  • Coup de Grace + No Way Out + Pain Res + Tinkerer is my current go to.

Tinkerer is only there cuz it's great on Skull Merchant knowing what gens to contest with your drones if I was playing a different killer it would depend if I just wanted a good general perk the last slot would probably be Jolt or STBFL.

  • Every so often a bug will come up that makes the game feel better to play and is ultimately harmless. Blast mine for most of it's existence, Twins getting fast switching and now this. It will almost certainly be patched like the others and we will all be very sad when it does.

Its the combination of both that completely breaks it, the problem is that MFT in particulars screws up with killers a lot more.

Resilience still requires good pathing that gets rewarded if you do so, MFT instead compensates mistakes and outright makes good pathing even stronger.

Doctor in particular suffers intensively from this perk, that 3% is often the reason his Shock didnt stop the survivor from vaulting.

Btw has a Knight main, this perk definitely affects him, in normal chases without Guards, like everyone else, and considerably reducing the chances of Guards getting a hit, even Assassin.

I stopped expecting guards to get hits long ago unless I'm using dried horsemeat even before MfT was a thing. As long as the guards let me get a hit or occupy a survivor while I'm chasing someone else they're doing their job IMO.

I'm really am confused why people freak out over MfT so much. I mostly play m1 killers and it just doesn't bother me much. The only time MfT has been noticable to me has surprisingly been on midwich where I'm just holding W in hallways for much longer than usual and that's just pure pain, but even then I still win cuz it's midwich. Idk I do feel like coup de grace has been helping me a ton lately against MfT as you basically delete any extra distance they make with it and then some.

  • I've mostly put him down atp because he's incredibly frustrating to play and not because of the EMPs although they are strong.

The real issue is you have a power that literally cannot down a survivor. It is literally do all these steps and hope the survivors misuse EMPs and assuming all that happens the reward is you can be a buffed m1 killer for a few seconds at a time. Singularity has low lethality and the power simply creates little to no 4v1 pressure in most scenarios.

  • As someone who plays a lot of Knight it barely effects me at all.

Like maybe this is a hot take but I think Resilience is much more busted in chase than MfT is. Making vaults you normally wouldn't is much stronger than having to take a few extra seconds to catch up to a survivor.

  • I really hope BHVR doesn't cave and nerf MfT other than taking away the endurance. I don't use it personally but I don't want to set the precedent that anytime survivors get a new meta perk it gets nerfed. Like if we look at the survivor meta we have mostly perks that have been in the game since 2016. Plot Twist and Dramaturgy may have a place in the meta it's unclear at this time but before MfT you have to go all the way back to Mikaela for a meta perk that is now nerfed and not that useful anymore which means you have to go all the way back to Felix with built to last to find a meta perk and it's one of the more uncommon ones.

This means survivor now at this point has hasn't gotten a survivor meta perk that wasn't touched in nearly 3 years before MfT released. I don't think MfT is so strong is warrants complaints on the level old DH used to get not by a long shot. But I also don't want it nerfed because when the next meta killer perks comes along the precedent is set for survivors to call for nerfs nonstop and it actually might because BHVR will nerf something if people complain enough.

  • I'm of two minds when it comes to MfT. On one hand I don't think it's so strong it needs to be nerfed but at the same time survivors shouldn't complain when killers focus on gens when chasing becomes a sub-optimal choice.

On the specific topic of Doctor he gets destroyed hard by MfT because his power is already hard to time and MfT ruins any delicate breakpoints for getting the shock in time. The good news is Doctor has an option to 4v1 as opposed to focus on 1v1 where if you shift your build on focusing your power on static blast and keeping everyone busy on keeping everyone in madness tier 3 you can drag out the game and get downs when survivors are distracted with their madness and struggling with gens with madness skill checks. Doctor can be a very difficult killer to break a 3 gen against if built in that way.

  • This actually isn't true if you pair self-care with botany + desperate measures and there are 3 or more people injured that becomes a faster heal than plot twist + unbreakable. Even at 2 people injured plot twist/unbreakable is only faster by a about .6 seconds.

Now granted one is 3 perks and the other is only 2 but one is also unlimited where the other can only be used once or twice a game.

  • And then you use it with unbreakable and it's a free heal with no med-kit required.

  • @Nazzzak said:

I think it's less popular in certain regions, probably in non-English speaking regions. Like how Self Care is notoriously popular in Asian regions. Being in Australia, I get matched with lots of people in the Asian region and I can go many games without seeing a single MFT.

That's interesting and makes sense given Asia's aversion to playing injured. Out of curiosity does this mean Resilience is less common as well?

