I read what you wrote well, the thing is that different killers have different MMR, you have simply played too few games for the selection system to really start selecting the "right" survivors for you.

I beg you, continue for at least a couple of weeks, and write again about how the selection has changed.

I assure you, after a certain number of matches, you will be offered only SWF or hidden cheaters to play with. And there will be no talk of winning 48 games anymore.

My guy I have been playing since 2016 what are you saying lmao.

Everything is incredibly simple, you either have too low a rating, or you play different killers. Try to play 100-200 games on only one killer at 4K. After that, the rating system will select only SWF / cheaters, and you will understand what a real game in DBD is, right now I'm playing only hunter, and every match of mine is cybersport survivors. Good luck.

35 games in a week? Dude, you're not playing the game. I play 35 games a day. I'm just saying that you can't judge the game right now because the matchmaking system hasn't put you in the right zone yet.

At the moment my games are torture and I don't enjoy playing anymore. I plan to take a break for half a year.

I don't think you actually read what I wrote, I pretty much play exclusively Hag and Twins and that's 35 wins on each of them not combined. Since then the Twins win streak ended with a 2k the other day but the Hag streak is still going and I'm on 48 wins. I also play a lot of survivor as well which is why that's not higher besides me just having other things to do lol.

  • @BorisDDAA said:

The matchmaking basically doesn't exist so the survivor team will get screwed over by one survivor who is not good. Usually this was not a problem back then because the maps had way more resources and "wasting time" aka not doing gens was less punishing. Anyway, only a 4 man swf that wants to win should challenge you. Everything else is fodder

Yeah this is very true, I recall a game I had as Xeno quite a while back and beginning of the game I was getting destroyed like the team was very good at looping and I had keep abandoning chase to avoid wasting too much time but then I found the 4th survivor who was considerably worse and tunneled them out quite easily and the other three players couldn't handle the 3v1 afterwards and I won a game I probably shouldn't have. Survivor is quite unforgiving in that way where if you have even one mad teammate and the killer picks up on it that's probably enough to end the game there.

  • @I_Cant_Loop said:

I play killer about 50% of the time and the difficulty level seems fine to me. Some matches I stomp the survivors (especially if someone DCs or goes next), some matches I get 3-4 hooks and no kills, and everything in between.

I have to say that every time I see posts from people claiming that they never lose as killer, I am highly skeptical. Even the best pro streamers don’t go for weeks without losing like you claim. If you really are this good, why don’t you stream or play competitively? I’m not saying this to be rude or dismissive - it’s just difficult to believe. Winning this often would put you in like the top 0.01% of players in the world.

I don't stream personally because I get social anxiety, I don't think I'd be very entertaining lol. As for comp, there's like no reason for me to? There's not really any money in it and I don't find comp that interesting. I don't think my winning streak is that crazy I'm probably at around 35 wins in a row with hag and twins each as I alternate between the two and I know I'm nowhere near any records or anything. I mean I know Dowsey did like 200 wins in a row with Twins when they first came out and they were much worse and much more buggy then.

  • Bill for sure, he needs more cosmetics and Bill talking ######### to the killer during chase would be S tier. Plus if he got his own L4D inspired lobby music would be great too.

  • I only ever see it at 25% for survivor. I could believe it's broken rn but I could also believe nobody wants to play survivor rn.

  • Yeah soloQ is probably the most miserable it's ever been, I still escape occasionally but I feel like it's because the killer is either unbelievably bad or just against a lower tier killer like ghost face or legion. Some of it is just survivor players like the decision making of most survivors is questionable at best but it also really does feel like most killers are tuned for SWFs these days.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

If you view this primarily as a PVP game, then yes, solo queue is obviously in an unacceptable state right now. You lose ~60-70% of your games by design, and only half of those games will involve actual gameplay. The other half will be over before you've even seen the killer, or you're slugged for the better part of the trial.

But I don't think the devs view the game through the same lens as the playerbase for the most part. Many of the things that frustrate players are features to the devs. It's why things have to essentially catch on fire before they're addressed. A former dev is on record as saying that being able to camp and tunnel is a feature of DbD. Let that sink in.

It's why so many design decisions baffle the playerbase. The playerbase thinks this is a PVP game. The devs think this is a survival horror game that they very reluctantly balance when the community is at each other's throats over one issue or another.

