So thats it your team was just chilling nearby, yeah the mechanic doesn't work too well when they do that because it also functions to not reward survivors with free escapes if they stay in the area around the hook
They weren't, they did a gen and then tried to get me but couldn't because the killer came back and face camped.
Nobody is asking for free escapes, the mechanic was supposedly meant to punish face camping and it doesn't.
-
@bjorksnas said:
I mean its an additive mechanic its not supposed to be free escapes unless the killer is on top of you 24/7, half of a hook stage across the room meant there was 30s for a teammate to save you relatively freely and then 30s to save you dangerously which is still more than you would have without it. You can't expect the mechanic to make up for what you or your teammates won't do to make the most out of it
it wasn't across the room it was 5m basically in lunge range. The mechanic made 0 difference, basically the only way I was getting out was if my team DIDN'T come for me so the bar could fill faster which is so unintuitive and against DBD's core design that it might as well not exist.

Did any missed skill checks alert you to survivors positions?
Nah but a snowman did lol and Dredge can react to that pretty instantly.
-
I had a Dredge game today where I almost had a 4k at 5 gens (turned into 3k at 4 gens but good enough). Generally when that happens survivors have to misplay and take hits when they don't have to and just generally don't loop well.
-
I love how people keep wanting Nemesis changed their only suggestion is something that would instantly kill survivors or just make Blight again.

0 to 5 meters, the self unhook meter would fill the fastest. 5 to 10 meters is slower, but it fills still fast enough to self unhook. You said, it barely filled. When it should actually allow you to self unhook long before dying.
Which means that the killer was either further than 10 meters away and/or other survivors were nearby.
In both cases, the anti face camp mechanic works as intended.
Here is the dev blog on this
https://deadbydaylight.com/news/anniversary-gameplay-updates/
They were face camping, also I didn't say it barely filled I said it got about half way. My team eventually did try to get me when I was near death but it was a Plague and everyone was infected meaning getting the save was pretty much impossible. You can say "working as intended" all you want but that doesn't change the fact it is absolutely terrible game design that doesn't actually fix the problem. And before you say "oh they shoulda cleansed" if it was a Bubba or Billy in the same situation it basically means getting the save was not possible so then the anticamp mechanic utterly fails at what it was designed to do.
-
@Tsulan said:
Technically facecamping. Thats a new one... Like long distance face camping...
The anti face camp mechanic is supposed to work against face camping: the killer standing right in front of the hook. Its not supposed to work on proxy camping or when teammates loop the killer around the hook.
So as you describe it, it works just as intended.
You know 5m is still within lunge distance yes?
Like if you think face camping is only when the killer model is only in the survivors I don't think you can be taken seriously.
-
Oni needs to earn his power, Chucky gets it for free and has less restricted movement. I think BHVR understands the difference so I wouldn't worry about it.

Dwight is common.
Leon is uncommon. And rest is rare or very rare lol.
I feel like Ace would be uncommon or maybe even common otherwise yeah lol.
EDIT: David might be uncommon too.
-
I feel like if you did the male version of this half of them would be rare or very rare lol.
-
Considering the entity is a cosmic spider, arachnid imagery has been a part of DBD since the beginning. Certainly not impossible but there's nothing actually indicating that it's "soon".
-
Does Rapid Brutality count? Cuz personally I think that perk is insane especially with STBFL and I can't stop running it on all my builds.
I am horribly impatient on chases so it felt like it was meant for me with how fast it gets you back into the chase after a hit.
-
The Undying Nerf.
The problem in the Ruin/Undying was Ruin not Undying, Undying was just the glue that made an entire class of perks suddenly viable and provided the secondary objective many people had asked for.
Because that got taken away gen times got nerfed again, we had a terrible gen kick meta, hexes might as well no longer exist, etc all because of one bad balance change and then they wound nerfing ruin during the perk shakeup anyway so ######### was the point?
#BringBackUndying
-
Can we stop with the Distortion threads? They're incredibly dumb, you're blanking one of your perk slots to MAYBE blank one or two of the killers perk slots.
It's a perk that either does nothing or keeps the status quo from changing with aura perks, it doesn't do anything proactive and therefore will never be as strong as perks that are proactive like exhaustion perks, gen perks, healing perks. I would probably put it in the same class of perks as something like vigil tbh or maybe something like fesrmonger on the killer side. Perks that counter or interact with other perks but do nothing on their own.
-
"Tunneling generators"
"Survivors are running away when the murderer moves towards them"
OP is peak comedy tbh.
-
I'm kinda meh on the snowballs although I'll admit watching my ex throw snowballs at a Xenomorph and then run away when it chased her was extremely amusing.
Personally I like the jump scare snowmen, it's nice to be unnerved playing DBD again if only just for a little while.
-
It's nowhere near good enough to be a hex. It is however very funny against people using flashlights as they're essentially just turning on a flashlight and blinding themselves.
I think it might be the first meme perk we've gotten for killer and I'd like more like it just don't make them hexes. Survivors shouldn't be able to turn off my memes >:(
-
Getting a snowball thrown at you might be the funniest reason I've seen yet for one of these "I'm leaving" threads and that's saying something.
-
Not really? It's not like hard rules but generally I have a few tendencies that affects my gameplay.
-AFK survivors hang once and then will be left alone unless they're still AFK and gather 3 crows after being unhooked.
-Teams with someone who gives up get one free gen.
-Teams that bring map offerings receive zero mercy under all circumstance and are likely to experience tunneling otherwise I generally don't tunnel in most cases.