  • I'm not even sure how BHVR would do it at this point. They already gave everyone the perks for free so they'd have to sell the characters at a discount which isn't really great incentive for Netflix to come back, granted it's Netflix's fault to begin with because they seem insistent on being the Activision-Blizzard of the streaming world but still.

  • As a fellow PC controller player I can say I've actually learned to use boil over not really to my advantage but to the point it doesn't do anything. The key is to lean into it , Boil Over only exaggerates the wiggle it doesn't change how it works so if when they wiggle left you look right and when they wiggle right you look left and in that way you're using the momentum from the wiggle to move rather than just walking straight.

  • Nerf exit gates to 45 seconds and you have a deal. I'm all for ending 3 gen slogs if in exchange we can make end game an actual phase of the game instead of a formality.

  • Been around on and off since November of 2016 but really only got hooked around May 2020 and I don't plan on leaving anytime soon especially with Alien arriving soon feels like I'm just getting started.

  • My go to is Map and Call to Arms for add-ons and for perks I use Discordance/Jolt/Pain Res/Sloppy. Discordance for knowing where to snipe with your guards then two gen regression and then sloppy for longer heals and the ideal scenario is to split pressure as much as possible and you're shooting for the following...

1 survivor being chased by you.

1 survivor being chased by a guard.

    2 survivors healing.

The more you can make this happen the more likely you are to win.

  • I personally don't find it that annoying, I also don't think it's weak it's like a DS that has a much greater chance of never going off and when it does it's at times that usually arn't super significant but a 5 second stall is still useful and 10 seconds of stall can be game winning if the killer isn't playing at a high level. That said it's fine? When I get hit with it I don't care that much and unless you're a Pop enjoyer I can't see it coming up that often. Considering Pain Res/Jolt/Deadlock are all strong and don't care about blast mine and I can't imagine people actually calling to nerf it. I'm sure people do because people will complain about anything remotely useful in this game but Blast Mine is the Demogorgon of perks, can be dangerous but usually isn't and isn't unfair in any way and has lots of meme value.

  • OP is a great example of not knowing how sample sizes and percentages work.

  • It's not amazing but I'm averaging 60k-75k a game as survivor and 75k to 100k as killer per game. It's better than the nothing we'd usually have this time of year at least, I'm mostly just seeing it as something to hold us over until we can dig into Alien next Tuesday and it's serviceable enough on that front.

  • It's a very common phenomena that lower ranks in games (the majority of any player base) people don't use comms very well or at all. I don't know if there's any MMR system in TCM but regardless I wouldn't expect it to buck the trend regardless.

  • Easy top 5 killer IMO, only reason you never see her is because she's on the harder side to play.

  • @Pulsar said:

Honestly, I quite like it even though I've used it in situations that were almost certainly unfair. First perk I've gotten death threats for using in a while lol

It's probably the best anti-tunnel perk right now and it feels wonderful to be able to stop someone from being removed from the game.

I haven't really had it used to any real effect against me due to how I play, but I can imagine it's just as frustrating as getting tunneled out.

It feels "anti-tunnel" in the same way DS was "anti-tunnel" when you could get hit with it 4 times in 90 seconds. Again I'm all for perks that are effective against the less fun parts of the game (camping/tunneling/slugging) but when the solution also creates unfun gameplay it's just replacing one problem with a different problem.

  • No this is a bad idea, I really don't wanna be facing survivors with MfT + Adren and then they can still fit something like Flip-Flop/UNbreakable/Power Struggle in their build. Nor do I wanna face killers stacking Pop + Jolt + Pain Res + Deadlock and then they still have room for corrupt.

Restrictions build creativity and figuring out what 5th perk you wanna cut is a good thing otherwise the power creep in this game would sky rocket overnight and nobody would be happy.

Ty, guys! So if I'm not mistaken the PTB lasts for 15 days after which the chapter is released? Or is there one week after closing the PTB?

I know it lasts for at least a week but past that it either closes or there's not enough people on to get games generally speaking.

  • It depends, against m1 killers they absolutely juice sometimes but against more complicated killers and doing anything that isn't gens they're not the smartest.

I still think they're an upgrade over the average soloQ teammate.

  • I won't give pity hooks but I will defend the killer post game if my teammates are being awful and the killer wasn't like hard tunneling/camping or anything which usually just results in me getting flamed too lmao but it annoys me when people who already won rub it in.

  • I mean drones don't lay eggs only the queen does.

