Main Jonah, this is a good idea and nobody will target you for it.

As someone planning on running the turret breaking addon and the turret detection addon while im learning how to play? Probably not that much.
Coup seems like it will be so ridiculously good on Alien that I am assuming most of my chases will be running up to a gen with monitor, tailsmacking someone, then getting burned out of the power and whacking them with coup. You get the down, the turret is destroyed automatically, and it ends up being a timesink for survivors
Can I ask why you think coup is good on Xeno? Just wondering if I'm missing something as nothing stands out about them that would make Xeno a good coup user or at least a better coup user than your average killer.
-
NOED usually translates into one extra down then it's cleansed it's okay but I wouldn't call it good.
-
US - East
Mostly play killer
For me it's 25% Survivor during the day and then 100% Killer at night.

Right that's about where mine hovers as well.
What would you say that the average Killers ping is that you play against?
I mean hard to say since you can't see it but probably anywhere from 25-110 if I had to make an educated guess.

What's the average ping you get in DBD?
Probably around 32-54

The odds of less than .050 of a second making a difference is low, ESPECIALLY factoring in ping.
Like even MFT I GET the complaints for. The perk is STRONG and just via its numbers, you can tell. It gains you a lot of distance on pallet break and that's probably the main strength for regular players.
Resi isn't like that. Its strength isn't its .045 faster vaults. It's the action speed increase. Exit Gates, Gens and Healing. It's not strong, but it is good.
I've seen a lot of top survivor players say resilience is more of juicer perk than MfT and from my own experiences I agree. You make so many more vaults you wouldn't otherwise with Resilience and it's very noticeable in game. Again saying "smol number" is meaningless when you can see the tangible effect it has in game.
-
MFW I make a thread about Resilience and it turns into a MfT thread anyway.

I am with you insofar as perks shouldn't supercede the ability of the player. Players should survive (or kill) far more based on their own skill than be successful solely because of a perk. Perks should be in an assistant capacity as opposed to being the sole reason for victory.
I've had more of an issue with MFT stacking with Hope, honestly. During trials, when the results board comes up, I've not sufficiently noted that MFT made a difference unless it is paired with Hope. Maybe it's down to subjective standpoints, but when you take away the stack and endurance, the 3% only gives so much from my experience.
Right I generally agree and the 3% is really only noticeable by itself in the sense of survivors getting able to greed one extra time around pallets. What I believe is a problem is when you add this with the vault speed of resilience it can extend certain tiles like T and L walls to a level that's rather gross, that's what I think has to be addressed.

But this only applies to the End Game Scenario. I've had Killers chase be down only because they got into Tier 2 and Tier 3 with Blood Lust. Is that fun/fair?
Killers also have the option to build end game build that block the gates controls, block the exits, then you can stack Terminus and NOED as well for extra speed.
I don't want to turn this into a Killer/Survivor Debate, I'm only pointing out that but both sides have the same type of perks.
Also its rare you see someone running both MFT and Hope. I see this as much as I run when you run into some using end and game build as Killer.
It's suck when you encounter its, but you move onto the next game.
Again BL2/ BL3 existence is dubious but this has turned into a discussion I didn't want it to. Again end game is a joke so I think MfT + Hope is largely harmless. This is why I very specifically made the topic about MfT + Resilience because that lasts all game long and I'm all for chases being longer with chase perks and killers having strong chase perks (I run CDG + STBFL every game for reference) but the issue is when gens are flying in a background it makes those 1v1s anxiety inducing because you don't really have the time to screw around.
I don't think we want longer gens and gen regression I think is in a good spot right now and I think as a result this leaves two possible solutions. Either way stronger killer chase perks or we nerf survivor chase perks to be a bit more reasonable. The first option would actually be my preference but that's something that will take months to a year to actually happen so for the short term I think we need to make survivors stacking chase perks more reasonable.

I never said it was meaningless.
I said you're completely ignoring a 10% gain to complain about 3%. You're the one who was trying to say how broken it would be if killers got buffed... which they did, globally, base kit, for free, no perks required, and for larger values.
That seems inconsistent, and frankly biased.
You're aware kill rates were at an all time low and literally nobody wanted to play killer when those changes happened yes?
They had to make those changes just get people to play killer again.

