Jokes on you I'm a console player and I am going to continue playing xeno no matter what console handicap be damned I will adapt and conquer it because xeno was my dream killer chapter and now that I got them I will be on the journey to prestige 100 xeno and prestige 100 ellen ripley
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/1EWCNM2Y374W/images-2834-29.jpeg
I wish you luck cadet. o7
I play Xeno on controller on PC and it's a challenge for sure but the muscle memory is setting in and I'm already hitting over trucks and cars fairly consistently so it is doable, I think doing it around corners is gonna be the hardest but it doesn't feel impossible the way Oni does which is great.
-
There's something ironic about releasing a video complaining that turrets don't do enough while showing footage of them getting burned out of their power over and over.
-
Honestly I think it's a combination of the killer being new and oversaturation, once the pick rate goes down people will probably complain less just like with Artist.
I don't see Xeno's pick rate being especially high long term just because I don't think most console players will stick with them but we'll see.

At least with Oni, you can out-maneuver his dash with gusto, but with Alien, it's not like it's stuck in a motion. It has complete control, and with even a bit of good aim, it can get some really unfair hits. I get what you mean by holding W, but if that's literally the ONLY counter, where you can't even use a T and L wall efficiently against a basekit Alien, there's a problem.
Xeno can handle T and L's pretty well but they're not useless I'd say. Best tiles against Xeno is probably shack, trash tiles, labyrinth tiles, and long wall jungle gyms so I'd look for those as they all provide high cover against the tail.

that works only on some maps and if the rng is right. also that counterplay has nothing to do with xeno, its just a different playstyle.
and most important the second or third person who got chased has no more resources to work with because of huge dead zones.
"Doing the thing that counters Xeno has nothing to do with Xeno"
Lol
Also if the other 3 survivors are sticking to gens then it doesn't really matter if pallets are used quickly the only reason people greed pallets so much is because most survivors are potatoes that would rather loot every chest in the map and cleanse every totem before touching a gen and then wonder why they don't escape when they make games much longer then they have to be.
-
How is this different from Oni? Against a good Oni you're not allowed to get hit so you just hold W and predrop.
Also "super fast cool down" it has the longest cool down of any m2 killer in the game save Nurse. I swear people don't even know what they're complaining about.
-
Naymeti has few good videos on running Xeno a lot of W and predropping very similar counterplay to Oni.
-
First off it is not free to destroy a turret without leaving crawler mode you have 1.5 seconds to destroy the turret once it starts firing at you. So you basically have to destroy it on reaction. Due to this unless the killer has e-helmet and/or star chart it is highly likely for two turrets placed near each other will take the killer out of their power.
Now I only played against Xeno on PTB but I didn't have any trouble with them on here but they've been buffed a bit since then but I have played them nonstop since release so what I can do is list the things most annoying to me as a Xeno player that survivors can do.
- I'll repeat two turrets in close proximity usually means I have to drop chase entirely and deal with them and most likely retreat into my tunnels.
- Turrets hidden in tall grass can be annoying as they're harder to see/react to, this is most applicable on swamp but basically if a bear trap would be well hidden there a turret would also be good there as well.
- Changes in elevation are also annoying places for turrets so think the edge of hills, the top of stairways, balconies, etc are more likely to be high value turrets the are more likely to knock Xeno out of their power.
- If you think that will take too much time then use the turrets as an early warning system the literal moment you hear intense beeping start running, Xeno will have to deal with the turret first before they go after you and by then you should have enough time to make it to a strong loop.
- Speaking of loops stay near high wall or very tight loops as much as possible, it makes it very difficult to use the tail in these types of loops and they'll be forced to m1 (I use Coup De Grace on Xeno for this reason but most probably won't tbh).
- DO NOT TRY TO CROUCH THE TAIL. I see so many survivors try to do this not realizing it doesn't work, distance and tall obstacles are your friends trying tricks you'd try on huntress or nemmy doesn't work here as the projectile curves down naturally.
- Don't hide in lockers near tunnels caught a few people doing this. The killer instinct when coming out of a tunnel will give away your location even in a locker.
- Predrop pallets at low loops they're mostly useless against Xeno anyway so forcing a break while you W key away is decent value.

I only use them as a early detection mechanic as I don't like wasting time, especially in solo queue. I don't expect it to knock him out of his power, the problem is when I have two (in close proximity) at seperate loops and they don't do anything apparently. Yes, they were both active at the time I was looping.
Do you know if they were using e-helmet or star chart by any chance?