Whats the point of doing AMA when they know full well they can't answer many if not most of the questions that will come inevitably. They should just make more frequent forum/blog posts instead.
That's what I'm saying. Instead of 50 answers of "we have no plans for that currently" or "we have nothing to share at this time" they should just do a 20 to 25 minute dev stream with a presentation of 2 or 3 things they can actually show us. Because as in these AMAs are largely pointless yeah.
-
Honestly the community is not the best at asking questions I wish they would do more developer updates instead so they can actually talk about things they're allowed to.
-
I mean he probably has what like 15k hours atp? I wouldn't blame him if he finally burned out. I think it would be hard to enjoy any game for that long.
-
Oh the roadmap with no Singularity is the one still stickied at the top of the forums, I suppose it is postponed, now the anxiety of the impending rework? buff? nerf? can last even longer. \o/
-
Actually there is one change that would be kinda cool now that I'm thinking about it. Just a small thing where survivors infecting other survivors didn't need line of sight cuz as is right now one survivor could be infected and working on a gen and if the not infected survivor is on the other side they don't get infected which is kinda silly.
Besides that though I don't think they need much of anything, EMPs are dumb but we've I think mostly overcome that by getting better at gooing people multiple times a chase. If they wanna nerf EMPs more I won't complain but I'm not really demanding it or anything.
Announcing it so far in advance is kind of a double edged sword I'm realizing like it's nice to know it's coming but at the same time it's like "wait ######### are you doing though?" and we won't know the answer for months now. It would be nice to know even vaguely what direction they were looking to take Singularity in.

I don't think they did... Imagine all the things people in soloq would be capable of if they had the information... Sure they won't just straight up become better at looping, however they would know if someone is going for the unhook, they could callout their positions and which gens they are working on to prevent 3 gens, they could call out lit totems, or totem positions in general, in case they are currently unable to do them themselves and so on and so forth, all this leads to much more efficiency overall, and this is the major benefit, the working together is basically just because they know all this and are able to be more efficient...
For example the totem example.. One survivor calling it out but unable to do it and another one able to do it... How would you recreate this situation without communication? The teamwork is a result of the information spread... Which is why I think their statement is just plain wrong.
Nobody uses hexes anymore and you don't really need communication to avoid a 3 gen hell a lot of casual SWFs 3 gen anyway cuz they're not thinking about that that much.
I really don't understand this utopian thinking that everyone would just become perfect teammates if they had more information and could communicate more. Team games with randoms with voice chat are not new even in the asymm genre, you'd get good teammates maybe sometimes and the rest of the time will be teenagers yelling slurs at you lol.
-
Not really sure what you could change about Singularity other than making overclock last longer or the EMPs but that would be a tweak not an update.
Will probably be drastic whatever it is because presumably BHVR doesn't love the fact that there's only like 10 of us Singularity players lol. Hopefully it's not a full rework cuz the base concept is fun and I hope it's not changed too much.
-
This comes across as horribly naive about human nature lol.
BHVR pretty much hit the nail on the head with their answer. There will be a limit to what they can do about soloQ because randoms will never care that much about other randoms. The amount of times I've gone to second stage on hook one, been knowingly sandbagged, been held hostage by hiding teammates, been left to die in endgame, etc is more than I can count.
Now don't get me wrong I don't think it's malicious but rather just apathetic. The average random just doesn't care about other average randoms because they just don't really have a reason to? And they're always gonna make their survival the priority and no amount of HUD changes are going to fix that.
-
Killer players when a bug is fixed so the killer has the intended counterplay lol.
-
I face a good number of Merchant'sa night and none of them 3 gen, idk where people are getting this unless they think putting a drone on a gen at 5 gens left is 3 genning.
There's valid criticisms of the new kit like it all ending in a massive hindered effect while she has haste leads to a certain inevitability to her chases in a way that isn't interesting (although let's be honest Clown does the exact same thing just worse) but I don't think you can really call her a stall killer anymore when the drones are fairly useless at guarding areas if Skull Merchant isn't there to pressure them.
-
So the three gen solution has something to do with kicking gens within a certain proximity of each other perhaps an inability to kick gens or much slower regression. I have no strong feelings but it's interesting.
-
Okay but hear me out, what if we allowed end game builds to exist without complaining? The odds end game builds start dominating the meta is extremely unlikely so you're probably never gonna see it even with the nerf reversion. Do we start seeing Pop/Pain Res/Batteries/NOED start popping up? I suppose it's possible but I'm skeptical people will want to give up perks like Lethal, BBQ, Sloppy and Corrupt. This is mostly End Game enjoyers getting a W and they should be allowed to have it.

