See that’s what’s tough to me. I personally think 8 hooks is significantly harder and more skill requiring than a 3k even as well as letting everyone have more fun but it seems from here that my streak is deemed invalid and doesn’t count if I do that. For it to be a valid streak it seems I’m forced to use less skill and make everyone have a bad time.

So the community wants people to play more fair but at the same time encourages the opposite.

    So three thoughts here

    1. I don't think it's fair to say one takes more skill than the other I think it's different skills cuz you don't have to worry about gens for the 8k but you don't have to care about tunneling for the 3k.

    2. The forums don't represent the entire community lol it doesn't really matter what people tell you on here. If you wanna do it then do it.

    3. Fairness is subjective but also DBD more than any other game I've played has this weird obsession to being nice to the other side that I don't really get. You get stomped in any other game it's considered part of the game and you move on but in DBD if you stomp in a game people act like you committed a war crime it's bizarre to me personally.

Nah, it is just that everything gets turned off in Endgame. Just so the Killer can feel somewhat good about a pity Kill.

Yes, I understand that there is nothing else to do at this point, but it is funny that Killers think it is fine that they suck all game and then think they deserve that one Kill.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3682871#Comment_3682871

"You do realise one could easily turn around and say the AFC is a pity unhook don't you?"

    Not really?

And well, comparing Comp to Public Matches is already wrong.

Borrowed Time is unironically a clutch endgame perk just nobody uses it.

  • I mean he only has 7 minutes for all of you and with four survivors he can only spend 1 minute and 45 seconds with each of you. That's why they all have to tunnel.

  • For my streaks it's 3k or 4k, because well the role is killer so a win should be kills and that's what I enjoy but even beyond that I would honestly find trying to two hook everyone a massive chore and it just wouldn't be fun for me to do.

That being said there are many types of streaks and if you wanted to do a 8 hook 0k streak I see no reason it should be deemed invalid.

  • I suppose hypothetically they could code it like MoM where it doesn't count as endurance and it could still deactivate after you use it.

I don't see a problem with this tbh.

yeah, there certainly are perks that are shells of their old selves that seem pointless to run anymore.

    Corrupt is still worthwhile

Hey those are all survivor perks there are killer perks like that too like Ruin, Undying, CoB, Overcharge kinda so now instead of gen regression and stall we have use deadlock, pain res, DMS, Grim Embrace which is... passive regression and stall....oh..... okay well we still have to kick gens with pop sometimes!

  • It's the number 1 perk in comp lmao.

  • People should really be using Wicked more, 20 seconds of aura reading to avoid the killer has saved me almost every game I don't think I'm ever the first to die since I started using it

  • The ptb will happen before then so hopefully they buff it to at least be mediocre instead of game throwing.

  • I see a lot of survivors complaining about tunneling at 4 gens not understanding that the number in the corner is deceiving, if there are 4 gens left but 2 are at 80% you're not really at 4 gens in a split second if you let up you can be at 2 gens which is dangerous territory for the killer.

A lot of killers aren't tunneling then to "be mean" it's because they have the macro sense to know the game is a lot closer than it appears.

  • I mean they just nerfed STBFL and Sloppy and buffed Grim Embrace, if that's not a signal they want killers relying on gen regression and slowdown idk what is.

Not saying I agree with that mind you but seeing the balance changes lately it seems unlikely either of those perks are going anywhere.

  • Reminds me of a time I was in soloQ against a Knight and we 4 man escaped and instead of gg this Meg decided to lambast me for dropping shack pallet after looping shack like 3 times. I was so confused and even knight couldn't believe they said such a thing after we did so well.

I feel like players hear about how good shack pallet is and think it must be protected at all costs not realizing that doesn't mean you never actually use it, it's such a bizarre thing. I promise shack pallet will still be there next game if you use it, it's okay to drop it.

  • I haven't lost a killer game this entire season so far but a few of these games have come very close and I acknowledge I probably try much harder than the average killer.

Looking through the lens of a more casual killer I can see the game being fairly balanced tbh. If you're finding games too easy and are bored I suggest playing lower tier killers like Freddy and Trapper and see if the game is still too easy for you.