Then by this Logic so does BloodLust, it increases Killer Speed and unbalances the core chase mechanic.
Whether or not BL2 and BL3 should exist is a different discussion and I wouldn't hate it if they were gone but BL1 exists because it turns out survivors and killers are not the same and in some loops it's extremely difficult to catch up depending on the window setup so BL1 exists to make those loops less abusable.
-
@AmpersandUnderscore said:

They did.
In 6.1.0 they have 10% action speed to nearly every killer action, like blade wiping, break actions, damaging generators, improved bloodlust gain, and some I'm probably forgetting.
Been hearing nothing but how 'useless and meaningless' those base kit, free buffs were for over a year now, but oh. my. god let's ######### about 3% on a perk incessantly.
I'm going to keep a counter of people not realizing that this is literally my point and saying something only boosts something "by a tiny percentage" is not a valid argument for it not being impactful.
We're at a point now where those changes have gotten powercreeped because we reached critical mass on survivors perks that boost their numbers in chase.

Iirc, Resilence boosts vault speeds by .045 seconds.
I don't really think ANY movement speed bonuses are comparable to such a small boost to vault speed. You'd have a better time arguing the gen speed aspect of Resi
When it's the difference between a down and a chase going on another 20-25 seconds or more saying "look number smol" doesn't really mean anything.

They were nerfed because, even by themselves, they were too strong. So the logic still stands as they would have been touched anyway.
I agree perks don't exist in a vacuum, but it's about making sure newer perks don't allow this to happen to such an unworkable degree. It's about planning newer perks.
I mean sure I agree it would have been nice if BHVR had the foresight to see this coming along with MfT + Hope but honestly end game is a joke as is anyway so that's less of a problem IMO.
That being the fact is we're here now and I don't think builds that loop for survivors without them actually learning how to loop themselves is healthy for the game and is something to be addressed. Playing m1 killers is miserable at the moment because it feels like you can never catch up even when survivors fall for mind games.
-

We should just remove bloodlust then.
You completely missed my point which was "a tiny percentage" here and there adds up to be very significant and is a very hand-wavey response.
-
@Marc_go_solo said:
I wouldn't nerf a perk because of another which exists. I also don't feel that's the main concern with MFT.
Resilience works absolutely fine as a perk. MFT (if it did not stack with other speed perks like Hope, nor have an additional effect that essentially is a perk in of itself in enduring) would also be fine.
If we went by this logic CoB + Overcharge never should have gotten touched when it was absolutely correct to do so.
Perks do not exist in a vacuum.
-
@Pulsar said:
Resi is such a tiny percentage iirc
So we can buff killer speeds across the board by 3% right?
That's such a tiny percentage.

Yes and I may main Xeno, haven't decided yet.

Wraith is a bad example just a few days ago I heard Laser I think it was say that Wraith has a rather high skill ceiling, since you can use the movementspeed bonus to have an increased lunge attack for exampel and many other things.
It is not that a killer has to have a high skill ceiling but a killer should have some things to learn, current skull merchant has nothing drop drone at gen put around 3 gen kick gens resett drones repeat, that's it... a monkey can do that. The issue is not that it is easy, it is that it requires no learning at at all.
I disagree, learning that distance isn't that hard and it's almost not even unique to wraith anymore since you can attach coup de grace to any killer and get a similar effect not to mention Spirit exists and has a lunge but is also better while also being more difficult and besides lunge and bodyblocking wraith doesn't do anything.
I also disagree SM doesn't have anything to learn because unless you know your fundamentals of m1 chase you're not getting downs as SM, of course this is not unique to SM but I'd argue it does make SM a very good choice for people just starting DBD because you get free tracking to get into chases and a killer where you have to learn basic chase fundamentals which will carry onto any other killer that person plays after and I think having beginner accessible killers like SM is good for DBD overall.
Yes SM has abusable aspects that need to be addressed but as long as her ability to stall the game is removed I think there's nothing wrong with a killer that's easy to play.

@Pulsar said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3522198#Comment_3522198
Yeah, and it's boring.
Usually though, those killers can do something else skillful. Artist has crossmaps, Knight has CTA and unfortunately, SM has her 3-genning, not what I'd call skillful.
This is highly subjective though and why is a high skill ceiling a prerequisite to a killer being valid?
Should Wraith be deleted because his skill ceiling is very low and once you figure out how to body block with him you've basically mastered them?
-
@Pulsar said:

It's still you either leave the loop and know how to path or stay at the loop and die.
Okay but how is that unique to Knight and SM?
Again you just described half the killers in the game.

