consistently do that they deserve the downs.

  • @CleanseThis said:

    Stridor should be buffed aswell

Let's be honest we could buff stridor and still nobody would use it except Spirit players.

    1. He's not Nurse, not even close.
    2. As been said most of this is QoL
    3. I refuse to believe you go against Singularity enough to warrant this amount of hate.

No, you're wrong. Giving Knight a minimum trail length for guard placement just makes him hard to use for no reason. He already had an issue of having to stand back so far from a wall or pallet just to place the guard, similar to Twins and Artist's limitations. Scamper made it to where Chucky had agency in chase, like old Spirit or old Deathslinger. The killer had advantage in chase instead of the survivor. The devs create scenarios where a player "can't do anything," but if it's a issue that survivors suffer from, they remove it. So now you have the opposite scenario where, instead of the survivor "not having gameplay," the killer doesn't have gameplay. Why would you ever Scamper now? Tell me one instance, other than a survivor running in a straight line after a vault.

Agency through free hits =/= Skill Expression.

  • It's almost Knight's core design is garbage and they're impossible to make fun for both sides. Knight needs a full rework but barring that these changes are pretty good.

  • The chase with hillbilly is fun trying to make him bump but there is a frustrating aspect to playing against Billy which is the time it takes Billy to hook then immediately be on somebody else creates an obnoxious amount of pressure.

  • Sometimes (maybe even most of the time) this communities biggest enemy is itself.

You couldn't actually enforce this but if everyone had to play both roles the community would be a much better place, too often the conversation is poisoned by people that only play one side and only know half the story.

  • I mean I know a lot of Xeno mains that would disagree with you. Personally I do prefer the star map but e helmet is still very good compared to most of Xeno's add-ons most of which are either gimmicky or straight up bad.

For reference E Helmet, Map, Cereal and Headset I think are the only good ones. I know some people like bolt but I think that's a gimmick and you should be using tail over windows rather than vaulting and egg is unnecessary when you can get your power back in like 4 seconds in the tunnels.

  • I feel like it's pretty clear carnifex is for pallet breaking, assassin is when you want to split pressure and jailer is when you wanna try and pincer a survivor.

  • @Backmon said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3745714#Comment_3745714

Yes i try. My main problem with singularity that he is much stronger 3 gen keeper than knight or even skull merchant. At least playing solo with random teammate we can broke 3 gen against them, but never against singularity

I mean I have heard that a lot of the people that played old Merchant went to Singularity but I've never ran into that, I barely run into Singularity ever as it is. I would imagine the anti 3gen system would combat this somewhat and EMPs would do the rest and you'd eventually win it just would be very tedious.

However I'd argue this is just a symptom of trap killers as a whole and games against them take longer on average with the exception of maybe Trapper but Hag and Merchant definitely yes.

  • The same people complaining about this change are probably the same people that thought RPD's 3rd floor was fine tbh. They just want situations where hooking is impossible.

This is one of the healthiest changes BHVR has ever done and will make maps like midwich, swamp and the game feel better to play on and will end unnecessary slugging in a lot of cases.

  • Have you tried picking up an EMP?

  • @Marioneo said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3745337#Comment_3745337

Carnifex can chop a pallet in 1.5 secs its way more free then scamper was they made him boring for both sides it was more exciting working with your guard to get a survivor

This is definitely a concern but I don't know how you fix knight then because getting pincered in by knight with no counterplay feels terrible on the survivor side and going back to that cannot be an option. At least this way you can try to bait the stun and that's at least some sort of skillful interaction on each side.
