We're getting to the point where this was necessary, give it another couple years and there's going to have to free weekly character rotations and maybe you can only level them up to 15 so you can try a full build but nothing past that.
-
Tbe only thing I care about is if Snares and Pallets share a resource. If they do I'm sure BHVR had to have learned their lesson from Clown and upped the count dramatically to around 8-9.

Nah this is either misremembering at best or just straight up disingenuous.
Killers wouldn't normally do things like that despite the game's mechanics allowing them, because they… actually cared about how the other players perceived them, and wanted to have a fair game.
You almost got me, good joke lol.
-
I remember the times 6+ years ago where you'd get hooked and the killer would literally just stand right next to you and a hook trade was nearly guaranteed nearly in a lot of scenarios if the killer had STBFL and unhooking required multiple people.
It could be better but people don't know how awful it used to be and it's kind of amazing this game survived despite that. I guess busted DS and DH did make it equally frustrating on the killer side so that was something.
-
C tier
Nea is popular but Nurse has been a massive problem since her creation and Disturbed Ward is one of the worst maps in the game.
-
I think it has to be an S just because I believe Halloween is the reason DBD still exists today and didn't fade into obscurity.
-
I think it's an A, Hag is outdated but she was a solid killer for a long time, Ace is one of the most successful male survivors ever and Hexes were a fantastic addition to the game. The swamp maps are a cool concept but are flawed in practice but hopefully the rework fixes that.
-
Summer Camp
Beach
Underground Caverns

Because unlike Huntress and Slinger, Unknown can lose his progress. If you don't hit all your shots then the survivor loses weakened, significantly prolonging the chase.
The teleport takes a lot of time to setup and survivors can get rid of them.
Literally everything Unknown does can be strong but can also be countered.
-
Speaking of scarecrows I think Fiddlesticks would fit into DBD perfectly.

Yeah they really can be, if they're smart.
And I'd rather waste 4 minutes of time than 20+ because those two with the stealth perks know how to avoid getting crows.
Hider squad = absolutely a real thing. It might be an EU thing because I see them sometimes on Otz's stream and I've run into a Russian TTV group twice now and one literally has 'hide and seek pro' or something on his profile.
But even just 2 hiding can take the game hostage for ages.
Survivors absolutely got skull merchant nerfed. Go look at the maybe 10+ threads after she got gutted, where there were wall to wall survivors going 'good', 'deserved', 'mission accomplished', 'now just delete her without refund'. BHVR pulled the trigger, but they didn't load the gun.
Not many killers play Hag. Hag is also a 'hated' killer. Should BHVR deliberately nerf her into unplayability for years?
Okay but like if it's a situation where the last two survivors are just hiding you can just hook the first survivor you find and that's literally faster than bleeding someone out lmao.
Also that's not how game development works lol, players do not have access to the code only BHVR does and BHVR decides when and how to make changes to killers and BHVR does not have the best track record when making these changes in either direction see what they did to SM but also how they spent 3 years on a rework to twins that was so bad it made her the best killer in the game and got completely scrapped. Now did some survivors want SM to be deleted? Sure but every game has 12 year olds demanding things they don't like be deleted from whatever game they're playing but BHVR is one of the few devs to actually do it because they genuinely don't know how to balance SM and don't give themselves time to figure it out with their production schedule. But this is neither here nor there because the nerfing of SM is not a reason to slug random survivors, that is absolutely bizarre logic.