Please, Explain how he is worse.
Compared to 7.3.2 to now 7.4.2.
Nerfs :
- Laceration increased to 8 from 6
- Terror radius increased to 32m from 24m
- Main Event duration decreased from 10 to 6
Buffs:
- Recoil Removed.
- Increased movement speed to 4.6m/s from 4.4m/s
- Ramp up of throw rate removed (0.33-0.25) movement speed decrease removed, throw rate is now static 0.3
- Main Event now triggers in 8 blades from 30
- Combo system increases main event duration by a minimum of 0.5 to a maximum of 3 seconds
- Main event add-ons got a lot of buffs, he arguably now has the best common add-on in the game with memento blades.
Worthy trade off in my opinion and i am probably missing some buffs too
So the up to 8 blades from 6 is a very significant nerf when combined with the lower throw rate. It basically means unless the survivor is in a dead zone it's unlikely you'll get a health state through knives before the meter starts to decay which means it's even more knives to get a health state all while not giving Trickster a buff to his base knife supply.
In a perfect scenario Trickster is better but the reality is things rarely play out this way so all we really got is a buffed main event which is still on a timer to activate so it's do all this work to get to this buffed ability that you have to kinda just hope you're in position to use before you lose it while base Trickster is worse.
-
So who wants to tell them Trickster is actually worse now?

These “tiers” are made up. They hold no validity in this conversation on balance. You cannot reason, “this killer needs to be nerfed because they are S-tier”, because there is no such official thing.
Yea, some blights, including myself will run shadowborn only. So what? I vs’d a p100 blight a day or two ago running shadowborn only, and we all escaped as a solo q team.
I was running addonless, perkless blight yesterday and a couple teams 3-4 man outed against me. So I really don’t understand your point?
Blight’s overpowering effect comes from addons, not his base kit.
Blight mains normally "yeah they're S tier"
Blight mains when they realize that indicates blight probably needs nerfs "TIeRs ARe mADe uP"
lmao
This honestly comes across as purposeful ignorance to me. Everyone acknowledges Blight is the 2nd strongest killer in the game and some would argue for Blight being the strongest killer in the game. Yes Blights add-ons are dumb but base kit blight is also dumb and there are very few areas where blight can't get a hit. The fact that blight players largely feel like they don't need perks is probably a good indication that y'all know how dumb your killer is and they idea that "yeah well a couple people managed to escape tho" is a laughable counterargument because it basically translates to "balanced is when blight's kill rate when using no perks or add-ons isn't 100%". Like no the fact that you could probably have a kill rate well over 60% without any perks or add-ons is an indication of a problem that base kit blight is overtuned.
-
@HugTechLover said:

Blight becomes significantly weaker without addons.
They're still S tier though. Like going from very S tier to only kinda S tier doesn't really mean anything, it's actually not uncommon for blight's I go against to only be running shadowborn and nothing else, I don't see that with any other killer not even nurse (although I have no doubt nurse players could do this if they wanted to).
-
Yeah if this was old DBD I'd think shadowborn would just be a filter but now idk. It might turn into an aura perk of some kind but we're running out of triggers for those. Maybe on a down see the survivors in a 24m radius?
-
Yeah idk I feel like I'm forcing myself to like Xeno lately after the nerf because I feel like I should since I've always wanted them in the game and the Queen skin is extremely cool.
In reality though they are extremely frustrating to play. It feels like you're fighting turrets more than the survivors just to keep your power and if you miss you DS yourself so you're really only encouraged to go for easiest shots. The low PoV is annoying cuz you can't see over loops well where your power might actually be useful, if you're not in your power you are literally worse than Trapper and Freddy meaning anytime a turret does happen to work the chase just instantly ends. So the only consistent part of the power is the tunnels which are really cool but let's be honest Freddy can do something similar and you don't see anyone singing their praises lol.
As many of the problems I'm listing don't get me wrong I don't think Xeno is a weak killer, when things do go your way they're still strong but I feel like Xeno has far more frustrations to deal with than your average killer, you could say there's a much higher barrier to entry with Xeno before they're actually fun and that's unfortunate because I don't think you should have to work to have fun in a video game.
-
He probably should be but even if they did I don't think that would really change that much. I think if you took away a rush token or two that would be more impactful.
People are saying just touch add-ons and leave base kit alone which is crazy to me considering everyone acknowledges Blight is still S tier without add-ons and I don't think S tier killers should exist, they're not healthy for the game.
-
I think we're complaining about Rapid Brutality but I'm honestly not sure?
If we are lol that perk is only really good on 4-5 killers and not worth it on the rest and I refuse to believe you see it that often.
-
Because if DBD players have the opportunity to complain about something they will?
-
If you're getting frustrated by boil over while using controller I can give a little tip that anyone with boil over you can mostly nullify it by crab walking to the hook.
All boil over does is exaggerate the wiggles so technically speaking if you crab walk to the hook while alternating the position your facing with whether the next wiggle is to the right or left then you can use the increased wiggle to almost get you to the hook faster lol. That being said it's still obnoxious on indoor maps even with this in mind.
-
I've been trying to run devour on Xeno lately cuz I love that mori animation but I've gotten it to work like once, every other game it gets cleansed at 2-3 tokens and gives me basically no value.
I don't know why you would ask why people don't run perks that don't do anything like that's a real mystery. Also for the record people did used to run hexes back when we had old undying and survivors complained about it nonstop to the point it got nerfed so how about survivors make up their mind on if they actually want hexes to be viable or not.
-
Do you not have chains of hate yet?

There is no “learning to play against her”.
She drops a drone at the loop, and
You hold w, you get hit.
or
You stay, drone injures you, hinders you, deep wounds you, and hastens her. You go down.
or
She uses her drones to hold a 3 gen, which also gives her the best stealth in the game.
There is no skill. No meaningful interaction. No REASON to play against her. She’s by far the most hated and miserable killer in DBD, for a good reason.
No thanks… I think I’ll continue to “forget” how to play survivor. I’m not going to waste my time playing against a killer like Dull Merchant.
"Best stealth in the game" lmao it lasts 8 seconds and she has to keep calling back drones if she wants to keep it past early game.
Also the drones are not unavoidable, if you crouch they don't detect you, if you don't move they don't detect you and then there's of course the fact they can be disabled. This by the way is why she's not that great at holding 3 gens, there's a reason the people who actively try to hold 3 gens mostly have left Skull Merchant in favor of Singularity.
This is less "forgetting" how to play survivor and more just not knowing how to play survivor lol.
-
Yeah see that's everything wrong with soloQ right now, she's very beatable but people would rather give up than learn how to play against her.
-
Shorten the timer to 60 seconds and let survivors be notified when it's active and it's probably fine.
-
I actually think it's legitimately good on Wraith as it helps get that 2nd hit he's notoriously bad at getting and obviously it has it's use for Myers.
For anyone else it requires your entire build to support it which usually isn't worth it.
-
The weird thing about UW is it is pretty busted (turns out giving out the ability to other killers to be Doctor in addition to their base power isn't the best idea) but I feel like I rarely come across it that much and I struggle to figure out why.
It's free tracking that gets around Distortion that you can activate at any time while also comboing nicely with other perks like Sloppy, Thrill, and Dead Man's Switch. By all accounts the meta should be centered around it right now and it's not really instead killers that were already dumb (Nurse, Blight, Wesker) are now ever dumber but most other killers seem to be skipping over it? Like could you imagine if Cenobite was more popular and was always running UW to interrupt box solving? That ######### would be foul and we'd never hear the end about it on here.
-
While very disgusting it's probably not common enough for BHVR to do anything about the way basically everyone ran old DH or old Iron Will.
FtP is the 39th most used perk on Nightlight and Buckle Up is 38th which means you're probably not running into it too often but it feels like complete BS when you do. This is probably compounded by the fact it's mostly SWFs running this combo so it's making the already more challenging games even harder because the fact is most randoms are not giving up a health state for other randoms most of the time.
With this being the case I doubt it gets touched considering how hard it was to get BHVR to finally change OoO and that a much stronger effect for SWFs so with that being said absolutely tunnel the people who use the combo or at the very least keep them injured cuz you're in for a bad time if you don't.
-
Terror Radius: Singularity, it's very Metroid to me.
Chase Music: Dredge, they're the only killer where their audio actually meshes with their chase so well. I love the chorus of voices with the intense drums.