I'm sure facehuggers will be incorporated somehow they're too iconic not to be but it could be anything from part of the power to an add-on to a perk we'll just have to wait and see.

  • It switches around a bit but I usually try to make them good but not too meta. Recently been trying to make Lucky Break work and at the current moment that's morphed into Lucky Break/Renewal/Resilience/We'll Make It.

If I feel like being a m1 bot I'll go back to Built to Last/Deja Vu/Distortion/Streetwise so I guess you could call that my main build.

  • I've had a lot of mains I think it's gone something like Clown - Slinger - Plague - Nemesis - Twins - Knight - Skull Merchant

That being said I plan on being a permanent Xeno main once the chapter releases.

  • My guess for all 6 perks. I'm not naming them because I'm both not good at that and won't presume how BHVR would either.

Survivor 1-When you enter the killer's TR reveal the killer's aura for 5 seconds to all survivors. Goes on cooldown for 80 seconds.

Survivor 2-When stunning a killer with a pallet they suffer a 5% hindered penalty for 6 seconds.

Survivor 3-After blinding a killer break into a sprint at 150% your normal running speed for 3 seconds. Goes on cooldown for 40 seconds.

Killer 1-When breaking a pallet any survivor within a 6 meter radius is put into deep wound.

Killer 2-when a survivor is placed a scourge hook all survivors suffer a 9% repair speed penalty for 25 seconds.

Killer 3-After hooking a survivor you gain the undetectable status effect for as long as you are 24 meters away from the hooked survivor. This effect lingers for 10 seconds after the survivor is unhooked.

I fully expect to be 0/6 but it'd be cool if I was anywhere near correct on any of them.

  • The only reason I'd kinda agree Wraiths are a pain to go against is because after Bubba I feel like Wraith players camp the most but that's gonna be fixed within the next few months or so.

  • From the teaser it's 100% like Hawkins but darker. Ghost Face is gonna be disgusting on that map.

  • I don't think Windows does as much as people think. A while back I experimented with blindness builds to see if it would make a difference and it very rarely did. All windows does is show survivors where the tiles are it doesn't help them run the tiles.

In this way Windows is only actually useful if you're already a good looper

You've missed my point. I wasn't talking about how strong each killer is. I was talking about the overall quality of each licensed killer. And there's no denying it, they're all radically different from each other. That isn't a good thing. That means BHVR can't create well-designed killers consistently.

And now that Alien is coming to DbD there's an equal chance they'll be good or bad.

Of course they're radically different from each other because the source material is all radically different. I actually don't understand what your point is if it's not about overall killer strength. Is it whether or not the reflect the source material? Because outside of I guess Nemesis or Freddy I don't think you could argue any of them don't reflect the characters well. I would point out that all of these characters have players that are devoted mains so if you're point is you just don't like some of them that's a highly subjective metric to go by.

Michael - Extremely outdated and underpowered killer that only becomes useful with Tombstone Piece

Leatherface - Power is mostly used to face-camp

Freddy - Quite possibly the weakest killer in the game

Ghostface - A good stealth killer with a very awkward reveal mechanic

Demogorgon - Good chase power with mediocre map traversal

Pyramid Head - Extremely clunky chase power and underwhelming status effect gimmick

Nemesis - Good anti-loop but mutation mechanic handicaps his power at the start of a match and his zombies are often useless

Pinhead - Landing hits with his power isn't rewarded enough and his box meta-game leads to long matches

Wesker - Easily one of the best killers ever released with good chase potential, map traversal, and passive slow-down

Onryo - Recently had her skill ceiling butchered and made playing "Condemn Only" extremely easy and unsatisfying

Pig - Power entirely reliant on RNG that can either be a non-threat or gives you free kills along with bad stealth and ambush power

There's absolutely no consistency between licensed killers in terms of quality. They are all over the place.

Myers-It is not at all fair to judge a killer that was released 7 years ago by today's standards they were solid B tier on release and well liked.

Leatherface-I mean yes trolls flocked to the killer but by that logic Billy is also a bad killer and they're obviously not.

Freddy-They were good at one point but they've been bad more often than good so yeah Freddy sucked but I explained why that turned out how they did.

Ghostface-They're easily one of the most popular killers so I'd call that a success.

    Demo-Sure.

Pyramid Head-The feel of them is iffy but they're one of the few comp viable killers and the status effect has had to be nerfed multiple times.

Nemesis-Sure although I've heard the zombies have been shadow buffed over time.

Pinhead-They're a strong killer and true to the source material again would call that a win.

Wesker-I actually hate wesker but can't deny they're a success overall.