Unhookable squads. Hider squads.
Also - Skull Merchant. Not trying to whatabout but I'm not all that open to complaints about killer actions being 'justified' when survivors all but got a killer removed from the game by quitting. And then gloated about it and called for people who mained SM to be punished further.
Very few teams are truly unhookable and hiding is not a reason to slug somebody. Like a "hider squad" isn't even a real thing lmao.
As far as SM goes very few people actually liked SM, killer players included. But survivors didn't get SM removed, that was BHVR's choice. It's also BHVR's choice to not visit killers for 1 years+ so slugging survivors because of things the devs did sounds insane to me tbh.
-
This thread is actually insane.
Perks cannot be toxic they're perks they're part of the game lmao. Beyond that I don't know why the DBD community seems so conspiracy brained and thinks there's a hidden meaning behind everything to justify toxicity it's just weird.
That being said there is nothing that justifies 4 man slugging unless you're Oni or Billy or some other snowball killer cuz yeah that happens organically all the time. But Chucky? Nah this is just a killer that wanted to grief and probably found a reason to justify it after. The game lets you do that so it's whatever, BHVR should do something about it but they don't so nothing the players can do about it. But can we stop with the bizarre justifications for it? If you do that as killer just say the survivors annoyed you and you wanted to be a dick to them or that you get off on it instead of doing some cringe ######### like saying they deserved it for X reason like it's e-justice or something cuz it's really not lol.
-
We missing Tommy Jarvis and Andy Barclay.
-
I needed a good laugh. I low-key needed to double check to see if this thread was old and just got bumped for some reason but nope we're actually complaining about Doctor in 2024. Wild.
So Doctor imo is awful like legitimately one of the worst killers in the game and the reason is while he has a lot of abilities most of them don't do anything. The fake doctors don't do anything, the skill checks unless they're using merciless storm aren't that bad, the fake pallets are mediocre especially if using WoO which most survivors do so realistically they shouldn't be fooling people even in soloQ. Then there's the fact he still has to down people which is what he has the shock for, which has a bit of a learning curve and is admittedly decent anti-loop although no where near the most powerful. The main problem with it is there's a slight delay on the effect meaning of the survivor is near the window or pallet at all they can still vault/drop in time before the blast detonates.
So all in all Doctor does have a lot of powers but they're all very minor powers that add up to something mediocre. Also while you can't completely get rid of madness once you get it as long as you're near a locker when you hear the terror radius you can avoid getting madness for a long time plus most Doctors will leave an area if they don't get anyone on a blast giving up a ton of free gen time because they tend not to properly check areas and just rely on the blast.
-
I'm very much in the "why not both?" camp but if we're forcing the question of picking one I think it depends on the killer.
For killers like you mentioned thrill is probably better and for killers like Huntress or Nemesis that don't have an easy way to defend totems Undying is probably better overall.
-
It's not really like Tru3 was going out of his way to defend the totems, it's unlucky they were found so quickly but the focus was clearly on the survivors and even if he did save the thrill in time he was still going to lose the ruin at which point the thrill isn't doing anything anyway.
The build in general was kinda weird. Deerstalker on twins is a meme and thrill just to protect ruin and maybe pentimento is quite questionable because ruin isn't strong enough to bring protection for that alone and you're only getting two pentimentos max.
I don't really see this as a good example of anything tbh besides showing why twins is kinda underrated.
-
Welcome to why my number one buff I've suggested since Houndmaster released is the dog's speed is increased when it runs back from a command.
The cooldown buffs really only matter after a successful grab. If you miss the cooldown becomes who knows because it's not consistent how fast you'll get the dog back.
Although at this point if they fixed it 3 seconds would be kinda nuts. If they nerfed it back to 4 seconds but made the dog run back way faster I think that's overall healthier.

B tier in your hands, sure. When the best killer players in the game are calling for her to be nerfed, it sounds like the skill issue is actually on you.
Literally who is doing this? I've only seen Hens ask for nerfs and Scott say she's strong but it's too early to decide if she's actually OP or not.
-
My understanding is he is slower but goes farther? If true seems like a side grade than a nerf and they want a different play style for him.

I don't think he's that far off. They buffed too many things and made her kind of braindead. Another zoning killer who is way too strong for how easy they are to play. She can just hold M2 and force a hit on the animation lock now or cancel into an M1. They won't stop with this kind of design for some reason. People are going to hate playing against this killer. I'm not saying game design is easy by any means, but we have so much historical precedent with zoning killers. These buffs aren't going to work long-term.
Nah you still get slowed down on a cancel , if you whistle you better be ready to commit to the dog or you'll lose serious distance and you better hope you hit because missing with the dog is almost guaranteed to lose chase if you miss and they hold W.
I also don't know where her being easy came from when literally everyone compared her to Singularity and considered her high effort low reward when she first released. As far as I'm concerned this is nothing but clickbait hysteria.
-
It's nothing like Scamper lol.
Closest comparison is Wesker and I thought people liked them tbh. If you get hit at a pallet you just didn't time the pallet drop correctly and if it's at a window I'm sorry but then you just have the reactions of a sloth, going left or right isn't that hard.