I'd be a lot more willing to buy into the survival horror framing if maps weren't bright af, everyone wasn't running around wearing neon and "surviving" meant more than holding m1 on a gen.

The fact I've heard that many people that play this game are not especially into horror normally is not a coincidence. I know most things aren't going to be scary after thousands of hours but there are clear decisions BHVR has made over the years that have pushed DBD from being horror to just horror themed, most of them were for gameplay reasons but nobody is ready for the conversation of "the more information you give someone the less they have to be scared about".

  • @danielmaster87 said:

Who cares? Speed differential, schmeed differential. You seriously can't be arguing that a killer slowing survivors down, or being fast/slow themselves, is bad design. That would implicate almost every killer in the game. I'm for standardizing all killers to 115%, so that it's 1 less complication when it comes to balancing. And I'd also like to see a game state where killers don't have to rely on "fast fast fast" perks or killers to compete, which they do now. But what you're suggesting is so broad sweeping that you'd almost have to make a new game for it.

If killers are never able to catch good survivors at loops without them screwing up, which is pretty much the case now, the killer role becomes unviable outside of a select few (Nurse, Blight, Spirit). Notice that all of those killers are strong because they can play the catch-up game with survivors, getting to them before they can get to somewhere safe/the next safe place. At the end of the day, killers who go a different direction than them are more interesting, because there's more room for counterplay, for both sides preferably, not just survivors.

You may think them dull, but I think killers being strong enough to get you, but you being knowledgeable enough to waste as much time as possible, is what makes this game great, regardless of if slowdown is involved in the gameplay loop. Assuming there is something inherently wrong with 1 killer's gameplay loop, don't y'all want to go against multiple different strong killers, instead of just 1? Why do we always have to shout down the lastest decent killer? It's more rewarding to have to keep your counterplay practiced and updated across multiple killers, not just a handful.

I am because that's not interesting, it's the same reason I don't find clown or blight interesting to play against. Because there's nothing interesting about "I win because my numbers are way better than yours" mechanically speaking. Also it doesn't implicate that many killers tbh? Clown, SM, Freddy, Blight, Chucky, Wesker, Billy and you could argue Oni but I think they're a little more complicated than that and that's really it.

Also I'm not arguing against killers being strong like I even said at the beginning of the post this is not a thread about power level it's about power design. Plague is strong but is infinitely more interesting because you have to decide if you're in a cleanse or not cleanse situation, Spirit is strong but guessing her pathing and mind gaming her is fun because there's actual thought being put into looping her. Singularity is strong but they're manageable if you juggle EMPs correctly. Like you can have strong killers and still have them be interesting to go against but losing to just numbers is never going to be interesting to me. You asked if I want different multiple strong killers to go against and yes that is absolutely what I want but I want those killers to do unique things instead of just "I make you slow" or "I'm very fast" because we've done that like 8 times now.

  • I forgot how ######### blue Macmillan used to be.

Honestly I feel like something was lost in the map updates where they're nowhere near as creepy as they used to be. Like people think DBD is dark now without filters? I wish those people could experience the old version of bottom floor Gideon, you couldn't see #########.

  • And it still isn't enough to kill Chris.

SM didn't use to have slowdown. Her old kit was about map control unlike any other killer before, and as such, she was reworked because survivors found her boring. Freddy also didn't use to have slowdown, he was also reworked because he was both deemed weak and boring.

Also, Hag and Twins are the second and third killer I play the most, so we both know how much fun survivor players think they are. I have been in the game since Legion released, and believe me when I say that the only killers that never got an uproar being called boring are Nemesis, Demogorgon, Billy, and Xenomorph.

Have you noticed how lately almost every killer has a projectile ability? Freddy got a projectile, Vecna, and Dracula also have projectiles. Even a freaking dog became a projectile. BHVR is just too scared to make something different, because whenever they do it, people complain. SM and Knight are prime examples. Fun should not be a metric to decide whether to rework a character.

I suppose I'm using fun as shorthand for being interactive. Freddy I don't think is interactive because either they hit you with the snare and after you're hit there's not really anything you can do because you become glacial or he misses and then he's back to being sharp hand joe until he gets his power back.