I never pre-drop against Clown or Doctor. Doctor is my favorite killer to loop actually. I'm good enough to not rely on that. Also, you do realize survivors are hindered massively whilst carrying the turrets that spawn NEXT to the gens?
I'm aware but that's the trade off of getting higher value turrets, if you're gonna do the equivalent of knocking the turret out of the control panel and onto the floor then it's pretty unreasonable to expect that to knock Xeno out of their power 100% of the time.

@mikewelk said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3530853#Comment_3530853
That's your argument?
Flame turrets are weak in solo queue and that makes up like 70% of games worldwide if not more. I can't see how you could argue they're strong.
Holding W to the nearest turret doesn't do anything. You'd be lucky to even get the Xeno out of Crawling Mode but you also need to take into account that turrets are placed near people working on gens. That's a silly strategy.
Pre-dropping pallets way ahead of chases shouldn't be a strategy. Just shows that the killer is too oppressive and that little bit of distance the dropped pallet gives is more valuable than actually looping.
You can't move onto new pallets before you're lose/lose. Xeno won't let you. No killer would let you if they had an ability like that where they HOPE you drop the pallet.
So tip stop putting turrets right next to gens unless you only want them as a early detection mechanic because those are never going to burn a Xeno out of it's power. There's also the fact that as a cereal user all you're doing is telling me what gen you're working on. Place them more at loops or hidden and I imagine that would be much more annoying.
In addition predropping is also the strategy against Clown and Doctor are you going to claim they're too oppressive as well?
-
I really wanted to make him work cuz I loved his voice lines but playing them is just an exercise in futility. We all know about the EMPs but even beyond that overclock doesn't last very long and the pods don't always lock on even though the survivor is plainly on the screen.
I personally think he's not salvageable barring a full rework but I'd love to be proven wrong.
-
It's too early to tell, they could get Freddy'd or it could be an Artist where they ignore it and eventually the complaints stop.

It's in the complain queue we have to get through complaining about Xeno themselves first.
Wait until people find out how disgusting this perk is on Nurse, Blight, Wesker and even Doctor. Forums gonna go crazy.

Xenomorph is definitely overturned at the moment, but it should be pretty easy to put them in a good place. Increase the slowdown after a tail whiff, make the turrets more effective, increase the cooldown to get back into runner mode, and they'll be fine. A visual or sound queue when the whip is coming would also be nice.
Sounds like a good way to put them in the Singularity tier of never touched cuz playing them is more trouble than it's worth.

If you’ve got 4 survivors consistently making it to endgame those perks may well be meta for you. Now laugh at that. 🤷♀️
I love the thinking of me believing MfT and Hope being unfair means I most get 0ks all the time. I very rarely do, it's possible to see something isn't balanced while being able to play around it, it's just that playing around means making the game unfun for the other side which I know isn't something a lot of people on here think about but I do and would rather not make the game annoying for the other side.
But I guess we can continue to pretend everything is fine and suggest terrible perks as counters to real problems.

Awful logic, Killers can do well without meta perks (and see picture below) nevermind getting there with 3 great perks like your choice of Lethal Pursuer or Corrupt, Pain Res, and Pop. My matches as Killer end before the Survivors complete the gens in more than 70% of matches, and I could only be considered great on a good day, and certainly not excellent. I also never intentionally tunnel (if you tap the gen in my face you are fair game), and I only camp at the final 10-20s of a hook stage if the Survivors greed gens instead of going for rescues. With a 50% winrate being the norm, you are going to have to lose as many matches as you win.
My point with end game is that it is clear the Killer already lost if they couldn't secure a win (or even a single kill) against 3 perk Survs by then, Hope just secures the victory. It isn't Hope itself and haste stacking, but the entitlement of winning a match someone was so outclassed in and deserving of losing that is absurd to me.
The Devour 'by this logic' would certainly apply if you locked in Devour stacks and the totem when reaching endgame. The Survivors had all the chance to cleanse the totem, or insta-rescue/leave people on hook to deny stacks, and if they greeded the gens before cleansing Devour then sure. If the Survs popped the gen the second the Exposed was revealed, then the Killer only gets perma Exposed. If they had 3 people on hook at 2 stacks, the 4th Surv rescued everyone sequentially and the Killer waited out the final gen pop for free Moris, then by all means. You are probably going to only get 2 kills with the Moris, but you do you.
End game is the last chance to make up for failures as Killer. I'm fine with a perk that says "you have a harder early game but no challenge late game" for Survivor, and that is essentially what Hope does.
I had a Freddy game just before the Xeno patch (for a daily) where I had my 2 totems cleansed before the second hook, which means all I had was my 2 remaining perks (that they weren't failing skillchecks against sadly, maybe because it was while OC was still bugged to not give the skillcheck if you tap the gen). I still managed to win before endgame. 3 MfTs, 3 Windows, 2 Resils, 2 Hopes, and a DH (I even kept swinging into that DH because I was mixing up who had it), and yet it didn't matter. I didn't even tunnel as the least BP Survivor got ~16k BP. This is why I find complaints against Hope and MfT to be jokes. I'm good, great on a favorable day, and I have hearing damage from a previous job, so that means plenty of people should be better than I. If I can get a 4k against 3 MfTs and 2 Hopes, I don't see why anyone else is having problems.
(I don't even like Freddy, I just P9 all Killers and Survivors for the charms. Working down the list on Pyramid Head and Nea now.)
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/R0MAEK0EKD6Y/freddyvmft.jpg
This is just completely changing the conversation lol. It's not about how bad or good the rest of the game went, it's about completely invalidating end game as a real section of the game. Again sometimes you just wind up 2 hooking everyone, MfT + Hope encourages tunneling because it means getting to endgame is a death sentence and that's not healthy for the game. Getting to endgame doesn't mean the killer played badly you can easily get anywhere from 7-9 hooks and get to end game and then the game is just over because you're never catching anyone after that.
If this is literally what we're saying is okay then just get rid of opening doors completely and have the game end after 5 gens are done. Because apparently we're saying unlocking doors should be trivial and irrelevant to any tension left in the game by that point.

