I think it's fine they removed it for Wraith. He already struggles quite a bit and doesn't really need another artificial weakness.
For the other killers though, I don't understand why they'd remove that. It was valid counterplay against killers that typically lack a lot of it in chase.
-
Anything else? How about a punishment for a killer that hit you. That's pretty rude.
-
Why can a survivor try to escape from hook in the first place? It's mostly used for hook suicides anyway.
-
For the love of the entity, just don't let it be another killer like Dredge, Artist, Knight and SM that forces survivors to Shift + W away. I don't care, if it's licensed or not. I just want another killer that I would be excited to play and hopefully some interesting new perks on both sides. You did such a great job with Wesker, so obviously you are still capable of creating good killers.
Also, please don't add a new map or rework a map before you fired the guys, that came up with the new Red Forest maps. I'm trying to be sympathetic here but even someone that doesn't play the game would see how ridiculous these maps are. You took all the worst qualities of these maps and dialed them up to ungodly levels of atrociousness.
A roadmap would be nice as well, because honestly with the last 2 chapters being big disappointments for a lot of players it is kind of hard to still be excited about the game. The balance changes are good but they won't keep players engaged for long as long as the core problems still remain.
I've almost given up hope, that we'll ever see the buffs that some killers have needed for years but obviously I'd still like to see them. Freddy, Trapper, Myers, Sadako etc. all could use some buffs and other killers like the Hillbilly need a few QoL improvements (overheat change was great but only one of his many, many, MANY issues). There are also several perks on both sides that should be looked at. Call of Brine is so bad after its nerf that I don't see how anyone would run it and then there are perks like Self-Care (that poor baby Claudette is never gonna get fully healed).
-
It's gonna take more than a few badly received chapters back to back to kill DBD. That being said, I reckon that the player count might drop significantly.

We both crawled across the map, past several hooks with the killer around us the whole time until Mikaela made it to where I stopped at and the killer just stood there until we both bled out completely. There were no petrified oak offerings either. The killer could've easily hooked both of us and ended the match.
Then that's very ######### thing to do. As I said: Unsportsmanlike Conduct.
-
Is it possible that there were no hooks around? I've had that a few times and was forced to bleed out multiple survivors because they brought too many Petrified Oaks for me to hook them.
Otherwise this is bming and I think a reportable offense (unsportsmanlike conduct).
-
That would be cool. Only problem is that they can't do that. The game can't even handle more than 2 zombies, so illusionary Doctors to do something is not going to happen either as it's too much for the game to handle. Such a shame.

Well if it is a feature then they should make it a feature for controller players and those with normal mouse settings as well??
That would be the logical thing to do. But the fact alone that there are no controller settings yet and higher DPI gives an advantage playing Blight should be enough to know that is not going to happen anytime soon.
-
@Mooks said:
Basic controller settings.
Deadzones, Response Curves, different sensitivity for normal gameplay vs aiming (as killer or with flashlight), different sensitivity settings for each killer. Aimdressing or whatever it’s called to be less obstructive to Controller players and lunges to not cancel themselves out. Maybe even adjust M&K to actually have limitations to turn Rate etc (iirc Oni is not supposed to be able to do 180-360 flicks though it’s very much possible on Mouse).
FoV slider for killer/first person view, with rework of Shadowborn and M&A
Phobia configs for specific phobias where it’s reasonable and applicable (eg Haemophobia and Aichmophobia aren’t really reasonable to adjust to in this very specific game - but Coulrophobia and Emetophobia can be taken care of by just changing some skins and/or sounds which wouldn’t give any unfair advantage or disadvantage)
Do we actually know that Oni is not supposed to flick at 180-360°? As far as I know this is just a feature that this killer has, similar to how you can turn 180° with Billy, if your mouse sensitivity is high enough.
-
FOV slider for killers. Please, BHVR. It's not a big deal in terms of balancing but it would be nice, if everyone was able to play with 4 perks.
Survivors should see each other's perks. We already have it in DBD Mobile, no reason why it shouldn't be in the original game.
-
There is little to nothing you can do about it. With the right perks and items (Potential Energy, BNPs) and a bit of communication you could break this pretty easy in theory but other than that, you can only try to spread on all 3 gens at once and get back to it as soon as she leaves you. It will take a while but eventually you will get through.
I agree though, that SM is badly designed.
-
I don't know whether I should be impressed or disgusted. The amount of hourse this must take...
-
Doctor. Gotta love the giggles.
And Billy. Nothing like hitting a survivor with a curve and then spinning in celebration.