  • Premonition should....do literally anything else.

I have no idea how to fix it show the killers aura to your team and then put it on a minute cool down or something.

  • Huntress buff is hilariously overdone, congrats you made a low A tier killer mid A tier.

  • Can we trade teams? I keep getting baby survivors and I'm starting to feel bad killing them all.

    in Rant Comment by Yharwick
  • First thing is Artist is A tier I'm not sure where you got the idea she isn't. But Dredge yeah a lot of players get overwhelmed by nightfall so they can do well even if they're not strong or consistent.

As for the larger topic at hand I'll be honest I get very confused when "casual" players get upset they don't win very often when by their own admission they don't want to try much. You loaded up decided you wanted to play chill and lost to people that wanted to win more than you. I see no issue here.

I do however agree matchmaking is a joke at the moment. The amount of people I play against as killer that have no idea what they're doing is honestly depressing. I have Xeno games where nobody sets up turrets, Artist games where people don't bother repelling birds, Plague games where everyone cleanses immediately. I get no joy from winning these games but sometimes it's all I get. I absolutely agree with the idea matchmaking should be stricter, I believe people don't mind waiting longer for higher quality games because rn matchmaking barely exists.

  • Note to self hoard all the anni cakes I get in a few months for this event next year.

  • Understandable.

I've been doing that knowing it's obvious and it's funny how many killers just don't know what to do about it. Some hook me anyway and just camp the hook, some slug me and some give up on the chase entirely and let me heal.

Generally I feel hooking in the basement and camping the hook is most effective FYI.

Big agree on that last part, sometimes I feel like the "chase me please" survivors are even more detrimental than the hide-at-all-costs ones unless they're god-tier juicers.

Distortion is a fine perk, since it requires you to put in a little bit of effort to maintain it and all it does is block aura perks from working on you.

Question, since this is what I really want to know, how would you feel if scratch marks were just gone all together, or just reduced to not be constant? Personally, I'd be just fine if they were totally gone, I don't care for them regardless of which role I'm playing, but I want more input on the matter since I never see anybody else talk about it.

Gone completely would be too strong but basekit Lightweight wouldn't be an issue. That's not a change I would advocate for mind you but I wouldn't complain if it happened either.

  • What's that smell? The sweet blood, oh, it sings to me. It's enough to make a man sick...

Unless the competitive mode had extra "rewards" or greater compensation, no one would play it. Why would I willingly make my matches more difficult when I can just stay in the casual queue

Put a 1.5x multiplier on the end of season BP and throw in some banners and charms, that should do it.

  • I find stealth to be very viable, my hardest games as killer are when I struggle to mind a survivor quickly for first chase. Getting as much progress as possible before the first hook or two is what largely determines escapes in my experience.

Being extremely stealthy while death hook is very strong as well as being able to deny the 3v1 is also powerful especially if the killer is actively trying to find that person while ignoring others.

However if you're only stealthy and can't be bothered to protect your death hook teammates or stealthy at the cost of gen progress then is when it becomes a hindrance.

People understand that last part that's why we have so many Distortion threads as most people think that's the type of people Distortion users are which isn't completely unwarranted but I think many players don't understand the former two concepts very well.

The person who actively seeks out the killer because "chases are fun m1 boring" are putting their team at risk just as much as the overly immersive survivor.

  • @Seraphor said:

The main problem with this is that what you're describing isn't 'competitive' it's opportunisticly oppressive.

People who play like this don't do it for the challenge, they do it for an easy win. They want the power fantasy. These people will not play a "competitive mode" because that would be making their games actively more challenging. They will continue to play "casual mode" so that they can bully weaker opponents.

I disagree if you look at comp DBD tunneling and camping is pretty much a guarantee because creating the 3v1 as quickly as possible is the best way to get momentum and yet at the same time 3ks and 4ks are nowhere near as common as they are in public games.

Because let's be honest the average person in pubs will last 15 seconds in chase unless they're against an absolute baby killer. How is this fair for the killer when they lose in either scenario? If they try their hardest they're a baby stomper tryhard but if they hold back the game gets stale because they can't actually try and maybe the survivors escapes and it's ggez killer from survivors who normally would would never escape and think their CoL/Flashbang/Residual/Blast Mine build actually did something for once.