I'm curious what Killers you consider as M1 with no effective chase power? Many of their power's are to NOT chase. Ghostface is based on stealth and instadowns. Legion is based on keeping everyone injured, so that they are never safe to rescue hooks and need to pre-run causing multiple people to run at once. Clown has a combined 25% haste+hindered difference (technically +.46 -.6, so 1.66m/s difference). Everyone else has Bloodlust which only takes 15s to get T1, so if you get outplayed for 15s you can still force the loop and get the down.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3530057#Comment_3530057
I'm sorry but do you think someone who loses against opponents with 3/4 perks deserves to win when they get the 4th perk? That'd be like if I said "Oh yeah the Killer with NOED got 9 total hooks before he finally killed me and we only finished 2 gens, but I deserved a gate escape!" The person who lost deserves to lose, especially if they lost against a handicap in their favor.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3530120#Comment_3530120
This final point I think you are mistaken on. "We don't balance the game around the lowest common denominator". That is technically true, we are supposed to balance around both the average and most common (or median and mean) cases. The top 5% and the bottom 5% don't matter, and MfT can only be considered a problem in the top 5% (sweat SWFs on comms). Blight (and his add-ons moreso) can be considered a problem across all levels. Everytime I ask for proof MfT gives even an extra window vault where a normal Survivor wouldn't get, I get nothing. If MfT guaranteed 3 safe window vaults where 2 window vaults then a hit during the 3rd at every loop was the normal scenario, I could see it being this boogeyman it is being made out to be. It alongside Resilience just seems to be a lag negator. So Killers are used to the natural lagvantage and lose it against these perks. Resilience saves ~.04s at fast vaults, or 40ms, which is roughly my normal latency on my own server. I can see everytime I get the pallet stun+injury I had lagvantage as Killer, but many people are unable to come to terms with this.
Awful logic, survivors can do well without meta perks nevermind getting there with 3 great perks like windows, MfT and resilience (most commonly sometimes it's sprint burst or prove instead). Not to mention it's not uncommon to get to end game just because 3 people got two hooked without anyone dying.
Getting to end game is not a reason to throw game balance out the window. Literally by this logic Devour Hope should not be a hex and just be permanent if the killer is doing so well and survivors are losing they should just give up the game completely which is obviously not true.
-

Killers should be applying pressure throughout the match but if all 4 survivors make it to endgame, killers do have contingency perks to help them: NOED, No Way Out, Bloodwarden, Fired Up, etc.
Yeah those meta perks blood warden and fire up lmao.
-
I think nothing needs to be touched.
The add-ons are training wheels for new players to get them more comfortable with the turrets. I don't use them anymore and can deal with badly placed turrets consistently.
The turrets themselves are also fair you get one chance to hit them and if you miss you lose your power. How they were before you basically couldn't react to them without add-ons.
Everything is in a good place now. Turrets arn't weak they're just not free value.
-
Blight is too fast to be hit by nerfs apparently.