Which I don't mind that as far as playing them goes that Freddy isn't for me and I'm 100% okay with that not every killer is going to be but playing against them is still a slog. Like I don't like playing Huntress or Wesker at all but playing against them is fine because dodging them at least has some interactivity that usually always feels fair. But Freddy you get hit with a snare which arn't that hard to hit and it's just not fun waiting to get hit because there isn't much you can do and I think that's a failure of game design. Singularity can be a little BS in chase too if you don't have an EMP but at least I can appreciate the complexity of how much is happening with the pods, the infection, how much is going on with overclock it doesn't always feel fair but it is an interesting design and I can appreciate that. With Freddy he's committed the sin of being both not really interactive and also ridiculously simple and I think that's what bothers me about him.

  • @GlamourousLeviathan said:

Before the buff, I used to play him quite frequently. Now that he has been buffed, I am enjoying him even more. Stop trying make fun, which is something subjective, generalized. Some characters are supposed to be niche, and that's fine, every multiplayer game has those, otherwise BHVR will just keep releasing Huntress and Pyramid Head clones.

I'm a Hag/Twins main, believe me I'm the last person that wants BHVR to stop releasing the same killer over and over because original killers are awesome but that's my point. Freddy is literally just Clown and SM all over again, it's not really niche to be a killer where their power is slow the survivor down we already have that. It's kinda weird to me that we have a killer that supposedly brings survivors to a completely different world but that world is largely just cosmetic and just means Freddy can start doing his clown impression.

  • @Grigerbest said:

You did 4k as a Hag with no perks, addons, and no tunneling? Does survivors were afk? Killed themselves on first hook?

Freddy 4k before the rework? Nah.

    The results are VERY questionable.

I can confidently tell - these results are indicating on how bad the survivors are playing the game.

Let alone on how often they're giving up.

If you were playing against an average team who knows how to play the game (with the same no perks, no addons, no tunneling) - most of the killer names on your results would've been painted in blue.

Hag is one of the killers that needs perks the least. When Hag gets stomped it's because survivors know how to counter her power and no perks can really help you if that's the case cuz she has poor synergy with most perks. However 9/10 survivors barely know what hag does and aren't very careful so she destroys most randoms especially if you can get a basement hook and Grim Pantry can have some disgusting 3 gens especially if you get 2 gens on the dock.

  • -Hag becomes 115

    -More Boons

-Swamp rework (added points if it includes an actual swamp at least give me ankle deep water)

    -More monster killers

-Nurse gets reworked into something that isn't completely busted.

  • Honestly I just think they need a range increase, 3/5 booms encourage you to loop the killer in the boon area and I don't want to practically show the killer where it is just to use the perks. Even just increasing it to a 30m radius would be great.

I don't think boons are even that bad, at least not as bad as people suggest just situational. CoH is a great team reset perk, shadowstep can be really annoying if you can set it up in a main building, exponential is fantastic at countering killers that choose to slug which we're seeing and increase of recently, dark theory is basically weaker shadowstep where it can get value in a main building but it's otherwise very mediocre. Illumination is.... okay illumination is trash I can't defend that one lol they really need to give it a map wide bond effect and it'd be excellent.

  • But do I run anti-Garden or anti-Badham is the real question 🤔

  • Freddy is just clown with built in slowdown because you have to go to a clock every other minute now lol.

I don't think Freddy is OP or anything far from it but I feel like he's everything that makes a killer not fun to go against rolled into one.

  • One or two more cosmetics like this and if the rework makes her remotely powerful like even like B tier and I could see SM's pick rate being top 5-6.

It's sad cuz I don't think previous SM was that bad they just had to not give her every status effect in the game. Keep the way drones the way they were but only have claw traps make you broken and oblivious then if you get scanned with a trap on make it fully recharge the battery and that's it.

I feel like BHVR felt like they HAD to give SM a chase power because the community demanded it but the community was 100% wrong here. Everything in SM's lore suggests she stalks her prey and then corners them and her power reflects that. Her power is NOT a chase power and trying to force into being one lead to so many problems. I think the core power leads her to wanting to be a Hag/Wraith hybrid. Lay traps that get you a health state the way Hag's traps can get you that first hit and then when they're weakened get the jump on them like wraith because a lot of SM's cosmetics give cyber ninjas vibes so lean into that power fantasy and make her a killer that requires planning and then striking when the survivor is unaware and weakened. I don't think this is that hard I think BHVR is just terrified of anymore backlash to this character which is unfortunate.