They were kill switched because their glitches adversely affected their own gameplay. The point is that bugs that harm killers in some way are swiftly killswitched (rightfully) but those that harm survivors usually aren’t. And like it or not, that’s a trend.
Twins were not kill switched even though that was a game breaking bug. That is exactly what the kill switch was added for.
Also, as others have stated this is NOT a trend. They are very inconsistent with the kill switch but that's about it. They didn't kills switch all the maps that had fat shaming spots on them (for several weeks btw) but they did kill switch Dredge when it was bugged.

Something that affects the killer -

Something that affects the survivor (like merciless storm) -

Twins would like a word with you.

There were quite a few that were excited for that chapter. I'm not one of these people though.
-
DBD is a very unique game with some great licenses and well designed mechanics. It has its flaws but it's still fun.
-
Now see me get a 4k with perkless Freddy and a 0k with Nurse using her best perks against low prestige survivors.
That doesn't show anything. 1 game is not enough to showcase a killer's strength.
-
I think Sadako would be fine, if everytime she hit someone out of her stealth the TV with the least cooldown reactivated (weaker version of the Iridescent Videotape).

Yes, of course it’s not the full story. I’m just saying that all three of the killers I mentioned are really good. Nurse is good too obviously but more than two killers excel at this game.
Sadako is an absolute noob stomper. An experienced SWF on the other hand will likely wipe the floor with her. It's the same as with Freddy. In lower MMR they are absolute nightmares to face because they both have ways to confuse survivors that aren't as familiar with the game. People with more experience on the other hand know exactly how to counter these 2 killers for the most part, which is why they don't perform too well against those.
This is not exactly good balancing because you also cannot buff these killers without making it more miserable for inexperienced survivors. One side will suffer, no matter what.
On the topic of potential SWF nerfs: I don't think punishing survivors for playing with their friends is the way to go. It might be fine against the high level seal team 6 squads you find in maybe 1 out of 10 games (if you're really unlucky) but for more casual SWFs, which make up the majority of DBD's player base according to Peanits, this would be horrible. The only healthy way to close the disparity between soloQ, killer and SWF is to buff soloQ and killer so that they are closer to SWF level.RNG in the game and when tha

I mean I dont think that the devs are survivor or killer sided, but these changes dont really address the issue that OP brought up
That's beside the point. The truth is; BHVR do actually address survivor and killer issues. It takes them longer than I'd like but it's not that they 'ignore' survivor issues. This whole debate about tunneling and camping is as old as the game and they already attempted to 'fix' this with limited success.
Base BT was literally introduced as an anti tunnel / anti proxy camp mechanic and I'd say it does a decent job. It makes tunneling harder than it used to be (even with BT) for the cost of nothing.
-
RPD is one of the most boring maps in the game. The devs seem to have a rough time designing new maps that are actually enjoyable to play on, so I don't really want to see any more maps right now.
-
Disagree. I hate both.
-
I disagree with a few things. I don't think SM is that strong. Also I'm a bit surprised to see Plague and Bubba so low. In my opinion Plague is one of the strongest killers in the game and Bubba is... Well, he's Bubba. And Clown is definitely not stronger than Billy. At the end of the day Billy still has an insta down and map mobility.
I would love to hear your opinion on why you placed these killers that way. I'm genuinely curious.

No one really thinks the devs of this game ignore survivor issues. But it’s important to note that the survivor issues addressed are done as a balancing afterthought to prevent too many people from abandoning the role. Killers received quite a few buffs in 6.0 and some were only dialed back b/c the queue times for killers rose quite a bit as fewer people came in as survivor (i.e. Eruption’s nerf). And the core issues that survivors have come down to camping + tunneling. Anything else is an offshoot of those two things, which have not been addressed. Tbh there’s really no way to solve those problems without altering game mechanics. Perks aren’t enough. BP incentives aren’t enough. Increasing survivor objective times aren’t enough. All of those things have been implemented yet failed to discourage camping and/or tunneling. It’s gonna take something extreme.
Now that's something we can agree on. To really 'solve' (if that is even possible) these issues they have to make some drastic changes to the game. They could try to add some reward for spreading hooks and also add base DS for a PTB to test it. They added 10 extra seconds to the gens but then nerfed the best slow down perks and now we're in kind of a weird spot, where games either end so fast the killer is physically unable to do anything or the killer could potentially hold the game forever (at least for me).
-
They should just remove depipping and be done with it.