We need a mode for survivors and killers who try and know the game at a deeper level aren't demonized.

  • Imagine if most people lasted longer than 10 seconds in chase. Nothing discourages tunneling like actually being able to loop.

  • I had two killers DC against me in a row today which I don't think I've ever seen before so it wouldn't surprise me if they changed something.

windows / balance landing / DH ( I consider "dead hard" an anti-tunnel perk)/ strength in the shadow (but I don't like this perk, I just use it to try something different... soon I will return to my LOVED Deja vu😍 )

I think I had 30/40% escapes this week (I didn't do an exact count). if I had used Deja vu I'm sure I would have escaped more often

I'll go again since I got skipped.

I actually see BL/DH fairly often and I actually kinda like it as a combo most killers only expect one exhaustion perk so it can throw them off when you pull out the DH. Windows is obviously good and while I like SiS a ton I really think it needs Botany with it as it takes slightly too much time otherwise but very solid 8/10.

My build is still Botany/Strength in Shadows/Kindred/Wicked.

Win rate bumped up slightly since I last posted to 62% escape rate out of the 45 games I've played since last Wednesday.

  • I literally cannot remember the last time someone flashlight/flashbang saved against me. It's had to have been over a month, I know I've mentioned this perk a few times now and I don't want to anymore but like.... Infectious Fright.

kinderd because q sool q are headless chickens without it. We'll make it cause u know that one survivor gonna be begging for a heal under hook 🤣. A exhaustion perk and unbreakable! pretty solid build 7.5

Solo Q build- object, metal of man, overcome, bond.

Excape rate around 30% to 35.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3680072#Comment_3680072

    6 out of 10

I get the idea here although the object seems counterintuitive since I figure you don't wanna be found and just take hits for the team. 5/10 because the idea is there I just figure MoM builds are never reliable even more so in soloQ

    Botany/Strength in Shadows/Wicked/Kindred

Escape rate is 61% so far this week.

  • Not a true counter but Infectious Fright tells you if anyone is nearby where you downed a person so you know whether to be on guard or not.

  • Yes but only because it would lowkey go crazy with Pentimento.

  • Xeno and the star chart or E-Helmet, there's no reason to not always run one of them.

Blood Moon is a very cool event. Bhvr put work to satisfy just for some people to talk negatively which obviously is gonna happen but I haven't seen much talk about how good it is accept the outfits. The outfits are great and the gameplay is wonderful on both sides, ( my opinion) I feel a lot of people who have negative thoughts for blood points but that's not the point. Just relax and enjoy yourself, games are for entertainment, not severe frustration, unless its your career than I can understand. Nothings perfect.

They literally said "we want this to be the time to get BP" blood points are literally the point of the event lmao.

  • I mean it's kinda just 2nd anni except you don't get loaded with BP offerings after....

I don't think it's a bad event per se but it's underwhelming for sure considering they said they wanted it to be the biggest BP event of the year and it might be but just barely.

  • No but gaming journalism being nothing but being bad faith click bait is nothing new.

  • Tbf you weren't really descriptive with what happened. Like yes the killer decided to play serious after falling behind and then won but it's unlikely it was completely out of your team's control.

Now I'll grant you I've noticed recently the biggest downfall of teams in soloQ is either playing hook roulette and always having someone on hook and being unable to reset and/or someone being tunneled out.

Against the former there's no other way to say it but someone needs to actually last in chase so the rest of the team can reset and if that doesn't happen you're just not gonna win. Against tunneling either again the person has to be able to last in chase or there needs to be some sort of anti-tunnel perks in play like DS, OTR, BT, Babysitter, Wicked, etc just something to punish the tunnel attempts if there's none of that then you don't have a chance. Also people need to be pressuring gens while this happens, way too often I see someone running for their life and the teammates are doing dull bones or chests or just following the killer around ready to miss a flashlight save and get hit. Do the gens and actually make the time the person in chase is buying mean something.