  • Skull Merchant looks like a monster hunter character (for those that play it really gives me odogaron armor vibes) while Jane has neon outfit 283 with dumb ribbons that give up any possibility of stealth.

SM and it isn't remotely close, it genuinely makes me wish the killer camera was 3rd person cuz it sucks you wouldn't see it in action most of the time.

  • Can only give my opinion of how Freddy feels to play against. The snare feels like looping a more threatening Doctor, it's very possible to dodge but you should get hit if you don't in most scenarios and feels pretty fair.

Dream Pallets are a joke, very easy to make them out and dodge, they're hardly a factor in my experience so far.

The teleport is still very good and healing against Freddy now gives me anxiety, so far I've been treating it like Ceno box and only heal when I know Freddy is occupied and that seems to work out most of the time.

I don't think the clocks are all that OP personally but I could see them cutting the immunity down to 15 seconds and they would still be pretty good.

Overall you do have to respect Freddy now but as long as you do he doesn't feel that strong. Just purely from playing against them today they feel low B tier IMO.

  • Broke as in imbalanced or broke as in bugs?

Tbh the answer to both is DBD is always like that lol.

  • Probably because outside of the Huntress skin which is great this rift is kinda mid.

Can we stop with the neon already?

  • I was in soloQ this morning and got paired with the same survivors 3 games in a row. I'm not sure it means anything but the odds of that happening just seem so small because I know the player base is much bigger than that even in the morning. I can totally believe you're running into the same survivors for multiple games as killer, not sure if something is up with the matchmaker but it's very odd.

  • Presumably new rift and lunar new year cosmetics is tomorrow, there's no event and it's being replaced by something else in February and Blood Moon is I believe in March.

  • It's good it was an error but that being said still compare it to Unforeseen or even ToT, I think it's still the worst undetectable perk by a mile due to a lot of killers never triggering bloodlust to begin with. It would have to be 60 seconds to even be worth the conversation about it and even then it'd be really finicky.

Maybe on a Bubba chase someone activate the perk then go find someone else for a quick chainsaw down but again Unforeseen and Trail both do that better.

  • I'm convinced BHVR wants this perk to be a meme tbh.

  • Compare Beast of Prey with Unforeseen.

Perk is still a joke lmao.

  • We'll see what FNAF brings it's a chapter I've wanted for a while just cuz I have good memories of watching Game Grumps and Two Best Friends Play videos on it even though I think I personally only played the first one once but I'd say FNAF and Slenderman horror gaming phenomenons I grew up with (Idk if grew up with is actually the right wording I was in my early 20s already by then lol). I always thought a cool power for FNAF would be to have all the animatronics on the map and you'd be able to switch between them like Twins and it'd sort of have the feel of the animatronics roaming around and then stopping but maybe that would be too much map presence lol.

  • @Yggleif said:

A lot of SWFs are beatable honestly I kinda feel like it comes down to the map a lot of the time there are some setups you can't beat quickly enough like on suffocation lot sometimes the middle of the map is mid other times it all connects perfectly and you wonder what you're supposed to do. Same with Chapel, the main building is always pretty good but sometimes the windows are in the dirtiest places and connect to tiles.

That's not really a SWF thing I guess but SWFs are usually more experienced players so if they see how good their setup is good luck keeping your chases under a minute.

I guess if I had to pinpoint the biggest SWF strength it's knowing what Hens are being worked on because I feel like as killer you kinda rely on survivors sandbagging each other accidentally as a form of gen slowdown these days and that won't happen in a SWF which makes them much more efficient.

That's supposed to be gens, if they're working on Hens or with Hens you probably just lose regardless.

  • Botany/Kindred/Strength in Shadows/Wicked

Botany let's you heal teammates fast when you go for unhooks giving you more meat shields and combined with SiS gives you very fast self-sufficient heals, Kindred makes randoms brave enough to actually save you and Wicked is good anti-tunnel and the ability to unhook yourself if you go down near basement. SiS also has aura read so you know where not to go after healing.