@Pulsar said:

If you're chasing Survivors and then placing Drones at loops, that's literally just worse Knight.
As someone who plays a lot of both they're not remotely similar.
Knight is "I use my guard to flush you out and now you're in chase with this AI and then I'm gonna come in from this other angle and hit you" cuz lol 2v1.
Double Purple SM is m1 killer on crack where I'm incredibly fast and you're slowed down and maybe if you have a claw trap I can force you to break a pallet for me.
The similarity starts and end with "I can use my power at a loop and make that loop bad for you" but that's like half the killers in the game.
-
I will forever defend the ruin/undying meta as healthy for the game in giving survivors an alternate objective but apparently we don't actually want the other objectives people are asking for.
-
I agree and I think beyond bugging her stealth drones just need to activate faster so she feels fluid in chase.
That's part of why people just drop them on gens because the drones feel clunky trying to use them in a chase.

Rancor only activates in endgame. Sadako's mori is part of her power and requires set up, and PH has to inflict two hook states (whether through hooks or cages) to mori, as well as have you condemned.
I want my early game Rancor that I can use on anyone in the entire team, 4 times in a row, midrush with Vial+Crow. Also make Blight's power instadown even without iri tag. This is just fun for me.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3521104#Comment_3521104
KL is undoubtedly the best Nurse player in DBD. Saying "best killer" is disingenuous because different people main different killers. And teamwork is far more important than individual skill in DBD (not to say that anyone in ETR lacks either). He's a key player in the best DBD team currently, diminishing his skill with "but the other 3 are just carrying him!" is very reductive and dishonest.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3521102#Comment_3521102
Which 5 of Blight's addons? C33, Alch Ring, Vial. I count 3.
How is posting my observations dishonest? Also Knightlight is a good Nurse yes, he can play any of the top tier killers at a very high level but the reason I put Zaka above him is because Zaka could play literally any killer and be a menace to a level I don't think Knightlight could like I've seen Zaka play Dredge and Ghost Face at a level I've never seen anyone else match which in comp you're kind of expected to play every killer at a high level so yes best killer player is something that's observable. As far as survivor goes I've just not been impressed with it when Knightlight goes into soloQ, it's a lot of complaining and a surprising amount of mistakes. Compare this to say Ayrun who seems like they know every tile perfectly and yes I definitely don't feel Knightlight's survivor gameplay could be called "the best" by any metric.

The best killer...
Im sorry but that makes me laugh...
How can anybody say that. He's the best at what? M1 killer? Blight? Nurse?
How can anybody say that they are better than all the other players that play this game on a regular basis.
We don't know about the performance of all players in the world. How can we just say that this player is the best or second best. Makes no sense to me. You can say that about the players that publicly play this game, but you sort out all the players that play dbd without making videos or participating in "competetive" cettings.
Is knightlight good? Yes.
Is he therfore the best or second best player in the world? There is no way we can say that.
This is literally the logic of "is LeBron one of the top 3 basketball players atm? Well we don't know literally every single person that plays basketball rn so we can't say that."
Like come on this is disingenuous and you know it.

That's certainly a take. Curious about your reasoning. You don't win 70+ tournaments by accident. I've played survivor against him in scrims before. It's like playing against an overtuned AI.
So let me clarify I'm not saying Knightlight is a bad player he's not but people act like he's the best and I really disagree with that, I'd probably put them as the 2nd best killer behind Zaka but I really think they're nothing to write home about as survivor. I've never really been impressed with their looping and I think Eternal's teamwork makes him look better than he is.
-
Knightlight is overrated as a player.
There I said it.
-
Keys used to be the most powerful item, I honestly think they're fine now especially for soloQ free Bond is underrated and we don't want them at the level we had them at before.
Maps are interesting they used to have a place during ruin/undying meta with detective's hunch but then it was decided we didn't actually want to give survivors a second objective so that went away. They could probably do with a buff but I don't know what you'd do with them as unless hexes are meta there's nothing in the map really worth tracking.

Yeah I've gone against two SMs to date who haven't 3-genned and both easily walked away with a win with an average length game. I didn't care because the games were actually enjoyable. It's a shame seemingly 99% of SM players choose to play her the way they do.
I'm of the the opinion that most people playing Merchant aren't actually SM mains, they saw how you can cheese with her and decided they wanted the easy wins or just wanted to troll and hold the game hostage. Believe me when I say I want the SM rework more than anyone cuz I'd be happy to have all the frauds stay away from the character.