You should know given your profile picture. I have downed adrealine, hope, mft users even without noticing they have some of those perks with noed. So if you're scared of that combo bring noed it should at worst give you few downs.
Ideally you kill one survivor at least before endgame as otherwise even noed probably can't save you. If you get 2 downs in 3vs1. 3K is almost quaranteed if you can chase last one away. Well one change for noed could be good to make that 4% speed boost pernament.
I use it cuz the picture cuz I like the icon I don't use NOED cuz it's awful but nice ad hominem lmao.
And like good luck getting two downs before doors are open or 99'd when everyone is 110% and your NOED has an average uptime of 20-30 seconds. Unless you're using Blight, Nurse, Artist, Spirit it isn't happening.

I think it stacking with hope is fine survivors made it to endgame so they deserve it. Killer can bring noed to counter it too.
Survivors get 110% speed boost in end game making them as fast as some killers and making other killer the same as tier 1 Myers.
"Killer can just bring an easily destroyed 4% speed boost to counter it"
Make it make sense.
-
insane suggestion considering you wouldn't be able to react to it.
-
The survivor meta seems like staying injured and prerunning way earlier than usual and just holding W. It's made chases so dull.
-
This is why turrets exist.
If you had to fight to keep a power that was easily telegraphed that would feel awful.

Funny thing I tend to only use my power on the obsession while going for downs on others with the m1 for extreme jolt value
That's interesting lately I've been using mostly the tail to corral survivors where I want them to go cuz it's such a good zoning tool. I'm sure Xeno has multiple viable playstyles it's just gonna take time to develop everything.

like there are 4 turrets auras of which you can see, you simply run to these turrets to disable his ability so he becomes m1 killer and has to chase you by simply hitting with m1 which allows you to drop pallets safely.
So you can tail attack the turrets and destroy them lol.

yes but he is still m1 killer, so what can you do in current meta as m1 killer?
If you're not in your power the majority of the time as Xeno you're playing them wrong.

So what you're saying is DBD has periods of peaks and valleys in it's player population like all games? Fascinating.

Okay? And Xeno isn't countered by indoor maps the way Huntress is.
It turns out even strong killers have strengths and weaknesses. Who knew?
-
The other survivor and the killer are both at fault here. Neither one was progressing the game so they should both be reported.
-
Always happens on release day, as players are trying to figure out a killer they're not comfortable with yet they tunnel to compensate.

no okay, neither my opinion nor yours matter here, there are killers like wesker, blight, nurse, spirit and huntress and there are other useless killers. Xeno falls into second category. who cares whether a, b , c ,d ,e tier ? He does not have what it takes to kill.
I would put Xeno around Huntress level though.
This sounds like a skill issue.
-
I'm going off Dead or Alive logic where yes I'm giving up stealth but I'm hoping I have so much cake I distract the survivors into making a mistake.
-
If you want the canon answer Ridley Scott confirmed Xenomorphs are hermaphrodites so I think either is valid.
I use the Queen skin so I just use she/her for Xeno in general.
-
Xeno is possibly low A tier and high B at worst but okay.
-
I'm surprised they nerfed them as much as they did but t was a good change because bringing add-ons to nerf them no longer feels obligatory. We definitely averted another Singularity situation which is great.

-
Xeno Adept leaves you with no Bloodlust I did it first try by slugging and never looked back cuz ######### that lmao.
-
BHVR almost got me with Maria.
BHVR got me at record speed with the Queen.
-
Trapper is such a weird character, nothing happens 95% of the game and you feel terrible cuz you're just walking around setting traps going getting the other and bringing them back and it feels bad to set all these traps that may not even do anything. Then the other 5% it's like dominos falling and and you end the game in the span of a 10-12 second window as multiple traps work at the same time and you feel 400iq.
Traps spawning more centralized would be good but also Trapper getting 4% haste while someone is trapped would be good too, it's so awkward to be chasing someone and then someone gets trapped and you switch targets but they get out cuz you're too far away so being able to get over a trap faster would be a really good QoL.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if there's barely any changes and certainly not enough to warrant a blog post from the ptb, Xeno seemed mostly fine tbh.
-
At least this problem is getting fixed, meanwhile BHVR still thinks Mother's Dwelling is a balanced map and didn't need a change.
-
Yeah no I don't want to have to sweat every game as killer. Solos are my opportunity to play chill.
-
I mean...yeah. I remember being a newer killer and it was just constant frustration game after game not understanding how to outplay a lot of common survivor perks and items. I've uninstalled DBD like 3 times due to it but the last time was over a year ago. It does actually get better, like yes even the top tier killers get frustrating games form time to time but it happens far less often and the game will actually make sense eventually.
It is true there's not really anything in game that explains killer to you, the tutorial is just awful. But there's lots of resources online to tap into and knowledge can go a long way towards understanding how to win, the rest is just practice which will be painful at times there's not way around it but you can get there if you put the time in.