  • The license BHVR lost was actually Jeff from the Overwatch team and there wasn't a way to implement the power in a balanced way because the power "Wrestle with Jeff prepare for death" just always insta-moried survivors. His weapon was Roadhog's 1.0 hook that was also too strong because it always hit around corners, even hitting survivors in other trials (he'd throw a hook into corn and hit a survivor on Ormond) making him impossible to loop.

BHVR was ultimately forced to scrap the chapter entirely.

  • I get what Almo is trying to say but I think "camping and tunneling" is the wrong way to put it. I played VHS for a short time and Monster was miserable to play because of the teens were coordinated it felt like you were the one that had to run away from them so that already felt bad because you're the side the doesn't have a team and then when you did get a down it wasn't particularly satisfying they're just down and you know they'll come back later and it was hard to tell how close they were to dying. I think hooking is underestimated as a satisfying period to the end of a chase and VHS didn't really have that. I think that was the core issue was at no point did monster ever feel satisfying to play even when you did well because it was a clunky stressful experience that lasted forever.

I'm okay with longer games, I've had 20 minute hag games that were cinema but that's because there's better pacing of there's the setup, the initial encounter, and then the chaos of traps going off and survivors getting hit left and right. Hag games used to actually hit horror movie beats (Hag doesn't feel this way anymore for a variety of reasons but that's it's own topic) but VHS never did it just takes forever to do anything and all of it can get reset rather easily which made games that were a stomp still drag.

Also the whole looking up thing after a chase was an awful idea, it's literally the reason I don't play nurse and every monster had that and none of them were anywhere near nurse level.

I mean, I somewhat understand your point, but again, most Endurance can be deleted with just a single Hit. And if they stack Perks, it is even more Perks which are removed immediatly. And if someone tanks a Hit with Endurance - just tunnel? Usually Killer Players have no problem with tunneling, but now it is suddenly not an option?

And well - the only thing which really provides a lengthy amount of Endurance is OTR. And while OTR can be removed immediatly as well, if someone decides to bodyblock with OTR active, that person did not do anything for quite some time.

I generally don't like tunneling unless there isn't really another option, usually if I'm not already in a chase I'll go back to hook to interrupt the heal but go after the unhooker and rotate hooks that way so nobody is going on the hook twice in a row. I'm not really talking about single instances of endurance either. I'm talking about scenarios where people bodyblock go injured then bodyblock with DH and then another person comes in with another DH or styptic. I guess this is really only a SWF issue because solo would never be that coordinated but when you do run into it it does feel problematic because it punishes you for trying to play more fair.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Hit them once and all Endurance is gone.

Thank you for not actually reading my post I appreciate it. I understand how endurance works I'm saying when survivors are stacking endurance and multiple survivors are taking hits for the survivor being chased multiple times per game that's rather problematic because there isn't a ton a lot of killers that can do anything about it.

  • I miss Gen Z by a couple years but I'd say Slenderman also, Marble Hornets was pretty popular.

  • 3 gens in a 3v1 isn't unwinnable if someone has a good chase but at 4-5 it's unwinnable but like so what? It's still fun to see how far you can get.

Why is everyone's willpower so weak these days?

  • Considering the most popular killer in this game is charge hatchet, throw hatchet, yeah they kinda are. Don't get me wrong I get it, someone like Singularity or Unknown should come with an instruction manual and unless you want to one trick them there's not a lot of reason to get involved with that complexity.

That being said I do think having killers like that is valuable for the people that do love resource management and digging into learning mechanics.

  • When you're bad in chase and get destroyed by this perk and you're typing real hard in the post game chat to let the killer know you're mad they got value off the perk but then the server closes and you're still mad so you make an account on the forums to type about how you're still mad about it and how much you hate the perk.

  • Yeah I definitely play DBD for a PvE experience

  • It's actually faster than someone else healing you so it's quite good you just have to be careful about the killer being around the basement and scout out where the basement is beforehand cuz sometimes it can be inconvenient but I do think it's quite good for the most part and aura read you get after is nice.

Ok BHVR, come on... usually one gives benefit of the doubt, but I have to say, this is quite abhorrent...