Tbh I don’t see anyone run BT. The basekit haste/endurance survivors have after an unhook doesn’t discourage or stop tunneling. And yes it should help survivors escape from a killer—at any point in the trial. You aren’t owed a kill b/c you got a survivor on the hook after gates are up. Lol. Go after the unhooker and run Coup De Grace or STBL or some other perk that helps with lunge distance & speed. I won’t address the rest because you make me tired.
Base BT is pretty much a guaranteed escape in end game. I remember that was an issue with DS before its nerf. The perk BT is also great but it's mostly power creeped by OTR, so of course you don't see it anymore.
Coup De Grâce is an incredibly gimmicky (not to say bad) perk. It has exactly 5 tokens at best that will be consumed by any lunge, no matter if you want it or not. It also would not help you get that hit to down the survivor again. STBFL on the other hand would do that, but then again the math still favors the survivor here. Hit them and they make enough distance to get out anyway. Hitting the unhooker works without STBFL as well but it's not exactly rocket science to force a hit and have another survivor unhook before proceeding to bodyblock. Saying that base BT doesn't help is the same as claiming that 6.1.0 didn't help killers at all. Both are obviously wrong.
My point is that the devs do NOT ignore survivor issues. This mentality reminds me of a dementia patient introducing themself every 2 minutes. Because just like them there are some people, that completely forget what BHVR did over last months. If anything they fixed more of these issues over the last year than they did in the to 2 years before combined. Do I personally want to see them do something about tunneling and camping? Yes and I've never said otherwise. But simply punishing these strategies is not the way to go. Instead, how about we address why killers tunnel in the first place? Not all of us are comp players that only care about winning or easy games. Some of us simply don't see any other way to compete with survivors that end games in about 4 minutes.
-
I mean, you're not wrong. Of course the killer should play in whatever way they see fit though neither killers nor survivors should take what happens in the game personal.
-
Yeah, I've noticed that too.

Basekit BT isn’t good. Nurse is back to 6 blinks with her add-ons. The visual terror radius doesn’t affect survivorship anymore than the audible terror radius. Reassurance could have been OK if the original version had made it to live. But remember it was neutered b/c killers complained it would prohibit justified camping. The red herring was that it would somehow allow survivors to trap each other on hook, which is a very silly argument. You could have done better. Do better next time.
BT isn't good. You're right about that because it was good before. Now it's great! Not only are you protected for 10 seconds, you also have extra 10% speed for the cost of absolutely nothing. That is insane. In end game this guarantess you'll make it 44 metres far with nothing a killer can do, which is basically a free escape.
New 6 blink Nurse is not as strong as old Range + Recharge Nurse was. Also her blink attacks are now special attacks, which completely negates the threat of insta downs from her. Was it enough? Probably not. Was it a good nerf nonetheless? Definitely.
Reassurance is still a crazy good perk. 30 extra seconds is a lot. A survivor does not need to have unlimited time on a hook. That's simply not how the game works.

The problem is you have 3 gen from the get go. If you are competent enough you will make sure they dont get finished. At which point third of the map is under you surveillance, another third is the road which is a dead zone and the last third are the 3 houses on the other end of the map for which you dont care for.
So this map is survivor sided if they do 2 middle gens first, otherwise its killer sided.
I'd argue this is not as much of an issue anymore. They changed the spawn logic of the gens a bit and now you'll always get 1 gen on the second floor of Myers' House. This one is not as easy to defend as long as the survivors are committed to it.
But you definitely have a point that Haddonfield is in a weird spot. It has some redeeming qualities for killers for all the wrong reasons and is otherwise ridiculously powerful against most killers.