Hens has said shes OP and top 5 /:
Expect nerfs acordingly sadly
Side note Hens might of been the worst consultant choice out of the many good DBD players I feellike he doesn't believe half the things he types/talks about but he does it becasue he thinks it popular
I actually had to look cuz that seemed so ridiculous to me and yeah idk if he's baiting or what cuz that's such an insane thing to say.
Nurse, Blight, Billy, Spirit, Artist, Oni, Plague, Singularity, Twins, I could go on but you get the point. There's no way Houndmaster is anywhere near the level of any of these killers. No idea what Hens is smoking
-
I haven't really seen this, all I've seen about Houndmaster lately is people freaking out about knotted Rope which while the change was a bit lazy is not a big deal. I've been running a fatty meat hex build which IMO is way more evil than stacking knotted rope with STBFL and Rapid.
Twitter is always going to freak out because it's all about rage baiting with the dumbest takes imaginable so I'm not sure how much that counts. Houndmaster is like Mid B tier now and feels perfectly fine. I haven't played against her recently but she definitely has counters. Dog is so loud you should almost never be Houndsensed if you're not being lazy and the dog is still pretty unusable in tight loops so I don't think she's really capable of being broken considering that.
-
Given BHVR's track record with these things it's truly a Christmas miracle it didn't go back to 10%. I think 12% is perfectly fair so this is a good change.
Although I doubt survivors think so because they keep giving up whenever I run a hex builds now RIP.
-
I have been waiting for this for like 6-7 years.
Please let this be soon.
-
She feels MUCH snappier and I don't feel like I need to wait 5 to 6 business days before the dog comes back after I send it to do something.
It still gets stuck sometimes but I feel like I'm getting a lot more grabs when I do send the dog out. She's not all the way there yet imo like her add-ons still need another pass because she only has 2-3 decent ones and I still think the dog should run back to her quicker and I'd increase the dog hitbox by another 0.1 meters but I'm liking how quickly they're improving her and the significance of the improvements.

Did you read what I wrote in my post? Because your comment implies that you didn't.
In no world is Weaving Spiders ever S tier nor are chest perks.
They literally do nothing but give extra time to the killer, being a loot goblin sort of made sense when hatch spawned before much sooner and you could hatch escape with multiple people but all those perks are F tier now.
-
Wait is this why soloQ is so miserable? There are genuinely people that think if they bring a chest build with weaving spiders they're playing a meta build?
Would explain a lot tbh.

Fixed an issue that caused the trail boost to have no effect when starting a chase on the search path.
This one's kinda crazy. I thought the speed boost ending when in/initiating a chase was an intentional mechanic. Apparently not.
Me too, that actually makes her noticably better. Dunno if it makes her actually good but that will feel really nice.
-
No and hexes will go back to being irrelevant because survivors don't actually want other objectives no matter how much they claim otherwise.

True, you have no way of knowing where a hallucination might be, maybe the devs should implement is so that when you are near then you can see their aura and get a vfx on your screen...
1. It's only an 8 meter range, you can teleport before they know it's there.
2. If they're weakened they're probably looking behind at you and not where the hallucination they're running into is
3. If they run near it you recover so quickly it doesn't really matter if they know it's there.
Let's not oversimplify how unknown is in chase yeah?
-
@squbax said:

So dredge remnant with more steps? And I say this as someone who plays a lot of unkown, hallucinations are easy to counter once you know how to play the game.
Except a dredge has one trick to try and pincer you.
You have no idea where an hallucination might be it counters both looping and holding W.
-
Absolutely still think Unknown is A tier.
Once you realize Unknowns real power is the hallucinations and the UVX only exists to get Hallucinations faster they make a lot more sense and are very easy to get downs with. The ability to have survivors think you're somewhere then hit them from an entirely different direction should not be underestimated.
-
Hopefully it's 12% or 10% with a minor second effect. If it's just a straight reversion that would actually be quite sad, hex builds deserve to be strong with the risk they present.
-
Happened a ton with Mikaela back in the day when CoH was meta.
Haven't noticed it with Taurie but I'd believe it if it was.
-
I don't think it's bad for hexes to be meta but new thrill with buffed dominance and undying is kinda rough lol. It kinda flips the script and puts the survivors on a time limit instead of the killer because unless you're bad at chases or camping you should get at least 1 mori every game with it. I'd put Thrill to 12% first and see how that is otherwise a revert might be reasonable actually with how much bone defense we have now.
EDIT: Meant to mention devour would always be the 4th perk lol.
-
Personally don't think Houndmaster is even in the conversation of weakest killers she's just more complex, she's capable of quick chases however where as Freddy and SM really aren't. Of the 3 SM is probably the weakest as Freddy at least has mobility and I can't really think of a strength SM has.
-
This is still subject to change but as of right now,
Search Mode: I kind of love it more than Chase Mode which I wasn't expecting. Targeting a gen is still a tad inconsistent so they can widen that tiny bit more but it's MUCH improved from the PTB and usually works if you put the gen in the middle of the screen. Her mobility is legitimately in the upper half of the roster and I actually enjoy it in chase since it gives you a way to counter survivors hold W. Part of what makes a good killer is the ability to get into the chase quickly after a hook and I think this is the one thing Houndmaster legitimately does well.
Chase Mode: Chase Mode is.... rough. The hitbox is horribly inconsistent and small although there are random times the dog is willing to notice a survivor like 45 degrees to the side of them and absolutely no clue why that only happens sometimes. I do think using the dog to zone and pincer like Knight is often times more useful than trying to hit with the dog like the threat of the dog is somehow more powerful than the actual dog lol.
Houndsense: Much better than it was on PtB although it's very low impact without add-ons. Of those I think the exhaustion add on is pretty decent and I surprisingly really like the Fatty Meat add on that makes survivors scream every 15 seconds when effected with houndsense. Being able to have that effect on an add on is lovely for totem and anti healing builds or if you have DMS. I think it would be nice to change the downing effect of houndsense from louder grunts which is pretty useless to slower recovery speed but I get if we don't want to promote slugging.
Add-Ons: They're pretty middling to bad. The yellow barley is better than the green waterskin because you often don't want to do a second pounce and survivors don't expect the extra distance on the first charge. I would say Fatty Meat, Knotted Rope, Spiked Collar, Uncharted Map and Training Book are the only add ons worth using although I don't touch purples and reds usually so I can't comment on those although I'm sure I'll play with them eventually.
Overall I think Chase mode needs a lot of love but otherwise she's not D tier like people have been saying. I think when played to her potential she can reach low B tier, she has mobility and info gathering it's just her lethality is questionable and makes it hard to follow up on said mobility and info.
-
I got her with shards because I've wanted a hunter with a dog for a really long time. She's really rough atm but I'm slowly picking up on how she actually works. She's not good but I think it might take a minute until we figure out her potential, in reality it's just the difference of her being B or C tier but that difference is fairly significant imo. I think she's going to see more buffs regardless though.

Do you think she will get more buffs in the future?
I can't imagine she won't.
The dog absolutely needs a detection cone for chase mode, the path is far too narrow right now. The dog is better for mind gaming that actually grabbing a survivor.
-
I feel like they didn't think about indoor maps when they made the power.
-
She's pretty lackluster so far, getting the dog to actually grab someone has been pretty frustrating.
In loops you're kind of just an m1 killer.
-
Unbelievably based and entity pilled.
-
Still think it's a top 10 perk tbh.
It's like unbreakable where some games it won't come into play but other games it'll turn a 4k into a 4 man out.
-
I don't really care, I didn't bother using it on the PtB because it was obviously busted.
I've wanted a houndmaster killer for a long time and I think the way BHVR implemented it is fine so I've saved up the iri shards for her. What will determine if I actually enjoy and possibly main the killer is how easy it is to target gens with search mode. In the PtB it was horribly inconsistent and I fight like I was fighting the controls more than I was playing killer. If they fixed that and we have a killer with excellent map presence and mobility that can reliably bother survivors on distant gens that's all I really need to scratch that itch for macro play that I enjoy.
-
Survivors: "4 slowdown is so boring"
BHVR nerfs all the slowdown so killers start running aura perks and BHVR nerfs distortion so said perks are actually useable
Survivors: "nooooo not like that"
-
Jack needs to say "you will always remember the day you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow" when he opens the gate.
-
Nurse is my most hated killer but of these I would say Myers because they always either have tombstone or mirror and a map offering so facing Myers always feels very gimmicky to me.
-
I'm convinced a meteor will hit the earth if we don't nerf pig occasionally and BHVR is saving us all by doing so. It's the only explanation.
Also there should be a leave alone option.