  • Take loops a little wide

If the Unknown is in a chase with someone and you see a hallucination always dispell it. They're much worse if you take their mobility away.

In chase they're not dissimilar from most ranged killers holding W while putting objects between you nullifies a lot of their power.

Look behind you for a second then look at where you're going and alternate. There's a linger effect on looking at them so you don't actually have to look at them all the time.

I am personally however not a fan of those turret side quest. It barely has much impact since Alien can get its power back within a few seconds. Most Killer would simply not chase as a killer without power. This makes the game against Alien very macro heavy but this is not what the majority would prefere.

What some people expect are more fun killers for survivors. And those are usually fast pasted movement based type of killers like Blight, Wesker or Billy. The cool part of that: Killer and survivor should actually be on the same page here. All those named killers are not only insanly fun but also very strong.

But currently we are getting mostly killer that put a thing at a loop and get a hit or at least forces the survivor to not play the tile at all. Look at the releases: Knight, Skull Merchant in some regard Alien and yes, also Chucky. Chucky still has the potental to be a fun killer, but the power is just close to anavoidable. Scamper and S&D works perfectly hand in hand and often times leaves the Survivor with little to no choice. Please dont come with the "but survivors are not supposed to last forever" argument since this is not about that. Its about how a fun killer should look like.

It's a matter of opinion, personally I love playing against macro killers much more then mobility killers because it feels more strategic than running around the same pallet 6 times.

As far Xeno specifically goes yes Xeno can get it's power back very quickly but that's the point, it's testing can you keep pressure on the Xeno with turrets or do you fall behind on keeping turrets up and let the Xeno start downing people. It's just as intense as going against say Billy but in a more team based way instead of 1v1.

  • I feel like Huntress's perks in general just got completely forgotten about by the devs it's pretty sad.

  • I personally think the side quest killers like Xeno and Singularity are great, everyone complains about gens being boring. Here are killers that give you something else to do to be useful to your team and people don't wanna do that either. I truly do not know what some people expect.

  • I'm pretty sold on them being bottom of A tier atp.

-Some of the best map mobility in the game

-Can hit from range and also decent antiloop

    -Good add-ons

-Can get multiple health states at once if survivors try to bodyblock

    -Can hit through walls

While it's true a lot of people don't know how to play against them yet it's also true most people don't know how to play as them yet. I don't think most people are feathering the UVX for better hallucination placement or blocking LoS when UVX is charging. Unknown is actually a really well designed killer because all of it's counterplay also has counterplay so whoever understands the match up more will probably win.

  • I'm not kidding you I've never seen someone do the invocation and then score more than 8k points.

At least boons give you 1.5k and some marginally useful effect. Invocations are DOA without some serious help.

yes it was. eruption was 22% pick-rate perk. it was #1 perk followed by pain res. I don't use ultimate weapon on most my builds. the biggest issue is that it alert survivor that they've been spotted which encourages survivor to pre-run and play defensive. It is best used on mobile killers that can close-gap quickly.

Ultimate weapons falls under an anti-meta perk. The main strength is being able bypass distortion and turn off Window of opportunity. It can help support play-styles such as scouting near hook, tunneling survivors off death hook and helping killer close out end games but other information perk are able to do same thing.

Tell me with total seriousness buckle up + For the People is balanced because it doesn't show up in the top 10 anywhere. Usage rate is such a terrible argument for balance

  • 1. I've seen UW run on a bunch of different killers not just the ones you listed. Nightlight's statistics are not comprehensive.

    2. Ultimate Weapon was only in the shrine for the first time a week ago since then I've been seeing it a lot more often. Keep an eye on it cuz I expect the usage rate to go up.

    3. Even if it's not the most used info perk that doesn't make it not the best. Artist is one of the best killers in the game but is one of the least played. Usage Rate =/= power level.

  • Opposite for me so far this season since I started keeping record of my results.

On survivor I'm at 20 escapes and 10 deaths

    On killer I'm at I think 2 2k's and 15 3k and 4k's.

Although in a sense that's also proof of the matchmaker not working as I'm far above the average for both killer and survivor so far.

1 … 5 6 7 8 9 10