I don't know why devs are not touching to Blight. What is so special about him?
They dared to try nerf Billy! Billy!!! But not even small nerf for Blight.
Remember when they announced they'd remove hug tech? Or when they removed Skybilly but Blight could still jump on top of various objects.
I swear, Blight is the golden child of DBD. He has not been nerfed once after patch 5.0.0 but they did buff Adrenaline Vial in 5.5.0.
-
Billy is not in too bad of a spot strength-wise. What he needs is mostly QoL improvements.
You mentioned correctly that his base speed is too slow to hit survivors with a curve in most loops and that is 100% correct. No matter how good the Billy player is, the survivor can react to Billy's curving, which effectively leaves them with no right play other than hoping the survivor will screw up. He needs some of the speed the Engravings grant him added to his base kit with a small nerf to the Engravings to compensate for that.
His FOV is atrocious. Playing him without Shadowborn not only makes it much harder to go for curves, since you cannot see the object next to you, but the chainsaw also takes up so much of your screen that you'll have a hard time even seeing what's in front of you. All of Billy's cooldowns take the same time (3 seconds). That doesn't feel right and it's awful when you stop your chainsaw to avoid bumping into an object but you can't do anything for 3 seconds anyway.
Lastly, most of his addons are pretty mediocre. He has 2 really good ones, a few that are okish and a lot of useless junk. What am I supposed to do with Big Buckle, Black Greese, No-Name Motor Oil, Leafy Mash, Pig House Gloves, Apex Muffler and Iri Brick? They gimmicky at best and completely useless without dedicated builds around them.
-
Ok... Let's have a look on what happened in the past 12 months for survivors, shall we?
1) Base kit BT.
2) Ruin + Undying gutted.
3) Reassurance added to the game.
4) Nurse nerf. No more Range + Recharge.
5) New HUD.
6) Visual TR.
Clearly the devs must be killer sided!
-
There is always Bubba with BBQ. It's not great but a solid pick nonetheless.
-
Ok. I'll make sure to dial up the role playing to 11.
-
It's not killers, it's players in general.
-
I feel the exact same way. Setting up drones in chase or even just for general map pressure doesn't work in your favor. It all comes down to those last 3 gens and I'd rather throw the match than camp 3 gens.
-
Myers, Trapper and Freddy need reworks the most. Playing these killers is a tragedy.
-
Doctor, Blight, Wraith and Sadako come to mind. You get a ton of BP just by using their powers.
-
"A game I play doesn't have representation of a specific group of people. The developers must ignore them!"
If you want representation, then make a post in feedback and suggestions. Don't accuse the devs of ignoring that just because they have not added said representation yet.
I wear glasses and you don't see me accusing the devs of ignoring people that are visually impaired.
-
That's what I've been thinking. Both sides use strategies to ensure wins, that don't rely on making good plays.
For survivors we had second chances, spam healing and now gen speed running. I had a match the other day where they somehow managed to complete all 5 gens in 4 minutes with only 1 toolbox. I was a bit shocked because I had never felt this powerless. Killers tunnel, camp and slug more. Playing the game normally is not time efficient enough to ensure wins in some situations.
Whoever loses to one of these extremes is likely to respond with an extreme in the next match.

Weaker killers balance should not rely on a perk, they should be buffed alongside stbfl being changed
Agreed. But since that is not going to happen...
-
It shouldn't deactivate. It's a saving grace to weaker killers, why would you nerf a perk that improves the chasing potential of already suffering killers while doing nothing to killers that are actually problematic?
-
I'm not sure this really qualifies as a mind game. You hope the killer has a rough time and try to annoy them so they'll go for you instead of your team mates. It's the same as the killer hitting you on the hook: Unnecessary.
Also, most teabags don't happen until the survivors made it to the gates. Is that a mind game as well?
-
The thing is they already botched 2 chapters back to back. Knight and SM weren't exactly well received. A third bad chapter won't kill the game but it will damage the overall morale of players even more. Players that aren't excited for your game will eventually stop buying new content.
It doesn't have to be a licensed chapter but they need to show us that they CAN still create good chapters. Also, there are players like me that refuse to spend money on non-licensed content. Meaning, I'll buy an original chapter with shards (eventually).
-
You could allow survivors to use both SB and Lithe and I'd still prefer that over DH.
-
I would rather see bikini Bubba.
-
Felix and Vittorio have shirtless cosmetics now and then there is Renato, who is very popular as well.