Go watch JRM's recent video and your opinion might change.
Also Otz was calling Meatball strong at first too. People initially were positive on Meatball.
Time will tell. I could be wrong. But it looks bad imo for Alien. Especially when survivors get smarter with turret placement.
That Xeno in that video looked like a bad killer player in general, indecisive and literally just ran into flamethrowers for some reason without destroying them.
The flamethrowers are a mild annoyance at worst, you can destroy them easily and ignore them and get a hit as well if you so choose. The fact that you get your power so quickly in your tunnels means being broken out of your power doesn't really matter that much.
They're less EMPs and more like Nemmy Vaccines where yes they make you waste time getting your power back but overall if you're a good killer they won't stop you from using your power.

Well to be fair, it is easy to win at 5 gens as SM currently since the moment survivors see a drone half the team just quits.
Every match I've been in as survivor, the moment people find a drone, they sit in the space, wait, get hooked and opt out. Now it is 5 gens and 2 vs 1.
No one wants to play against her, it is boring.
That's not what happened but okay.

When was the last time we saw a boon perk? March 2022 with Sadako. It’s been a year and a half and we haven’t gotten one new boon perk at all. it seems like BHVR has just flat out gave up and stopped making boon and teamwork perks
Tbf we've also gotten one hex and one scourge hook in the last year and a half.
They generally space these perks out quite a bit and that's been true since hag released.

I saw that video and I've never disagreed with Otz more than I did when he talked about CDG. Otz can only see the game through a hyper competitive lens I feel so he's way off base here.
We're not all playing in tournament where we have to know everyone's loadout before the match starts, most players are not trying to identify the other side's build during the course of the game. I've been using CDG since the buff and gone against a fair amount of TTVs and not one has commented on me having CDG despite me getting a number of downs because of the perk so I don't think this is an issue anyone really cares about and IMO they shouldn't.
Not everything needs to be hypercompetitive we can let things be in a game because they're fun as long as it's not upsetting game balance who cares. And for my final point I feel Otz is being horribly hypocritical here, he released a killer perk tier list right before the buff and he gave CDG 2/5 stars talking about everything bad about the perk but now that you actually get enough tokens per gen to actually use it it's a huge problem? Nah I don't buy that at all, everything Otz has a problem with in that video was true before it just didn't come up very often so I don't think Otz is being very consistent in his thinking here.

I'm not following, sorry. What do you mean?
Skull Merchant gets a Haste effect for every survivor you're able to track whether that's from a claw trap or them being in the radius of a drone.
- 1 trackable Survivor equals +3 %
- 2 trackable Survivors equal +5 %
- 3 trackable Survivors equal +6 %
- 4 trackable Survivors equal +7 %
-
I like having MfT as killer.
-
You picked a weird killer to start with. Not that Doctor is bad or anything he's fine but he probably has the most builds out of any killer cuz his add-ons are so weird. You have
-Skill check Doctor
-Stealth Doctor
-Whatever tf putting both tapes together does Doctor
-Not having to wait 3 hours for the effect of shocking someone to actually prevent them from dropping pallets Doctor
-And many more!
So really it depends what playstyle you like most when it comes to giving tips. Generally speaking though what translates to whatever you do is time your shocks methodically, don't just shock survivors in a loop repeatedly because you will actually never catch up to them. You shock them to prevent a pallet drop or a vault and then you loop as normal.
-
I think gen kick meta was the easiest killer ever was and rn the game is fairly balanced.
Of the the things you mentioned keep in mind during that time DS was much stronger and DH was basically broken. Survivors could peace out after doing 4 gens after someone died with a key, old maps were much worse before the redesigns, old boil over was a thing, old OoO made going against a SWF miserable.
Both sides had BS but survivors have definitely lost more over time than killer.
-
Singularity needs it for sure.
Knight I think is mostly alright but the minimum distance away from objects to use the power needs to be gotten rid of though it makes him frustrating on indoor maps.
-
I like not needing to wait for permission to hit survivors.
I will take MfT over old DH any day of the week. You either have a power that doesn't care about MfT or you just have to be patient and not take chases you know are not time efficient and in a weird way I like the test of deciding "okay they have MfT but they don't have anything" or "Okay maybe I'll get a pallet out of them but besides that if I pursue this it'll take too long so I'll get the pallet and see if I can get a better chase somewhere else".
-
I love posts like these that are like "the community has such good ideas you should listen to them" and then the ideas are like make survivors die on first hook or make killers 105%.
I literally have seen threads asking for community ideas and 99% of the suggestions are unbalanced jokes. Players are great at finding problems in a game and absolutely garbage at coming up with solutions.
-
"you can't force someone to play a video game"
Yes true but also nobody made them log in either, they made choices and then decided they didn't like the consequences. ######### is goofy af.