The response from Alexander was a little poor, but at least an attempt was made to assure the customer their purchase will be available at some point. Providing context on the nature of said issue and what needs to be resolved would have been appreciated I'm sure... if we're talking days, maybe a couple of weeks, that's a little more understandable, but if we're talking months (or possibly never), that's disgusting...

Mark's response is just baffling. We have a bug that allowed you to purchase region locked content, then locked that content and removed it from your account after you bought it, but without returning the currency you bought it with... you've now lost that currency...

The consumer here has been entirely reasonable, and only asked for the bare minimum of expectations for such a blunder (a blunder of your system btw, not his), the return of his auric cells... and you are saying you can't even provide that!?

What the hell man? The man isn't even asking for a refund (which he even has a goid argument for that)... but this is just a credit note, which any basic retail system should be able to provide. I can understand that perhaps it's not possible to actually refund the actual auric cells back into his account because its beyond your personal powers to do so and/or is tied up in the system... but for God sake you've at least got to have some kind of auric cell code you can provide to redeem in the store to return this man cells, or something?

I refuse to believe you don't have a contingency of some kind for a situation such as this...

Also please advise your customer service team not yo say "thank you for your understanding", when you basically just tell the customer to go eat crap... even the most reasonable of people would be livid at this response.

BHVR gives auric cells to Fog Whisperers monthly, they could absolutely give this guy the cells back if they wanted to.

  • Nah once is concerning but twice is disgusting. Admitting to gutting Skull Merchant on purpose and just leaving it at they'll fix her in the future and now taking people's money for cosmetics that they can't use but not refunding it because it'll be available "at some point". BHVR is getting way too comfortable taking people's money and then being sneaky about what's actually being purchased.

I used to say BHVR isn't perfect but at least they're not scumbag developers like EA and Blizzard but that's getting less and less true by the day and it's sad to see.

BHVR you can't do ######### like this and then ask for things like "labor of love" votes when you're way too okay with deceiving your community lmao.

  • Calling using a perk that exists "abuse" will never not be funny to me.

Slugging is part of the game but BHVR does need to start creating more anti-slug perks if this is going to become more common.

  • I disagree with Tru3 on a lot of things but he's correct in this case. It's been noticed a ton in Asia especially that slugging is actually more effective than hooking with the current state of the game especially on certain characters like Twins, Singularity, Onryo, Unknown, Oni, Billy, Plague, Wesker, Freddy, etc.

It's just more efficient to not bother hooking because that time hooking can be spent applying more pressure and with the increase hook timer if survivors stay on the hook as long as possible it's 140 seconds and slugging is about 240 seconds so it's only about a minute and a half longer that's easily made up by extra time to pressure and not having your status effects reset.

I even feel this on the survivor side, when someone is downed and I'm on a gen I do feel a certain amount of comfort the killers time is gonna be take up by hooking for about another 10 seconds and then however long it takes to have them start patrolling again it gives me a lot of gen time. Where as if they slug I'm like "oh that sucks they either are going to come to me now and I'm less close to finishing the gen or they find someone else and I need to pick up the slug who may or may not even be fully recovered and if it's a singularity I get slipstreamed if it's Twins one of them might still be near by, if it's unknown their hallucination might literally be next to the slug and you get the idea.

People won't want to hear this but slugging is superior to hooking currently unless you're Bubba, Hag or Trapper and that's largely only because basement exists.

Bloodlust 1 takes 15 seconds of no power, no breaking pallet, not M1 hits to trigger.

I know the perk would still be bad then that's just the bare minimum it would take to sometimes get a hit with it.

The perk really needs to do something entirely new.

  • I've waited so long for them to buff this perk and this is such an absolutely garbage change. How do you look at a perk that you know is never used and it's finally time to do a pass on it and you just do this?

Bloodlust to trigger is just a concept that doesn't work in general but even if you wanted to do it this way the undetectable would have to last for 60 seconds to give you time to find another survivor and even then the perk is still bad just accomplishes what the perk is kinda trying to do.

  • I'll be honest I think a lot of these changes are hard to accurately visualize and we won't know until we play with it.

The pallet explosions especially are really interesting but hard to tell how practical it is.

  • Beast of Prey

I'm confident the buff will happen in the next 5 years.