Onryo-I don't think enough time has passed to pass judgement yet but I'm iffy on them but they're not bad.

Pig-They've averaged out the RNG and I don't think RNG is even a bad thing. The ambush could be touched up for sure though.

Again overall when it comes to licenses they come out good far better than they come out bad and even when they do BHVR goes back a touches them up over time.

  • Let me put it this way.

With the exception of MAYBE a werewolf chapter I don't think I could ever be more excited over a chapter than I am for this one.

How can you say that BHVR is consistent when it comes to licensed chapters, only to list how every single licensed character they've ever released has varied wildly in terms of quality?

This is exactly what my point was. There's equal chance that Alien will be good or bad. And you shouldn't be surprised if they end up bad.

Because they haven't? Like only Freddy has ended up actually bad and that was due to them trying to do two chapters at the exact same time in a very unique circumstance.

  • Tbf they also made Wesker and while I don't like Wesker people treat him like he's the greatest thing to ever come to the game. I would add that Alien being licensed is great news for the Chapter because while the original concepts are very hit or miss BHR is generally consistent when it comes to licensed killers.

Myers-Outdated by today's standards but very true to the source material and done so well I'd argue Myers is the reason DBD was able to take off the way it did.

Leatherface-A victim of trying to do two licenses at once. Was the worst killer for a long period of time but was reworked to be a solid B tier killer and true to the source material although it was hard to screw that aspect of it up.

Freddy-The other rushed license has gone back and forth between being the worst killer to the best killer to the worst killer. Was true to the source material at the start but now has kinda lost the feeling of being Freddy so I'd actually say this one was a miss.

Amanda Young-Has needed a lot of adjustments and even if they're a bit weak I'd say they're at least true to the source material and is well loved by the community as a whole.

Ghost Face-Meme lord of DBD killers and despite the reveal mechanic being a mystery to this day with scientists working day and night to figure out how it actually works they're very popular and was well received.

Demo-Do I even need to say anything?

Pyramid Head-Top tier killer and I'd argue any problems with him is BHVR breaking what was originally not broken but it can easily be fixed if they made him feel smoother to play but otherwise they're 95% of the way there and a great addition.

Nemesis-I know some people complain he doesn't have a rocket launcher but I've always found those complaints goofy and the tentacle works just as well and they seem fairly popular. Not to mention all the zombie memes we've gotten from them.

Pinhead-The whole NFT thing aside Pinhead is a very unique killer true to the source material that's fairly strong.

Sadako-Kind of a mess before and kind of a strong mess now. It's probably too soon after the rework to really say anything about Sadako but they did have some fans before at least and probably more now. Probably the weakest licensed entry after Freddy in terms of how well it's turned out but they're still decent.

Wesker-Again I don't like him but he's by far the most picked killer for a reason.

So we have one miss and Sadako is like half a miss so BHVR is batting 8.5 for 10 when it comes to their licenses? I'd say that's a pretty good job so far. I'm not too worried because history shows even if Alien is not top tier they will feel like Alien and to me that's enough.

  • I mean they're portrayed as the ultimate predator in the movies, I'd be surprised if they weren't chase based.

  • My guess is a combination of stealth with a lunge ability and some sort of mini mori through a status affect.

So like a combination of Demo and Sadako.

  • Anyone that wasn't an Alex Jones style conspiracy nutcase coulda told you that lol, it's just this community gets completely unhinged when something they don't like happens.

  • LET'S ######### GO DREAM KILLER IS HERE I'M HYPE AF

  • They were just salty, streamers will literally say anything when they lose. Last week I played against this SWF that was streaming and they were complaining about how singularity has no counters lol.

Getting one person out ASAP is very common in comp because 3v1 is so much weaker than 4v1 it's only a bad strat if you're not managing gens simultaneously and the rest of the team is acknowledging the person is probably dying and they just rush gens over saving them cuz that can often result in a 1k but most pub teams arn't smart enough to do that even SWFs.

  • perk changes during new chapter ptbs arn't super common due to them now wanting to take the light away form the new content but if it's just taking the endurance part of the perk away I could see it happening next ptb yeah, anything more dramatic and I would expect it not until the midchapter.

  • @DavidHypnos said:

PTB is next week?? Damn, we just got the half chapter and new tome. I can’t keep up with all of the new stuff! Isn’t BBQ returning this month too?

From what I've head that starts thursday yeah.

  • I still see it fairly often and it's still strong when it comes into play it just can't be abused a dozen times a game and killers don't have wait for permission to hit survivors now. It's in a healthy spot now I'd say.
